So... yeah, this is insanity and obviously I really do need to work on these. I’ve written either full chapters or full scenes for each of these, it’s just that everything gets so long and I lose motivation and start something new... I vow to change this at some point in my life and get all of these written and out there, I swear I never forget about a fic and I have opened all of these and written a bit more in the past year, even if it’s just a few more words. Someday they’ll all be finished.

Jaskier straightens his new plaid blazer, squares his shoulders, and swans his way into the Director’s office as confidently as possible. The Director stands quickly from the leather chair behind his enormous desk and offers Jaskier a wrinkled hand to shake. “Good morning, Agent Pankratz, and thank you for coming in on such short notice. It’s nice to finally meet you face-to-face.”

“And you, Sir,” Jaskier nods. The Director gestures for him to take a seat and the agent does, trying to keep his nerves from showing. “Your message sounded urgent; how can I help you?”

“You’ve been with us for just over two years, yes?”

“Yes.”

“You attended medical school but chose not to practice; why not become a doctor? Why work for the FBI?”

“My parents thought it was just rebellion,” Jaskier says, chuckling a bit to break the tension. “But actually, I was recruited out of medical school. I thought it would be a good opportunity to establish myself.”

“Are you familiar with an agent by the name of Geralt deRiv?”

Jaskier tries desperately to hide his shock and confusion. Of course he’s heard of Geralt ‘Spooky’ deRiv, the FBI’s most notorious psychological profiler-slash-field agent. “I know him by reputation, Sir.”

“Reputation?” the Director looks skeptical and Jaskier hurries to continue.

“I know that he’s an Oxenfurt-educated Psychologist who wrote one of the most educational and widely-read studies on serial killers and the occult. I know he’s helped catch several notorious and dangerous murderers. He’s an incredible analyst.”

The Director’s eyebrows scrunch together thoughtfully and he glances up at Jaskier with an expression of utter exhaustion on his wizened face. “Lately he’s been… focused on a project outside the FBI mainstream. We’re having trouble reigning in his less standard investigative practices and we need... Have you ever heard of the X-Files, Agent Pankratz?”

“They deal with unexplained phenomena, if I’m correct, Director.”

“Yes, Agent Pankratz, you are correct. That’s why we’ve asked you here, you see. We’d like you to assist Agent deRiv. We need you to write field reports of your experiences and double-check the validity of his work.”

“Are you asking me to debunk the X-Files and all of Agent deRiv’s work?”

“No, Agent Pankratz. We merely want you to observe, assist, and solve whatever cases possible. We want you to tell us the truth.”

“Understood, Sir.”

A few long minutes later, Jaskier finds himself standing outside a nondescript beige door with a covered glass window; the same as every other door in the long white hallway. He knocks twice and puts his hand on the knob without waiting for an answer, even as a low voice calls from within: “Nobody here but the FBI’s most unwanted.”

Jaskier steps into the room and takes a long, slow look around. As with any FBI office, there are a couple wooden desks piled with boxes of files, their accompanying chairs invisible beneath the collected data. The walls are covered with graphs and data charts, newspaper clippings and, oddly enough, there’s a poster displayed prominently at the center of the chaos depicting a UFO and the large white block letters: I WANT TO BELIEVE.

Huddled over a desk, his surprisingly broad shoulders hunched forward and his head lowered over a light board, sits the most handsome man Jaskier has ever laid eyes on. This is Geralt deRiv? This absolute god of a person, with long white hair that cascades over his shoulders like a waterfall of moonlight and eyes so piercingly light that they’re almost gold rather than hazel… this is Spooky deRiv?! Jaskier takes a moment to organize his thoughts before fully entering the room and approaching his new (gorgeous) partner.

“I’m Agent Julian Pankratz, but you can call me Jaskier,” the younger man introduces himself, stepping forward and offering his hand. “I’ve been assigned to work with you.”

“Ah, lovely. Who did you piss off to end up down here with me?” the senior agent grunts, glancing between Jaskier’s hand and the lightboard. 

“I’m actually really excited to be your new partner,” Jaskier smiles. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“Hmm.”

“If you doubt my credentials I have my-”

“You’re a medical doctor even though you did your undergraduate thesis on Einstein’s Twin Theory. High marks, especially for someone who had the nerve to rewrite Einstein.”

“Yes, well-”

“It’s just that the laws of physics apply so very rarely to my work,” Geralt gestures at the alien poster, the lightboard, the walls tacked up with newspaper clippings; Jaskier shrugs in reply. “But maybe I can get your medical opinion on this.”

He turns off the lights and shows Jaskier a series of photos, followed by a chemical equation that leaves the doctor reeling. Holy shit. This is… fascinating. 

“Four different states, four different women. All the same marks and the same unknown chemical compound left behind. Now, can you tell me why this is being labeled unexplained phenomena and shoved down here with the rest of these boxes? Why isn’t this case getting solved by our outstanding agents, right this very moment? This picture is less than two days old.”

“Well I suppose that it is unexplained, isn’t it? Until we solve the case, of course,” Jaskier grins at Geralt over his shoulder. He knows he’s a goner. It’s too late for him, both professionally and romantically. This guy has him by the heart and the mind. Geralt smirks a bit and shakes his head. Jaskier looks back at the projector screen and asks, “Do you have any theories?”

“Several.”

“Well then, partner,” Jaskier grins, shoving a box over so that he can perch on the desk’s worn surface. “Let’s get started.”

X-Files The Witcher AU fic idea

but like, not what you expect. Geralt and Jaskier aren’t Mulder and Scully because Mulder and Scully are Mulder and Scully.  Geralt of Rivia really is a centuries-old witcher hunting down, de-cursing, and/or relocating dangerous magical beings beneath the nose of modern society. Jaskier is not centuries-old and is in fact is 31, thank you, no matter what his freshman students might think. He’s a fairly popular adjunct professor who teaches musical theory and history and uh... runs around after a centuries-old monster hunter whilst doing his best to keep his identity and activities secret from the authorities whilst also recording it for posterity. And has been doing so. Since he was 18. He does not see these two activities as antithetical at all. Oh, and did I mention it’s the 90s? The home cam recorder Jaskier carries with him on cases weighs about as much as a small child. His jeans are high waisted and nearly painted on and also yes they are appropriate field attire, shut up Geralt. (And of course there’s gotta be a “dressing Geralt up in modern clothes to blend in/escape or w/e” chapter where his ass, finely encased in high-waisted Levis, takes out every person with eyes in a two-block radius. The breezy shirt unbuttoned down the chest and with the sleeves rolled up is just overkill on top of that. Every one of Jaskier’s students thinks his big hunky boyfriend is to die for. Jaskier has to somehow keep up the ruse and get Geratl safely across campus and under the radar again without combusting on the spot. ) (Also. Scrunchies are IN, and Jaskier may or may not have picked up a package for Geralt as a joke that he is now afraid to carry through for fear of retribution being swift and juvenile.) Cue a ton of fun, tense, absolutely delicious half-true rumors being heard, near-misses being had, and shocking discoveries being made as Scully and Mulder chase after someone who cannot exist yet who they quickly begin to realize does; as Jaskier pulls his who, me? obfuscation routine when the Feds show up, multiple times and with an easy undaunted smile; and as Geralt just tries to do his fucking job. It’s not his fault no one thinks he exists. Like. It’s in the history books. It’s right there.   He’s still half-myth by the end of the fic, but Scully and Mulder get one earth-shattering scene where they actually see him in action, in the flesh, fighting or containing a thing that can’t exist. And then, I dunno, let him go or help him get away or something bc the government would just contain and probably dissect him and they’ve learned enough about him not to want that to happen. They team up with Jaskier to get it done. Cue the beginnings of a somewhat strange friendship. They get Jaskier’s number so they can ask him to ask Geralt when they find something that might be his area of expertise. Maybe they have brunch or something idk fin.

Fic writer tag game! sort of tagged by @frankthesnek 😁

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

190! Climbing a lot faster towards the 200 mark than I did at the 100 mark, thanks to embracing the joy of drabbles, short fics, and deciding sometimes a quick fic without endless editing is in fact plenty good enough 😂

2) What's your total AO3 word count?

673,204 words total including various collaborative or group efforts that I didn't write alone (incidentally, I missed hitting exactly 666,666 recently by TWELVE FUCKING WORDS. Just close enough to make me go nnnnooooo..!! when I noticed... but not quite enough to be worth trying to edit my fics down by 12 words exactly 🙈 (and tbh it wouldn't quite feel the same as posting something actually tailored to hit that mark on purpose in the first place)

3) How many fandoms have your written for and what are they?

Twelve! (essentially, anyway - if you could all of Star Wars as a single large fandom)

Star Wars, Stargate, The Witcher, Midsomer Murders, Assassin's Creed, The Expanse, The Dresden Files, RPF, Stormlight Archive, The Mentalist, Aquaman, and Good Omens.

it's one heckuva skewed distribution though, the vast majority of my fics are SW, followed by stargate, and the rest trail off from there.

4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

All Geraskier Witcher fics, that being the biggest and most current fandom and ship I've ever been actively writing for 😂 - A Tight Fit, Stolen Moments, Undignified, Keep it up, and Intoxicating.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yup, always! Because I love getting them and I also love when I get replies on comments I leave on other writers' fics. And I like connecting with people 😊

6) What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Hands-down it's my "Zombie / what's in your head" MCD thranto fic. I have a small handful of others with ambiguous or bittersweet endings, but that one is the only thing I've ever written that merits the Sad Ending and Hurt No Comfort tags (and oof does it ever merit them)

7) What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

hmmm... most of my fics have a happy ending in the "happy ending" wink-wink nudge-nudge 😉😏 sense at the very least 😂

But I'm probably gonna go with Curious Creatures (thranto filthy fairytale AU) because it really culminates with that "lived happily ever after" vibe. As opposed to the sort of.. "happy in the present and immediate future" happy ending of my typical in-'verse fics.

8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?

Nope, I've thought of a few but never quite gotten around to writing one (maybe someday!). I have some weird fucking AUs that I really like though 😂

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yes, but somehow very little? i.e. a whole lot less than I would expect to receive given what I write sometimes 😅 Worst hate I've gotten was actually on twitter rather than on AO3, once directed at me for an incest kink fic someone took offense to (it was mostly just funny), and once indirectly in a different fandom (seeing people making fun of a piss kink fic because they took offense to it.. existing in the character tag?).

I've had people be actively rude to or just ignore a co-author on fics I've done with friends more than once though, weirdly enough, which I actually find a lot more anger-inducing than hate directed at me is.

10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

....all of the smut 😂 mostly slash, lots of kink, some porn with feelings and some porn with plot and some where the porn IS the plot. And a whole lot of self indulgent PWP 😏

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep I've been really obviously ripped off before and it's a real shitty feeling

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah! Just once I think, but it was pretty neat to be asked 😄

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yup! Several times with a few different people, it was a lot of fun.

14) What's your all time favorite ship?

Don't really have one? I ship too many ships across too many fandoms to pick One Favourite For All Time 🙈 Plus, I mean... interests shift and I don't want to wind up making myself feel guilty for that if it does happen to even my favourite ships. I've seen people stubbornly holding onto a ship they don't seem to be all that interested in anymore, just because their whole fandom identity is wrapped up in it. It... really doesn't look like it'd be a fun time 😬

15) What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

There's quite a few, some partially published and some still in my fic writing folders, but I hesitate to actually say "I don't think I'll ever finish This One" because sometimes I do randomly come back to shit out of the blue, or because a re-watch/-play/-read rekindles the interest in it again. Probably not likely in a lot of cases, but... squirrel-brain does what squirrel-brain wants to do 😂

16) What are your writing strengths?

Sex scenes 😎 and short fic of all flavours

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Sometimes my overly long sentences are good, but sometimes they do just unnecessarily make the paragraph harder to read. I also have a tendency to stray to far into Over-Description territory of characters' physical states and actions.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

It can be effective and immersive, but only if it doesn't leave people confused and having to jump up or down to translation notes at the start or end. My favourite use of other languages in dialogue is to use it only for single words that are evident or explained in context, or for terms of endearment where it's not necessary to know the exact meaning of it (especially when that stuff is part of canon anyway, like the smattering of Italian used in Assassin's Creed, or Radek cursing in Czech)

If it's like full sentences, I just write the line in english in italics, along with something like "X replied in [language]" to signal it's happening.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Midsomer Murders 😊

20) What's your favorite fic you've written?

It changes, really... I guess currently it's probably Inflection Point just cause I'm still really proud of myself for actually doing it 😄

“Oh my gods, Geralt, sometimes you’re downright stupid, you know that?”

Geralt flinches away from the cotton pad covered with isopropyl and glares when Jaskier grabs at his bun to keep him still. The alcohol stings and his forehead wrinkles when Jaskier dabs at the shallow cut again to clear it of debris. “Ow.”

“Yeah, well,” Jaskier cleans the wound carefully, his tongue caught between his teeth in a way that sends Geralt’s heart jack-rabbiting around his chest cavity. “Maybe if you hadn’t been running through the woods in the dark this wouldn’t be happening.”

“I couldn’t just let him get away, Jask!”

Jaskier finishes with the cotton pad and pulls a bandage from his pocket. 

“Do you just... carry those around?” Geralt asks.

“Doctor habit,” the brunette replies. Sometimes the Special Agent forgets just how young Jaskier is and how intelligent. A medical doctor working at the FBI? Assigned to be his partner? He’s never felt so lucky. “I can see your brain working. What did you see in the woods that has you so stoic tonight, Geralt?”

“Nothing in particular just... working through the case again.”

Jaskier smiles and the sight is beautiful. So fucking beautiful that it nearly steals Geralt’s breath away completely. 

“I’m going to head back to my place, alright? If you feel dizzy or have any vision problems, call me or an ambulance right away.”

“Why not just stay here for the night?”

Geralt isn’t sure why he offered but he can’t take it back now. Jaskier blushes and the bright kitchen light reveals everything. 

“It wouldn’t be appropriate,” he shakes his head, backing toward the door. Geralt wants to stand. Wants to run to him and wrap him up in the tightest, most loving embrace he can manage. “Goodnight, Geralt.”

With no small amount of regret, Geralt lets him go on his merry way. “Goodnight, Jask. Sweet dreams.”

Jaskier pops the dark green bottle of beer open and hands it over to Geralt. He does his best to avert his gaze but finds his eyes drawn to Geralt’s throat as his partner immediately takes a hearty swig. He’s definitely looking away by the time Geralt speaks again. “That really hits the spot after a chase on foot through a public park. Thank you kindly, Agent Pankratz.”

“We’re sitting in my living room at three in the goddamn morning, Geralt,” Jaskier rolls his eyes and cocks one hip to the side. “I think we can dispense with the formalities.”

“Why did you bring me back to your place instead of taking me to, I don’t know, the hospital?” Geralt asks, raising a curious eyebrow. Jaskier hides his easy blush by sticking most of his torso into the fridge to scavenge for another beer. 

“I have all the supplies I need to take care of you here,” he replies. The sound of his voice is muffled by the depth of the fridge. “And health insurance is a bitch to deal with when you’re as tired and exhausted as we are.”

The senior agent huffs out a laugh and takes another drink; Jaskier hears the bottle clink against the tabletop as Geralt sets it down. “You’re damn right about that. Never liked hospitals much, anyway.”

“And yet they stuck you with a medical doctor for a partner,” Jaskier teases. He takes a fortifying swallow of his own cheap IPA and shudders at the sharp, sour tang of hops. He’s going to need to start stocking his fridge with better drink options if these clandestine late-night meetings with Geralt. 

Speaking of his partner, the white-haired agent is staring at him from across the small room with an intense and unfamiliar sort of look in his eyes. There’s an unusual depth to it, a depth that’s beginning to frighten Jaskier as the silent moments continue to pass. Eventually Geralt speaks. It’s quieter than Jaskier has ever heard him speak before, his voice barely carrying through the dimly lit kitchen: “And for that I will be eternally indebted to the FBI, I suppose.”

Jaskier’s heart begins to thrum with increasing speed, heating his face and sending a dangerous thrill through every nerve in his limbs. Geralt is still staring at him, those golden eyes dark and liquid in the dim kitchen light despite their intense focus. The effect is rather disarming and Jaskier finds himself stepping closer, settling across from his partner at the tiny breakfast table. “That’s very kind of you, Geralt.”

The White Wolf snorts and finally turns away, now facing towards the window above the sink. His expression hardens a bit and Jaskier feels himself beginning to panic anew. What if he’s misunderstood Geralt’s meaning entirely? What if he-

“I can hear you thinking from here, Pankratz,” the senior agent chuckles, still looking out the window. “But I meant what I said before. You’re the… You’re the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, Jask.”

Geralt twirls the neck of the beer bottle in his hand absentmindedly. His neck is over-warm and his flyaway hairs are beginning to stick to his temples a bit. Jaskier blinks rapidly before managing to compose himself. “Thank you, Geralt. That is an incredible compliment. You are, without a doubt, my most trusted friend.” 

“Do you believe in love, Agent Pankratz?” 

“Huh?”

“I know you don’t always believe my crazy theories. You’re a scientist and you like to have proof of things, tangible proof. With those parameters set in place, that demand for empirical data, do you believe in things like love?”

Jaskier’s heart leaps into his throat with the agility of a Russian dancer and sticks there. His palms go sweaty and slick against the cold glass of his own green bottle as he debates how to respond for a moment; then it hits him. It hits him like a freight train.

“Geralt,” he begins, standing again and moving into his partner’s space. Geralt does not shy away, does not flinch back or squirm or glare. Jaskier steadies himself and leans down a bit, their eyes locked. Before he pushes their lips together for the first time he whispers: “Here’s my tangible proof.”

The senior agent’s lips are soft and dry beneath his own, chapped from being nibbled at when he focused too hard on a puzzle. Geralt gasps softly when their mouths connect and Jaskier takes the opportunity to run his tongue over the tip of his partner’s sharp canine, a detail about the older man that has always fascinated him. Geralt’s hands find their way to Jaskier’s waist and tug him down so that he’s straddling Geralt’s lap. Jaskier slips the ponytail holder out of Geralt’s hair and thrills at the feeling of those soft tresses falling into his hands. 

They kiss for a long minute before coming back up for air. Jaskier laughs breathlessly and tucks his face against Geralt’s neck, unsure of what exactly they’re supposed to do now.

“Wow,” Geralt mutters. “Just… wow.”

“Have I rendered you extra speechless?” Jaskier finally asks, sitting back and looking at Geralt’s face once again. “Was that… I’m sorry, I should have asked first.”

“No, that was-” Geralt laughs again “-that was amazing. I’ve been dreaming about that since our third assignment. I… I love you, too, Jask.”

“Dear heart,” Jaskier reaches to cup Geralt’s face with his hands. He brings their foreheads together gently, happy for the warmth where their skin is touching, “Oh, my silly Geralt. I love you so much.”

“...So who’s going to tell Skinner?”

“Shit.”
