It’s odd ; Mycroft has stared down the barrel of a .45 only a handful of times, yet been on its opposite end even fewer. The novel experience should reach out into his innards, scoop them out, and splatter them across the floor for her to step on with perfectly-shined oxfords.

It doesn’t.

( Because Mycroft is keenly aware of his value, even if he never sees fit to babble about it or carry neon signs on his back like the latest parvenu. He had nothing to prove. And his value? Is quite beyond this. )

What is your greatest fear?

harry sighed, he didn’t want to open himself up. fearing is human — fear is what keeps us grounded, yet he couldn’t understand what had his boggart become. at a young age, a small and stuttering georgie would say he was afraid of of spiders. maybe even of the darkness of his room. he didn’t know when it had turned into a feeling rather than a thing. it was a natural process, though.  ❛  my father.  ❜  

that was the only answer that came into his mind. his father, who beated him up because the sun had risen and, again, because it had set. his father, whose gaze was angrily inquisitive — and that only sent him one message. don’t fucking stutter. when he was too young to comprehend, georgie used to draw his dad as a monster. h…h-he only shouts at me and beats me up, he said to his mom. there wasn’t much she could do either, and, now, harry understood — she feared him as much as the boy did.
