50 KITCHEN WITCH TIPS TO MAKE YOU FEEL MORE WITCHY
(And other useful things I've learned over the years)
Hi! This is a list of dos, don'ts, tips, tricks, and other fun things that I've learned over the years. I always love finding more effective and efficient ways of doing things so if you have any cool things you'd like to add, leave them in the comments or reblog. I'd love to read it.
Anyways... On with the list ^_^
Light candles around your kitchen space (just make sure nothing flammable is near you)
Annotate your cookbooks with the correspondence of the ingredients.
Mediating is really good to calm the mind before cooking.
Cut oranges and lemons thinly, dry them, and hang them with twine around your kitchen
Need a cleansing tip? Open all your windows near your kitchen. Let some fresh air in.
Cutting sigils into apples, pie crusts, and carved potatoes.
Save lemon and orange rinds, freeze them, and then use them to clean the garbage disposal.
Make infused oils and honey: Things like garlic honey, lavender honey, herb oil, sun oil, moon oil, dandelion oil, and other different edible oils are very fun and useful to make.
Hid sigils in pages of your cookbooks and kitchen witch journals.
Add some plants! Snake plants and spider plants don't need too much light, and growing your own herbs in your kitchen is awesome too. Basil, lavender, thyme, aloe vera, rosemary, etc. are good fits. You could also add some plants that require more sunlight on the kitchen window sill. Like cacti and succulents.
Bring crystals into your kitchen space such as rose quartz, clear quartz, amethyst, or whatever you want the space's intentions to be.
I keep a small money tree on the sill, along with cacti for luck and protection.
Make a simmer Pot! Mostly because it makes the whole house smell good, easy, and fun.
Stir clockwise for best results!
Learning how to pickle things is actually pretty witchy. Plus, anyone could do it as it requires absolutely no kitchen experience. You could pickle any vegetable, even if you don't like pickles. I originally learned this after having to take shelter from a natural disaster. A person brought a bunch of stuff and taught us how to pickle things with different spices and herbs. Very fun!
Decorate your kitchen with your favorite stuff. Crystals, decor, heat mits, that cool mushroom cake stand you've been eyeing at the World Market for the past 2 weeks, cool looking curtains, sun catchers. Why stop there? Paint the walls, hang shelves full of marked-up cookbooks that are a little too well-loved and thumbed through.
Wanna be the person that has the amazing-smelling house every time people come over? Syrups take some time to simmer down, it's actually a pretty good time to leave it on the stove to simmer. Since syrups have a lot of aromatic ingredients, it acts as a really good-smelling simmer pot.
Hang up herbs to dry with twine from cabinets that are rarely used.
Invest in that new set of plates and cups.
Homemade jams, butter, sauces, and syrups are your best friend.
Crochet or knit your own dish rags, pot holders, etc.
Don't pour extremely hot things into a glass that's not Pyrex, it will break, and you will be very sad about it.
Don't cook anything while extremely upset or emotional (For safety reasons)
Make recipes you want to make, not just because you'll like the effect. Make it because you think it's tasty.
Chinese Five Spice works in place of herbs for protection and luck spells a lot of the time! It's cheaper to buy 1 spice than 4 different spices that total up to 15 dollars when you could just spend 3-4 dollars.
Take a shower before cooking (I don't know how to explain this one other than it makes you feel better)
Don't use microfiber/plastic material clothes on hot burners, it will fuse to the burner and melt. It is VERY hard to get off.
I don't know if I need to put this one but I did see someone do it so nonstick pan = wooden utensils and plastic utensils, metal pan = metal utensils. Do not use a metal spoon in a nonstick pan, please. It can make you very sick.
Keep your pets away from hot oil, open ovens, and hot pans.
You can proof bread dough in the fridge overnight if you don't have the time to bake, or want to eat fresh bread right in the morning.
Need a quick witchy meal for dinner in 12 minutes? Use premade tomato pasta sauce and doctor it up with thyme, rosemary, and garlic, for protection and distilling stagnant energies. Serve with pasta of your liking.
You can substitute Butter for Crisco/shortening, buttermilk for 1 cup of milk + 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, and heavy cream for 1 cup of half and half plus 2 tbsp of butter.
Use leftover animal bones to make bone broth
Teach yourself the art of bread scoring (It's fun, and you can show it off to your loved ones!)
Collect and hoard your own and others' family recipes.
Sometimes the food doesn't have to be a spell, sometimes it just makes you feel good and you don't know why.
Listen to your favorite music in the kitchen, it makes the monotonous things like chopping veggies move faster.
Invest in a vegetable chopper if you don't like chopping vegetables.
Find a really good hot cocoa recipe and make it once a week. Master it. Just for your own happiness because hot cocoa is really good. You could also be the friend/family member that makes the best hot cocoa ever.
Focaccia Bread Lasts a very long time, and it's very easy to make!
Keep a first aid kit near where the oven is, in case of burns, cuts, or serious injuries where time is everything.
Quick Bread and no-rise loaves are simple for beginners, tasty, and take little time. They also feel very witchy to make.
Study a bit of Herbalism! It's fun and really helps better understand the herbs you're putting into your food.
While something is boiling, put your wooden spoon over the pot to minimize the chance of something boiling over.
Try a bit of coffee magick, it's simple to get into, and gives you a boost of energy to take on the day!
If you're over 21, wine-making is a very interesting way to celebrate the sabbats. Just with that, make sure you KNOW what you're doing. With anything fermented, there's always a risk if you don't store things correctly. Apple wines, strawberry wines, dandelion wines, etc. all very cool to experiment with. If you're not over 21, vinegar is a similar way to experiment.
Hang up some witchy things, sigils, photos, cool magnets, and other things that give you joy on your fridge. (Sometimes if you are lucky they have some fun magnets at five below)
If you live in the US, for some reason, there are a lot of books in the book section dedicated to witchcraft and spirituality. At least where I live. And they are all under 5 dollars!
Teas are the cheapest and easiest things you can practice being a kitchen witch.

Batfam magical girl AU where a magical villain's spell fucks with the Gotham smog and causes the constellations of the Gotham night sky to shatter and fall. People who were standing there in the street at that moment are suddenly hit with magical fragments and becoming the Galaxy, also known as Stars of Gotham, magical protectors of the city now that the power of the enchanted Gotham night sky is broken and can't protect it from the forces of evil anymore (which explains why the city is so ridden with crime).
Bruce's new ward, Dick Grayson, is running away from the manor to try and hunt down his parents' murderer, Bruce hot on his tail. The two of them arrive to the harbour during the Starfall. Dick is hit with two fragments, the Constellation of the Robin and the dormant Constellation of the Bird, which get lodged in his heart. Bruce is hit with the Constellation of the Bat in a similar manner.
Barbara Gordon shouldn't be sneaking out, really, but her dad still hasn't come home from the police precinct and she just wanted to walk there and take him home when she is struck with the dormant Constellation of the Whispering Woman.
A couple alleys over, a very young boy is hiding from his mom's dealer in the alley near his apartment complex when he is hit by the dormant Constellation of the Wolf.
Over in the Bowlery, Crystal Brown is walking with her baby in her arms when said baby is hit with the dormant Constellation of the Closed Fist.
In the Narrows, Ellen Thomas is struck with the power of the dormant Constellation of the Eclipse.
Bruce becomes Batman, holder of the most powerful constellation in Gotham, with Dick's Robin at his side. But the fragment of the Bat constellation is too powerful and unstable, threatening his life as Bruce's crystal core grows inside his heart. Him, Kate and Barbara work together to stabilize the crystal, which works, but in the process of its extraction it shatters in four, one part in Bruce's chest, one part that they protect in a glass case, and one part in Kate's and Barbara's chests.
Dormant fragments tend to awaken in situations of crisis or great changes in somebody's life. This is how Dick's Bird fragment awakens as he fights with Bruce over firing him and taking in a new kid without telling him. Because Dick can't take the strain of two star fragments, he gives it to Jason after spending a day getting to know eachother and bonding as brothers, and the start of Nightwing and Robin.
After Barbara is shot and paralyzed, the fragments of the Whispering Woman awaken and keep her alive long enough to get to the hospital, but the cohabitation with her bat fragment endangers hers, so she eventually gives it to Bruce's newly adopted daughter Cassandra.
When Jason dies, they extract the Robin fragment from his heart because an awoken fragment in a dead body is a recipe for a big explosion. Tim fuses with the Robin fragment in the Batcave in order to save Batman's life. Steph has a turn with the Robin fragment when Tim has to retire because of his dad, until she is kidnapped by Black Mask and her closed fist constellation awakens, enabling her escape with an awesome burst of power but endangering her, leading to Tim reabsorbing the fragment.
Jason's wolf constellation awakens while he's in the coffin, and the strength of this magical disturbance brings him back to life, though it's unfortunately not enough to heal his brain damage.
Damian is a special case, a child born of someone with a crystal core (since Bruce was already a magical girl when at his conception). Because of this, he has a natural crystal core which is compatible with the reception of another fragment, so when the Robin fragment grows uncontrollably in a bid to make up for Bruce's absence, Damian absorbs part of it and his powers become a hybrid of the Robin and the Bat's, and he inherits Robin while Tim becomes Red Robin.
Duke, similar to Damian, inherits his powers from Ellen, and they begin to manifest as he finds himself in foster care and joing a gang of Robin fan children, leading to being eventually taken in by Bruce.
All of them have magical girl transformation sequences complete with glitter, diamonds and classic magical girl anime costumes.

Fusion Dance:
I think someone mentioned this on discord but how would Lord Billy react to a pocketverse Billy?
So I wrote a bit of a ficlet to go with this Tagging @neonponders and @wrecked-fuse as well XD enjoy this little blurb I vomited out!
-------------
Sometimes, Billy wonders why he even bothers anymore. Steve Harrington has gotten along well with his children, it was important to him. But that came with getting involved with his children's antics. Both him and that boy-child of his. Sorry. Dustin.
He was getting better at remembering his name. For the sake of Lucas, who has a little crush on Steve's son. Regardless of that fact, the castle had been livelier than Billy has ever seen. Or was used to. Even with his servants bustling around. Anyways. "Steve...darling. What is that in your hands?" he asked slowly staring at the cupped hands of his lover. Steve only grinned, holding his hands out towards him, "Have a peek, Lady Bird~" His children claimed that they had found something in the courtyard and dragged Steve to go and check it out. Billy hadn't cared much, it might have been another bug or small mammal. Not...whatever this was.
It was small and...
Billy pressed his lips into a thin line, he really had no idea what he was looking at. Where was that-ah there it was, in the bottom left drawer. He didn't use it all that much anymore, his magnifying glass but it helped. Especially now, squinting as he peered through the glass. He said nothing at first, just staring at what he was seeing. "What a peculiar creature you are." Everything and everyone was small to him, he always had to be careful not to crush the many good things he had in his life with his abnormal strength. But this.
Glaring up at him was a mini version of him. Well, kind of. This one had a mullet, an opened red shirt and jeans. With a small pout on his face. It-he, well he was adorable. The poor thing was shaking though, might be through fear. Billy had that affect on people, for better or for worst.
Billy guessed that he could fit into his pocket if he put him in there. "I suppose your name is...Billy?"
"Where's my Biwwy!"
Billy raised an eyebrow at Steve who shrugged a little bit, "The little guy apparently got lost, stumbling into some weird portal or something from what he said. He's far from home."
"Clearly," Billy muttered in response, reaching out with one finger to poke at the little's cheek. "I won't hurt you." Billy wasn't going to comment on the warm feeling he felt when the miniature version of him clung to his finger, his eyes watering with tears and bottom lip puckered.
"Okay...where's my Stevie...?"
Oh. They were a pair. He and Steve looked at each other, the other mouthing 'no Stevie' to him. Huh, the poor thing really did get lost then. Steve grinned up at him, "We are a pair."
"Seems like I can never get rid of you then," Billy said with a smirk, leading over to give Steve a kiss. "We should get this one something to eat first, and maybe getting that agent of yours to help get him home." Steve scowled with a roll of his eyes, opting to bringing the little Billy to his chest, allowing him to slip inside of his coat pocket.
"Hopper isn't my agent."
"Hm."
"Billy!"
---------
"So that was how they found him in hanging on one of the candle holders. Sorry about that, you must have been really worried about him."
Billy paused in his reading, the quiet chomps and clattering of the plate next to him were the only other sounds in the main hall. He had to bar the kids from coming around the little Billy with their sickles. They had pouted only to relent when the little guy had yelled at them. Billy closed the book in his lap, taking up the crimson wine glass and taking a sip.
"I think your friends are here-"
"Biwwy!"
Little Billy jumped up from the saucer, waving his arms at the people following Steve. Billy raised an eyebrow at the two...well regular versions of themselves. Then again, they had the little ones already, there shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
"You're big."
Billy smirked, snapping his book shut and standing up from the couch. He grinned at the shock on both of the other Billy and Steve standing before him with a little Steve in that Steve's pocket. "9 foot 6, but who is really counting here?"
"Stevie! Cwere! He has coowkies!"

Episode 1: Ladybug & Cat Noir Origins
A man shrouded in shadows vows to reclaim the Miraculouses he needs in order to "bring her back."
Meanwhile, Master Fu senses the activation of the Butterfly Miraculous. Realizing that new holders are needed, he opens his gramophone, revealing the Miracle Box. But before he can act, the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses escape, slipping from his grasp. Desperate, Fu chases them down the street.
It's Marinette's first day back at school. As she walks, she spots Fu running into the street, chasing something unseen. She tries to save him from an oncoming car, but in an instant, they're both struck. Through the haze of pain, Marinette glimpses Fu, unconscious and bleeding beside her.
In the ambulance, she drifts between consciousness and darkness, catching sight of an ethereal, otherworldly being—a spirit named Tikki. In her weakened state, Marinette listens as Tikki reveals her destiny, explaining who Marinette is meant to become and the role she must play.
At school, Adrien walks through the halls, drawing instant attention. Vibrant and charming, he strides alongside Chloe, but when he takes a seat beside Nino in class, he's met with a cold, suspicious glare. To Nino, Adrien and Chloe are loud, arrogant, and far from friends.
That afternoon, Marinette returns home from the hospital, never having made it to school. In her room, she finds the ladybug earrings waiting for her. She slips them on, and suddenly they fuse with her skin, painfully infusing her with magical energy. Tikki reappears, startling Marinette.
Across town, Adrien discovers a mysterious ring. When he puts it on, it too transforms, melding with him in a wave of energy. Plagg, a tall, shadowy demon-like creature, appears to him.
Tikki urges Marinette to transform, and in a flash, she's flung across Paris, landing on the roof of Notre Dame. But she miscalculates, crashing through a stained glass window and shattering every bone in her body upon impact. Cat Noir watches in shock, horrified at her broken form. But in an instant, Marinette begins to heal, painfully rising to her feet.
After a grueling fight with the monstrous Gargoyle, she's supposed to purify the Akuma—but she forgets.
Adrien returns home, confessing to Plagg that he's already fallen for her. Meanwhile, Marinette stumbles home, desperate to take off the earrings that have forever changed her. But they won't come off. She breaks down in terror.
At dinner, she sees a news report about the Gargoyle wreaking havoc. Fleeing to her room, she's devastated as Tikki explains her mistake—she failed to purify the Akuma. The weight of the responsibility overwhelms her, leaving Marinette in doubt, convinced this role isn't meant for her.

Max could play a big role in Miraculous
I mean, I wouldn’t neglect such a character as him. I think, I have soft spot for geniuses.
Max Kanté is fricking genius who was able to create his own best friend, Markov: a tiny robot who’s capable to feel human emotions and also developing on his own. He’s also the holder of the horse miraculous and goes by the hero name of Pegasus.
Who knows how high his IQ is, except when Lila is around. It looks like every character’s IQ drops to a one digit number whenever she’s there. Like, were they really serius about that whole scene?!
„LilA, yOu SaVeD mY eYe!” First of all, Max, YOU WEAR GLASSES! And second of all, THE NAPKIN DIDN’T EVEN FLY THAT DIRECTION! This whole scene was RIDICULOUS! UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!
Whatever. The point of this post isn’t to mock the poor writing choices now.
What I mean when I say Max could play a big role in Miraculous?
Let’s look at who’s gonna be one of the potential threat in the next season first.
Tomoe Tsurugi
I’ve already made a post about how a think Tomoe was the main reason why people now view Gabriel as a hero.
So, who’s she?
She has her own tech company, the Tsurugi Industries, which produces various different kinds of electronical devices. It looks like they’re all around the world as well.
She has a lot up her sleeves and not just because of her variety of machines and robots. She also knows about Gabriel’s secret identity and what he did, she probably has a vast knowledge about Miraculouses and Kwamis. And she was able to fuse the Kwamis’s power with her technology.
So what’s the most effective way to defeat an antagonist who’s power lies within technology?
By having someone in your team who’s as capable, or more, in terms of technology as the enemy.
SO LET MAX HACK THAT B#TCH WITH MARKOV!
Like seriously!
There's a scenario that I've been thinking about for a while now:
The Tsurugi Industries giving out internships for aspiring engineers or scientists as a new project or something. Max could easily be qualified for the role and it's also a good opportunity so he'd apply. Max, of course would tell his friends about it. Marinette knowing how big of a threat Tomoe is, visit him as Ladybug to ask if he could snoop around a little bit. Having Markov and also Kaalki would be an advantage in a situation like this.
I think the main issue why Ladybug and Chat Noir weren't successful in defeating Hawkmoth was partly because they always waited for him to make the first move, they couldn't prepare for the attack and they could just only fight back. But if they had an inside person, someone who could leak information, then they could prepare a plan and finally make the first move. I think Max would be perfect for that job.
There's a possibility that Tomoe actually knows that Max is Pegasus, since in "Miracle Queen" Hawkmoth managed to learn who are the other miraculous holders at that time and he might have told her.
I've written this completely ignoring that since as I mentioned above, I have soft spot for geniuses.

OC Stand- [Cake By The Ocean]
[Cake By The Ocean]: this stand is a Automatic stand that manifests as Four little Gremlins about the size of a Bottle of soda, with Birthday candle helmets with a lit flame, and metal Segmented arms that wrap around a target and fuse with the spot they wrapped around. Targets that have [Cake By The Ocean] fused to their body will always be stepping on Quicksand, the ground they stand on is converted into Quicksand that, if they don't want to sink in, must keep running, the second they stop, they will begin to rapidly sink, and the Candle on [Cake By The Ocean]'s heads is lit, creating heat that will tire the target out, and will burn and destroy anything keeping them off the ground. Once the target is completely buried in the Quicksand, [Cake By The Ocean] will immediately raise the temperature to the point the quicksand is immediately melted down, as when as turning the target to coal and ash, which leads all the material of the melted sand and the Targets remains to be pulled in on the fire, turning into a Abstractly shaped Gem, colored in shades of Blue, Green, and Pink based on the targets Emotional Value, Physical Value, and Potential Value, and will Have Opalized sea Shells inside.
-however, that's only if the Target is a Foe in the eyes of the user. if the Target is an Ally or the user themselves, [Cake By The Ocean] latches onto the target and Gives the Target a limited use of Pyrokinesis, and Sand Manipulation, as well as cover the ground around them with save that they can effortlessly Skate and Slide on. If Two of [Cake By The Ocean] latch onto the Target, the Fire and Sand Manipulation combines into Glass Manipulation, from Glass in a Liquid(like Oobleck or honey) or Melted States, and glass constructs.
-Handling more then 2 of [Cake By The Ocean] leads to the person bursting into Flames, regardless of Friend, Foe, or Stand Owner.
-The Gems made from Foes also give those holding them Limited power over Gravity, forcing a target being Glared at by the user to suddenly be shifted on a Gravity axis, forcing them to be pulled by the X or Y axis rather then The Z axis. Though, this is easier said then done by the holder because the Gem is the Size of a Foot ball and weighs 20 Pounds, and they have to be standing Straight for its power to activate, and they have to be actively Glare at the target, if line of sight is broken, target is freed.

so the one in the first image in the original post is actually not what i wrote the letter with, it's a thin/flex nib quill and I used a speedball c-4 size to write the bulk of the letter.
that flex nib is permenantly fused to that purple-magenta feather but I've got both quills and regular pens to hold other nibs I write with:
the ones in the holders on the left are removeable, but I hot glue the nibs to the ones on the right for stability.
For the most part I use flat nibs, so I'm not afraid of warping the tips all that much but I still story them upright in the cup for the pens I regularily work with
the feather quills are kept downwards simply because that's how they fit, but I bought that glass bottle from a dollarstore and the small mouth keeps them comfortably upright

Why Choose Glass-Coated Bolted Steel Tanks for Wastewater Storage?
When it comes to storing and treating wastewater, durability and safety are of paramount importance. Our Glass-Coated Bolted Steel Tanks are designed to withstand harsh chemical environments, prevent leaks, and offer a long-term, cost-effective solution. Here’s why they stand out:
1. Glass-Coated Steel Technology for Superior Corrosion Resistance
Our tanks are constructed from high-strength steel that is coated with a layer of glass enamel, a process known as Glass-Fused-to-Steel (GFS). This coating is baked onto the steel at high temperatures (above 800°C), forming a seamless and highly durable glass layer. The result is a tank with exceptional corrosion resistance, ideal for containing corrosive wastewater. Whether the wastewater is acidic, alkaline, or contains other harmful chemicals, the glass coating prevents corrosion and ensures a long service life.
2. Gas and Liquid Impermeability
Wastewater often contains gases and liquids that can cause contamination or harm to the environment if not properly stored. Our Glass-Coated Bolted Steel Tanks are designed to be completely impermeable to both gas and liquid. This feature is crucial for preventing leaks and ensuring that harmful gases or contaminants do not escape into the environment. The glass coating provides a barrier that is resistant to most chemicals and environmental factors, which is particularly important in municipal and industrial wastewater applications.
3. Over 30 Years of Service Life
Our Glass-Coated Bolted Steel Tanks are built to last. With proper maintenance, these tanks provide more than 30 years of reliable service. The unique glass coating not only enhances the steel’s strength but also provides a long-lasting solution with minimal upkeep. This longevity makes them a cost-effective investment, as their long service life reduces the need for frequent repairs or replacements, ensuring a high return on investment (ROI).
4. Modular and Flexible Design
Our bolted tank design allows for easy transportation, fast installation, and scalability. The modular design consists of pre-fabricated steel panels that are bolted together on-site, making installation faster and more efficient than traditional welded or concrete tanks. Additionally, the modular construction allows for future expansions or modifications, making it a flexible solution for projects with changing storage requirements.
5. Low Maintenance and Easy to Clean
The smooth surface of the glass coating is highly resistant to fouling, making it easy to clean and maintain. The non-porous nature of the enamel coating prevents dirt, algae, and other contaminants from adhering to the tank walls, reducing cleaning time and labor costs. This low-maintenance feature is particularly valuable in wastewater treatment plants, where efficient operations are crucial to maintaining water quality.

Electric Fuses: Key Facts You Should Know
What is the use of Fuses?
Fuses are safety devices in electrical systems. They protect circuits and devices from excess current. Their main job is to stop overheating, fires, and equipment failure. They do this by cutting off electricity when it becomes too high. When too much current flows, a fuse’s metal melts. This breaks the circuit and stops the flow. Thus, it protects devices and prevents hazards. Fuses are vital for the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
What are the advantages of Electric Fuses
Safety: Fuses are essential. They break the circuit in case of overcurrent or shorts. This prevents fires and damage to equipment.
Simplicity: Fuses are simple, with no moving parts. This makes them easy to install and maintain. Their design also lowers the chance of malfunction.
Cost-Effective: Fuses are cheap compared to other circuit protectors. So, they are a cost-effective way to safeguard electrical systems.
Quick Response: Fuses react quickly to overcurrents. They protect the circuit and devices.
No Maintenance Required: Once a fuse blows, it simply needs to be replaced. No need for ongoing maintenance. It simplifies managing electrical systems.
Wide Range of Applications: Fuses can be used in many places. They protect household appliances, cars, industrial machines, and power grids. They offer versatile protection across different environments.
Buying Guide for Electric Fuses
Determine Purpose: Identify if the fuse is for appliances, cars, machinery, or electronics.
Choose Type: Choose from a cartridge, blade, glass tube, or resettable fuses. Use one based on your application.
Current Rating: The fuse’s current rating must match or slightly exceed your circuit’s.
Voltage Rating: Check that the fuse’s voltage rating meets or exceeds the circuit’s.
Response Time: Choose between fast-blow (for sensitive electronics) or slow-blow (for devices with surges).
Environmental Suitability: Consider if the fuse needs to withstand heat or moisture.
Size and Form Factor: Ensure the fuse fits your fuse holder or panel.
Quality: Opt for reputable brands and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Cost and Availability: Balance cost with quality and availability of replacements.
Consult Experts: When in doubt, seek advice from electrical experts or suppliers.

Unscheduled swap.
The Harman Kardon is in the rack. The ARC is on the floor upside down with its bottom cover off.
We were just grooving to some 1970s music when it went quiet. Lights on the front of the big amp went dark. The line fuse failed? Huh???
No weirder than that. The fuse holder gave out. It may have been fiddled with before as there was solder inside where none should be. So I got the old HK Citation 12 from its place of rest. I wrestled out the ARC. Fk it is heavy, and put the tiny HK in its place.
They are both rated at 60 Watts per side. 1960s versus 1990s.
At first oh shit what is that sound? Harsh, tinny. Cold transistors? By the time I got my soldering gun (yes gun, tiny irons are for girls) and pulled the old bakelite (??) fuse thing out the HK had got WAY better.
The upturned tuber looks like a monster spilled its guts. Gobs of wires and fancy yellow capacitors. Poor thing. Of course I will find a new panel mount fuse holder. Hey two the other one is old too. The wires in there are tight bundles. I should have her back together tomorrow. There is an AUTOPARTS store that has the part nearby.
So the HK is settling down. Just finished side 2 of pawnshop. The big difference is the lovely golden textures have been replaced by white light. Not harsh, just not as pretty. Right now I am playing Herb Alpert's Rise as I played it last night. Same thing.
Also the Bass is how transistors are supposed to work. More solid and all that. Strangely not as deep?? The speakers may like the tuber. The funky textures are missed. Oh and some details are back. In pawnshop the crowd was more distinct and yes ice in the glasses.
The HK is not as good as the Franken amp I think. I may have to play Cowboy Junkies. Tiny details have not revealed themselves yet.
But you know the little beast was designed in 1960 something. It is dual mono. One power cord, but inside there are two completely separate amplifiers. They were reaching even back then. Okay Mr Alpert is playing a flugelhorn now. I dint notice that before.
Hey 1960s were not that bad. This is a fair fight.
Junkies. Track one. The stupid noise is there. Track two the Bass is more recessed. The vocal is clear. Oh very clear. Margo does not sound so lispy. Mr Harman has nothing to apologize for.
Yes it is different. I can see exactly why people yearn for the golden sound of the tubes. It aint right or better, just prettier. Photographers like to shoot in the golden hours. Just after sunrise, and just before sunset. The light has less blue and makes skin look richer. All those swimsuit shoots do that. It aint as honest as midday light.
OK Acid Test. Side 4 Cowboy Junkies LP. Sweet Jane. Bass bang on. I think my brain is adjusting to the sound a bit. Clean clear. The guitar is far left clear, clean. Shit the high hats dead centre perfect metallic.
Postcard blues. DEEP bass from the foot tap. Not as organic as the ARC. Margo is right there! I can hear her lips part. Oh yes the harmonica, damn. This is an amazing album. GET IT Droogs! Margo just took a breath like a real human. This is good.
I will put the ARC back in for a couple days once I fix it. Then the Franken-Amp gets his turn.

Home renovations have changed me. I discovered there's a lot I cannot do, and also a lot I can do. I have become interested in bigger DIY and I'm soon to receive a jigsaw masterclass and all (I have nice colleagues). But as it stands right now, I have barely no furniture that is not borrowed - the main exception being our bed, and a new couch. We're waiting to have days off to figure out the rest. Our couch being the central part of our living, I was excited when I found an accesory that was not table-dependent, something I could incorporate in our current lives and room situation. Enter CouchConsole, a multi-functional gadget that now lives in the middle seat of my couch. It is a self-balancing cupholder, snack holder, phone stand, charging dock, remote tray, storage pocket, arm rest, all in a light, compact & modular pack. I'm going to quote a review that kinda sold me: "Think of it as a car’s armrest with cupholders, but for your couch or bed!".
Let's get technical: how does this small (28x28cm) cube do all of that? First of all, let me highlight its modular nature: the structure features two sections in which the accesory modules can be inserted. For the cup holder, it features a gyroscope that works great with standard glasses and also does well with thinner/taller glasses and cans. It can be locked in place with the mug adapter (which is a nifty accesory on itself). The snack compartment is the same size, so these two can go together in one of the sections. In order to make them snug, you need to put the spacer between them. This accesory doubles up as a snack cover or as a way to create custom compartimentation, if needed, so it isn't just a random extra piede going around. Also, the inside of the structure is done in light but insulating material, so you can keep your drink and snacks hot or cold for longer.
There's a bigger accesory that's also multi-funtional: in one side, it features a cushioned surface that serves as armrest, while on its other side it features a flat surface and a slit that works as a phone holder. The best thing about this module in particular is that it leaves plenty of space under it that works as storage space. One of the sections features a USB-C cable, so if you need charging your phone, you can simply pop an external battery inside and plug your phone into the CouchConsole.
It is sturdy, but light in its constructions, so it is easy to move around. While the CouchConsole comes with one accesory of each, being it modular, you could have a tray with four self-balancing drink holders, a big snack plate, two armrests to work in the middle of a couch… or any possibility that would fit your needs. The design is sleek and functional, there are no sharp edges, and it simply looks good. There are a few colour options, but most of the designs are done in black. Finally, I want to highlight that it's eco-friendly, as the foam is recycled.
CouchConsole is a clever accesory that fuses function and design. While in my case it has filled a particular, precise need, it is a nifty gadget that works great as a gift (and a conversation piece). Its modular nature allows it to be customized to taste, and it's small enough that it can be stored away when not in need. Overall, I think it's a fun and practical addition to a home, so be sure to check it out.
