when sister and I first watched JatP in a moment of hilarity sister was trying to say trevor but came out it with trobby (trevor and bobby) and we have never stoped calling him that

i love trobby, nonny. it really is as ridiculous as bobby deserves. 😂 fun fact, when my little one first started talking, one of his favourite plushies was this little guy:

(too funny that the gif actually links back to me.) it's a very grumpy little dog from a german children's programme and he's called "moppi". but my little one couldn't pronounce it correctly, so instead always called the little plushie "bobby". and since then i always have to think of bobby as this grouchy little guy. it kind of fits ngl. 😉

153! 142 of those are JatP, and I'm working on one that would be a really cool number 150... so maybe I gotta write 7 short ones first...

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

651,798. Since 2021. Yes I have a problem.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Julie and the Phantoms and The Bright Sessions almost exclusively at this point, but I also have Percy Jackson and Supernatural fics on Ao3. Back in the day, I wrote a ton of PJO on fanfiction.net and then a handful of fics in like 8 other fandoms.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

far from hurt is where healing occurs -- JatP, Rayvor Reconciliation, 276 kudos

My JatP Big Bang fic from last year! A lot of shit happens before we get to the happy part but it actually does end really nicely for everyone :)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I feel like I did... once... I do not remember what it was for or about and i'm pretty sure I deleted the comment. which is probably good in the long run that it happens rarely enough that i forget the details.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I occasionally write smut. I do not consider myself good at it. So I often don't post any. Closest I've got is the above linked mark bryant's different trauma fic and its like. five paragraphs in one scene.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I do! Haven't posted a ton, I don't think I have any on ao3, and a lot of what I call a crossover in my head and google docs is just a fandom crossed with ocs @joyandthephantoms and I made up and like to put places.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, and thank god, I think that would destroy me.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but that would be really cool if anyone ever wants to!

Yes! Quite a few. Gonna shout out time travel with @a-tomb-with-a-view and toxic besties with @weneedglitter

this is an impossible question to answer. Whichever one i'm currently thinking about at any given moment :)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

this is a trick question. there are WIPs i want to finish and i probably will because i'm stubborn, and there are WIPs i doubt i will finish but mostly because i don't want to.

dialogue, character, Concepts and Images

description, exposition, action, setting. basically all the things you don't need in good fanfic which is why i like writing fanfic :)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

fine if the translation is really obvious from context, fine if in small doses where it wouldn't be suuuper annoying to google the translation. whole conversations i will inevitably skip, although i did read a really cool Captain America fic once where there was some German dialogue and on ao3 the paragraphs were hyperlinked so that you hovered over them and saw the translation.

Percy Jackson! my fanfiction.net accounts are still up, but don't look at them, they're not good /lh.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

not sure there's an easy answer to this! sometimes i write things just to write them and post them just to get them out of my google docs, and sometimes i write things cause the idea won't let me go, and i post them cause i'm really proud and want some validation from strangers (and friends!) on the internet. my favorite one is whichever one I'm most proud of in the moment, which is usually the one I just finished, but even the ones I feel don't hold up as well or that i could've written better, i'm still really proud of, cause i made a hat! This was fun! i haven't been active on this account for a while, but i liked getting back into the swing of things, so if anyone still looks at this blog and actually read this, feel free to send me an ask with more questions/comments about my fics! i always like talking about them :)

Mega Con London BTS Recap

Since this is a more personal recap of MegaCon London (and a bit of a comparison with Back to the Musical World con by Dream It), I didn't include it in the JATP info dump from yesterday.

BTTMW backstory

Let's do some backstory first. As you may know, the official JATP cancellation was announced at the first Back to the Musical World con back in 2021. I wasn't there for multiple reasons including Covid but also I just got into the fandom and it felt weird. I'm socially awkward - I cannot look into people's eyes, I stutter - especially when talking English - or ramble and I struggle to just touch strangers which is not helpful for photo ops.

So what I was supposed to do there? These people are actors - strangers I have nothing to do with. They aren't the characters I've fallen in love with. Yeah, not my thing, I thought.

However, when the BTTMW2 got announced, I was like 'You know, let's go to just show the cast how much you loved the show'. It was supposed to give me some closure. So I went.

And while the con was a fucked-up disaster in terms of organization and schedule - on Sunday, Charlie signed autographs until 10 pm, and Owen would have done the same if his mom hadn't cut off his line. (On that note: Never mess with a German mom protecting her kid. You'll lose.) But meeting the cast was an entirely different experience. I'd never interacted with them before, so I was anxious as fuck. However, they were so nice and considerate - and seeing them goof around was just adorable.

And not just the cast. I met so many amazing people there who are now my friends. Big shoutout to them!

So, despite my hatred for Dream It, I went to BTTMW4 (and thankfully it was less chaotic than BTTMW2). But I was also determined to go to MegaCon bc I knew Jeremy wouldn't come back to Paris. (Unlike the other JATP cast members, he's done plenty of other cons before and knows that you shouldn't be so drained that require alcohol to make it through the day.)

BTTMW vs MegaCon London

So, just in general: MegaCon was clearly the better experience.

Firstly, it was cheaper than DI. Much cheaper.

(Note 1: The * prices are from 2022 since Jeremy wasn't at BTTMW4. In 2023, the photo with Madi, Owen & Charlie was already €180. All four would have been over €200 for sure.

Note 2: The prices for MegaCon were originally in £. The price in € is what I paid according to my credit card.

Note 3: Even though not 100% accurate: € = $)

Obviously, Charlie canceled later. But I automatically got a refund. So bonus for MegaCon.

Unlike with Dream It, you were allowed to film and take pictures everywhere, which was cool. And since the panels were exclusively in English, you actually got way more content. The panels were also much longer, and it seemed like the cast was more at ease. For example, Owen started to play body drums on stage, and he initiated the boomshakalaka without being drunk. This is such an incredibly sad thing to say, but I've never seen him that relaxed during a panel.

Also, shoutout to the many fans that were at the Saturday panel. According to the hist, it was the largest crowd they had on Saturday. (If MegaCon had been smarter and had announced the Sunday panel before the people got their passes, it would have had a huge audience, too.)

The autographs ran smoothly, and there was always a queue, which was good bc Own confirmed that it was Jeremy who convinced MegaCon to invite him and Charlie. (Madi got invited later - I assume after people haunted them on IG about her.) MegaCon was wary about it bc they had no idea if the cast was worth the money. I hope the audience on Saturday, the lines for the autographs, and the massive delays at the photo studio caused by the JATP fans (and technical issues) convinced them.

Side note: After Charlie canceled, I got an email from MegaCon. And obviously, I know they just used some phrases to placate us. But I still hope they meant it when they wrote,

MegaCon, you won't read this. But if you get them again, I'll be there!

(And again shoutout to the amazing people I met in London. To my fellow German tumblr friends: I loved meeting you guys and hanging out with you!)

So the only thing that wasn't great were the photo ops. Yeah, most of the Saturday photos are terrible bc of the fucked-up lighting, and due to technical issues, there were so many delays. (Though to be fair, BTTMW also had issues with photo ops.)

So overall, I genuinely enjoyed MegaCon, and I'm very excited to head off to Dublin on Saturday to give Jeremy the birthday card. To all the people who signed it: THANK YOU!

Some other random things that don't fit anywhere

Not Owen assuming that Deutsche Bahn must always be on time bc Germans are always on time. Bro, I know it's been a while since you visited Germany ... but please, that was mean.

When I gave him ghostie!Willie, Owen told me how much his family loves the little ghosties 🥹🥹🥹 (which explains why his dad was in my IG stories after he posted the pic of the ghosties.)

It's random, but this con was so much more balanced in terms of fans. I remember fans being kinda uninterested in Jeremy at the BTTMW - some fans even got angry at him bc he refused certain poses. At MegaCon, the interest was equally split between those three, and it made me happy.

Here's the lovely ghost merch I bought at MegaCon. Obviously, the pride ghost and the skateboard ghost are Willex, the couple is Juke, and the ghosts with the kitty and the one with the pumpkin are both Reggie! (I talked to the guys running the stalls, and they were so baffled about all the JATP fans - a few Fantoms came over from the US and Canada just for this con.)

When Alex gets really really flustered/anxious/whatever he speaks a different language.

Okay, I need you to know, that I am like the biggest supporter of German!Alex!! (I have to romanticise being German in some way fight me)

Taking inspiration from Owen, Alex grew up with an American dad and a German mom. They'd speak a weird mix of German and English at home, but because they lived in America it would consist of mostly English just with some random German words here and there.

Because his mom didn't like it when Alex and the little sister I imagine him having swore, she would switch to German every time she got angry. But because Alex isn't stupid and actually knew quite a lot of German, he understood what she was saying and learned every German swear word she ever used.

It started with him swearing in German when he got upset, partly because that's what his mom did and partly because no one knew what he was saying.

That turned into him speaking German every time he didn't want to be understood. That was for example when he was anxious and was pacing and didn't want his friends to interrupt him by answering his rhetorical questions. Or when he was flustered by whatever Willie did or said and didn't want to be teased about his reaction.

Alex talking German meant shutting up for Luke and Reggie, knowing that they'd never figure out what Alex was saying anyways. Willie on the other hand made it their mission to learn as much of the German Alex was using as possible, so he could either offer to console Alex when he was anxious or answer Alex's flustered rambling by giving him a compliment in German, which made Alex very much implode.

Just German!Alex ahh, he is so very dear to my heart 🥺

what qualifications do i have? am german, queer, mentally ill, and i've been to the US once for two weeks

his mum definitely grew up in West Germany before the reunion, and met his dad while in germany

she's probably from southern Germany, so bavaria or baden-württemberg

also christian, probably a catholic but not too devout, she's just part of the church

alex spent most of his childhood in Germany, and thus learned german as his first language, spoke basically only German with his mum (Mama) and dad

was absolutely the fucking Christkind at every Krippenspiel, he's got blonde hair and blue-ish eyes (krippenspiel = nativity play and the christkind is baby jesus)

he has a younger sister, who went to ballet and he joined her, until his dad made him go to football (soccer) practice, which he dislikes

they move to the US when alex is 10 years old, so he knew basic english from school, but wasn't really good at it

his parents hired a private teacher but it still took time to get most of the german accent out of his english

new student with weird accent = boy gets bullied, and that shit is a main root of his anxiety

he develops anxiety about speaking in front of others and while grammar is less of an issue some 'th's and 'w's are really hard for him to pronounce, which he gets mocked for a lot

isn't allowed to speak german with anyone but his Mama because 'he needs to learn'

meets the boys because luke & bobby square the fuck up when some bully makes fun of him again, and he's eternally grateful

they immediately band together and make sure to make alex feel included because they get ~exotic~ german snacks at his house and also he's nice and interesting

he's extremely pissed of that Kinder Eggs aren't legal in the US and complains about that whenever he gets the chance

they all get their specific nicknames from him, in german, and he regularly insults them in german as well

bonus willex: alex calls willie all the sweetest nicknames in german, his favourites being Herzblatt (literally: heart-leaf, means piece of heart) and Perle (pearl)
