Oh yeah, found out this character existed some days ago, Gilthor (link to the Wiki page)

He is a Quintesson made fusion of Optimus and Megatron (well they didn’t actually fuse the two, it’s more like they tried to combine their aspects to create Gilthor)

The Wiki says he’s just piloted by ghost Starscream, and seemingly he doesn’t have a personality of his own, but he does exist in some corner of the canon

But this was also notable to me because one day after watching g1 I was like “okay what if a megop kid exists by some third party trying to combine the aspects of both characters to create the ultimate leader or weapon? So like they are megop but no mechpreg was involved”, I think influenced by all my watching of the show, because I could see that happening in some way there. But now I learn that apparently, there’s already a character that fits this bill

So you know, keeping this guy for potential future reference

Also also, apparently there’s concept art where he doesn’t have the battle mask and it looks more like Megatron’s face, which in my opinion makes him look more like a mix, so I like it better

Also his name here was Convotron, being a fusion of the two names because he’s from Japanese media and Optimus there is called Convoy

To be honest I like Convotron better than Gilthor, even if a bit basic in name combination, because Gilthor to me doesn’t sound Transformer-y enough. Like that’s some other alien, not a Transformer. It’s the same problem I have with the name Ulchtar

Per Lunsford on deviantART: “As for why they're fighting, well Guiltor could be considered the first Nemisis Prime/Scourge type characters, except he isn't colored black. Similarly, Motormaster in his first few appearances was portrayed as Prime's rival, and he is a black truck. Anyway, Guiltor is commonly mistaken for Prime, as is the case here, so Motormaster attacks him cause well, he thinks it's Prime, who he also thinks is dead. This story is meant to take place after the events of the Manga Transformers 2010 #4, and the '86 Animated Movie. Honestly, I didn't intend to write a deep Mosaic. It's just meant to be a fun fight scene between two G1 characters that may have influenced the whole Nemesis Prime concept.” For the record, Motormaster and Gilthor almost definitely did not inspire Nemesis Prime in any way. On Seibertron, Lunsford specifically noted how Gilthor has lost his Decepticon faction symbol, whatever that's supposed to mean. This storyline’s titles are lifted from a classic paradox.

One of Prowl's children is Tarn?! TARN?!

No wonder everyone is confused and scared, and he's not even the middle child

Yep! I'm playing with the concept of Gilthor from Transformers 2010 and made Tarn in his role. The Quintessons create a mix of Optimus Prime and Megatron that is Tarn in this. It felt appropriate given his connection to Optimus and Megatron in IDW.

After the war with the Quintessons, Prowl speaks up to give Tarn a chance as he knows what it was like to be created for a certain purpose, and Tarn was still young. Tarn and Prowl interact during interogations post-war when Tarn refuses to speak to Optimus or Megatron.

Tarn has a lot of issues related to his creation and connection to the two leaders.

Tarn's whole storyline of being Prowl's mentee and finding himself in post-war Cybertron's rebuilding is central to Part IV. Yes, Tarn is the baby.

Modelled after Octavia (Helluva), Shadow Striker is a very dangerous individual whose allegiance is far above the Autobots and Decepticons. Something far more evil. She's a Terrorcon.

Carrying with her is her trusty Gilthor guitar-axe. Its weapon is so large and heavy she requires to unleash her hiddenly-stored energy to channel it to her Gilthor weapon, swinging it with devastating results. As her ultimate attack, she can fully unleash her powerful energy by hardly string her Gilthor for her massive Cursed Nova Wave that can crush every surface, disable transformers, and heavily damage any stronger opponents. No one could survive it.

She has her Alien Helicopter mode which can use her front end to fire energy blast to her enemies. She can store her Gilthor in her helicopter undercarriage.

(I dunno which of her face details is proper... Her name may or may not be Shadow Striker as her final name.)

I do actually really like the idea of rebuilding Jetfire into the Aerialbots (alongside whatever else they have lying around).

The thing is I don’t think it’s still been made clear if the Matrix in Skybound is a life giving relic like it was in Marvel (and to a lesser extent IDW). So I’m not sure if whatever they intend to do will revive him or make new life.

They could rebuild his body into a Sky Spy maybe?

Incidentally the jet armor in CV does somewhat look like Jetfire, though he was both still alive and used a tank as armor…

My rationale for the jet armor for Optimus in CV fanon is it served as an aerial drone, albeit not a very subtle one, for reconnaissance. It’s usually stored in his trailer, which due to a running gag I had in mind, is usually blown up once the jet is launched for Optimus to combine with it.

Still barring some third idea neither of us are thinking of, I think we’re sooner gonna see Optimus go Burn Bravern using Jetfire’s body, possibly evoking Gilthor since he already has Megatron’s arm.

Was there any universe where KSI was able to successfully create the Optimus Prime Duplicate they had invisioned? Furthermore, are there any universes where KSI achieved their goals without cybertronian interference?

In a universe where a slightly more sober Joshua Joyce kept a closer eye on Brains during his coerced contribution to the duplication process, he heeded the little bot’s warnings and was successfully able to digitally execute Megatron’s consciousness. Deciding to make use of the remaining data on Megatron’s weapon systems, Joyce incorporated a fusion of Optimus and Megatron elements to create Gilthor, who led the team of Stormbringer-class drones that included Nitro Zeus, Perun Maximus and Susanogre.

So on one hand, it does kind of suck that Elita isn’t allowed to have her pre-Elita name anymore with presumably the Disney copyright issues. Like it’s I assume why she can’t have her origin name in TF One and honestly I feel like she sticks out in that regard

But at the same time, I just have to say

Ariel is just a normal person name. Like that does not sound like a Transformer name to me, that could just be a human character’s name

Sure Orion is also a human name, but I feel like the full name being Orion Pax makes it slightly better? Like adding the Pax part as the second part of his name, it makes it not just sound like a human, at least to me. It’s flimsy but it’s something. And also Orion is the name of a constellation, so slightly more space-y

Ariel meanwhile is just a human name, no two ways about it

Hell, in her original design, she just kind of looks like a robot girl to me, rather than someone able to actually transform into a vehicle

And sure, you can change her spelling to Erial or Aerial to make it less human-like or give it a flight pun, but in the former it’s a bit weak, and in the latter case, while it’s nice and I like it, she isn’t known to turn into a flying vehicle other than her Power of the Primes toy, so it’s also a bit flimsy

I like the idea of Elita having a former self, giving her more parallels to Orion/Optimus, and I’d like to see more spins on this Ariel design, since I think Animated was really the only one to do so, but she’s also stuck with a very non-Transformer sounding name to me

It’s like when I hear there’s a bot called Minerva, though I’ve gotten more used to Ariel at this point. But also from what I can gather on the Wiki, the bot Minerva either is or is named after a human character called Minerva, so she’s got more of an explanation to have a human sounding name, even if that explanation doesn’t carry over continuities

Maybe she needs a new backstory-her name. Granted, I talk all this and I’m not sure what this new name should be. But I think she should have a new name, at least so that the character of Ariel can appear in some way again
