the fact that both helaena and aegon immediately refused to have their son's body pulled through crowded streets and yet it still happened anyway because everyone around them is more focused on exploiting this tragedy than comforting the people involved is breaking my heart a little. like i despise aegon, but his own mother walked away from him crying his eyes out in grief and disrespected his wishes for his dead child. and don't even get me started on everyone neglecting helaena and alicent worried about saving her own skin instead of trying to comfort her daughter and listen to her as she grieves.

it's been over a week but i legit haven't stopped thinking about this

#because i think it doesn't just apply to book publishing but really any kind of writing #including fanfiction #especially in current fandom times when everything feels just so fast paced #and it's SO easy to fall into this whole mindset of believing you gotta keep up with this pace #a lot of smart people have said a lot of smart things about the current state of fandom and i won't fall into a rant here #but i too often have to remind myself that me writing is supposed to be fun and not a fucking race #that i'm not competing with anyone #that i'm not creating 'content' to be consumed like some fast food #that there's no such thing as a flop fic if it was written with love and drive behind it #and yeah the jealousy man #it's an ugly feeling no matter which end you're on #comparison is a knife which we inevitably walk into #i love my writer friends to death and i will always always always cheer for them bc no one else will get this #but we're all just humans with very real and sometimes ugly emotions and i wish we could talk about this more openly #at the end of the day we want to be seen and acknowledged and we're our very own worst critics #ugh i have too many thoughts about this all #i need to lie down and feel normal again #lale.txt

Been doing martial arts and self-defense for many years of my life. I attend an all women's self-defense class, which mainly focuses on sexual assault aka positions I find myself in during sessions. I tested some of it with my dom outside of sessions and she said she actually really likes that I know how to defend myself even against her. She didn't elaborate but I guess it's because for one it demonstrates even more how willing and submissive I am with her and she has the reassurance that I could get out of situations if she overdoes it (she never does and I don't think she ever will) or doesn't hear the safeword/see the signal.

#funny games #1997 #austrian cinema #horror imagery #blood tw #michael haneke #susanne lothar #ulrich mühe #arno frisch #frank giering #stefan clapczynski #doris kunstmann #christoph bantzer #wolfgang glück #susanne meneghel #monika von zallinger #although it's been on my to watch list for a long long time‚ this is also exactly the kind of film that I'd never take any particular #effort towards finding‚ content to spend years saying 'oh yeah i really should watch that'. so I'm most grateful to @bimbobussy for taking #the initiative and providing me with a copy; years and years of interest in film and in horror have meant that i was more than familiar #with the plot‚ the layout‚ the fourth wall breaks‚ and that might have been something subconsciously putting me off getting round to this #but im really glad i did. what an experience. my prior knowledge didn't feel like a hinderence; instead it leant an awful expectation to #the earlier scenes‚ allowed for dreadful recognition of what was coming. and i still got played! the misdirection with the knife‚ dropped #in an early scene‚ the planting of a seed of an idea that's there just to be subverted‚ a blackly comic bit of sleight of hand.#Haneke fills the film with such subversions: it's in the 4th wall breaks‚ the first of which is brief and subtle enough to go nearly #unnoticed‚ but which build in defiance of audience expectation to become outright challenges to the viewer‚ a kind of accusation of #complicity in the horrors unfolding; and then again‚ those horrors: Haneke actually keeps most of the violence offscreen and for all its #reputation for shocking horror‚ you actually see very little; except for the aftermath of that violence‚ which we do see‚ which we're left #to sit with for an uncomfortably long time‚ another accusation perhaps‚ or simply acknowledgement that the worst can sometimes be for those #left behind‚ the witnesses and the mourners. something very like genius at work here‚ a troubling masterpiece on violence and its impact
