Again, the first chapter will be out in November at the earliest. It really depends on what I can get done between now and then.

I set out to do the NovWritingChallenge every day of this month on Bluesky (they let you do editing/revisions for it as well! I've spent ages wishing I had the energy and time to revise my novel). For years, I'd been looking forwards to having the time to do NaNoWriMo, I did have the time this year, and then got deeply disaffected with the organization, but this was honestly better for where I'm at anyway.

I spent hours editing and re-writing and figuring out continuity breaks in ways that could make them more coherent and horrifying. At least, I did every day for the first four days.

Then the election happened, and I've been composed enough but couldn't will myself to touch anything creative at all. I've been trying to persuade myself it's still worth doing, etc, and found it helpful to think about what inspired me in the first place, so I may end up making a few posts about that while I work myself up to revision again.

I just need to get it off my chest because I've been bothered by it since Saturday's race. I understand that protests like the one that happened during the slalom is hindering these athletes from doing their job and also has the potential to hurt their season tremendously, which is why the timing was definitely bad. But I 100% agree with Julian that violence and aggression against protestors is disgraceful and childish. The fact that Henrik's actions are celebrated by other skiers and fans is incredibly disappointing, and I'm really happy to see that most of the comments under his IG post are denouncing his behavior and calling him out on it. He and other athletes like him claim that they care too much about this sport to accept protestors, but I don't think they have realized that these protestors don't want to cancel the sport. They want to call on governments and FIS to do what is within their power to make the sport more sustainable for all children who, like Henrik's own son, should be allowed to have a future in a sport that, if nothing is done, is going to disappear in front of our eyes. And yes I'm just as much disappointed in Fede and Marco who apparently think that threatening people with violence is something that needs to be cheered for.

Gonna focus on Dr Wyvern a lot more than Bright, and Glacier. It's become clear to me that it'll be safer for others and myself if i put Jack Bright on this back burner for a while. All art I did of him will remain up.

The keychains i still would like to do will still probably be made. i do not know if i'll include Bright or even Shaw at this stage anymore (let me know? if not it'll just a typical Glass, Kondraki, Clef, Iceberg, Gears, with now Rights, and probably Gerald run instead)

For the comic I want to do, while OC focused with minimal actual wiki-canon characters being a focused unless the plot called for their POV. I am still unsure. I originally intended for both Bright and Shaw to co-exist, Shaw's 963 (dubbed 963-4, him being -5, was a second attempt at cloning 963), but now I may have BOTH their appearances at least be very limited then what it already was.

Which, yeah SCPOC comic. Focuses mostly on original characters. That's the point in the first place. More updates abt that comic soon. i promise. writing and planning stage still.

Let this be known this do not support nor condone the actions AB/Michael Peters did, in fact I think he should be taken right off the census (if it isn't clear already i'm very k word predators). I have never once supported the prick. I just liked the character the community and other wiki-writers wrote and crafted, that's the Jack Bright I know, the Jack Bright I support. I still think it's weird to go out of your way to bully or even send death threats to people (esp minors) who still find great comfort in the character, don't do that. Go outside.

And while the character does mean something to me still I'm going to hold off on posting about him for a long while. Wyvern, either as this sort of weird bandaid fix to fill a hole left by a fictional character that provided me comfort, and as mentioned Glacier will be my bread and butter for SCP related content: If not there's also my main SCPOC, Spencer Kripke.

A few years ago, @incognitajones asked her followers to talk about our writing processes and inspirations for our latest projects, or favorite ones. Here's what I said on the blog I was using at the time:

My fantasy series has a straightforward origin story: I was eight, and my parents were playing Secret of Mana on our SNES. The Girl captured my imagination—she was grumpy and arrogant, and had immensely powerful elemental and healing abilities. She also had a dragon friend! And it was her boyfriend, rather than her, who was captured in the tower by the wicked witch. (As far as I recall, anyway.)

So I wrote down a story about a grown-up princess based on her for a book report, which my teacher didn’t like. In fairness, it was supposed to be a book report, but still, the experience was very discouraging! Discouraging or not, though, I kept plugging away at it, expanding and overhauling the story as I got older and older (and older, and older …).

There have been a lot of other influences since then, and the series is now drastically different from pretty much all the versions I wrote prior to my mid-twenties. Nevertheless, the character inspired by The Girl is still one of the main protagonists, so the original influence lingers (and I put some really pretty covers of the Secret of Mana theme on my writing playlist, hah).

Oh, and the current version of the series has its own origin story. Well, current-ish; I’ve revised it a lot of times, but they all have the same shape, characters/storyline, and general material. In any case, I was taking a YA fiction writing class as a senior in college, and using it to work on this ongoing story, and I kept trying to come up with some functional beginning to it. I wrote a bunch of different beginnings that didn’t work quite right, but as I was walking out of class one day, an opening line just … manifested in my head.

It required a lot of overhauling to make the new beginning work (including a switch from third- to first-person narration), but I loved it so much that I was willing to rewrite long swaths of the story just to make that one line work. And while I can’t say what the line is, since I’m still using it, the premise and priorities it set up have guided pretty much every other part of the story I’ve written.

Disclaimer these are just a small sampling of some possible writer traits I’ve noticed either in myself or in fics I read. Also consider a rb for sample size !
