Anterior lens luxation in dog.
It’s a condition where the lens is displaced and got stuck at the front of the iris. It is a painful condition and the recommended treatment is surgery, either to remove the lens, or remove the entire eye. Medical treatment to dilate the pupil and let the lens fall back behind the iris is a secondary option in dogs who are not a surgery candidate. It often fails, however…
It can happen by accident trauma, but usually it’s a possible consequence of uncontrolled cataract, uveitis, or glaucoma.

Unsolicited facts about me that might explain a few things:
(Under the cut just because it's some medical stuff.)
This is why I am sporadic and often EXTREMELY exhausted.
EDIT: I don't say this to get like, sympathy, asspats, etc. I just think all this might offer a bit of context.
I have severe clinical depression, which was treatment-resistant for years until I managed to get on the right medication and was able to undergo TMS therapy. I also have severe ADHD, and was born with glaucoma (have undergone multiple eye surgeries to avoid blindness). In 2015, I was in a car accident and sustained a spinal injury--I can still walk, but recovery was horrifically painful and took years, and resulted in early onset arthritis as well as chronic body pain. Currently, I am suffering from a large uterine cyst that is in the uterine lining and will therefore require major surgery. This fucking thing is causing my other health issues to get worse--plus it's causing heavy nonstop fatigue, constant pain, and periods from hell.
There are a few other things... minor asthma, anxiety disorder, CPTSD. All diagnosed. All pretty much under control. It's that fucking cyst that's killing me right now.
The weird part is that aside from all that, I'm relatively healthy! I have good meds and a therapist and I've got stellar blood pressure. Go figure!

Medical/optometry-related discussion under the cut.
I can't sleep tonight thinking about a patient. They came to see me recently for poor vision in one eye, thinking they just needed glasses, and it turned out they have severe glaucoma that's made one eye effectively blind and has put the other eye very, very close. They hadn't had an eye exam since at least 2015 and likely earlier than that, because they'd seen well all their life except for needing reading glasses and didn't have any ocular discomfort, and they assumed that meant their eyes were healthy.
Now, all of a sudden, we're facing a real possibility of irreversible total blindness. The eyedrop I put this person on didn't have nearly the effectiveness I'd hoped, and when we got the results of the visual field test at this week's follow-up it was much worse than I'd expected. Instead of having a few months to play with medications and treatment options and taking our time finding the right regimen best-suited for this patient's schedule and insurance and preferences, we're looking down the barrel of needing major surgery ASAP to get the pressure back into a safe range, and even still, given how long they've likely been sitting on this high pressure, they may still lose some of their little remaining vision. It's a horrible situation for this relatively young person (less than 70 years old) and I can't stop thinking about how completely avoidable this whole situation was.
I hate these apps that keep popping up advertising how they can give you a prescription at home. I hate them. Good vision has nothing to do with healthy eyes (in fact, people with good natural vision are often some of my worst patients because they don't need to get glasses and they forget about me), and this is a perfect case of a person who saw great right up until the moment they went blind from a condition we could have stopped in its tracks two, three, five, eight years ago. I don't know this person's life story; I don't know what major life events or struggles they were going through over the last decade that kept them from coming in. I'm sure there were reasons that seemed good at the time. I just know that by the time they came to me for help it was too late for me to do anything meaningful at all, and I get a knot in the pit of my stomach every time I think about the test results. It's crushing for the patient and for me, absolutely crushing.
Glaucoma is so treatable these days, and so easy to catch with the right testing, but it requires people to get that testing in an office with the equipment to test it. It has basically no symptoms until the very end stages of the disease--no pain, no sense of pressure, no visual changes, no redness, no blurry vision, no anything until the last possible moment. The only way to pick it up is to take an external measurement of the pressure inside the eye. But it's slow! It's a slow disease that takes years--sometimes decades!--to do real damage, and if patients are getting regular eye care during this time we can catch it and stop it! Apps will never be able to do this. Never, and this casual acceptance of at-home vision checks replacing actual health care, this uninformed conflation of thinking good vision means good eye health, of letting the desire for convenient online glasses shopping overrule the importance of getting dilated, terrifies me.
This patient didn't use apps, didn't get glasses online. But they made the same mistake that people who do use these apps make, which is that they assume seeing well means that nothing is wrong with their eyes. It breaks my heart that I'm going to be having these conversations more and more with patients who get these slow, preventable diseases because an app got them seeing well out of their glasses, and they used that instead of a dilated eye exam to decide they were in good shape.
I don't really know where I'm going with all this. I've just been thinking about it constantly since the patient's most recent visit, and I'm worrying about kids growing up with everything so accessible online that they forget some things--important things--still require in-person human touch. It's just--stuff like this doesn't have to happen. So many diseases like glaucoma take so long to show up, and there are so many ways to intervene and stop progression before the patient loses an iota of vision, and I just--I want to be having those conversations instead, where I'm telling people that it's great we caught something early and now with treatment they should be in good shape for the rest of their lives. I want to do that instead of what I had to do this week, which was tell this patient that this vision was never coming back, and then have nothing, nothing, nothing I could do to help besides sit with them in their pain and watch them go through all the horrible stages of new grief and say I'm so sorry, hopefully the surgery will preserve everything you have left, hopefully, I'm so sorry.
I don't know how to make that happen, though, that shift. Advocation and education, I guess, which is what they're always harping on at continuing education courses, but those are big things, sweeping things, and I work best in the one-on-one, in the personal. I don't know. It's just a hard thing. A hard day, I guess.

Lasik Complications
I created this account to share my story with Lasik. I hope my experience informs others of the truth behind the Lasik industry—its deceptive marketing practices, medical negligence culture and hidden complication rates.
I got Wavefront Optimized Lasik in 2023 with the ex500 laser with an Ivy League faculty surgeon in the USA. My myopia was between -5.00 and -6.00 in both eyes beforehand. My astigmatism was minor and uncorrected beforehand, between -.25 and -.50. I actually didn’t even know I had astigmatism before getting Lasik. Since that is a normal amount for most people, it is not noticeable or corrected. My prescription had been stable for over 3 years before proceeding with Lasik.
I have many complications after Lasik and it has been traumatic both physically and mentally. It is singlehandedly the most devastating thing to ever happen to me.
The surgeon should be discussing the risks with you in relation to your specific screening and eye health history during the initial consultation, but the problem is that many do not, rather they just send you a consent form after approving you as a candidate, without explaining why thoroughly. It is solely up to you to educate and inform yourself of the risks beforehand, but you are not an expert in the field so may not know what to look for in your own research.
Below are the things I wish I had known before going through with the procedure.
1) The risk of ectasia in relation to your individual screening results (corneal thickness, age, prescription, etc.). How corneal thickness impacts possibility of retreatment down the line if needed, how further treatment would greatly increase the risk of ectasia by further thinning the cornea. The risk is also very dependent on your current prescription and current corneal thickness. Higher prescriptions require more tissue removal.
2) Dry eye risk in relation to your screening. Explanation of how Lasik severs nerves which causes dry eye, risk of corneal neuralgia if nerves do not heal adequately. Explanation of how nerves never return to preoperative levels.
3) Loss of best achieved/corrected visual acuity and loss of contrast particularly at night due to pupil dilation.
4) Risk of starbursts/halos at night in relation to the patient’s pupil size vs. treatment zone.
5) Risk of under and overcorrection, and irregular astigmatism.
6) Explanation of what the Lasik flap is, scarring risk and permanent loss of corneal strength. Comparison of risks to other procedures: PRK and Smile.
7) Risk of floaters in relation to myopia, lattice degeneration, and risk of retinal detachment or early posterior vitreous detachment due to trauma caused by suction used during procedure.
8) Risk of rainbow glare due to laser pattern.
9) Explanation of how Lasik increases higher order aberrations which are uncorrectable through regular glasses/soft contacts and lead to visual side effects such as irregular starbursts, etc. There is no guaranteed fix--one can try topography guided retreatment, but it may not work. Scleral lenses can potentially correct but not cure.
10) Explanation of how Lasik makes cataract surgery harder to get if needed down the line. Patients getting Lasik should hold onto all previous eye records and topography scan for future cataract surgery. 11) Explanation of how Lasik leads to falsely low IOP measurements which may increase risk of undiagnosed glaucoma
Of these possible short-term and long-term risks, I currently have the following.
Rainbow glare, a rare side effect caused by the laser pattern. Usually transient over 2 years but not for all. Retreatment can fix it but cannot do due to post-Lasik dry eye syndrome and suspected corneal neuralgia.
Massive, irregular starbursts and halos at night, making night vision significantly poorer than before. I was told after the procedure during a second opinion consultation that I have larger than average dilated pupils, causing light to enter the untreated area at night which causes these visual disturbances. Only temporary pupil constriction drops can treat it, or risk topography-guided retreatment to widen the treatment zone, which may not work either. I'm not sure why I was approved for Lasik given my pupil size, but they told me nothing.
Diagnosed under correction, diagnosed worsened astigmatism after the procedure by .50 diopters in left eye
Diagnosed severe flap scarring
Diagnosed Higher order aberrations (HOAs). Spherical and coma in particular as shown by aberrometry. In only one eye I see diagonal streaks of lights on cars even during the day time, and ghosting at night making it hard to read subtitles, digital clocks, any text on dark screens (can no longer use my phone in dark mode, for example). I also see starbursts and halos at all times of day but they are massive at night. Again, HOAs cannot be easily corrected. Topography guided retreatment may or may not fix it, could make it worse, and scleral lenses may or may not help.
Floaters: I thought I had retinal detachment given all the floaters gradually appearing 1-3 months after Lasik, so I had an emergency appointment. The ophthalmologists cannot explain definitively why Lasik causes more floaters. I have been told that Lasik may just make them clearer. Another has said that the suction during the procedure stirs them up, and may damage the retina. Another has said that Lasik isn’t “supposed” to cause floaters the way cataract surgery does. But no one could provide a concrete answer. However, studies show that Lasik can lead to early Posterior Vitreous Detachment and and Retinal Detachment is a known risk of Lasik, so damage to the retina caused by the suction makes the most sense. In the most recent laser information, all of these are now listed as side effect so I was lied to.
Post-Lasik dry eye and corneal neuralgia. My nerves may or may not regrow adequately over the course of 18 months. I am currently being treated with serum tears which cost around $300 (not covered by insurance) for a 3-month supply. Serum tears are made from your own blood. Another treatment option is IPL which can be around $450 a session (also not covered by insurance). Previously tried prescription Xiidra eyedrops which is around $60 a month with insurance. Before Lasik, I rarely used eye drops. I now use them daily alongside frequent painkillers, nerve medication (Gabapentin), warm compresses and icepacks. I was told I likely had Dry Eye Syndrome before Lasik by an outside eye doctor, but wasn’t aware. I had thought I was becoming intolerant of contact lenses due to allergies. The ophthalmologist should have seen my dry eye during the Lasik screening, but if they did, they didn’t say anything and still approved me as a candidate. Many doctors will also say that Lasik “only causes dry eyes for the first few months,” but this is not true for many people. Some develop long-term or permanent dry eye syndrome and corneal neuralgia due to poor nerve regeneration. My life is very different than it was 8 months ago due to the daily discomfort and pain caused by dry eyes. This is the most devastating impact of Lasik so far. I would strongly advise against getting Lasik if you already have dry eye symptoms.
All this to say, I also knew around 10 people who got Lasik, PRK or Smile before I went through with it, and none had serious complications. Only one regretted the procedure due to regressing with his astigmatism a few years later. Another got Lasik in 2000 for -4.00 myopia and is still 20/20 today without side effects.
But given my side effects, I am shocked to be the “1 in 11.” I have wondered if the statistics are really accurate that most fare well. Even if I am the unlucky one, the 1 in 11, I would still argue that this probability is still way too high for such devastating risks.
When I did the procedure, I was mostly basing my faith on the people around me who had gotten it, rather than digging deeper into the research, data and stories of those with complications.
A report from the FDA in 2022 highlighted some statistics around Lasik side effects/complications and they are actually quite high despite the overall short-term satisfaction rate: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/lasik/lasik-quality-life-collaboration-project#:~:text=Questionnaire%20with%20Filenames-,Study%20Results,halos)
The study also admits it doesn’t have much data on long-term side effects, long-term risks and satisfaction.
In general, the marketing around Lasik is that it has the highest satisfaction rate in the world, and is a quick and casual miracle. Given that Lasik is an elective, expensive, privately paid procedure, I believe that this is why many clinics don’t adequately discuss these risks or review the patient’s screening with them in detail.
I am now in a Lasik support group with a lot of people who have both similar and different issues from the procedure.
The consequences of Lasik are honestly the hardest thing I have ever gone through, so I want to make sure the next person considering Lasik is more well-informed than I was, and knows their risks in relation to their individual screening and health history. If I could go back in time, I would’ve stuck with glasses and contacts.
All in all, the effects of Lasik on my physical and mental wellbeing have been truthfully devastating. My outcome and experience thus far is something for me to adapt to, cope with, accept and move forward from.
Thank you for reading.

ଘ(´•×•)⊃━☆ a (not so brief) life update
In case you've been wondering where I've been cause by now we all know I tend to just disappear.
A few days ago I felt like oversharing a bit for anyone interested, I feel like getting to this point of sharing is due and will allow me to stop this irrational fear of the internet that I have somehow developed as it tallies to my accountability on this blog.
So hang tight! Cause this is about to be a wild ride...
I'm not regressing to the very beginning cause this isn't about to be a therapy session but I will go back to the near beginnings of this account during the pandemic.
A little before lockdown as I was asked to collaborate as a customs specialist for a pop-up store (which then I found out to be BTS') so I got into them after my job was done. A bit after going down the rabbit hole I started this blog, without very much planning into it, just merely creating a safe space for the people with whom could potentially like the same things I did.
A few months into it, as a last year International Relations student on my way to law school, and with a bit of sleep deprived courage, I applied for an internship at BH online, not expecting much since I barely knew Korean and was most definitely stuck at home in a whole different continent. But things surprisingly worked out, I didn't get paid at all but it was a great learning experience. BH became HB and I got to experience that from the inside, my day went like this: school from 7am to 5 pm and work from 9pm to 3am (sometimes more)
I obviously never got to work directly with any idols, my work was merely global and very much law related. Customs, contracts, negotiations with international enterprises. When the lockdown was done with, I was asked to move and become a permanent worker of theirs, so I did. However, it involved a lot of moving around so I wasn't exactly based anywhere and living costs are quite a thing. During this time I was also profiling myself as a diplomat, so it was in all of our best interests that I became outsourced.
Which brings us to a timeline closer to the present, the person that was in charge of contacting me for the gigs that I used to do for them suddenly quit and while I'm sure they were doing whatever was best for them, left me fending for myself during may-june. I came back home with my parents during june-july and networked for a bit– at least enough to regroup my possibilities so during august-september I was allowed to staff and collaborate (on a lower level) on some big concerts/tours.
During this time however (july-september) I was mostly reliant on my parents and coincidentally, their work slowed down by a lot. The rather small amount of money I got from working here and there was spent on my medical treatment (during july my doctor let me know that I needed to get diagnosed properly for lupus and by august my treatment costs were up by a lot) I tried picking up freelance tutoring (a pain, truly) and other small hustles that didn't require me to tire myself out too much since most of my days I spent aching all over, while also caring for my mother who had to have an emergency glaucoma surgery.
Oh and I cried and felt miserable during my birthday so.
I believe that's where we are at. I can't exactly get a job since I need to apply to an unpaid internship in order to graduate law school but I can't apply for an internship because one of my teachers just suddenly decided to fail me in their class (which means I need to pass it first) so I try to get by with small, low commitment hustles and now I'm picking up more seriously my ko-fi content. Which is why, I haven't been on here.
Those damned retrogrades hit me good ngl.
I do want to say though, I am not in a state of emergency, however, I am not living comfortably, but I'm trying my best to pick myself up and be nice to myself with the decisions I make and actions I take by the minute. While also trying to save up to go visit my 17 year old sister that has just moved away to study medicine.
I am grateful for what I have and I cherish you all that have remained close to me (even in this infinite nothingness that is the internet) and I hope you've been treating yourselves kindly during this time. If you'll have me, let's navigate the rest of the year together.
If this gains a lot of traction, I'm privating it lmao. I have no issue now talking about it since I'm no longer working there but I made those NDAs myself so I know what I'm up to.

Molly has the worst vision of the family, having 20/1200 vision in both eyes. Co lost most of cos vision to retinopathy of prematurity, being the only one of the four to get to stage five before surgery could be done, and then lost most of cos remaining vision to glaucoma when co was seven.
Mara is a close second with 20/1000 vision in both eyes. Maverick managed to keep her retinopathy of prematurity from causing too much damage, but Mara lost a great deal of her vision when she had glaucoma for three years before she could get surgery for it. Mara has some residual vision, but she considers it useless due to how photosensitive, blurry, and dark her vision is. Mara tends to wear hearing aids to get even more information from her sense of hearing, as she also has decreased sensation due to her scars. She'll fix her eyes when shapeshifted because being noticeably blind puts a massive target on her back, but she still doesn't really know how to get information from her vision and her shapeshifting comes undone when she's upset, meaning enough distress can make her blind again. Her sense of hearing is far more reliable than her eyes, vision restored or not, so why bother with vision?
Mary had 20/600 in bloods left eye and 20/400 in bloods right eye. Blood managed to recover from stage one retinopathy or prematurity without medical intervention and, while blood lost a lot of vision to glaucoma, blood could still see. Until D'Arque cut out bloods eyes.
Riah, because he got early treatment for both retinopathy of prematurity and glaucoma, has 20/200 vision in both eyes, but his eyes are also very photosensitive. He's the only one of the four who can sort-of rely on his vision, but he still struggles to get information from it and gets more information faster from his sense of hearing, touch, and smell.

*GLAUCOMA- A SILENT THIEF OF SIGHT* Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause damage to the optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss and blindness if left untreated. It is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness worldwide. While there is no known cure for glaucoma, early detection and treatment can help to slow or prevent further vision loss. Regular eye exams, especially for those over the age of 40 or with a family history of glaucoma, are important for detecting the disease in its early stages. Treatment options for glaucoma may include eye drops, oral medications, laser therapy, or surgery. The specific treatment plan will depend on the type and severity of glaucoma, as well as other individual factors such as age and overall health. In addition to regular eye exams and timely treatment, certain lifestyle modifications can also help to reduce the risk of developing glaucoma. These may include maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and managing any underlying health conditions such as diabetes. Overall, the prevention of glaucoma-related blindness relies on a combination of early detection, timely treatment, and healthy lifestyle choices. This week is all about Glaucoma awareness. Visit an eye clinic and get your eyes screened. The World is bright, Save your sight. Uveitis Symptoms Causes & Treatment
Uveitis, also known as middle layer inflammation, is a condition in which the eye develops. The iris, the ciliary body, and the choroid make up this structure. They control light penetration, produce aqueous hormone (fluid filling up front parts), and supply blood and oxygen to the retina.
Uveitis may be caused by infection, an autoimmune disorder, or idiopathic (of unknown origin). Uveitis can cause eye pain, blurred vision and sensitivity to light. Uveitis can be treated with steroid eye drops/injections, oral medications, or surgery in the most severe cases.
If you suspect you might have uveitis, it is important to seek immediate medical attention. Untreated, it can lead to vision loss and glaucoma.
Tumblr media
What are the symptoms of Uveitis?
There are many symptoms associated with uveitis. They can vary depending on the cause. Nevertheless, there are some common symptoms and signs associated with this eye condition:
Eye pain
Eyes are red
Blurred vision
Photophobia - Sensitivity towards light
Floaters are small spots or specks that appear to float in your field of vision.
Vision loss or decreased vision
Headaches
Tearing or watering down the eyes
Eye irritation or discomfort
Uveitis can present in various stages. Some people may not have symptoms at all, and some inflammation may only be diagnosed during routine eye exams. Consult an eye doctor if you have any of these symptoms, or have concerns about your eyes health.
What is the treatment for Uveitis?
The treatment of uveitis depends on the severity, location and cause. The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation, alleviate symptoms, prevent complications, and preserve vision. The following are common treatments for uveitis:
Uveitis must be treated immediately to prevent complications and maintain vision. It is recommended that you have regular follow-up visits with your eye doctor to monitor the condition, adjust treatment, and report any changes.
Tumblr media
Regular visits to your doctor are important. Advance Ayurvedic Eye Care by Sanjeevan Netralaya is extremely effective for Uveitis and all other retinal problems. Each patient's health and history is considered and a customized treatment is created for them. This ensures that there are no side effects and pain-free treatment.

Lasik Eye Surgery
Why is LASIK Surgery deployed?
Tumblr media
LASIK is a safe and effective surgery for correcting nearsightedness and farsightedness. It uses a laser to reshape the cornea so that people can see better with no glasses or contact lenses.
Who Is a Good Candidate for LASIK Surgery?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best candidate for LASIK surgery will vary depending on individual factors such as eye health and vision history. However, some of the most common reasons why people may choose to have LASIK surgery are because they suffer from nearsightedness or farsightedness (a condition in which a person can see things close but not distant), or due to concerns about their ability to wear contact lenses long term. If you think that you might be a good candidate for LASIK surgery, it's important
What to Expect With LASIK Surgery
There are many factors that should be considered before undergoing LASIK surgery, such as your age and eye health. However, some of the most important things to know about LASIK include:
How well does the LASIK procedure work?
About 95% of patients who have undergone Lasik report excellent visual results. These individuals generally see a significant improvement in their vision, with reduced or eliminated nearsightedness and farsightedness. Some people experience minor post-operative complications related to dry eyes or glare but these are typically mild and temporary. Many patients also say that
Cataract Surgery or Cataract Treatment
Tumblr media
It is a surgical procedure that restores vision by removing the cataract lens from your eye. There are many excellent ophthalmologists in Delhi who can treat cataracts and provide you with stunning restored vision. Here is a list of some of the best eye surgeons in Delhi:
Dr Chirag Mittal – One of India’s most renowned ophthalmologists, has treated thousands of patients over his near 20-year career. He is well-known for his skillful cataract surgery and provides superb results to all his patients.
What are cataracts?
A cataract is a cloudy lens. The lens is positioned behind the colored part of your eye (iris). The lens focuses light that passes into your eye, producing clear, sharp images on the retina — the light-sensitive membrane in the eye that functions like the film in a camera.
As you age, the lenses in your eyes become less flexible, less transparent and thicker. Age-related and other medical conditions cause proteins and fibers within the lenses to break down and clump together, clouding the lenses.
As the cataract continues to develop, the clouding becomes denser. A cataract scatters and blocks the light as it passes through the lens, preventing a sharply defined image from reaching your retina. As a result, your vision becomes blurred.
Cataracts generally develop in both eyes, but not always at the same rate. The cataract in one eye may be more advanced than the other, causing a difference in vision between eyes.
It is generally advised to use eye drops to lubricate your eyes. Please discuss with your eye specialist about which drops to use and how frequently.
What are the types of cataracts?
There are different types of cataracts, which can affect any part of the eye. They can be congenital (present from birth), acquired (caused by an injury or disease), or result from age-related changes in the lens.
Cataract types include:
Cataracts affecting the center of the lens (nuclear cataracts). A nuclear cataract may at first cause more nearsightedness or even a temporary improvement in your reading vision. But with time, the lens gradually turns more densely yellow and further clouds your vision.
As the cataract slowly progresses, the lens may even turn brown. Advanced yellowing or browning of the lens can lead to difficulty distinguishing between shades of color.
Cataracts that affect the edges of the lens (cortical cataracts). A cortical cataract begins as whitish, wedge-shaped opacities or streaks on the outer edge of the lens cortex. As it slowly progresses, the streaks extend to the center and interfere with light passing through the center of the lens.
Cataracts that affect the back of the lens (posterior subcapsular cataracts). A posterior subcapsular cataract starts as a small, opaque area that usually forms near the back of the lens, right in the path of light. A posterior subcapsular cataract often interferes with your reading vision, reduces your vision in bright light, and causes glare or halos around lights at night. These types of cataracts tend to progress faster than other types do.
Cataracts you're born with (congenital cataracts). Some people are born with cataracts or develop them during childhood. These cataracts may be genetic, or associated with an intrauterine infection or trauma.
These cataracts may also be due to certain conditions, such as myotonic dystrophy, galactosemia, neurofibromatosis type 2 or rubella. Congenital cataracts don't always affect vision, but if they do, they're usually removed soon after detection.
What are the symptoms of cataracts?
Signs and symptoms (watch out for symptoms in your family) of cataracts include:
Clouded, blurred or dim vision
Increasing difficulty with vision at night
Sensitivity to light and glare
Need for brighter light for reading and other activities
Seeing "halos" around lights
Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription
Fading or yellowing of colors
Double vision in a single eye
How can I prevent cataracts?
There is no one definitive answer, but some tips to help prevent cataracts include living a healthy lifestyle and avoiding smoking, excessive drinking, and using sunscreens that contain harmful chemicals. Additionally, getting regular eye exams is an important step in maintaining your vision health. If you are experiencing any symptoms or difficulty seeing clearly, contact your doctor for consultation on the best way to protect your eyesight.
What’s the treatment for cataracts?
There is no one-size-fits all answer to this question as the best eye surgeries for cataract correction will vary depending on the type of cataract and your specific medical needs. However, some common treatments for cataracts include laser surgery, contact lens removal, and intraocular lens implants.
Dr. Chirag Mittal at AMVision Eye Care is renowned eye specialist in Delhi, and can provide best evaluation and options for long term relief from cataracts. He can be contacted at AMVision Eye and Child Care, Delhi.
GLAUCOMA
Tumblr media
What is Glaucoma and which is the best place to get Eye Surgery done?
There is no definitive answer to this question as glaucoma can be caused by many different factors, such as age, family history, eye health and other medical conditions. That said, some of the best eye surgeons in Delhi who specialize in treating glaucoma are likely to include specialists at AMVision Eye Care, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi amongst others.
SQUINTS
What are Squints?
A squint is a narrowing of the visual field that can be caused by an obstruction in one or both eyes. Squints (one of the most troublesome eye problems) normally go away on their own after a few weeks, but they can occasionally lead to vision problems.
Preparing for squint surgery?
If you are considering squint surgery, then it is important to find an eye surgeon who has experience and expertise in this area. There are a number of factors to consider when selecting the best eye surgeon for your particular case, including location, experience, qualifications and prices. If you are in Delhi:
Dr Chirag Mittal - Dr Mittal is a well-known ophthalmologist with years of experience in treating vision problems. He operates out of AMVision Eye and Child Care in New Delhi and offers a full range of services related to squint surgery.
What happens during squint surgery?
During squint surgery, an incision is made in the patient's skin above their eye and a small window is created. The surgeon then uses a special instrument to remove excess tissue on either side of the pupil (the black part of your eye). This allows light to enter directly into the eye, which often improves vision.
After squint surgery
After the squint surgery people may notice improvement in their vision. There are many eye surgeons available in Delhi with different experience and qualifications.
Some of the best eye surgeons in Delhi include:
- Dr Chirag Mittal, an ophthalmologist based out of Laxmi Nagar in Delhi is one of the top eye surgery specialists in India having a vast experience over more than two decades. He has performed operations for cataract, glaucoma and other eyes related problems amongst others.
Returning to normal activities after squint surgery
This can be a little challenging, but with the help of an experienced eye surgeon in Delhi, you can get back to your usual routine quickly and comfortably. Dr. Chirag Mittal and his team are some of the best eye surgeons in Delhi, who have years of experience helping patients regain their vision after surgery.

1) Dr. Chirag Mittal

3) Dr. Sandeep Khanna

The best surgeons in Delhi specialize in this type of surgery. They may also perform other eye surgeries, such as cataract removal and glaucoma treatment.
Questions:
Why Does My Eye Twitch?
Twitching of the eye can be due to a number of reasons, but is most often caused by muscle spasms. It may also occur as a result of nerve damage or other medical conditions.

What Are the Symptoms of Cataracts, and When Is Cataract Surgery Necessary?
Tumblr media
If you’ve noticed changes in your vision or suspect you may have cataracts, it’s crucial to understand the symptoms and treatment options available. Fakeeh University Hospital offers comprehensive eye care, including cataract surgery, to help restore your vision and improve your quality of life.
Common Symptoms of Cataracts
Cataracts typically develop slowly, and in the early stages, you might not notice any significant changes.
However, as the cataract progresses, you may begin to experience the following symptoms:
Blurry or Cloudy Vision: One of the earliest signs is a gradual blurring or clouding of vision, making it feel like you’re looking through a frosted window.
Difficulty Seeing at Night: Cataracts can cause increased sensitivity to light and glare, particularly when driving at night.
Fading or Yellowing of Colors: You might notice that colors appear less vibrant or slightly yellowish.
Halos Around Lights: Bright lights may appear to have halos around them, which can be especially noticeable in low-light conditions.
Frequent Changes in Prescription Glasses: If you need frequent changes to your eyeglass or contact lens prescription, it may be a sign of cataracts.
Double Vision in One Eye: Cataracts can cause double vision, usually in one eye, which is different from the normal binocular double vision caused by eye misalignment.
Sensitivity to Light: Bright sunlight or indoor lighting might feel too intense or cause discomfort.
Tumblr media
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult an ophthalmologist to get a proper diagnosis. Early detection can help you manage the condition before it severely impacts your daily life.
When Is Cataract Surgery Necessary?
While cataracts cannot be treated with medication or lifestyle changes, surgery is a highly effective solution. Cataract surgery is generally recommended when your vision problems start to interfere with your ability to perform everyday tasks, such as reading, driving, or recognizing faces.
You may need cataract surgery if:
Your vision has deteriorated to the point where it affects your work or personal life.
You’re struggling with activities like driving at night or reading.
Your eye doctor determines that the cataract is significantly reducing your vision and affecting your quality of life.
What to Expect During Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery is one of the most common and safest procedures performed in ophthalmology. During the surgery, the cloudy lens in your eye is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This helps restore clear vision and reduces the need for glasses after surgery. Fakeeh University Hospital’s ophthalmology department uses advanced technology to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
The surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia, and the procedure takes less than an hour. Most patients can return home the same day. After the surgery, your eye will heal over the course of a few weeks, and your vision will gradually improve.
