roommate!James x shy!reader ♡ 1.4k words
Lightning strikes outside the window just before your laughter reaches James. He perks up, an electric current skittering down into his fingertips. He’s glad no one’s around to witness the way he swivels around on the couch to look out the window, searching for the source of the sound.
Your key is in the lock a moment later. “Are you sure you don’t want me to run up and grab my umbrella?” you ask someone outside as you walk in.
“No, thanks,” a male voice, sounding just as jovial as you do, responds. Without thinking, James stands up. “What’d be the point? I’m already soaked through.”
“Seems like it’s really coming down out there,” James says, stepping into the doorway. You look over as though you hadn’t realized he was there. You’re sopping wet, hair dripping onto the floor and work clothes clinging to your body in ways James takes care not to notice. The man outside is similarly drenched, looking cold but remarkably happy as he takes shelter under the small awning outside your door. “You alright, mate?”
“Good,” he replies, looking at James like he’s not sure if this is someone he’s supposed to be able to place. “And yourself?”
“This is James,” you say, “my roommate. And this is Art, we work together.”
“Pleased to meet you.” Art sticks out a hand, shaking James’ firmly before retracting back out onto your doorstep. “I’d better get home,” he says to you. “See you Friday?”
“Yeah.” You nod briskly, giving him a small smile as he turns around and goes. James shuts the door after him with a definitive thud.
“Christ, love, aren’t you cold?” He fights the urge to set his hands on your arms and rub warmth into them. His friends are so touchy, it’s a bit difficult to adjust for someone who isn’t.
“Yeah,” you admit with another little smile (James likes this one better, though he’s unsure why). Now that you’re standing still, you’re beginning to shiver. “Could you maybe grab me a towel from upstairs? Sorry to ask, I just don’t want to track water in.”
James is already moving. “Don’t be sorry,” he chides as he climbs the stairs.
As he looks for where you keep your towels, he can’t stop thinking about the thrilled way you and Art had looked at each other. Your ringing laughter outside the door. He’s happy you feel comfortable enough at your job to laugh and have fun with your coworkers, but he’s a bit hurt that you don’t seem to feel the same sort of ease around him. James has managed to coax a few smiles from you since he moved in, and a decent amount of laughter, too, but more often than not it comes with some resistance. He’ll catch you trying to conceal a grin, cutting your laugh off before it’s really begun. Then you’ll look at him like you’re embarrassed for being caught in a joyous moment. As if they’re something to be bashful about, and not something that lightens James’ heart until it threatens to float off and take him with it.
He ends up grabbing both the towel and that giant sweatshirt you like, tossing the latter in the dryer on his way back to you.
“Thanks.” You reach for the towel, but James wraps it around your shoulders himself.
“Don’t mention it.” He breaks, giving the tops of your arms a couple of good rubs before stepping back and letting you take over. “Do you want something warm to drink?”
Your eyes light up, but then you purse your lips. “I’m fine, thanks.”
James gives you a look.
You must really be in a good mood, because you crack easily. “Fine, a hot cocoa would be night-making,” you admit, grinning at him again. He wouldn’t be surprised if his chest was actually, visibly glowing. “Thanks, James.”
“So,” he asks, hating himself just a little bit, “why did Art walk you back if neither of you had an umbrella?” He flicks on the kettle.
“He lives nearby,” you reply. “We actually walk home together fairly often, whenever we’re both working at night.”
James feels a stab of guilt. Of course, it makes perfect sense that you’d need someone to walk with you when you’re leaving work after dark. He feels stupid and inconsiderate for not thinking of it.
“That’s nice of him,” he concedes. “I’m sorry I didn’t think of walking you home before. I could always come and get you.”
A pause. “Thanks, but you really don’t have to. And please don’t be sorry, it’s not your issue to think about.”
It feels like his issue. He wants to think about it. “Still. I wouldn’t mind.”
“Yeah, but for Art it’s on his way home. You’d have to go both ways.”
James doesn’t care. For reasons he doesn’t understand and refuses to reflect upon, he wants to be the one who makes sure you get home safely. That’s got to be a typical roommate responsibility, right?
“You forget, I have a car,” he says, pouring the hot water into two mugs. He stirs in the cocoa mix. “I could drive both you and Art, if you’d like. Could have saved you a lot of trouble on a night like tonight.”
“I actually really love the rain.” Your voice sounds clearer, and James turns around to find that evidently you’ve dubbed yourself dry enough to walk around. You’ve squeezed most of the moisture out of your hair, but your lashes are still clumped damply. Your face shines. “We ran because we were worried about our phones, but it was fun.”
“Well, glad your impending hypothermia was worth it.” He starts to push your mug towards you, then pauses. “Oh, wait just a second.”
He quickly goes back to the dryer, getting out your warmed sweatshirt and bringing it to you. Your face when you see it makes James wish he had a camera, your eyebrows hooking upward and lips actually parting like he’s brought you a kitten rather than a sweatshirt. You’re truly in rare form tonight.
“Oh my god, thank you.” You start to position the hole over your head, then hesitate. “Actually, would you—” Your bottom lip goes briefly between your teeth, a flash of that shy girl he’s been seeing less and less of lately. You wrap your hands in the fabric of your sweatshirt. “I should probably take my wet clothes off. Would you mind turning around for a minute?”
“Oh—yeah, of course.” James does. He covers his eyes for good measure, smiling to himself when he hears your amused little huff from behind him. Then there’s the wet sound of some item of clothing hitting the floor, and his smile fades. He can hear your skin shushing against fabric, your quiet breaths, the tiny sound you make when your clothes stick obstinately to your skin just for a moment before you peel them off. James feels somewhat warmer than he did a minute ago.
“Okay, you’re good.”
He turns around, and you’ve already got your hot cocoa in hand. Your sweatshirt hits at mid-thigh, sleeves covering the better parts of your hands that aren’t wrapped covetously around your mug. It takes a great deal of willpower not to look at the clothes piled on the floor and see if your underwear are among them.
“This is really good,” you say, somewhat awkwardly. You’re looking at James bemusedly, used to him being the one who talks.
He jumps back into his role. “I don’t know why you sound surprised. It always is, when I make it.”
James leads the both of you into the living room, plopping down on the couch. You, of course, have the option of going upstairs to your room, but he knows you’ll follow. You sit down carefully, tucking your knees under the hem of your sweatshirt and resting your mug atop them.
“So,” he says, reaching forward and unsticking a piece of hair from your eyebrow. You fluster but let him, and he smooths it behind your ear, “are you the type of person who likes to stay in and watch films when it’s storming, or do you only enjoy running about in them?”
You hum into your hot cocoa. “I like a film.”
“Perfect, then it’s your pick this time.” You start to protest, but James holds firm. “No, you’ve bullied me into picking the last three. It’s time to start pulling your weight around here.”
It takes you a bit longer to relent, but finally he gets you to admit to a preferred film. As the intro credits are playing, thunder cracks outside, and an excited little shiver has you bringing up your shoulders. A smile, seemingly unconscious, ghosts over your lips. James grins in response. Cute.

a little too much fun — RAFE CAMERON
authors note hiii lovies!! hope you like this short fic. sorry for being so m.i.a for bit, school has been very busy for me and wanting to get all that out of the way first.

summary going out with your girlfriends on a friday night, having too much to drink, and rafe coming to the rescue to take you home safely.
warning(s) reunion with friends, drinking, cursing, jealousy girls.
Tonight, you are going out with three of your girlfriends to the local bar to have a few drinks and chat it up. Since you girls work during the week, it was best to finally meet up together.
The dimly lit bar casts a warm, inviting glow over the hustling crowd. The air was filled with laughter, clinking drinks, and the thundering bass of music. It was a perfect night to be out.
Friday nights are the busiest nights at this bar— tonight happened to be the busiest. People were all around and luckily this was a decent sized bar. Security stood outside in case of an emergency too.
You hadn't let loose in a long time, and the drink had flowed freely, leaving you all with a happy, carefree buzz. They knew you well enough to know when you had reached your limit.
Ava, Bella, Emily, and you sat in a booth with food and drinks around the table throughout the night while you caught up before moving to the floor where more people were.
"It's so glad to be back with my girls" Emily announced, smiling with so much joy, "I can't remember the last time we all hung out" she went on.
"I know right, I missed us being together and getting drunk" Bella responded.
Remainder of the time in the booth, you girls had multiple conversations about multiple things that made time even more special. Whenever you get the chance to meet up, there will be conversations about almost anything.
"Another round?" Ava inquired, raising her glass, her cheeks flushed from the alcohol.
"Sure!" you said, raising your glass in toast. Bella and Emily joined in, and all four of you broke out laughing.
The four of you headed to the dance floor as the night wore on. Everyone began to sing along with the music blasting from the loud speakers and dance to the beat. Color-changing lights gave the bar a pleasant atmosphere.
Drink in hand, you relaxed your body and threw your head to one side while singing out the song's lyrics. At that moment, you felt great.
The girls knew you haven't gone out in awhile and this much to drink in awhile. You told them your password in case Rafe, your boyfriend, needed to pick you up. They watched you throughout the night— four of you looked out for each other regardless.
"I'm having so much fun right now, I missed you girls so much," your sentences slurred, and you felt off balance. Ava caught you right before you collapsed to the side.
Ava whispered "Call or text Rafe" to the girls, pointing to your purse in your grasp— Emily nodded, reaching in your purse for your phone, then texting Rafe to pick you up. He answered quickly, saying he was on his way.
"I'll have my sister pick us up too," Bella said, grabbing her phone from her handbag and messaging her sister.
Rafe showed up shortly after, his towering presence effortlessly slicing through the crowd. He saw you almost instantly, lost in your own world as you swayed to the music, a tiny smile pulling at his lips. With gratitude for his attendance, your friends gave him a warm welcome.
Not knowing your boyfriend is behind you, you swap his hands away from your waist, turning around about to go off on who you thought wasn’t Rafe. That scowl became a happy smile when you realized it was Rafe the whole time.
“Aw baby, what are you doing here?” You ask excitedly but confused at the same time.
"To take you home because you've had to much to drink" Rafe explains carefully, pulling the strand of your hair behind your ear.
"But I'm not ready to go home" you pout.
Rafe understands that you don't want to go home and would rather hang out with your girlfriends, but he doesn't want anything to happen to you or your friends on such a busy night. Behind your drunken glance, you realize he is looking out for you. It shows that he cares.
"Baby, I understand you do not want to leave right now. The girls are about to be picked up by Bella's sister. Plus, there's always the remainder of the weekend and next weekend," he says loudly enough to be heard above the speaker's loud music.
You turn your head over your shoulder and look at your friends with sadness. You swivel your body around and extend your arms for a group hug. You felt your body relax.
"Thank you for calling Rafe," you say, holding them tightly. "Please text the group chat when you arrive home safely."
"Of course, we love you," Emily replies.
Reluctantly, you let Rafe guide you towards the exit, your steps unsteady. Just as you reached the door, you noticed a group of girls at a nearby table. They were staring at Rafe, their eyes wide with admiration. In your drunken state, jealousy flared up, and you couldn’t help but flip them off.
One of the girls, a blonde with too much attitude for her own good, called out, "Who does she think she is?"
You stopped dead in your tracks, your drunken bravado kicking in. "I'm his girlfriend, bitch," you slurred, glaring at her. "And he’s taking me home. So, enjoy the view while you can."
The girl’s mouth snapped shut, her face turning red with embarrassment as her friends snickered. Satisfied, you turned back to Rafe, who was trying to hide a smirk.
"Let's go, tiger," you said, leaning heavily on him.

both sinners (part two)
pairing drugdealer! rafe cameron x female reader
rating explicit 18+
content warning drug use
summary as a stripper, you’re well aware that someone you know could walk into the club at any moment. when rafe is your newest customer, you’re actually glad to see a familiar face.
{ masterlist }
*+:★:+*━━━*+:★:+*━━━*+:★:+*
When Rafe wakes up in his bed, bits and pieces of last night drift into his mind.
He remembers watching you on stage. And touching you while you danced on his lap. And going upstairs with you.
And at the end of it all, asking for your number. But he can’t place if you actually gave it to him.
When he finds your contact info in your phone, he’s relieved. He wants to replay last night. It felt like a dream. He texts you: when are u working next?
You eventually reply: lol you asked me this like ten times last night
Rafe: and whats the answer
You: friday
His lips twist in frustration. He can’t wait that long.
Rafe: are u coming to my party tonight
You: wasn’t planning on it
Rafe: well plan on it
You look down at your phone in amusement. You’d overheard the girls at work talking about this in the dressing room before. Some customers do this - they get infatuated by a stripper, by the fantasy of you being their plaything.
Unless the customer is a creep, going along with it is basically a guarantee of a steady flow of cash from them. The thing is, you don’t really have to play it up. You genuinely had fun with Rafe.
You tease him in your reply, texting: hmm fine i guess.
You’d been at Rafe’s house for parties a few times before, but every time, the vastness and luxury of his home nearly jolts you.
The place is swarming with partygoers, music loud and conversations louder. You’re with your group of close friends, some fellow dancers and some not, as you make your way through the crowded foyer.
When you spot Rafe sitting on a couch, counting and fanning out $20 dollar bills of what you’re sure is his drug money, you let your friends know you’ll find your way back to them.
When you approach him, you put a gentle hand on his shoulder. He looks up, a smile spreading on his face as soon as he realizes it’s you.
“Do I owe you for the bump last night?” you ask him. He stops to think about it.
“Yeah, actually, you do.”
“No problem. I made a lot of cash last night,” you tease. Nearly half a thousand dollars solely from him, to be exact.
He takes your wrist and pulls you down onto his lap. You giggle, placing an arm around his shoulders as he encircles you in his arms, the cash now a bundle in his fist.
He’s so damn possessive. And grabby.
“You’re not paying me back that way,” he murmurs to you. You smirk, looking down at his mouth.
Rafe is already getting hard. The feeling of you on his lap, your ass pressed against his thigh, your short dress, that smile… Fuck.
“Didn’t see that coming,” you say sarcastically.
He cradles your jaw to kiss you. He loves the feeling of claiming you in public like this. There’s something so fucking hot about being the one you’re choosing to be with when so many other men thirst over you.
“What the fuck took you so long to get here?” he rasps.
“Did we make an appointment?” you flirt. He grips your thigh hard, biting his bottom lip.
“Get up,” he says, shuffling beneath you. Excitement tingles through you as he stands and takes your hand to lead you through the groups of rowdy people.
On the way upstairs, a guy stops Rafe asking to buy a gram, but he only pats his shoulder and tells him he’ll find him later. You’re his priority right now.
His bedroom is massive, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the beach. You can only hear the waves and faint music and your own heartbeat as Rafe shuts the door, making sure to turn the light on.
He’s going to see all of you this time, with no dim club lighting shadowing any part of your body.
He immediately pushes up against you, his groin at your ass.
“Take it off,” he mutters. You’re used to undressing for men, but doing it for Rafe is ecstasy. You can’t wait to feel him inside of you.
You hike up your dress and pull it off to feel his hands on your bare skin immediately. He’s rough as he squeezes your tits and trails a hand down between your legs, pressing his fingers up against you.
“No stupid fucking rules here,” Rafe says.
“Not like you’d follow them.”
He smiles. You’re right. He’s been looking forward to fucking you how he wants you to. The handjob last night was mind-blowing, but he wants you entirely, to absolutely ravage you.
Arousal twists inside you as he rubs the tips of his fingers up and down over your panties.
“Bend over,” he orders. You obey, feeling his hand on the back of your neck, forcing you down. You put your hands on the plush rug.
Your legs are spread and your ass is in the air as he pulls your underwear down to your knees. His hands run over your bare cheeks, then spread you open.
Rafe exhales sharply. You’re fucking perfect. He lowers onto his knees and when you feel his tongue against your cunt, you tremor, almost losing strength in your legs.
“Don’t move,” he says against you. With your hands and feet on the floor, he starts to languidly lap at you. His tongue dips and glides, his breath hot against you with his fingers still digging into your flesh.
You’re dizzy. From the pleasure. From the way your body is bent over. From the ache you feel for him.
One of his hands slides off your ass, and within moments, you feel two of his fingers push into you.
“Shit,” he groans in a whisper. He starts to scissor his fingers, earning moans from you. “You’re so fucking tight. I don’t know if I’ll fit.”
From the way his cock felt in your hands last night, you’re not so sure, either.
“We’ll make you fit,” you say through shallow breaths. Rafe grins to himself. That was the best thing you could’ve said.
You feel him withdraw his fingers. The sound of him unzipping his pants makes you arch your back in anticipation. Big hands push your hips down to guide you onto your knees.
You bite your bottom lip, drunk on the feeling of his fascination with you. He’s going to take you right here on the floor; he couldn’t even wait another few extra seconds to get you on his bed.
Rafe strokes himself, hungrily looking down at your slick core. He pulls out the condom he was keeping in his back pocket specifically for this, opening the package and rolling it on.
You look back once you hear the crinkling of the wrapper.
“They make those in your size?” you purr, stroking his ego. At this point, you’re professionally trained in making men feel good about themselves, but right now, you’re genuinely complimenting him because you want to.
Rafe breathes a chuckle, his hand running up and down your back. He’s never had a girl flatter him like this. He’s not usually rendered speechless, but you have the power to do it to him.
He lines his tip up against you, his groin stiff, avidity consuming him. When he starts to push into you, he feels you tighten around him. He throws his head back with his mouth agape at the feeling of you squeezing him.
“Tell me to stop if I need to,” he says gruffly, slowly sinking in.
“Okay,” you breathe, his hands cupping your hips. The pressure is unreal as he gets deeper, and you feel your body tense.
“Wait,” you say, head hanging. You breathe in and out slowly, feeling his thumbs rubbing over your skin as he waits for you. After a few breaths, you’re ready.
“Okay,” you say. “Keep going.”
He continues to slowly dig into you and once he reaches in to the hilt, his hips against your ass, you wriggle to get used to him.
“Good?” he huffs.
“Yeah,” you say, rocking back. He smirks at the way you’re pushing against him. He pulls back, then drives back into you, pleasure filling him.
His pace quickens and soon he’s slamming into you, the sounds of your wet skin slapping together and your heavy breathing taking over the room.
Rafe feels nothing but pure euphoria as he fucks you, looking down at his cock disappearing into your perfect cunt. Your ass shakes with every thrust, reminding him of how you danced last night, of how he wants to keep coming to the club to watch the way you own the stage and writhe on that damn pole.
He cums in hard, long pulses, his fingers digging into your hips so hard that it hurts. Once he’s done, he watches the way your dripping cunt slowly wanes after being stretched out by him.
You turn to look at Rafe as he stands and pulls off the condom, his load pooled at the end of it. He is absolutely disheveled. His hair is a mess and sweat sheens his forehead.
“Get on the bed,” he says through heavy breaths.
You go to lie down on his plush sheets while he gets rid of the condom, and when he comes back, he lies on his front and immediately dips his head between your legs.
You arch your back and breathe out a sigh of surprise. He actually wants to make you cum, instead of only chasing his pleasure. You’re glad he’s not as selfish as his ego makes him out to be.
You dig your fingers into his soft hair as he runs his tongue up your middle. When he starts to flick it over your clit, he looks up to make eye contact with you.
The way your lips part and your brows furrow in pleasure is so fucking pretty to him.
You’re on fire as he licks and sucks, his hands resting on your inner thighs to keep your legs spread wide.
“You taste so fucking good,” he rasps.
“Yeah?” you moan, feeling like you’re withering beneath him.
“I’m the only guy you’re seeing, right?” he says, hopeful, already angry at the mere idea of you fucking around with other men.
“Right,” you say. He nods and continues to work his mouth on you, his jaw getting sore, until an orgasm rolls through you.
When Rafe watches the way you tremble and hears the way you whimper, he decides he wants to make you cum whenever he gets a chance to simply so he can watch you do this.
As you come down from your peak, Rafe takes out his wallet and drops a few $100 bills on the bed beside you.
“You don’t have to pay me,” you impulsively say. Damn. It might be stupid to turn down any money he’s willing to give you.
“I want to,” Rafe says to your relief. Maybe you’ll get used to his money, he hopes. It’ll keep you around.
He looks down at your naked body with a satisfied grin. He always thought you were hot when he saw you at parties, but had he known fucking you would be like this, he would have made a move a long time ago.
Or he’d have gone into that strip club much sooner.
He waits for you to get dressed before you head downstairs together. He continues to party and sell coke, not letting you leave his sight.
The following Friday night, you sit in the club dressing room, putting the finishing touches on your makeup before your shift.
When you step out onto the stage, you can’t see the audience clearly, but you know Rafe is watching. He told you he would be.
Rafe sits near the back, sipping a drink, watching you in amazement. You’re in a flimsy, sheer pink dress. It’s hiding absolutely nothing. He can’t believe he gets to fuck you.
This is a new, conflicting sensation. He likes that so many men want you and only he gets the satisfaction of being inside you, but so many eyes on you makes him jealous at the same time, like these strangers even imaging fucking you is too much.
Maybe he can’t take this like he thought he could.
He watches you writhe and grind and twist on the pole, his dick hardening. He’s definitely fucking you after you clock out.
When you saunter off the stage towards a booth of older men, something ugly twists in his stomach.
This was inevitable. This is your job. You’re going to dance on other guys. Of course you are. But nothing he tells himself makes it better.
Rafe can’t look away, even though he should.
You smile at the stranger, your hands on his shoulders as you say something to him. He watches the man dip a bill into your bra strap.
Rafe takes another swig from his glass, the alcohol cold in his mouth.
When he sees the man reach to squeeze your chest and you swat him away, rage consumes him. He stands up quickly, still trying to somehow restrain himself, knowing you probably deal with this shit all the time.
But the man tries to grab you again.
And that’s fucking it.
Rafe rushes to the booth and grabs the motherfucker by the collar, his fist meeting his jaw hard.

Into the Blackhole
Theodore Nott x gn!reader; fluff
summary: when it all just gets too much, there’s one place you can always find theodore nott, a secluded corner on the second floor of the three broomsticks
a/n: hogmarch prompt 2. it’s apparently my goal to be the last submission for all of these, sorry @thatdammchickennugget (it’s technically still the 13th). i went with the butterbeer approach and this pure fluff. lots of friends to lovers in my submissions, whoops. guess the trope is on the brain
Bad week. That’s the only way you could describe your current mood. Between the long ass essay Snape had assigned with only 2 days to complete and the howler you’d received from your parents about something that wasn’t even a big deal you needed a break away from the castle.
So here you were on your way to the Three Broomsticks. The path to Hogsmeade is familiar and the fresh air is already starting to improve your mood. With the sun setting soon, there’s a comforting light casted on the village.
The old wooden doors to the pub creak when you open them and it’s relatively quiet for a Friday evening. You decide to make your way up to your usual table to relax a bit before getting a drink. At the top of the stairs you find Theodore Nott already sitting there. A smile spreads across your face.
He looks like his week was just as bad as yours as you slide into the seat next to him. His blue eyes look up to meet yours when you sit down and his expression is immediately softer. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t make your heart flutter.
“Bad week?” you ask.
Theo sighs and nods, “why else would I be here. Assuming that’s why you’re here too.”
You laugh softly at that, he wasn’t wrong. Since your first trip to Hogsmeade third year, you and Theo had decided this was the best spot in the village to get away from everything. You’d spent many a night here with and without him, and you couldn’t help but feel glad he was with you this time.
“Want something? I was about to go get a drink when you came up,” he stands from the table, eyes still on you.
“Sure, that’d be great.”
He gives you a nod before heading down the stairs, leaving the seat empty and a hole in your heart.
So, maybe you had a small crush on your friend. Maybe.
♡ ♡ ♡
His footsteps returning pull you out of your thoughts. He sets a cold butterbeer down in from of you and you give him an appreciative smile.
“I know you don’t like warm drinks, as weird as that is,” he teases as he sits back down with his hot butterbeer in hand.
“I’m not arguing about this with you again, Nott,” you tease right back.
He holds his hands up in surrender, which makes you both laugh.
There’s a comfortable silence as you sip on your butterbeer and you steal a few glances at him.
“Wanna talk about it?” his voice surprises you, making you snap your attention to him.
“Just a rough week,” you blink a couple times, trying to think of what to say.
“Yeah, my fathers been, persistent in the whole… mark thing.” He looks down at his mug.
“Oh, Theo, I-“ without thinking about it, you get up and hug him.
He tenses up for a moment at the unexpected touch, but easily melts into your embrace. You don’t ask anything else, you don’t need to. He turns in his seat to make it easier to hug him, his strong arms coming up around your waist.
“Thank you tesorino. I guess I wanted to talk about it, but my friends…” he trails off and you immediately understand. They’ve gone through similar if not worse, it can be too much.
“I’m always here for you Teddy,” the nickname slips past your lips like it’s the most natural thing in the world and you try not to blush at the Italian term of endearment.
“I know you are and-“ he hesitates, “I think that’s why I’m falling in love with you.” The second half comes out quieter, like he’s scared of your response. “Actually, I’ve liked you for a long time.”
His blue eyes meet yours and it feels like it’s just the two of you here in the Three Broomsticks.
Just the two of you in all the universe.
He blushes, “sorry, not great timing on my part.”
“No!” you blurt out, “I’ve had a crush on you forever. Since we met first year.”
Theo looks a little shocked, but it’s quickly replaced with a smile and you melt.
“Wanna maybe turn this pity party into uh- a date maybe?”
You laugh softly, which makes him join you.
“Sure, I’d love nothing more.” You sit back down in your seat, in your and Theodore’s table and you can’t stop the grin that spreads across your face.
“But first, another butterbeer?” he smiles and you happily nod.

rodrick x hyperfeminine reader hcs 2
wc: 1.7k
genre: mutual pining, minor angst
pairing: rodrick x hyperfeminine!reader
warnings: houseparty, madison and heather aren't very good friends, one brief mention of alcohol/underage drinking but no one is obviously drunk, Brent keeps flirting with you and can't take a hint but it's annoying and inconvenient at most, minor miscommunication, sad roddy at the end
summary: after getting all dolled up for your party (which is really just an excuse to see rodrick and his band play) you spend the whole night not getting to do the one thing you want to do - see Rodrick.
song rec: teenage dirtbag - wheatus, and I imagine them playing put your money on me - the struts, basket case - green day, and of course, diper overlode - loded diper at the party
a/n: the long awaited part 2 is here!! and yes there will be a part 3 that takes place at prom lol
tags at the bottom (tagging all the people who asked for part 2 as well lol)
You’ve spent all week planning your party
Now it’s finally friday after school, and Heather and Madison are at your place, taking on the monumental task of deciding what you’re going to wear
You decide on the new pair of heels you got as your inspiration piece
They’re baby pink and strappy, with a butterfly shape made of little diamonds on the front
You’ve been absolutely obsessed with them, and the party seems like the perfect opportunity to break them in
You dig around in your closet, pulling a few of your other pink dresses
It’s not much of a contest when you see them laid out, and you choose the light pink satin one to go with your shoes
You listen to Heather and Madison gossip while you dig through your jewelry and nail polish, finding some coordinating accessories and your next mani pedi color
“Which earrings?” You ask them, holding up two pairs.
“That one.” They say in unison, pointing to the one on your left
You were leaning toward that pair anyway, so you’re glad they agree
After finalizing some details and going over what they’re going to wear, all your party outfits are planned
Heather and Madison leave to get dressed, promising to be back within the hour so you can all help each other with hair and makeup
You’ve practically become their personal beauty guru since you became friends
You always know just what to do to make their makeup look flawless and their hair cooperate when it’s being stubborn
You’re a big ball of nerves while you get the last details set up
Snacks are laid out, drinks are set up
Now all you need is the people
And more importantly
The band
As people show up, Heather drags you around to socialize
You swear, she must make you say hi to every single person there
If you were a little more cynical, you might pick up on the fact that Heather is trying to keep you away from Rodrick
Rodrick, who you’ve been thinking about non stop since you first saw him
You spend the whole time looking around for him and his band
You think you see him across the room once, but it’s a girl with a dark brown pixie cut
It’s hard to tell in this lighting, and you’re glad you caught it before you made a really awkward mistake
You’re sure it would have been a funny anecdote that lead to you being friends after
On your way back, you get stopped by Brad
He insists on pulling you aside to talk, which Heather and Madison encourage
But right now all you want is to find Rodrick
And all Rodrick wants is to find you
They’re almost warmed up and ready for their set
And GOD he’s never been more excited for a gig
He’s so ready to go all out
To impress you
And to avoid all Justin Bieber songs to prevent another Heather’s sweet 16 incident
He fidgets with his drumsticks and looks around again
He still doesn’t see you
Which sucks, because he’s been thinking about this exact moment non stop since loded diper got this dream of a gig
He’s been making the boys practice way more than normal
Much to his parent’s dismay (even though they’re starting to sound pretty good)
To avoid another Heather Hills sweet 16 situation
But more importantly, to impress you
When Rodrick fell asleep every night this week, he had a variation of the same dream
Playing at this party, rocking the house so hard people talk about it for years afterwards, and getting to see you
You’re so beautiful, standing dead center at the front of the crowd, looking up at him the whole time
They barely finish their set when you weave your way through the band, and walk right up to him
His heart is pounding as you start praising him, telling him how good he was, how you want to be his little rockstar’s girlfriend
He usually gets so excited he wakes himself up after that
And now
It’s finally happening
His literal dreams are coming true
His band got a great gig
And he gets to play for you
This is probably the biggest opportunity since battle of the bands
The guys know how much he’s been looking forward to this
It’s all he’s been talking about
He really thinks that if everything goes perfect, he might be able to shoot his shot with you
He just has to focus
Focus on playing a perfect gig, focus on figuring out how to woo you
Once they’re all warmed up and hyped up, they start their set
You can hear the band starting to tune up from the other room, and try for what feels like the millionth time to slip away from Brent
You’ve had to turn him down more times than you can count, and he still can’t take a goddamn hint
“I really have to go check on my friends…” you trail off, finally slipping into the crowd
You manage to find Madison, who signals to Heather, and soon all three of you are hiding in the bathroom
You catch your breath for a little while, touching up your makeup while Heather checks herself out and fluffs her hair
Madison sits nearby, texting someone
After a little while, you sigh, figuring you should all get back
Heather and Madison share a look while you straighten out your necklace
Heather walks to the door with Madison right behind her
She pokes her head out of the door, then closes it quickly
“Brent is right down the hall,” she says, turning back to you as Madison nods, “we should wait in here a little longer
It feels like you wait in the bathroom forever while Heather occasionally sending Madison out to check
After a little while you hear faint music
Your stomach drops
You can’t miss the band, the whole point of throwing this party was getting to see Rodrick and loded diper play
“Did they start already?” you ask, walking toward the door
Heather grabs your arm before you can open it, telling you Brent is still right outside, and sends Madison to go check if the band started yet
Madison comes back a minute later
“They’re still warming up,” she says, sharing a look with Heather
A little while later, the music gets louder and you don’t want to risk missing their show
You leave the bathroom before Heather and Madison can stop you
You’re met with loud rock music reverberating through the house
Definitely not just warming up
You try to get to the other room where they’re playing so you don’t miss the rest of their set
Before you get very far, Brent catches your eye and cuts through the crowd
He follows you around and keeps trying to pull you aside to flirt and talk and get you to go out with him
You manage to get to the doorway of the room they’re playing when he pins you against the wall
He’s going on and on about how you’d be perfect together, you’d be lucky to get with him, everyone at school wants him
But all you can think about is how great the band sounds
They’re like a perfect blend of all the best pop punk and rock groups you’ve ever heard
Right off the bat, you pick out influences from green day, my chemical romance, and metallica
You’re really fucking impressed
You didn’t expect them to be this good, and you didn’t have low expectations to begin with
You just wish you could get away from Brent to really get to see the rest of their set before it’s over
When the song ends, you hear Rodricks voice and stretch up to try and see him as he leans into the mic
“Thank you, we are Loded Diper! Fuck authority!” he looks over at Chris, then leans back into the mic “And the patriarchy!”
Your stomach sinks as you realize you missed most of their show, but you still cheer louder than anyone else in the room
Rodrick lets out a little puff of air when Chris taps his shoulder, getting his attention
“Uh, listen man…” Chris starts, but Rodrick doesn’t hear what he says after that
He looks over to where Chris is gesturing, and his heart sinks
Brent has you pinned against the wall across the room, and you two are looking awfully cozy together
“Shit…” Rodrick says
Once again, he looks like an idiot for thinking he has a chance with you
“C’mon, let’s get out of here,” Ben says, signaling to Ward to help them bring their stuff back out to the van
They wrap it up and leave quickly, and Ward, Ben, and Chris try to figure out how to help their heartbroken drummer
You spend the rest of the party looking for Rodrick
You hope he stuck around, you really want to tell him how great he was
When the alcohol runs out and the party’s over, Madison and Heather sleep over, helping you clean up
Technically Heather makes Madison help you clean up
All they can talk about is prom coming up, but your mind is still on Rodrick
And how you didn’t get to see him
You wish you could have told him how amazing he was
Even if he’s not into you like you’re really, really into him
You just want him to know that you could listen to his music all day and never get tired of it
“...coordinating dates, and-” Heather says, turning to you suddenly, “you’re going to help us pick out dresses, right?”
You nod, flashing her a smile and hoping to disguise your disappointment at how the night went
“Yeah,” you answer as she goes on about finding you all dates
But you know that if you can’t go to prom with Rodrick, you won’t want to go at all
You just hope by some miracle you’ll get to dance with him, at least once

alone with you Wally Darling x Reader
Warnings: aauugbsn sad wally? fluff!!
although it is not necessary, I highly suggest reading my fics in their recommended order for the best experience! here is the link to all my silly lil wally fics in order. this is #3 :)
You and Wally sneak away for a breath of fresh air, providing the perfect opportunity to try to get your feelings off your chest.
“Would you like to step outside with me, neighbour?”
It was a Friday night, meaning the residents of the neighbourhood were gathered at Julie’s home for one of your weekly little jamborees.
Perplexed by Wally’s unusual desire to leave a social setting, you eyed him worriedly.
“...Are you feeling ill?” You fret, facing him to provide your full attention, going as far as gently pressing the back of your hand against his forehead.
“No, ha ha,” he giggled at your concern, “I’d just like to get away for a few moments,” he reassured, taking your hand into his. “Are you alright with that?” he squeezed it, wanting to ensure you wished to come along.
“I don’t mind at all,” you took him up on his offer, glancing down at your hands. A normal occurrence within your… friendship, but it still gives you hopeful butterflies.
“Actually, I was beginning to grow a tad overwhelmed, so I’m quite glad you offered,” you smiled. He returned it with a nod of understanding.
“Good timing, I suppose. Off we go, then,” he hummed, gently pulling you along to the front door, the two of you slipping away unnoticed.
The temperature outside was a little cool for the summer, but it was tolerable. The sky was clear and bright with stars, crickets playing their sounds while muffled chatter came from Julie’s house.
You walked at a slow, lazy pace next to Wally, sucking in a deep breath of the fresh air.
“So,” you began, your voice soft, “is there really no reason you wanted to get away?” You questioned, looking over at Wally. “You’re not usually one to leave to need a break from people,” you chuckled.
“Everything is okay, right?”
Wally hummed softly, gently swinging your hands. You had forgotten they were still interlocked.
“I am. Especially with you around, neighbour,” he reassured, giving you another gentle squeeze. “I just wanted to spend more one-on-one time with you,” he added, smiling.
“Things were getting pretty hectic in there, and you did seem like you maybe needed a break… I assumed it would benefit us both to come out here,”
“Thanks, then,” you murmured, peering down at your feet to try to hide your embarrassment, “I appreciate you looking out for me,” you said. “Do you want to do anything specific, or are you just in a walking mood?”
“Well,” he slowed his pace until he stopped, you doing the same. Your hands wouldn’t have allowed you to go much further, anyways.
“Why don’t we watch the stars?” He suggested.
You stared at him incredulously.
“... Right here?” You giggled. You looked down at the road under your feet, eyes then returning to his.
“Why not?” He grinned. He released his hold on you, plopping right down on the ground and laying back.
“Join me?”
You stood there for a moment, staring down at him as he patted the space next to his body. What had gotten into him tonight? You blew out a soft chuckle, shaking your head. Nonetheless, you sat beside him.
You settled down on the ground, your stomach facing up. Your hands served as a pillow under your head, cushioning it from the pavement.
Your lungs filled with the fresh, damp summer air, as you let your eyelids fall shut. Bugs continued to sing their chorus into the night, the muffled sound of distant laughter coming from the bustling house the two of you had just escaped.
“It’s nice, isn’t it?” Wally’s gentle murmur arose from beside you.
You reopened your eyes, staring into the endless pool of twinkling stars above you. The crescent moon gleamed its ethereal light, illuminating enough for you to see Wally's soft, curled smile as you turned your head towards him.
"... It is," you mumbled back, studying him. "Sorry to be so straightforward," you apologize in advance, "but you look very pretty in this lighting." Or maybe he was very pretty all the time, but you didn’t quite have the confidence to be that straightforward yet.
He seemed to be taken aback by the sudden compliment though, his pupils dilating as his mouth opened as if to try to say something. It shut, a moment passing, before he tried again.
"... you really are the most," he uttered, his elbow against the ground, hand propping his head up. "I could say the same to you, though, neighbour."
"You're a darling, Darling," you chuckled, cheeks flushing as you managed to tear your eyes away from his intense gaze.
Silence settled between the two of you. There was never a need for constant chatter with him. His presence was enough, as was yours for him. Despite this comfortability you felt around Wally, shy butterflies danced around in your belly as your thoughts drifted.
You were alone with the person you had feelings for, afterall.
As you continued to look above into the beyond, a realization crossed your mind.
"You know, Wally..."
"Hmm?"
"Your eyes remind me of the night sky," you told him, your gaze meeting his. You turned onto your side, propping your head the same way he had his, staring into his dark orbs.
"Such a deep blue... light reflects so beautifully off them, looks just like the stars," you mumbled, hand propping against the ground instead, pushing yourself higher to look down at him. The light hit his eyes better, at this angle.
"They're entrancing,"
"As are you, neighbour," he watched you attentively, trying to read you. "I feel bad for reusing your compliments, but ain’t it ever the truth," he sighed softly, a look of adoration on his features. Your cheeks warmed.
“You’re absolutely mesmerizing, you pull me in with no effort at all. I’m so incredibly drawn to your beauty, and always wish to have you around,” he continued. Has anyone else spoken such kind words to you?
“In all honesty, the reason why I brought you out here is because sometimes, I just want to be alone with you,” he confessed.
Your cheeks bloomed with heat, eyes widened in surprise. Despite your wishes that he meant it on a deeper level than just friends, that wasn't the case, was it?
He was just being nice.
He was always nice to everyone.
You were looking too deep into it again…
“Neighbour?” He mumbled gently, the feeling of his hand on your cheek pulling you from your trance.
“Oh.”
You hadn’t realized how close you two had become…
You stared at him, and he stared at you.
You weren't sure how long you both stayed quiet, but before you knew it, you were trying to speak at the same time.
“... listen–”
“Can I–”
“Hey!”
You jolted in surprise with a sharp inhale, Wally's face contorting into one of shock. His hand retracted from your cheek, attention moving to the disturbance. Your torso twisted to see Julie strutting down the way toward you, Frank trying to catch up behind her.
“There you two are!” She beamed. “Come on, we were just about to– what’s wrong with him?”
Your brows furrowed in confusion. Looking next to you, you were met with the sight of Wally laid flat on his back, blankly staring into the sky as if his soul had been sucked out of him.
“You did go on and scare the crud out of them, Julie, so cut him some slack,” Frank scolded, “Can’t anyone take a hint in this town, though?” He complained. Your brows twitched.
“I mean, you couldn't despite all of Eddie’s letters to you?” You deflected with a grin.
“You of all people have no right to– grrr!” Frank stomped his foot in frustration, head spinning. “Never mind that! Julie was quite adamant to come look for you guys for a game we were about to play,” He puffed out a breath, rubbing at his brow.
“Right!” Julie recalled, taking you by the hands and tugging you up. “Upsy-daisy! Let’s not keep the others waiting! You two did that for long enough already,” she teased, pulling you along.
“Why were you guys out here, anyways?” she questioned as you glanced over your shoulder at Frank and Wally.
“Uh,” you mumbled, shaking away your thoughts and looking back ahead. “Just came for a breath of fresh air. Lost track of time, I suppose,” you smiled sheepishly at her.
What had Wally been about to say, though?
What had you been about to let yourself say..?
…
“I was so close…” Wally smiled sadly, sprawled out on the pavement in despair, tears of frustration threatening to escape his eyes.
“I tried to stop her,” Frank released an exasperated sigh, offering his hand to his gloomy friend. “Once she realized you two weren't there, she was persistent on coming to grab you,”
“So close…” Wally repeated, holding his hand up in a pinching gesture for emphasis, barely an inch of space between the tips of his fingers.
“Yeah, yeah. You don’t know how frustrated I am, too. Now, come on,” he rolled his eyes, managing Wally up off the ground and starting towards the house. Though slumped and slow, Wally followed along.
“So close…”

congratulations on your two year anniversary!! Your writing is so amazing and I look forward to more great posts in the future :) if I may, I’d like to request a cosmo w/bakugou! Thank you!!
hihihi thank u!!! i hope u enjoy this, i got a little carried away with it birthday bash intro + rules + menu | event masterlist
“can i get a… um, cosmo?” your eyes are bleary, half-lidded, the menu nearly rubbing the tip of your nose with how close you held it, squinting to read the drink descriptions for five minutes (4 minutes and 47 seconds, he timed you) before giving up on figuring out what was in the cocktail. besides, the vodka was all that mattered.
closing the menu, you attempted twice to return it neatly to the box at the middle of the counter, quickly giving up and sitting it beside the container. bakugou hasn’t moved a muscle since you sat across the bar from him, instead, watching you closely; the way you’d nearly tripped over the chair before sitting in it, and now struggling with the menu. when your eyes finally meet his, yours are damn near crossed, a moment of you staring at him before you focus on his steely red eyes, a single blond eyebrow raised as he studies you.
“you want a cosmo?”
your head looks like it weighs a tonne when you nod, falling back and forth like your neck can’t handle the weight of it, your eyes struggling to refocus on his still frame. he moves too fast for you to watch him, pulling a clean glass from beneath the bar, scooping ice into the bottom, holding the gun over it to fill to the brim with water and adding a lime to the rim.
“how many have you had?” he’s gruff when he slides the drink across the counter to you, watching you hold the glass with both hands and struggle to catch the straw between your lips.
“how many altogether or at this bar?” you take a sip of the ice cold water, making no comment on the lack of alcohol as he leaned on his forearms on the counter, still watching the way you gulped down the water, holding in a smile at the way you giggle avoiding his question.
“where are your friends?” the bar is quiet for a friday night, with only one other person at the bar, busy flirting for free drinks with kirishima. every other patron was either seated in a booth or dancing to usher on the dance floor; he doesn’t remember seeing you walk in, although with the dim lighting, he hadn’t noticed you at all until you were sitting right in front of him.
you gesture generally toward the group crowding at the front of the dj booth, everyone requesting a different song before the first song had even started, too busy to do more than a lazy wave of your hand in their direction. slurping the last few dregs of the cold water at the bottom of your glass, you place the glass back on the counter, smiling widely at him when he refills your cup again (and with a new lime), still oblivious to the lack of alcohol in the drinks.
shuffling closer on the stool, you take a sip of the “new” drink, “you like me or something?”
you’re blunter than you’d normally be with a bartender as gorgeous as he is, somehow seeing two of him makes you more confident. with a soft chuckle, he mirrors you, leaning closer over the bar to you, “what makes you say that?”
his eyes are twinkling when he looks at you, the red flashing blue and green under the strobe lights, suddenly glad for the quiet night if it meant sitting here listening to your drunken rambling. picking up your glass, you speak again, your words still slightly slurred, “two free drinks, and you’re talking to me… a lot.”
bakugou grins and laughs again, standing straight when he reaches behind the counter for his black coat, throwing it over the bend of his elbow, “what’s your name, sweetheart?”
coyly, you answer him, your eyes a touch delayed tracking him walking from behind the bar, toying with the straw between your teeth, squinting again to read the nametag on his chest, “you wanna get out of here, bakugou?”
his eyes go wide before he laughs again, holding his hand out for you to stumble off the chair into his hold, keeping a steady grip on your wrist when he walks towards the exit, “what ever happened to ‘come here often’?”
his smile makes you giggle behind your hand, the giggle morphing into a hiccup by the time you were into the cool air of the night, the lack of humidity making goosebumps erupt under your skin, his thick jacket around your shoulders before you register the temperature difference.
“you work there.” you seem a little more sober now, your eyes staring straight into his, the water and cold air enough to get you aware of how warm his hand is around your wrist, how his hand feels at the small of your back guiding you outside toward the line of taxis in front of the bar.
“fine, what about you?”
“what about me?”
“do you come here often?”
“first time, actually.”
“you should.” he waves down one of the empty taxis, his skin still against yours as it pulls into the gutter in front of you.
“i should..?”
“come here more often, i’ll need that jacket back,” he opens the door for you, helping you down into the low seat despite your now slightly more sober state, “you gonna be alright? i'll let your friends know you got a taxi.”
almost forgetting you’d just invited him home with you, you’re giddy when you smile up at him again, your cheeks warming when he makes one last promise to get your number when you’re sober, next time.
the promise of seeing him again has you smiling the whole way home, even more so when your friends text you all about how the hot bartender said he’d gotten you a lift home, how the tips of his ears were red when the other bartender asked where he’d been, how he answered the bar phone with a smile when you rang it far too late in the night, next time too long to wait to hear from him again.

REBLOG MY WORK! I WORK HARD! ITS APPRECIATED!
Your dorm room was almost silent, almost.
"I just don't get why you hang out with that weirdo." Victoria said, fixing her eye makeup while sitting at the vanity you had in your room. "Because she's my friend, Vic, just like you are."
Victoria huffed, but nodded nonetheless, looking at you in the reflection as you laid staring at your ceiling. Your mouth picking up where it had first left off,
"And she's not weird. A handful? Yes. Weird? She leaves that part to me." Victoria chuckled at your joke, standing up and walking over to your bed, crossing her arms as she glanced down at you.
"Whatever, I'm just glad you didn't fall for that puppy love crush she had on you. What a lame gimmick." You hummed, feeling the bed dip as she sat down, your door opening at almost the exact same time.
"I thought it was cute." You muttered, messing with a ring on your finger that the topic of conversation herself had gifted you. "What's cute?" Nathan's voice interrupted, the door then shutting.
"Nothing." Victoria stared at you for a moment as you spoke, her eyes then turning to Nathan. "Where the fuck have you been?" He scoffed, sitting beside your head. "What are you? My dad?"
He pulled out something from his pocket that you couldn't see, instead you focused on the way he smelled like old cologne and weed. Victoria's nails tickling your calf as she waited for him to light the joint.
"She's just worried, Nate." He grunted inaudible in response, taking a hit of the blunt before passing it to Victoria. "She should be worried about you. I seen you hanging with that punk ass blue haired bitch, again."
He dragged out his last word, glancing down at you while you only rolled your eyes. Looking away and towards your photo wall, which include said punk ass in a selfie you had made her take with you just a few days before.
"You don't know her." He grabbed the joint from Victoria's perfectly manicured fingers, "You'd be fucking surprised, Y/n/n." "She's done nothing you haven't"
Victoria watched you both go back and forth for a moment, leaning against your headboard. Smoke slowly swirling from her lips
"Whatever, don't come crying to me when she fucks you over." Giggling, you finally sat up, gesturing for the joint. "Sure Natie."
"Aw, Natie, we both know you're soft and squishy inside." Victoria commented, the boy glaring you both down as laughter filled the dorm. "Shut the fuck up, for the love of God."
"Why can't you hang out Saturday again?"
"I have a-"
"Vortex club party, right."
Letting out a sigh, your head teetered to the left to look at her in the driver's side seat. Hand gripping her steering wheel while the other rested on your thigh, tapping along to the beat on the radio.
"Chlo, we can hang out Friday and Sunday. Promise." Your blue haired girlfriend turned her head, taking her eyes off the road to give you a glare. "Why can't I come?"
Taking a deep inhale, Chloe liked watching you squirm at the question. Laying your cheek against your knuckles while watching the trees pass by.
"You know they don't like you, I'm still warming them up. Doesn't help you bought drugs off Nate and then threatened him-" She laughed which cut you off, her grip becoming tighter. "Right, my fault he's a pretentious, rich, dickhead."
"Chloe, he is not that bad once you realize why he acts how he is." The truck then whipped into the driveway of your house, coming to a stop as she turned to look at you. "Right."
"I didn't judge you based on how you acted. I knew there was a reason you did." With that you opened the door and got out, leaving her sitting there in silence while trying to come up with a response.
Though you thought she was going to leave, like planned, the sound of the driver side door opening and closing said otherwise.
"Damn, don't let the door hit me." She smiled only when you did, following after you and into your house. Close behind while observing you set down your belongings on your kitchen counter.
"I promise Chlo, I will tell them about you when the time is right." The inside of her cheek sucked in, and you could tell she was frustrated. But she didn't stop listening.
"I just want a better relationship between you and them before I tell them about us. They worry about me." She hummed but didn't say anything, the wordlessness overly abnormal.
"I worry about you too, but sure, Victoria's probably single I mean I'm sure she'd love to-" "Chloe Elizabeth Price, that is not what I mean and you know it."
Her mouth shut as she stared, her head cocked to the side while that stupid expression pointed at you.
"Max worries about you. I'm not accusing you of wanting her or vice versa, am I?" With her head thrown back, she groaned, following you to your room. "Babe, I'm sorry." You opened your door, walking towards your bed. "I know. I am too, I'm just trying to keep the peace between people I really care about."
Chloe watched as you began to change into your loungewear, talking as you tossed your shirt away.
"Nate and Vic are coming around. I just need a little more time."
You turned around at her unresponsiveness, noticing her leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed.
"What?" She shook her head, "Nothing. Just admiring the view. You're hot when you're worked up." You stood now in only your bra and whatever bottoms you chose that morning, placing your hands on your hips.
"Is that so?" "Yeah, actually." Humming and nodding your head, you turned away from her. Unclipping the garment and tossing it away with the rest of your clothes from the day.
"You can't distract me by flirting Chloe."
Quickly you stripped yourself of your lower clothing, stepping out at the same time two cold hands landed on your belly.
"Chloe!" Her laughter was audible from her place in the crook of your neck, "You should just tell them already, no matter what they're gonna be mad." "You know why I can't do that. Nate would flip his shit, since y'know, you threatened him."
"Who cares what that asshole thinks about me." You pulled away from her, putting a shirt over your head and turning around. "I do, because he's one of my best friends."
She could tell that once again, she'd upset you. Rolling her eyes and falling onto your bed while watching you search for a pair of shorts.
"And I'm your secret hookup, color me stoked, hotstuff." You turned, practically fuming at this point, slamming your drawer shut in the process. Balling up your shorts in your hand just out of frustration.
"Fuck you, Chloe."
Her stare wasn't on your pissed off face, though, when you walked over to her. She was watching how your hips swayed instead, your bare skin being kissed by the yellow glow of your lamp.
"You know that's not true." She let out a strained laugh, snatching the shorts from your hold. "Do I?" Chloe asked.
"Don't start with that." Chloe smiled at that, or smirked, you didn't notice either because you were trying to get your bottoms back.
"I think I will."
Her cold hand landed on thigh, pushing you forward and tumbling into her lap. Her shoulders became a support beam as you tried not to fall against her.
"We're like Romeo and Juliet." You stated, trying to lighten the mood and pretend you didn't want to pluck her eyes from her head.
"Only Juliet won't tell her evil fucked up family because they don't like that Romeo doesn't suck the Vortex Club's dick." Chloe replied, her fingers slipping between your thighs making you shiver.
And as she inched closer, the more and more you wanted to press your lower half downward to meet her touch. A light throbbing pain beginning to envelop the area between your legs.
"Chloe-" "I want you to tell them." The pad of her finger brushed over your clit, a tiny little gasp escaping your lips. "I can't yet..." She laughed. "Who the fuck said that?"
You opened your mouth to reply but nothing came out. Her hand gathered your wetness while slowly beginning to circle your little bundle of nerves.
"That's what I thought." You glanced down, gripping her forearm as she played with you. Toying with your needy entrance while enjoying the tiny twitches your face made.
Her tattooed arm moving back and forth just enough to make you want more.
"You're such a dick." You mumbled, "Says the one keeping me a secret." You wanted to complain, you really did, but not a word came out. "I don't give a shit whether or not I meet Nathan Bitchscott's standards. But apparently you do."
"No- no I don't Chloe-"
It wasn't just you she was working up now, it was herself as well. Chloe's jaw clenching in aggravation at her own thoughts, but that stupid smile stuck.
And soon it grew wider when two of her fingers plunged inside of your cunt, a much louder sound admitting into the air. You thanked everything that no one was home. Helplessly listening to the wet sounds of her moving in and out at an agonizingly moderate pace.
"Then tell them, because I'm sick of waiting." Her other hand snaked up towards the back of your head. Pushing you towards her mouth to catch you in a kiss. Her lips tasted like cigarettes and the soda you'd given her earlier in the day.
"Unless you're embarrassed? You embarrassed of me, hotstuff?"
She chuckled as you shook your head, a pout on your lips as she kissed you again. Her long fingers reached each and every little spot that made you hum against her open mouth.
"Faster, please.." And like you commanded, her hand sped up. Your body practically locking up against hers, your thighs shaking to hold the rest of you from toppling your girlfriend.
And closer and closer you inched towards your high. Beginning to sweat and pant, holding her, pleading silently, asking for release.
"Come on..." You kissed her once more, your legs giving out as your weight fell against Chloe. Her fingers still moving in and out, your hips humping against her hand which soon allowed a third finger inside.
Her mouth then got close to your ear. Her warm breath tickling your skin as she fucked into you. The pads of her fingers running up and down your walls.
"You tell them, or I take my hand away. How's that fucking idea?"
The noise you made sounded unholy, thighs clamping around her hand.
"I will, I will I promise, please Chloe- fuck." You whined the last word, her digits running along your special spot again and again as you stared into her eyes. "I will please, please let me cum."
Her other hand gripped the inside of your thigh, pulling them apart once again.
"Promise?" She watched your head move up and down quickly as you agreed, "I promise, Chlo, I promise." You whimpered, riding her hand as you tried your hardest to keep yourself close, despite her slowing.
Always the tease.
"Yeah?" Again you nodded over and over until she finally sped up, fucking into you at an unruly pace. Her palm hitting against your clit just right to the point of you crying out into the crook of her neck.
"M'close Chlo- please..."
"Fuck just- let go babe."
And you did, as the coil grew tighter and tighter, her neck vibrated as you moaned. Shaking as your hips sputtered against her knuckles. Pulling away just to kiss her lips, her throat swallowing up your sounds.
"M'sorry.." You muttered against her lips as you pulled back, your hand still holding her wrist that was between your thighs.
"You're gonna tell them, right?"
"Mhm." You nod, earning a sweet smile from your girlfriend.
"Thanks hot stuff."

it's a friday night, and the bar you are sat at is bustling with bodies. it was starting to get too much so you decided to step out for some air and a tipsy smoke. as you push the heavy door out, the nippy air sweeps in and instantly cools your flushed skin.
a soft sigh leaves you as you step around the corner and pull out your packet of cigs, sliding one out and holding it between your lips as you search for your lighter. once you feel it in your back pocket, you fish it out and spark it up. as the flame lights up your face, this is when you notice the mammoth of a man stood next to you, desperately trying to flicker his lighter to life.
he curses quietly and you look away, lighting up your own fag before silently passing over the lighter to him. he looks up, a black surgical mask hooked beneath his jawline and showing off a pretty gnarly scar across his face. "cheers, love." he grumbles, taking the lighter from you.
you nod silently with a soft smile before taking a long drag from your fag, holding the smoke in your lungs before slowly exhaling. you watch the smoke dance up into in the air for a moment before turning to the man next to you who's chuckling softly.
"like an angel sent from heaven, don't know what i would've done if i couldn't find a lighter." he mumbles as he brings the fag to his lips and inhales. you laugh quietly at his words, taking the lighter back from him.
"no big deal, glad to be of service." you joke with a smile, gently tapping the ash off your fag with your fingers. "i'd be the same if my vibe charger died." you mumble out, but the mysterious man hears you.
"that so?" he questions, and you blush as he turns to you with the fag hanging from his lips. "uh, uhm yeah. all got our own sin or poison, or whatever the saying is." you say, taking a long drag from the fag. he asks for your name, which you give him before asking the same.
once the two of you exchange names, you prompt him about his smoking. "so, addicted to nicotine huh?" you ask, watching him take a long drag from his fag. he nods silently, looking over at you as he slowly exhales the smoke.
"calms my mind and gives me something to do," he shrugs, watching the way you look away from his eyes. "and what about you? can't get enough of a wank?" simon teases and you snort.
"guess you could say that, is it a crime to love porn?" you question with a flushed face, unable to meet his eyes as the two of you smoke outside of the bar together and chat about your addictions.
simon looks back up at he night sky, staring at the bright stars before responding. "didn't say that love," he mumbles before continuing. "each to their own."
months down the line and the two of you are helping each other out - in reality you are only helping the other further aid their addictions.
simon is unable to bring fags now when he gets deployed as they pat him down and confiscate them. a mark now on his file from price to not let him smoke since he's been caught out on his addiction.
so to help, you'll send parcels with fag packets in bulk that he can hide in his room. he has a few secret smoking spots on base where he is sure to be alone and left like that for hours.
when he's back, you'll have him over and fuck him while watching porn together. he indulges in you, sometimes picks out videos that he likes and wants to show you which rots your brain even further.
oh and he fucks you so well, one of the best fuck buddies you've ever had. makes you cum multiple times before he's even got his cock stuffed into you. he likes to grab your jaw and force you to keep your eyes open while watching video after video.
it's a perfect little transaction almost that the both of you have, and no one bothers you about your addictions now. both of you realise that it's unhealthy and if others found out, they'd be disappointed but screw them.

Last Call
It was one of those sticky Friday nights in Seoul, when the city's flashes of neon lighting meld with the heartbeat of its humanity. At one corner of 7th and Maple stood a small bar, all but swallowed up in the ruckus of the surrounding city. It went by the name of "The Clover." Well-known for its cozy atmosphere, great cocktails, and perhaps the most tantalizingly best bartender you could ever set your eyes upon.
Bartender Yoon Jeonghan was known to make any easy night memorable. His charisma was quite infectious, and a bright smile brightened the gloomiest days. Tonight, however, the crowd was considerably thin, and soothing jazz hummed in the background, feeling rather like a gentle blanket cloaked around the room.
You had been coming here for months now, usually after a long week of work. It was your little escape, a place where you could relax and forget the world outside. Jeonghan, with his effortless charm and playful manner, had fast become the highlight of your visits. He always seems to know exactly what you'd need—sometimes a drink, sometimes a kind word, and sometimes just a listening ear.
You had decided to treat yourself tonight to a cocktail a little more adventurous than usual. As you slid into your favourite stool at the bar, Jeonghan's gaze met yours from behind the counter, and a knowing smirk played on his lips.
"Long time no see, my favourite customer," he said, inclined on the bar with an attitude of cool confidence. "What do I get for you tonight? Something wild and unforgettable, perhaps?"You chuckled, shaking your head. "You know me too well. I'm in the mood for something new tonight. Surprise me."
Jeonghan's eyes sparkled with mischief as he reached for a shaker. "Alright, brace yourself. This might just be the best choice you would have made all week."
You watched his moves; graceful and confident, fluid and precise. The dim light warmed up all his features and seemed to wash him into something unreal. His hands moved skillfully, mixing ingredients, creating something smelling tantalizing instead of sweet and a little bit spicy.
"So, tell me," he said as he poured the concoction into a glass, "what's the occasion? You seem to be in a particularly adventurous mood tonight."
You shrugged, a small smile playing on your lips. "Just felt like shaking things up a bit. It's been one of those weeks."
He slid a glass towards you as Jeonghan nodded sympathetically. "I get it, you know? Sometimes you just need a change of pace. This should do the trick." And he gestured at whatever colorful concoction was front and centre. "It's called an Eclipse. A little bit sweet, a little bit sour, with that mystery."
You took a sip, savoring the complex flavors that danced on your tongue. "Wow, Jeonghan. This is really awesome. You really outdid yourself."
His smile broadened. "Glad you like it. I aim to please."
The two of you locked eyes, and for a moment, everything except the two of you outside of the bar just melted away. The gaze he held you with, through those sharp, knowing eyes, made your heart miss a beat. Cocktails weren't the only special thing about The Clover: it was Jeonghan himself.
"So, what's your story, then?" you attempted to make conversation. "How did a guy like you end up in a place like this, mixing drinks and charming all my customers?"
Jeonghan leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Ah, my story is a long one. But let's just say that life has a funny way of leading you to where you're meant to be. I've always enjoyed making people smile, and this place allows me to do just that."
You nodded, intrigued. "Sounds like you've found your calling."
He laughed with a full belly—the rich, warm sound of true amusement. "Something like that. But enough about me. Let me hear about you. What's the big story behind this adventurous spirit of yours tonight?"
You hesitated a little, uncertain of exactly how much you wanted to share. "Oh, you know, just dealing with the usual ups and downs. Nothing too exciting. But tonight, I decided to embrace a little spontaneity.
Jeonghan's eyes glinted with interest. "Oh, really? I love spontaneity. It's nice to take a step out of your comfort zone, eh?"
You looked around the bar, at the few patrons lost in their own conversations. "It's pretty quiet tonight. Do you get nights like this often?"
"Occasionally," Jeonghan said, shrugging. "But I like it this way. It's more intimate. You get to have real conversations, make deeper connections.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, the kind that spoke volumes sans words. You sipped at your cocktail, enjoying the moment. Jeonghan washed his hands and began cleaning up the bar.
He returned to your side a few minutes later, leaning on the counter again. "So, I was thinking, since it's such a dead night and all, maybe I could offer you a little challenge?"
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A challenge? What kind of challenge?"
Jeonghan's grin only grew wider, which said a lot. "So. how about a sort of drink-mixing challenge? I'll make one based on a description you can give me, and we'll see if you guess the right ingredients. Deal?"
You chuckled at the idea, part funny and part intriguing. "All right, I'm in. Just don't make it something ridiculously impossible, please."
He raised his hands in surrender. "I promise. I'll keep it fair."
For the next few minutes, you took turns describing ingredients and flavors to him, and he mixed it with an easy practice. Each new concoction was a surprise, and you just had to rely on your taste buds and instincts to guess what is in each drink.
It was quite amusing, as everybody laughed, with a friendly spirit of competition. Jeonghan's eyes remained on yours, and there was that growing connection with each other. Besides, the time spent hanging out there reduced the significance of the outside world for a while. It was your turn, and after your long-awaited answer, he pretended to be amazed: "Whoa! Impressive! You really are a connoisseur."
You couldn't help but blush slightly at his compliment. "Thanks. I guess I've had my fair share of drinks."
Jeonghan leaned in, his voice low and flirtatious. "Well, if you need a partner in crime for more of these challenges, you know where to find me."
It was so sincere and playful in its mixture that it made your heart run. "I might just take you up on that offer," you replied, looking into his eyes.
The longer the night wore on and the closer last call came, the more the whole place beamed. As though the two of you were creating some kind of bubble of warmth and connection reaching further than usual.
You rose from your stool, ready to leave, feeling a pang of sadness at the thought of doing just that. Jeonghan followed you to the door, his expression at once teasing and serious.
"Don't be a stranger now," he intoned, his voice low and inviting, "I'll be right here, mixing drinks and lighting up the world."
You smiled and felt something inside your chest warm up for the first time in the whole damn night—only it isn't the cocktails this time. "I won't be. See you soon, Jeonghan."
You stepped out into the night with one last lingering look, welcomed back by the hum of the city. As you walked away, something about you said that this was not just any other night—you had to make this a connective moment, a spark of something else.
And with the first glance at The Clover behind your shoulder, you knew it was definitely not the last time by any stretch of imagination. Seriously though, you had a gut feeling that oh so much more surprises and adventures waited around the corner, for you and Yoon Jeonghan.

Have a great day !!
——————————
"Do we have to go?" Haechan groaned, packing up his bag as the two of you got ready to leave the library. "Yes, we do. We've already said we'd go." you chuckled, pulling your coat on and then your backpack as you headed to the door, leaving the purple-haired boy to jog to catch up to you. "But it's our movie night day! We do it weekly!" he whined, walking alongside you down the staircase. "We can do that tomorrow or Sunday. I'll most likely end up spending the night at yours anyway if he wins the game." you chuckled lightly, a small smile on your face. Hyuck was right. Fridays were always movie nights. They had been since the pair of you were sixteen. However, it so happened that Jeno's big game had been set for tonight, and everyone had agreed to go, knowing it was a big deal for him.
As the two of you walked out the door, he moved his hand in front of you, signalling for you to stop. He moved to in front of you, gently zipping your coat up before sorting your hood out. "It's cold, you should wrap up more." he murmured, his eyes lingering on you for a moment too long. As the two of you walked towards the dorms, neither of you dared to say a word about your intertwined hands in his coat pocket, simply enjoying the warmth of one another.
--------
Cheers and drunken slurred speech filled the dorm as everyone walked in, grins on everyone's faces. Jeno's game had gone well, with his team winning which led to the boys insisting everyone should go out for drinks. Jisung and Chenle were the first to go to their rooms, most likely to stay up playing games. Renjun was leading a very drunk Jeno and Jaemin to their respective rooms. You were too tired to fight Haechan as he pulled you to his room, secretly glad you wouldn't have to sleep on the uncomfortable sofa for the night.
"You alright?" he asked softly, shutting his door once the two of you had walked in. He was a lot different to his bubbly self during the day, tending to be more soft and caring when he was tired (especially when he'd been drinking too). You nodded, head resting on his shoulder as he handed you a water bottle. "Drink it." he murmured, kissing your forehead as he searched through his drawers for clothes for you to sleep in. You silently watched him as you sipped from the bottle, a soft smile on your face. He handed you a slightly oversized t-shirt and shorts, gently caressing your head.
"Go get changed, alright?" he murmured, eyes following you as he watched you go into the bathroom and push the door to. He took the chance to get changed into his pyjamas in the meantime before, asking if it was clear for him to join you in the bathroom. Once he had gotten a yes, he opened the door, leaning against the doorframe as he took in your sleepy figure in his clothes, grinning up at him. “You don’t know half of the things you do to me.” he murmured, arms wrapping around your waist as he kissed your forehead. The two of you got ready for bed together, brushing your teeth and doing skincare together.
He felt his heart skip a beat as he saw you comfy in his bed, looking like a puppy as you waited for him to come join you in bed. He turned all the lights off before finally climbing into bed with you, pulling you into his chest, arms tight around you. "You comfortable?" he mumbled, eyes glimmering as he took in how peaceful and content you looked, chuckling as you nuzzled into him more. "Goodnight, pretty." he murmured, caressing the back of your head. You hummed gently, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Goodnight sunshine." you responded. He could've sworn he'd heard a quiet 'I love you' come from your lips but he didn't want to get his hopes up, happy enough with what had happened.
This was definitely something he could get used to.

Bucky Barnes x Reader
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for my personal fic writing challenge for 2024, Sophie's Year of Fic! Featuring a new fic being posted every Friday, all year long :)
Fandom: Marvel
Summary: Bucky's not a fan of modern dating conventions, until Sam sets him up on a date with a good friend who shows him the potential of the modern world.
Word Count: 1,543
Category: Fluff
A/N: To the anon who sent me an idea outline for this, I hope you like it! It got merged with another idea I had, but hopefully, it's still pretty close to what you had in mind :) Thanks for continuing to read stuff for Grant Ward and enabling me to keep writing him- he's my fave, so I'm glad I have at least a few people to share the love with!
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
My eyes scanned the restaurant, trying to make out Bucky through the dim lighting. After a moment, I caught sight of him at a table by the window. I smiled and started heading his way. As soon as he noticed me, he shared my smile and stood to greet me. Always the perfect gentleman. My heart skipped a beat, and I made a mental note to make Sam some cookies or something as a thank you.
Sam Wilson, a good friend of mine even before he'd taken up the superhero mantle, had recently introduced me to the second supersoldier out of time that he'd befriended. Bucky Barnes, the reformed Winter Soldier, was a little different than the Man With A Plan Steve Rogers, but he'd been different in a way that I liked. We'd hit it off pretty well, and with a some meddling from Sam, we'd set up a date within a few weeks of first meeting each other.
I'd spent an hour and a half making sure my outfit looked just right and trying to convince my nerves to calm the hell down. It was just a first date, with someone I was already friendly with. And I knew Sam wouldn't steer me wrong. Tonight was going to be fun.
Once I got close enough to the table, Bucky pulled a small bouquet of roses out from behind his back, holding them out to me with a lopsided smile. I gasped, taking them from him with a slightly disbelieving look.
"I've been told the flowers are a little old fashioned, but... it seemed like the right way to go," he said. I gave a little laugh, taking a moment to smell the roses (literally) before beaming back at Bucky.
"I love them," I said. His shoulders seemed to relax a little, the smile spreading to cover the rest of his face as he took a few steps closer to me.
"I'm glad. Here, let me get your chair."
He pulled my chair back from the table, gesturing for me to sit down. I nodded my thanks, trying to ignore the butterflies exploding in my chest as he scooted the chair back in for me like it was nothing. I gently laid the roses down on the table as he took his seat across from me again.
"Thanks for finding this place," I said, scanning the restaurant to take in the ambiance this time, instead of just searching for Bucky. "It's... really nice."
"Yeah, no kidding," he said, huffing a small laugh. "Honestly, I'm... a little out of my depth here. A lot's changed since the last time I asked somebody on a date."
"Well, for what it's worth, you've been doing pretty damn well so far."
We shared a smile, but then a silence settled over us that wasn't entirely comfortable. As much as this night seemed perfect, I couldn't help agreeing with Bucky. This place wasn't totally my scene, and I was starting to feel a little out of my depth, too.
"So..." I said, taking a deep breath and meeting Bucky's eyes again. "What exactly did dates look like back in the 1940s? One of the handful of times I talked to Steve, he said you set up a pretty cool double date to... some kind of expo?"
Bucky's eyes fell to the table even as his mouth pulled up in a smile. He nodded, talking as much to himself as to me.
"Yeah. Despite how it ended, I was always pretty proud of the Stark Expo one. We got to see a car fly long before any of that should've been possible. Walking around, looking at all the exhibits and experiments... honestly, it was incredible." He looked back up at me, the soft smile still in place. "Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of major, groundbreaking expos happening tonight for us to swing by."
"Damn. That would've been fun," I said, gently reaching across the table to take Bucky's hand in my own. I bit my lip, then looked up at him with a smile. "You know, Steve also said you're kind of a nerd."
Bucky snorted. Clearly, that's not what he'd been expecting me to say. He shook his head, but when he looked back at me, he had a smile on his face.
"Steve's got quite a few stories of his own that he should keep in mind when he says things like that."
"Well..." I took a deep breath, hardening my own resolve. Bucky and I were friends, and for whatever reason, this restaurant didn't feel right for either of us. I needed to trust him and our relationship so far, rather than pretending for norms or anybody else's approval. "Look, I don't know about you, but... this restaurant is lovely, but not exactly my usual vibe."
Bucky sighed, shaking his head and pulling his hand out of mine.
"I know, it's not really mine either. I just-"
"Hold on. I have an idea for a solution that might suit us both. And I think it'll be super fun."
Bucky stared at me for a few moments appraisingly, the faintest ghost of a smile appearing on his face.
"You know, I'm not used to letting the other person plan the date. But I guess I can make an exception."
I grinned. "Good. Because I have an idea that didn't exist in the 40s, but is the kind of modern thing I think you'll be able to get behind. You trust me?"
"...Yeah, I do."
"Good." I took Bucky's hand, grabbed my roses, then stood from the table. "Then follow me."
****************
"...and in the original, Gollum volunteered the ring as a prize for Bilbo winning the riddle contest!"
I beamed at my date as he raised out of his chair, the few beers we'd had and his passion for Tolkien pushing him to make his point loudly after being called on for the bonus question of this round of trivia. The host grinned, ringing a bell and pointing at Bucky.
"Aaaaand that's correct! Mark that down as three points for Oldies and Goodies! Hang tight everybody while we update the scoring, and we'll be back with our final round in ten minutes."
With that, the bar dissolved into chatter again as everyone went their separate ways for the break in trivia. Bucky settled back down into his seat with a sigh, then carefully cut his eyes towards me.
"So... was that a dealbreaker for you?"
I laughed. "Are you kidding? You got us three points, all while schooling the rest of the bar on some nerdy shit! It was hot."
Bucky laughed at that, shaking his head even as a smile stayed in place on his face.
"Alright, I've done a lot of complaining to Sam about how much dating's changed since I last did it, but I'll admit... I like this."
I grinned. "I'm glad. And for the record, I like it too. As far as I'm concerned, being able to have fun and kick ass at bar trivia with someone is one of the best green flags there is."
"Well, good. Because that table over there is right behind us in the points, and after they shouted out the worst string of horseshit about the Hobit I've ever heard with complete confidence, there's no way I'm letting us lose to them."
"Hell yeah! I'll go grab us another round, and then we'll make them wish they'd never come to this trivia night."
I jumped down from my seat and started heading past Bucky to the bar, but he caught my arm before I could get very far, his expression more serious than I'd seen it all night.
"Hey. Thanks. For getting a round of beer, for agreeing to come out with me tonight, for bringing us here... it's the best time I've had in a while, and you've been pretty much the entire reason for that. So thank you."
I smiled, my heart speeding up in my chest as I took a half-step closer to Bucky and softly kissed him on the cheek before leaning back.
"You're welcome. Thanks for being willing to try out something as new and chaotic as bar trivia. Maybe we could even make it a weekly thing?"
Bucky beamed back at me. "Sweetheart, I would love that."
"Okay, good. Then start getting ready for the next round, because if we're coming back here next week, I want it to be in defense of our title. This is the beginning of the trivia power couple Oldies and Goodies."
"I like the sound of that," Bucky said, his voice dropping an octave as he leaned into me a little. I smiled, and he pulled me into his side, squeezing me tight before letting me go so I could get us both another round.
My dopey smile stayed on my face even as I got to the bar. I'd always had butterflies in my chest when I was around Bucky, but now, it was more than that. Being around him made me happy. I felt comfortable, and I didn't want the night to end. And luckily for me, he apparently felt the same way.
Destroying our enemies at trivia was just the beginning for us. And with no ending in sight, I truly couldn't wait to see what came next.

Yuno’s POV
The light patter of the rain was a reminder of how this all started. A chance encounter, a gut feeling, a gesture of kindness, all of these different choices were woven into the fabric of fate and led me here - eating dinner with Minji and her rich (and terrifying) parents. No matter how I twisted it, this is not at all how I thought I would spend my friday.
“The rain is getting bad out there. I’m so glad we caught you before you went out in the rain, we would hate for a friend of Minji’s to get sick,” Minji’s mom remarked, her warm, motherly smile concealing something that set off alarms in my head. I kept my guard up, no matter what.
Minji sat next to me, a worried expression painted on her face. She hasn’t said anything since discovering the blood stain on my sleeve from my altercation with Tyler. I wanted to say something to her, anything, but it was impossible in this tense atmosphere. The guilt of not being able to tell her the truth was eating me up inside.
“Dinner is served. Eat as much as you like, dear,” Ms. Kim says, gesturing to the food she had set on the table. An array of different side dishes I had never seen before surrounded a large roasted fish adorned with sauce and vegetables. My stomach grumbled at the sight. It was more food than I had ever seen in my entire life, and it didn’t help that I was also starving from not eating anything the entire day. Without thinking, I quickly grabbed a little bit of everything and piled it onto my plate. Right as I was about to dig in, I noticed the shocked expressions of Minji’s parents.
“S-sorry… I-I’m hungry,” I stuttered sheepishly, earning a small chuckle from Minji. I felt the heat cover my face as her parents got their food, taking much smaller portions than I had. Right as I pick up the spoon to my lips, Mr. Kim clears his throat.
“So, Yuno,” he begins, focusing his gaze on me. “How long have you been friends with our daughter? Minji never mentioned you before.”
Regretfully, I place down my spoon as I think of an appropriate response. “Uhh, we’ve been friends for…” I turn to look at Minji, hoping to find an answer, but her eyes are glued to her plate as if she’s lost in thought. “Three days. We’ve been friends for three days.”
Mr. Kim’s eyebrow rises slightly in surprise. “Really? And how did you two end up meeting?”
I gulped, my mind going back to the circumstances of our first meeting. Sure, I’ll tell one of my only friend’s parents that I met her in the detention room after beating someone up to the point of hospitalization. They’ll totally love me after that, right? Thankfully, I have an easy out due to Minji’s lie from earlier.
“We got partnered together for science class,” I state, trying my best to sound confident. Mr. Kim narrows his eyes as he studies my expression. I stare back, not wanting to show weakness in front of him.
“What do your parents do for work?” he asks. The questions were starting to feel a bit too personal, but I would rather not risk going against him.
“My dad works the night shift as a security guard,” I responded. Despite seeing him passed out drunk everyday, he somehow managed to maintain his job all these years. Either that or he never bothered to tell me he got fired.
“And your mom?”
“She’s, uhh…” I glance at Minji for a brief moment, hesitating to answer. “She’s dead.” The room falls silent as each member of the Kim family looks back at me with a mix of shock and sympathy on their faces.
“I-I’m sorry to hear that, dear,” Ms. Kim says, her intimidating demeanor replaced with genuine compassion.
I shrug in response. “It’s fine, it was a couple years ago. I’m okay now.” I stare down at my plate, unable to look any of them in the eye. Truthfully, I was never completely okay with my mother’s death, but what was I supposed to do? Cry in front of them?
Mr. Kim opens his mouth to say something, but his wife stops him. “Honey, you should let him eat,” she says in a stern tone. Mr. Kim relented, and a sense of relief washed over me as I was silently grateful for her intervention. Not only was the onslaught of questions exhausting to face, but I was also still hungry. The rest of the dinner was spent in silence, aside from the clinking of silverware against porcelain and the rhythmic downpour outside.
______________________________________________________________
I lean back in my chair, completely stuffed. Every single bite of food had more flavor than I’ve ever had in my entire lifetime. As intimidating as Minji’s parents were, they were also amazing cooks. I peer outside and notice that the rain had stopped. Taking my chance, I stand up and excuse myself from the table.
“Thank you for the meal, but I should really get going now.” Before they had a chance to respond, I swiftly exit the room, grabbing my backpack. Right as I reach the front door, Minji’s voice calls out to me.
“Wait!” she exclaims, trailing after me. “I’ll walk you home.” I give her a confused look as she turns to her parents. “It’ll give us a chance to talk about the project some more. Just like you say, every second counts.”
Mr. Kim contemplates for a moment before nodding. “Alright then. Be careful, and don’t be out too late. Your mother and I want to talk to you once you get back.”
Minji follows me outside and shuts the door behind us, releasing a long sigh as she leans against the wall. “That was soooooooooo stressful. I’m sorry you had to go through all that, Yuno.”
I chuckle lightly, joining her on the wall. “It’s alright. I’ve survived worse.” We stood together in silence for a while, the chilly evening air gracing our faces, infused with the lingering scent of rain. Minji is the first to break the silence as she turns to me, a look of sadness in her eyes.
“I’m sorry about your mom. I had no idea she was…” Her voice trailed off as she avoided saying “the word”.
“It’s okay, Minji. Really.” I give her a reassuring look as we both head start walking towards my house, the gentle moonlight guiding our path.
“She died in a hospital fire three years ago,” I began, my voice carrying the weight of the past. Minji looks up at me, listening intently. “She was a nurse. Very caring and loved helping people. Even as the building was burning all around her, she spent the last moments of her life helping people.” I fall quiet as my gaze falls to the ground in contemplation.
“Yuno…” Minji reaches out and pats my shoulder reassuringly. “I’m so sorry.”
My legs freeze in place as I turn to look at her. The chorus of chirping crickets and the subtle howl of the evening wind created a backdrop as I met Minji's saddened eyes. What was she apologizing for? The fire wasn’t her fault. It was an act of fate, a cruel twist beyond anyone’s control. Some higher power up there decided that my mother’s life would be cut short, whether I liked it or not. There was nothing I could do about it.
“Minji…” I call out her name as I unravel my sleeve, revealing the blood stain. “I got into another fight. Tyler McGraw.” I did my best to keep a straight face, but my heart was thumping with anxiety. “He was beating up a freshm… He was beating up my friend. I couldn’t control myself. I’m sorry.”
Fate has a sick and twisted way of working. It brings people together, and tears people apart. Any single one of us could drop dead without a single warning if it willed it. Our entire lives we spend making decisions that we think will matter in the end, but at the snap of a finger, all those efforts could be in vain. Yet, here I stood, disclosing my vulnerabilities to the person I expected the least. Whether this is a blessing or a curse is yet to be seen, and I’ll be damned if I don’t see this until the end.
Minji’s expression shifted from sadness to disappointment to confusion as her mind processed the information. I could do nothing but stand there, vulnerable and exposed as I awaited her response.
She lets out a heavy sigh. “How is your friend?” she asks, her gaze fixated on the ground. Her disappointed tone felt like a knife stabbing through my heart.
“He’s okay, I think. Your friend with the glasses helped us out.”
“Danielle?” she says, looking up at me with a surprised look before clearing her throat. “Well, that’s good. What about Tyler?”
I scratched my head, averting my gaze as I searched for the right words. “He’s uhhh… He’ll be out for a few days. Maybe a week. Or two,” I admitted sheepishly. Minji pinched the bridge of her nose as I stood there like a child who was caught red handed.
“You were just… protecting your friend. I’m not gonna fault you for that,” she says, pushing past me. I was left in shock at her unexpected understanding. “What are you standing around for? I said I’d walk you home. Come on.”
I pick my jaw up off the ground and catch up to her, leading the way to my house. We spend the rest of the walk in silence, tension hanging in the air. I stole a couple glances at her, but I couldn’t read her expression at all. Is she mad? Disappointed? All of the above? Before I knew it, we were face to face with my front door.
“This is my house,” I say bluntly.
“Okay. Bye,” Minji says with an unusual coldness, turning to leave.
“W-wait,” I stammer, calling out to her.
She turns around, her expression blank and unreadable. “What?”
“Are we… still friends?” I cringed, feeling a pang of embarrassment at the vulnerability of the question. Minji chuckles in response, a genuine smile gracing her face for the first time in a while.
“Yes, we’re still friends, silly.” The tension in the air dissipated and my heart felt as light as a feather as a sigh of relief escapes my lips. “You’re a good person, Yuno. I just wish you would stop getting into trouble.”
“Cool. Um, good night, Minji.” I wave awkwardly at her as she leaves. “U-uh, get home safe!”
Minji giggles, the sweet sound of her voice echoing through the air. “Good night, Yuno!” Her smile imprinted itself into my brain as I watched her silhouette fade into the night.
I’m greeted by the dark and desolate state of my living room as I enter my house, but all of it fades away as an unfamiliar feeling of elation stirs in my chest. I trudged to my bedroom and collapsed onto my bed, the events of the evening taking their toll on me. Meeting Minji’s parents was exhausting, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t happy that she considered me as a friend. As my eyelids slowly flutter shut, visions of Minji flashed through my head, invading my dreams.

Minji’s POV
As I walk through the door, I see my parents sitting on the couch waiting for me. I gulp as a steady tension fills the air.
“Minji. Have a seat dear, your father and I want to talk to you,” my mom says in a serious tone. A thousand thoughts fill my mind as I wonder what they could possibly want to talk about.
My dad clears his throat, his eyes meeting mine. “This Yuno boy… We don’t want you hanging around him.”
I felt my heart drop in my chest. “W-what? Why?”
“He seems… sweet, but we don’t think he’ll be of any benefit to you in the future,” my mom explains. “Once you two are done with your science project, we want you to cut all contact with him.”
A mix of anger, confusion, and sorrow welled within me. “B-but-”
“No buts, Minji. You should be grateful that we still let you talk to Hanni,” my dad interrupts. “If you want to be successful in life, you must surround yourself with those that are like minded. Frankly, I don’t see that boy amounting to anything.”
I tried to argue, but my voice got caught in my throat. It would have been pointless anyways since they never listened. Without another word, I stormed upstairs to my room.
“Minji!” I ignored my father’s calls as I slammed my bedroom door behind me before collapsing onto my bed. Why were they always like this? Why couldn’t I just be friends with anyone? Tears welled in my eyes as I pulled out my phone, calling Hanni. After just one ring, she picks up.
“Hey girl, looks like you got your phone back, I wonder who gave it to you,” she answered, giggling.
“Hi Hanni…”
“Oh no, what happened?” she asked, her tone shifting as she noticed the sadness in mine.
“I’m just so… frustrated with my parents. It hasn’t even been a full day since they’ve been back, yet I’m already so exhausted.” I snuggled with my bear plush, hoping it would make all my problems go away.
“I’m so sorry, Minj. Do you wanna talk about it?”
I let out a heavy sigh. “Not really. I’d rather forget all about it.”
“Hey, I have an idea! Why don’t we go to the fair tomorrow with the girls? You’ve been stressed enough with all the prom junk, you deserve to have a break.” she suggested.
“Ehhh, I’m not sure, Hanni. I would love to, but I’m not sure if my parents would let me go.”
“Girl, just tell them you’re going to the library with Dani to study. They’ll have to say yes!”
I hesitated for a moment, contemplating the pros and cons. On one hand, my parents would absolutely kill me if they found out, but on the other hand, a break does sound nice. For the past couple months, my life has been nothing but school work, studying, student council meetings, and prom preparations. I’ve rarely had any time to just have fun. Steeling my nerves, I made up my mind.
“Okay. Let’s do it then,” I say, my heartbeat quickening with excitement and anxiety.
“WOOOOOO!!!” Hanni cheered through the phone. “We’ll pick you up at three, you better be ready by then.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at her elation. “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow then. Good night, Hanni.”
“Good night, girllllll.”
I hang up the phone, placing it on my night stand before falling onto my pillow with a sigh. Tomorrow would be fun for sure, but what about after that? What if my parents found out that I lied to them and went to the fair? Would I be able to live with the consequences? I shake my head, trying to dispel the worries from my mind. Regardless of what will happen afterwards, I was determined to have fun and mess around for one day.

Yuno’s POV
I jolt awake from an aching pain shooting down my back. My body had gotten so used to sleeping at Minji’s house that I forgot how shitty my own mattress was. Heading downstairs, I’m surprised to see my father not only completely conscious, but he was also cooking breakfast. And it smelled amazing.
“Uh, hey dad,” I grumbled, half-convinced I was in a dream.
He startles, almost as if he was surprised to see me. “Yuno. M-morning,” he stuttered nervously. “U-uh, why don’t you have a seat? I cooked up some breakfast.”
My hunger trumps my confusion as my legs carry me to the table, adorned with a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I quickly dug into the feast, almost choking on a piece of bacon in the process.
“Slow down there,” my dad chuckles lightly. “I guess I haven’t been doing a great job of feeding you, huh.” The gloom and regret in his tone were palpable while his eyes were fixated to the floor, avoiding mine.
I pause mid-bite to look up at him. “It’s fine. I managed.”
“It’s not fine.” Anger tinges his voice, directed more at himself than anyone else. “S-sorry, I just… I should’ve been taking care of you. Your mother’s death was hard on both of us, but that’s not an excuse for me to neglect you. I want- No, I need to make things right, Yuno. Will you ever forgive me for being a terrible father?”
A flood of emotions overwhelms me, freezing my body in its wake. After my mom died three years ago, my father turned to alcohol to numb the pain. I never blamed him for it; she was a bright light in both of our lives and her absence left us completely shattered.
I gulped, suppressing the swirl of emotions bubbling within me. “Y-yeah, dad. I forgive you.”
A smile grows on his face - the first time I’ve seen him smile in years. “Thank you, son. I promise I’ll be here for you from now on.” A strange choking feeling constricts my throat as tears begin to well within my eyes. I rise from the table, turning my head away.
“Where are you going?” my dad asks. “You should eat some more if you're hungry.”
“U-uh, I just remembered, I uh have plans with some friends today,” I lied impulsively. I’m not sure why I lied, but all I knew is that I needed to get out of the house.
“Friends? That’s great, Yuno. Go out and have fun, don’t worry about me.” The smile that grew on his face only made me feel worse about lying. I quickly grab a hoodie and $20 from my room, not bothering to change out of my sweatpants. Right before I leave through the front door, I turn to my dad, who’s washing the dishes.
“Bye, dad,” I called out to him, a memory of my five year old self doing the same thing flickering in my mind.
“Bye, Yuno. I’ll see you later,” he waves as I close the front door behind me.
My dad sobering up after all these years is a great thing. I should be happy for him. Yet, I couldn’t knock this strange feeling in the back of my head. I took a deep breath in, hoping the cool morning air would help clear my mind. The sun casts its warmth on my face as I begin walking aimlessly. With no plan in mind, I decided to head to the convenience store.
The familiar jingle of the convenience store door chimes as I step inside, the pungent scent of cooking hotdogs assaulting my senses.
“Good morning, welcome to- Yuno!” Winter greets me with a mop in her hand, her demeanor much more upbeat than what I’m used to seeing from her.
“Oh, hey. Didn’t know you were working today.”
“I’m just filling in for one of my coworkers who’s out sick. Are you looking for anything in particular? We just restocked on the ramen you got last time,” she offered.
I hesitated, contemplating the answer myself. “No thanks. I just needed to get out of the house.”
“Are you alright, Yuno? Did something happen?”
“No? I don’t know, I’m all conf-”
“YUNO!!”
A short figure appears out of nowhere and attempts to tackle me from the side. My instincts kick in, allowing me to dodge the attack and grab the back of the assailant’s collar.
“Who the fuck-” My eyes widen in shock as I see that my attacker is none other than Yujin. A white medical eyepatch covers his black eye, but the rest of the wounds on his face seemed to have healed overnight. “Yujin? What are you doing here?”
“He came to visit me at work,” Winter answers, mopping the floor. “It’s been a bit slow this morning, so he offered to come hang out until my shift ends.”
“Yeah, I even told her all about your epic battle with Tyler!” Yujin says, beaming up at me. I release my grip on the back of his shirt as my cheeks burn slightly from embarrassment.
“It wasn’t epic, it was… Whatever. Where the hell is the ramen?” I groan as I drag my feet towards the ramen aisle.
______________________________________________________________
The three of us sit at a table in front of the store, enjoying the gentle breeze. Warm, spicy ramen broth slides down my throat as I finish the bowl.
“It’s such a nice day outside,” Winter comments. Her eyes are shut with contentment as she leans against the table.
“We should all do something fun since the weather is so nice!” Yujin suggests, his eyes beaming with excitement.
With no actual plans for the day, I had no choice but to agree. “Sure. Why the hell not.”
Winter nodded in agreement. “Where do you guys wanna go?”
My mind went blank. I have no idea what people do for fun, let alone these two. When was the last time I had fun anyways?
Yujin hopped out of his seat, a twinkle of elation in his smile. “We can go to the fair! It’s been forever since I last went. What do you guys think?”
I scratched my head in contemplation. It’s not how I imagined spending my weekend, but my life hasn’t exactly been predictable as of late. The fair did sound… intriguing. “Okay. I’m down.”
“M-me too,” Winter added. “I haven’t been to the fair since I was seven. I wonder if they still sell those chocolate chip cookies I used to love.” As if on cue, her stomach loudly grumbled. I couldn’t help but chuckle as her cheeks grew pink with embarrassment. A group of students walked past us, entering the store.
“I-I should get back to work now. I’ll text you guys when I’m done,” Winter said before disappearing into the store.
“We’ll see you later, Winter!” Yujin called out to her before turning back to me. “Hey Yuno, what’s your number? I’ll make a groupchat with the three of us.”
“Don’t bother. I don’t have a phone,” I said before walking off. Yujin followed closely behind me, bewilderment painted on his face.
“What?! What do you mean you don’t have a phone?! How do you even live?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know. Never needed one,” I answered simply. It was the truth - up until now I had no one to text or call. Social media seemed like a waste of time and my dad was always too drunk to wonder where I was when I went out.
“That’s crazy. Let’s stop by my house real quick, I can lend you my old phone,” Yujin says.
“You don’t need to do tha-”
“You helped me out twice, alright? This is the only way I can repay you, so just take it.” There was an adamance in his voice that made it difficult for me to refuse.
I relented with a sigh. “Fine. Lead the way.” Yujin grinned at me before pulling me in the opposite direction towards his house. The bright rays of the sun washed over us, filling me with a sense of calm. With how weird the last couple of days have been, it felt nice to be outside.
“By the way, my grandma doesn’t speak much English, but I can translate for you. I don’t bring friends over often, so she’ll probably want to talk your ear off,” Yujin says, chuckling to himself.
“That’s fine. What about your parents? I ask rather bluntly. His expression darkens, sending a pang of guilt into my chest. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“It’s okay, Yuno,” Yujin reassures me. “I lived with my parents back when I was still attending my old school. I wanted to stay with them, but they thought it was best for me to live with my grandma after they found out how bad I was being bullied. They would freak out if they ever found out I was being bullied here too…” His gaze fell to the floor and his shoulders slouched, his usual vibrant energy dissipating in front of my eyes. Feeling guilty, I place a hand on his shoulder supportively.
“Don’t worry about it. No one’s gonna mess with you anymore.” I awkwardly patted Yujin on the back, hoping it would cheer him up even a little bit. Thankfully, it ended up working as his frown was replaced with a small yet hopeful grin.
“Thanks, Yuno. I think my parents would like you.” I kept my mouth shut, grappling with the uncertainty of whether Yujin’s parents would like their son hanging around with someone who kicks the shit out of bullies just because he can. We soon arrived in front of Yujin’s house, which was similar to all the houses in the neighborhood, save for the pair of rocking chairs decorating the front porch.
“Before my grandpa died, my grandma and him would sit in those chairs to watch the sunrise together. That’s kinda cute, don’t you think?” Yujin’s words hung in the air as he unlocked the door. I could only offer a nod as my understanding of romance and the like was nonexistent.
Upon stepping into his home, we were immediately greeted by Yujin’s grandmother, resting in a large reclining chair. The two of them exchange words in a language I can’t recognize, and Yujin says something makes his grandma smile.
“Grandma said that you’re very tall and handsome,” he says, chuckling. A rush of warmth tinges my cheeks, caught off guard by the unexpected compliment.
“O-oh, uh, tell her I said thanks. I guess.” Yujin relays my message, triggering a bout of laughter from his grandma that eventually transforms into a coughing fit.
“Yujin, are you back alre- Oh jeez.” Danielle suddenly rounds the corner, carrying a saucer with a cup of tea balancing on top of it. Her casual attire of a simple yellow t-shirt and jeans was a far cry from the cold aura she normally exuded in her school uniform. She places the cup of tea on the table next to Yujin’s grandma before turning her attention back to me.
“Yuno. Hello,” she greets, glaring at me through her glasses. I nod back, bewildered by her presence in Yujin’s home.
“Danielle and her mom are helping me take care of grandma. They’ve been really helpful ever since yesterday.” A genuine smile illuminated Yujin’s face, inadvertently softening Danielle’s expression. It immediately hardened as her gaze went back to me. “I just stopped by to give Yuno my old phone to borrow since he doesn’t have one of his own. Isn’t that crazy?” he explains to Danielle.
She scrutinized my expression with steely eyes, sending chills down my spine. Minji’s parents may have been scary, but Danielle was a completely different beast. “You’re just giving it to him? He’s not, I don’t know, threatening you to give it to him?” she interrogates. I instinctively rolled my eyes at her words while Yujin simply laughed it off.
“It’s the least I could do to repay him for…” He gestures to his eyepatch, cautiously glancing at his grandma, who drifted off to sleep without anyone of us noticing. Yujin’s phone suddenly buzzes in his pocket, revealing a text from Winter. “We should hurry, Winter’s shift is ending soon. Come on, Yuno!” he says before running up the stairs. I quickly follow behind him, not wanting to be left alone with Danielle.
Yujin’s room is the epitome of a stereotypical geek’s paradise. The walls are lined with a colorful variety of superhero posters, accompanied by some drawings he had done himself. On the far side of the room, a shelf is filled to the brim with action figures, fake weapons, and a single first place trophy for a “Junior Art Competition”. His desk is the complete opposite of Minji’s, half-finished drawings, eraser shavings, and colored pencils scattered along its surface.
“Sorry about the mess, I would’ve cleaned up if I knew you would be coming over,” Yujin says as he rummages through a drawer on his desk, pulling out a phone. “Here. It’s not much, but you’ll be able to call and text people, and you can download some games on there if you want.”
It was smaller and less impressive than most phones I’ve seen people carry, but I couldn’t complain. It was better than anything I’ve had before (which was nothing). “Thanks,” I utter as I take the phone from his hands. “I’ll, uh, keep it safe.”
Yujin chuckles as he leaves his room. As we reach the bottom of the stairs, he suddenly stops. “Oh shoot, I should probably give you the charger too,” he says before darting back to his room. I turn around to wait for him in the living room, only to find Yujin’s grandma beckoning me with a wrinkly hand. As if I was in a trance, I suddenly started inching towards her, like a snake being hypnotized by a flute. She muttered in my ear in perfect english: “Please take care of Yujin.” Her message was plain and simple, yet I was still filled with questions. Before I could ask any, however, she was already fast asleep. I was starting to wonder whether or not I imagined the whole interaction.
“What are you doing?” Danielle asks from across the room. Somehow, I failed to notice her presence this entire time.
“N-nothing, she just… Sorry,” I stutter awkwardly. With impeccable timing, Yujin appears from the stairs with a phone charger in hand, saving me from this awkward situation.
“Here you go, Yuno. We should head out now, Winter oughta be done with her shift by now,’ he says. “Bye, Danielle!”
Danielle waves at Yujin as we leave, shooting one final glare directed at me right as the door closes. I inspected his old phone, turning it around in my hand. Aside from a couple essential apps, it was completely bare bones, and even the lock screen was nothing but a plain blue rectangle.
“I should probably add your number to the group chat now, huh,” Yujin says, pulling out his phone. After a brief moment, I feel the phone vibrate in my hand with an audible buzz. A notification on the phone reads, “You have been added to a group chat!”
“There you go! If you ever need to talk to either of us, just send a message and one of us is bound to answer!” He flashes me a wide toothy grin that I silently snicker at. A vivid memory of my childhood suddenly plays in my mind - a timid only child playing with his imaginary siblings. I never brought it up with my mother when she was alive, but I always wanted a younger sibling to play with and take care of. That want manifested itself into an imaginary younger brother that played with me when no other kid would. Of course I’ve long outgrown that phase by now, but something about Yujin is eerily similar to the imaginary younger brother I had before. Or maybe I’ve finally gone insane.
“So.. the fair. What’s it like?” I ask him.
“What?! You’ve never been to the fair before either?! How on earth are you even alive right now?!” Yujin exclaims, his eyes growing wide with disbelief. “As your friend, it’s my job to ensure that you have a fun day at the fair. Now let’s hurry up, Winter is probably waiting for us.” He grabs my arm and pulls me forward, running to the convenience store. A small grin grows on my face as the wind blows past my ears.
______________________________________________________________
“Are you two ready?” Winter asks us as she steps out of the convenience store. She’s dressed in a flowery sundress with a forest green cardigan layered over the top, a contrast to her plain work uniform.
“Yup, we’re all ready! I got some extra cash for the subway,’ Yujin says.
“Subway?” I ask. My hand shoots into my pocket, fingering the $15 I have left and regretting my decision to buy ramen that morning.
“Don’t worry about the subway, we can just use my metrocard,” Winter says, pulling out a shiny plastic card from her purse. I let out a sigh of relief, although I can’t help but feel bad for not being able to pay for myself.
“Alright, let’s hurry before the lines get too long!” Yujin skips ahead of us with the excitement of a child bringing home a new toy, eliciting a giggle from Winter.
The sun flashes its light into my eyes, casting its warm glow on my skin. A light fluttering fills my heart with each step, and for the first time in years, I felt hopeful for what the day would bring.

Can you do AoT characters reactions when watching a scary movie with their SO?
ꕤ the aot characters & scary movies with you ꕤ
eren jaeger was the one who came up with the idea of watching a horror movie. he’s a simple man. as much as he enjoys horror movies, he enjoys the way you cuddle up to him even more.
armin arlert isn’t particularly fond of scary movies. his preference is psychological thrillers compared to classic horror. he’s not scared, he just finds the themes repetitive. he’ll watch them for you and only for you.
jean kirstein had every intention of putting on a scary movie just so you would cozy up to him. the entire time he’s side-eyeing you, waiting for you to get scared, to need him. eventually you catch his drift and scooch closer to him, not because you’re scared, but because you just want to feel him.
reiner braun isn’t a big fan of scary stuff. contrary to popular belief, he’s kind of a big scaredy cat imo. he dreaded watching the movie when you asked him, but you’re his partner so he said yes. he often closes his eyes, looks away. he absolutely hates blood and guts. he’s happy when it ends.
bertholdt hoover is another man who hates gore. he agrees to watch a horror film with you as long as it doesn’t show anything too extreme. whatever movie you pick, he surprisingly ends up enjoying it and you rope him into watching another.
connie springer doesn’t shut his trap the entire movie but somehow winds up scared. by the end of the night he’s practically in your lap. he then proceeds to talk about how the movie sucked and he wasn’t even scared. he definitely has nightmares after.
porco galliard is somebody who says they love films like these but ends up with sweaty palms half way through. he’s all “the scarier the better” until it’s time for bed and he leaves a light on. he’s glad you’re with him because if you weren’t, he’d be scared shitless.
levi ackerman doesn’t care for scary movies at all which is weird because he really really enjoys halloween and decorating for the holiday. he’s kind of a film bro, very opinionated on all sorts of movies. he prefers the classic scary movies like nightmare on elm street and friday the 13th. he’s kind of silent the entire time it’s playing but he’s happy to be with you. he cherishes these moments even if you pick a shitty movie and he will definitely let you know that you did.
erwin smith is the same as levi in the way that he enjoys the classics BUT he’ll only watch them around halloween time. so come late september and october, you and him will be plopped in front of that tv. he loves laughing at all the terrible acting and bad effects.
zeke jaeger is reluctant when you suggest the idea but he’s easily convinced. surprisingly, he ends up really interested in the plot. but he also asks you one hundred questions which is annoying because you are so scared you can’t even focus on his questions. he knows he’s annoying you so he shuts up and holds you in his big, strong arms.
hange zoe LOVES horror films. loves loves loves. they’re their favorite type of movie. they’ll always suggest putting one on. they live for the blood, the guts, the glory. they love a good monster. and honestly, you love watching them have so much fun. they’ll turn to you like, “oh (y/n)! did you see the way that person spewed blood?? it was so awesome!” they also talk the entire time but because you’re their significant other, you find it endearing.
historia reiss is a little too into the movie. she gets this gleam in her eyes like she’s having the time of her life. she’s always on the edge of her seat, literally. she’ll grab your hands during the really really scary parts. but for the most part, she’s fearless. you and her will split the biggest bowl of popcorn ever.
ymir doesn’t really care for movies, no matter the type. she prefers tv shows because they’re shorter. but if you beg her, she’ll say yes and she’ll buy all the snacks. she ends up laughing for most of the film and it annoys the crap out of you. she’s all “sorry baby you know i love you but this movie is terrible!”
mikasa ackerman knows her movie etiquette. phone on silent and she is silent, too. she flinches here and there but only at the jump scares. she falls asleep right before the end with her head in your lap or on your shoulder.
sasha braus likes watching movies especially with you. i wouldn’t say horror films are her favorite but she definitely enjoys them. she enjoys whipping up some snacks with you and then snacking on them with you during the movie. she’s definitely the type to jump and throw the popcorn in the air. overall, she’s an excellent person to watch a movie with but like mikasa, she ends up falling asleep if you watch them late at night which results in you carrying her to bed.
annie leonhardt picks the movie out. she picks the scariest movie ever but is nearly unphased the entire time. she keeps a kind of neutral expression on her face but she enjoys the shit out of being there with you. she holds you and makes you feel safe. she encourages you to get as close as you need to her.
pieck finger is such a couch potato so of course she says yes when you ask her to watch a scary movie with her. she gets all the blankets, all the snacks and turns out all the lights. she’s so excited to spend time alone with you. she lays down on the couch and you lay sort of on top of her. you both end up falling asleep before it’s over.
blehh i think that’s everyone hey check out my jean fanfiction right here right now tysm for the request!

Swing Dancin'
Summary: She was lucky enough to have a regular gig as a singer at a club in Brooklyn, and he was simply the beautiful soldier she had stolen a drink from.
Word Count: 3K
Warnings: 1940’s James Buchanan Barnes is a warning, fluff, no angst, implications of smut but not explicit, my first fic in like 5 years please be gentle with me (If you remember this fic from my bucky account I had in 2018 ily and this is the much better, edited version)
Amber lighting illuminated swirling dresses and sparkling crystal glass, the smell of cigar smoke floating through breezes of laughter spilling from the dance floor and the bar. This was her environment, the comfort she thrived in. Women in dresses and skirts that tickled their legs as they were twirled by men in uniform, enjoying normalcy for as long as possible before loading up and shipping off to fight in the war. Y/N got to observe this environment every Friday night. Sometimes, if she let out a saccharine giggle and held back her vomit when the club manager Louis touched her ass and made sleazy remarks, Saturdays too.
Minutes before her set, Y/N was reapplying her cherry red lipstick to her lips, half listening to the soldier holding her compact for her as he chattered on about something or the other. Maybe complimenting the deep blue of her dress, or the way it plunged just a little more than all of the other girls’ in the room, or her beautiful hair done up in curls. Nothing significant enough for Y/N to pay attention to, and certainly nothing that she hadn’t heard before. The man was less than charming and bordering on leery, and it looked as if he didn’t brush his teeth. Y/N got to her feet gracefully, the click of her heels muted in the noise. She shot the soldier a small smirk of a smile, lightly plucking her compact from his fingers and snapping it shut, slipping it into her clutch.
“Thanks darlin’,” y/n hummed ever so sweetly. She left the soldier slack jawed with an absentminded pat on his cheek and turned her gaze towards the stage, shooting a smile at the band who were finishing up with a fun bit of a jazz jive.
Sammy, the bassist, got the attention of the rest of the band and nodded at them, giving them the cue to wrap up the last few riffs so he could announce the woman just as he had every week for the past two months, since she had moved back to Brooklyn and secured this gig. With a final crescendo of the brass, the band was done, and Sammy was at the mic with a charismatic smile.
“Now, now, now, listen up y’all. I’m glad we’re all havin’ a good time, and it’s about to get a whole lot better! ‘Cause we got one of the best singin’ dames in Brooklyn back tonight!” Sammy shouted the last few words enthusiastically, and there was a chorus of drunken and sober shouts of approval alike accompanied by raucous applause. Y/N rolled her eyes, her smile still adorning her lips and a light flush visible high on her cheekbones. She absentmindedly patted her hair, smoothing her dress once more. In the split second before she was meant to take the stage, movement beside her shoulder caught her attention. With a quick glance to her right, Y/N snatched a glass of amber alcohol out of the oblivious soldier's hand and downed it in one go, the burn welcome in her throat. The man, once he had worked through a moment of shock at what exactly just happened, protested, but when she turned her gaze to him and his greyish blue eyes met her beautiful, enthralling ones, his voice caught in his throat. She dropped her mascara coated eyelashes into a demure wink at the admittedly handsome man, a smile on her cherry lips.
“Thanks for the drink, soldier,” she said sweetly, sparing him one last glance before swanning up the steps to the stage. Her lips curled back in place as she flashed a brilliant smile to Sammy, who handed her the microphone and tipped his hat before moving back to stand beside his bass. She glanced out at the audience, smatterings of applause meeting her in any direction she shifted her gaze.
She recognized a few faces, regulars of this particular club. Others were new. She noticed the soldier she had used as a mirror holder, and the soldier she had stolen the drink from. She had seen him a few times before, and who could forget those eyes? She also recognized a few other faces, a man with whom she had slept with once or twice because he said he drove fast, and she liked feeling alive. A girl who she had saved from a creep, and a few simply damn good swing dancers who made their impression on the singer. The new ones were always the most interesting, though, because she tried to guess who she would see next week, and who, on the off chance, would tip her for her singing.
“Well, aren’t you all just a sweet crowd,” she hummed into the microphone, shooting a dazzling smile at the audience as she adjusted it to her height, garnering her some whistles and shouts of the positive sort, making her smile internally to match the one playing on her lips. Good crowd tonight. “I believe our lovely Sammy over there did a mighty fine job of introducing me, so I might as well go ahead and start singing,” she let out a peal of laughter that was as enthralling as the notes that slid past her cherry lips as she sang. She had one hand on the mic stand, the other delicately placed on the mic itself as she started her first song of the night, a fast jazzy crowd-pleaser about a little bit of love on a hot summer night in Hollywood. She moved her hips as she sang, a smirk or a grin adorning her lips throughout the entirety of her set. She loved watching the crowd dance as she sang, though she couldn’t help the way her eyes strayed to where a specific soldier was dancing with a beautiful girl, though his eyes weren’t on his date. Every single time Y/N unwittingly allowed her gaze to drift to that section of the floor, his eyes were on hers as she moved her hips and sang her pretty little heart out in that sultry, swing voice of hers. Through every song, the slow and the fast, she met his eyes at least once. At one point, during her third or fourth song, he went to the bar and perched himself next to a skinny blonde boy, but never took his eyes off of the woman commanding the attention of the room from the small stage.
Y/N finished her set after her second extra song, pushing the time limit that Louis had set for her, laughter bubbling past her lips as she caught a rose thrown from somewhere in the crowd. She quirked an eyebrow and grinned, facetiously placing it between her teeth and turning to Sammy with an exaggerated curtsy, who without hesitation swung the woman around in just enough dance to give the audience a good laugh.
“I thank you all kindly, you’ve been more than darling. Now, back to the band!” Y/N called out into the microphone before winking at the crowd and descending the few steps to the floor level. As per usual, there were a few people at the base of the stairs telling her she did well, and a few bold men doing their best to take her home with them tonight. She graciously accepted the praise, kissing a few cheeks and reminding everyone she’d be here next week as well. And as soon as she could, she slipped back to the bar, weaving between dancing couples until she was leaning against the hardwood.
“Hey baby, give me something strong,” she called to the bartender, who flashed her a smile and nodded, reaching for the bourbon as he responded.
“Amazing as always, y/n!”
He was just handing her the glass, the cool surface barely skimming her fingertips before it was stolen out of her hand and downed by none other than the soldier she had stolen a drink from at the beginning of the night. She couldn’t help the abrupt laugh that escaped her throat, an eyebrow raised as she raised a hand at the bartender for another drink .
“I suppose we’re even now, aren’t we soldier?”
“I suppose we are, doll,” he said sweetly and leaned against the bar beside her, a crooked smile on his lips. She took a moment to study his face. He was handsome, sure, but it was the easy nature of his smile and the light of life in his stormy ocean eyes that drew her in. He had his hat sitting cocked on his head, and the way his uniform fit perfectly across his broad shoulders made something flutter in her lower stomach. She grabbed her drink from the bartender with a grin of thanks and took a small sip as she examined the man in front of her.
“What did you think of the show…?” She trailed off, opening the door for him to offer his name.
“Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes, ma’am,” he shot her another smirk, tipping his hat, “at your service. I think I truly did see one of the most beautiful, best singin’ dames in this country,” James said. There was a light blush threatening to creep up Y/N’s cheeks, but she tilted her chin down for a moment to attempt to keep it at bay. She fluttered her eyelashes a bit, pulling her painted lower lip between her teeth. She hummed thoughtfully for only a few moments before her fingertips were seizing the rim of her glass, and she was downing her entire drink, setting the glass back on the table. James was looking at her with an open expression of amusement and curiosity, and she felt the corners of her lips curling into a genuine smile subconsciously.
“I think you want to ask me to dance, Sergeant,” Y/N stated, her eyebrow raised and mirth dancing in her eyes. James Buchanan Barnes mirrored her expression, nodding after a millisecond of thought with a chuckle and offering his hand.
“Well then, doll, it would be my pleasure if you accompanied me in a dance,” James said. Y/N didn’t respond with words, only settling her hand in the larger, rougher one of James Barnes, allowing him to pull her into the center of the dance floor. He swung her around for more than just one dance, spinning her from left to right and lifting her off the floor into his arms, and then back to the ground to twirl some more. He left her breathless, both from the dancing and his charm. It was as if the expression of joy was glued to y/n’s face, laughter spilling past her lips with each dip and turn. James Buchanan Barnes knew how to dance. Y/N was no stranger to dancing with, well, strangers, but she had never felt so at ease with anyone else. James had an aura to him, a warmth that radiated and filled her chest with more than a few butterflies.
Soon enough, the boys on stage slowed the pace to a smoother, crooning song, and Y/N found herself pressed close to James’ chest. His cologne clouded any sort of thought in her mind, and she couldn’t help but reach up with a delicate hand to rest on his clean shaven jaw. His hand that wasn’t preoccupied on her waist mirrored her touch, sliding up her shoulder to cup the back of her neck. Y/N felt her breath catch between her parted lips as James’ smirk melted into something sweeter, and an irresistible magnetic pull drew their lips together. The moment their lips met, what began as a sweet, soft, first kiss dissolved into one with more heat, more want, more everything and it felt as if every nerve that ran through Y/N’s body had gained a static charge. The noise of the band and the din of the people surrounding the pair dimmed in comparison to the blood rushing through Y/N’s ears, and she went as long as her singer lungs would allow before the burning need for oxygen forced her to pull away from the sergeant's lips. His chest was rising and falling rapidly, and he had a boyish grin on his lips when he caught her gaze.
“You wanna get out of here, sweetheart?” James murmured, his voice only audible to her. She nodded, a clever smirk back on her red lips as she looked up at the soldier through her eyelashes.
“C’mon, let’s go to my place,” she said. And they went, James waving to his friend that Y/N had seen him sitting with earlier, and Y/N stopping for a moment to collect her tips from the night. Once outside of the club, James had Y/N pressed against the wall outside of the club for another kiss, his lips cascading down the column of her throat and causing a whine or two to escape Y/N. She interrupted him when a cab finally paid attention to her halfhearted hailing, and she lightly shoved at James’ chest to get his attention and get him into the car before the impatient driver left without them. Y/N managed to give the cabbie her address, a small apartment above a family owned grocery store, before James’ insatiable lips were back on hers.
The pair shared countless kisses in the back of the car, their hands becoming more daring with each minute of the short ride. It wasn’t long before the car stopped and the annoyed cabbie grumbled something or another at the couple, so she tossed a bit of cash over the seat to the driver and grabbed James’ hand, pulling him up the stairs and fumbling with the lock, giggling when James kissed her neck impatiently from behind her. When she finally got the old door open and had taken only a step inside her apartment, James closed the door with his foot and had his hands on her waist as if they belonged nowhere else. He had her spun around and pressed to the door before she even got a chance to catch her breath, and he took a moment to appreciate the dazed look in her eyes. Y/N was less than patient, however, and reached up to tug his face down to hers. She swallowed his chuckles with open mouthed kisses, and his hands roamed the expanse of her back and waist. Her hands fingertips tugged at the ends of the short hair at the nape of his next, and he let out a low, deep groan and moved his lips to the beautiful woman’s neck, then her collarbone, and she responded eagerly, a needy whimper sounding as pretty as her singing graced James’ ears. The soldier groaned lowly at the beautiful noise, and before she knew it, his hands moved again. They were beneath the plush of her thighs, lifting her up. She quickly wrapped her legs around his waist with a quiet giggle, a sweet little noise that had James grinning. He turned and with only a few strides, her apartment was quite small, she was on the bed as he hovered over top of her, running his fingers through her beautiful hair. His dog tags slipped from where they were tucked into his collar, and Y/N had to fight the urge to grab them with her teeth and tug his face right back down to hers. Everything about her was beautiful, and he hungrily took in every detail of her features with ravenous eyes. Her lips were swollen and her lipstick was a bit smeared, her hair slightly tousled. He had left a couple hickies on her neck, and he failed to suppress a grin at the sight. She didn’t fail to notice his beauty, either, and she sent him an alluring smile fit for a vixen.
“I suggest,” Y/N began, one of her hands ghosting up the sergeant's front, “you start taking my clothes off now, Sarge,” she murmured in her breathy, nothing short of sexy voice that had James’s blood flow change direction. He groaned and seized forward to steal another kiss from her before pulling back and tugging lightly at the strap of her dress.
“Yes, ma’am,” his deep voice rattled her to her core, and she grinned. There was a flurry of clothing hitting the floor in a haphazard pile, and Y/N had a fleeting thought that she had never been happier that she didn’t have neighbors.
Y/N woke to golden sunlight dancing across her eyelids and warming the bare skin of her back, a heavy arm draped across her waist tickled her side as fingertips traced invisible shapes onto her skin. She forced her eyelids apart despite the lull of peace in the quiet morning drawing her back to sleep, the corners of her lips tilting into a blissful, surprised smile when she met the gaze of the man sharing her bed.
“Well, Sergeant, didn’t quite expect you to stay the night,” she murmured sleepily, leaning up slightly to press a kiss to James’s lips. It wasn’t something she did often, allowing men to stay the night, let alone greeting them in the morning. He was just different. He sent the dame a grin, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, the gentle motion sending a shiver up her spine. This wasn’t very common for him either, staying the night and into the morning. She was just different.
“What, and leave the most beautiful dame in Brooklyn to wake up alone?” James hummed, shaking his head with a soft smile.
“What a gentleman,” Y/N teased with a laugh, propping her head up with her hand, meeting James’s captivating gaze. She tugged the sheet up slightly, allowing her a bit more modesty under his thoughtful eyes. He was staring at her as if he was a man with a million questions, and she held the secrets to the universe. It was a good few beats of silence before he spoke, his fingers never ceasing their sweeping motions on her waist as he contemplated his words.
“You know, doll, I’ve still got a week before I ship out, and I want to get to know you better, if that’s alright with you,” he stated, and Y/N could’ve sworn she saw the tips of his ears turn a Typically, on the off chance she allowed a man to stay overnight in her bed, the second they began to imply that they wanted to see her again, she cut them off with a sweet kiss and a push out the door. Instead, she silenced the little voice in her head, and she found herself pulling her lower lip between her teeth, barely concealing an elated smile.
“It’s more than alright with me. If we only have a week, I do believe we better make the most of our time together, then. Why don’t we start by going for breakfast, Sergeant Barnes?” She suggested, cursing the girlish butterflies in her stomach. He let out a laugh, almost sounding relieved, and James Buchanan Barnes found himself nodding his head and cupping her cheek with one of his hands, tracing the outline of her lips with his thumb.
“I think that’s a fine idea, sweetheart. And you can call me Bucky.”
A/N I'm so happy to be writing again, even this is just an updated, edited version of one of my favorite fics from my old blog!!
