Thief’s Apprentice: Guards
The guards of Veilheim are friendly and helpful, and you are meant to feel like a vile little creature as you cause problems in the city. There are ten guard regiments, one for each district. Guard ranks are indicated by how many free fingers they have, and if anybody else wears quilted clothes, they will get arrested for impersonating a guard. Due to ancient deals, patrolling guards must wear violin-shaped badges containing The Necromancer’s soul even though everyone hates him and he has no authority in Veilheim.
Even by revenant standards, guards tank enormous amounts of damage, and if they have fingers they will kick your ass. At any given time, most guards are doing accounting for other government departments and running their own private safe deposit business, so it’s very unclear how many guards there actually are in Veilheim.
Guards dress very similar to the Sidrans who took over Veilheim after the Post-Alexandrian Ophtha ruling class fled when the plague reached the city, because even after 700 years, wearing thick layers of fabric and carrying super long polearms continues to be the best way of safely dealing with rampaging revenants.
Guards must wear badges of The Necromancer because if they refused to wear them, he’ll just show up in Veilheim whenever he wants. Is it wise to give The Necromancer surveillance over the city? No. Could The Necromancer use the badges to take control of the entire guard force? Probably. The Necromancer mostly uses the badges to yell at people, but they contain so much Death Magic they basically function as defibrillators for revenants. If imbedded in a weak-willed madman, the badge will compel them to go into the wastelands where The Necromancer may steal their bones, but it also gets them out of the city.
Lowest ranking guards have no free fingers and thus can’t carry anything. They are mostly assigned to menial tasks like being roadblocks, and are usually newly dead. Ostensibly, their faces are exposed to appear more approachable to the living, but given that it extremely doesn’t work, the true purpose is in the event that a guard goes mad, their heads can easily be knocked off.
The next highest ranking guard has one free finger and can hold their signature weapon: the star mace. Being super long both allows the guard to be safe while impaling someone on the sharp end, and also generates enough force from falling over to incapacitate most revenants. A common guard strategy is to form a wall and everyone slowly advances while bashing people with star maces. Getting maced leaves distinctive injuries that can later be identified even if you escape the scene.
The guard rank above that has three fingers. At this point, we start seeing skeleton guards, who have drastically lowered strength for obvious reasons, but can operate in the Living District since their plague transmission has been reduced. Here we see a catch pole and a shorter star mace for fighting in buildings and other close spaces.
With four fingers, officer guards are now dextrous enough to do paperwork. As you may have noticed, their fabric armor is more ceremonial than practical, but given that they survived the last three ranks, officers will kick your ass. All potential guard candidates are taught to read and write, but if they become illiterate after they die, they can never advance beyond three fingers.
District guards, in charge of an entire regiment, have five fingers. There are 10 of them and they all look different, but for demonstration purposes we only see The Wasteland Guard. Guards in the wastelands don’t have to wear badges because The Necromancer is there all the time already. The Wasteland Guard believes to have pared away anything and everything from itself that gets in the way of guarding Veilheim from outside threats, but its colleagues are annoyed because The Wasteland Guard causes tons of managerial problems and piles paperwork onto wasteland officers and other district guards because it would rather solemnly stalk the wastelands.
Master Guard has six fingers. Wearing all 10 guard regiment colors is useful for his main responsibility of training future guards while they are still alive, who can more easily discern movements of different colored limbs, but by dead fashion standards, it makes him an inconsiderate asshole. By being gigantic and standing on a roof, he can demonstrate moves to the living from another district without physically being there. Master Guard also runs internal investigations on other guards, but his most important role is eating all the leftover meat before it goes bad and/or comes back to life. If the guards don’t eat their way through their entire weekly meat ration, their next ration will be reduced. Master Guard can also get out of his giant body and into other guard uniforms, giving a nasty surprise to anyone who expects to smack down a two finger but it’s actually Master Guard and he kicks your ass.
Guard Captain is the ultimate leader of all guards, but loopholes out of wearing badges because she isn’t technically a guard. Post Event 3 Moratorium prevents me from talking any more about her.

Best cardio workouts for weight loss (How to loose upto 50 pounds in a month)
People all over the world are now fighting against overweight. It is too much dangerous that can lead to several disease. But there's nothing to worry about. It's pretty easy to loose weight at home with cardio workouts.
There's quiestions that might come up into your head that, Is it true that the most effective way to burn fat is through cardio? What cardio is best for losing weight? How to loose weight with cardio exercise at home? Today I’ll be covering all this questions and some extra benefits including weight loss in this article.
What is cardio?
Cardio is physical exercise to raise your heart rate. Traditionally, cardio includes running, cycling, swimming, and other aerobic training. However, weight-bearing exercises are also great example of cardio. Some of you may find hard practicing cardio at gym or outdoor. So, here I got the best cardio workouts at home
The key rule of cardio training at home is a fast pace of exercise and a training duration of at least 30-40 minutes. Ideally, use the stationary bike as a warm-up, followed by a full circle workout.
Recall that circular training involves performing the exercises of the program one after the other, with a minimum of rest time. Despite the fact that the exercises themselves are quite light, the fastest possible rhythm turns the workout into full-fledged cardio.
Best cardio for weight loss at home:
There has plenty of cardio workout which helps to burn fat. Among them the the ones that i explained here are the simplest, yet efficient and easy to boost weight loss. All of this can be performed alone at home.
Burpee
Burpee is one of most effective cardio exercises all over the world to burn fat as it uses the whole body. Studies have shown that burpees burn upto 50% more fat than any other cardio exercises. It boosts metaboilsm which helps to burn more calorie throughout the day. To perform a perfect effective burpee start from a squat position with hands on the floor in front of you. Kick your feet back to a push up position. Immediately return your feet to the squat position. Leap up as high as possible from the squat position.
Swing
This cardiovascular exercise is another of the most common and effective. And it is perfect for working the gluteal and quadriceps muscles. Also increase your heart rate to the maximum. It consists of taking a weight with one or two hands at the height of our shoulders and passing it under the legs (which should be slightly apart). The movements must be constant and keeping the back as straight as possible at all times. It is a difficult movement to perform at first, since it is not a common movement that our body is used to, but it is undoubtedly one of the most effective.
Shadow boxing
Get into a guard position and begin to simulate a fight with hitting and dodging as if you were in a real fight. Do it rhythmically and without hitting the air too hard to avoid injury. It 's a perfect cardio workout at home for weight loss. It works your legs and arms, and you should include it in any bodyweight workout to get some extra benefits. Shadow boxing is a sneaky killer cardio workout. While burning upward of 400 calories per hour, shadow boxing also helps you develop foot speed, hand coordination, and technique. And best of all, it can be done anywhere, anytime for a quick and heart-pumping fight session.
Did you ever heard about the liquid weight loss tonic? Here’s the great Okinawa flat belly tonic which is worth a try
Box jumps or jump box
stand in front of the box, gain momentum and jump on top of the box. You can help your arms to jump higher and not lose your balance. This is another effective exercise. Because the simplest exercise is usually the most effective. Jump box increases your heart rate, challenges you to do it more and more complicated, higher and more times. This is why jump box is the best at home cardio. Moreover, you can do this exercise with the Tábata method, so it will be more fat burner. 2-3 sets of 15-25 jumps can bring the best output for far fat burn.
Jump rope
Go back to childhood! One of the best cardiovascular exercises to lose weight is to jump rope! Not only does it burn tons of calories, but it helps increase bone density, strengthens the legs, and strengthens the heart. If you incorporate a few minutes of rope jumping into your exercise routine, you will be able to reach your weight loss goal without even realizing it. Not in vain is it used so much in boxing training, it is the best way to keep those extra kilos at bay without having to change category. Done correctly, the impact on the joints is less than running. Jump rope burns almost 400-700 calories per hour.
Jumping with clap hands
You can start your home cardio workout with clap jumps. Starting position will be standing upright, feet shoulder-width apart, arms along the body, stomach pulled in. While inhaling, in a jump, spread your legs to the sides, at the same time making a clap with your hands over your head. As you exhale, return to the starting position. 12-15 repetitions in a fast rhythm.
Squats with support on the wall
After completing the previous cardio exercise, without resting and keeping your heart rate high, do a static exercise to strengthen your leg muscles. Hold the squat position against the wall, keeping your abs and glutes tight. 30-45 seconds motionless
Squats with body weight
Continue without rest to squats with arms extended forward. Starting position should be standing upright, feet shoulder-width apart, hands on the belt. As you exhale, lower yourself down, as if sitting on a chair (to observe the correct technique, you can use a chair or fitball) - your arms are extended forward. Go back up, repeat 12-15 repetitions in a fast rhythm.
Squats with extra weight
Hold an extra weight at shoulder height and, with your eyes and chest forward, do the squat slowly. It burns lower abdomen fat better. If squats are already a great exercise to crush calories, imagine if you also added extra weight with a dumbbell or anything. The effect is greater and also your legs and buttocks will be toned in a little while.
Push-ups from the floor
The starting position is a plank on outstretched arms. As you inhale, slowly lower yourself down - hands at waist level, elbows at an angle of 45 degrees to the body. The press is tense, the spine is straight. As you exhale, push your arms up sharply (this will increase cardio efficiency), then linger at the top point. Repeat 12-15 times.
Push-ups with body rotation
Advanced exercise, suitable for people with a good level of physical fitness. When performed at the end of the workout, it allows you to achieve maximum cardio effect. First, do a regular push-up from the floor, then push off and raise your hand up, keeping your body stretched out in a line.
Reverse push-ups
Upper Body Strengthening Exercise - Triceps, deltoids, upper back, and upper chest are the main stressors. When doing cardio, focus on pushing your body forcefully upward, trying to fully extend your arms. 12-15 reps at a fast pace.
Static crunches on the press
Starting position - lying on your back, legs bent at the knees and standing on the floor, arms extended up. As you exhale, by activating the abdominal muscles, begin to stretch forward, lifting your upper back off the floor. Hold in the top position, keeping your abs tense. 2-3 sets of 30-45 seconds
Running in place with high leg raise
This is one of the most powerful cardio exercises in a home workout program. Make alternating lifts of the legs bent at the knees as high as possible - for balance, helping with your arms. Keep your abs tense, and watch your inhalation and exhalation cycles, trying to breathe faster.
Horizontal running
Accept the plank position and pull the knees to the chest, quickly changing from one leg to the other. The body forms a straight line, the back does not bend or arch. If it gets harder for you try pulling the knee to the chest in the bar. It’s good for thigh fat burn. Try 1-2 sets of 15-20 steps tor better result.
Lunges
Starting position is standing upright, feet shoulder-width apart, hands on the belt. As you inhale, take a step forward while bending your knee. Make sure that the cabinet remains upright. As you exhale, come back, then repeat for the other leg.
Side plank on the elbow
This exercise helps to strengthen the transverse muscles of the core, as well as the muscles of the buttocks and thighs. When doing it, make sure that the elbow is located exactly under the shoulder joint - this will help to avoid injury. Don't drop your hips down or lift them up too high. 2-3 sets of 30-45 seconds.
Effect of cardio on weight loss:
The mechanism by which regular cardio training leads to weight loss is not at all burning fat or calories, but rather building the body's ability to build available energy stores for exercise. This energy is taken from carbohydrates and stored in glycogen.
In order for the body to use fat for fuel, it is necessary to first empty the carbohydrate stores stored in the muscles in the form of glycogen. Therefore, cardio for weight loss should be long (at least 30-40 minutes), or should be done immediately after strength training.
The most effective cardio for burning fat is a long session with a moderate intensity. In this case, the burning of fat and the consequent loss of weight are part of the recovery period after exercise, which is achieved exclusively in the case of a general lack of calories in the diet. That is why proper nutrition and diet always take first place in the fight for an athletic body.
Benefits of cardio exercise:
Keeps the heart in shape
Your heart is a muscle like any other; so to keep it healthy and strong you have to work on it! By increasing the heart rate in a constant and controlled way, the heart is strengthened and the risk of heart disease decreases. To improve overall cardiovascular health, the American Heart Association recommends a minimum of 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise.
Improves mood
Cardiovascular exercise causes the brain to release endorphins, the chemicals responsible for balancing your mood and keeping depressive thoughts at bay. For many people, cardio training is the first step in fighting depression and fighting stress. Even a brisk walk can perceptibly improve your mood.
Strengthens the immune system
Unless you run when the pollution is very high - a risk more than usual if you train in large cities, before exercising outdoors, check the pollution levels. There is no danger that cardio training will damage the immune system. On the contrary, cardiovascular exercise in most environments strengthens your immune system, helping you lower the risk of bacterial infection and prevent disease. But if you go with the indoor cardio exercise then nothing is more better then cardio exercise to strengthen the immune system.
Improves blood circulation
By increasing blood circulation, you help your body better eliminate toxins and reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack. It also contributes to reducing the cases of chronic venous insufficiency, the inability of the veins to carry out the adequate return of blood to the heart, which causes it to accumulate in the legs, giving rise to different ailments. In addition, cardio levels the level of insulin in the blood (responsible for the onset of diabetes) and the production of proteins that fight against bad cholesterol that accumulates in the arteries.
When doing cardio at home, the rhythm of the exercise plays a role. The faster, the more calories are burned. In addition, the level of physical fitness affects - in particular, the ability to consciously involve muscles in work. On average, doing the above cardio workout program burns between 400 and 900 kcal per hour. If you complete the exercise program quickly enough, repeat it again. In order to train in a more active mode (and therefore increase your heart rate), before starting your workout, make yourself a strong cup of coffee. Due to its stimulating effect, caffeine increases the effectiveness of cardio, helping to burn more calories.
The conclusion
Cardio has become one of the most effective way to loose weight. Many weight loss trainer are now suggesting cardio over any other exercises or weight loss program because of it's easiness and efficiency. I hope all these information is useful to you and also that you have learned something new! But remember the most important thing, you won't loose a single pound of weight untill you get into it your weight loss program. So, whatever is your plan to loose weight, cardio exercise or any other practices, you start doing now from today. The more time you take to start the long it will take you to loose weight. And the last thing, you can comment which program you are going to follow or you can ask any quiestion you have in your mind.

How I Letterboxd #7: Cinemonster.
Hooptober’s head honcho opens up to Jack Moulton about his love for Texas-born horror director Tobe Hooper, the joys of running Letterboxd’s most beloved Hallowe’en community challenge, and the “terrifying, magical” experience of seeing Frankenstein at the age of four.
“You can’t spell October without Tobe.” —Cinemonster
Cinemonster, known to his family and friends as David Hood, is a restaurateur in Pittsburgh by day, and the head honcho of Hooptober by night. Now in its seventh year, the horror film challenge sees participants set their own 31-day viewing agenda of 31 films, curated according to a list of criteria set by its creator.
‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ (1974), directed by Tobe Hooper.
With over 5,000 films logged on Letterboxd and a growing collection of posters, DVDs, Blu-rays, laser discs and film memorabilia, Cinemonster is a literal monster of cinema. He has created more than 500 lists, including a ton of year, director, actor, actress, franchise and memoriam lists.
What brought you to Letterboxd? I found Letterboxd while I was doing a Google search for a horror film that I had forgotten the name of. I ran into a list that Hollie Horror had made and wound up starting a profile and it went from there. That would have been a little over seven years ago.
How freakin’ cool is last year’s Hallowe’en Easter egg with the dripping blood from our logo? [Pro members get this added to their pages by mentioning #horror in their bio.] I’m a fan.
Unfortunately I haven’t heard of a single one of your four profile favorites! What’s urging you to highlight these films? They are just lesser-seen and have something good or great about them. Eyeball is a great little underseen Umberto Lenzi film. Death Machines is an awkward, weird and wonderful film with kung fu and blood. Massacre at Central High is one of my favorite films and sadly lacking a disc release of any kind—anyone who has seen Heathers will recognize a couple of things if they watch it. Rituals is a criminally underseen stalked in the woods film from the ’70s.
In this this list description, you explain how the original Frankenstein (1931) hooked you into horror at four years old. Can you describe what you most remember about that life-changing experience? It was both magical and terrifying. The space, the creature, the little girl. I had trouble sleeping for weeks afterwards. No matter where I am in the world, if there is a screening of Frank, I’ll go. I watched most of the major universals by the time I was six or seven. I saw Alien and Jaws 2 with my folks and those stuck with me. Cable and a local UHF station showing Hammer films on Saturdays are what really allowed me to get sucked in.
‘Frankenstein’ (1931), directed by James Whale.
The horror films of 1980 and 1981 were the most impactful and are the ones that mean the most to me to this day; Fade to Black, Night School, Motel Hell, The Fog, Alligator, Altered States, Terror Train, Death Ship, Scanners, An American Werewolf in London, The Howling, The Funhouse, Dead & Buried, Hell Night, Wolfen, Ghost Story, The Pit and Evilspeak. I saw all of them five to ten-plus times on cable as a kid. They’re still all high on my list. I am glad that Fade to Black is on Shudder. People need to watch it. More relevant now than then.
What exactly provoked you to start Hooptober seven years ago? I moved into an old spooky house and had a backlog of Blu-rays to watch and the 4K of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was about to come out. I’d done some interactive stuff on Letterboxd previously and had a decent amount of people involved. I was also at a point in my life where 31 films in 31 days is tough, as it is for a lot of us now. So I thought ‘Why don’t I do something that starts a little early, clears some of my list out, and has some parameters that don’t feel like I am handing out an assignment?’ I grew up in Texas, Tobe [Hooper] is close to my heart, and with all the Hooper I owned and the 4K coming out, I decided to christen it with his name. You can’t spell October without Tobe.
What’s the most members that have participated in a Hooptober? The number of people who participated was a little more than I expected, but that wasn’t what I was surprised by. I never thought of it as a recurring event until I started to hear from people the following summer about ‘the next one’. I just kinda chuckled after about a dozen people had asked and I said out loud to no one, “I guess I’m doing another one of these”. We are well over 700 this year, and still climbing.
‘Fade to Black’ (1980), directed by Vernon Zimmerman.
Where do you get the ideas for the rules for films to consider watching? At this point, I look back at past years so that I don’t repeat myself. I look to the current year for inspiration. Is there a film from a sub-genre that was prominent? Was it a strong year for output from women, Mexico, Asia, Black filmmakers, something cultural, and so on? I may focus on effects creators, an actor or writer on a whim. I try to keep an eye out for blind spots I haven’t covered. Shudder, archive.org, the big streamers are all resources. Sadly, rarefilmm no longer exists.
In last year’s interview with Merry-Go-Round magazine, you mentioned plans to turn Hooptober into a film festival. How’s that going? In a post-pandemic world, how can we keep independent niche film festivals thriving? The world has not been agreeable, obviously. I’m not even sure how viable something like that will be next year. I’ve been taking a look at streaming options. Post-pandemic will require more creativity and outside-the-box thinking, and will probably continue to feed some drive-ins. Been a while since more than a handful of people wanted to put money into a drive-in, which is nice to see.
I’m going to do a tweet along to The Witch Who Came From the Sea in October, and I’ll give you an exclusive here: The George Romero Foundation and I are doing online Horror Trivia on October 11. I had been doing it live with them here in Pittsburgh until the pandemic.
Based on this year’s rules and conditions, if there was one essential you-can’t-miss film you could force all your participants to add to their challenge, which film would it be? Demons, Eve’s Bayou or The Witch Who Came From the Sea.
‘The Witch Who Came from the Sea’ (1976), directed by Matt Cimber.
What have been your own greatest film discoveries through your Hooptober adventures? A Tale of Two Sisters, I Drink Your Blood, Blood Diner, and though it is a bit of a cheat to list this one, The Amusement Park. It’s cheating because it didn’t exist as something that I or anyone else could have watched, prior to when I saw it.
Do you have any acclaimed horror movies still lingering in your list of shame? Eyes Without a Face, Upgrade, Cure and Scream 4.
Have you ever completed one of your own Hooptober challenges yet? Errrrrrrrrr, one. I’m on track this year.
What about the participants over the years—any Letterboxd friends you’ve made who would you like to give a shout-out to? Aaron, Sarah Jane and Chris Duck are people that I talk to outside of Letterboxd. There have been a few others over the years. Slappy McGee has helped me with Hooptober the last two years. They are great. Javo and David Lawrence are pretty great, too.
Before Hooptober, many of your lists invited discussion with your followers. In what ways is Letterboxd the ideal forum to foster a community of film fans? Fans exercise their fandom in so many ways. The platform is so flexible that it allows you to utilize it in a small and personal way, in a promotional way, or to dive into the community pool and see who’s out there that shares something with you or can show you something. The more people that we are exposed to and listen to, we are all the better for.
Which of your review—from any genre—are you proudest of? The Invisible Man or The Hustler, probably. I have a capsule of Hud that I like.
So, you’re the horror guy. Nobody is denying that. You are Cinemonster, after all. But when I look at your top movies list and see that Singin’ in the Rain is your all-time number one, I’ll need you to explain yourself. I go back and forth between that and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They are 1A and 1B in some order. Singin’ in the Rain is a perfect film and the studio system at its best. I will ignore your implied insult. ;)
‘Fear of a Black Hat’ (1993), directed by Rusty Cundieff.
It’s true, even a horror aficionado needs some levity in their life. What other comedies pick you up from a dark place? Fear of a Black Hat always does the trick. Same with The Awful Truth, Murder by Death, Hollywood Shuffle, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Blazing Saddles, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Black Dynamite.
Who has been keeping you company during this tough year? I have watched thirteen Spike Lee films so far this year. I’ve taken a break the last few months, but I’ll probably knock out five or six more. With the exception of 25th Hour, everything is a revisit. It’s been a joy to go back through everything. Crooklyn is much stronger than I remembered, and Bamboozled just gets better and more impactful as time passes. I have loved Spike since the day I saw School Daze. His films have always connected with things that are important to me and to those that have been around me. Lee is still grossly under-appreciated as a narrative film director and a documentarian.
We’re bowing down to your epic Blu-ray and DVD collection. Which ones are your most prized possessions? Make us jealous. I have an Anchor Bay DVD of Dawn of the Dead signed by the cast and George A. Romero, a steelbook of Battle Royale, the first Slumber Party Massacre set before they had to reprint the box, the original Star Wars trilogy on Blu. I’m sure there are things I’m not thinking of. I have a lot of out-of-print and laser-only stuff. I’ll never get rid of my Holy Grail, Ghostbusters and Akira Criterion laser discs.
A selection of Cinemonster’s signed memorabilia.
I have a copy of Painting with Light signed by John Alton, John Waters and Steven Soderbergh I’ll send you a picture of. I used to collect movie posters, and I have the original Revenge of the Jedi one-sheet and the Drew Struzan Squirm poster. I do love those.
From your top directors list, let’s put one horror director on a pedestal. Who does the genre better than anyone else and why? George. They’re always topical, intelligent, thoughtful, personal and sometimes prescient. At their best they hold up both a mirror and a crystal ball. He was writing found-footage scripts in the early 70s, for god’s sake. Tobe is grossly under-appreciated. James Whale and Mario Bava could scare you in so many ways.
So, thinking beyond Ari Aster, Robert Eggers and Jordan Peele, which up-and-coming horror directors are you most excited about? Issa López, Gigi Saúl Guerrero, Benson and Moorhead, Shinichiro Ueda, Na Hong-jin, Julia Ducournau, Nia DaCosta, Jeremy Gardner and Leigh Whannell.
The 2010s were a great decade for horror. We have more money on-screen, moving away from the low-budget films of the 2000s. Which favorite horror film of the last decade inspired you the most? Get Out. What Jordan did for generations to come is unmatched in this century.
Chucky from ‘Child’s Play’ (1988).
Which probably-too-long horror franchise gets too much flak and is top-to-bottom a great time? Child’s Play. Chucky has always been treated generally as second tier. [That franchise] has tried a lot of interesting and out-there things during its lifespan that had no business working, but did.
I know it’s been a slow year but you haven’t logged many 2020 movies yet! Which is your most anticipated horror movie of 2020 or 2021? Peninsula, for sure; I love Train to Busan. Then Candyman, The Dark and the Wicked, Grizzly II: Revenge, Bad Hair, #Alive, After Midnight, The Platform, Bulbbul, Underwater, Shirley and Swallow.

This is what they look like and this is actually a touring bike a little bit lighter and it's a racing bike it's pretty close we do have touring bikes are a little bit heavier and they have the dual battery system and it does save you energy and then go an average of about 30 miles an hour I'm going when they go over 100 miles with average of 35 mph with a e-bike. This was quite standard procedure, so I wasn't specifically worried. However, as my figures drew devoid of television, the nozzle flipped a fat bead of glue straight in the direction of my face, touchdown in the corner of my eye.
From the outside with or without the light on you can not see the fracture anymore as well as it has held for about 4 months to date. Great for sticking little glass products; not so reliable on larger breaks. Moisten the glue tarnish with cozy water, after that carefully rub toothpaste over the discolor with a fabric.
I obtained the top of my ear cut while obtaining a haircut (blood all over!) and also went to the ER and they glued it back along with medical-grade CA. They could not have sewed anything so fine, and also it worked perfectly. One of the initial functions for CA adhesive was to close gunshot wounds during the Vietnam Battle. Is Java a dying language?
Python is recognized as an official language at Google, it is one of the key languages at Google today, alongside with C++ and Java. Some of the key Python contributors are Googlers and they continue to use, promote, and support the language actively.
So for this course we might create a bundle called com.javafortesters.chap003myfirsttest.examples. You do not have to utilize the chap003 prefix, yet it might help you map your code back to the chapter in the book. I utilize this convention to assist you locate the example and workout resource code in the source download. Selenium is one of the most famous device in the field of automation testing, whereas Java, on the various other hand, is one of the most heavily utilized programming language in today's market.
Is Python harder than Java?
In over the span of 25 years, Python has managed to reach a level that is high above others making it the fastest growing language. Not only this, but it also has a promising future along with the addition of other technology. There is no doubt that it has become quite favorite in the software industry.
So I think it's excellent that Alan concentrates on what appears to be one of the most usual language utilized for creating Selenium manuscripts-- Java. Alan Richardson (@eviltester) belongs of the UKSTAR 2018 Board. Alan has more than twenty years of expert IT experience, working as a programmer as well as at every level of the testing power structure from tester via head of testing. Author of guides "Selenium Simplified" and "Java For Testers".

Java is the most preferred shows language in operation since it's the only language that functions throughout all computer system platforms without needing to be recompiled for each one.
Teaching is our interest and we design every course so you can go back to square one, understanding nothing about a subject as well as end up being an expert after the program and can deal with business projects.
You do not need to have experience of doing this as your expertise of the innovation will be enough (we'll aid you with the rest till you're up to speed).
JUnit only runs the approaches which are annotated with @Test as JUnit tests. We can have additional approaches in our classes without the annotation, and also JUnit will not attempt and run those.
In this post, we have actually undergone 5 devices which are favored by designers worldwide for UI testing, unit testing, as well as BDD testing of an application. Reviewing this publication, you'll likewise learn just how to use one of one of the most preferred java IDE JetBrains's intelliJ in addition to Maven and also jUnit. If that seems like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo to you, do not worry-- Alan makes it so easy that you'll be developing jUnit tests in IntelliJ by the time you finish phase three. Top Tips For Knowing Java Shows.
Does Google use Python?
Learning anything in general is hard. Java is a mature language, so there is a lot to learn. It was hard for everyone to start off with their first language, Java is no different. Java brings with it features that have evolved and creolized from multiple other languages.
And also in Device testing, as it manages code degree may need the tester to have fundamental understanding of the shows language entailed. In the present Agile age, programmers are also called for to get associated with testing. Expertise and understanding the relevance of testing is what separates specialist Java programmers from novices. It is not needed that you need to be a professional, however at least you ought to have the basic expertise to compose examination cases that can immediately validate your code.
Because of this, the majority of chapters you'll check out cover functionality you'll never ever utilize as a Selenium examination automation designer. Save yourself tons of time as well as grab a duplicate of Alan Richardson's Java for Testers book. For additional fate points make sure to provide more after that the minimum recommended valued of $4.99 to show Alan just how much his job is appreciate. opleiding tester does not cover Selenium, yet it lays a strong foundation for novices that need to find out just how to set in Java in order to begin making use of Selenium.
For large complex heavily technological applications, it will be a plus if the tester has basic understanding on the modern technology made use of for the application. When it comes to the kind of testing, I have observed that in lots of hands-on testing circumstances, technical knowledge is not called for as long as in Automated testing.
In this phase you are mosting likely to learn how to utilize various other classes in your @Test method code. Eventually these will be classes that you compose, but for the minute we will certainly utilize other classes that are built in to Java. Many Java books start with a 'major' course as well as demonstrate how to put together code and also write basic applications from the command line, then develop right into even more Java constructs and also GUI applications. When I compose Java, I rarely assemble it to a standalone application, I spend a great deal of time in the IDE, composing and also running tiny checks and refactoring to abstraction layers.
This guide collection is made for full novices with no or minimal shows background in Java or any type of various other shows language. The Java collections framework is a collection of classes and user interfaces that implement commonly multiple-use collection information frameworks. Collection structure has several user interfaces and classes.

An Extremely Detailed Guide to Writing A Character In DC
hey what’s up its ur gal queen morgaine comin atcha live with another Extremely Detailed Guide!
in the wake of shows like veep and house of cards, tons of political and adjacent characters have sprung up round the rpc, many of whom live in Our Nation’s Capital™. i’ve seen guides for how to write characters that live in nyc, la, san francisco and lots of other places, but not for how to write characters that live in dc. but Fear Not! i live here! i’ve been living here for well over five years! i can’t wait to leave!
so here is a LONG-- and i DO mean LONG-- list of Spicy DC Shibboleths you can use to make your character realistic, straight from the mouth of a grudging native. ready?
IF YOUR CHARACTER’S IN DC, THEY SHOULD....
use the metro. the metrorail, called ‘the metro’ by locals, is our version of the t ( boston, ) the tube ( london ) or the subway ( nyc, ) and most locals rely on it to get from point a to point b. much like the other commuter systems listed above, most people use a plastic card, called a SMARTRIP CARD, to pay for fare, which is anywhere from $2 to $6 depending on the time of day. ( the metro charges more for ‘peak hours,’ which is the afternoon / rush hour time period between four and eight pm. ) the metro has numerous stops all throughout washington dc proper, maryland and virginia, and we usually refer to the lines on it by their colour ( eg red, yellow, green. ) unless your character is the queen of sheba and gets carried by servants or has Nerves of Steel and drives everywhere, they probably use the metro to get where they need to go.
.....complain about the metro. this is a huge one. however much your character currently complains about the metro? it’s not enough. they need to complain more. for a system supposed to make travelling easier, the metro sure is awful at working consistently. the metro is a dumpster fire on wheels. and there is always some Bulled Shite going on with it, i promise you. your character’s train is late. your character’s train stopped for no reason on the way to a station. some drunk frat bros from au just got on and they’re being loud and drunk. it’s late and the trains are only running every twenty minutes. your character’s metro track might Literally catch fire. the train your character thought was their train dumped them out at a certain stop and now they have to wait fifteen minutes for another one. the metro SUCKS and we ALL hate it, but we’re STILL Beholden to get on it every Focking day to try to go to work or school because Deep In Our Heart of Hearts, we know that driving here is way worse. so yeah, we accept our fates to get on the HellRail9000 every day, but we’re gonna bitch about it the whole time.
probably not live in dc proper. ‘but queen morgaine, my character is a sexy rich 54-year-old illustrious powerlez politician! she has to have the Best Pad around for miles!!’ i hear ya ( also, is she single? ) but The Fact of The Matter Is, it’s really hard to find somewhere to live in dc proper for a multitude of reasons. for one thing, it’s WICKED expensive. ( though that also means, of course, if your character is loaded, don’t worry about this part. ) for another, dc has succumbed to a terrible gentrification problem, which means that more and more regions in the city are being forcibly transformed in order to make them ‘nicer’ for young up-and-comers, displacing longtime residents in the process. it’s Not Unheard Of for your character to live in dc proper, but it would be more realistic for them to live in its outskirts instead ; and people who live in surrounding areas all say they live in dc anyway. popular areas ( especially for politicians or other well-off characters ) include:
bethesda, maryland. the $8 Coffee Snob Epicentre of the dc metro area. LOTS of rich people here. expensive to live in. tons of Chic Fancy Restaurants, lots of cutesy expensive boutique shops ( like sugarfina, lululemon, anthropologie and sweetgreen ) lots of wealthy older ladies walking dogs in Athleisure. very expensive and prestigious private schools here too, like stone ridge and sidwell friends school, but also a few very large public ones, such as bethesda-chevy chase ( bcc. ) the national institute of health headquarters are also here. probably your top-tier best bet for a rich or otherwise Well-Off character. about fifteen minutes into dc proper via metro.
chevy chase, maryland. super nice, though a little on the Pricey side. people here tend to be more Modest about their money, so this area is pretty affluent, it’s not as hoity-toity as bethesda. awesome shopping-- right next to friendship heights in dc, which has lots of high-end stores like jimmy choo, bloomingdale’s, whole foods, etc. about five to ten minutes to friendship heights, fifteen to twenty minutes via metro into downtown dc. ( it’s also right next to the region with the same name in dc. )
kensington and garett park, maryland. i used to live here!! quiet and VERY cute. kensington has an adorable historic district down a hill, with a tea room and 'antique row,’ a block of vintage shops. east of bethesda, about ten minutes there by car. beautiful brightly-coloured victorian houses here. has a Small Town Feel and lots of kid-friendly Wholesome activities, so lots of older people and families with young kids live in these areas. huge beautiful art and music venue, strathmore, is here as well. about thirty-five to forty minutes into dc proper via metro.
arlington, virginia. i don’t go here very often so i can’t Vouch for it as hard but my dad used to work here so i’ll try. probably the most Work-Focused and Capital-G Government area outside dc. mid-tier expensive, but not a whole lot to do other than work or go to school from the Overwhelming Presence of federal buildings, colleges, and businesses here which makes it a less popular choice. big area, proximity to dc ranges depending on what part of arlington you’re in-- anywhere from five or ten minutes or half an hour away via metro.
alexandria, virginia. sort of like arlington, but prettier. i don’t go here much either, but it’s also a popular choice for those working in dc but wanting to stay in virginia. its Main Hangout, old town alexandria, sits right on the potomac waterfront, and supplies most of the area’s non-work activities. has lots of ~Small Town Charm~, cute bars and restaurants and a couple niche museums, like the apothecary musuem. lots of bakeries here as well. also mid-tier expensive. about forty minutes away from dc via metro.
if your character isn’t a rich politician or is otherwise just Dead-Set on living IN dc, here are some popular areas in the city itself, from most to least expensive.
georgetown. EASILY the Most Elite, Absolute Ritziest and overall Top-Tier Prestigious neighbourhood in the district. means most of its denizens are wealthy snobs, and the cost of living here is astronomical-- if bethesda has $8 coffee, georgetown’s are $8.50, before tax. georgetown is very hilly, full of townhouses and paved with cobblestones, so your character will probably do a lot of walking and stair-climbing. it’s always busy, and even though the snobby people irritate me every time i go, the shops ( lush!! sephora!! dr. martens!! ) and 700 bakeries with adorable treats ( sprinkles cupcakes!! baked and wired!! ) keep me from staying away completely.
jinx proof, a wicked good tattoo parlour, is here as well!!
downtown dc. probably what you think of when you think of ‘washington dc,’ because most of what makes dc dc is down here, as you might imagine. has the capitol building, most of the museums, chinatown, the white house and ford’s theatre. SUPER expensive because of this.
dupont circle. my personal favourite area of dc, just a few minutes down the block from downtown. lots of great food and shopping-- fantom comics, my favourite comic book store, beefsteak, a vegan restaurant are some of my Usual Haunts here. mid-tier expensive.
it’s also a historic Gaybourhood: one of the earliest lgbt protest marches and the first real dyke march Ever was held here in 1993! capital pride is also hosted here every year.
capitol hill. despite the name, not the austere, cutthroat Essence of DC Politics you’d probably think. pretty quiet, lots of row houses ( something dc is famous for, see the ‘bits and bobs’ section at the end here. ) lots of ~Indie~ businesses and coffee shops. was home to phase 1, the area’s oldest lesbian bar, till it closed in 2016 ( rip mama!!!! ) mid-to-lower-tier expensive.
u street / cardozo. ah, U Street, my Other Home. great food here, like sugar shack donuts and ben’s chilli bowl. but u street’s Star Attraction is most of dc’s music scene, most notably All Flavours of rock ( esp punk, ) indie and alternative--i spent almost all of my teenage years Cavorting About till the wee hours of the morning on school nights at concerts, parties and diy shows on u street. mid-to-lower-tier expensive.
adams morgan. also an Artsy Hangout in dc. lots of restaurants and bars, lots of Weird Shops, has the adam’s morgan festival every year. home to a gay bar, pitcher’s, and dc’s newest lesbian bar, a league of her own! mid-to-lower tier expensive.
georgia avenue / petworth. most of my friends who live in dc proper live here. not a Designated Gaybourhood but lots of gay people, there’s a lesbian party at a bar here every month. lots of animal shelters. good bar scene and ample public transport. right next to howard university, so quite student-heavy, but pretty quiet. lower-tier expensive.
takoma park. i also love it here. ~Technically~ just called takoma, but since it’s mixed with the super-close town in maryland, takoma park, locals tend to just. call it that. quiet and relaxed HippieTown, called ‘the berkeley of the east’ and ‘the people’s republic of takoma park’ with good reason-- lots of Greenie Boutique Places, lots of hybrid cars and ~Progressive~ ally lawn signs. adorable food co-op and tons of bookstores. pretty inexpensive.
none of these Jive with your character and you Really wanna get Spicy, they could could always live in baltimore and get the marc train ( another lightrail serving the dc, maryland and west virginia areas ) every day for a half-hour commute to dc.
have Opinions about food. greater dc has a very strong restaurant and food scene, made easily accessible by the metro. there’s ALWAYS something cool to eat in dc anywhere you go, and we love telling people about it.
said Food Opinions are often very divisive, and people argue their side with as much Fervour as those debating pineapple on pizza. for example, one thing people fight about here is mumbo sauce: ‘are you for or against,’ ‘what exactly is it and what do you put it on,’ etc. the one i get dragged into is ‘georgetown cupcake vs baked and wired.’ my dad’s staunchly pro-baked and wired and anti-georgetown cupcake, i love ‘em both, but every time we’re in georgetown we bicker.
never fall short of things to do. like i said, dc is ALWAYS bustling on any given day. sure, a lot of it’s expensive and very often alcohol-focused ( like nyc, we do a lot of wine and beer tastings, cocktail parties and galas ) or otherwise geared towards adults, but if you hop on the metro or a bus, you’re almost guaranteed to find something. see the ‘places of note’ bullet here for some ideas.
have gone to a museum at least once. the area surrounding the national mall and capitol building also has our museums, which are owned by the smithsonian institution. they’re the first place i reach for when i want something to do, and i’ve been going to them so frequently and for so long that james smithson is practically my third parent lol. they are free, which is what makes them so hugely popular, and the Big Three are the national museum of natural history, the national air and space museum, and the national gallery of art. everyone who comes to dc goes to at least one, even if they never go again, and if your character lives here, they’ll probably go to several. ( they also make great date spots, fyi. )
have Opinions about the national cherry blossom festival. dc has lots of cherry blossom trees along the tidal basin and potomac river, given to us as a token of friendship by japan in march of 1912. to celebrate, the national cherry blossom festival is held every spring from late march to early april when the trees are in peak bloom. it isn’t so much a Hard and Fast Festival but more of a fourteen-day period with various cherry blossom- and japanese-themed events, like kite-flying, marathons and sake-tasting with a Great Big Street Fair at the end. people flock to dc every spring just for the cherry blossoms, and most locals either love it, take five billion photos and celebrate with thematic cupcakes and cocktails, or Loudly hate it and call it an overhyped tourist trap ( while still sneaking their annual cherry blossom pic for facebook On The Sly. ) your character should probably be one or the other, i don’t know a lot of neutrals.
probably not call it ‘washington dc.’ if your character does call it that, it should be a defining trait and / or signify that they’re new or visiting. no one here calls it that, we either call it just ‘dc’ or ‘the district.’ it’s not Sacrilege, like calling boston ‘beantown’ ( yuck ) or san francisco ‘frisco,’ more like calling nyc ‘the big apple’-- we just think you sound like a dweeb.
complain a LOT. however much your character is complaining, it’s not enough. they need to complain more. dc locals are ALWAYS complaining about something, in a way similar to a cranky new yorker. i’ve never known a dc local, especially an office worker, who wasn’t complaining every five seconds about one thing or another, and this is largely attributed to its wealthy, ambitious and politically-driven population-- most of us here are Important Individuals, or think we are ; so unfortunately lots of people look down upon those who are not also doing Important People Things.......and end up acting like entitled brats as a result. the metro, like i said, is the biggest one, but other topics of District Annoyance include--
the president’s motorcade. not super common, but takes forever and holds up traffic.
the beltway. the interstate 495, typically just called the beltway, is a highway that makes a loop around dc, as well as the surrounding areas of maryland and virginia. almost always road construction, an accident or traffic no matter what time of day it is and it’s just Generally Terrible. if your character is driving, they’ll probably complain about the beltway.
interns. dc has TONS of interns, especially in the spring and summer. most of them are between the ages of twenty-two to twenty-five, and they come here to work in government buildings or for specific senators and representatives. the most popular place to intern is capitol hill, so ‘interning on the hill’ is something your character will hear or say a lot. most locals don’t like them because they’re super arrogant about what they’re doing and can’t go five seconds without bringing it up.
DC’S STREET SYSTEM AND THE QUADRANTS.
the city of dc is shaped like a broken diamond, and split into four sections, called quadrants: northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest, with the capitol building marking the middle.
maryland borders the north half of the quadrant, generally, and virginia the south.
dc streets run three ways: east-west, north-south, and diagonally, and the streets are named with numbers, letters ( excluding j, x, and z, ) states or a combination.
lettered streets go east-west, numbered streets go north-south, and diagonal streets have state names.
the national mall runs west and east, respectively, away from the capitol so all the east-west letter streets run next to or parallel to them.
starting with the capitol, the first east-west streets north and south of the capitol are called a st, the second east-west streets north and south of the capitol are called b st, the third is c st, etc.
because there are two of the same number or letter street, you should include the quadrant if you’re mailing something or giving an address. like ‘555 k street nw, washington dc 42069.’
if that sounds confusing, it is. here’s a diagram that might help.
now that i’m done with specific traits, here are some Places of Note in dc you can set your threads in and your character can frequent!!
the smithsonian museums. i can’t make this list without putting my Beloved smithsonian museums first, sorry! they’re all wicked sick, but i’m particularly fond of the natural history museum ( which recently got new ocean and fossil halls i’ve been obsessed with, ) all of the art galleries ( we have five ) and the brand new african-american museum!
politics and prose and kramerbooks. politics and prose is a dc-based bookstore with its Main Store in chevy chase, but has locations in a couple other parts of dc. it also has smaller satellite stores that are part of busboys and poets, a combination restaurant and spoken-word venue. kramerbooks is a single independent bookstore in dupont circle. it’s open super late and has a cafe, called afterwords, on top!!
georgetown cupcake. like i said, it’s a cupcake bakery headquartered in georgetown, with a bethesda location as well! known for its Cute Ass Pink Boxes.
the wharf. waterfront entertainment district in southwest, popular with rich people. awesome music venue, the anthem, where i’ve seen florence + the machine and kt tunstall but it’s primarily fancy restaurants, high-end shopping and cocktail bars, including a milk bar.
baked and wired. like i said, georgetown cupcake’s rival. REALLY BIG cupcakes, which it calls ‘cakecups,’ with flavours like ‘uniporn and rainhoes’ and ‘chocolate doom.’
the black cat. goth / punk music venue and entertainment space on u street. i went to my first ever Capital-G Goth Event here shortly after i turned fourteen!! i love this place a lot and i hung out here all the time in high school. lots of great diy or less-mainstream artists play here, like waxahatchee, ex hex and daughter, and i go to their smiths vs the cure and depeche mode-themed parties every year.
the 9.30 club. the black cat’s cleaner and slightly hipper older sister, just a few blocks away on u street. i also love this place dearly and saw most of the concerts i’ve been to here, including haim, kate nash, new politics, the vaccines and sleigh bells. this is where most big indie and alternative bands play when they come to dc. there’s a coffee bar on the topmost area!!
the satellite room. 1960s-themed diner right behind the 9.30 club. open really late, awesome food especially vegan milkshakes and really cool arcade games in the back!! been here after many a concert In My Day.
nellie’s sports bar. gay sports bar across the street from the 9.30 club. great food and awesome drag brunch!! can be really crowded on weekend evenings though, so proceed with caution.
pitchers / a league of her own. gay bar and lesbian bar in the basement of said gay bar respectively in adams morgan. i’ve not been yet, but i’ve heard it’s fantastic!
strathmore. art and music venue in bethesda / kensington. has a mansion, for small concerts and a tea room, and a huge beautiful concert hall that seats over a thousand people for symphonic and other bigger concerts.
eastern market. craft fair in capitol hill that sells handmade goods, artisan food and fresh produce from may to october, roughly. great Wares, but hot and miserable unless you go early.
fantom comics. adorable comic book store in dupont circle. i’ve also been coming here for ages!! it has mainstream comics and indie ones, and it hosts events as well!
bits and bobs / miscellaneous info--
montgomery county in maryland, where i live, has a five-cent charge for plastic bags in grocery stores. it’s really annoying and your character will probably lie to the self-checkout machines when they buy stuff or complain about it to cashiers.
the grocery stores here are giant ( litcherally just stop and shop with a different name, ) safeway, and wegmans. we also have smaller region-specific ones like mom’s organic market, magruders and yes!
ocean city in maryland, virginia beach in, Well, Virginia, and rehoboth, dewey, lewes and bethany beaches, which are all in delaware, are where most locals go for summer vacations.
almost everyone who says they live in dc, doesn’t actually live in dc. they usually live in a surrounding area, like bethesda or silver spring, and say ‘dc’ for brevity’s sake.
you can’t buy alcohol at a grocery store in maryland, but you can in dc and virginia.
sometimes metro stops will Randomly shut down for maintenance, which means that sometimes you have to get off at that stop and wait for a ‘shuttle’ ( aka a free bus ) to take you to the next one. it’s the worst thing ever.
most of the houses in dc proper are row houses, which more closely resemble nyc’s brownstones than row houses elsewhere. maryland and virginia tend to have more Real Live Houses, townhouses and apartments.
marylanders LOVE their state flag for some reason, and because so many of them live and work in dc, you’re bound to see it there too. the maryland flag is absolutely FUCK-UGLY and they plaster it on EVERYTHING. bumper stickers, keychains, phone cases, you name it, even board shorts and tank tops.
those cameras on traffic lights that take pix of you when you speed? everywhere. you WILL end up with a ticket from one eventually.
we have three international airports, reagan international, dulles international and bwi. dulles and reagan are metro accessible, but bwi is in baltimore, so it’s not.
so there you have it!! a Comprehensive List of DC Shibboleths from a dc local!! have fun, and feel free to tag me in or tell me about your headcanons you use this post for, i’d love to see them!!

The story.
The story behind the hotel piccies, I mean!
Originally I had no clue where they might even be staying, since Oulu has exactly zero 5* hotels so I was kinda skeptical about JL/SL staying there overnight at all - in fact, I still think they might have only flown into town on Saturday just prior to the gig, but let´s get to that a little later! 😜
Anyway, as I stepped off the train I didn´t really have a plan in place which would have maximized my odds of running into the Letos, so I just bounced around town for a few hours - until I saw that Stevie had posted a snapshot of their hotel´s courtyard and BOOM! I recognized it as one of the central business hotel-type establishments. Not a 5* hotel by any means, but good enough for the crew obviously! 😆
So I chose to swing by the hotel as it was right around the corner, and indeed I was able to spot that errand girl Jackie and some other roadie dude goofing on bikes on the courtyard - and pretty soon SA also swerved in. I didn´t approach any of them because... why would I? Meh. Who cares. 😴
Nothing more seemed to be happening at the hotel tho so I split and went on with my day until a few hours later as I was making my way towards the marina again and I realized that the hotel was once again just around the corner, so I decided to do a little “drive-by inspection”, if you will! 🤭
And whaddya know! Who do I spot approaching the hotel? 😳
Only one of the most fervent...well, let´s just call her a “megasuperduper fangirl”. You know, the type who tours the globe after Mars and does 93 M&Gs per tour etc... 🙄
I´m not naming names here but you all know her and she has been discussed here many times. 😉
Anyway, I see she just waltzes into the hotel like no biggie (I know she didn´t stay at that hotel because she had posted from another hotel a day earlier), which got me thinking that... well, if SHE can just go into a hotel she´s not staying in, then why can´t I? 🤷🏼♀️
And thus I boldly followed her in - aaaaaaand almost had a stroke when I glanced at the gaggle of triad shirt-wearing females sitting around on sofas in the corner because among them was ANOTHER “megasuperduper fangirl” who is also very famous in our circles. Again, not naming names but you all know her too... 🙊
Well, “FOR REASONS” I was not about to go over there or hang around anywhere near their little sofa circle so I went and took a seat in the lobby´s kiddie play section which not only offered a power outlet for my phone but also a direct view to the elevators and main lobby. 🤟
After maybe 15 minutes or so, the echie group was suddenly summoned by SMG and led to one of the conference rooms to the side of the lobby.
Yes I am a bit slow, but only then it clicked why that group was here. The M&G was taking place at the hotel! DOH! 🤦🏼♀️
For some reason I had assumed it would be at the festival backstage area like mine was in Getafe, but nope! It was at the hotel - which naturally meant that if the fans were lead to the room via the main lobby, the “band” would be too... 😯
Side note: the M&G group was TIIIIIINY! Maybe 15-18 people tops...
After the group left, mars crew activity in the lobby intensified: Matty Vogel was coming in and out with huge trunks and bags and and and some random roadie was telling him how amazing the sunset had been in Oulu the night before - confirming my suspicions that Matty had not spent the night in Oulu...
And if Matty only arrived earlier that day, I´m pretty sure so did the Letos! 🤷🏼♀️
SMG also popped out to the lobby and looked around all confused, obviously looking for someone but failing in it so she went back in.
Then Kenny came down to the lobby reception to ask about the wifi not working (uh oh...), and then asked them for an extension cord and scissors (ooookay...) and MAAAAAAYBE HAPPENED TO DROP THE NUMBER OF THE ROOM WHERE A CERTAIN SOMEONE WAS STAYING...😳
Oh Kennyyyyyy... Maybe keep that information a little more hush-hush...? 🤨🙉
Well, I chose not to climb up and go kick down the door for room 62X because I had already secured a nifty spot on the lobby couches so Messiah was quite safe, I assure you! 🤭
Then Kenny headed to the M&G room right past me - and let me tell you, that tiny lady looked exhausted as hell... Yawning wiiiiidely and looking slightly disheveled while constantly checking her phone. 😣
Soon she returned from the M&G room and headed up, and then in turn that new chick Jackie came down and sat down right next to me (I kept my headphones on and fiddled with my phone but I could still hear her audibly sighing (one of those annoyed-stressed sighs... Gee wonder who might be the cause of such deeeeeeeep sighs...🤔)
Only a few moments later the elevator doors pinged and...
They walked SOOOOOOO close to me, SL legit could have tripped on my foot (that´s my leg/knee you can see at the bottom...) 😂
When the door to the M&G room was opened, I could hear the group SINGING (I think it was WoW but can´t be sure) which is EXACTLY what Reni asked us to do in Stockholm as well, because apparently that would make the band arrive faster...
Childish much? 🙄
Also... THAT PESKY CHARLES MANSON THING JUST KEEPS CREEPING BACK INTO MIND... 😶
Anyway, I decided to double my odds of Letospotting and stayed put for the duration of the M&G, and soon I was joined by 2 Finnish drivers waiting for the band/crew to take them to the festival.
They kept chatting about how the band had ordered food to be brought backstage, but wanted it IN THE MIDDLE of their set, which made no sense to them... 🤔
And me either! 🤷🏼♀️
Oh except if the food items were also meant for the band´s... special guests waiting in the backstage area...
Hmmm.
Suddenly I heard noises coming from the M&G room´s direction, and I realized the event was over and got ready to get my pap on again...
JL was being EXTRA animated and lecturing Jackie about who knows what...
He def was into it, whatever “it” happened to be. 🤷🏼♀️
Interestingly enough, the hotel also housed a girl´s soccer team as well as other randoms, and NO ONE was allowed to use the lifts when the band was on the move!
Can´t risk those germs from normals, obviously! 🤢
MAJORLY IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE!!!!!!
It felt like a really short time that the Letos spent in that room, so I checked time stamps on my pics.
The pics of them walking in were taken at 20:25, and the pics of them walking out at 20:50, which means that THE M&G IN ITS ENTIRETY AKA THE Q&A SESSION AS WELL AS THE PICS TOOK ONLY 25 MINUTES!!!
I shit you not, folks. 😶
TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES.
Granted there were less than 20 people in attendance, but that´s no excuse! In fact, had it lasted the standard 45-50 minutes, the people who had paid $300-700 for that event could have gotten an extremely cool and personal experience with plenty of time for everyone´s questions, general chat and perhaps most importantly: the pic session would not have felt like a rushed cattle drive!
But... there it is. 🤷🏼♀️
Twenty-five minutes is all you get for a shit ton of money, guys!
Thank the friggin´ lords above I didn´t buy a M&G because HOLY SHIT.
HOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT!!!!!
Ugh. 😑💸
After the Letos disappeared upstairs, I chose to abandon my post and finally head out to the festival grounds (all the M&G folks left too so I figured if they dared to leave their Messiah, I might as well...)
Cut to an hour later, at 22:31 (only 1 minute after scheduled kick-off time whaaaaaaaaat...?!?! 😱), Monolith started booming from the speakers and show got underway.
Nothing much to add about the concert that wasn´t already mentioned in that review I posted earlier... You can still check the recording from the show on my IG for a few more hours! 😉
It really was exactly as lazy and re-re-re-re-re-re-reheated as we all suspected it to be - even down to the inbetween-song quips. 😴
“Has anyone ever heard of a song called The Kill?”
Has anyone NOT heard that sentence before?! 😒
Doubtful. 🤷🏼♀️
The only memorable differences I could notice were that against all odds, SL's singing wasn't as bad as it has been previously, and that JL has graduated from shirts to hats:
Oh and of course that little outburst at Shayla was a nice touch. 👍
All in all, concert-wise I can't say I would have missed anything had I not gone to this one.
But the side events and whatnot...
Well, they were kinda amusing, not gonna lie! 😂😜

My second and final full day in Tokyo was visiting Disney Sea. The friend I was staying with decided to join me since she was also on vacation and we made our way to the park. We had decided to try something called Disney Bounding, even though it was late September and the parks let adults dress up in actual cosplay of characters. It’s really cool to witness. My friend and I decided to go for villains because we believed Disney Sea was the park that was taken over by villains and maybe we’d see the whole park transformed with a larger Halloween influence than I had last year at Tokyo Disneyland. Disney bounding is putting together an outfit that is inspired by a character to wear at the parks since about 80% of the year adults can’t dress up. My friend chose Scar from The Lion King and I picked Captain Hook from Peter Pan.
I had a lot of fun figuring out an outfit, though to be honest, I failed my first attempt. South Korea has a lot of really nice underground malls where clothing is a bit cheaper and I spent an afternoon with a friend walking around trying to put something together. I really proud with my finds only to go home and realize that despite being elastic and looking like they’d fit that they didn’t actually. The downfall to shopping in the underground where you can’t try anything on. Lesson learned. I’m still proud of what I ended up with but as family and friends have pointed out I also ended up looking a bit like Carmen Sandiego. It was a happy coincidence.
picture of the monorail with Mickey Mouse shaped windows and gates that say “35 Happiest Celebration”
Once we arrived at Maihama station we had to take the monorail to Disney Sea. The monorail has four stops.
1: Resort Gateway: This is where you catch the train back to Tokyo.
2: Tokyo Disneyland Station
3: Bayside
4: Tokyo Disney Sea
The monorail isn’t free. It’s 260 yen per ride and you can get a day pass or a two day pass. You can also use the same pass that you might use in Tokyo for the regular trains and buses. I hoped that there was a special Disney one way ticket but there’s not. I had a Passimo (a transit card for Tokyo) which I should’ve just used instead. You can also walk to either park. I walked to Disneyland last year, but it was nice to take the monorail which was comfortable, played Disney music and was very cute.

Once at Disney Sea we headed to the bathroom so my friend could add the finishing touches to her Scar look. Which included us spending a half hour while she drew the iconic scar on her face with lipstick and eye liner. We took our cute tickets which she’d gotten at a Disney store in Tokyo and headed in. I went straight through but my friend got stopped. There’s a list of do’s and don’ts for the park and despite being on the website it wasn’t anywhere we’d looked before going. To save you time because I couldn’t find it easily while navigating the site you can find rules for dressing up here. We spent nearly an extra half hour waiting for a staff member who was kind enough to run off and get my friend make up remover.

Once in the park we looked at the schedule for the day. We arrived early enough to catch the main show we wanted to see “Villains World” but there was already a crowd before it started. Two! Hours! Early! Rather than wait with the crowd for two hours in the early morning sun we headed towards the back of the park towards the Lost River Delta to watch a show called “Out of Shadowland” at the Hangar. We were about an half hour early and there wasn’t too bad of a line. We got good seats and enjoyed the show which was a musical that was 100% in Japanese. I was expecting it to be a little bit like the Lilo and Stitch show I saw last year where it came with a translator but no. The plot is simple and it is possible to follow along. It’s about a group that goes into a woods in search of a special bird. A shy girl named Mei finds and follows the bird and becomes separated from the group and then finds herself in the “Shadowland” where she meets a deer spirit named Yuu. Yuu wants her to help save the world he lives in (with her magical powers) and defeat the evil bird but Mei just wants to go home. Through her adventure she finds courage and confidence. It was pretty to watch and fun, though as a note there is some flashing lights at various parts and possibly some parts that may be disturbing to very small children.

The last showing is on March 31st, 2019, after which a new musical will be performed at the Hangar stage. The show is about 25 minutes long. The schedule for the performances change occasionally but in general it seems to be performed about 5 times a day at the Hangar stage: 10:30, 12:00, 1:30,3:45, and 5:15 p.m.
Picture of Mermaid Lagoon, lots of blue and pink coral
After the show we headed to the Mermaid Lagoon to get lunch. Most of the Mermaid Lagoon is indoors in an area called Triton’s Kingdom. Inside Triton’s Kingdom is a very fluorescent space made up of coral mixed with a video arcade vibe. While there aren’t video games, there are tons of rides perfect for children. We weren’t there to ride any of the rides though and none of them really seemed like adult rides. They all seemed to be specifically activities for children. We headed towards the back to Sebastian’s Calypso Kitchen. This is a counter style restaurant where you order, pay and then go up to the counter where they’ll give you a tray with your food. We went here because according to the today page (which is 100% in Japanese) you can get some special Halloween treats.
Cup of coffee, special Halloween Melon soda and Halloween seafood burger with disney villains to go burger bag

My friend ordered their スペシャルセットwhich was a seafood burger that was a scallop cream croquette with ratatouille sauce on a purple bun. She ordered it as a set so it came with a side of fries and a choice of drink for 990 yen. I misread the today page and thought that it was also the restaurant with Halloween non-seafood burger but it wasn’t. So instead I ordered a sausage pizza ソーセージピザ (700 yen) and their special Halloween drink calledメロンソーダ(ホイップクリーム&パイナップルシロップ)(380 yen) which was a melon soda with a whipped cream and pineapple syrup topped with little gummy candies in a very cute cup.

A picture of the inside neon lit dim Triton’s Kingdom inside facilities.
A beach version of Donald Duck surrounded by families and children trying to get pictures.
The seating was cute with little clam shell booths but like the rest of Triton’s kingdom it was very dimly lit. When we finished eating and were just enjoying our drinks my friend let out a scream, threw her arms out and then herself over the back of our clam shell booth. At first I thought she’d forgotten something she had to do for work or saw something upsetting, but then I spotted a Donald Duck wobbling past in snorkeling gear. I told her “go” and she bolted. It was probably the funniest part of the day and she managed to get some cute photos with the Donald Duck who was instantly swarmed on all sides by children, just like Pluto that was also wearing beachwear nearby.
After our trip to Triton’s Kingdom in the Mermaid Lagoon we headed to the Arabian Coast. While the Mermaid Lagoon is The Little Mermaid themed the Arabian coast is Aladdin themed. Here we rode Jasmine’s flying carpets which is a ride similar to Dumbo the flying elephant. Only for Jasmine’s flying carpet each carpet can seat up to four people, with two people up front and two in the back. The two sitting at the front get to control whether the carpet slowly moves up or slowly moves down. It’s a bit delayed but fun.

After the ride we stopped momentarily at a snack stand called Open Sesame to buy a pumpkin and maple churro. There was also a large line in the Arabian coast but for what I wasn’t exactly sure. It may have been for either the Agrabah Marketplace which boasts magic tricks as well as items for sale or Abuu’s bazaar which was a place to play carnival style games for an extra fee. Those were at least things in the area I assumed might’ve been the cause of the long line, but there is also a restaurant, some shows and a couple more rides that may have caused it.

Our next stop was the most exciting to me: Mysterious Island. Mysterious Island is located in the center of the park and is enclosed on all sides with paths leading in and out. It’s easy to spot from the rest of the park since a large portion of it is a volcano called Mount Prometheus. It’s 189 feet (57.61m) tall and occasionally belches out flame that can be seen and heard almost everywhere. Beneath this mammoth of a man-made volcano are two popular rides and a small cove to excite any steam-punk fan or better yet, anyone who enjoys the works of Jules Verne.

The Nautilus on the water, a submersible boat (also the name of the nearby gift shop)

Jules Verne was a French author in the 1800’s to early 1900’s. He’s most well known for his science fiction adventure stories that are hinted at throughout the Mysterious Island. Actually even the name of this section of the park is the name of one of his novels, specifically his #12 novel in “The Extraordinary Voyages” series. The island is in fact the hide out of one of his characters Captain Nemo who is also found in his book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (book #6) which shares a name with one of the rides on the Mysterious Island. The other ride is Journey to the Center of the Earth (book #3), which is another of Verne’s adventure novels.
We headed first to ride Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and made our way down underground and into a semi-long line with plenty to look at and enjoy. When it was time for us to board our crafts, small submarines that fit six, each set of two with their own window we were quite pleased. The ride was fun and felt in the same spirit as the book, a journey of exploration of the ocean with a bit of danger. Which really was the theme of both rides. It’s a similar style ride to the Peter Pan one found at the other parks.

I enjoyed the ride so much that I was ready to run across and under Mount Prometheus to get in line for Journey to the Center of the Earth. This was a bad idea. Outside Journey to the Center of the Earth are a lot of benches and places to sit. I should’ve sat. My feet were already hurting and the line ended up being 70 minutes. Which for park lines isn’t too long, I’ve been in line much longer before but the wait was disorienting. Unlike many rides at other Disney parks there weren’t any “From this point on your wait is___ minutes”. There also wasn’t any staff to ask. We were underground and there wasn’t much difference in things to look at. The line snaked around items and among other parts of the line to the point I didn’t know who else was behind me and who was in front of me to know where I was going next. That coupled with the pain in my feet was just torturous. I was about ready to throw in the towel when my friend spotted what she thought was the start to the ride. What she spotted in actuality were elevators that took us down further to where we entered another line, but this line at least we could see the special drilling device designed roller-coaster car. The ride was a lot of fun and the most intense roller coaster we managed to get on that day. Thankfully it had little places at the front of our seats to place bags and hats or anything we needed to store for fear of loosing. This was another ride that fit about six people.
These rides were a lot of fun and if you’re in a hurry it’s worth getting a fast pass for. We didn’t understand how fast passes worked and didn’t try to get any for the day. There should be fast pass ticket machines near the rides where you can scan your ticket and get a fast pass for a specific time period in which to return to the ride. Thankfully though our 70 minute wait was the longest we had for a ride that day.
After a short rest we left the Mysterious Island and headed down towards the Mediterranean harbor. The Mediterranean harbor is a lake area near the front of the park. This is where all parade like performances are held. We saw two from vastly different view points. We caught “Villains World” from in front of the Zambini Brother’s Restorante near the Disney Sea Transit Steamer Line. The best place to catch shows is from the front stage however the seating here fills up over two hours before the show starts. The area we sat filled up about an hour before the show. I suggest bringing an umbrella or parasol while you wait and snacks. Because there were two of us, one of us would sit while the other would go off and get snacks. Since it was still hot out I made use of my electric fan. You can’t move much so I highly suggest bringing something to do or something to keep you either warm or cool depending on the weather. People also bring mats to sit on or collapsible chairs that they take down before the show starts.
Screen shot of Mediterranean Harbor with suggested viewing wait spots for the shows. The Yellow Star is where the main stage is and fills up nearly 2 hours or more before a show starts. The black and white stars are other stage spots where characters may disembark from boats as well as where dancers may appear. These don’t fill up nearly as quickly but still try to be there about an hour before the show starts.
I really loved the “Villains World” show. It was fun and entertaining and great to watch. We had good seats since we were right outside a mini side stage where the characters got off their ships to interact with the dancers that were dressed to match the villains. Part of the music was in English and a lot of what the villains said was in Japanese. It was a lot of fun.

This was however a point where I lost my friend for a bit. When the show ended and we gathered up our things she had to go file a complaint with the staff because of an altercation she had with one of the other guests sitting near her. It didn’t go so well and she was gone for about an hour. During this time, since I had no way of contacting her I wandered around the American Waterfront as quickly as I could before going to our meeting spot. There isn’t any wifi at Disney Sea which made me worry how we’d communicate if something happened while she filed her complaint. She also has a phone with very poor battery life which meant she might not have been able to contact me even if she’d wanted to to update me on what happened.

Big Band Beat at Broadway Music Theater
There are some cool things to do in the American Waterfront. You can watch “Big Band Beat” which is a musical performance with characters and dancing at the Broadway Music Theater. It’s thirty minutes with about 5 show times a day that may change depending on the day: 12:20, 1:50, 3:20, 5:20, and 6:50pm. There is reserved and non-reserved seating available depending on the time of day. Reserved seating is usually for orchestra seating and requires getting a seat via lottery. To enter the lottery you need to go to Biglietteria (located near Gondolier Snacks across from Lido Isle at the Mediterranean Harbor) and scan your ticket that you used to get into the park. (Same as with getting a fast pass) Otherwise head to the Broadway Music Theater before the show to try and get a seat in one of the non-reserved spaces.
Also in the area is The Tower of Terror and a Dockside Stage which is where a twenty-five minute performance called “Hello New York” occurs. Performances happen about five times a day though they do change and sometimes there are less. Usually performances occur at 12:05, 1:35, 3:05, 5:15, and 6:45.
Toy Story Mania is another area in the American Waterfront. It’s similar to Abuu’s bazaar in that it’s mostly carnival games though there is a couple indoor rides. There’s also a beautiful park called the Waterfront Park which was a popular spot to get photos. I saw a ton of people wandering through the park getting pictures of their photos.
New York Deli
Halloween special set of prosciutto with apple sandwich, fries and drink (Kirin apple soda)
After this quick wandering through the American Waterfront I hurried to our meeting spot where the other Halloween sandwich was that I wanted to try. It was in one of the many restaurants on the American Waterfront, this one called New York Deli. The entrance was a little confusing since it wasn’t on the main street but instead around the corner from the main street. I had hoped it’d be a smallish deli where I could easily spot my friend but instead the shop was huge. I did a quick run through to make sure she wasn’t sitting and waiting for me and when I didn’t find her I ordered my meal, スペシャルセット, (1,150 yen) which was a prosciutto and apple sandwich set. I couldn’t remember what prosciutto (raw dry cured ham) was and thought it was just a regular deli meat until I took a bite and saw that it had an unsettling raw color and consistency. I’m not a huge fan of raw foods and despite everything, knowing that it’s meant to be that way just couldn’t really get over the texture. I picked at it, enjoyed my fries and my Kirin apple soda. About an hour later after being super anxious for awhile, my friend showed up and joined me. She didn’t have as much trouble finding me in the restaurant as I feared. We headed off to Port Discovery to ride Aquatopia and were pretty happy to see that it had a short line.
Picture of Aquatopia building at night.
Aquatopia is split into two sections. It’s a water ride where you won’t get wet. You board a small craft that follows an under water track that spins and turns and goes around obstacle’s and water features that may make someone dizzy. It did make me a little dizzy at one point. We ended up enjoying it enough to ride it twice, trying each side of the ride. Afterwards we had just enough time to head back to the American Waterfront and catch the “Fantasmic!” show. We took the Disney Electric Rail that goes from American Waterfront to Port Discovery and back then hurried to the water to try and find a spot to watch the show.
Boats with balloons on the water and The Sorcerer’s Hat

It was fun and a bit like the one shown at Disney World under the same name. It stars “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” version of Mickey Mouse and includes many familiar Disney characters.
Disney Sea Transit Steamer Line from above
Side of boat says “Disney Sea Transit Steamer Line”
After the show we walked to the other side of the lake to catch the first Disney Sea Transit Steamer Line after the show. The Transit Steamer lines stop at various ports around the park. At each spot you can show a crew member your map and they’ll show you where the boat will let you off. Ours stopped at the Lost River Delta, the only spot we hadn’t really spent much time in and which we had run out of time to enjoy. There are two large attractions here Raging Spirits and Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull. Instead of exploring we hurried back in line and boarded the next Transit Steamer Line back to the Mediterranean Harbor. Riding it around was a beautiful and peaceful experience. We got to see the entire park from a different view and it was lovely. We were even able to catch site of the fireworks from the “Brand New Dream” show that starts at 8:30 every night.
Minnie Ice Bar in Peach and Raspberry Flavor that cost 310 yen
After exiting back at the Mediterranean Harbor it was close to closing time. We popped into one of the shops near the entrance to get souvenirs and I quickly learned that only one specific shop carries pins and it wasn’t near where we were. We were even in what the map stated was the shop with the largest selection of merchandise.
Utterly exhausted and with a couple souvenirs to share with friends and coworkers (Omiyage (お土産)) we boarded the monorail back to the train station. Utterly exhausted neither of us paid close attention to the stops assuming that it’d be awhile till we got off and thus missed our stop and had to ride the monorail around once more. We heard Resorts and tuned out when it continued on to say JR line. It was literally the next stop.
I feel like Disney Sea was a bit harder to navigate than Disneyland. You really need to plan what you’re going to do, especially if you want to watch any of the performances. Unlike other parks there isn’t a parade route that goes throughout the majority of the park that you can catch a decent view. Instead there’s only a man-made lake at the front where you have to be early in order to try and get a good spot. While it feels like there’s less to do at Disney Sea it’s much more spread out leading to rides having a long wait time that can very quickly eat away at your day and time. A lot of things also aren’t really explained in English, only a couple things on the map state: In Japanese only, or give warnings about strobe or flashing lights. If you don’t do a lot of preparation ahead of time you could be caught unaware. Visiting with characters is also a bit more difficult. While there are certain set character visits, our surprise Donald Duck and Pluto in swim gear isn’t along the list of character greetings on the English website, neither was Jafar which I spotted wandering around the Arabian Coast at one point. This meant my goal of finding a Captain Hook to take a picture with for my Disney Bound inspired outfit was a bust. The only time I spotted him was during the “Villains World” performance.
Disney Sea is just a little bit less festive than Disney Land. It wasn’t taken over by villains like I had expected and the amount of decorations was a lot less. Both parks aren’t as festive as my Halloween loving self would like but, each have about one good Halloween performance and some decorations. I think Disney Land, though, wins out by having the Haunted Mansion turned Nightmare Before Christmas.

Another thing happening while I was there was the 35 anniversary of the parks. Throughout the parks were special Mickey Mouse statues that reflected the area of the park they were in. I didn’t find them all, but they can be found on the map. It felt a bit like a scavenger hunt when I did stumble upon one.
Disney Sea My second and final full day in Tokyo was visiting Disney Sea. The friend I was staying with decided to join me since she was also on vacation and we made our way to the park.

My Experience with Fitness
I was always a relatively fit person, my daily activities included - running, workout or football etc. The above statement was true until early 2014.
As my role at work became more challenging and personal life got busier (I got married), my usual self didn't give enough time to fitness.
Unhealthy lifestyle of more food, no workout, more stress and less hours of sleep continued for nearly 2 years. I went from 78 Kgs. muscular guy (Jan'13) to 90 Kgs. Fat guy (Mar'16).
In my head I was still a fit guy who used to run Half Marathon and played football, not realizing that person in me had lost all the fitness to a point where I couldn't even climb up 3 floor.
In May of 2016, I turned 29 years old and I looked like a 39 year old. I didn't like what I saw in my birthday photos. I needed to do something to at least stop gaining weight and hope to get fit at some point.
I broke down this journey into following 4 categories: Food, Sleep, Workout and Stress
Food:
No outside food
• Light Breakfast
Type 1 : 3-4 Egg white, black tea
Type 2 : 80 Gms. Boiled Soy Chunks, 50 Gms. Upama, Coffee No sugar
Type 3 : 3 Egg white, 1 Whole Egg, Toasted Bread and Butter
• Light Lunch
Type 1 : 2 Chapatti and green veggies
Type 2 : 2 Chapatti, Egg Burji (less oil) and Dal
Type 3: 1 Bowl of Rice, Veggies and Salad
• Light dinner
2 Chapatti and a bowl of Moong Dal
Milk Bread or Cereal and glass of mike (when not hungry)
Salad/ Nuts
Eat early dinner (latest 7:30 PM)
Sleep:
Sleep early (latest 9:30 PM)
Sleep at least 6 hrs.
Wake up early ( 4:30 AM)
No late night movies / no outings
Workout:
I started going to gym (isn't that we all do).I realized only then I was so not fit and was in worst shape of my life.
Over a month went, I struggled to see any effect. I was hardly able to workout and cardio in gym, nothing seemed to help.
I had to re-think my strategy, I decided to take a difficult route. I broke was workout in 2 parts: Morning for Cardio and Evening for Gym Weight Training. This plan was more difficult than it sounds, I had to drop all the excuses and get up every day and continue to do so every day.
Part 1: Cardio
Phase 1: I started walking and decided to walk 40-60 mins. every day and whatever pace fastest possible. This was most important part of journey as long duration of workout are more efficient in using body fat reserves. Body stores glycogen that give you energy first 20 mins. It's the time after that makes any difference.
I walked about 80 Kms. in a month and was only losing 200 grams a week. Meanwhile my gym workout was more focused on building strength and gain muscle definition.
Phase 2: As days became weeks and weeks became months I saw that I was able to walk/ jog / run. This was great as it meant I can cover more ground and burn more calories. I averaged to about 160 Kms a month now and that started showing results for me. I was now losing 700-1000 grams a week. As all cardio workout was in the morning, I found more energy in Gym to do more and it helped a ton. It's the balance and consistency that gets results.
By January of 2017 I have lost over 11 Kgs. weight (79 Kgs)and felt very good about myself and had a visibly different fitness, almost everyone who saw me knew that this was amazing transformation. But my journey was not over yet, I had still 10 Kgs. more of unhealthy fat all over the body.
Part 2: Gym Workout
I have been doing all my gym workout at office gym in Bangalore. I have been very lucky to find a trainer (Divya Nayagan) who understood my goals and was ready to invest his time, energy and knowledge to help me achieve results.
Divya took time to understand my history:
How active was I as a kid and school
How I lost my fitness
What are my goals
My dietary habit
Injuries (if any)
He worked with me to explain the body exercises and helped me through the challenging first few months where I needed constant motivation and customized workout regime.
Divya’s efforts and my ability to go to gym without fail - 5 days a week for over 2 years - has been a key to my success. Now the last aspect of fitness
Stress:
Fitness is more than just physical, it's in a huge way psychological. When you are getting unfit, you lose positive mental energy. Your personal and work life start to suffer. They all feed into each other.
My positive outlook towards fitness helped me spend more time with family and doing more than before as I felt more energetic and less exhausted all the time.I felt happier as I was doing what I loved and that reflected in all aspects of my life.
Result:
In last 22 months, I have run over 2,200 Kms.
I am 72 Kgs for over 10 months now
Am I satisfied, not really I feel fitness has a nostalgia to it. You want more and more once you get into it. But I am really happy with where I have gotten and still hungry for more.
"It's possible, If I can anyone can"
I would request all of you to take that first difficult step towards fitness. My mentions and methods are my personal mantra for fitness, you will have to discover what works for you.
