On my most recent shoe buying outing, I noticed that some brands have decided to start calling G a "comfort width".

I've been forced to buy in widths since 2009. G has always been the standard width. H is comfort width. In case the shoe fetish crowd are interested, I've been a K for the last decade, though for reasons science can't explain I've recently, occasionally, started fitting a J in some brands that very definitely are not calling G "comfort" anything.

Doctors everywhere have already been surgically excising pussy toenails since as long as I can remember, not to mention there was that hallux valgus trend in time with that trend for skintight ballerina flats. G being a standard foot width is a stretch at best--and they're trying to change it to F???

Oh, and because they *list* the width, and offer G, they're trying to brand--and price--themselves as orthopedic footwear.

#not art (yet!!!!)#preddy good kristen I got goin on in this piece #for some reason my brain isnt letting me do this one. been stalling on it for a good few days. but I intend to break thru it #I need to put this on paper at least once #(its space sweepers. I think it would be funny if the kids are in that universe too but theyre just like off to the side doing their own #thing pretty much unrelated to the main plot. theyre delivery people. theyre all still teens. they get up to shenanigans and then #one day they look up like huh the guy who founded eden fucking died?? when #kristen specifically I got a decent amount hashed out in my brain somehow. she's like an engineered messiah with a grafted engine #along her upper body skeleton that'd let her spontaneously rearrange objects on a molecular level #so she can theoretically knit wounds or cure diseases by thinking abt it very hard #sadly the engine of course takes enormous amount of energy to power. so most of the time in practice she just #has a half-metal skeleton that doesn't do anything. so she's buff as shit on the upper side and one of her punches can break your neck #but her mobility is limited and she sprains her ankles like every other week. her shins have broken like a few times #I genuinely love the way her shoes n braces look in this one its very fun #there are a lot of choices I made in this one that are so fun and also just like. a result of putting them in space sweepers #and thinking to myself here and there hey this would be cool if it harkens back to their canon designs #not riz tho other than being human he is fully exactly like how he looks in canon. hes just like that #hes the navigator and he charts their courses by hand with a school calculator #(also technically their legal counselor since he's sorta responsible for not putting them in traffic control's hands)#drawing this does make me realise a lot of these dynamics are really fun lol. idk if Im gonna ever do anything like proper for this but #at the very least if I draw this the idea will be out there)

EDIT: How could I forget Allie’s favorite bug plush! I also changed Allie’s feet because they were broken and reversed. Also changed the color of Bellflower’s shorts but that’s the minor detail I decided at last minute. Also than you ALL for the love you have given this work!!!

After so long, I found some really nice black cap toed oxfords for a decent price. They just came in, and they're sooo pretty and slender and fit perfectly. I have to admit I teared up lol

so are kitchen clogs actually worth it for service work i know some people who swear by them but im skeptical vs a good shoe with decent insoles for standing all day and not getting too sweaty in the toes

#its getting hot again and my shoes are really comfy but i forgot theyre meant for cold weather and its starting to get yucks #if i can get a decent pair on sale i may try out the dansko or birkenstock clogs if anyone has preferenvcs

realized yesterday that my feet are completely fuckin Covered in mysterious little bruises, because my sneakers (old) (holes in them) (thin) (no cushioning) have not been protecting my feet (ehlers danlos) (lupus) (so so so injury-prone) from ANY hazards on the road (rocks) (pebbles) (roots) (uneven sidewalks) (dirt) (malevolent bus drivers), so i have decided i am going to spend this upcoming paycheck on some fuckoff expensive ($170) shoes (athletic) (cushioned) (long distance) (walking on clouds) (never feel pain or regret again) that i've wanted for like three years. indulgience.

i really have loved being in japan in general so far but most of my students are so fucking mean to me 😭😭 like they’re just so so sooo mean they parrot and mock me when i call someone’s name and laugh when i talk in general and it’s like how am i supposed to curry their favor or gain their respect when they are openly making fun of me from the second i walk into their classroom for the first time💀

#i think part of it is that 90% of the students are boys and they’re all super jocks so they don’t care abt english at all #also a lot of them are second semester seniors. and i was in their shoes not that long ago #which i understand. but like i wish they would at least be somewhat decent to me😭#like i wld fully be willing to say okay fuck the worksheet fuck the grammar let’s just shoot the shit. but none of them want to speak to me #also the ones who know i know japanese just speak japanese to me so i just stare at them blankly #at least in the us there were limits to the shit we cld say abt teachers in class because everyone was speaking english #to be fair i really struggle w conversational jpn & slang so most of the time i rlly don’t get the nuances #of what they’re saying to each other. and i can’t respond well at all. but i get the gist #its hard bc i’m new and also paired with new teachers for some classes so they don’t respect any ‘authority figure’ in the room #but like come on. don’t bully me.#i think part of the problem is there’s actually literally no consequences for anything. no detention or suspension or calls to parents #or getting benched for sports matches. which i think would actually get them to care #cuz there are things that technically i could try to do but there’s no way to actually enforce anything #idk. thinking out loud. the classes that have been decent & engaged have been super fun for me and energizing #but the others are rlly tough like so tough.#okay sorry i know no one cares

Why is it so exhausting to update commission prices

#my old prices are so CRUSTY and yet I lack the energy to update them #the issue is I need funding for bus fare n food because I ✨commute✨ to uni and umg. £8 + food which is roughly £10 so £18 a week Adds Up #I need about £54 to last me until roughly the end of semester and then I SHOULD be good #this isn’t me trying to guilt or pressure anyone into commissioning me btw there is NEVER any pressure to do that #I am just complaining like a bitch <33 and throwing my thoughts into a void #like also: why are hobbies so expensive #I budgeted. one I’m looking to get into costs a solid £100 or just over #mostly that’s. for decent running shoes. but either way #like am i gonna spend £40 on good shoes or have to spend £10 on bad shoes 9 separate times yk

walking around and looking at cosplays / showing off my own used to be my favorite con activity like a decade ago, but the con i go to blew up in popularity and also changed venues, and now the whole convention center is like shoulder to shoulder busy all weekend and my bf has to pull me through the crowds so i don't just get stuck in a sea of people

#plus there's nowhere to sit compared to the old venue #old place had a whole second floor with just tables and chairs and cushy benches and light foot traffic #now its so busy you can't even sit on the floor against a wall without getting tripped on #sorry i keep talking about cosplays i am in SUCH a specific nostalgic mood #also im old. used to be able to walk all weekend in shitty shoes now i can't even walk 1 day in decent shoes

#rae is such a dork #having four cats means relatively decent pest control on the house but also they will certainly chase things under the doors #Poor spider was probably terrified I'm sure and usually recluses are docile but I just don't like them out in the open #They're one of the most venomous spiders in America and they're everywhere but they usually stay away from people #Absolutely not fun to push a door open and come face to face with one eye level #I try to repel them with mint and cedar and regular vacuuming and noise but this is peak season for them #Usually they get trapped in the sinks and tub because they want water #So they usually show up in the kitchens and bathrooms #Mom got bit by one way back in the early 2000s and her skin right there is still rather scarred #They hide in clothes and boxes so just give a quick shake of the item and inspect shoes and gloves before sticking limbs in them #They also hide under furniture and woodpiles #They're honestly quite polite spiders that are afraid of you but they can bite if they feel threatened #So I have to share my house for half of the year with them as they come out #Rural Nowhere home problems amirite??

I’m going to cry.

I mean it’s not a bad way to make the shoes and I’ve definitely done similar things for the name of cosplay but all I can think about is how simultaneously hot and cold your feet would get with the ugg fur and also your toes just out for god and Jesus to see.

But in all a pretty good tutorial for what is otherwise some of the most frustratingly difficult parts of a cosplay.
