Having Hassel's Gible teralyze first into a grass type during art classes was a uh
A choice
Usually, in scar/vio, pokémons are teralyzed into a type that removes or makes them take neutral damage from otherwise super effective hits, or to remove some of the type weaknesses (usually quad weaknesses are prioritized).
I'm going all over them just for the sake of it (I fixated on this game and my brain won't let go):
•Katy's Teddiursa becomes a bug type (bug resists fighting)
•Brassius's Sudowoodoo becomes a grass type (removes weakness to water and ground, while still knowing Rock Throw to counter fire, flying and ice)
•Iono's Mismagius becomes an electric type (she has Levitate, enough said)
•Kofu's Crabominable becomes a water type, taking neutral damage from flying, psychic, fighting and fairy, and resisting steel)
•Larry's Staraptor becomes a normal type (removing all his weaknesses beside fighting, which counters thanks to Aereal Ace)
•Tulip's Florges becomes a psychic type (super effective against poison, resists steel, all while having Moonblast against dark types)
•Ryme's Toxtricity becomes a ghost type (removes his quad weakness to ground, knows Hex to counter ghost types)
•Grusha's Altaria becomes an ice type (removes her quad weakness to ice, knows Hurricane to counter fighting types)
And we're not over yet!
•Rika's Clodsire becomes a ground type (neutral damage to psychic, has Water Absorb, knows Toxic and Protect. Over all good counter moveset)
•Poppy's Tinkaton becomes a steel type (counters fighting with Play Rough, fire with Stone Edge)
•dear old Larry's Flamigo becomes a flying type (Liquidation and Close Combat counter rock)
•Geeta's Glimmora becomes a rock type (removes quad weaknesses to ground, only making it double weakness, neutral damage from psychic, Earth Power counters steel, Play Rough counters fighting, Sludge Wave counters grass)
And now we're getting to the REAL, saucy stuff, thank you for making it this far, I swear I'll talk about Hassel now
Dear old professor Hassel has a Baxcalibur he teralyze into a dragon type (neutral damage to fighting, rock and steel, resists fire, he knows Close Combat for ice types and Glaive Rush for dragon types). And it makes perfect sense, he's a dragon type trainer after all.
However, that little, round, absolute unit he uses to show teralyzation makes no sense.
As we know, Gible's line, aside for being feared since good old Sinnoh, being speedy as hell, and having the bad habit of sweeping a ton of various teams, has a very strong weakness to ice.
I've demonstrated so far that usually, quad weaknesses are prioritized in teralyzing, and I'm sure good old Hassel is aware of this, being an Elite four.
And yet, that little guy as a grass teratype, effectively still being weak to ice. Not only that, it is now weak to flying, fire, poison, bug, ice, and it loses its ground immunity.
From a utility point of view, it's clear that it's not the most advantageous teratype to have on a team member. Then again, the little guy is probably just for show, a class mascot, the little pokemon Hassel and Brassius are raising like their own child, the choice is yours.
Anyway, the class the little fella is shown in is a teralyzation demonstration. You'd think an art nerd like Hassel would pick literally any type, after all they're all beautiful crystals, no? Hell, the dragon teratype gives the pokemon a little crystal dragon, what's cooler than that for a dragon type Elite four that ALSO teaches art?
And yet, he's a grass teratype
(At least the first time, the second lesson is just a showcase from a battle point of view. Dendra must've put some common sense into Hassel's gay ass)
Like a certain artist we know Hassel is married to, I MEAN is friend with. Sorry, I had a lapsus there
And can we please talk about how Hassel doesn't spare himself from defining the flowers beautiful? I bet they make you think of your husband, don't they?

My Pokémon Regional Forms
Fire-type Alolan Cubchoo line. The new herbs and remedies in Alola were able to finally cure Cubchoo of its constant cold. However, its immune system went overboard in its haste to get rid of the ailment ingrained in the species’ DNA and it now suffers from a permanent fever and flaming coughs. Its fur is black where it was white, orange where it was light blue, red where it was darker blue, and its nose and paw pads are pink instead of black. It has gold flame markings on its throat. It is more timid and reclusive in innate temperament than Unovan Cubchoo, mindful of the destruction caused by the fires its coughs start. Alolan Beartic has learned how to turn its coughs into proper fire breath. It is much braver and more adventurous, protecting and looking after its young with great responsibility. Like real life polar bears, it frequently swims and travels islands to find food, but rather than put extra effort into generating cold in the warm waters of Alola to freeze and cross them, its heat can simply boil fish to death around it. Its nose, paw pads, and claws have turned red and the flame markings have spread down its chest. When it becomes angry they ignite into fiery chest hair, as though to compensate for the lack of icicle beard. It’s smaller and lighter than Unovan Beartic.
Fairy/Fire-type Kalosian Litwik line. Over the years, the fact that Litwick’s cute act was a ruse became more widely known. Trainers stopped using it and non-trainers who owned it kicked it out. Lost travellers ignored it and chased it away when it came to them under the pretence of being a friendly guide. Litwick started wearing a cylindrical clay shell around itself to hide in and protect itself. But then something strange happened: it made a conscious effort to get back in the public’s good graces, painting its shell (now permanently stuck to its body with wax) lilac, decorating it with pink hearts, and not draining life energy nearly as much as it used to. It learned how to mimic the Spritzee line’s fragrance generation to gain popularity. By the time people had accepted it and were even using it as a scented candle its flame burned pink too. Kalosian Lampent and Chandelure have shiny rose gold plating. Lampent still hovers near dying people, but to bring them peace with its soothing aura. Giving it a Shiny Stone evolves it into Kalosian Chandelure, and the line are actually wary around Dusk Stones for fear they’ll revert them to Ghost types. Chandelure waves its arms to create beautiful light shows. Being close to the large pink flame blazing from its heart-shaped head calms the mind and cleanses the soul. How? Well, these Pokémon still drains soul energy, they just pick out the negative and unhealthy parts now, and their diet is supplemented by freely given love.
Normal-type Kantonian Absol. The residents of Kanto are mostly unfamiliar with Dark types, so Absol did not receive the usual suspicion and hatred from them. It no longer had any reason to stay isolated in the mountains. Prey was scarce up there anyway. Due to getting more exposure to Absol, people realized how inaccurate the Dark typing was and replaced it with the Normal type. It is very relaxed, sociable and adventurous compared to its counterparts elsewhere, living peaceful lives among humans and still strongly disliking violence. But this bliss comes at the cost of ignorance; it can no longer sense disasters with its truncated horn. It has thinner, sleeker cream fur, chocolate brown skin, green eyes, smaller claws, a floppy tail and no leg spikes.
Dark-type Unovan Skitty line. Some feral Skitty and Delcatty have adapted to the harsh city streets and adapted to the city streets and became mistrustful, fierce, hostile, and violent just to survive. They mostly survive by scavenging on scraps. Unovan Skitty is ginger where it was pink and navy blue where it was yellow. Its ears are constantly pressed against its head, giving it the look of both being aggressive and a street urchin wearing a flat cap. The three protruding hairs on its tail’s tuft are much longer and actually prehensile - it can acquire a meal with one swing of its tail through a pile of food waste. Unovan Delcatty is red where it was purple and still navy where it was yellow. The fur around its neck is angular with flaps pointing upward like a leather jacket collar and the ball-tipped hairs on it stick out to enhance Delcatty’s intimidating appearance. It can hunt for itself now. The tuft ending its tail makes an uneasy noise when shaken and is used to intimidate potential threats. Its ears are noticeably notched with darker insides. Overall, Unovan Skitty and Delcatty are bonier and scruffier.
Ghost/Dark-type Galarian Houndour line. They’ve got grown long, shaggy fur to stay warm in the colder climate. As for their Ghost typing… well, the Galarian countryside is known to contain reservoirs of mystical energy, like that of the Glimwood Tangle which affected Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash. It seems a similar phenomenon has gradually occurred here. In Galar’s competitive ecosystem, the Pokémon came to specialize more and more in scavenging the dead; drawing upon spiritual energy allows them to sense death, and the imminence of it, keenly and so hone in on corpses and the weak and injured quickly, giving them an edge on rival scavengers. Now this connection is so strong they gain a degree of vitality from the departure of a soul itself, when nearby enough to absorb the spiritual discharge. A notable behavioural difference from their counterparts in other regions is that the Galarian forms are solitary, roaming the forests and misty uplands of the region alone rather than hunting in tight-knit packs, and reacting to other individuals of their species with suspicion and hostility. Maybe competition within packs became too much of a hindrance or Ghost types are just disposed to prefer being alone or both. Of course, in a feedback loop the paranormal power and psychological leverage of the Ghost typing makes you less vulnerable on your own. They have glowing blood red eyes, to be more frightening. Their underbellies and paw pads are purple. Their chins and jaws are hairless with a bony shield to prevent clinging mess from digging their faces into carrion. Galarian Houndour has no ridges on its back or skull headgear. The bones on its ankles are replaced by white fetters that look metallic, but are intangible and glow softly in the dark. Any Ghost type will recognize they’re constructs of ghostly energy, collected from being around so much death; a boast and warning of Houndour’s abilities. A much larger version of these rings is around its neck, except the young Pokémon lacks the finesse to keep it together leading to a permanent collar of mist. If you pass through this mist, you will never forget its chill. Galarian Houndoom’s cascading fur has purple streaks and the longest locks fade into wisps and curls of that same haunting mist. Instead of a second set of cuffs, it creates white chains trailing from the hind ones. They don’t slow it down or risk getting caught because they aren’t physical, but the links rattle against each other to make an eerie noise. It has refined its collar into an encircling chain too. It is said that at least one person in earshot of its howl is sure to die soon. Despite their menace and aggressive, sly personalities, these Pokémon have a deep care for and loyalty to those they learn to trust. They’ll protect their friends with their lives. They’re often found in graveyards, dutifully guarding their former owners’ resting places and driving away any Pokémon or unfamiliar human that approaches. (Note: I came up with this line before the similar Greavard line was announced.)
Steel-type Sinnohan Cinccino line. Minccino’s fur couldn’t stay dry or conserve heat well enough in the snowy mountains, and trying to sweep its environment just made its tail wet and cold. It needed to become waterproof, better insulated and a lot tougher. So now it has a bushy wire wool tail and silver steel bristles making up its formerly soft coat. Its eyes are gold. It uses its tail to clean and polish itself to a gleam. Still evolved via a Shiny Stone, Cinccino’s sharper, thinner bristles slant down on its body to resemble a regal cloak or robes and point up on its head to resemble a crown. Its long white strands of fur have been replaced with shiny whitish chains. It will swing them to intimidate, attack and grapple enemies, pulling them close enough to deliver powerful kicks. This and its active lifestyle of climbing, running and digging on the slopes means it is bigger and more muscular than Unovan Cincinno, as opposed to Sinnohan Mincinno, which only looks bigger because of its spines and prefers letting them deter predators and hiding to fighting. Both these variants are more defensive and wary of strangers than their Unovan counterparts. They live in herds to gain strength in numbers and are very protective of each other.

Pokemon Types Pt. 3
Regarding: Type abilities, Trainer compatibility and Stigmas
Part 1 | Part 2
Psychic Types
Capable of sensing the emotions of others
Some have a rare talent/intuition for distinguishing lies from the truth. Because of this abilities, they can be accomplices for detectives in more progressive regions. Naturally, this ability can make some individuals uncomfortable.
Many stories have been spread about Psychic typings. While many have been positive in nature, there are cases in which these pokemon have used their abilities for malevolent purposes.
While they are not capable of reading people’s minds, they are able to forward images and even transfer emotions to and from themselves and another. This ability is incredibly useful for those suffering from mental illness.
They are capable of bringing ease to those who are troubled, much like Fairy types. But while Fairy types heal predominantly in a physical manner, Psychic types specialize in the psychological variety.
Psychic types tend to gravitate more towards kind, empathetic people, while they are deterred from selfish and violent personalities.
These pokemon tend to gravitate towards human psychics the most.
They tend to have higher intellects and keen decision making skills.
Ghost Types
Despite whether a ghost type pokemon is tangible or not (Banette vs Ghastly), they have the ability to ‘phase’ through Normal and Fighting type attacks. This goes both ways when it comes to Normal types.
Humans are naturally immune to Ghost-type attacks, just like Normal Types. Likewise, when a human attempts to strike a Ghost, it simply phases through if the pokemon wills it.
Ghost types and humans can make contact, however only if the ghost type makes a conscious effort to ‘phase’ shift.
While their energy attacks (such as Shadow Ball or Shadow Claw) will not harm a human or normal type, a mega Banette’s claws for example, can still be equally as devastating as a Zangoose’s claws.
Contrary to their name, Ghost-types are not always the spirits of the deceased. Many of these rumours have been spread by superstitious pokedex entries.
Much like Psychic type pokemon, Ghost type pokemon have a keen sense of other’s emotions. However, they are not capable of sensing presences or lies.
They are, however, capable of sensing if there has been a lot of death in an area. Some ghost types linger in these kinds of locations because the energy of such places attracts them.
Fairy Types
Historically, the concentration of Fairy types emerged from Kalos and Alola. Through millennia, there are many tales and beliefs surrounding this type.
Many Pokedex entries have established the bond Fairy types and humans have created throughout history beyond many purposes other than battling; those including Fairy types archetypal role as guardian, assistant, confidant, etc. (ex, Florges and Slurpuffs have been popularized as assistants, Gardevoirs and Tapus as guardians…)
Through positive stories and beliefs being passed down, a bias has created those to generally believe Fairy types' nature tend to be pleasant, caring and gentle.
Fairy types’ power have strong healing capabilities that many researchers are continuing to explore
Their unconventional and elegant move sets are popular for many Coordinators to star them in Contests.
They seem to compliment trainers of caring, innocent and endearing natures.
A lot of research must still be put into measuring their power as it can be unconventional to the scales humans base off of physical properties. (Compared to feasible properties like Water that can be measured by pressure, Fire by temperature, Electricity by Watt, etc.)
Because of the positive stigma surrounding this type, many people are naive to the Fairy type’s mischievous nature. While most of these pranks are harmless in nature and simply serve as entertainment for the Fairy pokemon, not all Fairy types are as kind and helpful as they may appear.
Dragon Types
While the reasoning is unknown, Dragon types have never been recorded to stop growing (but they do slow upon maturity). With age, they progressively get larger and, some say, more powerful.
Because of their historical relevance in royalty and kingdoms, especially in Unova, Dragon types are perceived as a pinnacle of power and strength and are highly respected. However, their power has also caused the type to be feared.
Legends and mythology surrounding the Dragon type are very prominent in both the Unovan and Galarian regions.
Due to their tenacious and often violent natures, Dragon types are renowned as the most difficult type to train. While some species, such as Dragonite, are loyal and friendly towards humans in general, many other dragon types are not so and require much training.
Capturing a mature dragon type in the wild and attempting to train it is highly ill-advised.
Poison Types
While they are often unable to provide a cure, Poison types have a natural ability to detect the ailments of an individual before symptoms begin to show. But because of their ability to inflict harmful poison as well, many tend to avoid them as their venom and poison can very quickly prove fatal to humans.
Many prefer darker environments, and many make their homes in junkyards or by landfills because such environments compliment their energy. However this isn’t always the case.
While a considerable amount of Poison types prefer unsanitary environments are pokemon such as Trubbish and Grimer, other pokemon such as Zubat and Salandit despise these places.
There’s a poor stereotype that surrounds Poison types that many people consider them violent, aggressive, untrustworthy or vile in nature. Many have kept this in mind due to Poison types being a popular choice amongst criminal groups and partnership with grunts. (They’ve become infamous mostly due to impacts of Team Rocket in the past)
Many trainers are not in the wrong to be wary of them as Poison types are considered to be one of the most dangerous types to be around humans. Moves like Toxic can kill a human in a matter of minutes.
Because of these stigmas put up regarding Poison types and the precautions around them; it is uncommon for people to specialize or have an affinity for them.
However, despite the negativity surrounding the Poison type, they have proved incredibly useful in the production of medicines. While something may be poisonous in a certain amount, a Poison type pokemon is able to tell when the poison will be ineffective, and thus, useful in the production of an antidote.
Bug Types
Bug types, while often considered ‘creepy’ due to their physical characteristics, play a vital role in the ecosystem and pollination. Without them, the world as we know it would not exist.
These pokemon have an affinity for nature, and are especially keen in sensing the health of the forests. They are even capable of detecting whether soil is more fertile or not.
Bug types are known for their quick growth rates and adaptability, making them ideal partners for young trainers.

If Kicklia senses the movements of an on coming threat, it will often violently lash out a barrage of kicks and punches at them until they are unconscious.
Gardevalor uses its powerful attacks to protect its trainer from those it sees as dangerous. It’s said that it’s glare alone is enough to paralyze someone with fear.
The two pseudo-hands extending from Mega Gardevalor’s belt have sharp, pointed claws that can slice through solid steel. Anyone who gets too close to it or it’s trainer will be targeted by said hands.
Upon evolution, Gallash gains sharp blades on its arms that can easily tear through flesh and bone. It uses them to protect its trainer.
The combination of the blades on Mega Gallash’s arms and the one made of energy emitted from its belt make it a very deadly opponent. When overwhelmed, they will recklessly slash at anything near it with all 3 blades.

@bnjmin    sent    ❛    🍍 (obligatory to send this one) 🍏 🍎🍊🥝 for all    ❜
⤑   FRUIT HEADCANONS
you’re really making me add this to a read more, huh.
🍍  :    how comfortable is my muse in their body? how do they feel about their height,  weight,  strength,  and body type?  how important is being attractive to them?
raleigh: yeah, he’s not. he hates looking at a mirror. out of his insecurities, his height gets to him the worse. while barely below average at 5′8, he becomes one of the shorter men within a group. doesn’t help when his younger brother became taller than him or even his youngest sister being taller in heels. he was also the weakest of his siblings when they got older, though he doesn’t make too much effort gaining muscle. only enough to keep lean and not too tired looking. despite his insecurities about his appearance, he is low maintenance when it to looking attractive. in fact, his insecurities block how others consider him attractive, puzzled when someone does mention such; it’s just pity for him. so yeah, the most insecure about his body but the least caring about attractiveness.
liz: yeah, very comfortable. too comfortable. a big portion of her attire is meant to show off her body, knowing she looks good... and people definitely pay attention to that.  still, like raleigh, she does have some insecurity about her height. instead of drowning in said insecurity, she alters how people view her height, to the point people blink at figuring out she’s 5′2; it’s the same at minimal curves, considering she enjoys viewing curves on other women. she does the most to portray her attractive features through her attire and confidence, knowing it pays off. but, again, it’s less on insecurities or even as much on manipulation anymore; it’s simply a preference.
jamie: despite his job as a fitness trainer, he’s smaller than his football years. he won’t gain those muscles of his college prime again, and he does look back with a twang of guilt, even if some of it wasn’t in his control. after his injury, he lost a lot of weight he’s beginning to gain back. he also had a smaller figure during his teenage years that brought insecurities, especially his braces, until he grew several inches and boarder shoulders right before his senior year. he also made a drastic change in his outfits to better fit his fitness now rather than the southern style of his former years. he’s the most cautious on his attire because of his insecurities, despite acting confident about it.
maddie: due to societal standards on plus size, she does have insecurities about her weight. but even jamie & liz, one in fitness and the other much smaller, ensure her she doesn’t need to worry about such; she’s just board built and curved like a spencer. but her conservative clothes, especially compared to her sister, hints of her hiding herself, though her personality outshines those internal feelings. she can feel insecure of her height as well, since it throws of men shorter than her, but she’s gotten more comfortable with that aspect of her.
🍏  :    how stable is my muse’s physical health?  do they go for regular or semi-regular checkups by a physician?  do they have any diagnosed illnesses and / or take any medication?  how often do they get sick?
raleigh: unless his slight limp from his leg injury counts, then he doesn’t have any health issues, and never really did. so far, his seasonal allergies haven’t occurred in la, though he has his allergy medicine just in case he gets stuffy like he did in the carolina autumn. otherwise, he’s quite healthy. besides being, well, a surgeon, he does get checkups.
liz: generally, she’s healthy. she may get the sniffles or a cold during the winter seasons, but nothing she can’t recover from by the next couple days. however, her reproductive organs cannot reproduce.  she was diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency at 16, since she never experienced her natural period. the doctors are not sure the source of the condition, though it’s potentially a genetic defect once amenorrhea and/or being underweight was ruled out. so she had taken estrogen & continues taking calcium and vitamin d supplements to avoid bone loss. besides more common dryness during sex that lube fixes, she doesn’t think often about the condition; she’s never wanted children to begin with and knew her career would define her anyways.
jamie: oh boy. so his childhood was bombarded with health issues. the main two were chicken pox & tonsillitis, which weakened his immune system. once his tonsils were removed, his health started to get better, where he was able to stay outside without high risk of getting sick. still, his immune system isn’t the best, and will get a sinus infection or the flu (if he doesn’t get his shot in time) each year. then, there’s his concussions, his single ear deafness, and other injuries. throughout horseback riding, he has broken a wrist and a couple concussion. for football, there’s his rotator cuff, sprained ankles, and his deafness in his right ear, though he’s been hoh since the fall from the cliff with raleigh. the lining of his stomach is also weak from alcohol, so he’s careful about any foods that could erupt it. despite having the healthiest lifestyle (now), he’s the least healthiest.
maddie: she had appendicitis, and had her appendix removed. but other than that, she’s been pretty healthy, similar to raleigh. out of the four, though, she goes to doctors least, and haven’t been to a checkup for awhile.
🍎  :    how stable is my muse’s mental health?  have they been diagnosed with any mental illnesses and  /  or conditions?  do they have any undiagnosed mental illnesses and  /  or conditions?  do they or should they attend therapy?
they all need therapy.
raleigh: besides extreme insecurities and bouts of depression, he’s pretty stable. his stress levels can get high, which heightens his insecurities and anxiety about how other people view, which spark his depression. he has been diagnosed with depression during med school, and goes back & forth to therapy when he feels worse about it. but he’s done better since he has a more stable life, instead of the turbulence during his parents’ divorce.
liz: most of liz’s mental state come from her fears. while, yes, she is scared of snow & water, those are two factors that trigger her claustrophobia; elevators and not being able to see a way out of tight spaces trigger it as well. the source came from her nearly drowning in the lake as a child, and has been struggling since then. she has gone to therapy for her infertility as a teenager, but not much happened during the sessions with the minimal talking on liz’s side. but she should go back to have someone to guide her about opening up & her trust issues, since it does cause issues in relationships.  and, no, while particular on cleaning, she does not have ocd.
jamie: his multiple of concussion enhance his recklessness & behavior. and his alcohol intake did alter his decision making & temper as well. he was diagnosed with alcoholism, and went to aa meetings for a couple years. he still goes to therapy, though continues to have anger issues. when he was a child, people did think he had adhd, once he gotten out of his shell from the health issues, but doctors did not think he had adhd & was just simply hyper.
maddie: she’s the most stable of them all. she’s open about her feelings to people; she probably opens up too much. and, while she can get sad or mad about certain aspects of her life, it doesn’t halt her life. she doesn’t go to therapy, but she’ll do fine at it when talking in general helps her.
🍊  :    does my muse desire romance?  is it something they would actively seek out,  or prefer to happen more  ‘  naturally?  ’  what is their love life like?  do they have any exes or past flings,  or crushes?
raleigh: it’s less about romance than having a partner when raising a family that will stay long term. because he really wants a family and kids. which, due to his clueless, the romance will have to happen naturally and the other person has to seek him out. he has dated here and there, but nothing that amounted to anything beyond a first date; sometimes, he’ll go get coffee with someone and not realize it was a date until a week later, so... but he does have two exs, one in high school and another from undergrad, which is mentioned in this timeline. and he did have a crush on his friend tessa, but it died down when they both decided to remain friends.
liz: no. not romance, and 9/10 she ghosts someone the minute they think anything between her is getting serious, with examples in her timeline. it’s the opposite of one night stands, she does not seek out romance at all. gross. she doesn’t have time for that.
jamie: similar to raleigh, he wants a family in the near future, though wants to settle into his life a little bit more, knowing how rough his past will work to a future spouse. he’s a good 50/50 on seeking out dates and letting it happen more naturally; it will be more naturally with men while he controls the flirtation with women. he has several exs and old flings and crushes, but the most noticeable is lillian irene, a dance major he dated throughout college... even if he wasn’t the most faithful and she deserved so much better than him; still, she helped him sober up even after the officially broke up their relationship. oh, and his main celebrity crushes as a teenager were britney spears  & jennifer beals... who lillian irene had close resemblance to...
maddie: she enjoys dating and being romantic, but it’s something that’s casual as she’s still exploring the world. while she seeks out dates, she also seeks out the friends and just enjoys knowing other people. she doesn’t understand how liz can have one night stands, since sex for maddie means close attachment and romance.
🥝  :    does my muse have any  ‘  unusual  ’  habits, interests,  and  /  or talents?  do they hide it,  or are they proud of it?
raleigh: he has some obscure science fiction books that have a special place on his bookshelf, but those have a personal connection to him coming from his piano instructor / role model. but a lot of his interests are pretty mainstream in terms of star wars & whatnot, even if they were as much as a child.
liz: her most unusual will have to be her random construction projects. this started with raleigh’s legos as a kid, and of course expanded to her engineering career. but she still have her designs of buildings or computer codes or airplanes in her free time, and, once she has the space for it, will experiment on building her own car engine or whatever she can assemble in a garage and may get a few patens in her later life. while not too unusual, it’s more of a shock that someone as “feminine” as her would do something so “masculine.”  because, while she doesn’t hide it, she doesn’t promote it either.
jamie: he dances, or he can dance well. which makes sense, with his ex being a professional dancer & needing to impress her. but, still, it wasn’t hard to get him to share that interest. even before lillian irene, he would sneak into hidden places to figure out the choreography for music videos, especially britney spears. of course he hides it, outside of appropriate moments of dancing with someone on the dancefloor. but he’ll just pretend he doesn’t know the difference first and fifth position in ballet or that he knows the final dance to flashdance.
maddie: she often paints on jean pockets or vinyl records rather than a tradition canvas. considering there’s a market for such, it’s not too unusual and can make money from it. but she purposefully doesn’t like using traditional canvases for her artwork. also, her knowing how to play the harp stands out when she points out which music instruments she knows how to play.

Okay, yes, I really, really love KIJA, so it is interesting: if you have any headkanon's about it?
I really, really love Kija too. (*≧ω≦*) And oh my gosh, headcanons! A long time ago I used to post more, but I-I-I don’t think I’ve ever been asked for headcanons before?? It’s like I’m branching out from the fanart world lately. XD Well, actually I have branched out before with a little fanfic here and there, most notably one about the Hakuryuu Village leading to Kija’s birth. When I started it I was inspired by @itsomgitsgreenblogging‘s backstory fic about Shin-ah and @mcgrillzdumpinc‘s backstory fic about Jaeha, and I thought, yeah, I could totally write one for Kija. Although I did have that one planned out, I wound up losing steam for it after a few chapters, so I only posted the prequel which fleshed out the village setting a bit more. So these are some Hakuryuu Village and Kija headcanons. 1. Hakuryuu Village is a geneticist’s research paradise, because the efforts to preserve the Hakuryuu bloodline and the distinct preference for white hair in all the normal people led to a bit of an inbreeding problem. They started to realize this, so they kept close track of everyone lineage so as to enforce rules about how close of a relative you’re allowed to marry. There are two cultural side effects to this. First, everyone can proudly tell you their closest relation to a Hakuryuu and which generation Hakuryuu he was. Second, since having children out of wedlock due to uncertain parentage is a major taboo, there is a general attitude that if a man sleeps with a woman, he must take responsibility by marrying her.
2. This means that there’s a very, very strong incentive for women to woo whichever man they want to be married to. And since most women would dream of the honor of being married to Hakuryuu, there’s a strong incentive for them to try to seduce him, or at least start rumors that they had relations with Hakuryuu. Hence, Kija has found himself targeted by many of the village’s more aggressive women. 3. When Kija was a newborn, he probably had to put up a fight to survive. Aside from the back injury itself, it probably resulted in him losing a lot of weight due to the difficulty in feeding him as it healed. There was probably a lot of concern at first about whether or not he would even be able to walk. 4. One of the biggest threats to Hakuryuu Village is disease. Aside from the merchants, most of the villagers have never been exposed to many illnesses, so they have low immunity. What’s more, if there is some kind of outbreak, their secluded location makes it difficult to seek medicine, especially in winter. Since we know Kija’s mother is dead and he does not seem to have any recollection of her (the only canon glimpse we’ve gotten was when he was an infant), I was going to write it into my fic that she falls ill during an epidemic that sweeps the village while Kija is 2 or 3 three years old. By then he’s already been instilled with the idea that he can use his claws to fight and protect people from harm, so when Granny tries to explain to him that his mother may die soon, he offers to fight off whatever is hurting her. She explains that he can’t help against small things, like the small thing inside of her that’s hurting her. 5. And that is what leads to Kija’s fear of little creepy crawly things, even though he doesn’t actually remember being so freaked out about little things inside his mother that he is powerless against.6. Granny originally developed love potions to help a previous Hakuryuu with impotence. Har har. She thought of other ways to make love potions long before Kija was even born, but development of the Love Scale only started recently. Kija of course had no idea. 7. Granny originally developed beauty products because she wanted to maintain her own beauty (hence, for a centenarian she’s looking pretty good), and then those became one of the special products the merchants would sell to raise money for the village. The secret ingredient is water from the natural spring where Hakuryuu bathes. Again, Kija had no idea. 8. Kija grew up training so that he would be ready if he ever needed to serve Hiryuu, so although he’s not as buff as Shin-ah or Jaeha (Jaeha, what the hell, how much time did you spend working out to get those abs? Is Gigan a personal trainer or something?), he’s still in very, very good shape. He needs decent core strength to make good use of his dragon arm, after all. 9. The reason he faints so often with fevers when he first starts traveling with Yona is only partly due to overexertion. Like when his dragon hand got burning hot during his initiation, the Hakuryuu ghosts haunting him are burning with passion to serve their master. In other words, those fevers are the Hakuboos being over-excited. 10. It’s not only that Kija is stubborn about always being ready to serve his master, but Kija flat-out forgets he’s injured sometimes. Yoon yelling at him to rest is usually a better reminder than the pain itself. 11. Kija can appreciate beautiful people, and he’s extremely proud of being Hakuryuu, but he doesn’t have a drop of vanity about his own appearance. 12. After all of Yoon’s threats to Zeno about forcing him to wear a grass skirt if he keeps ruining his clothes, Kija thinks this rule applies to everyone and is very afraid to tell Yoon that he’s running out of outfits (they get ripped and stained pretty easily…). Should the day come that he ruins his last one, he plans on deeply apologizing and accepting the grass skirt as punishment. 13. He offered his clothes to Zeno, but Zeno refused, saying he was too short for them. Kija has offered them to Jaeha too on laundry day, but for whatever reason, Jaeha has refused too. Kija’s not sure why.14. Kija didn’t even notice when Jaeha referred to himself as the big brother (in the most recent chapter while talking with Shin-ah), because Kija thinks they’ve all been using brotherly terms all along, even if not directly addressing each other that way.15. At this point in the manga, Kija has matured enough to recognize that he feels a bit jealous of Hak for how special he is to Yona, but he probably still sees this as his desire as her dragon to be close to her instead of reading into his feelings romantically. In his rational mind, he knows that being her dragon does not entitle him to any special privilege, and he has no reason to feel negative about it, especially since Hak is someone he cares about a lot too. If and when Hak and Yona ever openly become a couple, he’s going to be exceedingly and honestly happy for them–tears streaming down his face in congratulations and everything–but he’ll be troubled about why it hurts so much too.
