I somehow got my mother to watch Epithet Erased. here's what she thinks of the (main) characters (plus M*rtin)

Left is first impression, right is after finishing the series Molly - "I think she has ASD." / "She's cute!" (she still thinks Molly has ASD) Giovanni - "He's an idiot..." (affectionate?) / "He's an idiot." (affectionate!) Martin - "I don't like him." / "He's stupid, worst father ever." (even my mother didn't like him from the get-go.. damn) Indus - "Is he stupid?" / "He's stupid." (answered her own question there) Mera - "She's interesting." (opinion didn't change) Sylvie - "He's... weird." (see above) Percy - "She's funny." / "She's funny, I like her." (she didn't have much to say about Percy) Ramsey - "He's weird..." / "He's the only sensible one here." (I think she's interested in his Epithet the most?) ROUND 3: Taako, Magnus and Merle VS Giovanni Potage

About Taako, Magnus, and Merle: A trio of adventurers, who's in-universe group name is Tres Horny Boys. Their antics come in both group ways; such as when they jumped down a well when none of them can levitate, and individual ways; such as when Taako brought and item that can be traded for someone's most valuable item and then sold it back to the same person for a Flaming Raging Poisoning Sword of Doom which he use as an accessory. When Magnus and Merle stole from a Bank while stopping an actual Bank Robbery, Taako threaten to rat them out to the officer outside. Merle chased someone into a quarry; which Magnus had just told him to not enter, to persuade them into following Pan via the Extreme Teen Bible, which he introduced with a song. When they group was blocked by a mass of vines, Merle flirted with the plant which caused it to be infatuated and grossed Magnus and Taako. Taako threaten his student for if he ever became more powerful then Taako, and he then brushed it off as him practicing for a play.

About Giovanni: An former captain of the Banzai Blasters that left to form his own villain group (which is currently made of other Ex-Banzai Blasters he used to lead) with a villain persona called Vincent Murder. He refers to his minions as "My Boys" which he uses gender-neutrally (but will stop if one of them said they don't want to be called that), he makes a grandiose entrance when breaking into the museum and gives every single on of his attacks descriptively-dramatic names such as "Lav-Acid", "Fog of Lost Souls", "Soup That is Too Hot", and "Teleports Behind You", he uses the "Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction" which is literally just a baseball bat with his mom's knife taped to it (with him technically stealing said knife).

Like that just doesn’t compute in their head.  Later, they pull you aside and asks you if you’ve been tricked, if it’s just so people think Giovanni has game, basically confirming with you that you and Giovanni are a thing. Passed away peacefully when you say it’s all true.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Moxie is also a protective one.  Makes a beeline to you when you’re alone and starts interrogating.

“Whaddya want with Giovanni!?”  The girl hisses with crossed arms.  You don’t know what you did to set her off…  “Ya better not hurt him!  Dude’s sensitive!” You shake your head, put off by her aggression.  “I don’t want to hurt him!  Promise!” Moxie squints, and does the ‘I’m watching you’ action before turning on her heel and rejoining the group.  You heave a sigh of relief.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You’d ask about Moxie later to Giovanni, and to your surprise, he seems to dance around the topic.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 It’s only later in your relationship does he admit to you this is his first time dating someone for real.  He relays a story that he got asked out to a high school dance just as a joke, and got ditched.  Moxie was the one to spend the night with him in their stuffy suit and dress their parents forced them into at some local gas station.  That’s why she’s so protective. 

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 He tells you that it’s probably the first time that he wondered if something is wrong with him, if he’s too focused on being his most authentic self that people just don’t like it – like him. 

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Promise the guy that you love him for who he is.  He’ll be devoted to you indelibly from then on.

“Y-Yo,” Giovanni nervously laughs as you embrace him gently after his story.  You hear him sniff, as if trying his hardest to look cool and unaffected by the past event.  “I’m over it now, y’know?  It’s been years.” You pull him closer to you and pet his hair, Giovanni almost melts.  “No.  No one should treat my favourite boy like that.” Giovanni honestly believes he fell in love all over again.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 It’s after that point that Giovanni truly feels like he’s loved, and you’re not just taking pity on him by being with him.  He knows you love him, and he knows he loves you too.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You and him are basically Molly’s surrogate parents.  Don’t be surprised if she accidentally refers to you with a parental title.  She’ll be mortified, but laugh it off and pet her head and she breathes a sigh of relief.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Call him Vonni.  Gio is the nickname his friends normally use for him, but Vonni just feels so much fuzzier in his insides.  Melts him every time.

The mugger shrunk back. W-what the hell was she supposed to do in a situation like this?! Her eyes darted over towards the two teens cowering next to the backpack. Desperately, she grabbed the sea urchin looking one and held him at knifepoint, he pantomimed in mute protest.

"St-stop right there!" She shouted. "Don't you care what happens to these two?!"

Giovanni's grin did not falter for a second, in fact, it had gotten wider. More gremlin esc, you could say. He flicked his arms, hiding them inside his sleeves. "You think a hostage can save your ass? HAH!" He barked. "Go 'head, don't need 'em alive to sell their stuff, best thing they can do is postpone the inevitable by a few seconds, then I'll have three more body's under my belt." He flicked his sleeves, several switchblades coming out from inside, dragging them across the alley walls, his foot steps driving into the mugger's head like a mysterious ticking noise

"Is five thousand dollars worth their lives? Is it worth yours? You gonna wake up with five thousand in your pocket after you watch two teenagers die in front of ya? Or ya gonna let yourself die? These are aaaaalll hypothetical, it don't matter to me! It's your choice 'Sides," Giovanni stopped, eyes gazing the mugger with a serious, shaded away expression, like in an anime. "I've killed for less."

Suddenly, Giovanni charged the mugger head on until she ran out of the alleyway, screaming her head off like she had just saw five horror movies all at once.

Giovanni stopped, waiting until dead silence was all that remained.

Once there was reassurance that she was fully gone, the two ex-hostages looked at their saviour.

Giovanni Potage had never been in a real fight in all seventeen years of his life.

Giovanni Potage started to laugh out of panic

"HOOOLY SMOKES!!! HAHAHAHA!!!" He spat quickly, hiding the knives in his sleeves while he gripped the wall. "That was SO SCARY! Hah! I may be laughing but on the inside I'm dying!"

Giovanni hadn't lied to the mugger fully about his background, his side of the family were a bunch of criminals, growing up learning how to scare, cheat, and lie his way through life. He tries his best to put all that behind him, though. If he had an Epithet, like his parents, he would use all these tricks all he wanted, but, he was a Mundie. So that means he has to lay low.

He desperately wheezed, hacking up whatever was in his throat. "Oh my god what a rush! I straight up thought we were all gonna croak! I know I kept my cool, but I swear If anyone touched me I would turn to dust."

Rick wrapped his arms around Giovanni, crying big stupid tears. "GIOVANNII!!!! MY SECOND BESTEST FRIEND!!! THANK YOU!!! YOU'VE SAVED US FROM THE MONEY HUNGRY WENCH!!!!!"

Giovanni awkwardly patted his back, then Lorelai was dragged into the hug, Rick nestling his head in the middle, tears falling onto the concreate.

"You too, Lorelai! I am so sorry the woman had drenched your work! But the best thing is that.... we are ALL HERE!!"

Ah, the beloved Neo Trio. Standing near each other, all three looked like Neapolitan ice cream, Lorelai and Rick's hair even made it so some of the ice-cream got into their section, authentic!

Giovanni Potage and Rick Shades, Lorelai's best friends, she cared about them more than anything else.

Now for RICK! Our beloved Rich little Sea Urchin! In the au, he's a Mundie, much like Giovanni. Being homeschooled most of his life, Rick never really got people, and people never really got him. He later finds two new BEST FRIENDS! Giovanni and Lorelai.

The good stuff:

"Hey.."

"Oh- eh- hello!" Rick waved awkwardly like a robot, as he started to sweat from the very thought of human interaction.

"Nice lookin' bag ya got there..."

The 'bag' she was referring to was Rick's murse, it was a cute little purple purse in the shape of a sea urchin. Rick had a... strange obsession with sea creatures, sea slugs, cephalopods, isopods, shrimps, crabs, you name it? He loved it. Sometimes he would tell random strangers facts only he thinks are cool.

"Thank you!" Rick held it up "It's a sea urchin! By the way, did you know that the sea urchin uses the hydraulic pressure of water moving in and out of their tube feet to move about slowly. They can also propel themselves along with their spines. That's pretty impressive, considering sea urchins don't actually have brains!" Rick info dumped, not picking up on the fact the woman clearly did not care.

"Look's expensive..."

"Oh indeed it was! I had to personally commission it!" Rick grinned, like a glitched character in a video game. The air got too thick with awkward silence to where he had to leave. "Well! Bye!" He quickly made a break for the exit, but the woman blocked her path.

"Who'd you get to commission it for ya? Might be lookin t'get one.."

"Oh! I paid that nice man at the Baxter's crafting store! No clue what his name was, but I'm sure he'd be happy to make it for you!" The bells in his head were not going off when they really should be

"Ooooooh Baxter's? Gee, I don't think I can afford it"

"Hm! Troubling!" Rick blinked, pulling out a book about Marine Biology from his murse. "Anyways, do you want to hear about 101 Ocean Wildlife Facts?"

Rick did not wait for an answer before flipping through it, clearing his throat, he read the first fact. "Number one! Many bony fish have more than just one set of nostrils. The nostrils of fish also do not open into the back of the mouth like those of mammals, and are not, therefore, for breathing. They lead into organs of smell, which are very sensitive in order for fish to detect the presence of food in the water at considerable distances. More nostrils = more smelling! Huh! Well isn't that neat?"

Rick, once again, did not wait for a reply from the woman. "Ahem, number two-"

The woman didn't think twice before trying to snatch the murse from Rick, making him grab for it with a whine. "Heyyy! That's mine!"

"Not for long!" The woman replied, tugging it. Rick shimmied his way out of her grasp, clutching the murse closely as he shoved the book back inside it.

"You bully! You could've broken it! I know just how to deal with you!" Rick declared, inching closer to the woman before embracing her. "You are only mean because of what society has done! I will be the first to break your mind away from these patterns of violence and thievery! I... forgive you!"

The woman swiftly snatched up the boy by his aquarium back pack, causing him to flail and wail.

"NOOOOOOOO!!! VHS TAPES!!!!! YOU LIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"

Just discovered this blog, my knowledge of regressors is limited but this has definitely been interesting.

Even though I’m a huge Lorelai fan I can’t help but feel bad for Molly haha!

I think it would be interesting to see a reverse where Molly is the regressor and Lorelai is the caretaker.

First - Thank you for being my first ask~! Unfortunately for me I have a hard time with that because I don't really view much agere traits in Molly while Lorelai is pretty much canonically a regressor in my opinion. I mean one of Lorelai's biggest motives in the book is that she wants her sister to play with her. I feel like it would be rather out of character for Lorelai to be the CG.

In fact i personally headcanon Molly as a Trauma Caregiver. Kinda the opposite of how Lorelai is a Trauma Regressor due to the way she's grown up she's more pron to naturally fall into a more caretaker role. However - Even though i can't see Lorelai being a CG, I also do have a concept that after Giovanni's Moms have Molly for a while they mange to take Lorelai in. And with them (And Giovanni) acting as the CGs - We could get cute Molly and Lorelai interaction were Lorelai takes on a more little sisterly role and Molly gets to take on a older sister in charge role.

Below is a dabble of a story with Little Lorelai and Molly being together.

Molly and Lorelai awkwardly stared at each other in silence. The Potages rarely left the two alone together; Giovanni because he often worried how Lorelai would treat Molly, and Lorelai had developed an interesting bond with one of Giovanni's mothers - Daisy, and she had a tendency to be Daisy's shadow. The two sisters also had their therapy days on opposite days and with the Potages she had a lot more free time to hang out with her friends. So, after about 2 months of Lorelai living with them, this was the first time the two of them were alone in the same room as each other.

Daisy had asked Molly to keep an eye on Lorelai because she was feeling smaller than normal when she had come back from therapy, but Giovanni was at baseball and Rhonda was still at work. So, annoyingly, Molly was back in the role of having to be the reasonable one for Lorelai. Her older sister has been regressing a lot more lately - according to her therapist and new foster parents, it's because Lorelai regresses when under stress or when she can't cope with certain things. Honestly, Molly didn't fully understand, but she did know that her older sister was always more immature than other people her own age - even before their mother died...

Lorelai felt awkward and wished she could summon a bubble to hide away in - she wasn't used to feeling this small around Molly, but Mama didn't like it when she was feeling under 6 for her to make bubbles cause she could get hurt. She fidgets with the amethyst bracelet. "Do you wanna play?" She asks quietly, remembering Molly’s preference.

Molly rolled her eyes "What did you have in mind?" the 12-almost-13 year old answers.

Lorelai lowered her eyes away from her little sister, who felt much bigger than her right now. "You pick?" She tilts her head. Therapy always wore her out and she had no ideas. She wanted someone else to take charge.

This shocks Molly because she's more used to Lorelai taking charge of games. Lorelai was a bit bossy when it came to pretend games and a sore loser when it came to other types of games. "Well, how old do you feel?" She had seen Daisy ask Lorelai this when the teenage girl became more passive like this.

With a small humm Lorelai stops fidgeting with her bracelet, thinking. She starts with 3 fingers but then lowers it to 2, then back to 3, unsure of the answer herself. "Duh fully know" she mumbles.

Molly gave Lorelai's back a pat "That's okay. Do you want to watch the Berenstain Bears and play with your blocks?" Molly suggested. She knew there were shows Lorelai liked more than the Berenstain Bears, but it was her own guilty pleasure. Lorelai doesn't seem to have an issue with this plan as she goes to her room and brings down her blocks.

"You pwomise if we watch Beaws... You'll play blocks wif me?" Lorelai slurs a little behind the pacifier she must have gotten from her bedroom.

Nodding, Molly puts on the Berenstain Bears, and sits down next to Lorelai on the ground and starts to build with Lorelai. While Lorelai became more and more focused on building block towers. Molly couldn't help but feel rather peaceful as the sound of the cartoon and Lorelai sucking on her pacifier fills this room as the two build. Of course they are! When Giovanni got kidnapped, Roughouse family were the first to join his moms in searching for him. And even after 7 years they still keep looking. They’re not yet aware that Gio now is really close to reunite with his family. Since Potage dissapeared when Trixie was 5 I can’t tell if she remembers him well after all these years. So it may take some time for her to recognize him.  As for Gio, he remembers her as well the rest of his family. These memories were one of things that helped him stay strong during captivity.

Epithet Erased au where Frederick is Lorelei and Blaine is Molly (because Freddy and Lorelei both use escapism and the other two are overworked, but the other way around could also work because Blaine has a similar holier than thou attitude to Lorelei and Frederick is the younger black-sheep sibling), Leland is Martin and Isolde is a mom figure that stayed alive, with Lance being the one that died in the fire. After the fire, Leland became super abusive to Isolde, so that's why he still gets to be a horrible parent, even with Isolde alive.
