Nice rockruff!! Do they have a name or anything?
Thanks! His name is Wuffels. I, uh, named him when I was younger. I'm not from Fantum, I just thought it sounded cute at the time, and he won't answer to anything else now. He's stubborn like that. Here- want to see a picture?

I'm not sure what happened to the lense. Maybe I need to work on my picture taking abilities...

niceys positive anon!! i don't agree with you on everything but you are so clearly like well read and well rounded that you've helped me think through a lot of my own inconsistencies and hypocrises in my own political and social thought, even if i do have slightly different conclusions at times then u (mainly because i believe there's more of a place for idealism and 'mind politics' than u do). anyway this is a preamble to ask if you have recommended reading in the past and if not if you had any recommended reading? there's some obvious like Read Marx but beyond that im always a little lost wading through theory and given you seem well read and i always admire your takes, i wondered about your recs

boys on the radio | mark webber
can’t get over his joke about the french kiss vs an australian kiss
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was three specific times when Mark heard your voice on the radio. He remembers them exactly.
German Grand Prix 2009
The first Mark heard your voice on the radio was after he won his first Grand Prix. He was beyond happy. Before the race, you had told him you were still going to be proud of him no matter what. He did promise you he was going to win and he delivered.
His race engineer had told him through the radio how good of a job he did, but then he heard him mention his girlfriend’s name.
“Mark! You did so well! That was incredible! I love you so much, I love you.”
He melted as you spoke. This win was for you.
“I couldn’t have done it without you, love. You make me so fucking happy. One day, I’ll marry you.”
Your relationship was just a year long, but he knew that you and him were soulmates. It was true.
On the other side of the radio, you blushed. This was the first time Mark had mentioned marriage to you. You weren’t opposed to the idea, in fact being married to Mark sounded like a dream. Hearing it from him gave you butterflies, as corny as that sounded.
“I love you, always.” You heared Mark say one last time.
Malaysia Grand Prix 2013
The second time Mark heard your voice on the radio was in 2013. It was your first race attending as a married couple since Mark kept his promise of marrying you. It was supposed to be a happy day. You watched as the teammates battle each other on the track. It was definitely a hard watch. You knew Mark would rant about it later on. Sebastian had ignored team orders and that was all anyone could talk about.
The checkered flag was waved, Sebastian taking the victory. You could already hear Mark telling you how frustrating it was.
“P2, Mark, P2.”
“Put her on now.” He demanded. His race engineer immediately knew who Mark was referring to.
“You did great, Mark. It’s okay.” You said, but no amount of words could make him less bothered.
“I did a shit job.”
“You could never. I’ll wait for you, alright? I love you so so much, okay? Don’t bring yourself down.”
After talking with him, you were accompanied by Mark’s dad to watch the podium ceremony. Mark watched you from his place and gave you a smile, even if he didn’t win. You blew his a kiss and mumbled an ‘I love you’.
After the ceremony and a quick ‘chat’ with Sebastian and the team, you and your husband were on your way to Greece for a much needed last minute vacation. It was Mark’s idea anyway, he knew how much you wanted to visit Greece and you knew that he needed a break so it was perfect.
Sao Paulo Grand Prix 2013
The third time Mark heard your voice on the radio was after his last race in F1. He came in second as Sebastian took home another victory.
“I think I’m about to cry.” You said to Mark. “Are you crying?”
“I’m out here sobbing actually.” He joked. “Thank you for sticking with me. I love you, darling.”
“Well you’re not getting rid of me that easily.”
“I’ll see you at home, honey.”
“Can’t wait, handsome.”

Exclusive: Lewis Hamilton Will Drive Ayrton Senna's McLaren In Tribute At the São Paulo GP
Action will be held at 5 pm on Saturday in Interlagos, after the end of the official Formula 1 track activities
According to information from Grupo Bandeirantes, Lewis Hamilton is the driver chosen to drive Ayrton Senna's McLaren in the tribute that will be held at the São Paulo Formula 1 GP. The action, called "Senna Sempre," is scheduled for 5 pm next Saturday (November 2), when all official track activities have ended. The car chosen for the tribute is the McLaren MP4/5B, with which Senna won his second championship in the 1990 Formula 1 season. Before that, on Thursday ( October 31), the car will be displayed at an event on Avenida Faria Lima, the economic epicenter of the capital of São Paulo. The agenda will feature the presence of Emerson Fittipaldi. The tribute car was even highlighted in the program this Tuesday (October 29) at the Autódromo de Interlagos, in the final stretch of the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix. Hamilton never hid his idolatry and identification with Ayrton Senna. The Brit, who even has honorary Brazilian citizenship, already drove the three-time champion's 1988 McLaren when he was still a driver for the British team. Hamilton was also thrilled in 2017 when he won a helmet from his idol after equaling Senna's number of pole positions at the Canadian GP. The person who also paid tribute to Ayrton on the 30th anniversary of the Brazilian's death was Sebastian Vettel, who drove the 1993 McLaren at the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP, in Imola. On that occasion, the German, who owns the car, stopped on the main straight with the flags of Brazil and Austria, in tribute to Senna and Roland Ratzemberger, who also died on the weekend of the 1994 San Marino GP. Senna will be one of the honorees at the São Paulo GP this weekend, alongside Gil de Ferran and Wilsinho Fittipaldi. The race is the 21st of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

"Over the centuries, the Empire has grown in size and in the number of conquered peoples. It once possessed an area equivalent to one-sixth of the globe, stretching from the Pacific to the German border, on which the sun never set and which was ruled by an autocrat Tsar who owed satisfaction only to God."
The last tsars - a brief untold history about the Romanovs | Paulo Rezzutti.

Hi there! I have a request that might be tricky so feel free to ignore this ask. So I'm extremely fascinated by these certain types of vintage Christine's wedding dress bodices that were used in 1990s atleast in Hamburg and Japan and more recently in Brazil. The bodice was made of "stripy" fabric and the basque/belt was quite wide. I wondered could you make a photoset of those bodices? Thank you!
YES! These bodices are absolutely masterpieces. They are so dramatic, so hourglass shaped, so period looking. So... Bjørnson. I love them to pieces and pretty much screamed of joy when they decided to use them for the principals in the Sao Paulo revival.
Their origin is in very early West End days, as well as the first European productions in Stockholm, Vienna, Scheveningen, Hamburg, Basel etc. As the Japanese production replicated West End at the time, they could also be seen there, and is more or less made in that style today. Here's some:

Anna Maria Kaufmann, Hamburg c. 1990:

Elisabeth Berg, Stockholm c. 1990:

Ute Baum, Basel 1995:

Colby Thomas, Hamburg 1998 (which is a bit different in fabric and in basque than the others, but the latest incarnation of the style in Germany before they started doing the current look):
