Creating a new digital artwork for my dear friend Lovemarie, this time depicting her as a mermaid, was a labour of love and inspiration. The idea came to me when I stumbled upon a beautiful figurine at my grandma's house—a stunning blonde mermaid with a pink fish tail, gracefully sitting on a crescent moon surrounded by starfish and shells. The moment I laid eyes on it, I knew I had found the perfect inspiration for Lovemarie's gift. The figurine's intricate details and delicate features captured the essence of Lovemarie's beauty and grace. As I began sketching the concept for the artwork, I envisioned her as a radiant mermaid, with flowing golden locks and a mesmerizing tail that mirrored the colours of the ocean. The final piece would be a testament to our friendship and a celebration of Lovemarie's enchanting spirit. 

Determined not to forget the image, I made sure to snap a photo of the figurine during my visit to my grandma's house. The enchanting beauty and elegance of the mermaid reminded me of Lovemarie, who possessed a similar grace and allure. It was as if fate had guided me to this figurine, intertwining Lovemarie's spirit with the artistry of the mermaid. As I held the photo in my hands, memories of our adventures together flooded my mind. Lovemarie's infectious laughter and unwavering support were captured in that single snapshot, forever immortalised alongside the mermaid's timeless beauty. The figurine became a symbol of our unbreakable bond, a constant reminder of the magic we shared in each other's lives. 

Drawing from the imagery of the figurine, I set out to recreate the magic and ethereal quality in my digital artwork. The night theme became the backdrop, with a velvety sky adorned with countless stars illuminating the scene. The crescent moon took centre stage, casting a soft glow upon Lovemarie, who transformed into the embodiment of the mermaid herself. Her flowing hair cascaded down her back, mimicking the graceful movement of the waves, while her shimmering tail sparkled with iridescent hues. The intricate details of her scales and the delicate expression on her face captured the essence of enchantment and wonder, bringing the figurine to life in a whole new way. 

Surrounding her were intricately placed starfishes and shells, evoking a sense of wonder and mystery. Each element was carefully positioned to accentuate Lovemarie's beauty and highlight her connection to the sea. As I brought the artwork to life, I poured my heart into every stroke and detail, striving to capture the essence of Lovemarie's spirit and the mesmerising allure of the mermaid figurine. The vibrant colors and delicate brushstrokes added depth and dimension to Lovemarie's flowing hair and shimmering tail, making her seem almost ethereal. The final result was a captivating masterpiece that truly embodied the magic of the ocean and the enchantment of Lovemarie herself. 

When I finally revealed the artwork to Lovemarie, her eyes sparkled with amazement and delight. She expressed that it was her most favourite artwork I had created for her thus far, a sentiment that filled me with joy and gratitude. Knowing that she cherished it so deeply, she even made it the wallpaper for her iPhone, a constant reminder of our bond and the beauty of art. As time went on, Lovemarie shared the artwork with her friends and followers on social media, garnering an overwhelming response of awe and admiration. The piece became a symbol of inspiration for many, resonating with its ability to evoke emotions and transport viewers to the depths of the ocean. It was a humbling experience to witness the impact my creation had on others, reaffirming the power of art to connect people and transcend boundaries. 

Inspired by this meaningful connection and Lovemarie's appreciation, I found myself envisioning a future project—a sculpted figurine version of the artwork. The idea of bringing this creation to life in a tangible form excited me. I imagined using plasticine clay or digital sculpting software to meticulously craft the details and capture the essence of Lovemarie as the mermaid on the crescent moon. I wanted to create a piece that would not only pay homage to Lovemarie's artwork but also serve as a physical representation of the emotional impact it had on me. As I delved deeper into my vision, I couldn't help but imagine the joy and awe that others would experience when they could hold and interact with this sculpted figurine. It would be a way for people to connect with Lovemarie's art on a more personal level, allowing them to feel the same sense of wonder 

Resin, to me, seemed like the ideal material for the figurine—a material that would preserve the delicate details and replicate the enchanting beauty of the original artwork. It became clear to me that two figurines would be created—one for Lovemarie, the muse behind the artwork, and one for myself, a symbol of our friendship and shared connection. The figurine would serve as a tangible representation of our bond and appreciation for each other's artistic journey. It would also serve as a reminder of the magical moments we've experienced together, capturing the essence of our friendship in a truly special way. 

As I embarked on this new artistic endeavour, I knew that it would be a labour of love—a physical representation of our bond and the impact Lovemarie had on my creative journey. It was a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries and capture the essence of cherished relationships. Creating this piece allowed me to express my gratitude for Lovemarie's influence and support, as well as showcase the growth and evolution of my own artistic expression. It was a way for me to honour our shared experiences and celebrate the beauty that can be found in the intersection of friendship and art. With each stroke of the sculpting tool or each digital manipulation, I would infuse the figurines with the love and admiration I held for Lovemarie. It would be a reminder of the mermaid's beauty, the magic of our friendship, and the everlasting joy that art brings to our lives.

Hey all! It’s been ages since I’ve posted to Instagram, but that’s not because of lack of shooting. I’ve been shooting like crazy, but just lost interest a bit posting to Instagram. This morning, I received nice message from my buddy Henry Coleman (@henryecoleman) who is always so positive and it made me log back into IG. 😄 . So here’s a recent natural light portrait taken right around the corner from my studio with Begum! She was fantastic to shoot with and booked a session for some updated headshots/portraits. Me? ❤️❤️❤️ *My husband convinced me that we needed a 3D printer, so I found a great deal on one, and now I'm obsessed! The eventual goal is to make the girls I draw become three dimensional... ❤❤❤ *I am really into clearance shopping and couponing, so I love the after-the-holidays 90% off sales at Target, Walgreens, etc. My favorite finds this year were .39 cent lip smackers, Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, and .30 Christmas themed wooden plaques that I will paint over. In the past, Target has had $100 furniture (that wasn't holiday themed) for $10 each, but they are getting smart about that and not discounting it with the holiday items anymore, sigh. ❤❤❤ *"Saturday Nights" by Khalid and "Into You" by Julia Michaels are on repeat play. And I will never not listen to "Rent" (original Broadway cast though, haha) and "Mr. Brightside," of course. I'm forever looking for new music, so comment below with your current repeat plays, please!! ❤️❤️❤️ *You know when you kinda neglect something and you feel real sad about it, but it's hard to get back into a good routine with it? That's me with social media lately. I've been really missing interacting with everyone on here, so I plan to get back in the habit of posting regularly again.
