Absolute girlboss Galadriel: You are a Ring-bearer, Frodo. To bear a Ring of Power is to be alone.
...
The very fearsome dark lord Sauron, 100% eavesdropping via the Ring: To be alone you say? 👀👀
So, uhhh, just out of curiosity, does that mean you're single now? Maybe open to dating old evil acquaintances other people? 👉👈
Hey, hey! Hey don't hang up! I was just asking! Now listen to me Galadriel - NO, DO NOT HANG UP!! ...Galadriel are you listening?!? Galadriel?

I'll say it, I would have far preferred Lord of The Rings if Frodo had just given Galadriel the Ring, because she implies it would make her the most powerful being in the world and I love that for her. Just imagine: The Witch King going on his whole "No man can kill me" spiel to get interrupted by Galadriel backhanding his helmet off his shoulders. Her riding out of the forest on an ent towards Isengard yelling "Yo Sauramon, what's this I hear about you imprisoning our boy Gandalf" and Sauramon just starts high pitch screaming. Sauron going "Fuck fuck fuck" as he watched one of his oldest enemies rampage across Middle-Earth using the mcguffin he stupidly chose to invest all his power in. And I know, I know, "She's be just as bad as Sauron, it would corrupt her, no one should have that much power" but frankly I don't care. Get it girl.

Top 5 Adar who FUCKS moments?
LMAO okay, just off the top of my head and in no particular order:
-the one that made us all collectively Lose Our Minds. i'm so glad i caught up with ROP just in time that this could be my first (maybe second) live episode and i could experience the mass Awakening™ that occurred because of this moment.
Tumblr media
-he likes to be held at knifepoint by girlbosses but he ALSO likes to choke out twinks. he has the range.
Tumblr media
-making halbrand put his head in the dirt at his feet to swear loyalty to him. he was fully suspecting halbrand was sauron at this point and STILL chose to humiliate him even further and piss him off even more AND be kinky about it in the process, just because he could.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-sitting atop his throne in the 1 moment of true contentment he got to have in between thousands of years of torment and then more shit immediately hitting the fan
Tumblr media
-screencaps don't do this one near enough justice, but when he fiiiiiinally enters the battlefield in 2x07 and just TANKS through everyone there (and catches an arrow in midair). he 👏 fucks 👏
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and honorable mentions to:
"[calmly puts out the flaming arrow galadriel shot at him with his hand] a star shines on the hour of our meeting, lady galadriel" like sir leave some rizz for the rest of us good god (in hindsight i think this was probably my Hot Adar Who Fucks awakening and my adariel shipping awakening, and then the knife-throat moment in the next episode just solidified it)
"why didn't you defeat sauron back then?" "because i hadn't yet met you" or whatever, once again, leave some rizz for the rest of us
channeling his inner mr. darcy by creating some period-drama-5-alarm-spice Hand Shots with galadriel
"you have the beauty of your foremother and if you've also inherited her wisdom then you'll know you can't defeat me in battle" just tell elrond you want him to be your pretty little sugar baby, it would be quicker
i will also add an s1 moment, when galadriel threatens to obliterate him and calls him an orc and puts a knife to his throat and he just looks at her and quietly corrects her "uruk" and almost smiles a little, homeboy was Ready to be on the receiving end of some knifeplay but alas sauron interrupted

Someone once told me that RoP is a better adaption than HoTD for the reason that HoTD relies on faux feminism whereas RoP doesn't...
Oh dear, have i got news for you.
Turning Galadriel into an annoying, "girlboss" warrior and completely taking away from what originally made her character powerful in the first place is NOT feminism. Having her be under Sauron's "evil spell" or whatever the fuck you idiots are calling it even tho she canonically was not effected by Sauron in the slightest is NOT feminism.
If you think that the writing of a feminist character is when a woman is disrespectful and rude for NO REASON then I think you need to re-evaluate your definition of feminism.

That girl boss guyladriel be like.
Amazon Guyladriel: Commander of Northern Army
Amazon Guyladriel: look I'm so good at my work that my (tiny) army mutinied on me.
-
Galadriel: distrusts Annatar (Sauron) since the very beginning
Guyladriel: I'm hunting down Sauron to kill him hurdur
Guyladriel: I found him but I won't attempt to kill him or tell him to anyone coz my pride is ouchy
-
Galadriel: Light of Two Trees is woven to her hair
Guyladriel: whoever thinks her (Galadriel) hair should look like hers (Guyladriel) should have remedial in reading comprehension or something. That first look from Variety and the other shots when her hair is dry doesn't look like it's one of the loveliest hair around.
Tolkien in the 30s: the elves have beautiful long hair regardless of gender even tho a man having long hair in the 30s would be seen as an egregious sign of gender noncomformity at best
Amazon rn: boy elves have short hair girl elves have long hair because this adaptation is about girlboss galadriel

Real quick can we talk about the fact that the PR team for Rings of Power was soooo fucking off. Like remember when we were told that Elrond was a politician? Y'know, before he yeeted himself off a cliff to disobey direct orders from his king. Oh oh oh and remember when Galadriel was supposed to be this girlboss in her kick ass take names era that we all kinda cringed at cause why? I mean she's still kicking orcs ass but she also is a living dumpster fire who inadvertently brought Sauron back, and just got yoinked off a horse by an og orc. I could go on...
Anyway I don't know what they were on but that PR stuff aged like milk.

I've been loving trop this season!! I am wondering how the whole SauronxGaladriel thing is going to play out though I'm nervous it won't be very satisfying with everything they've built up and all the marketing hype it's gotten. I'm worried they're baiting shippers to get more people to watch. Thoughts?
Oh boy, I have MANY thoughts!
I am absolutely DEVOURING this season, anon! The first episode in particular really blew me away. As a Saurondriel/Haladriel shipper, I thought all the direct parallels shown in Sauron and Galadriel’s journeys were PERFECT!
I was worried they were going to retcon Sauron’s genuine feelings of despair and questioning if he should “repent” or not due to the amount of hate and toxicity from the usual suspects on the internet. Instead they really leaned into it, and I loved seeing The Dark Lord having nightmares. It’s a side of him we’ve never seen explored before! And that Annatar reveal… holy moly! Celebrimbor and I were both like:
Tumblr media
Galadriel has been breaking my heart in each episode. Elrond and Gil-Galad need to give my girl a break! Morfydd Clark’s acting is stellar. She is so heartbroken over not recognizing Sauron for who he truly was and even worse… catching feelings for him! She’s really going through it and it hurts, but it’s also brilliant on the writers’ part.
Everyone else’s acting and stories are great too. Arondir was a favorite of mine last season and continues to be this season. Disa is FANTASTIC and I love her and Durin so much there aren’t any words to describe it. Isildur and Estrid are cute and I’m interested to see how their story plays out. I hardcore ship Elendil and Miriel, and his daughter needs to take a seat before she helps Pharazon destroy their home! I know the story, but MAN was it killing me to see how Eärien is contributing to its downfall in this show (in a good way… I think having her be involved with the opposite side of her father makes for great drama).
Tumblr media
As to the second part of your ask… I have been involved in many online fandoms for about 13 years now, and I gotta say that 98% of the time fans come up with way more interesting storylines than the creators of any show. A lot of the time they just don't deliver. I’ve been burned over and over again, so my bar is pretty low at this point.
They’ve done a fabulous job with the Saurondriel dynamic so far, and I’ve seen some really interesting fan theories about Galadriel briefly joining Sauron or being taken prisoner by him. As truly fascinating as that would be, I’m not holding my breath. I think it’ll be a rehash of season one’s ending with more violence since they have swords this time around. After that, I’m guessing they’ll focus on Sauron gaslighting, gatekeeping, and girlbossing his way to the throne of hell while Galadriel and company work together to stop him. They’ve hinted at Celeborn a bit, I’m sure we’ll see them reunited at some point.
I’m sorry if this isn’t very reassuring! I wish I could be more optimistic about Saurondriel in season 3, but I honestly don’t think Tolkien’s estate would go for Galadriel falling to the dark side in any capacity. Sauron taking her prisoner could happen, but I highly doubt it simply because as I said before, fans tend to have better ideas than a lot of creators in my opinion.
Tumblr media
I could be completely wrong! I have just learned not to trust creators to handle things the BEST way, but that doesn't mean it won't be handled in a GOOD way. Hopefully that makes sense, lol. I think some people will be satisfied and some people won't, just like every other story. The shippy photoshoots and marketing have been delightful! I can't tell if they're baiting until I see the last episode. I think they were just having fun, but some comments from cast and creators would definitely seem a bit baity if the payoff is underwhelming. We'll see!
I really hope the season goes out with a bang and we all have something to love about it; especially Saurondriel shippers!

Somewhere inside of me there is an essay about how people have come to cultishly embrace Rhaenyra (of hotd show version) as peak girlboss feminist rep when the show has simply Removed all of her choices good or bad: every action she has taken thus far is because she can't take any other, and that's when they bother to have her take actions. In another show I think that genuinely could have been an interesting to explore, but not in a show that's supposed to have her be hashtag modernpunkfeminist. And don't think I didn't notice that Rhaenyra continues to be played by a conventionally extremely attractive and thin actor when in the books after she has multiple kids she gains some weight and people are mad at her for not being the realm's delight anymore
...and THEN we have the puzzling backlash against Galadriel in trop, who can be slightly unpleasant, is violent first and questions later, makes mistakes because she's making and doing decisions, and everyone decides...that's not feminist and it's not true to tolkien's vision!
(Blatant lie about not being true to tolkien's vision; your pj trilogy brain rewrites are showing)
Anyway it's almost like women can't win unless their stories are changed so they not only make no wrong decisions but NO decisions at all AND remain conventionally attractive. Audiences want their women passive and hot I guess. News at 11.

Quick thoughts on The Rings Of Power Episode 2x06
- What of my heart?
- The aesthetic of Númenor has been outstanding this episode. Elendil facing the court? Reminded me of a painting of the Roman Empire. The camera panning in on the location of the sea trial and then later on Elendil facing the sea with the guards on either side of him? What. A. View. Amazing.
- Quick side note. Elendil didn’t bother to get up for his daughter but as soon as his Queen enters he gets to his feet. Nice detail. Also “if you still think this is about pride, we have nothing more to say.” Wow.
- With every episode I fall more and more in love with Disa. #girlboss energy
-Galadriel, my girl… that did not go well. If it’s any consolation, Adar already had all his troops in place, I doubt anything she said truly made a difference.
