On my most recent shoe buying outing, I noticed that some brands have decided to start calling G a "comfort width".
I've been forced to buy in widths since 2009. G has always been the standard width. H is comfort width. In case the shoe fetish crowd are interested, I've been a K for the last decade, though for reasons science can't explain I've recently, occasionally, started fitting a J in some brands that very definitely are not calling G "comfort" anything.
Doctors everywhere have already been surgically excising pussy toenails since as long as I can remember, not to mention there was that hallux valgus trend in time with that trend for skintight ballerina flats. G being a standard foot width is a stretch at best--and they're trying to change it to F???
Oh, and because they *list* the width, and offer G, they're trying to brand--and price--themselves as orthopedic footwear.

#not art (yet!!!!)#preddy good kristen I got goin on in this piece#for some reason my brain isnt letting me do this one. been stalling on it for a good few days. but I intend to break thru it#I need to put this on paper at least once#(its space sweepers. I think it would be funny if the kids are in that universe too but theyre just like off to the side doing their own#thing pretty much unrelated to the main plot. theyre delivery people. theyre all still teens. they get up to shenanigans and then#one day they look up like huh the guy who founded eden fucking died?? when#kristen specifically I got a decent amount hashed out in my brain somehow. she's like an engineered messiah with a grafted engine#along her upper body skeleton that'd let her spontaneously rearrange objects on a molecular level#so she can theoretically knit wounds or cure diseases by thinking abt it very hard#sadly the engine of course takes enormous amount of energy to power. so most of the time in practice she just#has a half-metal skeleton that doesn't do anything. so she's buff as shit on the upper side and one of her punches can break your neck#but her mobility is limited and she sprains her ankles like every other week. her shins have broken like a few times#I genuinely love the way her shoes n braces look in this one its very fun#there are a lot of choices I made in this one that are so fun and also just like. a result of putting them in space sweepers#and thinking to myself here and there hey this would be cool if it harkens back to their canon designs#not riz tho other than being human he is fully exactly like how he looks in canon. hes just like that#hes the navigator and he charts their courses by hand with a school calculator#(also technically their legal counselor since he's sorta responsible for not putting them in traffic control's hands)#drawing this does make me realise a lot of these dynamics are really fun lol. idk if Im gonna ever do anything like proper for this but#at the very least if I draw this the idea will be out there)

when i say f.a. 503 for dior was the absolute worst year of anybody's life, i'm not exaggerating in the least. like could there be more objectively traumatic experiences? of course. but the utter stress that overtakes me at just the thought of finding myself in his position? the fucking executive and administrative and directorial problems i would have to deal with? the number of things that would be dependent on me to sort out? the sheer responsibility that would suddenly be on my shoulders? quite frankly i'm in awe of him for willingly stepping up to the task at all, to say nothing of how well he handled it with all the odds against him

As this year comes to a close here's hoping for more (I.e. any) Morally grey aroace protagonists in (adult) fiction. Because as much I love Ymir by Rich Larson, I can't just keep reading one book over and over again. I'm starving for Dirtbag Aces in media.

After so long, I found some really nice black cap toed oxfords for a decent price. They just came in, and they're sooo pretty and slender and fit perfectly. I have to admit I teared up lol

so are kitchen clogs actually worth it for service work i know some people who swear by them but im skeptical vs a good shoe with decent insoles for standing all day and not getting too sweaty in the toes

realized yesterday that my feet are completely fuckin Covered in mysterious little bruises, because my sneakers (old) (holes in them) (thin) (no cushioning) have not been protecting my feet (ehlers danlos) (lupus) (so so so injury-prone) from ANY hazards on the road (rocks) (pebbles) (roots) (uneven sidewalks) (dirt) (malevolent bus drivers), so i have decided i am going to spend this upcoming paycheck on some fuckoff expensive ($170) shoes (athletic) (cushioned) (long distance) (walking on clouds) (never feel pain or regret again) that i've wanted for like three years. indulgience.

i really have loved being in japan in general so far but most of my students are so fucking mean to me 😭😭 like they’re just so so sooo mean they parrot and mock me when i call someone’s name and laugh when i talk in general and it’s like how am i supposed to curry their favor or gain their respect when they are openly making fun of me from the second i walk into their classroom for the first time💀
#i think part of it is that 90% of the students are boys and they’re all super jocks so they don’t care abt english at all#also a lot of them are second semester seniors. and i was in their shoes not that long ago#which i understand. but like i wish they would at least be somewhat decent to me😭#like i wld fully be willing to say okay fuck the worksheet fuck the grammar let’s just shoot the shit. but none of them want to speak to me#also the ones who know i know japanese just speak japanese to me so i just stare at them blankly#at least in the us there were limits to the shit we cld say abt teachers in class because everyone was speaking english#to be fair i really struggle w conversational jpn & slang so most of the time i rlly don’t get the nuances#of what they’re saying to each other. and i can’t respond well at all. but i get the gist#its hard bc i’m new and also paired with new teachers for some classes so they don’t respect any ‘authority figure’ in the room#but like come on. don’t bully me.#i think part of the problem is there’s actually literally no consequences for anything. no detention or suspension or calls to parents#or getting benched for sports matches. which i think would actually get them to care#cuz there are things that technically i could try to do but there’s no way to actually enforce anything#idk. thinking out loud. the classes that have been decent & engaged have been super fun for me and energizing#but the others are rlly tough like so tough.#okay sorry i know no one cares

Why is it so exhausting to update commission prices

really fun letting all of my favorite shows take turns being the "i can't think about it i can't think about it i can't think about it!!" bingewatch during finals season/associated crunch times. they're being inducted into a society
#so i watched s1 of the funny ballet show. AGAIN like i think this has literally happened in this context before#'oh man i have so much to do for today and i can't skip woahh' (watches 4.3 hours of ducky content)#not the only unproductive thing i did this weekend. there were several#anyway gonna keep this brief for obvious reasons but gahhh i love the funny ballet show#idk how i keep forgetting how cute ahiru is. like her slapstick in the first few eps is way more prominent#and i just like it!!!! shes a silly goose!!!!!!!(duck) and i like her very much she's great#rue's stepping into kraehe's shoes (literally) For Real On Purpose stemming from wanting things to stay the same forever. aughh#like mytho's her one escape from it all he's the one thing/person she feels safe with#and to stick to something stagnant and loveless just so she can have someone to project those feelings onto who won't leave is. gahhhh#i also always forget how much i love rue like. YOU'RE GONNA BE OKAY#i wish mytho changed more with each shard but it's always fun to see how the prev episode's shard affects the next when it happens#which is decently often#early fakir's comedically evil toxic bf thing is still shocking to me. they turn him around so fast and it starts when mytho regains fear#imo. once mytho can Undeniably Suffer the negative effects of fakir's treatment he can't quite bring himself to do it#fakir resorting to these awful authoritarian abusive ways of keeping mytho under his control bc he's desperate and scared and overwhelmed#is like. augh hes so interesting to me. night and day swap though it's crazy how much work those like 4 episodes before akt 12 do for him#anyway. i love it it's great it's always great. comfort show indeed + i gotta get back to work now + bye#no but fakir doubles and quadruples down on never budging on his treatment of mytho bc again hes scared but also i think it's a little like#he suppresses all his feelings so he doesn't lose control over mytho and justifies it with mytho's lack of feeling#when he tells mytho to forget about it and that emotions are useless and stupid he's talking to himself too y'know#i think there's a squishy sentimental part of him he tried very hard to crush out of himself to better protect mytho (from himself + tutu#+ the raven etc) and once it's clear (though not immediately) that mytho has feeling and a will to regain his heart he starts helping him#he embodies warped devotion and loyalty as much as rue and similarly to tutu. fakir and rue devalue their own and mytho's feelings#while ahiru only devalues her own. her brand of self sacrifice is something to be challenged and overcome in the same way#but shes able to start all this because she cares about what mytho's feelings Would/Could be > what they currently are (nothing)#ANYWAY. good show. i forgot about the greenscreened in/obvious live action effect fire/fog in a couple episodes that was funny

walking around and looking at cosplays / showing off my own used to be my favorite con activity like a decade ago, but the con i go to blew up in popularity and also changed venues, and now the whole convention center is like shoulder to shoulder busy all weekend and my bf has to pull me through the crowds so i don't just get stuck in a sea of people
#plus there's nowhere to sit compared to the old venue#old place had a whole second floor with just tables and chairs and cushy benches and light foot traffic#now its so busy you can't even sit on the floor against a wall without getting tripped on#sorry i keep talking about cosplays i am in SUCH a specific nostalgic mood#also im old. used to be able to walk all weekend in shitty shoes now i can't even walk 1 day in decent shoes

Is there anything more unsettling than your four cats staring in the same direction down the hall, only for you to later find a spider on the back of your bedroom door?

#rae is such a dork#having four cats means relatively decent pest control on the house but also they will certainly chase things under the doors#Poor spider was probably terrified I'm sure and usually recluses are docile but I just don't like them out in the open#They're one of the most venomous spiders in America and they're everywhere but they usually stay away from people#Absolutely not fun to push a door open and come face to face with one eye level#I try to repel them with mint and cedar and regular vacuuming and noise but this is peak season for them#Usually they get trapped in the sinks and tub because they want water#So they usually show up in the kitchens and bathrooms#Mom got bit by one way back in the early 2000s and her skin right there is still rather scarred#They hide in clothes and boxes so just give a quick shake of the item and inspect shoes and gloves before sticking limbs in them#They also hide under furniture and woodpiles#They're honestly quite polite spiders that are afraid of you but they can bite if they feel threatened#So I have to share my house for half of the year with them as they come out#Rural Nowhere home problems amirite??
