Begin Again 🍒
Chapter 2 —
Gigi leaves, then, and Jackie goes upstairs, reaches for her laptop, and writes a few thousand words that feel romantic and sweet and are definitely not about Gigi, directly, but if someone were to look for ties, they’d certainly find them.

hello fellow CAWD sufferer, stay strong <3 please may i have some thoughts, any thoughts, i like your thoughts x
My thoughts have marinated for months, but I still have CAWD. I'll give you some HCs on a certain trio I know you like.
Gigi and Nicky tag team Jackie whenever she's tired. It varies from something as innocent as doting on her, making sure she's had some good snacks and something to drink, to pampering her sexually whenever they're feeling rowdy. All kisses and soft touches, Jackie doesn't have to do a thing.
Nicky always brings home something nice whenever she's been to France. A taste of her old home, she says. While she loves living in the US, she does sometimes get homesick. Food usually helps.
Gigi is hot. All the time. Safe to say she isn't wearing a lot of clothes at home if she can help it.
Whenever Jackie is in cleaning mode you better not be nearby or you'll be drafted into the project. Everything needs to sparkle. Gigi rarely meets her standards. Nicky sometimes does.

Real Jealousy - Jasmine Kennedie x Gigi Goode
"Geege, bestie queen, can I ask you for a favor?" Bosco asks, scrolling on her phone, as Gigi did the same on the other couch. "Sure, what's up?" Gigi looks at her, and Bosco puts her phone away. "Do you, by any chance, have like a spot available for someone to work at the county?" "I think so. I'd still need to look over their CV and do the interview, but yeah there's a spot" Gigi shrugs. "Slay, okay, because it's for Daya's sister. She's moving here because apparently she was in a shittier town than this" "Damn that sucks. But text Daya and tell her there are two positions open. Receptionist and - " "She doesn't have any like law related qualifications" Bosco interrupts. "Then just receptionist is available" Gigi adjusts, but Bosco raises a brow. "But you always say you wish you could have an assistant. Could you make that happen if the receptionist thing doesn't work out?" "I'll see" Gigi mumbles, and the two go back to scrolling on their phones.
As soon as Theo and Aveyah jump from the couch and run towards the door, Jasmine pauses her game, following them with a smile. "You must love her more than me" she jokes at them, then the door knocks. Jasmine opens it to find Gigi crouching down, ready to pet the cats. "Hi kitties. And hi to the kitties' mom" Gigi smiles, look up Jasmine. "And hello to you sheriff. Do you need a hand?" Jasmine asks, gesturing to the bags on the ground. "Yes, please. But be careful, I got a bottle of wine" Gigi explains, looking towards the bag with only one item in it. "You got it babe. But I do expect you to come in sometime soon" "You're going to have to fight your cats on that".
True to Gigi's word, it was somewhat of a struggle to create space between her and the cats, but they at least managed to get Gigi inside the apartment. "Aww, babe, you didn't have to cook dinner and dessert. You said your schedule was hectic" "It's alright, these were just quick dishes... not that you, or our relationship, isn't worth the effort of more, I just - " "Gi, you're fine. I know" Jasmine giggles, kissing Gigi's cheek. She wouldn't admit, but she loved giving Gigi quick pecks whenever she got nervous. Her girlfriend was fucking cute. "So, what'd you make?" "Pumpkin and carrot soup, steak with grilled vegetables, and tiramisu" Gigi states, and Jasmine raises a brow with a smirk before Gigi could ramble. "Sounds amazing babe" "You're sure? I can - " "Very sure. I wanna eat before my cats eat you up... though I can't say I wouldn't do the same" Jasmine winks, smiling brightly at Gigi's blush. "I'll, uh, heat everything up I guess" Gigi stammers softly, and Jasmine tries not to giggle as Gigi just goes to the kitchen to get everything ready.
"Daya's sister? You mean Crystal? She's coming here?" "I guess so. I'm going to interview her for the receptionist position, but Bosco is suggesting hiring her as a personal assistant" Gigi explains, finishing her soup. "That would be great for you!" Jasmine exclaims but Gigi shrugs. "I don't know, I don't actually like the idea of having an assistant. It's also too much of a hassle to make it an official paid position" "And you can't unofficially open it? You deserve more than just a break babe" "I can't, but it's alright. We still need a receptionist anyways" Gigi explains, and Jasmine nods, wishing her girlfriend would get someone to help.
It took a week for Crystal to arrive, but she and Gigi were able to schedule an interview that ended up working out. "Great, so I'll see you on Monday at 8:00 am" "Yes, Jackie and I will be at the front to help get you settled in. Congratulations" "Oh my god, thank you so much!" Crystal hugs Gigi tightly before letting go. "Sorry, sorry, I - " "It's okay, just this once" Gigi offers a smile, then feels someone by her side. "Hi! Crystal, right?" "Yeah, and you're?" "Jasmine" Gigi answers, smiling at her girlfriend, not really attentive to the arm wrapped around her waist. "You're also coming to tonight's dinner?" "What dinner?" Jasmine asks, looking between Crystal and Gigi. "Oh, Bosco said Daya was going to make a group chat but I don't think she did yet. It's a dinner for Crystal's move" Gigi explains, and Jasmine smiles, squeezing a bit tighter. "That's great, I'll be there" "Awesome! Well, I'll see you tonight, bye!" Crystal cheerfully smiles, leaving them in Gigi's office. "What brings you here darling?" Gigi asks, but is then confused by Jasmine's glare. "I came to share lunch with you" Jasmine huffs, and Gigi chalks it up to work stress. "Thank you darling. If you prefer, I could meet you at the diner from now on, and we can share something sweet of your choosing" Gigi kisses Jasmine's hand, making her smile. "We should do that soon babe" Jasmine kisses her cheek, then leads them to the small canteen to share lunch.
"J-Jas, we have to be getting ready" Gigi expresses shyly, her back pressed to the shower wall. "Not my fault my girlfriend's sexy. Plus this is probably gonna take the same amount of time as if we showered separately" Jasmine starts kissing Gigi's neck. Gigi held onto Jasmine's shoulders with a hum before she started kissing her face. Jasmine immediately followed her lead, kissing her passionately. "Honey, a-as much as I really like this, I'm scared of slipping or something" Gigi chuckles nervously, and Jasmine gives an understanding hum before sucking a dark hickey by Gigi's collarbone. "There! You look absolutely scrumptious now" Jasmine giggles, Gigi's eyes wide. "We can get to washing now babe" "O-okay".
Gigi scrunches her nose, looking for a shirt that would easily cover the hickey. "Do you want to borrow concealer?" Jasmine asks, feeling slightly guilty. "No, it's fine. How visible do you think it'll be?" Gigi asks, turning around. It wasn't that the shirt didn't cover the hickey, it was just baggy enough that some movements would make it visible. "Honestly, not that much. The shirt is fine. But your pants are even better, god I love staring at your ass" "I'm facing you right now" Gigi tries not to stammer, but her face turns red. Jasmine just shrugs. "I was staring before you turned. My girlfriend's super hot, what do you expect?" Jasmine winks, and Gigi just smiled, blushing more. "Babe, you look fine, the hickey's fine" Jasmine walks over to her, hugs her by the waist, and gives her a quick kiss. "And you look absolutely amazing my love. Are we ready to go?" Gigi asks and Jasmine nods happily.
Jasmine just stared as Crystal hugged Gigi, then gets startled a bit when Crystal hugs her too. She forgot Daya mentioned that her sister is a hugger. It's fine. As everyone sat down, Jasmine kept her hand on top of Gigi's. Gigi gave her a warm smile, while Bosco tried to hold in a laugh. They got menus, and Crystal started asking about what the town was like. Jan and Bosco mostly answered, but Jackie and Gigi answered from time to time, seeing as they were going to be working closely with Crystal. Jasmine would just squeeze Gigi's hand a bit whenever she talked, although it didn't have the sweet intentions Gigi thought they did. "Jasmine? Where do you work?" Crystal asks, and Jasmine tries to not to seem taken off guard. "Oh, I work as a waitress, with Bosco at the diner" Jasmine gives a small smile, though it didn't look sincere. Crystal moves on when Daya starts talking about what fun things there were to do. Bosco just looks at Daya in amusement, who smiles back at her.
Once they finished dinner, they started discussing desserts. Jasmine wanted to share a panna cotta with Gigi, but Crystal suggested that they should order a few to go around. Jasmine was seething on the inside. Gigi excuses herself to the bathroom, and Jasmine takes the opportunity to follow her after a couple of minutes. "Hey" "Oh, hi darling. Are you enjoying yourself?" "Yeah... but I'd like to have you all to myself" Jasmine whispers by her neck. "I'd like that too actually" Gigi admits, slightly catching Jasmine off guard. "Really?" Jasmine questions. Gigi had seemed content throughout the night. "Of course, my love. I'd love nothing more than to be curled up in bed with you and the cats" Gigi smiles, kissing Jasmine's cheek. Jasmine smiled, hugging Gigi tightly. "I'd love that too babe" Jasmine gives Gigi a quick peck, then starts washing her hands. The two walk back to their table, and share dessert with everyone.
When Crystal started working, Gigi texted Jasmine about not being able to meet for lunch. Jasmine asked if she could still come to the station, and Gigi agreed. What Jasmine didn't realize was that meant spending lunch with Crystal as well. It was fine, whatever. Jasmine just didn't really like how Crystal would talk to Gigi more, or try to get closer to her. It was even worse that Gigi started working late again, something Jasmine had fought hard against after seeing how exhausted Gigi would get. One night, she found Gigi dozing off in her car while waiting for everyone to finish. She had to gently wake her up before everyone came out to make sure she could drive or if she wanted Jasmine to drive. "Geege, this isn't good for you" Jasmine says one night, as she and Gigi got ready for bed. "I always review new employees' work after hours. It's the only time I have" "Ask someone to help, like Jackie or Jaida" Jasmine huffs as Gigi gets under the sheets. "I'll see what I can do" Gigi compromises, hugging Jasmine closely. "I know being a sherif isn't the same as a regular office job. But literally nothing ever happens here, you don't need to overwork yourself so much" Jasmine expresses softly, and Gigi nods, eyes closing. "I promise I'll ask. Good night love" Gigi mumbles, and Jasmine kisses her forehead, turning off the lamp light.
Jasmine walked into the county, walking towards Gigi's office. She didn't expect to find Crystal and Gigi laughing, with Crystal standing uncomfortably close to Gigi. She knocks on the door, and Crystal moves away as Gigi opens the door for her. "Hey, is it lunch already?" "Yup. You ready?" "Yeah. Bye Crystal, I'll see you later" "Bye Gigi. Hi and bye Jasmine" Crystal smiles as Jasmine gives back a snarky smile, though Crystal was looking at Gigi.
"So. You and Crystal are getting close, huh?" "I guess. Makes work easier" Gigi explains, taking a bite from her salad. "Is she making other friends, or just you?" "She's hanging out with Jackie and Jaida mostly, sometimes Kameron. Why?" "No reason, just asking" Jasmine says cooly, but Gigi unexpectedly smiles. "What?" "I find it sweet that you like asking about that. Like you're interested in even the most mundane and boring things, because it's me. Your girlfriend.... that is if you actually are, obviously" Gigi blushes, and Jasmine's frustrations died with Gigi's sweet, yet oblivious, words. "Of course I am. I love you and I love knowing you" Jasmine holds Gigi's hand.
Bosco kept on looking over at Jasmine in the changing room, which slightly annoyed her. "Anything you wanna say, Bosco?" "You seem to be a huge fan of Crystal" "It's barely been a month. She's fine" "You're so jealous it's hilarious" Bosco chuckles, and it clicks in Jasmine's head. She's been feeling jealous all this time. "What makes you think that? They just work together" "You always look like you're gonna explode at the sight or mention of her" "I do not" Jasmine sounds a bit too defensive. Before Bosco can say anything, Jasmine's phone dings with a notification. 'Hi darling! I wanted to let you know that Crystal wanted to be closer to the stage, so we're sitting at a table. I can't wait to see you 💖' Jasmine felt like she was going to explode. "What is it?... Oh, have fun with that" Bosco laughs while Jasmine felt like her phone might break under her grip. "Have you at least told Gigi how you feel?" Bosco asks, finishing up her makeup. "No, because I'm not jealous. I have no reason to be" Jasmine responds, trying to sound convincing. She wasn't, but she had an idea.
After being introduced and dancing on stage a bit, Jasmine seductively crawled to the end, maintaining eye contact with Gigi. Then, she got up and sat on Gigi's lap, grinding with her arms around her neck, ignoring Crystal's shocked expression. Gigi froze, eyes widening in shock, her face red - though it wasn't visible under the dim lights of the club. Jasmine left a soft kiss by the space behind her ear before getting up back to the stage. Bosco and Daya laughed at her antics by a corner.
Gigi was quiet as Jasmine went on a tangent about her video games. When she pulled up by Jasmine's apartment, Jasmine just looked at her, confused. "Aren't you gonna park and come up?" "I - yeah, sorry. I just zoned out" Gigi explains, parking her car, but Jasmine feels like something is off.
Jasmine was looking over at Gigi, who was smiling at the cats walking up to her in bed. "You're upset" Jasmine states, voice quiet. "Hmm?" "You're upset about something" Jasmine sits up, sounding more sure. Gigi just takes a breath, looking at Jasmine like she was thinking about what to say. "It's nothing, just tired" "Genevieve. You can tell me, it's okay" Jasmine assures. "I - it's not something I want to make a big deal out of, especially so late at night" Gigi sighs, sitting up more, which makes the two cats sit across her lap over the blankets. "We're both awake, the time doesn't matter. If I did something that bothered you - was it the lap dance?" Jasmine asks, and Gigi looks at her. "Why?" Jasmine asks, and Gigi sighs. "I know, I understand it's your job, but... it felt awkward not knowing whether it would be more or less disrespectful to... give you money, as your girlfriend. And you did that in front of a new hire. It was just an awkward situation... and I'm not blaming you for anything, it's just a me thing that I have to fix, I guess" Gigi mumbles towards the end. "If it's upsetting, we can just forget about this and go to sleep. It's fine" Gigi pipes up before Jasmine can say anything. "No, I - I would much rather talk, regardless of how upset either of us feel. I'm sorry, I was just... why do you let Crystal flirt with you?" the question comes out before Jasmine can stop herself. "What? I-I do? Wait, she's flirted with me?" Gigi asks, looking at Jasmine like she grew a head. "I am sorry, I'll ask you before about lap dances and obviously don't give me money, you're my girlfriend. I just, ugh, Crystal has been getting too close with you and I didn't like it then Bosco said I was jealous and I realized I was jealous but I didn't know why and-" it's Gigi's turn to interrupt Jasmine's ramblings with a kiss. "Jasmine, darling, my love. I'm very much in love with you. I doubt Crystal has been flirting with me or has ulterior motives with me, but if she does it wouldn't matter. I'm only interested in you. I'll talk to her about it tomorrow if it helps" Gigi smiles, holding Jasmine's hand. "What if it makes work worse for you?" "Well, you keep on mentioning my PTO" Gigi shrugs, though a sly smirk forms on her face. "Okay" Jasmine giggles, scooting closer to Gigi's side.
"Crystal, I know you've just started and it's early in the morning but... have you been flirting with me? I-I need to know the truth, regardless of what it is so we can move forward appropriately" Gigi tries to sound confident, though her demeanor showed her nerves. "I mean, I thought Jasmine was just a friend up until last night. And I met Nicky, so" Crystal trails off, and Gigi furrows her brow. "So what?" "I-I did flirt a bit but I'm not interested anymore" "Okay, great. Sorry about this though" "It's fine" Crystal shrugs, and Gigi lets her go back to her desk.
Bosco just laughs while Jasmine looks at Gigi with her jaw dropped. "You actually - " "It was awkward, but you asked me to make sure!" Gigi exclaims. They were having lunch in the diner, and Gigi told Jasmine and Bosco of her conversation with Crystal. "That was fierce" Bosco chuckles as Jasmine covers her face. "Is it that bad Jas?" "I can't believe you asked her like that. I thought you were going to be more subtle!" "You gave me a lap dance in front of her!" Gigi tries to reason, both she and Jasmine smiling. "It's fine, it's okay, it's over" Jasmine tries to switch the conversation, but it's futile with Bosco's endless teasing.
Later that evening, when Theo and Aveyah finally gave Gigi some space - only because she got them tuna - Jasmine chose to seductively push Gigi onto her bed. "Sherif Goode" "Yes?" Gigi chuckles. "May I give you a lap dance? Free of charge" Jasmine winks with a smile, Gigi's eyes growing wide. "I - as you wish, Ms. Kennedie" Gigi smiles back as Jasmine kisses her.

You've Got a Shot, Though (Gigi x Jackie) - Strawberry & Cobblestaubrey
Summary: Gigi Goode, Jackie’s sworn enemy.
Okay. Not sworn enemy. She wasn’t sure if Gigi even knew who she was. However, that didn’t stop Jackie from feeling something when Gigi was around. She couldn’t exactly pinpoint it, but it must’ve been envy or jealousy. The blonde girl was rich, and beautiful, and Jackie felt drawn to her whenever she was around. Did she want to be Gigi Goode? That had to be it.
And it pissed her off.
Jackie runs for student council president. So why does Gigi freaking Goode have to, too?
A/N: Hi everyone!! Basically @cobblestaubrey and I wrote this together and posted it on AO3 and we decided to bring it over to AQ as well! It’s half serious and half crack fic if you’re into that, I hope you enjoy :)
“I’m just sick of people not taking me seriously. I mean, who cares about student council treasurer?” Jackie threw her hands in the air, continuing to pace around the emptying hallway.
Nicky furrowed her brows. “There’s a student council treasurer?”
“Yes! Me!”
Jackie had been treasurer since her freshman year of high school, yet no one seemed to know who she was. She had tried to put herself out there time and time again to no avail, and she was fed up with consistently failing at it.
Nicky at least had the decency to look sorry. “Oh… On purpose?”
“Yes, Nicky, thanks. A good friend you are.”
“Not what I meant!” Nicky held up her hands in defense. “I’m just wondering if you’re stuck there? Have you tried running for something else?”
Jackie had never thought about leaving her spot as treasurer. No one had ever tried to snatch it from her; it felt like she owned the position. Nicky was right, though, a change of pace could be what she needed. “I guess Vice President would be nice?”
“Mm. Not big enough,” Nicky responded almost immediately.
“But, the only other option is…”
Nicky smirked. “Exactly.”
“I can’t run for student council President!” She couldn’t believe what Nicky was suggesting. It would be a total long shot.
Shrugging, Nicky continued. “Why not? The position is open,” she leaned forward, nudging Jackie with her elbow. “We all know what happened to the last President.”
Jackie grimaced, remembering the fate of Dahlia, who had been President since freshman year. She had been popular and easily snagged the votes of every boy in the grade. The only problem was she had no idea how to be President and basically had faked it the entire time, until it all finally caught up to her. Her Vice President, Jaida, had ratted her out for fulfilling none of her presidential duties, and Dahlia had ‘stepped down’ before the student council could impeach her.
“Do you really think I could do it?” This would be a big decision; it would put Jackie way out of her comfort zone.
“Why wouldn’t you be able to? You’re smart, and you’ve - apparently - been in student council this whole time. You have the experience.”
Jackie couldn’t remember a time Nicky was so unabashedly supportive, but she couldn’t complain about being buttered up.
“I don’t know…”
Nicky pursed her lips, before speaking again. “How about this, I’ll be your advisor!” She could see Jackie was still not convinced, and continued on,  “I’ll tell you what to do, make sure you don’t make any of those stupid puns you like-”
“Stupid?”
“Yes, Jackie, they’re stupid, and no one’s gonna vote for you if you say them.”
Jackie sighed. “Okay, fine. I’ll think about it, alright?”
“I think it would be… good for you.”
That sounded weird. “O-kay…”
“Well, I’m about to be late for cheer,” Nicky started, turning on her heel, before looking back at Jackie, “but definitely think it over.”
The conversation was definitely odd, but Jackie was too preoccupied with thinking about all of the things she could get done, and the power she would have if she were President.
Dahlia had never listened to any of her ideas. Jackie had spent so much time calculating how to reallocate money from their failing sports teams to the underfunded arts department, but Dahlia was failing ninth grade algebra in junior year and didn’t know how money worked.
On her way out of the school, towards the parking lot, Jackie had kept her eyes on the floor, and nearly ran into a wall. Stumbling backwards, trying to catch her balance, she got a good look at what was on the wall.
Tumblr media
“No freaking way.”
Gigi Goode, Jackie’s sworn enemy.
Nicky did not have cheer practice that day. She wasn’t even wearing a cheerleading uniform - she wasn’t sure how Jackie missed that - but she was grateful for the brunette’s obliviousness.
Instead of going to the gym, Nicky headed down to the art wing, where Rock was. Walking inside one of the classrooms, she found Rock devouring a glue stick.
“What the fuck?”
“My mom didn’t pack me a snack and you took too long,” Rock spoke around the glue, continuing to munch on it as Nicky watched in horror.
“Well, I’m pretty sure I convinced Jackie to run.”
Rock’s eyes lit up, and she finally put the glue stick down, brushing her sticky hands on her pants. “Seriously?”
“It actually wasn’t that hard. Did you know she was treasurer?”
Rock sent her an exasperated look. “Yeah that’s the whole fucking point, Nicky, we talked about this.”
“I was a bit distracted,” Nicky smirked, giving Rock a once over, which made Rock roll her eyes.
“Slow down, Casanova, we have a different couple to get together first.”
Crossing her arms, Nicky raised an eyebrow. “How am I supposed to trust you when you eat glue sticks?”
“It was one time!”
“There are three empty glue sticks right there.”
Rock quickly shoved them off the desk, wincing as they clattered onto the floor. “No there aren’t. Anyway, you don’t have to trust me. Gigi Goode gets what she wants, and she wants Jackie.”
“Are you sure you two are even friends? How does this work?”
Rock scoffed. “I’ve known Gigi since she was in designer diapers. We go way back.”
“Suuuure.”
Rock rolled her eyes, and then got out of her seat. Walking over to the printer in the corner, she pulled out a large sheet of paper from the printer tray, and held it up for Nicky to see. “Now, come on, we have more of these posters to put up.”
Jackie had given in and signed up to run for President, and now she was sitting in the library, waiting for the first meeting. She had arrived twenty minutes before it was supposed to start, like she always had done.
A few students had taken residency in the chairs in front of her and behind her, but it wasn’t as many people as she originally thought. Her competition wasn’t too steep, either.
There was Jan, who had never won anything in her entire school career, and Scarlet, who was funny and personable, but couldn’t tell the difference between “President” and “precedent”. The others were no names who Jackie had never even seen in the library, and her confidence was on the rise.
Until Gigi Goode walked in, two minutes before the meeting started, and took a seat right next to Jackie.
Great. The last thing Jackie wanted was to have Gigi sit next to her.
Gigi sent her a soft smile, which Jackie pointedly ignored, crossing her arms and facing towards where the principal would begin speaking.
“So you’re running too?” Gigi asked, flashing her another smile.
“Uh, yeah. That’s why I’m here,” Jackie finally spoke to her, annoyed at Gigi’s ignorance.
Gigi looked firmly chastised, folding her hands in her lap and nodding. “Cool.”
Luckily for the blonde, the principal finally stood up to address the room, saving her from the awkward moment with Jackie.
“Alright, I assume you’re all here for the student council President position?”
Most everyone nodded at that, except for one student who got up and left.
The principal, after watching said student leave, turned back to the group. “Alrighty. Well, as you all know, being President means holding a lot of responsibility for not only yourself but your classmates and their time here…”
Jackie, having heard a similar speech before, began tuning the principal out, letting her eyes wander around the room.
Eventually, she was pulled out of her trance by Gigi, who elbowed her lightly. “Treasure her? I barely know her!”
Jackie flinched away from Gigi’s arm, sending the girl a glare. “What?”
“Treasurer, ‘treasure her’, get it?” Jackie stared blankly, causing Gigi to falter. “You’re the treasurer, right?”
“Yes.”
“Cool.”
Jackie couldn’t believe that Gigi was trying this hard to distract her. Shouldn’t Gigi be focusing on what the principal was saying, and not on Jackie?
She rolled her eyes. Gigi must’ve thought Jackie was real competition if she was willing to stoop so low. Jackie knew it was all a plan to get her in trouble, so she was trying her best to ignore all of the terrible puns Gigi was throwing at her.
By the end of the meeting, Gigi had finally stopped trying to speak to her, and Jackie was thankful for the silence so she could go back to zoning out. However, when everyone was dismissed, Jackie could see out of the corner of her eye that Gigi was still there, waiting.
“Well,” Gigi began, scratching the back of her neck. “Good luck!”
Jackie did her best to not react. “Thanks,” she muttered, slinging her backpack around her shoulder and leaving, barely avoiding a collision with Gigi’s shoulder.
Election season was now in full swing, and candidates were dropping like flies. Now the only two people left were Jackie and Gigi. Jackie was extremely confident that she was doing fairly well, as everyone she had asked said they would be voting for her.
Jackie had sauntered up to Nicky, leaning on the blonde’s locker as she always did in the morning, but Jackie wasn’t as tired as she usually was. Instead, she was bouncing on the balls of her feet. “How are the polls looking, Nicky?” Jackie asked, watching Nicky pull up the results on her phone. She had heard she had been doing better recently thanks to the few posters Nicky had made for her that hung around the halls, and couldn’t wait to see the polls.
The blonde skimmed the page, before looking up and smirking. “You’re up three percent.”
“Really?” Jackie grinned, trying to look over Nicky’s shoulder at her screen. “What’s my total?”
“Three percent.”
Jackie’s eyes went wide, searching Nicky’s face for the joke.
“What? But… Everyone said they’d be voting for me!”
Rolling her eyes, Nicky put her phone back into her pocket. She crossed her arms and raised a pointed eyebrow at Jackie. “You asked three people, and I was one of them.”
Jackie ignored her, shaking her head at herself. “How is this possible?”
Looking down the hallway, Jackie spotted Gigi talking to a girl Jackie recognized from her BC Calculus class. Wait, was Gigi handing her money?
Nicky had begun talking about something or another, but Jackie couldn’t be bothered to care. She had bigger problems right now. She stalked towards Gigi, ignoring Nicky’s calls behind her.
“Hey!” Jackie shouted when she was close enough to be sure Gigi would hear. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Oh hey, Jackie,” Heidi, the girl next to Gigi, said, “Have you done the homework yet?”
“Um, yes, obviously I did the homework, but that’s not important right now,” Jackie flared her nostrils, giving Gigi a piercing glare. “Are you bribing her? Seriously?”
Gigi continued handing the girl the money, albeit slower, as if she assumed that if she was quiet enough, Jackie wouldn’t notice. “No.”
“I can see you, that is, like, fifteen dollars.”
“Actually, it’s twenty!” Gigi smirked. “And there’s no rule against it, the principal didn’t say I couldn’t bribe people!”
Putting her hands on her hips, Jackie scoffed. “Is this how you get through life, Gigi? Buying your way into anything you want?”
“I feel like I shouldn’t be here right now,” Heidi said, looking between the two. She quickly pocketed the money and slipped out while the two other girls were busy staring each other down.
Gigi rolled her eyes. “Would you rather have me slander you? I’m sure I can pull up some sort of blackmail.”
“Good luck with that, I haven’t done anything remotely as bad as you have. I should be slandering you!”
“Oh, yeah,” Gigi crossed her arms, smirking, and Jackie knew this was bad news. “Freshman year, dress coded in the hall.”
Jackie sputtered, “that wasn’t my fault! It was the rampant sexism!”
“But the forty percent of undecided male voters might say otherwise.”
Jackie stopped in her tracks. “Really, forty percent?”
“Yeah, I think they hate women and don’t want to vote for one.”
“Well, they don’t have a choice.”
“Right? It’s actually ridiculous.”
“Yeah,” Jackie nodded, before lowering her eyebrows and looking away. “Wait, no! I’m mad at you! You can’t blackmail me.”
With a flip of her hair, Gigi began to turn away. “Then I’ll keep bribing whoever I want.”
As she started to walk down the hall, Jackie called out, “You won’t win this way!”
“Are you serious, Jackie? Yes I will,” Gigi laughed, causing Jackie’s cheeks to burn at the sound. Whether it was from embarrassment or something else, Jackie wasn’t sure, but she was angry, and she wanted to win.
If there was one thing Nicky hated, it was being interrupted while kissing pretty girls in her bed, but if there was anything she hated more, it was how oblivious Jackie was to everything around her.
Rock pulled away, her forehead creased. “Why is your ringer so loud?”
Nicky rolled her eyes, pulling her phone out of her back pocket. “Shut up. This better be worth it.”
[jackie.cox] Gigi is SO annoying! She’s bribing people left and right, and has no qualifications, and she keeps… smirking at me!
“Well?” Rock leaned forward, trying to catch a glimpse at Nicky’s phone.
“Definitely not worth it,” she muttered, “It’s Jackie, ranting about Gigi as always.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be her advisor?”
Nicky laughed, “Yes,” before sending a message back to Jackie.
[nickydoll69] u r dumb
[jackie.cox] ??? I have a 4.0 GPA ???
[nickydoll69] dumb
Nicky looked back up, raising an eyebrow at Rock. “Gigi is bribing people?”
“As her campaign’s financial advisor, I completely support this.”
“Well, Jackie’s having an aneurysm over it.”
“Lemme see,” Rock scooted off of Nicky’s lap to sit by her side, taking her phone. “Really? She’s mad at the smirking? That was like, the opposite of what Gigi wanted.”
“Gigi planned this?”
Rock shrugged and nodded. “Yeah, she said something about no girl being able to resist the ‘Goode Charm’,” she made air quotes with her fingers, “She’s ridiculous.”
“But is she wrong?” Nicky asked, showing Rock the newest text on her phone.
[jackie.cox] I hate her and her stupid smirk on her stupid pretty face!
“That sounds kinda gay, Jackie.” Rock commented, and then looked back at Nicky. “We’re getting somewhere.”
“No we are not,” Nicky scoffed, “It’s going to take her two years to realize she likes Gigi at this rate.”
“Trust me, if Gigi ups the ante, there’s no way Jackie can resist her.”
Sending a quick text back to Jackie, Nicky put her phone down and pulled Rock onto her lap. “This sounds fucking stupid.”
Rock simpered, leaning closer. “It is, but it’ll work.”
Jackie was still fuming by the time lunch rolled around the next day, but she tried to keep her cool, as she was with Nicky and Rock. Gigi’s table of rich, future socialites was only ten or so feet away, but Jackie tried to block the blonde’s voice out nonetheless.
“Have you guys seen the TikTok where-”
“No Rock, I have not seen whatever anime TikTok you’re about to describe,” Jackie pointed at Rock with her spork, before piercing one of the cubed peaches in front of her.
“And I have seen it, and probably hated it,” Nicky added. “I hate all of the TikToks you send me.”
“Even the-”
“Yes. Even that one.”
“You guys suck.” Rock pouted, picking up her Capri Sun. “I send you guys the best ones!”
Jackie was about to respond, a quip on the tip of her tongue, until she heard an obnoxious, loud male voice behind her.
“I don’t think gay people should be allowed to run for anything, let alone president…”
It wasn’t like Jackie hadn’t heard something like this before, but with her losing numbers in the poll, this only made her angrier.
Before she had the chance to turn around and begin degrading whoever had spoken, another voice rang out.
“Hey!”
Jackie watched as the boy who had spoken and his friend turned away from her, only to come face to face with Gigi Goode.
The blonde’s glares were usually cold, but this one was especially sharp. “Jackie being gay has nothing to do with why she’s going to lose!”
“Very nice, Gigi, very cool,” Jackie muttered to herself as she watched this go down.
“Because she’ll be losing to a lesbian, anyway.” Gigi stared the boy down, “how do you feel about that, Jake?”
Sputtering, Jake looked around the cafeteria where half of the student body had been watching. “But you’re so hot, you can’t like girls!”
“And why not?” Gigi cocked an eyebrow.
“Because!”
“Because…” Gigi leaned forward, urging him on, “You’re an idiot?”
“Yes!“ He said with his full chest, and then pulled back, scrunching up his brows, “Wait - no! What?”
A few spectators began to laugh, as well as Jake’s friend, who had backed up to put space in between them. Gigi smirked, taking in the crowd, before meeting Jake’s eyes once again. “Do you think you’ve embarrassed yourself enough, or should I keep going?”
He rolled his eyes, scoffing. “Whatever. Bitch.” He walked away, motioning for his friend to follow him.
Jackie swallowed, unsure what to think. She had been so rude to Gigi these last months, but Gigi had just stood up for her, and she was gay?
“Uh,” she started, inwardly cursing herself for sounding like a moron. Gigi turned to her expectantly. “Thanks.”
Gigi nodded once. “Yeah.” She turned away swiftly, giving Jackie no chance to say anything else.
When she swiveled back around to Nicky and Rock, the two appeared to have been listening with rapt attention. However, when they noticed she could see them again, they switched positions, looking anywhere but at her.
“What are you doing?”
“Huh?” Rock asked, studying her lunchbox. “Nothing, we just - oh did my mom pack cookies? Sweet!”
“Wow, so cool Rock! No glue this time?” Nicky asked, her eyes way too wide and her excitement too over exaggerated.
Rock deflated at the comment. “I wish.”
“Uh… okay.” Jackie looked between the two, wondering what moment she had just interrupted.
Silence fell over the three, before Nicky spoke again. “So… That was really nice of Gigi.”
“And she’s gay,” Rock added, helping no one. Nicky kicked her underneath the table, which caused Rock to yelp.
“Yeah, that was really nice of her to come out to defend me,” Jackie shrugged.
“Yeah… it was… very kind of her to do that…” Nicky emphasized the thought, leaning forward in her seat.
It was really nice, Jackie thought to herself, twisting slightly in her chair to catch a glimpse at Gigi’s table. The blonde was laughing with her friends, her wavy hair going past her shoulders. Jackie let her eyes stay on Gigi for only a moment more, before she slid them back to the table. Maybe there were two sides to every story, and Jackie had written Gigi’s side without even getting to know her. She had stood up for Jackie, seemingly without a second thought, would Jackie have done the same? Of course, but… Jackie was a good person, right? Could Gigi be a good person, too?
Jackie was pulled out of her thoughts by the conversation Nicky and Rock were having at the other side of the table. “Do you think it’s working?” Rock had whispered, glancing between Nicky and Jackie.
“What are you two talking about?” Jackie asked, furrowing her brows.
Rock’s eyes went wide, before she stuttered out “Anime! Crunchyroll on mobile is so glitchy!” She gave a tense smile, and let out a high pitched, fake laugh.
“Right…”
Though she was still confused, Jackie wouldn’t let Gigi throw her off completely. It was almost the end of the election season, and Jackie knew her only way to reel in the undecided voters was to nail her speech. She had begun writing it, but had no direction. After what had just happened, an idea finally hit her.
By the time speeches rolled around, Jackie was filled with confidence. She was extremely proud of the speech she had prepared, she had been rehearsing it every single night and was ready to crush Gigi’s dreams of being President.
The two sat to the left of center stage in the auditorium where the speeches would take place. Their entire class trickled in slowly, making their way into the rows. As more and more piled in, Jackie’s anxiety rose. She could feel dozens of eyes on her. The principal began introducing the two candidates, redundantly, if Jackie had to say, and then gestured to Gigi to step up to the podium.
Gigi stood up swiftly, walking up to the stand, the clack of her heels echoing through the large room. All eyes were on her now, so Jackie could finally relax.
With bated breath, Gigi finally began her speech, dragging her eyes along the audience.
“Hey guys! My name is Gigi God, I mean Goode, fuck, I mean, not fuck, I mean, shit, I mean, hey!” She turned to the principal, cocking her head, “Am I allowed to keep going or am I suspended for that?”
He nodded, gesturing for her to continue.
“Cool. I decided to run for President because we need someone who can work! And I can, even though there’s a rumor that I can’t. Thanks, Dahlia. You wish you could be up here.”
“No I don’t,” a voice called out from the audience.
“Shut up, Dahlia. I hope that was Dahlia. Anyway, I am really good with an E, get it, Gigi Goode? Wow, funny, too? You guys are really gonna miss out if you don’t vote for me.”
Jackie watched in horror as Gigi’s speech devolved into absolute chaos. She had no idea where all of Gigi’s confidence came from, as it appeared as though she was an absolute moron when it came to public speaking.
“So, if you don’t vote for me, know you are not cool. You probably are a nerd and want to vote for Jackie for, I don’t know, longer Dungeons and Dragons meetings. Sorry Rock. Peace!”
With that, Gigi pulled away from the podium, and walked back to her seat, a smug smile on her face. “Beat that, Jackie.”
Jackie sent her an incredulous look. “I would be worried if I couldn’t.”
Letting out a deep breath, Jackie got up from her own seat, and walked to the center of the stage. She gripped the podium tightly, bending down slightly to speak into the microphone.
“Hello everyone. As you know, I am Jaqueline Cox, your treasurer, and, hopefully, your future president. I have the experience of being in the student council, and I am fully confident that I have what it takes to be the greatest President this school has ever had.” She took another breath, looking down to read the next line of her speech.
“Coming into high school was difficult, as it was for many of us. Figuring out who we are, who we want to be, who other people think we should be, it’s like we’re placed in a box before we even know how to break out. Now, look at us.” She tried to find a few familiar faces, smiling gently at Nicky and Rock, who were situated a few rows to the left. “Soon we’ll be going into the real world, where more boxes will be built around us, some less temporary than others. I want to help give each and every one of you the tools to break out of those boxes, regardless of how daunting it may seem.”
She had spent hours figuring out what her speech was going to be about, and hit several walls. However, thinking back through her own high school experience, it was not her intelligence or her drive that made her happy or successful, it was her bravery. It was her fearlessness in being herself. That was all she ever wanted for everyone else, as well.
“Because of my upbringing, my boxes were always so rigid, and I was always afraid to break out and be myself. But coming here, and seeing all of you, and finding out who I am, I’ve learned that the only way to live is to live truthfully. There is always going to be fear and danger in subverting expectations, but are you really living, if you aren’t you? Allowing diversity into our school, and allowing it to flourish, would be the best opportunity we would have to create a graduating class of unique individuals who are ready to break out of societal confines, and be exactly who we all want to be.”
Jackie scanned the audience, looking for any reactions. Everyone’s faces were blank, besides Crystal, who was sobbing in the front row and Gigi, who was staring intensely at Jackie.
“If you elect me as your president, I promise that I will fight each and every day to ensure that everyone gets to be themselves. There will be no fear in my hallways.”
Crystal stood up, starting to slowly clap, looking around and waiting for the other students to join in. They didn’t. She sat back down immediately, trying to pretend she didn’t embarrass herself in front of the entire student body.
“Um. Thank you,” Jackie spoke, shifting her eyes around the unreactive audience.
With that, she turned to go back to her seat. Gigi held up her hand for a high five, which Jackie stared at for a little too long, before slowly bringing her hand up to meet Gigi’s.
“And for our final announcement of the day, the new heads of Student Council…”
Jackie listened closely, tapping her sneaker on the cafeteria floor to keep her occupied. It was the end of the day, and after what felt like thirty activities and announcements, it was finally time to learn who had become the president. She had been in study hall for her last period, and with little homework to occupy herself, had been terribly anxious and snappy while waiting.
“Our Secretary is Widow Von Du…”
Jackie rolled her eyes. She had run unopposed, what was the point in announcing this?
“Our new treasurer is Brita Havea…”
At least some good had come out of this race, Brita would be a fantastic replacement, and she voted for Jackie.
The principal paused, which only acted to further annoy Jackie, and her tapping foot became incessant.
“And our new President and Vice President are… Gigi Goode and Jackie Cox, respectively!”
What?
“ What? ”
What had happened? Had she been Thomas Jefferson’d? Why was she the Vice President?
“I’m sorry,” Nicky said, putting a hand on Jackie’s shoulder to console her. “Gigi’s speech was God awful, but it was the most human thing she has ever done. She won by a landslide.”
Jackie turned her head away, accidentally finding Gigi amongst the sea of students, across the room. She was clapping for herself. Jackie looked away quickly, because Gigi’s presence and her joy were making her upset. She gathered her things and started heading to the library. Once she got into the empty hallway, she heard footsteps behind her that followed her rhythm, but they were getting closer. After listening closely, Jackie could tell that it was no other than Gigi, the last person she wanted to see.
“Go away, Gigi.”
“I know you’re pissed but listen to me!”
Jackie continued walking towards the library, bunching her hands up at her sides. “Why should I listen?”
“Because!” Gigi sputtered.
“Amazing argument.”
The loud groan Gigi let out shocked Jackie for a second, before Gigi started speaking again. “I… might’ve… offered the school some things to have you be my Vice President, because I knew how much this meant to you!”
Jackie stopped in her tracks. She hated the fact that Gigi couldn’t seem to stop bribing people, but then again, that money could go towards a lot of the programs that desperately needed funding.
“Why would you do that for me?” She asked, staring at the linoleum floors under her. “I don’t think I’ve ever been nice to you.”
“Does it matter?” Gigi asked, putting her hand on Jackie’s shoulder to turn her around. “You can make it up to me,” Jackie furrowed her eyebrows; Gigi actually looked… nervous? The blonde put a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, looking down, before looking back up at Jackie. “I was planning on going bowling tonight, if you want to join me?”
“You were going bowling… alone?”
Gigi nodded fervently, “Yeah! To, um, celebrate my win!”
“…Alone?”
“No one else won the presidency, did they?”
Jackie chuckled, shaking her head. Gigi was a lot more than the bitchy front she put up in the past, and Jackie was actually enjoying getting to see this other side of her, in a weird, ironic way.
Jackie finally gave in, smiling despite herself. “You really bribed the school for me?”
“Yes!” Gigi laughed, and Jackie joined in, because the situation was ridiculous. “Go bowling with me?”
Jackie rolled her eyes, still smiling. “Sure, why not?”
“Great!”
There was a pause, before Jackie spoke again. “So, are you picking me up?”
“Um…” Gigi looked around, tapping her shoe on the floor pointedly. “You are aware I’m gay, right?”
Jackie took a mental step back. “What?”
“I can’t drive, Jackie, I’m gay.”
“Okay?”  Jackie was even more confused, now. “I’m gay too, and I can drive?”
“Yeah, but, you’re… sophisticated.”
Laughing, Jackie nodded. “Okay, okay, fine. I’ll pick you up, just text me a time.”
“I don’t have your number, though?”
“DM me on Instagram,” Jackie said, giving Gigi another easy smile.
“Okay.” Gigi flashed her a toothy grin before turning around and heading back to the cafeteria to celebrate her win.
Jackie rolled her eyes, wondering what she had gotten herself into.
Clothes were strewn everywhere in Jackie’s room, covering her bed and desk. She couldn’t find a single, cohesive outfit she wanted to wear, but she had never cared before. What had changed?
Did Jackie… like Gigi? No, that couldn’t be possible, she had felt nothing but anger towards Gigi until recently. Everything Gigi did had made her mad, or confused, or nervous, or…
God damnit. She did like Gigi, but there was no way the blonde could feel the same way. Gigi was out of Jackie’s league, and she had no chance after she had been flat out rude to her the entire election season.
And now, they were hanging out, only because Gigi felt bad for her, and Jackie was going to be weird about it. Great. Gigi had done such a nice thing for her (ignoring the bribery), and even had offered up a friendship, and Jackie was going to ruin it by being a dumb lesbian.
It was less than thirty minutes until she was supposed to pick Gigi up, and having this crisis was not it. She looked over to her bed, where her phone was lying on her comforter, and wondered if it was too late to cancel. Sure, Gigi would be disappointed, but Jackie was not willing to put herself and her dignity through this.
She walked over to her bed, writing out what she would send to Gigi in her head (something along the lines of “Oh my God! I completely forgot that my mother wanted me to do xyz tonight, I’m so sorry!”), until she realized she had a notification from the other girl anyway.
[gigigoode] cant wait for tonight! this is the second thing im gonna beat u at today :)
Jackie laughed, despite how insulting that should have been. How was she supposed to cancel on her, when the blonde sounded so excited? Fuck it, she was going to have to put her feelings for Gigi on the back burner for tonight.
[jackie.cox] Jokes on you, I am a MASTER at bowling!
She wouldn’t say she was amazing at bowling, but she thought winning something against Gigi would help her shattered ego.
[gigigoode] :’(
Against her better judgement, Jackie decided to leave for Gigi’s early, in case she got lost. Gigi lived in a neighborhood she wasn’t entirely familiar with, so she was being prepared. She totally didn’t want to get there early on purpose.
However, when she finally arrived, she found herself overthinking everything. What if Gigi thought it was weird that she was early? But she couldn’t just sit in Gigi’s driveway like a stalker, that would be even weirder.
[gigigoode] are u at my house??
“Shit,” Jackie whispered, texting back a quick response before Gigi could think mean thoughts about her.
[jackie.cox] Yeah, sorry I overestimated the amount of time it took me to get here. Haha
[gigigoode] it’s okay just give me a minute and i’ll come on down :)
To Jackie’s relief, Gigi came out of her house only moments later, dressed in jean shorts and a striped blue button down, and it might have been the first time Jackie had seen her without heels, having swapped them out with a white pair of sneakers. It was the most dressed down Jackie had ever seen her, but it somehow only fueled her newly realized attraction. God damnit.
Although the car ride was a little awkward, and Jackie almost T-Boned someone because she got distracted by Gigi, they got there in one piece.
The bowling alley had a galaxy theme, with bright strobe lights flashing over the starry rugs and countertops. Children filled up almost every lane and every game that the arcade portion had to offer, throwing balls into gutters and stuffing their faces with pizza.
Jackie remembered being young without a care in the world, which was the exact opposite of how she felt right now, with Gigi’s hand brushing up against her own as they walked to the counter.
“I’m paying,” Gigi announced loudly, handing over her money to the gangly cashier, who was about as subtle in checking Gigi out as every other boy in their grade (which was not at all, ever). It annoyed Jackie, throwing a glare at the boy that she hoped he noticed.
They got their shoes from the counter, and headed off to their lane.
Jackie was feeling pretty confident after she found the perfect bowling ball, happy with the way her thumb wouldn’t get caught in it when she released it. However, after plugging in both of their names into the system, Gigi immediately bowled a spare.
As ‘SPARE’ played across the screen, Gigi did a celebratory dance, which Jackie found it boastful, but also cute at the same time, which she hated.
“You’re up,” Gigi looked back at Jackie as she walked towards their seats, smirking.
Jackie did pretty well, knocking over seven pins, having left two on the left and one on the right. She tried to hit the two on the left, but her ball ended up going straight through the middle of the lane.
“Oooh, not quite,” Gigi teased, walking up and grabbing her teal ball from the ball return. She took a few moments to align herself, sending her ball down the middle and knocking over all ten pins.
“Woo!” Gigi brought back the celebratory dance, stopping as soon as she saw Jackie’s face. “Uh…”
“It’s fine,” Jackie lied, standing up too straight.
She ended up knocking over another seven pins, which was still fine, but annoyed her further with how far behind she’d still be.
It was like Gigi picked up on Jackie’s irritation, because once it was her turn, she rolled a gutter ball.
“Oops! Silly me, I’m just too dainty to hold this heavy ball, it looks like!” Gigi pouted, letting her wrists bend down.
Jackie squinted and tilted her head. “Yeah…”
“I guess you’re gonna catch up…”
Jackie continued looking at her suspiciously, before shaking her head and getting up once more.
Gigi didn’t give up her act of pretending she couldn’t hold the ball, and Jackie ended up winning the game with a total of 73 points.
“Did you let me win?” Jackie finally asked, after watching Gigi manage to knock down one pin on her last go.
Gigi had the decency to look surprised. “Wha- I- Of course not! You’re just so good at bowling!”
“Do you want me to teach you, then? We can play another game.”
“Yeah! I’d love to.”
Every time Jackie would help Gigi hold the ball, she would feel Gigi lean into her touch. Surely Jackie was just imagining it, there was no reason for Gigi to want to do that. Despite her instruction, Gigi hadn’t been getting better, and had to keep asking for Jackie to repeat her instructions again and again.
That was, until the end, when Gigi finally got another strike. Her little dance came back once again, and Jackie found herself smiling at the blonde.
“Jackie! We did it!” She squealed, hopping off the platform to give Jackie the tightest hug.
“Yeah, we did. We’re a great team, I’m glad we were able to become such good friends after everything!”
She could feel Gigi still almost immediately, before pulling away from Jackie and giving her a cold stare. “Friends?”
Jackie swallowed. “Yeah? What else could we be-”
“I ask you to go bowling with me, and pay for it, and get you to ‘teach me’ how to bowl, even though I’m clearly better than you, and you call us friends?”
“Wait, so you were faking it?”
“Yes, Jackie, you idiot! So not the point!” She threw her hands up, balling them into fists and setting them back down to her sides. “I like you! I don’t know how to spell it out so you can finally figure it out, but I’ve had this massive crush on you for like a year!”
Jackie felt every word she wanted to say get lodged in her throat, watching Gigi grow angrier.
“And I thought you felt the same, because you said yes to this date!”
Jackie took a step back mentally. “This is a date?”
“‘This is a date?’” Gigi mocked her, “Of course it’s a date!” She let out a huff, closing her eyes and finally calming down. She spoke calmly, her voice sounding like it was on the verge of cracking. “Did you not want this to be a date?”
“No, I do! I just never thought you felt that way about me!”
Gigi laughed incredulously, shaking her head. “Seriously? I thought I was being totally obvious.”
Suddenly, a lot more of what had happened over the last few weeks made sense to Jackie. The reason why Gigi had sat next to her that day in the library, their arguments always being filled with tension that she couldn’t pinpoint, her own feelings towards Gigi. The way Gigi had always looked at her, intensely, and without shame.
“I’m not… the best at picking up on things…” She rubbed the back of her neck, her face beginning to burn. “I feel like an idiot now.”
“You should, honestly. I bribed the school for you to be the VP, and you thought absolutely nothing of it?”
Jackie rolled her eyes, trying not to let herself smile. “Way to make me feel better.”
Gigi grinned, leaning forward to nudge Jackie’s shoulder with her own. “Sorry, you’re just ridiculous.”
The two laughed, and Jackie felt all of the pressure of the night fall off her shoulders. She wasn’t sure what this would make the two of them, but for once, she couldn’t be bothered to care. She was having a good time, and she was having a good time with Gigi. “Yeah, but you like me.”
“You like me, and I bribe people.”
“Morals be damned in the name of high school crushes,” Jackie shrugged, laughing along with Gigi, before pressing her lips together. “Where does that leave us now?”
Gigi twisted her bowling shoe on the ground, quirking her mouth to the side. “I guess we could, you know, finish our date?”
Jackie could feel herself genuinely smile again, blushing under the strobe lights. “Well… I am positive I could kick your ass at the arcade games.”
Gigi smirked, leaning forward to grab Jackie’s hand, pulling her towards the Arcade. “You’re on.”

gigi x jackie? they were cute in this episode
for the record: anon was talking about ep2 but since i’m a lazy bitch i just got around doing this request smh i’m cancelled 😔👊🏻 still hope u like it though! he/him pronouns are used because they’re out of drag.
my requests are open, so please feel free to send me a prompt and a pairing and i’ll write a drabble for you!
Jackie assumes the role of mom friend quicker than he expected.
There’s only seven queens counting him, but that doesn’t mean there’s any less chaos. Dinner time turns into anything but dinner time with the seven of them talking over each other in order to tell a story over someone else that isn’t even finished talking.
He can only imagine how messy it’ll be once the other queens join them.
“I feel like my ears are going to explode,” Gigi comments, settling by his side in the couches. Jackie hums in agreement, his mouth full with the cheap pasta.
So far, he likes Gigi. Even if he tends to like everyone, he just likes Gigi more than the rest for some strange reason. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that he’s funny and, at the moment, is the only other queen that prefers to be silent rather than scream at the top of his lungs stories from the club.
“There’s a reason in the queen of New York’s evening life,” Jackie says, stifling a laugh. Gigi smiles, taking a bite from his meatballs.
“Are you really?” Gigi asks with a brow cocked, Jackie nods, saying he’s too old for the night life. “Oh, bitch, please, aren’t you the same age as Brita?”
Jackie snorts, almost throwing his food.
“Well, yeah, but, y’know, everyone says they’re the queen of the night life in their cities. What about the evening life? It’s a nice time too!” His answer elicits a loud laugh from Gigi and maybe his heart skips a beat or two, but he doesn’t think much of it.
“Oh my God, after we finish filming I’m definitely joining you on the evening life,” Gigi assures, and Jackie smiles widely.
“If we book you,” he deadpans and Gigi screeches, promptly causing the rest of the queens to look at them.
They start to yell at them to join before Jackie can continue an add I’m joking, I’d love to share my throne with you.

My TOP 10 couples of 2021 based on their chemistry.
It's almost the end of this year so it's time for a recap.
I chose 10 couples that I enjoyed in 2021, so let's get started:
1. Jackie & Leslie (Hightown s2) - Both are messy in their own way, but thet are perfect together. I didn't expect to like them so much. Chemistry is incredible. They could stand next to each other and not even look in each other's direction and the chemistry would be better than a lot of couples on TV. I hope the showrunner doesn't screw them up even more in the next season.
2. Gigi & Dani (The L Word: Generation Q s2) - Gen Q is boring as fuck. I had to fast forward many scenes to survive, but Gini scenes are the only thing I can watch over and over again. I blame Gigi for this :)
3. Vi & Caitlyn (Arcane: League of Legends s1) - I don't even like animated series, but I made an exception and I don't regret it. Not only is a fantastic show but Vi and Caitlyn are such a nice surprise. I can't wait for the next season.
4. Haniwa & Wren (See s2) - I really wasn't expecting a f/f couple in season two, and definitely not the main couple. Awesome surprise. On top of that, the writers gave them the most romantic story they could :)
5. Quinn & Isabela (Harlem s1) - Q&I are so adorable together :) Their chemistry is so strong that they didn't even have to kiss to get my attention. I hope for more of them in the next season.
6. Deena & Sam (Fear Street Trilogy) - Normally I wouldn't watch this, because I don't like horror movies, but this one wasn't that scary. Also, f/f as the main couple, that's pretty rare.
7. Sarah & Joline (Van Helsing s5) - I know they don't count as new couple, but I've been waiting for they reunion since 2018, so they should be here.
8. Marla & Fran (I Care a Lot) - None of them are good people, but this list is not about that. Chemistry between them is actually pretty good. But well... we're talking about Rosamund Pike after all, she has chemistry with all women :)
9. Taissa & Simone (Yellowjackets s1) - They may not be at the top of my list, but I'm getting more and more into them. Their kissing scene was really good.
10. Amy & Kirsten (Vigil s1) - I really wish they weren't separated practically the whole season. We only saw flashbacks from the time, when they were a couple.
Happy New Year!

Friendly Fire - Chapter 6
Jackie’s voice deepened impossibly, rumbling against Jan’s neck. “Oh, Sunshine,” she chuckled darkly, “you don’t want to play these games, not with me.”
But Jan was never very good at following the rules.
Which is undoubtedly what got her into this situation in the first place.
“Why not?”
“Cause I’ll win.” Jackie smiled wickedly, flashing her porcelain-white teeth in the process.
She looked like an animal on the prowl. A predator. And Jan felt acutely aware of the fact that she was the intended prey.
“You won’t.”
Jackie’s hands stopped their movements as the car began to slow and noise from the party could be heard from outside.
“I’ll make you a bet,” Jackie said. “By the end of the night, you’ll let me win - no, you’ll be begging me to.”
Jan maneuvered her way off Jackie’s lap, grabbing her purse with her left and pulling her partner toward the door with her right. “And if I don’t?” She asked cheekily.
Jackie stopped her, turning Jan around to look her deep in the eyes. “You’re in charge,” she said seriously.
Jan blinked at her slowly. “You mean like-”
“Like totally in charge.” Jackie nodded. “I won’t touch anything on the case without your permission. No phone calls to mafia folk, no secret meetings. I’ll defer to you on all matters.”
Jan balked at her statement. “You must be pretty damn sure of yourself.”
Jackie just smiled knowingly.

military-based story with serious drill sergeant Gigi and unruly cadets. (Heidi and Jan are cadet friends) (Jackie is another Sergeant nicer) Nicky transfer from France army.
Military Base Charles
Gigi - Drill Sergeant Goode
Jackie - Sergeant Cox
Crystal - Private Methyd
Jan - Private Sport
Heidi - Major Closet (pfft)
Widow - Captain Von Du
Jaida - Captain Hall
Nicky - Warrant Officer Doll
Rock - (Military Police) Officer Sakura
(Gigi x Crystal, Jackie x Nicky)
Monday mornings were parade days. The platoon would be marched out of their barracks to the parade square. Today was unfortunately not just a normal practice parade, this was the real thing. Colonel Hall is coming to visit the base to be introduced to the new recruits and check on the officers. Drill sergeant Goode marches out to the front of the platoon. She turns herself around to address the recruits.
“Platoon 309. Attention!”
The voice of the drill sergeant rang across the parade square. The platoon was quick to stand at attention.
“Present, arms!”
The platoon raises their right arms and salute Colonel Hall. The parade goes on as usual, Colonel Hall is very impressed with the progress of Sergeant Goode’s platoon. Captain Von Du and Colonel Hall are walking through the ranks to inspect the recruits and speak with a few of them.
“Good morning sergeant Cox.” Colonel Hall said smiling at Jackie, herself responding back respectfully and she moves onto the next recruit. At the end Colonel Hall passes on her praise to Captain Von Du and Sergeant Goode. The parade gets wrapped up and the platoon is dismissed for lunch.
“Gigi!” Jackie walks over to Gigi following dismissal. Jackie and Gigi joined the corps at the same time, they became fast friends.
“That was so nerve wracking Jackie. I was so worried I’d mess this whole parade up.” Gigi grabs her face in her hands.
“You did fantastic! You were clear and you looked badass!” Jackie laughed while patting the flustered red headed drill sergeants shoulder.
“I can’t wait to see the new privates joining today after lunch.” Gigi stated while they both started to walk over to the mess hall.
“You’ll mold them wonderfully, your drill training is top class.” Jackie giggled back.
The mess hall was nearly full. Everyone was washing their hands and lining up to go to the counter. They ate based on rank, the lower the rank the faster you get food. Jackie and Gigi weren’t the highest rank there but they were high enough that they’d get to the food by the last wave of recruits. Gigi scowls at the counter, seeing the bain of her existence. The eggs.
“They have those scrambled eggs.” Gigi whispers to Jackie with a raised lip.
“They aren’t that bad Gi.” Jackie whispers back.
“Eggs. Shouldn’t. Bounce!” Gigi stated as she grabbed her food tray and handed one to Jackie.
There are plenty of rumors about the mess hall food going around, it wasn’t by any means a five star meal but everyone could agree it was better than MRE’s. The girls grabbed their food and went to find a place to sit. They see a bunch of new recruits sitting at a table with the captain getting the rundown.
“Gi look at that private, with the green hair.” Gigi’s eyes wander over.
“She’ll have it dyed by sun down Jackie. You know they only allow natural colours.”
Jackie lets out a giggle and continues to follow Gigi to a table with the rest of their friends.

Safe Within Your Arms (Gigi x Jackie) EmoWithOddSocks
Summary: Gigi seeks comfort in Jackie’s arms. (Non Sexual use of the word ‘Daddy’)
A/N: Send prompts to my blog
Jackie had decided to use his day and night off wisely. By doing absolutely nothing other than spending the entire day watching trashy TV and snoozing on the couch. He knew that as soon as the show would begin airing there would be little time for this little pocket of self care he had allowed himself to enjoy.
Around the 10th episode of Kitchen Nightmares Jackie decided that it was time to peel himself off the couch and take a long shower before tucking into bed for a rare good night sleep. However, just as he had closed his eyes ready to drift off, his phone began to buzz on the nightstand. Annoyed, Jackie blindly reached for it, his eyes cracking open as little as possible to read the caller ID.
*incoming call* Miss Goode
Jackie tapped the answer button confused about why Gigi would be calling at 11pm on a Wednesday night.
“Hello?”
“Hi. Sorry I know it’s your night off.”
“It’s fine. So what’s up? You sound upset.” Jackie sat up in bed, preventing the possibility of falling back asleep.
“I-l don’t know what happened. I was just sat in my hotel room and got the sudden need to talk to someone.”
“You’re In New York?”
“Yeah.” Gigi almost sobbed down the phone. “I came to see an old friend but they didn’t want to see me. I was going to call Nicky or Jan but Nicky never picks up and Jan’s working tonight. And Crystal… I don’t want to talk about it.“
Jackie could hear the apparent sadness laced in Gigi’s voice. The younger queen showing her vulnerability like this was rare. Rubbing her tired eyes Jackie decided that sleep could wait for a while. Gigi needed her more.
“Do you want to come over Gige?”
“Yes please.” The reply came out as less than a whisper.
“Hold on Babe l’ll send you my address.”
“Thanks Da-Jackie. Thanks Jackie.”
Less than 10 minutes later (consisting of Jackie frantically trying to tidy up her apartment) Gigi stood at the door. Clearly unsettled by something from the way her body trembled.
“Hey.” She fell into the hug Jackie was offering, immediately feeling a little better at the contact from the older queen. Showing weakness wasn’t something she was used to but around Jackie she found a new confidence to bare out her soul. Jackie was willing to listen.
“Hi Gige,” Jackie sighed, “come on in. Can I get you a drink or anything?”
Gigi shook her head, instead plopping herself down on Jackie’s couch. She loved how Jackie’s apartment was undeniably, well Jackie’s. From the sight vintage feel to the decor to the Star Trek mug that sat unwashed next to her kitchen sink. Gigi’s favorite part though was the owner of such possessions.
“Would you do that thing you used to in the van?” She asked shyly. Jackie hummed in agreement as he sat next to the younger queen, bringing the palm of her hand to her lap. Slowly she traced small circles into the soft skin, an action that had become an instant calmer to a stressed out Gigi during filming.
Gigi looked like she was holding something back, as if words had become stuck in her throat. Jackie let go of her hand.
“Jackie, I need, I need you.” Gigi finally forced out along with a few tears running down her face. On the inside Jackie swore that his heart was breaking. Those feelings could wait
“How do you wanna do this?” Jackie ran a finger up and down the side of Gigi’s arm, the hairs standing up from the contact. “You have complete control Gige.”
“I don’t know. I think I just wanna sleep with you tonight.” Jackie raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t that she didn’t find Gigi attractive, that would be impossible to deny but physically being with her didn’t feel right.
“Not like that!” Gigi protested. “I want to be held by you. Like cuddling? Yeah I want to be cuddled. Every cell in Jackie’s body simultaneously signed in relief at the confirmation.
“And you don’t mind me referring to you as ‘baby’ do you? Say I was to refer to you as ‘baby boy’, you’d be comfortable with that?” Gigi’s face lifted into a brief smile as she moved closer to Jackie.
“That’s fine, more than fine actually. What about me calling you, you know?” The hesitation hit her before she’d even realized what had left her mouth. Panicking she stared into Jackie’s eyes, desperate for any form of reaction.
“Relax. You can say it, no judgement from me Gigi. If that’s part of the comfort I can give you right now then it’s completely okay sweetheart.” The older queen stroked a line down her cheeks, wiping off the tears that had clung to Gigi’s face.
“Daddy.” she whimpered, burying her head into Jackie’s shoulder in a failed attempt to hide the embarrassment she felt. Jackie pulled Gigi onto his lap, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. He felt the collar of his t-shirt dampen from more tears until he decided to bring Gigi to face him, holding her face.
“Call me whatever you want baby boy. Shhh. Now stop those tears, crying is Crystal’s gig.” Gigi tensed at the mention of Crystal’s name.
“Can we go to bed?” Gigi yawned.
“Of course baby.”
-
Jackie smiled into Gigi’s hair as she felt the younger’s soft breath tickle her neck. Gigi had completely wrapped herself around Jackie’s body. Never had she felt so small than when held in Jackie’s arms, a rare safe place. Jackie had tried falling back asleep cuddled up to Gigi but was kept awake by the mumbles leaving the younger’s mouth every few minutes as she found herself trapped in a dream.
“Jac…” “Daddy.”
“I’m right here baby boy. I’m not going anywhere.” Jackie soothed, pressing her fingers into Gigi’s back. He wasn’t even sure Gigi was listening, not even stirring as Jackie’s phone lit up one again.
*Incoming call Crystal Methyd*
“Please tell me Gigi is with you!” Crystal sounded out of breath as if she’d been ruining around the city all night.
“She is. What’s wrong?”
“I fucked up Jackie, i don’t know what she’s told you but it’s my fault.” Jackie looked back down at the queen who had begun to nuzzle into her neck.
“Cryst she’s told me nothing, can we talk properly in the morning?”
“Okay. Thanks for looking after her, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving Jackie with an endless amount of unanswered questions. He decided they could wait, Gigi deserved the rest and Jackie couldn’t find the energy to ask. As long as they remained snuggled up together no previous conflict could cause a disturbance.

“Is that.. my shirt?” PLS 🤧🤧💕
here u go nony! set in that throuple vampire verse i wrote earlier today, with jackie/gigi but the throuple is implied 🤠
*
“Is that my shirt?” Gigi asks, startling Jackie as she turns to face her.
“How long have you been there?” She replies with another question, forgetting how sneaky Gigi can be and the fact she has no reflection. It surely is something she dreads; she has this annoying habit of appearing out of nowhere, taking advantage of this.
Gigi shrugs, being as mysterious as she always is. Jackie groans a little, turning back to see her reflection in the mirror.
“It is,” Jackie admits sheepishly, admiring the vintage clothing. “I’m sorry, I was gonna ask you to let me borrow it, I just couldn’t—”
“You don’t have to ask me anything, wear it if you want,”  Gigi cuts her off, making Jackie blush. “Nicky steals my clothes all the time and I don’t mind, I don’t wear half of this shit anyways.” She shrugs again and Jackie scratches the back of her neck.
“I guess I just need time getting used to… This.” She gestures at the two of them and Gigi smiles softly, coming closer to give Jackie a kiss on the cheek.
“Take all the time you need, honey; we want you to be comfortable,” Gigi says, placing an arm around Jackie’s waist and encouraging her to keep on snooping around her closet.
