i dont think any writer has ever understood dick grayson and bruce wayne the way the writer who wrote that one comic where bruce and selina go to visit talia and fight her almost to the death just to like ask for permission to marry?? (its a lil confusing sry and i dont remember what its called or who wrote it)

Dick and Damian sit on the steps outside while Bruce and Talia and Selina fight, and Damian is understandably upset and Dick asks him if he wants to know why Bruce did what he did. Damian says no. Dick says he's gonna tell him anyway.

He says bruce is doing this because he finally wants to be happy. He wants to let himself be happy. And Damian protests, he is happy. "No." Dick returns. No he is not. He explains how Bruce is selfless. Its at his core. He is so many things, and a good dad might not be the top three, but selfish is nowhere on the list. Bruce gives and gives and gives and being happy? That isnt giving. Thats taking. For himself.

Dick understands his father in a way no one else ever will, not Jason, not Tim, not Damian, not Talia, and not even Alfred. He understands that though Bruce is bad at showing it, he cares, and he loves, and he wants everyone else to be happy even at his own expense because he is selfless and never asks to be loved in return, he just loves anyway.
