Sold! “In Love Sometimes You Wrestle, Sometimes You Dance, But Most Times You Split the Difference” And what fun time at the @currentartfair preview! A regular #whoswho of the #rvaartist community made it to the bustling opening. For the most part, in your studio you paint in a vacuum somewhere between euphoria and terror that what sits on your easel was worth the hours upon hours of your life that you gave to it. So going to an opening of your work is that rare opportunity to actually connect—however distantly—with your audience. You stand back and look at people looking at your painting. Like a parents watching their kids come up to bat at a little league game. And when you see someone pause at your painting and look it’s such a Sisyphus’ moment of success. Also it’s a little odd, like —hopefully— this will be happening after I’m no longer here, a legacy of little moments connecting with others. Much thanks to @ericschindlergallery there’s a lot of great art to see this weekend. A few more little flower studies to celebrate winter solstice! Today is the shortest day of the year and I’m taking advantage of as much sun and warmth as I can and painting daisies seemed like the best way! From today forward the days will be longer!!
