Y asks, "When are gonna eat Lobsta?" I continue my unscientific survey of local #lobster joints, asking taxi drivers, resort staff & random people we meet. It's narrowed down to Team #Langosta Loca or Team Langosta Feliz. A particularly friendly guy, Javier, gives me a business card good for buy one, get one free #margaritas. My spa attendant says you go to Loca for the views. We've been living in resort paradise so we opt for the mom & pop shop off the beaten path, off to Feliz we go. Cesar our server knows what to offer us, #threemusketeers combo w the giant local #shellfish, #giantprawns, huge #crayfish & upgraded huge local lobster. We add some apps, a bowl of #lobsterbisque, a shrimp stuffed #avocado plus a fillet of #huachinango w #salsavallarta, a light flavorful #poblano creme. Some #rice, #veggies, a basket of #tostadas, warm toasted bread & a gravy boat of garlic #butter. Oh, a trio of margs: lime, mango y strawberry. To end things, we could not resist the #cafeespanola made flaming tableside then ordered a #flan plus some #platanos con #ron just bc we could. Our favourite 2 restaurants on chenang beach in langkawi are both chineese . They are located close to each other on the western part of the main beach road. The best is Orkid Ria Seafood Restaurant. They must have at least 250 seats and the place is jampacked with people from 6pm until closing at 11pm all days of the week. They serve live lobsters, crabs, giantprawns,oysters,squid and different kind of fish. You can choose how you want it cooked. Our best was the steamed rainbowlobster with ginger and garlic and the giant butterprawns. Seafood doesnt come fresher than this.

My second choice is Happy Happy cendang beach seafood restaurant. They didn’t have as many live seafood but they made an amazing tigergrouper cooked in homemade wine. And the used the same slightly fermented wine to steam some spectaular crabs. Their braised tofu was to die for. We became friends with Wendy who worked at the restaurant and she gave us some recipes. I wanted to publish them here but my husband says that they are his recipes now and not to be made public.😳

Nowadays there are pizzahut, McDonalds,subway,KFC etc in chenang. Skip them. IF you must you can eat that crap back home
