If there’s any singular reason why Gerda will be a 1000% better leader than Ahlberg it’s this.
That tiny almost imperceptible shoulder slump of disappointment.
Kids don’t trust the authorities? Gerda’s response - Clearly the authorities inclusive of herself need to do better.

Anne Bradstreet (1612?-1672), an Englishwoman who with her family arrived in Massachusetts in 1630 and combined a traditional life of Puritan domesticity with the inner life of a poet, the first American poet in fact, offers a good example of adaptation to gender constraints. She wrote:
To sing of Wars, of Captaines, and of Kings, Of Cities founded, Common-wealths begun, For my mean Pen, are too superior things, And, how they all, or each, their dates have run: Let Poets, and Historians, set these forth, My obscure Verse, shal not so dim their worth. . . .
I am obnoxious to each carping tongue Who says my hand a needle better fits A Poet’s Pen all scorn I should thus wrong; For such despight they cast on female wits: If what I doe prove well, it wont advance, They'l say it's stolne, or else, it was by chance. . . .
Let Greeks be Greeks, and Women what they are, Men have precendency, and still excel, It is but vaine unjustly to wage war; Men can doe best, and Women know it well; Preheminence in each and all is yours, Yet grant some small acknowledgement of ours.
Bradstreet's sweet-tempered moderation can be read as ironic or conformist, but the significant fact is that she persisted all her life in working and publishing as a poet. At what cost to herself and her art can only be surmised. As Adrienne Rich observed: "To have written poems, the first good poems in America, while rearing eight children, lying frequently sick, keeping house at the edge of wilderness, was to have managed a poet's range and extension within confines as severe as any American poet has confronted."
Anne Bradstreet ignored the "carping tongues" and assured herself and the world that she was writing mostly to her children and to praise God. Yet, in every generation, everywhere women were struggling for intellectual expression, some "carping tongue" reminded them of their female limitation, their female duty. Over and over again, we find women directed toward the loom, the shuttle, the distaff, the embroidery frame rather than the pen. Many of them heeded these calls: the artful textiles, the glorious quilts, the richly varied embroideries, the fancywork that decorated churches and homes, all testify to the flourishing creativity of women. And, as Alice Walker reminded us, the creation of gardens was, for many women, a form of art. But the contested ground for men was that of literary creation, of definition. It was here they asserted their so-called prerogatives, claimed superiority of training and intellect, defined exclusionary standards, and used every form of psychological pressure possible to discourage women from claiming any of that terrain. Against such pressure only the strongest in character and motivation could hold their ground.

death on a dusty moon
999 words of pigslop about a bad boss being mean to comet buckminster, a heart attack, and a ship crash for @flashfictionfridayofficial. i miss fttc and i wish i had the spark to write something more full-form for it tbh.
The sirens won’t stop sounding off. One more misstep and she’ll crash The Tiverton. One more shrill moment and she’ll puke.
Comet can think of a thousand things she could have done better— least of all paying attention. She tosses the book onto the seat and takes up the controls, trying to steer away from here. All the chiding in the world won’t fix this; she does it anyway. If only Comet Buckminster knew how to stop talking, stop getting absorbed in her work, and pay attention. If only she knew how to pull herself out of this mess before—
The cockpit door slams open; Comet’s shoulders tense; and the voice of Captain Gerda McKinley comes shattering out over the screaming alarm and her descending shadow. “The hell is this? I was sleeping, fuckwit.”
“I— I’m sorry, Captain. Something malfunctioned— We were traveling at faster-than-light, like you said to— And then we tried to jump out to Albyltian Five, like you said, but it chimmied up and now we’re here— I think we got clipped by a piece of debris, or something from that last skirmish didn’t get repaired correctly—”
“You mean you didn’t repair it correctly?” She steps into the cockpit, barely big enough for the two of them, towering over Comet. “When you repaired it back on Evis?”
“I did what I could,” she squeaks.
“Evis is a nothing planet. And you’re a nothing mechanic.”
“I’m a medic.” It comes out just as soft. It isn’t often that she feels her size— small, skitterish, nothing— but she has felt it more and more often over the past month and a half of work here. Dr. Hadzic never made her feel this way, and he was six-foot-five and half as wide. Blitzen never makes her feel this way, and he’s her big brother. Captain McKinley is full of the horrible truth— so why shouldn’t she crowd in and use that as a threat? Why shouldn’t she use what’s at her disposal? Why shouldn’t she use fear to halt an ever-moving tongue?
“I hired you as a one-stop shop. So do I need to repeat myself? Wasn’t fixing the hull your job? Do I need to dock your pay?”
“We can try something else,” Comet stammers, palms itching over the controls. She leans into the glass and peers out the window. Forward, she decides. Forward toward the planet in the distance; toward the ribbons of some sort of dust in the place beyond; toward stars blinking like streetlamps lining the street. “If I can get this ship back on course, then we can land on that moon, there— it’s abandoned, but it’ll work— and then I can fix any damage to the Tiverton and to the FTL drive that I might have missed—”
“You’re running out of opportunities to say things I want to hear.”
“We’re running out of opportunities for me to fix this.”
“I have an idea.” Captain McKinley muscles her way into the spot Comet’s trying to occupy, handling the controls with more grace than her shoulders would imply she possesses. A bit of sweat transfers when her shoulder hits Comet; and when Comet’s shoulder hits the wall.
Captain McKinley doesn’t announce her moves. It’s unnecessary. She was always going to stop on that abandoned moon; she was always going to slam the nose of the ship into the soft, gray dust covering its ground; and she was always going to, in the aftershocks landing, whip around to glare at Comet with nostrils flaring.
“You are going to fix this,” she seethes. “I’m going back to sleep. I’m tired as hell, all your ship-jostling made my chest hurt, and looking at you makes me want to puke.”
Narrowing her eyes just slightly, Comet considers that while scampering to gather her tools and breathing apparatus. “Is your chest tight?”
“Stop asking me stupid questions.”
“It’s an important question. Captain McKinley, if your chest is uncomfortable and you feel—”
The captain stalks off without indulging her, covertly rubbing at parts of her middle-back. “Just fix the drive. I want off this moon by the time I’m awake.”
Fine, Comet decides. Ignore the signs of what’s happening. Ignore what you did wrong. Shitass fucking captain. She should just hijack the ship and leave.
She’s not going to do that.
With tubes pumping oxygen to a mask over her nose and mouth, body covered by protective layers of cooling garments, insulation, and synthetic polymers, and her face covered by a gold-coated plexiglass visor, she looks out at the universe beyond her. It’s so beautiful and still from here. Why would she rob herself of its enchantment by working for a woman like Gerda for a moment longer? The stark stillness of this abandoned moon? The stars she has learned to love and navigate beyond it? The very principles of science that govern it?
Fuck this. She’ll go work for Blitzen before she works for this woman again. Being self-sufficient isn’t worth this.
Fixing the FTL drive is easy enough. She tinkered with so many of those for extra cash as a side hustle during her medical training that it’s like second nature to her. Fixing the hull is easier, even if her fingers are less dextrous with the spacewalk suit’s gloves over them.
The easier part is walking into The Tiverton and finding it quiet. Finding it halcyon.
There’s a reason for that, she finds, as she heads to the captain’s quarters (so much more resplendent than her own). The captain is still; breathless; and, when Comet raises her wrist to check, without a pulse.
She chuckles once, harsh and short. Maybe Captain McKinley shouldn’t have ignored that heart attack.
Fine, Comet decides, trying not to grin. There is an experiment she has wanted to try. Reconstituting a body? Bringing the dead back to life? How shall she do it, she wonders?
Must she know right now? She has all the time in the galaxy and nobody to report to.

The Coming Storm
ao3
ffn
chapter index
The fjord shrank in the distance, and Arendelle became a speck on the horizon. Inga felt invigorated, holding Henry's hand. As they walked around the ship, she smiled, hearing her brother calling out commands to the crew.
As she began to relax and enjoy the voyage, dark clouds rose on the horizon in the west, and the waves grew larger. She looked around for Henry, but couldn’t find him, and the captain was suddenly unfamiliar, and none of the voices she heard around her were voices she recognized. Searching the ship up and down, she finally found a room at the bottom of the ship. The door locked behind her as she went in.
“Let me out!” she yelled, her voice catching in her throat.
“Admit your crimes, and you’ll get out!” a strange voice shouted.
The ship’s motion grew more and more violent, and she felt overcome with a feeling of seasickness.
Inga woke up suddenly, feeling like the room was still moving, though she could see in the evening light that she was in her own bedroom in Arendelle. The room felt like it was swaying even though the dream was over, and she ran as quickly as she could to her bathroom, barely making it in time.
As she sat feeling miserable and sorry for herself, she heard a knock at her door. “Your Highness?” she heard Gerda call out.
Inga took a moment to clean herself up a bit, and walked over, opening the door just a crack. “Yes, Gerda?” she asked.
“Dinner is in a few minutes, and your mother sent me to see if you need help getting ready.”
“Oh… and where is Oline?” she asked.
“Oline is taking care of some things in the laundry. That’s why your mother sent me.”
“Of course. Who will be at dinner?” Inga asked.
“Just family,” Gerda told her.
“Tell them I’m not feeling well,” Inga replied. “I think I'll be going to bed.”
“Very well,” Gerda replied, “good night, then.”
***
Anna looked around the dinner table. The youngest children, as usual, had eaten in the nursery and were now in bed, but Sofia had started joining the rest of them at dinner now. Anton and Peder both focused on eating, but Frederick was eyeing the empty spot where Inga would normally be sitting. Gerda had checked on her, and she was still unwell.
“How have you been doing, Frederick?” Anna asked.
“Well enough,” he shrugged. “Let me know if you need my help with anything. I don’t have much to do until I leave for Corona, now.”
“When is that?” Anna asked, trying to hide her worry, since she knew it annoyed Frederick, and Kristoff had been reminding her that he needed to be allowed to try this, at least.
“Their classes start in January, so I suppose I'll leave after Christmas.”
Anna swallowed and forced a smile. “I’m glad you did so well on the exam, Frederick. I’m sure your father and I can find things for you to help with until then, especially since I would like to lighten Inga’s work. She seems exhausted.”
“I think she’s spending too much time writing letters,” Frederick muttered under his breath.
“What do you mean?” Anna asked.
“Oh, you know. It’s been almost two months since Henry was here, and I’m not sure there’s been a day when they haven’t written to each other.”
“Well, yes, of course,” Anna nodded.
“She certainly wasn’t exhausted when he was here,” Sofia commented. “How much dancing did they do?”
“Sofia,” Kristoff interrupted, “Do you like your tutors?”
Sofia nodded, taking a bite of food. “It’s more interesting with them than the governess. She’s nice enough, of course, but I’m not sure if she knows very much beyond reading and arithmetic. I think I’d like to play piano, though.”
Anna smiled at this. “Is the old piano teacher still in town, Frederick?”
“I’m pretty sure he left for the conservatory in Bergen,” Frederick said.
“I’ll ask around,” Kristoff suggested. “The trade guild people are always talking about their accomplished children, so I’m sure they know some piano teachers.”
“Why doesn’t Frederick teach me?” Sofia asked.
“I’ll be gone next year,” Frederick protested.
“That’s next year,” Sofia said. “Papa can find someone else next year.”
“Frederick, you just said you had nothing to do,” Kristoff reminded him.
As dinner finished, the children ran off to the library for games, and Anna and Kristoff took their time.
“Do you think we should check on Inga?” Kristoff asked.
“I’m sure she’s fine, but I’ll stop by,” Anna said as they left the dining room for the servants to clean up.
Kristoff went on to catch up with the children in the library, and Anna walked up to Inga’s room.
She knocked lightly. “Inga?” she called through the door.
There was some commotion on the other side, and she heard a groan and some footsteps approaching the door. “What is it?” Inga asked, opening the door.
“We missed you at dinner.”
“Sorry,” Inga apologized, staring blankly.
“Well, you are exhausted, aren’t you?” Anna said sympathetically, instinctively putting the back of her hand to her daughter’s forehead. “You don’t have a fever at least, but please just get back to bed. I’m sorry I woke you. You can sleep in tomorrow.”
“Thanks, Mama,” Inga said as she went back into her room, closing the door behind her. Anna took a deep breath, realizing she couldn’t remember the last time Inga had called her ‘Mama’ instead of ‘Mother.’
***
Inga fell back asleep after her mother left. She had yet more strange dreams. She was having so many strange dreams. It felt like she was going back and forth between being so exhausted she instantly fell asleep, and being stuck in an in-between state of neither being rested nor feeling any energy.
She couldn’t remember if she had written to Henry, and since she was awake now, she grabbed some paper and a pen and began writing.
October 6th, 1865
Dear Henry,
I seem to be working myself too hard. That’s what my mother has told me several times. Now I seem to be sick, and I just hope that I’m better soon. There is so much left to do before the Harvest Festival, and I want to push myself just a little harder and get through this, but I know that I should rest so that I’m actually well enough next month for the celebrations.
I hope you’ll be taking a steamship back here when you visit, because I have to admit it was frustrating knowing just how long it took you to get back to Corona, especially knowing that every minute until you returned is another minute they won’t give us approval to get married.
I don’t mean to sound so negative, though. Frederick has passed his examination. I forget if I mentioned that before, so he will be traveling to Corona after Christmas. Perhaps I can visit Corona then, as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again.
Love,
Inga
Inga went to the window and opened it, whispering her usual greeting to the wind spirit before releasing the letter. There was a bit of a chill in the air, but it felt rather nice. She hadn’t realized how warm her room was, so she left the window open as she went back to bed.
***
Henry sat at his window, the glow of the city spread out below. He had sent three letters since the last letter from Inga, and as much as he knew she had quite a lot going on, part of him worried. As if to answer his question, the wind rattled on his window, and a letter landed on his desk mere seconds after he opened the window.
Smiling as he saw the writing on the outside, he quickly sat down and opened it up to read, but frowned as he saw that Inga hadn’t been feeling well. Helpless to do anything for her right now, he wanted to hold her. He thought of the wildflowers in the meadow. He wasn’t sure what they were, but they were nothing like anything he had seen in Corona. He grabbed his sketchbook and drew what he could remember of that meadow, with the trees along the edges, and the shade where they sat. Inga sitting by the tree, so proper, and yet, he knew… he had committed every detail of her to his memory. He could draw her any way he wanted, but he would draw her in the riding dress for this.
He took the drawing of the meadow out of his sketchbook, signed his name in the corner, and carefully folded it up. On another sheet of paper, he jotted down a quick note.
October 6th, 1865
Dear Inga,
I’m so sorry that you’re not feeling well. I was beginning to worry when I hadn’t heard from you. Please take care! I’ll see you soon.
Love,
Henry
He frowned. When could he leave for the festival? All of the formal letters for an official engagement had been signed. He wanted to rush to Inga’s side now, to help her feel better. Could he simply tell his parents that he was going and leave on the next ship out? Perhaps he would.
***
Henry had barely slept that night, trying to decide if he should just declare that he was taking the next ship to Arendelle, or if he was going to ask when he could travel. It shouldn’t have been such a decision. He had already mentioned wanting to leave at the end of the month, so this was not a difficult question.
It was finally morning, and his parents and sister were sitting together having breakfast.
“Henry, are you joining us?” Hilde asked.
“Yes, of course,” he replied, sitting down and helping himself.
“I was thinking…” he began.
“Indeed?” Hilde smirked.
“Hilde,” their mother said as a warning.
“Sorry, go on,” his sister replied.
“Well, when is the next ship going to Arendelle?” he asked.
“Of course,” Hilde chuckled, immediately stuffing a roll into her mouth to avoid saying whatever was on her mind.
“I haven’t checked,” his mother said, looking at his father.
“Aren’t they going twice a week now?” his father asked. “Mondays and Thursdays, maybe?”
“Today is Saturday,” Henry said. “Could I go Monday?”
“The day after tomorrow?” his father asked. “I suppose James can deal with that.”
“Does Inga know you’re coming sooner?” his mother asked.
“Um, no, I wanted to surprise her,” he said. “But she knows I’m hoping to come to the festival.”
“I hope she likes surprises,” his mother replied.
***
It was late Saturday night, and Inga had fallen asleep early. She was awoken by a rattling at the window. She took a moment to realize what she was hearing, and finally walked over to see some leaves swirling around outside. It was Gale. Inga was still in enough of a muddle that she momentarily forgot how to unlatch the window, and a blast of freezing night air greeted her when she finally opened it, but she wasn’t surprised that a letter fell into her hands.
October 7th, 1865
Dear Inga,
I will be leaving for the fall festival this week, and I’ll be bringing along a letter signed by my grandfather giving us permission. I hope that will be enough for the council. I’m looking forward to seeing this festival, because you told me so much about last year’s, and I don’t want to miss it.
I miss you more, of course. I’ll be dreaming of you.
Good night,
Love,
Henry
Inga read the letter several times over.
Her mother had told her that she needed to stop working so hard with planning the festival and rest for a few days. The previous year’s festival had been the first one that Inga herself had put work into, although, of course, she had assisted her mother most years going back to when she had been perhaps eight or nine years old. It was an enjoyable occasion to plan for, because unlike parties, there were lots of excuses to blend into the background helping with one thing or another, and she didn’t have to worry about being the center of attention.
Not like with a wedding. Even then, that would be a few hours to endure, and then they would be married.
Inga drifted off into a pleasant sleep, dreaming of Henry, as he probably was dreaming of her. She woke once to a brief rain storm, then drifted off to sleep again, though her dreams weren’t quite as pleasant this time.
***
Inga looked up at the church in front of her. It was the familiar chapel of Arendelle castle, where the Royal Family made their customary appearance every Sunday when they were in town. Their mother, after all, was officially considered the head of the church. Inga had never quite understood why her mother was considered the head of the church, when the bishop made all of the decisions, and in many ways had power over their own family. As their mother often pointed out when Inga asked too many questions, the bishop was a good man, and he was on their side when others weren’t. Inga kept this in mind, and did her best to keep her doubts to herself.
This time, the church was packed, almost more crowded than it was on major holy days. They were all looking at her. She looked ahead and saw Henry standing up at the front of the church, along with the Bishop, and realized this was her wedding. She looked around, and realized she was on her own, though. Wasn’t her father supposed to walk her down the aisle? And where was her mother?
When she looked around again, it was obvious that this wasn’t the chapel in Arendelle at all, but the chapel in Corona that she had sat in the year before when Henry and his sister had been invested at their Coronation upon their eighteenth birthday.
The King of Corona, Henry’s grandfather, stepped up next to her.
“Where is everyone?” Inga whispered.
“Everyone is here,” he replied.
“But where is my family?”
“What do you mean? You eloped here with Henry. You’re lucky Arendelle hasn’t declared war on us.”
“Wait, what?”
The church bell was ringing outside as Inga woke with a start. Of course, it was Sunday morning. What did the dream even mean? Why would they elope? Of course, she and Henry had joked about it, but there was no reason to elope. They had his grandfather’s permission, and it was merely a matter of getting everything else planned for the wedding. Real planning could happen soon enough, though she was beginning to see the wisdom of waiting a little longer.
***
Anna looked over the letters. Two were from nobles from the provinces, who had questions relating to the Royal Council issues. They would probably need to convene the council again soon, since there were so many issues to discuss. Once official permission for the engagement came from Corona, the royal council of Arendelle could officially recognize the engagement, and they could set a date and begin planning. That would make Inga happy, even if she accepted waiting until the following summer. Anna was also fairly certain that Inga would rather that the succession issue be dropped officially. Perhaps the council would finally agree to that. As Inga herself had mentioned, surely they wouldn’t want the line of succession blending in with Corona’s. That always created complications, anyway.
Another letter was from Admiral Sorensen about the cadets Arendelle would be sending to the Naval Academy of Corona. Frederick would get his interest in the navy out of his system soon enough, she hoped. Kristoff seemed to think that Sorensen had hand-picked Frederick as a possible successor as admiral, which would assume that he wasn’t first in line of succession for the crown, so hopefully Sorensen had a back-up plan. Frederick was still young. Her other children were even younger, and she couldn’t possibly start planning out their futures.
She hoped Inga felt better soon enough.
Inga had been looking tired for several days now. She had been visiting Isabel, who was still recovering from what was, by all accounts, a very difficult birth. Anna had visited their home once, and she had also made sure that the castle guards were ensuring that Captain Olsen could spend as much time as he needed to with his wife and new child.
Halima had, of course, been quite busy, and Anna had learned that she was looking to hire more people to help with Hudson’s Hearth so that she didn’t need to be doing quite as much work there. Their youngest ward, Meibel, helped quite a lot, but Kate and Edith had never been particularly interested, and Halima would never pressure them into helping.
There was a knock at the study door.
“Come in,” Anna called out. “Kristoff?”
“You sound surprised to see me here.”
Anna laughed. “No, no, just, it’s Sunday, and you went to the trouble of cleaning up and showing up to church, I figured that you would take the rest of the day for other things.”
“How has Inga been? I thought I’d see her today.”
“No, I haven’t seen her today, either. She wasn’t at church, but she did go to bed early last night because she hasn’t been feeling well. Though as busy as she’s been with the festival planning and helping Isabel, I’m not that surprised. She needs to rest sometime.”
“How is Isabel doing? I haven’t seen Captain Olsen around very much.”
“Better,” Anna said. “And Inga tells me that the baby is quite pretty.”
Kristoff nodded.
“She still does seem to be intent on getting married, even with everything she’s doing around here, though at least she seems happy to wait until next summer now.”
“Does she really have to move if she gets married?” Kristoff asked.
“I don’t know for sure, but it wouldn’t be something they could just decide on a whim. These things will need to be negotiated. The council made that much clear, I thought.”
“I hope she understands,” Kristoff said.
Anna nodded, looking at the papers spread across the desk again.
“So,” Anna said, changing the subject, “Frederick passed the examination for the Naval Academy in Corona.”
“I know,” Kristoff chuckled. “I was meeting with some of the Trade Guilds when he and his friends came into Hudson’s Hearth to celebrate.”
“It sounds like it was quite an event, then. The rest of us were having a quiet dinner.”
Kristoff smiled. “I think Frederick and I were both trying to pretend we weren’t at the same place, but I was happy for him.”
Anna smiled. Kristoff went to put some more wood in the fireplace, and sat down across from her at the desk.
“So, have you started making plans for this wedding that isn’t officially happening yet?”
Anna shook her head. “The Bishop did come to speak with me after the meeting in August, and he said that whenever it’s approved, we can name the date to have the chapel.”
“I hope both of them know what they’re getting into.”
“I think that’s part of why Inga has started accepting the idea of waiting until next summer. I know it’s not that much time, but it’s enough for her to really consider things.”
Kristoff nodded. “I’m pretty sure Henry doesn’t have the first clue about scheming, at least.”
Anna shifted in her seat.
“Sorry,” Kristoff added, glancing over.
“No, that’s a valid point,” Anna assured him.
It had begun raining at some point since Kristoff had come in, and the gentle sound of rain on the window plus the new log on the fire beginning to crackle were the only sounds in the room now.
“What if we had gotten married that summer, when I was eighteen?”
Kristoff looked over. “Things would have been different, that’s for sure.”
“I know.”
“I would have been fine with everything. I hope I’ve always been clear enough about that.”
“I’ve never questioned that,” Anna said, smiling.
“I was- Last year, I mean to say, I was talking with him… after he knew the truth. I told him as much. That boy was afraid that I was going to blame him for everything that happened.”
“He was worried about the same thing when I spoke with him. I wish that we had been able to speak more. Once everything was in motion, though, it would have been odd to change our minds.”
“I know. The position was… it’s not what I would have chosen.”
They sat across from each other at the desk for a little while.
“Kristoff, I wouldn’t have asked you to do that, you know, marrying me back then. Well, I didn’t ask you. I could have, and it would have been convenient in some ways, I suppose.” Anna looked at a bookshelf, as if she were looking for some specific volume, but her eyes weren’t really focused.
“I hate to ask this, but was anyone else you met on your tour a candidate? It’s been nearly twenty-two years now, you can be honest.”
“Nobody,” Anna quickly replied. “I know enough to know that more than a few were interested in me at the time. But none of them were you. Who knows, though, if you had run off before I returned to Arendelle, perhaps I would have written to the Crown Prince of Maldonia…”
“Isn’t that the father of the prince that Inga hated so much?”
“Oh, that one, yes. His father wasn’t too terrible, as far as I can remember. Very matter of fact, though, but I think that’s what I would have wanted at that point.”
“So, if I had disappeared, you could be enjoying warm weather and abundant citrus fruit right now.”
“I’ll take a little cold weather, thank you very much.”
***
As Sunday morning turned into afternoon, Inga had another dream, the memory of which evaporated as soon as she heard her maid Oline putting some things away in her dresser.
“What time is it, Oline?” Inga asked.
“It’s afternoon, Your Highness, but please don’t mind me. I had no intention of waking you.”
“I really need to get up,” Inga sighed.
“You’re not well. Please just rest.”
“Do you think I should have the doctor come this week?” Inga asked.
“I think that might be a good idea, but also… Please don’t take this the wrong way, but there has been some talk…”
“Talk?” Inga asked.
“I’ve told them you worked yourself too hard, but you know how those girls in the laundry are. Even with the dressing down about gossiping they got after your party… I can only imagine how bad it would be without the fear of getting sent away…” Oline trailed off.
“What are they talking about, exactly?”
“The fact that they usually shut up when I arrive, I can’t tell you very much, but they say some awful things.”
“Well, I suppose they’ll do that,” Inga sighed, resigned after the rumors she had heard about her birthday party.
“You don’t care what they’re saying about you?”
“I… I care, but, well… It's me. I shouldn’t be surprised if they’re talking about me.”
“It really doesn’t bother you?”
“Why should it? I suppose if Henry believed whatever it was, it would be a problem.”
“Do you think he’s heard the rumors?”
“He already knows there are rumors. He says he hears worse in Corona, anyway.”
“That sounds horrible,” Oline said. “But, yes, you should rest. If you’re still not feeling well, I’ll pass on a note to the doctor. I’m sure he will figure out what’s wrong with you. Lots of things can cause this sort of thing, you know.”
“This sort of thing?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Oline insisted. “There are girls who need to worry, but you’re a good sort.”
Inga stopped herself from asking Oline’s meaning. She had an idea, and she wouldn’t contradict her.
“Thank you, Oline. I think I’ll go ahead and rest some more.”
***
Later in the day, Anna walked into the library to find General Mattias and Admiral Sorensen sitting by the fire.
“Good morning, General, Admiral,” she greeted them, smiling.
“Good morning, your Majesty. We were just discussing your son's upcoming enrollment at the Academy in Corona.”
Anna forced herself to smile. “Yes, I’ve heard he got very high marks on the entrance exam.”
Sorensen smiled. “He also performed extremely well last spring on the training mission. The boy has a knack for this.”
“Yes, I suppose it will keep him occupied,” Anna said.
“Admiral?” General Mattias said. “Perhaps we should save this discussion for later.”
“No, no, it’s fine, really,” Anna insisted. “I still think of him as a young boy… and he is next in line, but since I seem to be in good health, we should probably give him something useful to do.”
“Do you really think the council will reject the succession bill?” Admiral Sorensen asked.
“They haven’t acted on it in over a year,” Anna said. “If they haven’t decided at this point, I can’t imagine they will now.”
“I suppose there is that,” the Admiral agreed. “If this engagement goes through, most of the council members object to the line of succession being shared with that of Corona.”
For the record, Inga has expressed her desire not to change the succession.”
“At this point, unfortunately, I think her opinion on the matter is not something many members of the council care about,” General Mattias sighed.
“I have noticed that,” Anna said.
“If you allow me to give my candid opinion, Your Majesty?”
“I hope that you always do so, Admiral,” Anna replied.
“Of course,” the Admiral assured her. “Within the bounds of politically expedient politeness, of course.”
“Go on, then,” Anna prodded.
“I’ve heard a few saying they would like to wait to decide until, perhaps, a year or two after any marriage. Corona retains the preference for the male line, so if they have a boy-”
“This is my daughter we’re talking about here, Admiral. You should just be glad that Kristoff isn’t joining us for this meeting.”
“In my opinion, I think they should decide now, regardless of any marriage,” the Admiral insisted. “I will admit some bias for Frederick remaining free to pursue a naval career, if that is what he wishes. You asked me to be candid, Your Majesty.”
“I did ask for that, yes,” Anna said. “And I wish they simply would decide on the matter so we can get on with things. I regret ever bringing up the idea.”
“Shall we discuss the new ship coming from the American ship builder, then?” the Admiral asked. “Ambassador Nilsen has told me some very encouraging things about the negotiation.”
Anna agreed. “Yes, it sounds like it will be a good deal for everyone.”
Sorensen chuckled. “After the last ambassador abandoned his post, I have to admit I wasn’t very optimistic about the replacement, but the young man seems to be taking the role seriously.”
Mattias nodded. “Anna, I have to say, you showed some real judgment of character with that one.”
Anna did her best to smile. She was quite certain that neither Mattias nor Sorensen knew of Lars’s true identity, and she hoped to keep it that way, as much as Mattias in particular was a dear family friend. She knew that Mattias meant well, only the best, with his comment, but it hurt to think about.
“He does seem to be doing well,” Anna agreed. “And I believe the ship builders are making good progress?”
Sorensen smiled. “The ship is to arrive in Arendelle next summer, and the ship builder is quite eager to become a regular supplier to Arendelle. I’ve seen their plans, and they’re quite good.”
“Now that we’ve settled that,” Anna said, “I think I would like to go into town and see how the festival preparations are going.”
“Will Inga be coming along?” Mattias asked.
“She hasn’t been feeling well the last few days, unfortunately, but I’ll ask Frederick if he would like to come along.”
“I’m sorry to hear about Inga, but Frederick is always welcome company,” Mattias said.
***
“Inga?” Frederick called through the crack in her door.
“Come in!” Inga called out.
“It’s after lunchtime, and you’re still in bed?” Frederick asked.
“I’m feeling a little better, I promise,” Inga insisted.
“You’re not going to be like Mother now, are you?”
“What do you mean by that?” Inga asked.
“Getting sick like that, you know.”
“Mother is quite healthy these days, Frederick. She hasn’t been sick in a long time.”
“Oh, I know it’s not all the time, but often enough. Remember last fall? And a few weeks later you were sick, too.”
Inga realized he was talking about the time right after Lars’s wedding. She had asked her mother why she hadn’t gone, assuming she was friends with Mrs. Nilsen like Aunt Elsa was. She had been mystified at the time, but a short time later, she realized exactly why her mother had reacted so strangely.
“I don’t know about Mother, but I had a headache,” Inga insisted.
“Fine, but there was the year before when Mother was sick around my birthday.”
“No, that year she was sick in January, not December. Don’t you remember Father coming back early from visiting the ice fields? You must be thinking of your twelfth birthday.”
“You’re right, that was the birthday when she was sick. It was before the spring when Karl was born.”
“So? Lots of people get sick in the winter.”
“But I remember some of the times it was in the fall. Father was always worried, don’t you remember?”
“Father had reason to worry then, you know, Frederick, it’s not-” Inga pushed a thought from her head. “Anyway, that’s different.”
“Fine, then,” Frederick said. “Just, take care of yourself?”
“So, is that all? Giving me a hard time about being sick? I promise I’ll send for the doctor this week if I’m still not feeling well.”
“No, sorry about giving you a hard time. I just wanted to let you know that everyone missed you in town today.”
“Everyone?” Inga asked.
“Well, the General, and the Admiral, and Renata, and…”
“Is Renata in town this week? I am sorry I didn’t get to see her.”
“She was talking with Halima about opening up a spa resort just outside of town. She just finished helping with one up along the way to Bergen, you know.”
“Oaken has several of those, I know,” Inga replied.
“Halima will be setting up the restaurant.”
“Has she hired a new cook yet?” Inga asked.
“She’s been trying out a few, Meibel tells me,” Frederick replied.
“You’re going to miss that, aren’t you?”
“Hudson’s, yeah,” Frederick said.
“Meibel is going to miss you, that’s for sure,” Inga laughed.
“You think so?”
***
“I have everything ready,” James announced. “The official letter with permission from your grandfather is in the trunk on top. I will be sure it is in a clear place when I unpack in Arendelle.”
“Thank you, James,” Henry said. “I know it’s sudden. Now, my parents insist on coming with me to the harbor, so if you can go with the bags in the wagon, I think I’ll be walking.”
“Very good, Your Highness,” James nodded.
Henry walked down to the gate where his parents were waiting. Hilde was there, too. They began walking silently, Henry trying not to fidget or rush ahead.
“Please tell us if you make any plans while you’re gone,” his mother said when they were about halfway down the hill.
“I’m pretty sure the plan is for next summer now,” Henry said. “But I’ll let you know as soon as we set a date.”
“Good,” his father said. “No more surprises, please?”

Frozen 3 Story idea. Frozen 3: 20 years later” is set 20 years after the 1st movie. Not long after Frozen 2, Elsa(Idina Menzel) got bored of her role as the 5th Spirit and betrayed(the spirits see it as a betrayal) the other Spirits in an attempt to spend more time with her sister. So the spirits cursed her(the spirits see it as a bit of a blessing), which caused her to get stranded on the island of Ahtohallan, and to start to forget about her life prior to having accepted the role of 5th spirit. It also caused her to be unable to physically age, her skin to turn blue and her hair to turn black.
Elsa’s sister Anna(Kristen Bell) has two 16-year-old daughters, Gerda(Deneen Melody) and Karen(Emma Myers). Only Gerda, not Karen, has seen her Aunt, and that’s because Gerda has ice powers which allow her to endure the coldness of Ahtohallan, but she doesn't have the power to create life like Elsa does. She’s seen Elsa once and she barely survived that time because Ahtohallan was so cold even for her, which caused her family much trauma. She’s the main character of Frozen 3, and she spends most of the movie looking for Maui's fishhook in order to get the spirits to free her Aunt from both the curse and her role as the 5th spirit. Gerda learned some things about the fishhook from Bulda(Maia Wilson), including that in order to grant ETERNITY to Elsa she must feed the 4 fish using the fishhook. The pieces of the fishhook spell ETERNITY. The fishhook magically enables immaterial spirits to gain the power of human speech. Once the 4 spirits possess this power, they will no longer have any need for a 5th spirit and Elsa will be free. But Gerda needs to find the fishhook quickly otherwise Elsa will soon turn into an ice statue before shattering into shards and becoming part of Ahtohallan like the other 5th Spirits.
Gerda disobeys her mother by sneaking away to search for the fishhook. The magic of the fishhook can only be used once every 100 years. Anna initially tries to stop Gerda from leaving, but she relents when Gerda reminds her of when she herself left to save Elsa. While sailing, her ship is attacked by undead sailors lead by Euron. Euron slaughters her crew and consumes their blood, but Gerda uses her powers to escape and flee to Weselton. Euron realizes that Gerda is looking for the fishhook when he finds Gerda’s notebook. In Weselton, Gerda foils a pirate(Santino Fontana playing Captain Prince Hans) from stealing from a brewery using her ice powers, but instead of thanking her, the people of Weselton accuse her of being a witch and lock her up with Hans. The two of them are about to be publicly executed when Hans' nephew Kai rescues them with the help of the other members of Hans' pirate crew. At first Hans contemplates using Gerda as a hostage, but she persuades Hans to help her find the fishhook after she promises she will provide Kai with a comfortable life in Arendelle if he helps her. Gerda comes aboard his pirate ship “The Throwaway” in order to find the island where the fishhook is hidden. The Throwaway was once a slave ship called The Dark One.
Shortly after Frozen, Hans worked as a privateer on a ship run by slaves. He led a mutiny on the slave ship and became a pirate, before fleeing to Neverland(a place where nobody ages) for a time, and that’s why he hasn’t aged much in Frozen 3. Hans has a “bastard” nephew with him called Kai(Jordan Fisher). Kai is the son of Prince Lars(Peter Capaldi), and he was a slave on a slave ship until Hans led the mutiny. Hans was ordered to whip Kai to death. Hans whipped Kai 12 times before he threw down his whip and instigated the mutiny. Kai and Gerda fall in love with each other over the course of the movie. Kai starts shipping Hans and Elsa the moment he sees them. Hans finds this a bit creepy. Gerda first asks Hans to sail to her ship to find her journal, which Hans is very reluctant to do so because that ship had just been attacked, but he relents when Gerda promises him that no one will get hurt.
The villain of Frozen 3 is Euron(Ian McDiarmid) Hans’ father and former King of the Southern Isles and the person Hans fears the most because he’s responsible for Lars’ death. Euron captains his own ship and has a bag that's bigger on the inside. It's filled with things like magic carpets, magic beans, and poisoned apples. Shortly after Frozen, when Hans stole a slave ship, Euron sailed after him. Hans tricked Euron into crashing his ship into rocks situated right off the coast of the cursed Island of Shattered Shards. Euron and his crew get cursed by the island into becoming undead beings who need fresh human blood to survive. Euron lost everything including his authority over the Southern Isles because of what Hans did and he gets filled with an intense rage. Euron ends up going after the fishhook in order to use its power to curse the Southern Isles army into becoming undead warriors, but he deceives his crew into thinking he wants it in order to undo their curses. His crew turn against him when they find out the truth, and they sacrifice themselves to destroy Euron once and for all, but not before Euron stabs Hans with a poisoned blade. Kai wants Hans to use the magic of the fishhook to save himself, but Hans chooses not to because he thinks the magic needs to be used to save Elsa because Elsa's suffering is greater, but he survives because the trolls heal him.
After Hans is healed, Gerda runs across the sea to get to Ahtohallan with the fishhook in an attempt to find Elsa before it's too late, unaware that she is being followed by Euron, who survived when his crewmembers attacked him. When she enters Ahtohallan, he follows her into the glacier. When she finds Elsa, she finds out that Elsa’s almost completely frozen. She manages to call the spirits towards her, but they don’t uncurse Elsa because they’re unable to absorb the fishhook’s magic. Gerda is about to leave Ahtohallan when she figures out what Bulda meant. Gerda must break the fishhook so the spirits can fully absorb its magic. Euron attempts to stop Gerda from doing this, saying that she’s stupid to give the fishhook’s magic to the spirits instead of taking it for herself, and that with all that power she can secure everything else. Gerda is almost persuaded by Euron, but she still breaks the fishhook. Furiously, Euron attacks Gerda and he even overpowers her. He’s about to break her neck when Elsa thaws and destroys Euron once and for all with the help of the 4 spirits. Suddenly, Ahtohallan begins to shake and slowly sink into the sea because the 4 spirits no longer need a 5th spirit now that they have what they desire, which means no human being need ever enter Ahtohallan again. Elsa and Gerda struggle to escape. Hans seeks Ahtohallan sinking and sails towards it. Later, Anna looks out the window of her castle and sees a ship with a pirate flag. Hans raised that flag to attract Anna’s attention. Hans gets tied up by her guards just as he’s about to speak. “Your sister is... alive because of you,” he says. Hans gets forgiven for his past crimes after helping bring Elsa home and he settles down in Arendelle with Kai, taking a job as a servant in Arendelle castle. Elsa retires from the role of 5th Spirit and keeps her powers. Sitron, who is Hans’ mare, is also in the movie, and she helps save Hans in Weselton.
Kristoff(Jonathan Groff) plays the role of an antagonist for most of the movie. By the time of Frozen 3, he’s lost all hope of Elsa ever coming back and is determined to stop Gerda from wasting her time looking for the fishhook. He doesn’t approve of Anna allowing Gerda to leave Arendelle. Also, scenes like the charade scene are referenced in the movie. Hans hears from Gerda that Elsa said he's an "unredeemable monster" and he's somewhat sad because he'd prefer the term "scoundrel". The snowball scene in Frozen Fever is also referenced. Hans thought the snowball was the result of his brothers trying to gaslight him into thinking Elsa was trying to kill him.
Okkk, no offence, you lost me at "daughters", cause the only daughters I want to hear about, are Elsa and Anna. ;) But you have lot of imagination, kudos to you!

Frozen 3 Story idea. “Frozen 3: 22 years later” is set 22 years after the 1st movie. Not long after Frozen 2, Elsa suffered what happens to all 5th spirits by getting bound to Ahtohallan with a curse. The spirits cursed her (the spirits see it as a bit of a blessing), which caused her to get stranded on the island of Ahtohallan, and to start to forget about her life prior to having accepted the role of 5th spirit. It also caused her to be unable to physically age, her skin to turn blue and her hair to turn black. Meanwhile, Elsa’s sister, Anna assumes that she has received a “gift” from Ahtohallan for her great deed of destroying the dam. Like Iduna, who had received a similar gift for her brave deed and passed it on to Elsa at birth, the same thing has now unexpectedly happened to Anna, which means that one of her children has special powers, but this child has it easy compared to Elsa.
Anna has two daughters, Gerda and Karen (who is 2 years younger than Gerda). Gerda is fascinated by the story of when Anna saved Elsa during the eternal winter (aka the events of Frozen 1) and wants to write a very unbiased account of what happened. She likes collecting items like newspaper clippings that relate to the events of Frozen 1. She wants to hear Hans side of the story, but she can’t because Hans disappeared and was branded a pirate by the Southern Isles due to stealing a ship. Karen, on the other hand, is fascinated by the story of how Elsa saved Arendelle from being flooded (aka the events of Frozen 2). Only Gerda, not Karen, has seen her Aunt, and that’s because Gerda has ice powers which allow her to endure the coldness of Ahtohallan, but she doesn't have the power to create life like Elsa does. Gerda thinks her powers were a gift that the spirits gave her due to what Anna did, but she’s not sure why the spirits gave her powers that “just happened” to be almost identical to Elsa’s powers. Do the spirits want her to take Elsa’s place? She’s seen Elsa once, when she, at 16 years old, entered Antohallan and she barely survived that time because Ahtohallan was so cold even for her, which caused her family much trauma. Two years later, Gerda, now 18, is looking for a lost dagger in order to get the spirits to free her Aunt from both the curse and her role as the 5th spirit. Gerda learned some things about the dagger from Bulda, including that in order to grant ETERNITY to Elsa she must divide the dagger among the spirits and that the pieces of the dagger spell ETERNITY. After studying ancient myths, Gerda learns that a wicked troll stole certain magical powers and abilities from the 4 spirits, trapping the magic in his dagger, which is why the spirits need human help to perform their duties in Ahtohallan, hence why the 5th spirit exists. If the magic is returned to the spirits, they will no longer have any need for a 5th spirit and Elsa will be free. But Gerda needs to find the dagger quickly otherwise the magic binding Elsa to Ahtohallan will become irreversible.
Gerda wants to go looking for the dagger with Anna, but accidents keep happening that delay them. One day, during the Arendelle harvest festival, Captain Hans wakes up not far from the ports of Arendelle. It turns out that his nephew Kai sailed the ship there when Hans was sleeping because Kai wanted to visit Arendelle due to hearing about it from Hans’ stories. Hans reluctantly takes Kai to visit Arendelle. While they’re there, Anna trips and drops her scepter and one of Hans’ crewmembers picks it up and steals it. Hans and his crew flee Arendelle and a ship from the royal navy pursues them. Gerda stows away on the ship so she can help catch the thieves. Hans feels a strange chill in the air and considers it an omen, and fears that they may soon be attacked by someone wielding ice magic. So he ties the scepter to a piece of wood and throws it overboard. All the crewmembers, except Kai, complain to Hans about this, causing Hans to fear mutiny.
Arendelle soldiers retrieve the scepter from the water and are about to sail back when the ship is attacked by undead sailors lead by Euron. Euron slaughters Gerda's crew and consumes their blood, but Gerda uses her powers to escape and flee to Weselton. Euron realizes that Gerda is looking for the dagger when he finds Gerda’s notebook, but he struggles to understand a lot of what the notebook says because a lot of what’s in the notebook is written in a code. Meanwhile, Captain Hans runs out of grog to give to his crew, and he fears a mutiny when he hears his crew grumbling about it. In Weselton, Gerda foils Captain Hans from stealing from a brewery using her ice powers, but instead of thanking her, the people of Weselton accuse her of being a witch and lock her up with Hans. The two of them are about to be publicly executed when Kai uses fireworks to distract the guards and rescues them with the help of the other members of Hans' pirate crew, but one of the members of the crew knocks Gerda out from behind her. At first Hans contemplates using Gerda as a hostage, but she persuades Hans to help her find the dagger after she promises she will provide Kai with a comfortable life in Arendelle if he helps her. Gerda comes aboard his pirate ship “The Throwaway” in order to find the island where the dagger is hidden. The Throwaway was once a slave ship called The Dark One.
Shortly after Frozen, Hans and his brother Lars worked as privateers on a ship run by slaves. Hans led a mutiny on the slave ship and became a pirate, before fleeing to a strange and distant land (where natural laws work differently) for a time in an unsuccessful attempt to find the means to raise the dead, and that’s why he hasn’t aged much in Frozen 3. Hans has a “bastard” nephew with him called Kai. Kai is the son of Prince Lars, and he was a slave on a slave ship until Hans led the mutiny. Hans was ordered to whip Kai to death, and Hans reluctantly agreed to that order despite Lars’ protests. Hans whipped Kai 12 times before he threw down his whip and instigated the mutiny. Euron fires a cannonball at Hans from a nearby ship, but Lars dives in front of Hans and is struck instead. Before Lars dies, he makes Hans promise to take care of Kai so that Kai may become a better man than either of them. Once Lars dies, Hans swears to travel the seas to find a way to restore Lars back to life. Kai and Gerda fall in love with each other over the course of the movie. While on Gerda’s ship, Euron suspects that Gerda might come back to look for the notebook, but he briefly sails away from Gerda’s ship in order to hunt for “fresh meat”, leaving one of his minions behind on Gerda’s ship to guard the notebook. Gerda first asks Hans to sail to her ship to find her journal, which Hans is very reluctant to do so because that ship had just been attacked, but he relents when Gerda promises him that no one will get hurt. Hans sails to Gerda’s ship, and he and Gerda use a small rowboat to hop onto the ship. After spending some time looking for the notebook, the two of them finally find it and steal it from that minion, but that minion sends out a flare which alerts Euron to what’s going on.
The main villain of Frozen 3 is Euron, Hans’ father and former King of the Southern Isles and the person Hans fears the most because he’s responsible for Lars’ death. Prince Caleb, 1st born son of Euron is one of the villains serving under Euron, and Caleb is one of the people Hans fears. Caleb wants his curse to be broken so he can return to his wife and children. Euron captains his own ship. Shortly after Frozen, when Hans stole a slave ship, Euron sailed after him. Hans caused Euron to crash his ship into rocks situated right off the coast of the cursed Island of Shattered Shards by firing a cannonball at the steering wheel of the ship. Euron and his crew get cursed by the island into becoming undead beings who need fresh human blood to survive. Euron lost everything including his authority over the Southern Isles because of what Hans did and he gets filled with an intense rage. Euron ends up going after the dagger in order to use its power to curse the Southern Isles army into becoming undead warriors, but he deceives his crew into thinking he wants it in order to undo their curses. His crew, led by a furious Caleb, turn against him and grab hold of him when they find out the truth. In his rage, Euron stabs Hans with the magic dagger. He's about to cut Hans's throat when Caleb throws himself in harm's way and gets stabbed instead. Once Caleb gets stabbed, he shatters into shards of glass-like material and his soul floats to the afterlife. Caleb's act of sacrificial love breaks the curse Euron's crew was placed under, causing them to become mortal beings again. But Euron is still cursed because he was the only one who fully embraced the power of the curse. The crew, now fully against Euron, take the dagger from him and give it to Gerda, then attack Euron to give Gerda a chance to get away.
Gerda and the rest of her crew escape with the dagger on a small rowboat, but they have no ship because their pirate ship has been sunk. Kai wants Hans to use the magic of the dagger to save himself, but Hans chooses not to because he thinks the magic needs to be used to save Elsa because Elsa's suffering is greater. Kristoff plays the role of an antagonist for most of the movie. He doesn’t approve of people talking about Elsa because it brings back sad memories. By the time of Frozen 3, he’s lost all hope of Elsa ever coming back and is determined to stop Gerda from wasting her time looking for the dagger because many people in the past have died trying to look for the dagger. When he realizes that Gerda stowed away, he goes after her on a small ship. Kristoff saves Gerda and the others after he sees them on the rowboat. Gerda persuades him to heal Hans using troll medicine. Gerda tells Kristoff that she needs to get to Ahtohallan and bring the dagger with her as fast as she can, but Kristoff says it’s too dangerous because she nearly got killed the last time she went to Ahtohallan. But he reluctantly changes his mind when Hans remarks that no one, including Hans himself, can stop Gerda from doing whatever it takes to save her aunt.
After Hans is healed, Gerda runs across the sea to get to Ahtohallan with the dagger in an attempt to find Elsa before it's too late, unaware that she is being followed by Euron, who survived when his crewmembers attacked him. When she enters Ahtohallan, he follows her into the glacier. When she finds Elsa, she finds out that Elsa’s almost completely lost her memory of Anna. She manages to call the spirits towards her, but they don’t uncurse Elsa because they’re unable to absorb the dagger’s magic. Gerda starts to feel very cold and is about to leave Ahtohallan by stepping onto the shore when she figures out what Bulda meant. Gerda must break the dagger so the spirits can fully absorb its magic. Euron attempts to stop Gerda from doing this, saying that she’s stupid to give the dagger’s magic to the spirits instead of taking it for herself, and that with all that power she can secure everything else. Gerda is almost persuaded by Euron, but she still breaks the dagger. Furiously, Euron attacks Gerda and he even overpowers her. He’s about to break her neck when the curse is lifted from Elsa, and Elsa destroys Euron once and for all with the help of the 4 spirits. Suddenly, Ahtohallan begins to shake and slowly sink into the sea because the 4 spirits no longer need a 5th spirit now that they have what they desire, which means no human being need ever enter Ahtohallan again. Elsa and Gerda struggle to escape. Hans sees Ahtohallan sinking and sails towards it. Later, Anna looks out the window of her castle and sees one of her royal ships. Hans gets off the ship and he gets tied up by her guards just as he’s about to speak. He’s about to be thrown into the dungeons when Elsa, Kristoff, and Gerda appear.
Kai starts shipping Hans and Elsa the moment he sees them. Hans finds this a bit creepy.
That would be interesting.

Gerda wants to go looking for the dagger with Anna but accidents keep happening that delay them. While sailing, her ship is attacked by undead sailors lead by Euron. Euron slaughters her crew and consumes their blood, but Gerda uses her powers to escape and flee to Weselton. Euron realizes that Gerda is looking for the dagger when he finds Gerda’s notebook, but he struggles to understand a lot of what the notebook says because a lot of what’s in the notebook is written in a code. Meanwhile, Captain Hans runs out of grog to give to his crew and he fears a mutiny when he hears his crew grumbling about it.
Hans led a mutiny on the slave ship and became a pirate, before fleeing to a strange and distant land (where natural laws work differently) for a time, and that’s why he hasn’t aged much in Frozen 3.
Euron captains his own ship and has a bag that's bigger on the inside. It's filled with things like magic carpets, magic beans, and poisoned apples. Shortly after Frozen, when Hans stole a slave ship, Euron sailed after him. His crew, led by a furious Caleb, turn against him and grab hold of him when they find out the truth, and they sacrifice themselves to destroy Euron once and for all, but not before Euron stabs Hans with a poisoned blade. The snowball scene in Frozen Fever is also referenced. Hans thought the snowball was the result of his brothers trying to gaslight him into thinking Elsa was trying to kill him.
Wow what an adventure this sounds! It really does. I love it! Elsa being stranded in Atohallan for years seeing it as a curse from the spirits while Anna in those years has two children one of which has very similar, almost identical powers to Elsa as a gift to Anna for breaking the damn similar to how Elsa and her powers was a gift to Iduna for saving Agnarr when she was younger is all very intriguing. Love how Hans is a pirate. I guess it would suit him. And it's such a lovely tribute to the Snow Queen, making Gerda, magical warm hearted daughter of Anna and Kai, col hearted nephew of Hans fall in love. Oh and I definitely love how Hans is helping Gera to save Elsa and after Anna sees Hans helping to not only save Elsa but bring her home, he settles in Arendelle (and ooh let me guess - After seeing Elsa talks about him behind his back with the "unredeemable monster" and the giant snowball incident, he gets attracted to Elsa and soon they get married and have more magical kids *SCREAMS*) The end definitely made up my morning!
However, I don't think Frozen 3 will jump that far with their own children. But I do believe that if they ever show their offspring in the future of the franchise, I highly believe that Anna's children will have powers in the same context as Elsa with their mother's good deed being rewarded by them and their powers. And I do believe that if Hans appears in Frozen 3, he will be redeemed. Even though I don't consider him to be a genuine villain, he did make some bad choices which affected the sisters so to them he will be redeemed and I think it will be a parallel to him almost killing Elsa. So he might save her in parallel to almost killing her. Anna hates him not just for what he did to her but mainly because he tried to kill Elsa so if she sees this he's definitely forgiven I believe.
But back to your amazing story! Whether or not something along those lines happen, it's really interesting and definitely an adventure to read! I really really loved it!

You Can Do Better
Hilda fanfiction
Summary: After Erik lets slip he started the war with the Trolls on purpose, Gerda forces him to make things up by doing all the dirty jobs around Safety Patrol. But Erik won't take it lying down.
***
The alarm blared.
Face down on his pillow, Erik groaned. “Whhhhyy...” His arm flopped out like a limp noodle, fumbling on his bedside table until he knocked the offending object to the bedroom floor.
The clock continued to chirp at him.
“Why, I don't even have a job. Why did I-”
Though hazy, last night’s events came flooding back. Erik's chest tightened. He rolled up on one shoulder, straining to see the faintly glowing numerals. Nine am.
“Crap.” Erik scrambled up, throwing himself out of bed. His bedsheets were still tangled about him, and he tumbled out and rolled straight into the wall. He could not be late - not for this. Being late would only make things worse. Not that he could make it any worse than he had last night. What the hell had possessed him to spill his guts like that?
Erik flung open his cupboard. The rails were almost bare, mostly empty hangers, a couple of Hawaiian shirts, and a pair of shorts. At least they were one of his newer, nice pairs. The rest of his clothes were strewn across his room and in the laundry. He should have done the washing before now - but what was the point until he ran out of clothes? Clearly, in retrospect, because then he’d have some choice.
Erik tugged them on and strode through his house, searching for his keys. He found them on the coffee table, amidst a clutter of half full glasses and plates. The mess barely registered. At first, the slowly deteriorating state of his home had stressed him out, though it had never been quite enough to override the dwindling motivation to keep it tidy, as he liked.
In the hall, Erik shrugged on a jacket. The medals and achievements filling most of one wall caught his eye. His medal, dead centre, and scattered between everything, embedded in the wall, were a half dozen darts. Okay. He did not remember doing that. One was embedded in a photo of himself, right in the eye.
He should take that out.
He didn't.
Twenty minutes later, Erik stood outside Safety Patrol HQ. He had not been here since he retired. His apprehension warred with the aching familiarity. How often had he walked through those doors? Back then, he had not paused, but come striding in, flinging the doors back so hard he’d made the glass rattle. Today, he creaked them open tentatively, and slunk into the reception area.
“Erik! The Captain said you were coming to see her today. It's so nice to see your face again - it feels like forever.” Behind the desk, Delores smiled up at him over her wire-rimmed glasses.
Erik returned the faint smile, hoping she didn’t spot the tremble in his jaw. “Ah... yeah... I... so can I... shall I just go to her office?“
“You know the way, hun. Don't forget to sign yourself into the visitors’ book.”
“Oh, right.” Because he no longer worked here. The thought brought a wash of regret and a lump to his throat. Erik made himself busy snatching up the pen and scrawling in his details.
He ran into no one on the way to Gerda's office - thank gods. But if she'd told Delores, they'd all know he'd been about by lunchtime. Maybe Gerda had told them all already. Maybe she’d already told them everything.
He arrived at his office abruptly. No. Gerda’s office. She'd left the door open. Could he not have one moment to steel himself? She was focused on paperwork when he stepped into the doorway and he stood there awkwardly, throat tightening even more than it was already. Finally, he raised his hand to give the open door a gentle rap.
Before he did, Gerda spoke. “You’re late.”
”I... sorry.“ The apology came out with a squeak. Erik cleared this throat. ”Gerda, listen, about what I said last night...“
Gerda met his gaze. ”Maybe you should shut the door.“
Erik closed it behind him and sat on the chair opposite her, though she didn't bother offering it to him. Gerda tidied the stack of paperwork she'd been working on, tapping the edges until the pages were even, and put them in her out tray.
She had less in here than he had when he'd been in the office, though he had never kept it untidy. It was just that little more organised. Some of his photos were still up on the wall, though there was one recently bare space. Erik drew in a quick breath, the sound loud in the enclosed space. The photo missing was the one with the two of them when they'd got their promotions, both grinning like delirious idiots.
”What about last night?“ Gerda said tersely, bringing his attention snapping back round.
”I... well... I um... you... you told me to come here and I... you told me to come in so I figured you should...“
”I'm interested in what you were about to say. About last night. What you might have to say about it when you are less... inebriated.“
”I... I just wanted to...“ What? The night was blurry, but perhaps he knew. He’d had to tell someone, to have someone understand. Surely Gerda would? But she hadn’t, and now he had to face the consequences. But perhaps that had been the point. Not to tell someone he now understood his hubris, his errors, but to have someone hold him accountable. He’d gotten off light. Far too light. There should have been more consequences. He deserved far worse than he’d got. Now though? Perhaps Gerda was right about sobriety changing things. ”I... um... I said... I barely remember what I said...”
Gerda leaned forward a little. ”Let me jog your memory. You told me that night at the wall was not a mistake. It was not a case that you let things get out of hand, that you got caught up in your own stories to the point of believing them. ” Her voice took on an edge, her words enunciated a little more carefully. Like she was barely containing herself. “You told me you riled the Trolls on purpose. You told me that your plan was to start a fight with them, all so you could step in and play the hero.”
“I… well, I remember a lot more rambling. So that’s not exactly…”
“It’s the bottom line, Erik. So tell me, now you’re clear headed enough to think about what you're saying, is that assessment accurate? Or would you like to talk your way out of this? That is what you’re good at.”
Erik’s chest heaved, heart thudding. Consequences. That was what he’d feared. Gerda was glaring at him, and she might have been contained, but she was livid. As she should be. She would not let this go. And yet she was giving him the chance to back out. Erik’s jaw worked, yet no words came. Even as he desperately wanted to gasp at that flimsy lifeline she’d offered him, he could not. He didn’t deserve it.
Erik wrapped his arms about himself, stilling the shake that had come into his hands. His gaze dropped to his lap, his voice barely a whisper. “It’s accurate.”
The silence stretched. Gerda’s chair screeched back, the sound making Erik jump.
“Do you have any idea how many people could have died, Erik? I thought I could forgive you if it was all an accident, but…” Gerda paced behind the desk, her boots squeaking on the tiles as she spun at each end of the small space. “Not only your officers, but civilians, the people you swore an oath to protect. You got up on stage, and dripped charisma, but it wasn’t even exaggeration, it was straight up lies. You used them. You used us; you used me. Do you realise what you put at risk for nothing but your own glory? It wasn’t even to stop a war, it was - gods, I don’t even understand why! These officers would have done anything for you, but you treated us all like crap. You know how nice it is to walk around here and not have everyone scared you’re going to yell at them for not tying a bell properly, while all along you were carrying on with this, this…”
Gerda’s fist thumped down on the desk. “Look at me, Erik! You misused public resources, at best. You deserve to be in jail. Not given a bloody medal!”
Erik obeyed. Her gaze trapped his and wouldn’t let go. More than what she’d said, he read it in her steely look. She was serious. He had always been able to talk or bully her around, but he no longer held the power here. She had the position, and he’d handed her the truth. And gods, she’d be right to tear apart every falsehood he’d built for himself. But that was all he had. She would destroy all he had left.
Erik’s lip trembled, and it was only as his vision blurred that he could look away. “Please… Gerda, don’t make me give it back. Not publicly. I can’t…” His voice broke, and he felt a tear slip free.
Gerda sat back down. When she finally spoke, her voice was soft, a sharp contrast to the moment before. “That’s not what I’m going to do. I would like to give you community service - but I think even that would raise too many questions.”
“Qu…questions?”
“For Safety Patrol,” she said. “Safety Patrol is a mess right now. We need to move on. From you. I am flat out trying to convince the mayor’s office we need to focus on liaising with the creatures about us - hell, at least the elves will help with the paperwork. And I’m still dealing with budget overruns from everything you did last year.
“Safety Patrol does not need attention diverted to you, again, which is all that would accomplish. Outing you would only result in a public spectacle, and Safety Patrol would suffer for it.”
Her words sunk in, and Erik found he could move. He sniffed and hastily wiped at his eyes. “You’re not… going to do anything?”
“I didn’t say that. On top of everything, the cleaner quit last week. I had also considered getting an intern to cover odd jobs, but it never seemed fair to me to make someone run around after everyone and not even pay them. Until now.”
Erik blinked at her and slowly raised a hand to tap to his chest. “Wait, me? You’re punishing me by giving me a job?”
“I’m giving you two ‘jobs’. Though I use the term loosely, because I won’t be paying you. I can’t make you serve the community without people asking questions. But I can certainly make you serve Safety Patrol. That might at least free us up a little, so, in a way-“
It was still rattling around in his head. Not what she wanted from him, she’d spelled it out pretty clearly, but how this connected to what he’d done. “You want me to clean up after everyone?”
“Part of being a leader, Erik, is serving the people under you. Not using them. You failed at that, so now you can serve them from the bottom of the heap. Maybe that will help make up for some of this - at least to Safety Patrol. It will accomplish one thing, at the very least. Every time I see you, I’ll know you’re getting some small shred of what you deserve.
“The janitor’s closet is down the hall. So, go, right now, and pick up a mop and whatever else you need. You can start in the office bathrooms.” She tugged the next bit of paper from her stack aggressively, then slapped it down onto the desk.
“Wait now? But what do I…”
Gerda didn’t look up. “Figure it out. Now, get out of my office.”

Frozen 3 Story idea. “Frozen 3: 22 years later” is set 22 years after the 1st movie. Not long after Frozen 2, Elsa suffered what happens to all 5th spirits by getting bound to Ahtohallan with a curse. The spirits cursed her(the spirits see it as a bit of a blessing), which caused her to get stranded on the island of Ahtohallan, and to start to forget about her life prior to having accepted the role of 5th spirit.
Anna has two 18-year-old daughters, Gerda and Karen. Gerda is fascinated by the story of when Anna saved Elsa during the eternal winter(aka the events of Frozen 1) and wants to write a very unbiased account of what happened. She likes collecting items like newspaper clippings that relate to the events of Frozen 1. She wants to hear Hans side of the story, but she can’t because Hans disappeared and was branded a pirate by the Southern Isles due to stealing a ship. Karen, on the other hand, is fascinated by the story of how Elsa saved Arendelle from being flooded(aka the events of Frozen 2). She’s seen Elsa once and she barely survived that time because Ahtohallan was so cold even for her, which caused her family much trauma. She’s the main character of Frozen 3, and she spends most of the movie looking for Maui's fishhook in order to get the spirits to free her Aunt from both the curse and her role as the 5th spirit. Gerda learned some things about the fishhook from Bulda, including that in order to grant ETERNITY to Elsa she must feed the 4 fish using the fishhook. The pieces of the fishhook spell ETERNITY. After studying ancient myths, Gerda learns that Maui(before he met Moana) stole magic from the 4 spirits, trapping the magic in his fishhook, which is why the spirits need human help to perform their duties in Ahtohallan, hence why the 5th spirit exists. If the magic is returned to the spirits, they will no longer have any need for a 5th spirit and Elsa will be free. Maui eventually decided to return the magic to the spirits, but he lost the fishhook before he could do it. But Gerda needs to find the fishhook quickly otherwise the magic binding Elsa to Ahtohallan will become irreversible.
Gerda wants to go looking for the fishhook with Anna but accidents keep happening that delay them. While sailing, her ship is attacked by undead sailors lead by Euron. Euron slaughters her crew and consumes their blood, but Gerda uses her powers to escape and flee to Weselton. Euron realizes that Gerda is looking for the fishhook when he finds Gerda’s notebook, but he struggles to understand a lot of what the notebook says because a lot of what’s in the notebook is written in a code. Meanwhile, Captain Hans runs out of grog to give to his crew and he fears a mutiny when he hears his crew grumbling about it.
Shortly after Frozen, Hans and his brother Lars worked as privateers on a ship run by slaves. Hans led a mutiny on the slave ship and became a pirate, before fleeing to Neverland(a place where nobody ages) for a time, and that’s why he hasn’t aged much in Frozen 3.
Euron captains his own ship and has a bag that's bigger on the inside. It's filled with things like magic carpets, magic beans, and poisoned apples. Shortly after Frozen, when Hans stole a slave ship, Euron sailed after him. Euron ends up going after the fishhook in order to use its power to curse the Southern Isles army into becoming undead warriors, but he deceives his crew into thinking he wants it in order to undo their curses. His crew, led by a furious Caleb, turn against him and grab hold of him when they find out the truth, and they sacrifice themselves to destroy Euron once and for all, but not before Euron stabs Hans with a poisoned blade. Gerda and the rest of her crew escape with the fishhook on a small rowboat, but they have no ship because their pirate ship has been sunk. Kai wants Hans to use the magic of the fishhook to save himself, but Hans chooses not to because he thinks the magic needs to be used to save Elsa because Elsa's suffering is greater. Kristoff plays the role of an antagonist for most of the movie. He doesn’t approve of people talking about Elsa because it brings back sad memories. By the time of Frozen 3, he’s lost all hope of Elsa ever coming back and is determined to stop Gerda from wasting her time looking for the fishhook because many people in the past have died trying to look for the fishhook. When he realizes that Gerda stowed away, he goes after her on a small ship. Kristoff saves Gerda and the others after he sees them on the rowboat. Gerda persuades him to heal Hans using troll medicine. Gerda tells Kristoff that she needs to get to Ahtohallan and bring the fishhook with her as fast as she can, but Kristoff says it’s too dangerous because she nearly got killed the last time she went to Ahtohallan. But he reluctantly changes his mind when Hans remarks that no one, including Hans himself, can stop Gerda from doing whatever it takes to save her aunt.
When she finds Elsa, she finds out that Elsa’s almost completely lost her memory of Anna. She manages to call the spirits towards her, but they don’t uncurse Elsa because they’re unable to absorb the fishhook’s magic. Gerda starts to feel very cold and is about to leave Ahtohallan by stepping onto the shore when she figures out what Bulda meant.
Kai starts shipping Hans and Elsa the moment he sees them. Hans finds this a bit creepy. Also, scenes like the charade scene are referenced in the movie. Hans hears from Gerda that Elsa said he's an "unredeemable monster" and he's somewhat sad because he'd prefer the term "scoundrel". The snowball scene in Frozen Fever is also referenced. Hans thought the snowball was the result of his brothers trying to gaslight him into thinking Elsa was trying to kill him.

ila release the robber girl & sun threesome i beg 🤓
hihihi
There's really just concepts to release yet, buut
Robber girl is another defunct Ladies Night wip! It's Arya/Myrcella The Snow Queen AU inspired by the soviet cartoon in which. Objectively. I have eyes with which I see that Gerda and the Robber girl make out. Don't lie to me. In the vaguely post apocalyptic wartime westeros Myrcella is looking to rescue her little brother, but she runs in a band of outlaws captained by a mysterious undead lady, who has a daughter who's fond of woodland creatures and immediately claims her as her own... it's just too fitted.
Sun Threesome is hopefully coming out this June for the Tyrion seasons of my love eventttt. The threesome is with Garlan Tyrell and wife because I'm a DUMB ASS who thought for all ten years of my asoiaf fondness that the scene of him staring yearningly to some Fossoway guy and his pregnant wife being cute was about them (some guy and a Fossoway lady, you know) and when I realized I already had this idea. But fuck it it will happen
