Regarding Editing and Innovating in the space, 2 people who get a Fraction of the credit they deserve are Ivan Van Norman & Marisha Ray. I mean, they created and developed one of the original mixed media cinematic interactive actual plays, Sagas of Sundry: Dread, and then Sagas of Sundry: Madness, and Marisha (later hiring Ivan as well) has continued that trajectory in some of the more intriguingly edited mixed format Actual plays at CR, like Call of Cthulhu, Undeadwood, and others, and being Instrumental in the developments at CR. Like, when you do watch the interviews you get a sense of just how Much of CR's current content designs, ttrpg intentions, and series are marisha's brainchilds, and it sucks that she doesnt get the credit others involved in similar projects, and even those projects, do.

This is a great point. I've mentioned this before w/r/t the fandom - Marisha, perhaps more than anyone, gets reduced even by many fans to "she's pretty and her characters are like what if a girlboss were a girlfailure" and her creative direction goes unheralded. It feels like this has gotten worse in recent years; I was baffled at how many people seemingly resented Calamity or Candela for taking up space they felt should go only to the main campaign when those were not only showcases for Marisha as a performer but also clearly something in which she had a strong hand in designing. Whenever people whine about there only being two main campaign episodes in a month because of Candela Obscura, I do think "You realize this was probably Marisha's call?"

I was focused in my response much more on Daggerheart, and so on the game design side (quick side note - reviews of A Familiar Problem, which Marisha worked on, were pretty positive; I wonder if something's happened in the past 2 years since that's when I've really felt this Damn Critical Role energy among actual play journalists), but I had been thinking about Sagas of Sundry and Undeadwood! I think I mentioned Sagas of Sundry in one of my posts about how Kollok isn't, in my mind, impressive. I loved Dread but never finished Madness before Alpha folded, but actually I was imagining something like Madness - fully on a set, people walking around like it's a play - for Kollok! When I saw everyone at a table with that rotating rock I was like "is this...it?" And, you know, Sagas: Madness wasn't entirely for me, but you can't fault the innovation. Similarly, when I think about the (baffling) criticism from one of the prominent actual play journalists I've had in mind while writing this, that Candela Obscura the show did not fully teach people Candela Obscura the game, I think about how Ivan Van Norman did straight up teach Savage Worlds during Undeadwood. Whenever people gush over the shadow puppets in Burrow's End I think it's deserved, but when they claim it's utterly new? Nah. Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Crystal Palace did it first. And Marisha had a guiding hand in the creative direction of all of these.

I think this is sort of elaboration on one of my points in my original post: I think a lot of the journalists are really out of their depth. I don't remember seeing their names when I first started watching CR in 2018, or when I got deeper into the fandom in 2019. My first actual play was TAZ, which I binged in late 2017. I really think a lot of the journalists flat-out don't know Sagas of Sundry or Undeadwood because they didn't show up until after Alpha folded. I've mentioned this elsewhere but so much of the claims of novelty and innovation are completely incorrect and not even terribly obscure. Look, I've seen/listened to most or all of 9 actual plays (this is counting D20 and CR each as one single unit, by the way - I've seen all but scattered one-offs from either), and seen or heard an episode or two of many more. I think that simply by doing that? I know more than a lot of these journalists.

Again: Worlds Beyond Number? The innovation is with the Witch class and the Wizard of the Citadel subclasses, and the allowance of extremely long downtime, but: longform podcast actual play with sound design? RQG did it starting in 2015. Griffin McElroy and Emily Axford have been composing their own music since 2017 or 2018 for their respective shows, both of which are also longform podcast actual plays. Again, Brennan pretty explicitly said "I don't think D20 is new, nor longform" in a quote and the article that quotes him argues that Fantasy High is new and longform...and that article also talks about how before D20 most AP video was livestreamed before talking about how boundary-breaking D20 was for having a livestreamed second season (you know, the thing that they just called old hat a paragraph earlier) that quickly pivoted to remote (even though remote livestreaming was actually quite common in smaller productions well before the pandemic, since you don't need anything but laptop cameras to produce it). I don't even keep up with much in the really indie AP scene, but those people I know who do are even less impressed by the state of Actual Play journalism than I, because D20 executes a lot of things extremely well, has a very talented roster of performers, and a budget most productions cannot hope to match, but a good deal of what it's credited for inventing (and which, again, it never claims to have invented. I want to be clear that the journalists decided to be like this for no clear reason) already existed. And, by placing this heavy emphasis on production, they are automatically making it hard for indie productions to impress them. For all they claim to be going after the 700 lb gorilla, they are simply cozying up to the 600 lb gorilla. It's real "um, why don't you try this little indie game called Pathfinder" hours.

I am fairly sure a lot of the people in prominent journalistic positions in the actual play sphere today came in only after the collapse of Geek and Sundry, is my point, and so I think they literally do not realize how much the medium owes to, for example, Marisha Ray and Ivan Van Norman, because they weren't watching in 2016 nor even skipping through the G&S archives, as I did as a new CR fan. I think they're absolutely out of their depth, and most of them don't even realize it.

HI YES OF COURSE I AM FINALLY GONNA ANSWER THIS I AM SO, SO SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG, MY BRAIN JUICES HAVE NOT BEEN FLOWING & I HAVE BEEN MENTALLY STUCK IN ESSENTIALLY WHAT IS AN EXTREME LACK OF MOTIVATION ALONGSIDE COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

however, i will admit that this is AWFULLY barebones as what i have in my notes app besides this post is legitimately just a bunch of random comedic bits i've made regarding these two in a pupupu train context, mainly the "haha mk refuses to let susie transfer" bit

fair warning: this is a very metasusie coded answer so anyone who is uncomfortable by the ship, i really don't think this is your cup of tea ^^; sorry!

also here's cut so no one needs to read this freakishly long answer if they aren't interested

as of currently, i'm not really sure how the other units will work, but i do know that it will be based on the separate station masters of the real life collab:

kirby for tokyo

dedede for osaka

mk for nagoya

& with station masters comes units, & with units comes staff, which is where our favorite allies come into play:

in kirby's unit is magolor, who's only interest appears to be the fame it will bring him. despite being part of the most popular unit throughout japan, magolor wishes to be recognized, unhappy that he is simply regarded as another employee of japan's top unit, with kirby taking all of the press & fame

within dedede's unit is taranza, who finds trains to be a great solace after applying to the osaka train station as an internship during his stay at osaka university & since then has become a full time employee, working as the assistant station master. he appears to be romantically interested in a woman named sectonia who frequents the station. it's unknown how she feels about him though.

& in mk's unit...IS SUSIE, WHICH IS WHERE I'M GOING TO TAKE A HUGE DETOUR TO JUST TALK ABOUT (because i legitimately do not have this entire thing fleshed out despite it being over several months since this ask was sent in --again, i apologize.)

so, let's talk about susie! (best girlfailure 😍)

susie is an employee of the nagoya station, currently working as assistant station master. she's built her entire way up to her current position, initially working as a humble customer service worker to within several months the position she is currently after proving her worth through helping during dire situations at the station with her extensive knowledge in engineering

she got this job from taranza, an old high school friend of hers that she managed to keep in contact with. aware she was going to graduate from tokyo university soon & wanted to continue living there afterwards, he told her that job applications for all the train stations were opening up soon & recommended she start there in order to get some good experience or at least build a stronger resume for the future, even doing her the favor of recommending her specifically to kirby. although it didn't really seem to entirely work out unfortunately --good job on taranza for at least trying though, we all need a friend like him frfr 💯💯

unfortunately, even after climbing up the ranks, she's still somehow considered a nobody, often relegated as another typical staff member of the station. to add to her frustration, there's a frequent rumor regarding whether mk even has an assistant station master as he's known as "the lone station master" (DO YOU GET THE REFERENCE 👁️👁️) as the position of assistant station master was vacant for over a year until susie came along. they assume that whoever they are, they seem to rarely make an appearance (despite susie's near perfect attendance, even in comparison to mk himself)

well, now that i've mentioned mk, let's talk about him too:

unlike susie, mk is simply said: the literal face of the nagoya station. everyone knows about him & likes him--he's charming, he's eloquent, knows class, & although he can be overly elaborate at times, people like that about him --he's just a very DEMURE man in general (I WROTE THIS PART WHEN IT WAS STILL FUNNY PLEASE LAUGH 😭)

on the other hand, susie DOES NOT like him very much!!!!!! she finds him EXTREMELY annoying, a HUGE attention seeker, & VERY irrational

because of this, mk enjoys picking at susie as a pastime activity, especially over the fact that instead of getting a job for kirby's unit, she ended up working at mk's unit due to her father's address being in nagoya, the cause of it all

even though mk's a frequent dick to susie, he DOES see the effort she puts into her work &--even though he might not show it--greatly respects her as a result. after all, how did she get promoted to assistant station master? vul could've taken it as the longest standing senior member of the crew but mk chose susie instead

generally said, these two essentially have this rivalry on who can piss off the other most, evolving from "i hate you, i cannot stand you & i want you to know that all while NOT losing my job ^-^" to kaguya-sama: love is war type shit as they're both DEFINITELY into it & DEFINITELY into each other

small detour for those who haven't watched or heard of kaguya sama: love is war, it's a great romantic comedy anime/manga & i recommend watching/reading it if you ever find the time & you're into that kind of stuff, very cute & very funny

anyways, going back to susie, despite susie's attempts to piss off mk herself, unlike mk's more...elaborate ways of pissing her off, she typically has to go for the low blows which typically never works or if they do, he immediately gets back at her or if it really pisses him off, he will straight up pull the "i'm your boss." card which is a line susie wishes to never cross as long as she lives!

outside of mk, regarding her relationship with the rest of the nagoya station unit, she's relatively neutral as she doesn't really talk to any of them much outside of work, the only person breaking that rule being sailor dee, a junior staff member who she currently supervises with vul who, as stated previously, is a senior staff member. she enjoys spoiling sailor dee a lot & views him a lot like a younger sibling. she finds his passion for engineering inspiring & she can see a lot of herself in him

however, she does know others outside of her unit, such as magolor, who she met through taranza. as an interesting tidbit, out of the three, magolor is the youngest (& shortest), being 20 as he went to study abroad & graduated early before returning back to japan. taranza meanwhile is the oldest (& tallest) of the three, being 23. susie meanwhile is 21. (for anyone curious about mk's age, he's 24 in this au, which would mean susie & mk have a 3 year age gap)

mk really doesn't like magolor & doesn't want susie to be in a 10m radius of him, & although he doesn't know much about taranza's relationship with susie, he still doesn't want to take any chances

in terms of mk's own relationships, besides the wave 3 trio, he's basically buddy buddy with the rest of the nagoya station unit, absolutely adoring them. in terms of the other two station masters, he's best buds with dedede & views kirby as a younger brother, similar to how susie views sailor dee

going back to susie once again, although she does enjoy her job, she does wish she could maybe transfer to other units because they include closer friends such as magolor & taranza. however, whenever she looks for the transfer applications, they never seem to be there despite mk's claims of restocking them every single day. furthermore, whenever she goes to print out one out instead, the file is also corrupted to a degree that even susie can't save.

even more suspiciously however, the one day mk forgets to hide the transfer applications & witnesses susie take one (he definitely had heart palpitations after witnessing her actually do it), he has never received the application back from her.

now...i've been waiting for this part for a really long time now as this has practically been in the back of my mind ever since i received this ask...THEIR BACKSTORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since susie's isn't all that interesting since she already gets tortured by mk, i'll start with hers first:

ever since she was born, susie has lived comfortably in nagoya, practically surrounded in wealth. however, this was all without her mother, who had shortly passed away after giving birth to her, thus the only parent she's ever had is her father. she's only heard snippets about her mother, but because she's never actually met her mother, she doesn't feel particularly close to nor all that curious about her

going into the logistics of her wealth: it is primarily old money, both of her parents--similar to her--born into wealth inherited from past generations. however, in spite of primarily consisting of old money, haltmann would eventually manage to hit it big through an ice cream machine & other similar appliances business he called the "Haltmann Works Company," thus the haltmann family would become a combination of both old & new money, so now…they've just gotten richer!!!!!!!!!!!! however, in terms of their ways & methodologies, they are VERY old money

despite the company's large success however, haltmann & susie would over time become much more distant: haltmann focusing on taking care of the company over his daughter & susie rarely ever able to see haltmann

however, as a still young & naive child, in order to feel some sort of closeness to her father again, susie would be inspired to share similar interests with her father, & would begin to secretly attempt to create inventions on her own

this would eventually cause her to get into a freak accident, leading her to retain a large scar on forehead hidden beneath her bangs & experience mild nerve damage on both arms that she would fortunately completely recover from after several months of physical therapy

however, at the moment, haltmann--fearful of what the press would say & the potential decrease in profits--would close her off from majority of the world, forcing her to keep her distance around others & a relatively low profile, even long after her recovery

that did not mean that he completely did not care for susie though, as during her slow recovery, haltmann would gift susie her mother's favorite silver pocket watch, "Star Dream," within it an old photo of him & her deceased mother carrying susie when she was around two months old.

unable to normally interact with others beyond the haltmann household now, susie would develop a large inferiority complex as she grew up, feeling the constant need to appear flawless & perfect. this would culminate into her often masking in many social situations, especially business related ones

regarding susie's school career, she lived her life going to the best private schools, receive perfect scores all across the board, took multiple extracurriculars --she was essentially your stereotypical perfect student

as stated previously, in high school, she would meet taranza, who was two years her senior & had similarly came from a wealthy background of old money. he would be the only person susie would ever consider a friend, her first real friend even (TARANZA SNATCHED THE TITLE FROM MK, WE LOVE A QUEEN LIKE THAT 💅💅💅)

however, despite being the supposed perfect student, susie was extremely emotionally stunted & very socially awkward, often keeping everyone at an arm's length & unwilling to let her walls down to anyone, not even taranza. she would get by through masking, using it as a defense mechanism--as if it were her against the world--& as a result, unintentionally isolating herself further.

after graduating high school, thanks to her extremely successful high school career, she would be immediately accepted into tokyo university, graduating with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

susie found tokyo university to be a breath of fresh air, a place where she felt she could just be: normal. she felt free during her time there, especially free from the constraints of her father. even though she still felt the need to keep up her prim & perfect persona--as the effects of her past basically already taken root deep into her identity--she nonetheless felt...free.

unfortunately, after graduating tokyo university, haltmann despite his success had been significantly dwindling in health, his health finally reaching a peak immediately after susie's graduation, falling into a crippled state

susie would be forced to go back to nagoya in order to take care of him & the haltmann household, frustratingly postponing her desires to pursue a life in tokyo but also causing her to feel an unreasonable sense of extreme guilt over the fact that she even wanted to abandon her responsibilities in nagoya to pursue her own aspirations in the first place (i specifically state "unreasonable" as it is not her fault for her father's poor health despite how she may feel, there is absolutely nothing wrong with pursuing your aspirations, even if they might be different from what is expected of you by parents & peers)

however, over time after being hired & continuing to work at the nagoya train station, she would eventually find her job to be a blessing in disguise as despite losing opportunities to pursue a life in tokyo, she would be able to reconnect with her father & finally let down her walls (THANKS TO MK), developing genuine relationships for the very first time (HER FIRST ONE BEING MK --lowkey i feel like this is how mk would act, just a huge egomaniac, but he does so as half joke, half who he really is)

as a semi un/fortunate little tease: susie will eventually move on from her job as assistant station master to fulfill the new aspirations she's found after working at the train station. the good news however, is by that time, she'll be in a romantic relationship with mk (MAYBE EVEN MARRIED WHO FUCKIN KNOWS!!!!!!!!!! (i don't)) & still live in nagoya…with him. :DDDDDDDDDD

however, unlike susie's backstory, mk's is much sadder...because he's mk & there seems to be a large consensus that the fandom must torture him in some way 👍👍👍 (ALLEGEDLY ALLEGEDLY ALLEGEDLY, IN FORTNITE, IN MINECRAFT):

mk came from a middle class family with the typical stay at home mother & breadwinner father, thus living a fairly decent life in nagoya

however, while mk was still in middle school, his family would suffer a horrific car accident that would only leave him as the only survivor of the tragedy

this would quickly worsen as immediately after his parents' funeral, he was siphoned of all of assets, including his own house & essentially abandoned by the rest of his family

this would cause mk to become bitter & resentful of others, & he would establish a negative outlook of the world

with no money or home to go to, he had to immediately drop out of school after completing his middle school education in order to find a job --being just barely eligible enough to apply for any sort of occupation

fortunately, he would eventually find work as a full time janitor at the nagoya train station

there, he would meet gk, the current station master at the time --though during the first few months, they did not know each other very well--gk barely aware of mk's existence--only aware that they humorously shared the same surname despite not being related

however, one day, due to extreme exhaustion from working overtime literally every day & obviously not in the right mindset as a high school dropout who essentially lost everything, mk would nearly fall in front of an upcoming train, gk being just there enough in the nick of time to save mk

from that point on, gk would learn more about mk, primarily using vul as his main source of information (as mk would only talk to him out of everyone else in the unit)

through this, he came to the decision that he would help mk out, acting as his guardian, especially after learning about his orphan status

as his new guardian, gk would send mk back to school. however this would not be an easy task as mk didn't want to lose his job due to school (fearful that gk might abandon him like the rest of his remaining family did as well as potentially siphon all his money). thus gk would compromise, changing mk's schedule to part time during the weekends as well as personally pushed to pay for mk's expenses until mk was financially stable enough to move out as mk could barely afford any sort of rent or even groceries--but most importantly of all--afford a normal life again.

in addition, after graduating high school, gk & the rest of the current nagoya unit of that time would pitch in to help mk go to a junior college where he would pursue a major in mechanical engineering & achieve an associate's degree

living with gk would really change mk's initial negative outlook of the world to something much more positive. he can attribute some of his current eccentricities from gk such as his charm & borderline irrationality/overly elaborate nature as well as enjoyment for picking at susie (as gk teased him A LOT, though in a much more lighthearted way than what mk does to susie)

once finished with his studies, mk would move out & quickly climb up the ranks until he became assistant station master himself & eventually the new nagoya station master after gk’s retirement (who was at that point in his mid 70s, my man just enjoys trains yk)

after becoming the new nagoya station master, gk would gift mk his old gold pocket watch called "Galactic Nova"

he would work as the new station master for a bit over a year before meeting susie

funny little tidbit about gk since we've practically reached the end:

gk likes to call susie "mk's girlfriend," even before they were in a relationship (HE CAN SMELL LOVE FROM 1000KM AWAY)

he initially did this as a joke, but when it became real, he switched it up to "mk's wife." idk what he's gonna call her when she actually does become mk's wife. maybe just susie.

furthermore, when he learned susie called mk "Yumeta," whenever he refers to their relationship, he calls mk "Yumeta-chan" to get under his skin, but normally, he calls mk "Meta-chan" --unironically. he really enjoys using the "chan" honorific for mk & when i think about it, probably everyone. (this is a big headcanon of mine that goes beyond just this au)

eh, he's a retired old man, he can do whatever he wants as long as it's not illegal

OC Inspiration Meme!

First of all, thanks @lynxfrost13 for the tag, because finally I have a reason to talk about the origins my characters, SPECIALLY Sasha and Powder. Because I can't talk about their inspirations without bringing up the fact that they're wildly different from their first iterations.

(Warning: lots of yapping, potentially long, Also, I added songs and animals because personally they're a bigger inspirartion for me than existing characters).

When I said Powder was a loser, I man a legitimate, actual certified girlfailure (current Powder at the very least is competent at her job), who kept her cool composture until she mets in the mines with this particular unnamed mynah and cries in her arms. That's it.

...ok she's still like that, but now she has more nuance, I think.

Like, she keeps up an cool and overconfident facade, it's quick to make bad choices, and being aloof when things go wrong (like Morganite from hnk and the song "Nothing Man"), but it comes from a place of worthlessnes and wanting to be useful for the others (Powder from Arcane, which YEAH I stole her name, NO the bangs are a coincidence that I'm just noticing I swear-).

She's like a dog, but those "scary dogs" that area actually quite playful or Police dogs that fail their training (I visualize her as a doberman with cropped ears but an long tail, to be specific), and most of her character can be summarized with the songs "Fighter" and "Two Time".

Sasha came to be because one day I asked to myself: "What if a MNHR unit was a total party animal and loved drinking?" And then I came up with this silly, but also very messed up story for her (which is why DRHDR is listed as an inspiration).

A Mynah got decomissioned, survived, and it's found by this pair of gestalts that have a shady bussiness selling metals and other usable stuff from scrapped/stolen goods. They go "HELL YEAH FREE MANPOWER!!" and kinda adopt her. Eventually she starts trusting them, opens up and develops the personality of a loud but well meaning teeneager with dark humor, who also does a bit of organ harvesting (because, well, "scrapped goods" also includes other decomissiones replikas...)

Nowadays she's waaay more chill (like, literally none of the previous characterization applies anymore) and her arc is more about grieving your past self in face of new discoveries that shatter your previous beliefs, as well as figuring out your identity with being "reborn" into someone new (Inspired by Phosphophyllite from hnk as well as the song "Still Feel" by Half Alive).

Bottom left is a double feature, both for the lyrics of "The Unknowing" (in a way that she tries to move on with her life, but she feels haunted by memories from her gestalt donor and the implications of such); as well as the cover art. She's pretty much like a cat, but those that are shy and hide behind furniture until strangers leave, so it takes time to gain their trust, similarly to how she keeps most people at arm's length.

Eva "Girlfailure" Tsukuna is not your average bimbo,she in fact a very smart and educated lady...well at least that's what she wants people to believe,she is walking confidently with her implants showing and act like a "femme fatal"...Hiding the fact she is (technically) a virgin with only one man in her all "fuck book",Tsukuna is all about "Showing and not doing" Yeah sure she admires the like of "Eternal Prime Minister" Celestia,but all her attempt were sold by misses, and she will never,ever fuck someone to succeed!

For how much she tries to act dominant in her couple and cold,she is absolutely emotionally dependent on Daimon and his massive....vocabulary, although they clash of ego sometimes let sparks flies,but they are united and in love nonetheless (at least on this point she is truly like her Idol Celestia).

Body wise,She is an hourglass figure of course,but all her assets are fake, before surgery she was as flat as could be,she is hard working with it nonetheless exercising to make sure her waist and legs (who are her best natural assets) are in tiptop shape.

She is typically of the smart person whose bad luck and ego got the better of her.

So currently she’s nameless… honestly making them was kinda an impulse decision like their whole concept began because of a certain tiktok

Have you seen the TikTok’s about the Jing Yuan where the sparrow or wtv pecked his lip and people would go that bird is me? Well that bird is literally her ong/hj

What I have so far is that she used to be a merchant so she is well aquatinted with the Xianzhou, but after some events (still plotting that out) she became an assistance of sorts to Jing Yuan. She works as a Intelligence and surveillance unit in a sense. Because she can literally morph into different birds, so they are a great spy in a sense LMAO

Uhm, she craves emotional and physical intimacy but commitment is #scary to them- it doesn’t help that they literally can gain a crush out of no where. However she’s pretty good at disguising when she has a more romantic attraction towards someone. It’s more difficult for them to keep even super close platonic relationships because (the commitment) however they’ve gotten better throughout the years and are happy with the friends they made

Her path is the hunt, and her element is imaginary. Weapon is still being drafted but I’m leaning towards something like a whip, and she when she’s in a bird form, she wears metal claws hooked on her talons (idk if you’ve seen the movie but it’s sorta like the owls from Gaurdians of Ga’hoole)

According to the ASOIAF wiki, AWOIAF, only two people defected from the Greens to the Blacks: Lord Humfrey Bracken and Ser Luthor Largent.

Meanwhile, about fifteen people defected from the Blacks, one of them obviously being mister Lord Corlys Velaryon himself.

Like, say what you will about the Greens, but arguably their strongest trait was their loyalty to one another. The show tries to make it that the Blacks are all a united front and the Greens are divined and fighting amongst themselves, when in the book, it was the other way around.

Similarly to how the show portrays Rhaenyra as a girlboss and Alicent, and even Aegon, as a girlfailure/boyfailure, when again, the books has it be the other way around.

Not once did I get the impression that the Blacks were ever a happy family. Like, the Greens aren’t exactly the healthiest family ever, but they still felt like a unit.

Also team Black actors share the same misconception and misunderstanding that many team black fans do that there is no love or loyalty within Team Green, when most of Rhaenyra’s team abandoned her in the end and they don’t even like and trust one another as it is currently. They aren’t supporting Rhaenyra because they believe in her. Theyre all supporting her because the position they’re in, there is no other choice or they personally want something- Daemon to be King, for his blood to eventually sit the Iron throne. Corlys, very much the same reason. He wants his name attached to a King. Rhaenys while throwing this accusation at Alicent, follows her husband’s lead far more than Alicent followed Viserys. Plus their Granddaughters are Daemon’s daughters and are now betrothed to Rhaenyra’s sons. They weren’t even betrothed because Rhaenyra considered them great candidates for her sons, but because she needs to use their legitimacy to bolster her own sons. She tried it with Helaena. Not to mention, Rhaena has lost her claim to Driftmark with the death of Luke, the deal with Rhaenys/Corlys was so weak and fickle that it broke within 3-4 days. Corlys distrusts and resents Rhaenyra more after Rhaenys dies fighting for her. Rhaenyra eventually calls for the heads of her most innocent and loyal supporters and one by one they abandon her too.

While team Green, despite their dysfunction were loyal to each other to the very end. Everything that Alicent has done since she was a teenager has been out of fear for and for the safety of her children. She is their only parent, their only source of attention, affection and discipline. She tells Aegon that he’s no son of hers, then 48 hours later- as futile as it is, she stands in front of a Dragon to protect him, he tries to pull her back with him and she removes his hand to push him further behind her but then there’s an understanding that they’re going to die together. Aegon doesn’t want it but he takes the throne anyway because he understands that his rulership will be the only thing that protects the people he loves. In the trailer you can see that the murder of Jaehaerys not only destroys Helaena but Alicent too. It also forces Aegon to mature, take more of a leadership role and actually fight to show that he’s “as fearsome as any of them”. Aemond talks shit about Aemond and wishes he was the firstborn son but ultimately he fights for Aegon until his dying day. Alicole are meant to contrast Daemyra with many seeing Daemyra as superior but Daemon has put his hands on Rhaenyra. Grows angry and resentful of her, takes a new little girl as lover, abandons Rhaenyra and doesn’t answer her call to be beside her when she needs him the most. While Criston is killed trying to make his way back to Kingslanding to save Alicent and Helaena. Daeron also dies trying to make his way back to KL to liberate his mother and sister. Otto isn’t shit, but even after being removed as hand, he stays loyal to Aegon. Aegon wanted to build giant statues of his brothers in their memory. He has it written into Law that Alicent and Helaena were the only Queens during the dance era, a law that still stands in Westeros and one Rhaenyra’s sons and other direct descendants didn’t bother to change. He marries his daughter to Aegon III to ensure that she’s Queen after he dies and she is known to history as Queen Jaehaera Targaryen even if it was brief.

If this isn’t love and loyalty, then I don’t know what is. There were no defectors on Team Green.

Even the commoners stayed loyal. Part of the reason they revolt against Rhaenyra and storm the Dragonpit is because of what happened to Helaena’s boys and Helaena herself and because of Brothel Queens even if it’s not clear whether it was a rumor or true. The people still loved Helaena and Alicent. While on Dragonstone, where Rhaenyra ruled for years. A broken and Dragonless (at first) Aegon goes and turns these people against Rhaenyra.

The phrase said by actress Raena about the fact that there is no love in the green family sounds quite comical. Because the character she plays received absolutely no love from, for example, Daemon. Yes, there were some scenes in the cut script where Daemon hugged his daughters after Laena died, but we're looking at the final script and that wasn't there. In the same episode, Raena complains to her mom that Daemon doesn't pay attention to her because she doesn't have a dragon, and in the next episode, Daemon marries Rhaenyra shortly after Laena's funeral. And the children were clearly not happy (and tb stans, please don’t make me think that they were simply frozen then. Their faces really showed a lack of understanding of what was happening). And the actress calls it love? Seriously? Is there love in the black family? Show it to me.

Now I'll be interested to see how Corlys reacts to his wife's death and whether he will tell Rhaenyra that it was her fault. Just wondering. Or will he stick his tongue up his ass again and say nothing? Will support the black team for no reason simply BECAUSE?

(no hate towards the actors) but most of them say real nonsense, their arguments are like “tb are good, tg are evil, there’s no need to choose, our family loves each other and hates them.” This is so funny. Okay, let the tbs kiss their ass, this video was edited for them.
