Lego still not sponsoring me (dark!Konig x fem!Reader)
Konig is a nerd who needs to get sprayed with water for being a fucking creep. You're an adorable cashier at the Lego Store in Berlin who doesn't know any better and is too nice to lose. He will have you. Mostly because he wants someone to do his Lego sets with.
Details count: 2922 AO3 TW and Tags: Dub-con/Non-con, age gap, size difference, kidnapping, awkward colonel Konig, nerd Konig, hurt/comfort, Konig's POV(mostly), awkward German, yandere Konig.
Tumblr media
You didn’t want to build Millenium Falcon with him.
You didn’t want to shower or eat, you didn’t want to do anything besides crying, and even though your tears, as he expected, were beautiful and adorable, it was kinda hard for König to take care of your mental and physical needs while he was rock hard from watching you cry so sweetly.
König is patient, kind, and a model citizen through and through. Why are you upset? He is doing everything he can, just to make you smile! Seriously, Schatzi, the desire to make him as miserable as you possibly can doesn’t make you pretty or cute or even the least bit adorable. Good thing that he is used to feeling sad and kinda of bullied – you’re lucky he doesn’t even try to feel good anymore. Not in his destiny book to live a good life. — I brought food.
You groan lightly, whimpering somewhere in the corner of his basement. To your justification, his basement is a bit dirty. He forgot to visit the house for months after deployment, which was never enough to fill out the blanks of loneliness in the empty rooms. His dogshits methods of choosing decorations also made the mere existence in the house a hard mission even in itself. He looked at the anime posters in the guest rooms, which made him want to sell the property to anyone willing to pay 50 Euros for the processing fees. The posters(Sword Art Online because why the hell not, he likes cool swords and a power fantasy about a loser getting the chick) and artwork of his queen and savior, The Busty Blond Lady From Fate because, unlike those waifu-obsessed freaks, he did have a life and not enough time to actually remember her name. Something about light sabers. Or cats. — Are you going to kill me?
He sighs because you sound like a broken record. All the time – the questions about his intentions, like you can’t see the tent in his pants every time you open your eyes, about letting you go, about at least allowing you to text your family that you decided to change your country of residence and would need to revoke your German visa. You’re way more soft than he thought you’d initially be – no fighting, no arguing, just pure terror and desire to die every time his hands brush over you. König is a sweet guy, as sweet as someone like him can be – but he only has a few weeks until his next mission, and even a few days of your moping around is bound to make him not just blue-balled, but also very, extremely, offensively hot-headed.
He spent two days with you chained up in his basement and, he thinks, that should be enough for foreplay. He is extremely generous and kind – usually, at this point, he’d already start breaking the fingers of whoever poor fuck is his torture victim for the mission.
— I don’t want to kill you.
You whimper – somehow, his answer didn’t calm you down. Fucking women and their inability to talk to their kidnappers – he considers spiking your food just this once, so he could have a nice session with your little drunk self and some roofies but, of course, he is a nice guy who brought you takeout in a reheatable container, with a cute plastic fork and some sparkling water in a glass, just so you won’t feel like he is making you eat some garbage. It’s good food, too – he’d love to cook like this, but the heights of his skills are runny eggs and burnt coffee. He hopes you like the Italian because it’s the most inoffensive stuff he could have brought you without resorting to pizza and cup noodles. He will never let you eat cup noodles on his watch.
— Are you going to rape me?
He can’t exactly say no because, as a matter of fact, pulling your cute body under his is one of his intentions. He wanted to do it since he was you in this fucking store, but, of course. saying this to a pretty girl is lame. And completely counter-productive. And would make him a villain in your eyes, even though he tries so fucking hard to be a hero. He can make you feel good if you were to just open your pretty legs for him and moan under his tongue – god knows, he wants to make you feel good. He wonders what would it take for him to please you. If he could have a full-time job at this.
— Nein. Thought I told you already.
— I don’t…I shouldn’t believe you.
He shook his head, pushing the plate(he had to go out of his way to actually put the pasta from the tray to a proper plate, enjoy this, woman) towards you. You’re adorable like this – naked, trembling, a bit too weak to actually fight him over not eating anything for the past two days – you’re repeating the same conversation over and over again and König wouldn’t mind living in a groundhog day if the loop would end with his fucking you on that thin mattress each time.
Speaking of mattresses – he needs to get you a thicker one.
Speaking of thicker mattresses – he needs to relocate you into his bedroom as soon as possible.
Speaking of his bedroom – he is fucking bricked.
— If you don’t trust me, why do you ask?
You bite your lips. He can see you’re hungry and thirsty – he doesn’t want to forcefully feed you, so, yeah, you better be very hungry very soon. He pushes the plate towards you, hoping you won’t launch it on his head. He survived worse, a 6’4 British dude in a ski mask falling on him with the speed of Brexit, but getting hit by a plate when your angry girlfriend is being an angry girlfriend is…the best thing that could ever happen to him, actually. Gott, he is miserable.
— I…I don’t know. Don’t want to get killed.
— I won’t kill you.
— But you will hurt me.
— I don’t have to do that, Liebling.
No, he doesn’t.
But he sees the way your plushy thighs are squeezing into that tiny corner where your mat is, your squishy body getting all shaky and trembly, your lips in a tight line with tiny blood droplets from biting on them too much – and, by his fucking god, you’re beautiful. He wants to make you wet, to make you squirm, to make you beg and cry for mercy as he pounds into the sweetness of your cunt. He wants to try you on the inside and out, lick you all over from the inside, and then make you lick your love juices from his lips.
König knows he is hard and can’t really hide it – it’s useless now, really, he is being very nice and considerate to you. Changing your life is hard, especially with how quickly you moved to his place – like a good boyfriend, he should help you adjust. And aid you in recognizing that he is, in fact, your boyfriend and future husband. The perfect partner to ever exist. — What is it?
— Pasta. It’s…it’s good. Should be good. He is nervous, anxious. Seeing a pretty girl in her natural habitat – a Lego store – is one thing. He was barely able to talk to you properly, especially right after his deployment, where the only female attention he ever got was Roze asking to cover her or additional female soldiers groaning in pain as he stomped them. But you…he shouldn’t be colonel around you – absolutely not. You’re soft and civilian, you’re as polite as a girl in a basement could be, and you deserve to have something nice for once in your life. Licking his lips, König gently picks up a fork and presses a small amount of pasta – rich, creamy, with some nice cheese that smells divine - -against your lips.
You refuse.
A smart move, he could have poisoned it – so he thinks for a few seconds, staring at you like a smart girlie you are, and then – lifts his hood. If only barely, revealing his scarred chin and bruised lips. The initial swelling after getting his head bumped by a guy who was speaking like an edgy teenager in the Counter-Strike lobby was already gone by the time he managed to get you into his basement – but no amount of rest could hide all other marks from his job.
Despite being a seasoned mercenary with hundreds of killed targets and completed objectives, he feels…insecure. You’re a nice girl, a good girl, the type that used to look at him with hatred while he was bullied at school. Hatred or pity – but you only look at him with fear, and it cements his understanding that you’re not going to give in to loving him so easily.
König sighs deeply, his lips, curved into that awkward, boyish smile that creeps on his face every time he as much as thinks about you, now transforming into a scowl as you proceed to whimper and try to get lost in the wall behind you. Like he wouldn’t be able to track your scent if you would disappear. He slowly presses his fork towards his mouth, chewing on the food – showing you that it’s not poisoned.
He smiles again when he sees you slowly parting your lips, expecting him to feed you with less of a fuss. He’d propose something else – maybe even untying your hands and allowing you to actually for yourself, but something in your helpless state made his cock throb in his pants. God, König knows he isn’t his strongest soldier, but could he please make you less adorable? He doesn’t want to push you on your knees and make you suck on him until he whimpers, but the way you lick all of the cheese from your lips and try your best to look presentable in front of him… The process of feeding someone shouldn’t really be sexual, but König gently pushes the hair away from your face and lifts up the fork over and over, sometimes only changing to bring a glass of water to your lips. He can do this all day. Every day. Pleasing you already becomes second nature – and he spends most of his life thinking that the only thing he can take care of is his rifle and a few tortured enemies that need their teeth extracted. You require gentle handling – and he wants nothing more but to give you that. Just…a bit later. Preferably after the already came in your pussy at least two or three times and made you choke on his dick as a little thank-you gift.
You finish eating after a short while, thanking him for bringing you a napkin to clean your lips. König gently caresses your head, enjoying the sensation of your hair under his palm – it’s like petting a cat. A soft little pet just for him and no one else – if only he could actually bring you to like him. He has a few bond activities in mind, though. — You liked it, ja?
You lick your lips again, and his breath hitches. This is going to be hard, this is going to be impossible, it’s worse than having to work with high Krueger on a ship that made everyone feel like they were the ones doing crack in the backroom of their makeshift base.
— I…I did.
He pets your head again like you’re his pet – and you gently move your head to lean into his touch. Perhaps you’re dumber than he thinks. Or way smarter – a clever strategy to make him relax and nice to you without making him too suspicious. You slowly get back into your corner, but König wouldn’t have any of it – he drags you back by your arm, making you whimper and sob in his hold. It’s bad, he doesn’t want you to squirm from under him as much as you do, but…if you don’t want to be a good girl, he might as well force you to.
You cry as he pushes you deep into the corner, his hands roaming over your body. Thank god he ripped your clothes before you woke up – now there isn’t anything protecting you from his hands, not even that adorable bra he ripped in pieces because, as much as he loved wearing a uniform with straps and buttons everywhere, he could not figure out how to take this thing off you without breaking it. The last time he was sleeping with a woman, she wore a sports bra that could be taken off easily. It’s your fault that you decided to be more girly, really. Not his.
His hands cup your breasts roughly. Tugs and twists your nipples, a few shaky moans telling him exactly how sensitive you are – he might not have a girl in a hot minute, too busy with being the best freaking mercenary in the world, but even he knows how to take care of a pretty thing like you. Your tits fit in his hands perfectly, even more, reasons to believe you were just made for him. Not for some lame job at a Lego store counter – you should be waiting on your knees in his bedroom, with your mouth open wide and neat to fit his cock right in. With some sweet things lingering on your tongue as he bullies himself right in, getting what he deserves for protecting peace – and installing violence – while doing his job. He might not be the best freaking guy around, but he deserves something nice.
He pinches your nipples until they’re firm and swollen, every little cry escaping from your lips is only encouraging him to proceed. Licks on the open skin of your neck until his eneve stubble makes you whimper from how sensitive you are – it should be painful, he thinks, with how bloody the little bite marks from his teeth have become.
König marks you as thoroughly as possible, smiling each time you cry and beg for him to stop. You’re changing between bad German and good English, between loud cries and small whimpers, which he can’t determine from pleasure to pain. Not like he cares, too determined to make you cry his name – even though you probably don’t know it. All of his desires to claim you taking full power now, not listening to the way you plead with him. Whimper for him. Your skin is a clear canvas, allowing him to paint you with hickeys and marks, enjoying the little blood droplets covering your collarbones.
— Quiet, please. Don’t…don’t move, Schatzi. I don’t want to hurt you.
— Please, please, just…anything but… — Won’t take long. Promise.
— I don’t want to- — Quiet. I know you don’t, Liebling. Just…Scheisse, you…fuck.
— Stop! — Can’t. I apologize, Schatzen. Relax for me, ja?
He whispers, he whimpers, he is almost out of his mind when he can finally put his tongue on your swollen nipples. For some weird, depraved reason, he almost expects the milk to start flowing from your chest, allowing him to drink up as much as he wants. If he could get you pregnant, he might enjoy it for a few months – although having a kid on his hip isn’t as fun as it could have. He tried to babysit Hutch kids once when he brought them to base – and it was the worst fucking day of his life. Besides, little children can’t be around Legos – it's already a deal breaker for someone like him.
Speaking of legos…
You wiggle in his grasp, as good as you can with your hands still in the handcuffs – he should give you that one, at least you aren’t just laying lifelessly in front of him. At least you’re putting up a fight. At least he doesn’t feel too bad about restraining you without proper reasoning. You lick your lips again, that cute tongue of yours going over all the bite marks. You take a deep breath, shaking in his hold. God, he can just look in your face the whole day – barely knows how to handle himself around you. — I…I thought you wanted to…build this set with me? Smart girl. Way smarter than he gave you credit for – you know how to make him stop in his tracks and finally look at you differently. Maybe, you’re too good for him. Maybe, he doesn’t really care about that. Millennium Falcon, still sitting in the box – König hoped you’d start slowly putting it together but, seemingly, you need a bit of encouragement. The only thing that could tug him away from your breasts is the expensive set sitting just next to him.
Might start bonding with you as well. He tugs away from your nipples with a loud pop, an obnoxiously wet sound emerging as a thin line of saliva connects your breasts and his tongue. You whimper when he smiles, that scarred face of his twisting in a huge grin. Knows he’s not the most charming person around, but it’s not like you have any choice now – not with the limited options he gave you. Like a good girl, you’d probably pick doing Lego Sets with him than taking his cock in that tight pussy of yours. He’d be satisfied with any outcome. — J…ja. I’d like that.  He has to give this one to you – you really know how to get a man going.
Bu building this insane set with him, that is.

the Zionists and the Nazis AUGUST 8, 2024
Tumblr media
THE HAAVARA AGREEMENT
Immediately following Hitler’s rise to power in 1933, the Nazis wasted no time in passing antisemitic legislation, including a boycott of Jewish businesses, and, between 1933-1938, a process known as “voluntary Aryanization” (which later became “mandatory Aryanization”) transferred Jewish businesses and assets to Germans. German Jews became increasingly desperate to flee, but no countries wanted to take in Jewish refugees, and this economic marginalization made emigration virtually impossible.
In 1933, Eliezer Hoofein, the director of the Anglo-Palestine Bank, and the Reich Economics Ministry negotiated the Haavara Agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Jews fleeing persecution in Germany could use their assets to purchase German goods for export, thus salvaging their assets and facilitating emigration to Palestine under the immigrant investor visa, in spite of severe British antisemitic immigration restriction policies.
Even so, the Haavara Agreement was met with staunch opposition, both among Zionist and anti-Zionist Jews. In response to the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses, Jews worldwide enacted a boycott on German goods themselves. The Haavara Agreement was not in line with the Jewish anti-German boycott, as the Jewish community in both Germany and Palestine would be purchasing German goods. German public opinion also opposed the agreement. The Haavara Agreement was dissolved after World War II broke out in 1939.
The Haavara Agreement, though deeply controversial, ultimately saved the lives of some 60,000 German Jews. For context, the Haavara Agreement was similar to making a hostage deal with Hamas…making a deal with a hostile, genocidal enemy to save the lives of your own people. It wasn’t Zionist-Nazi “collaboration” by any stretch of the imagination.
LEHI-NAZI TIES
Lehi, pejoratively known as the “Stern Gang,” was an extremist right wing Jewish terrorist group in Mandatory Palestine. Believing that the British occupation of the Land of Israel was a much bigger threat to world Jewry than Nazism, they tried to establish contact with the Nazis twice, hoping to establish an alliance. The Nazis rejected them both times, because the Nazis would not ally with Jews, regardless of their views.
Lehi constituted no more than 300 members, whose views were fringe and non-representative of the Jewish community.
Ultimately, the Nazis never would’ve allied with any Zionist group.
In 1937, a Nazi document on foreign policy read, “(1) The formation of a Jewish state or a Jewish-led political structure under British mandate is not in Germany’s interest…(2) Germany therefore has an interest in strengthening the Arab world as a counterweight against such a possible increase in power for world Jewry.”
JEWISH PARTISANS
The organized Jewish resistance during the Holocaust was predominantly Zionist. In fact, Zionism was a major motivator for Jews joining the resistance.
In Poland, the main partisan organization, Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (ZOB), meaning “Jewish Combat Organization,” was formed out of Zionist youth groups.
The first Jewish resistance organization in Nazi-occupied Europe, the Lithuanian Fareynikte Partizaner Organizatsye (FPO), meaning “United Partisan Organization,” had a strong Zionist presence. Two of its three leaders, Abba Kovner and Josef Glazman, were prominent figures in the Zionist movement.
In France, Jews, who comprised one percent of the total French population, formed between 15-20 percent of the resistance. In 1942, French Jewish partisans founded the Zionist Armée Juive, meaning “Jewish Army.”
Among the most recognizable Jewish partisan groups during the Holocaust were the Bielski brothers, who hid in the forest and rescued over a thousand Jews, and whose story was depicted in the film Defiance. The oldest Bielski brother and commander of the group, Tuvia, had long been interested in the Zionist youth movement.
WARSAW GHETTO UPRISING
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which lasted from April 16 to May 16, 1943, was the largest Jewish uprising against the Nazis during the Holocaust.
In March of 1942, a number of Zionist Jewish youth groups inside the Warsaw Ghetto first proposed the creation of a Jewish self-defense force.
After 250,000+ Warsaw Jews were deported to the Treblinka death camp in the summer of 1942, two Zionist organizations — the left-wing socialist Jewish Combat Organization and the right-wing Jewish Military Union — formed and began training.
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was a last-ditch effort to resist the Nazi liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto — that is, the deportation of all of Warsaw’s Jews to extermination camps to be gassed or worked to death. The uprising was led by the Jewish Combat Organization and the Jewish Military Union, which, again, were both Zionist groups.
According to German records, the only German casualties in 29 days of fighting during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising were 17 Nazi soldiers. The Germans responded by burning the entirety of the ghetto, resulting in 13,000 Jewish deaths, most of whom suffocated to death or were burnt alive. Another 36,000 Jews were sent to death camps.
THE YISHUV
Tumblr media
The Jewish community in British Mandatory Palestine fiercely opposed the Nazis, so much so that the Jewish paramilitaries, the Haganah and the Irgun, temporarily halted their resistance operations against the British and instead joined the British war effort against Germany. In 1944, the British established the Jewish Brigade, comprised of Jewish citizens of Palestine, seen in the above photo. Some 30,000 Jews volunteered to join the Brigade.
The Yishuv sent a number of paratroopers to Europe to rescue Jews from deportation to death camps, most notably Hannah Szenes, who was captured and executed.
Despite temporarily halting most anti-British operations, the Haganah continued carrying out Aliyah Bet to the best of their ability, illegally smuggling Jewish Holocaust refugees to Palestine with varying success.
Chaim Weizmann, the future first president of Israel, played an important role in convincing the British government to accept the Kindertransport, the organized rescue of 10,000 Jewish children, who were given refuge in the United Kingdom.
Tumblr media
ORIGIN OF THE ZIONISM = NAZISM LIBEL
The accusation that Zionists are Nazis has its roots in the British Foreign Office during the period of the British Mandate of Palestine. In March of 1945 — about two months before the Nazis even surrendered— the High Commissioner of Palestine, Lord Gort, told the Colonial Secretary in London that “the establishment of any Jewish State in Palestine…will almost inevitably mean the rebirth of National Socialism [i.e. Nazism] in some guise.”
In 1969, the United Nations passed the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Both the United States and Brazil wanted to add a clause including antisemitism. The Soviet Union, which had been heavily oppressing its Jewish population, worried that such a clause would be used to rebuke them for persecuting Soviet Jews. As such, they included a counter proposal, which was a clause that equated Zionism to Nazism. That way, they could say they were persecuting Zionists, not Jews. Neither clause passed.
In 1985, the Anti-Zionist Committee of the Soviet Public published a propagandist brochure known as the “Criminal Alliance of Zionism and Nazism,” which claimed that there was irrefutable proof that the Zionists not only had collaborated with the Nazis, but were also responsible for the genocide of Jews, Slavs, and others in Europe. When Israel captured and tried Adolf Eichmann in the 1960s, the Soviets painted the Israel-West Germany relationship as “evidence” that the Zionists had colluded with the Nazis. Soviet anti-Zionist propaganda in the Arab world was so pervasive that it even influenced the dissertation of current so-called “moderate” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, titled “The Other Side: The Secret Relationship between Nazism and Zionism.” According to Abbas, Israel captured Eichmann “to prevent the ‘sacred secrets’ of this [Zionist-Nazi] collaboration from becoming public.”

Hannah Szenes wasn’t tortured and executed for your disrespectful ass to come and say the Zionists collaborated with the Nazis 🙄

This thought might not be super well developed but I feel like in white-majority wealthy western countries there is a distinction between what is considered “civilised” white male crime and “uncivilised” crime by men of color. You can have a white man commit the same crime as a migrant man of color but the migrant man’s crime is blamed on his race, country of origin, whether or not he is there legally/documented, if he’s a refugee, etc. Meanwhile, white male citizens/immigrants/tourists commit the same crime and it’s looked at as Default Male Behavior. Like white men do Civilised Default Misogyny and Crime and men of color do Horrible Racialized Uncivilised Misogyny and Crime. I’m not excusing misogyny or violence by any man, but it’s important to note how alt-right and racist movements portray white men and their crime as “default” while men of color are exceptionally bad.
Radblr has a similar problem where white radical feminists hide their racism behind feminism. They say they “distrust all men” but often times hold extreme opinions about men of color, especially migrants, that they don’t about white men. Or they act like western governments should be able to ban male migrants from the Global South “just because they are men.”
I personally don’t hold these views but it’s how some of your anons are sounding. I’m curious what you think as someone who has immigrated to Germany from another country
i mean you basically put my views into words very well here. my issue is the obvious double-standard.
as for ~banning male immigrants~, frankly i think for a side of tumblr constantly saying not dating men is a “pipe dream”, i find it strange that they think any government would ban all males from entering their countries but would allow female immigrants & refugees. as if. i remember when i was struggling to get my visa to come to germany (primarily bc of racist singling out by the visa officers, they apparently do this all the time to women from certain brown countries), i was told by some that germany doesn’t like unmarried women of colour coming to germany bc they think we’ll just find a german man to marry and stay in the country, or that we’ll turn to prostitution.
these governments barely even punish rape to begin with, and y’all think they’d keep men out but let women in in order to protect local women? be realistic. they already discriminate against us in the process. they already tend to prefer young men bc they view them as definite additional workforce, and feel the opposite about young women bc they view us as potential burdens to the system. and they do this even more frequently to women of certain non-european, non-western nationalities. they’ve discriminated against MENA ppl so much that it had to go to court in the past and their discrimination was eventually ruled unconstitutional in germany.
but even ignoring that.. the idea of ‘ban male migrants! ban male refugees’ assumes that no woman ever would be disadvantaged by this further. many women cannot escape if not with male relatives. it’s pretty dangerous to go on a boat and try to reach another country, countless refugees lost their lives like this. female refugees often arrive with family, or went with their family, for a reason. if not with her husband, then potentially with her son, or her brother, or her father. they would also be impacted if they have to choose between leaving alone or leaving with male loved ones. especially considering how protective eastern families can be of women, like some of us have parents that don’t let us go out after a certain time even if we’re obviously adults and can make that choice for ourselves. many eastern women aren’t even allowed to study abroad bc of how possessive and protective our families can be. often males will escape first and then pay money to help their female relatives & loved ones leave more safely after them, often because of how dangerous it is to go by boat to escape. many female refugees already die on the way and there are no efforts to actually safely evacuate female refugees specifically, nor do western governments WANT to do that. the ones that don’t want immigrants & refugees don’t want ANY, they’re not going to limit it to males.
anyways yes, although men of every race & religion commit vile acts of misogyny against women, it’s sensationalised and racialised when men of certain racial backgrounds do it. and apparent “radical” feminists can’t even see past that and question who it will benefit if we argue that certain men are better than others… because that argument certainly won’t protect women, but it does prop up certain men. i thought that’s part of why we all opposed the whole “men of colour didn’t even partake in misogyny until white colonisers came!” argument but i guess not.

"In the heart-wrenching plea from Amira, a soul caught in the crossfire of war and displacement, the desperation for help resonates like a haunting melody. Her words echo the harsh reality of life in the Gaza Strip, a place that was once a home but has now transformed into a battleground where survival is a daily struggle. Amira introduces herself as a bridge between two worlds—one in Germany, where she now resides as a refugee with a new lease on life, and the other in Gaza, where her family grapples with the devastation of war. The urgency in her message is palpable, a plea for assistance to salvage the remnants of a shattered family life. Her mother, a 70-year-old woman, bears the weight of not just age but also the burden of chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Stranded in Rafah, a city where essential medications and treatments are scarce, she resides in a shelter with living conditions that border on the inhumane. The vivid image of their once-beautiful house in Gaza City, now lost, adds a layer of profound grief to the narrative. Amira's brother's family, too, has become a casualty of war, stripped of their possessions and left to rebuild from scratch. The dire circumstances extend to her sister's family, a unit of seven people, including three children, who find themselves homeless in the aftermath of conflict. Amira, now in Germany, grapples with the challenges of providing support from a distance. The bureaucratic hurdles further complicate the situation. Amira, driven by the desperation to reunite her family and provide her mother with the medical care she urgently needs, attempts to navigate the complex visa application process. The German-Palestinian Embassy's closure in Palestine necessitates a journey to Egypt, adding financial strain to an already dire situation. The exorbitant costs associated with traveling through the Rafah crossing become a formidable obstacle, especially for a family of considerable size. Amira, despite her own struggles as a refugee in Germany, extends a hand, seeking support from others. The sincerity in her request, coupled with the offer to provide evidence for her words, creates a compelling narrative that beckons compassion. The mention of potential channels, such as Western Union or a trusted person in Egypt, showcases Amira's resourcefulness in the face of adversity. In closing, Amira expresses gratitude for any contribution, emphasizing the collective power of individuals joining hands to make a difference. Her plea is not just a call for financial aid but a plea for empathy, understanding, and solidarity in the face of human suffering. It's a poignant reminder that, even in the darkest times, the human spirit can shine through, connecting us across borders and inspiring hope in the face of despair."

This series has repeatedly made reference to obscure events in the Dominican Republic from 1961 to 1966 which culminated in an American military invasion. They are relatively unknown and appear murky to outsiders. They united the CIA, the non-violent section of the civil rights movement, and a group of labour movement figures with links to Norman Thomas' post-Eugene Debs Socialist Party of America, the Democratic Socialist Party of today, and the Neoconservative movement that planned the Iraq War of 2003. The next two (maybe three) parts of the series will hopefully elucidate some of these events for readers. The previous part, Part 5, can be read here.
1965 was the fifth time America invaded the Dominican Republic. The fourth was in 1916, initiating an occupation that went on until 1924. America also controlled the nation's foreign trade from 1904 to 1947, collecting 50% of its revenue by heavily taxing its people on imports in order to pay off European powers with Citibank getting a commission to do the counting. These events bookended the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, 1930 to 1961. This resulted in a weak state unable to defend itself or the foreign corporations who wanted to invest in it.
Trujillo's government was a revolution of sorts because he directly took his methods from the mafia to govern. He'd spent years as a plantation overseer by day and gang leader by night, then joined the American-trained Dominican police and became an army officer. He learned how to use violence and manipulation to get what he wanted as well as how to pleas foreigners. In one case, he'd been sent by the occupiers to deal with a guerilla army in the interior. He was so successful that the American troops covered the reports of rapes and tortures he committed while doing so. As one of his trainers said, "He thinks just like a marine!" When the Americans withdrew, he retreated to a former castle that served as a military base, building up power until he could take advantage of a crisis and overthrow the government. Once in power, he set to creating state capacity for his rule by shaking down local industries one by one, collecting revenue and inserting loyalists into their leadership while allowing them the benefits of state backing through investment and coordination. He was so successful that he was the longest serving leader in the Caribbean's history at the time of his death.
Trujillo used a similar system of creating win-win situations to persuade American diplomats and investors to support him. He went on a charm offensive, building a tourism sector internally and using his one-time son-in-law, playboy Porfirio Rubirosa, as an ambassador and press officer. Rubirosa was not only wildly charismatic, he was also reported by Truman Capote to have an eleven inch penis. After divorcing Trujillo's daughter, he married two French actresses and the two richest women in the world back to back, making bank on his divorce settlements. Like much of the Dominican Republic's elite, he lived a charmed life, racing/crashing Ferraris and airplanes (including a B-25 bomber) internationally. Both he and his former father-in-law lived part of the year in lavish apartments in New York City, racing Ferraris and buying out brothels. Some of the money came from Dominican visas that Rubirosa sold to German Jews fleeing the Holocaust and Spaniards fleeing Franco. Trujillo had retreated there to convince the world that he had changed his ways after spearheading the massacre of tens of thousands of Haitians in his country in 1937. In the shadows he worked to mastermind a comeback, making it seem like his people organically wanted him again in the 1942 show elections. He won 100% of the vote.
Tumblr media
By 1947, the Cold War was on. Most people forget that this was a process initiated by a strong and muscular liberalism that had just defeated fascism and felt it could do the same to communism. Liberal intelligentsia in American government had undertaken a decade-long march through the institutions and created a new setup for the global economy with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, and Bretton Woods. It seemed to many in the Third World that America had turned over a new leaf and was ready to support democracy abroad. For the entrenched right wing forces in Latin America, however, it seemed like business as usual. Just as he had declared war on the Nazis, Trujillo now worked to find a communist menace to kill  to serve American interests. He used his agents to create a fake Marxist-Leninist party as opposition to run against him in the 1947 election. After picking up 92% of the vote, he used their supposed allegiance to Moscow to crack down on them, winning himself plaudits in Congress.
For many in Latin America, this was the last straw. In Cuba, 1200 men came together in what was termed the Caribbean Legion. Mostly exiles from Latin American dictatorships and sympathizers, they were ready to kill and die for liberalism. Some had fought in the Spanish Civil War and escaped death at the hands of the Franco regime when Trujillo had chosen to accept refugees from Europe as part of his developmental push, only to find their political allegiance was to socialism above all. They were backed by the elected leader of Cuba, Ramon Grau, who saw them as a way to topple a nearby enemy. They also pulled support from the president of Guatemala, Juan Jose Arevalo, who like his successor Jacobo Arbenz was an anti-communist liberal. Among the membership was Carlos Prio, the next president of Cuba, Juan Bosch, the most famous anti-Trujillo Dominican, Romulo Betancourt, a future president of Venezuela, Jose Figueres, the next president of Costa Rica, and a law student/basketball player at Havana University named Fidel Castro.
Figueres was a strange figure, perhaps the most fascinating of the Cold War. A plantation owner, he described himself as a "farmer-socialist". He invested his money in improving the living conditions of his workers, certain that it would make them more productive. He came to power with the help of the Legion in a very odd way, in a civil war that belongs with those pictures of Wikipedia where both sides are in odd alliances, with the right wing Nicaraguan dictatorship backing the Catholic Church and the Communist Party against Figueres' oligarch allies, supported by both America and the Guatemalan government it would later overthrow. Figueres immediately defenestrated those allies and took power for himself despite his talk of democracy, abolishing the army, nationalizing all banks, guaranteeing public education, giving citizenship to black migrants, giving women the vote, instituting social welfare, and banning the Communist Party. He helped establish the School of the Americas where the American military taught torture techniques and broke off relations with every American-backed dictator in the region. At one point, he was the subject of the only shooting war fought between different branches of the American government, when his State Department friends gave him planes to fight ones provided to Nicaragua by the CIA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Caribbean Legion would not have any other successes because it faced a classic problem of liberals during the Cold War: its membership was supportive of social reform, and that made the American government suspect they were secretly communists in disguise. The Legion had wanted to overthrow Trujillo, but the Americans convinced Grau to arrest them and confiscate their weapons. Castro managed to escape by jumping off the ship they were captured on and swimming to shore. Even as doors closed for the Legion, however, others opened. Ironically, it was another section of the American government that would save them. Their patron Figueres' liberal anti-communism had its fans in the CIA, which as an organization staffed largely by liberal WASPs from northeastern Ivy League universities felt that the combination would be sufficient to compete with the Soviets for hegemony among the Latin American peasantry. Figueres ended up on the CIA's payroll directly, codename HUMAIL. A lighter hand would be used for the Legion's membership, however.

The Heir of a German-Jewish Collector Is Suing the Guggenheim for the Return of a Prized Picasso Painting—Or $150 Million
The museum says the 1938 sale was a “fair transaction” and that the complaint is “without merit.”
The heir of a prominent German-Jewish family is suing New York’s Guggenheim Museum for the return of a prized Pablo Picasso painting, which he says was sold under the threat of Nazi persecution 85 years ago.
A lawsuit filed January 20 in Manhattan Supreme Court alleges that the painting, Woman Ironing (1904), was sold under duress in 1938 as its owner, Karl Adler, rushed to flee Nazi-run Germany with his wife, Rosi Jacobi. The plaintiffs in the case, which include one of Adler and Jacobi’s direct descendants—Thomas Bennigson—and numerous Jewish charities, are seeking the return of the artwork or $100 to $200 million in damages.
The case, which was filed under the provisions of the 2016 Holocaust Expropriated Art Recovery Act, may come down to whether or not the artwork was determined to have been sold illegally or through extortion.
“[Adler] would not have disposed of the painting at the time and price that he did, but for the Nazi persecution to which he and his family had been, and would continue to be, subjected,” the filing reads.
The board chairman of a major leather manufacturer, Adler acquired the Blue Period painting in 1916, from the Munich-based gallery owner Heinrich Thannhauser. Twenty-two years later, the businessman and his wife fled Germany amid increasing threats of persecution from the Nazis.
The couple planned to immigrate to Argentina and needed money to cover the cost of short-term visas and the Nazi-instituted flight tax. As part of an effort to liquidate his assets, Adler sold Woman Ironing to Heinrich Thannhauser’s son, Justin Thannhauser, for $1,552—or roughly $32,000 today.
The heir’s complaint characterizes the sale as “forced” and its price as “well below” market value.
“Thannhauser, as a leading art dealer of Picasso, must have known he acquired the painting for a fire sale price,” the suit says. “At the time of the sale, Thannhauser was buying comparable masterpieces from other German Jews who were fleeing from Germany and profiting from their misfortune.”
“Thannhauser was well-aware of the plight of Adler and his family,” the complaint goes on, “and that, absent Nazi persecution, Adler would never have sold the painting when he did at such a price.”
Citing its own provenance research, the Guggenheim said in a statement that the plaintiff’s case is “without merit.”
Woman Ironing entered the museum’s collection in 1978, following an extended loan and promised gift from Justin Thannhauser in 1965. But before the acquisition was final, Guggenheim administrators looked into the painting’s past and contacted Karl Adler’s son, Eric Adler, as part of the process.
The younger Adler “did not raise any concerns about the painting or its sale,” according to the institution. The museum also pointed out that the Thannhausers, too, were Jewish and subject to Nazi persecution.
“The extensive research conducted by the Guggenheim since first being contacted by an attorney representing these claimants demonstrates that the Guggenheim is the rightful owner of the painting,” the museum’s statement went on. “There is no evidence that Karl Adler or his three children, now deceased, ever viewed the sale as unfair or considered Thannhauser a bad‐faith actor, either at the time of the transaction or at any time since.”
A spokesperson for the Guggenheim further explained that the painting is currently on view at the museum, as it has been almost continuously since being acquired 45 years ago. The artwork is not accompanied by signage stating that it “changed hands due to theft, seizure, confiscation, forced sale, or other involuntary means” during the Nazi era, as required by a recently passed New York law.
A lawyer representing Adler and Jacobi’s heir and the other plaintiffs did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Luxembourg Work Visa 2024: All You Need to Know About the Latest Updates
Luxembourg, one of Europe’s smallest yet most prosperous nations, has emerged as a prime destination for professionals seeking global opportunities. With its thriving economy, diverse industries, and high standard of living, Luxembourg offers numerous benefits for those looking to work and settle in Europe. The work visa for Luxembourg is a key pathway for international professionals, and the country’s updated visa policies in 2024 have made this process more efficient and appealing.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest updates to Luxembourg’s work visa system.
1. Streamlined Digital Application System
One of the most significant changes to the work visa for Luxembourg in 2024 is the introduction of a fully digital application portal. This system simplifies the submission process, enabling applicants to upload documents, track their application status in real-time, and receive notifications about any updates. The portal is multilingual, making it easier for non-French or non-German speakers to navigate.
This digital transformation reflects Luxembourg’s commitment to modernizing its immigration system and reducing processing times for visa applications.
2. Increased Salary Thresholds for EU Blue Card Holders
For highly skilled professionals seeking an EU Blue Card, Luxembourg has adjusted the salary thresholds in 2024 to reflect current economic conditions. While this increase ensures competitive pay for applicants, it also aligns with Luxembourg’s goal of attracting top-tier talent in fields like IT, healthcare, finance, and green technologies.
For those who do not meet the EU Blue Card criteria, Luxembourg’s national work visa remains a viable and efficient alternative.
3. Simplified Qualification Recognition
Recognizing foreign qualifications has historically been a complex aspect of applying for a work visa for Luxembourg. In 2024, the government introduced measures to simplify this process. Applicants with degrees from accredited institutions can now benefit from faster qualification assessments, ensuring a smoother visa approval process.
This update is particularly beneficial for professionals in high-demand sectors, such as engineering, digital technologies, and medicine.
4. Focus on Family Integration
Luxembourg’s 2024 visa policies emphasize family-friendly provisions. Dependents of work visa holders now have expedited pathways to residence permits and can access work or study opportunities. These changes make Luxembourg an ideal destination for professionals relocating with their families.
The country’s excellent healthcare, education, and safety standards further enhance its appeal as a family-oriented destination.
5. Opportunities in Emerging Sectors
Luxembourg is prioritizing the growth of sectors such as green energy, fintech, and cybersecurity. The updated visa policies make it easier for skilled workers in these fields to secure a work visa for Luxembourg, aligning their expertise with the nation’s evolving economic needs.
These opportunities highlight Luxembourg’s forward-looking approach to economic development and its desire to attract global talent.
Final Thoughts
The 2024 updates to the work visa for Luxembourg mark a significant step toward making the country more accessible and appealing to international professionals. With a streamlined application process, family-friendly policies, and a focus on emerging industries, Luxembourg offers a compelling package for those seeking to work in Europe.

[ad_1] Imagine a man who worked as a dishwasher to fund his education might soon become the first Indian-origin person in the German Parliament (Bundestag) on the Conservative Party CSU’s ticket in Germany.  This is the incredible journey of Siddharth Mudgal, a Jaipur-born, who came to Germany 21 years ago to make a difference—a difference he has undoubtedly made.  Early Years (Photo Credit: Siddharth Mudgal) Speaking to NewsMobile, Mudgal remembers his earlier days in the new country, “Germany’s meticulous efficiency and structured systems, which initially felt overwhelming but soon became qualities I deeply admired. When I arrived 21 years ago as a student, I worked as a dishwasher to fund my education. It was a humbling experience, but it taught me the value of hard work and resilience.”  However, Mudgal admits him working as a dishwasher sounded almost comical to his family back home in India, as the job was unfamiliar at the time. Mudgal started from scratch and climbed the corporate and political ladder.   In 2010, Siddharth Mudgal with Home Minister Joachim Herrmann In 2010, Home Minister Joachim Herrmann recognised his extraordinary contributions by granting him early discretionary citizenship.  In 2017, Siddharth Mudgal received one of the highest honours from Federal President Joachim Gauck Seven years later, in 2017, he received one of the highest honours from Federal President Joachim Gauck, a heartfelt acknowledgement of his dedication to German society. His LinkedIn profile throws an insight into over twenty years of international leadership at companies such as Amazon, BMW, SAP, and HelloFresh. Primary Focus: If Elected  The German parliamentary elections, or Bundestag elections, are scheduled for February 23, 2025. So, if elected to the prestigious chair, Mudgal would need to deal with a list of issues once his tenure begins. “My primary focus will be on revitalising the German economy and creating jobs, cutting bureaucracy, and fostering innovation. We need investments from partner countries to create jobs in Germany. The Mittelstand – the backbone of our economy – is being strangled by taxes and red tape. My focus will be to implement tax reliefs, establish national tech hubs, and ensure Germany reclaims its position as a global leader in innovation.” On International Students  Creating a welcoming environment for international students is also a priority for Mudgal. “Germany must become the top destination for the brightest minds globally. To achieve this, we must streamline visa processes, ensure timely approvals for students and increase scholarships, particularly in STEM fields. Facilitating family reunification for students and professionals is crucial for attracting top talent and ensuring long-term commitment to our country. Creating a welcoming environment for international students will enrich Germany’s academic institutions and contribute to our economy and innovation ecosystem.” On Migration Policies Like other global leaders, Mudgal believes migration must serve the dual purpose of addressing labour shortages and maintaining societal harmony. “I strongly advocate for fast-track visas with a maximum processing time of six weeks for critical sectors like IT and healthcare. The recent changes in migration law allowing Blue Card holders (post-March 1, 2024) to bring their parents as dependents are a positive step. However, these rights must be extended to earlier migrants and German citizens, provided they can demonstrate financial capability and arrange for medical insurance. Such policies will enhance fairness and equity in the system while addressing practical realities faced by migrant families. Security, however, must remain non-negotiable. We need robust mechanisms to prevent misuse of the system while fostering integration through mandatory language acquisition and cultural orientation programmes.”  On The Political Road What made Mudgal join politics? “Party leaders Friedrich Merz and Markus
Söder have emphasised that Germany needs experts to revive the economy and craft forward-thinking policies. This resonates deeply with me. As a technocrat with global leadership experience, I bring solutions that Germany urgently needs: decisive action, accountability, and results-driven strategies. Politics should never be about personal power; it is a profound commitment to public service. I stepped into this role not out of ambition but because I could no longer stand by as the foundations of our prosperity crumble. Having worked in high-stakes environments worldwide, I’ve seen what drives success and leads to failure.  My expertise in restructuring, innovation, and leadership uniquely equips me to tackle the challenges we face today. Now is the time for bold, innovative, and decisive action to ensure Germany’s future remains strong and secure,” said Mudgal.  On India-Germany Relationship President Steinmeier with Mudgal In 2016, Mudgal founded the German-Indian Business Forum. The idea behind setting up the German-Indian Association (GDIZ) and Business Forum was to bridge the cultural and economic gaps between the two nations. “India’s market of 1.4 billion people, thriving startup ecosystem, and $1 trillion digital economy offer unprecedented opportunities. By fostering bilateral trade, enabling technology transfer, and strengthening economic ties, the forum serves as a platform for policymakers and business leaders to create partnerships that enhance bilateral relations and drive economic growth in both countries.”  On Indian Diaspora In Germany For Mudgal, the Indian diaspora is a strong community in Germany. “The Indian diaspora in Germany is growing from 100,000 two decades ago to over 300,000 today, exemplifies the power of skilled migration. Indians are among the highest-earning and best-integrated communities, contributing to critical sectors like IT, healthcare, and engineering. Our diaspora isn’t just well-integrated – it thrives, driving innovation and creating jobs. Indians also embody values of hard work and adaptability, strengthening Germany’s economy and multicultural fabric.”  India-Germany relations have a strong foundation, but Mudgal feels a need to accelerate collaboration in key areas. “Technology Transfer: Germany can collaborate with India in cutting-edge fields like AI, green energy, and digital payments. Bilateral Trade: Streamlining trade policies and securing €10 billion in annual investments from India will create jobs and boost innovation. Educational Exchange: Expanding scholarships and collaborative research programs will deepen cultural understanding and foster a generation of leaders who bridge the two nations. With China’s assertiveness and geopolitical instability, India emerges as a critical ally for Germany to counterbalance global uncertainties and drive shared growth.” Armed Forces Background Gives Mudgal An Edge Over Others Siddarth Mudgal Mudgal hails from armed forces background and believes leadership is about making tough decisions under pressure. “My experience in an armed forces family instilled discipline, strategic thinking, and resilience, while my corporate career taught me how to lead transformational change from the front and deliver measurable results. From restructuring global companies to managing diverse, cross-cultural teams, I have consistently focused on outcomes.”   [ad_2] Source link

Unlocking Affordable Education: Understanding the Cost of Studying in Germany
Germany has become one of the most sought-after destinations for students seeking quality education without exorbitant expenses. Known for its academic excellence and vibrant cultural experience, it stands out as a top study destination. For Indian students and others aspiring to study abroad, understanding the financial aspects is crucial. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the cost of studying in Germany and how you can make the most of your budget with the help of an overseas education consultant.
Tumblr media
Tuition Costs: A Rare Benefit in Germany
One of the primary reasons Germany is so appealing is its tuition-free education at public universities. Yes, you read that right—most public universities in Germany do not charge tuition fees for undergraduate and some postgraduate programs. Students typically only pay a nominal semester fee, which ranges from €150 to €350. This fee often includes public transport access within the region.
However, private universities operate differently, with tuition fees ranging from €20,000 to €30,000 annually, depending on the course and institution. Programs in fields like business and management at private universities tend to be costlier.
Living Expenses: What to Expect
While education costs are minimal, living expenses in Germany vary based on the city. On average, students should budget around €850 to €1,200 per month for accommodation, food, transportation, and other miscellaneous expenses. Here’s a breakdown of top study destination:
Accommodation: €300 to €700 per month, depending on whether you live in a dormitory, shared flat, or private apartment.
Food: Approximately €150 to €250 per month.
Transportation: Many students save on transportation by using semester tickets provided by their universities. If not included, monthly public transport passes cost around €60 to €100.
Health Insurance: Mandatory for all students, costing about €110 per month.
Cities like Munich and Frankfurt are on the higher end of the cost spectrum, while Leipzig and Dresden offer more budget-friendly options. An overseas education consultant can help you choose a city and university that aligns with your financial situation.
Additional Expenses to Consider
Visa and Residence Permit Fees: Indian students need to apply for a student visa, which costs €75. A residence permit is also required, with an initial fee of €100. Additionally, students must show proof of financial resources, such as a blocked account with a minimum of €11,208 annually.
Learning German: Although many programs are taught in English, learning German is often essential for internships or part-time jobs. Language courses can cost between €150 and €600, depending on the level.
Study Materials: Books and other academic resources may cost €50 to €100 per semester. Digital libraries and second-hand books are economical alternatives.
Part-Time Work Opportunities
To offset living expenses, students in Germany can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week during the semester and full-time during breaks. Typical part-time roles include jobs at restaurants, delivery services, or university assistance positions, with wages ranging from €10 to €15 per hour. These opportunities not only help manage costs but also provide valuable work experience.

With universities like the Technical University of Munich, Heidelberg University, and RWTH Aachen University leading globally in research and innovation, students receive a world-class education.
