My 5 Most Favorite Badass Middle Age & Older Ladies in various fandoms!
(because I realize they're a rare treasure that deserve some recognition)
Chrisjen Avasarala - The Expanse
The only politician I trust. Curses constantly and it's always glorious. Would have saved the solar system in five minutes if she wasn't surrounded by idiots and assholes. And a goddamn fashion icon.
Katarina Jones - 12 Monkeys
The best example of the duality of man. Like, Dr. Unethical Human Experimentation In Order to Create Time Travel and Save 7 Billion People but Actually Just One Person. Objectively The Worst. But also we all love her.
Toph Beifong - Legend of Korra
The Greatest Earthbender in the universe. Can still take upstart little dictators down a few pegs. Beats up the hero for training purposes... enjoys it a lot.
Mirror Universe Philippa Georgiou - Star Trek: Discovery
Evil. Genocidal dictator. No remorse. Unfortunately the alternate universe version of her dead adopted daughter is a goody two shoes. Typical.
Esme "Granny" Weatherwax - Discworld
I could try to describe her... or I could leave it to Sir Terry Pratchett himself:
"Witches are not by nature gregarious, at least with other witches, and they certainly don't have leaders. Granny Weatherwax was the most highly-regarded of the leaders they didn't have."
&
"Granny Weatherwax was not a good loser. From her point of view, losing was something that happened to other people."
&
Granny’s implicit belief that everything should get out of her way extended to other witches, very tall trees and, on occasion, mountains.
&
We look to… the edges,' said Mistress Weatherwax. 'There’s a lot of edges, more than people know. Between life and death, this world and the next, night and day, right and wrong… an’ they need watchin’. We watch ‘em, we guard the sum of things. And we never ask for any reward. That’s important.
& finally
If anyone locked me in a dungeon, there'd be screams.

Multiverse Diplomacy
Star Trek Femslash Week Fandom: Discovery Pair: Cornwell/ Mirror Georgiou Other Characters: Michael Burnham (POV) Word Count: 693 Rating: T Prompt: Enemies to Lovers Michael tries to keep Admiral Cornwell and Emperor Georgiou from killing each other... with middling success.
"This is not your universe, Emperor. You are not in charge here." Admiral Cornwell's voice is firm, confident, commanding, despite her small stature. Of course, the Emperor is a small woman too but Michael has already learned not to underestimate Philippa Georgiou in any universe.
"The only reason I am not in charge here is because I do not want to be," Georgiou counters. She doesn't move but her eyes flash dangerously as she holds Cornwell's gaze. "Send me home, and that won't change," she says casually, though not casually enough to fully obscure the underlying threat in her words.
Michael watches as the two women stare each other down, neither one willing to blink first. If not for her own Vulcan upbringing, she would surely be squirming in her boots. Instead, she makes an attempt at diplomacy. "Emperor, you only narrowly escaped a violent revolution in your universe," Michael reasons. "Surely you would prefer political asylum here rather than certain death there."
"I do not need your protection," Georgiou snaps. Her tone leaves no room for argument, and even though she is speaking to Michael, her dark eyes remain fixed on Cornwell's ethereal blue.
"My mistake. Next time I will let you die," Michael says coldly. Two (or rather, three) can play at this game.
The Admiral takes a few deliberate steps towards the Emperor who immediately counters and soon the two women are circling each other like rival lionesses preparing to pounce. "The resemblance truly is remarkable," the Admiral purrs, sizing the other woman up.
"I cannot say if you resemble your counterpart or not," the Emperor replies with a sneer. "She was never important enough to be worthy of my attention."
The Admiral's nostrils flare involuntarily and the Emperor's sneer turns into a wicked smile at the other woman's momentary loss of control.
"I wouldn't recommend ignoring me now, your highness. I just might be the only thing standing between you and an airlock," the Admiral snarls.
The two women have moved closer as they circled and are now mere inches apart. Georgiou appears to be sniffing Cornwell, like a wild animal. "So, dear Admiral, what do you plan to do with me?" Georgiou asks, leaning dangerously close to the Cornwell's ear, close enough that Michael fears she may try to bite it off.
"Oh, I have a few ideas…" Cornwell growls in response
Michael, desperate to keep the two women from coming to blows, blurts out the first thing she can think of. "The Emperor conquered the Klingons in her universe. She may be able to help us win this war."
Both of the older women freeze and then their heads snap towards Michael, eerily in sync. Cornwell looks surprised, as if she had forgotten Michael was in the room. Georgiou, on the other hand, seems fully aware that Michael has been watching and she narrows her eyes preditorily and bares her teeth.
"Specialist Burnham, your assistance is no longer needed. You may go," Admiral Cornwell orders, with a surprising amount of calm considering.
"I only-"
"Out. Now," the Admiral commands, point to the door for good measure as she returns her focus to the Emperor.
As the door slides shut, the Emperor gives Michael a self-satisfied smirk and a fluttering wave that puts a pit in Michael's stomach. She really hopes Cornwell knows what she's doing.
Over an hour later, Admiral Cornwell emerges to find Michael still hovering in the corridor. The woman is wearing a smug smile and looks surprisingly satisfied.
"Admiral, did you come to an agreement?" Michael asks, falling into step behind Cornwell.
The Admiral seems to have regained her composure and is all business again. "We found a way to work together. Any further details are above your rank, Specialist. Now, surely you have more important things to do than hanging around in hallways?"
"Yes, Admiral." Michael nods and falls back to allow the Admiral to continue on without her. It's only when she gets a clear view of Cornwell walking away that Michael notices the very un-admiral-like sway of her hips and she has to wonder: What the hell went on in there?

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 106 - Deep Cover within a Deep Cover
Star Trek: Discovery - Season 1 Episode 11 - The Wolf Inside
We open this episode with a monologue from Michael about her time so far in the Empire universe, and how the constant need to watch her back is effecting her. Additionally, we find out that this universe's Saru is a slave, which is sad to see, but for this universe's standards should have been expected. Also the use of a transporter as a method of execution is absolutely brutal to see.
Michael has managed to obtain the information on the Defiant, however cracking the firewall from the Shenzhou is difficult, and sending it to Discovery would be noticed.
Unfortunately back on Discovery, our crew has discovered the death of Colbert, and their immediate assumption is that in his current state, Paul did it. Sylvia has an idea to cure Paul's condition however, and takes him down to the engineering lab. Her theory is that the Spore Network is simply using all of Paul's physical resources to keep the portal between the universes open, and that a fresh dose of spores might wake him up, and she puts this hypothesis to the test.
On the Shenzhou, Michael has been given the location of the leader of the Klingon rebellion, someone called "The Firewolf" and is ordered to kill him.
In a private conversation with Lorca, Michael reveals that she is really hopeful that this rebellion could lead to a Federation like entity if it wins. It's even made up of the same mix of species as the Federation founders, just substituting Klingons for Humans. She is reluctant to go through with her orders. Her plan is to beam into the Firewolf's camp with Ash to negotiate. The pair are captured immediately after appearing, and are taken to the firewolf.
Apparently Sarek is among the firewolf's camp, and they refer to him as "The Prophet". Sarek performs a mindmeld with Michael, and sees the memories from the Federation Universe, and he clears any doubt about Michael's intentions. Michael, looking for advice on how to help with the war in the Federation universe starts asking the Firewolf questions, however a lot of the Firewolf's answers start to trigger Ash's sleeper programming, and a sword fight ensues. Sarek manages to break it up however, and continues to vouch for Michael.
Meanwhile on Discovery, Sylvia's experiment is having a positive effect on Paul, and moving the stress on his brain to some of his other organs, however it then goes wrong, and medical staff have to step in to stabilise him, but he goes braindead, albiet only temporarily. Once Tilly is alone with him, we get to see Paul's perspective inside the spore network, and we're teased with him encountering his empire universe counterpart.
Back on Shenzhou, Ash finally confesses as much as he can about his current state to Michael, and he starts to remember his true past. Apparently, he is a Klingong that was molded into a human and given false memories to infiltrate discovery. More specifically, he is the Federation Universe's counterpart to the Firewolf. He attacks Michael to avenge T'Kuvma, but the Shenzhou crew apprehend him, and Michael orders to have him Transporter Executed. As he sufficates in Space though, Discovery transport him aboard, and turns out this was partially a ruse to get the Data on the Defiant to Discovery. We're then hit with a final blow of another ship appearing to destroy the Rebels themselves, and we're hit with another surprise that apparently the Emperor is Georgiou, something which I really wasn't expecting.
I'm liking this whole corruption arc for Michael, and I thought the Ash twist was fun. It was nice seeing more of this universe, but I wish we could have spent a bit more time fleshing out the Rebels. Good episode, but I think the previous one was a bit better. Still excited to see where this goes now that the Emperor is directly involved though.

SNW and DISCO spoilers
so I watched the Una episodes of discovery with no other context. So it’s just the episode where they find the sphere and the last two episodes of season two.
they really go buckwild on this ship. Tilly is being eaten by fungus and no one tells anyone. Jett and the mushroom man get high and slap each other out of it. Also did Jett appear from the vents? Michael is having a family crisis. Saru asked his friend to help him commit ritual suicide and I think a part of his brain fell out. Also I didn’t know he spoke so many languages so that was cool.
they are so dramatic here. The shocked and horrified stares around at each other made the finale an hour long otherwise it would have been like 30 minutes. I expect this from Chris but good grief. The letters goodbye one bye one? Sarek and Amanda somehow showing up ahead of a whole fleet to tell Michael they love her? The sibling fight as the ship is being fired upon? (that one tracks actually) I like it for the big moments but are they always like this?? And is the “eyes up” thing a thing and why doesn’t Chris do it anymore?
I do like the found familyness I am sensing. The whole fam banding together to go with Michael was sweet. And their goodbye to Chris. This is the level of found family where I’d expect to find at least a few of those foster kid fanfics where they refuse to leave each other and the foster parents get six kids at once. I have not looked but I would be disappointed if there aren’t any.
Pike’s stepdad energy is so strong. The whole crew does what they want and loop him in when they feel like it. They are fine without him and have their own system and dynamics going on. He knows it, too, which is hilarious to watch from just knowing him from snw. He really just intervenes to keep his genius stepchildren from straying too far off the mission. They are running around like overexcited puppies (“the sphere is trying to communicate!!!!”) and he keeps them from gnawing on the walls. But he is a good stepdad in that he is ready to throw hands and use his ship as a shield so they can get away from section 31.
then as soon as he gets back to enterprise he brings all of the evil fbi apparently. Una is not surprised and has tricked out the whole ship and the shuttles for battle without prompt. She went Chris was out of my sight for too long we need to be ready to fight the galaxy.
and some more Una notes: Katrina Cornwell seemed tall and commanding until she stood next to Una and it was hilarious how small she was. Took me out of the dramatic bomb defusing moment but I still had fun. And Chris knew someone was going to die from that torpedo and got Una out as soon as he knew there were no other options. My pikeuna heart.
And Una choosing violence with the interrogation sent me. SNW fans know she has been hiding and afraid of scrutiny her whole life, and this is how she shows it. What a woman. She did not even tell them her name. Did we know she was Una at this point or was she Number One all the way until snw premiered?
“Follow the queen.” *Chris immediately looks at Una* I see you Chris.
it is obvious that they did not know how they were going to open snw with Chris being depressed and Una going missing but I liked their shock and happiness when Spock showed up beardless.
idk if I am intrigued enough to watch this whole show but I like Georgiou being their personal annoying gremlin. “Everybody hates you. Congratulations.” Also queen Po going if I die I die.
did not like Una going “in English please” to literally another navigator. We know she’s a genius let her be one y’all. If it were a science person going off a thousand words a minute I would allow it. But Una was talking to a pilot. Do better.
IN GENERAL, a good time. I was there for Una and she was not there much, but that was expected I guess. I was not prepared for how emotional discovery's crew would be. They are all in their feelings at all times. I liked them as a crew and maybe I will return one day.

Costa meets a young gardening couple who have created a habitat haven and productive paradise four storeys up.
City living offers many conveniences – but also many challenges for keen gardeners.
In busy Edgecliffe, right in the heart of Sydney, a rooftop garden overlooking a busy train line is the only space available to Philip Georgiou and Ian Belgiorno-Zegna, but they’ve still managed to carve out a productive, potted palace to enjoy outdoors.
“We’re really lucky to have this space,” says Phil.
The total area is 350 square metres – and 200 square metres of that is the roof garden. Some is paved and some has decking, but all the plants – from tiny succulents to olive trees – are in pots.
“I’ll use the herbs from here – we use the rosemary nearly every night,” says Ian. “Phil got me onto the native trees and I’m eating lilly-pilly berries now.”
Their Eureka lemon (Citrus limon cv.) tree looks really healthy. “We had lavender underneath, but we took it out and it’s really taken off,” says Ian. Costa agrees that’s a good move because lemons don’t like any competition around their shallow roots.
Costa spots a tumbler compost bin: “Because you can’t put in on the ground, this is really appropriate for this space,” he says. Turns out it was a gift from Phil to Ian for his birthday!
They’ve also joined the ShareWaste scheme after seeing in on Gardening Australia. They receive donations of other people’s garden scraps to make compost to use on their garden.
Costa checks out the compost and says moisture wise it’s perfect – he advises mixing it into the soil after clearing a crop or spreading it around crops, making sure to cover with mulch to stop it drying out and killing the useful microbes in the compost.
“Then that compost will perform all those feeding and water-holding roles.”
Ian and Phil are growing peas, silverbeet, carrots, rocket, pineapples, herbs succulents, cycads, cacti and plenty more.
They have done a lot of work to the roof area, which was all decking when they moved in. Some of the challenges include having to get an engineer’s report to check that the roof would sustain the weight of their many pots – the large cube planters weigh more than a tonne by the time they’re full of wet potting mix, and there are 13 of these alone, plus dozens of others.
Another issue was drainage – they had to make sure all the water would drain into one corner.
The pair loves native plants and have nearly 20 grevilleas, plus callistemon, eucalyptus and banksia. There’s also lots of edible produce that they use in the kitchen. Phil’s favourite is Grevillea rhyolitica ‘Deua Flame’, which has a pretty, pendulous red flower and bright green leaves. He loves them because they flower all year around and attract loads of bees.
They ask Costa about how best to prune a bottlebrush tree to reduce the size without hacking it too much. Costa advises trimming back the flower spikes after flowering. “That will keep it nice and dense,” he says. Cutting any dieback from the centre will also encourage more light in, and hence more shoots.
The row of larger native plants offers the garden some privacy from neighbouring buildings and a nice view from the sitting room.
Ian makes a rosemary sugar syrup to use in cocktails, so Costa presents him with a lemon myrtle bush (Backhousia citriodora) that he’ll be able to use for lemon-flavoured drinks, too.

Discovery S5E2 First Reactions
I've always been lukewarm on Discovery. This episode charmed me. Something I've long appreciated about Discovery is that it has continuously worked to address valid criticism without tossing overboard literally everything that sets it apart. I don't agree with every spicy Picard S3 take, but in spite of my enjoyment of that season, I felt a mild concern, if not irritation that what I liked about the series from its first two seasons was largely being ignored.
I've never had that sense with Discovery. With the exception of that utterly baffling episode where everyone started acting like Georgiou had redeemed herself without ever actually walking back her psycho persona significantly, Discovery has done a really good job of growing across all dimensions. The writing is more polished, the cinematography is excellent, the actors live inside their characters in a very natural way. There is nary a jar of eye drops in sight.
If this was pre-streaming era Trek with its 20+ episode seasons, we'd recognize this as the beginning of Discovery's third season. When Trek usually starts getting actually good rather than something with hokey charm.
And I'm actually kind of bummed this is its last season.
This was a nice "lore" episode. Lots of nice callbacks to bits and bobs of Trek trivia, but not overwhelmingly so.
I didn't see the twist coming with Raynor but I dig it. I liked Saru's observation that Burnham is "a force of nature." Like in previous seasons, Burnham's much criticized character flaws are acknowledged and overcoming them and working around them are part of the story, and handled quite well. Burnham is impulsive, empathic, and fiercely a creature of conscience. She benefits from having level headed people around her. Like Saru, whose arc throughout the series has been phenomenal.
Of course maybe I'm just a massive Doug Jones fanboy.
Culber doesn't seem like he's going to be a major player in this season, but he's doing good service as being the guy to deliver the good stuff, like "I asked how you were, not what you've been up to."
I'm steeling myself for a sudden pivot to the YA relationship drama genre next episode. I do have hope that given how everyone else is increasingly very natural in their roles and not feeling the need to oversell things, this will also be the case with Adira and Gray.
I recognize this is a loose end that deserves tidying up for fans of this particular relationship and I will endeavor to not be a spoil sport. Rest assured ready, its because I just don't like teenage / YA cringe, not because of the identities of the characters.
I'm not overly enthusiastic about Burnham and Book either. I've just never found it persuasive as an on screen romance, from a chemistry standpoint or character dynamics. It sort of made sense when Burnham was looking to leave Starfleet and as a sort of legacy of that time when having a sort of Han Solo type character as a partner made sense. But again, its just not my jam. They're interesting characters on their own, and it lowkey frustrates me that Discovery seems to think that romance is the primary way to do character evolution.
That having said, I maintain my promise to be seriously grumpy if anything happens with Saru and K'rina.
I am curious about what the MacGuffin will be in the end. I'm already assuming its another callback to TNG where everyone is hugely disappointed because its not the sort of thing that would radically shift the balance of power in the galaxy, but rather something more wholesome. Another message, the Progenitors' library: that sort of thing. A kind of passing of the torch where the Federation is kind of the new Preservers.

Fic writing asks: 1, 7, 40, 49, 51, 57, 72 (sorry if this is a lot, there were too many good questions in this one 🥲)
These are good!! thanks for asking, it's always lovely to be asked.
(thanks for waiting too).
Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?
Having time and energy to write is harder for me than the ideas, so I daydream often, and sometimes don't get to write it down at all. I love throwing ideas at people, that's so fun and rewarding, but that hasn't been happening lately. (if anyone wants to volunteer as tribute...I would love to talk about Discovery fic). I should 'ship less niche things but...the heart wants what it wants.
7. Post a snippet from a wip.
(from Michael gets pon farr)
Michael sat up on the biobed in one smooth motion, her attention focused on Hugh, then Tilly. It wasn't that she didn't recognize them - she knew them all - but she'd never looked at any of them this way. Her gaze stung when it found Joann, like Georgiou's had in the beginning. Michael was there, but she wasn't. Michael fought the hunger behind her eyes, reigned it in a little so she could smile at Tilly and shiver.
"It's worse, isn't it?" Tilly asked.
Michael's eyes lingered on Keyla for a moment, as if she was hungry. Her gaze brushed across Joann again, scorching as if Joann were staring into a hot oven. Then Michael found the president, and she stopped moving her eyes. Tilting her head, Michael took a step, then another, her motion sinuous and quick.
When she smiled now, all apology was gone. Joann had never imagined herself as having any kind of telepathic skill, but she knew what Michael wanted, and it was to rip the president's silken blue nightgown off with her teeth.
40. What is your favorite world that you’ve created for a fic?
I am really partial to "Beverly Crusher and Kathryn Janeway, get married, save the galaxy, get punished for using Romulans to help save the galaxy by getting sent to the most boring, least resourced, end of the line space station, and then have a couple kids there. They also have a cat. I spent so much time world building that one, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
I could do better now, but...you know, it was fun. Toreth is there, and she and Janeway are almost friends and there's a whole 7 seasons of a show that I didn't write but I know what happens. (somewhere). It would have been fun.
49. What fic of yours would you say is the best introduction to you as a writer?
Uncharted maybe? It's one of the best things I've written, just in terms of world building and feelings and actual thought that went into what I was making. It's definitely me at my best.
Me on an ordinary day is very... "In case of emergency please contact" (It's sick fic, the stakes are low, there's romance but it's subtle and there's a whole interlude where I get distracted by original characters).
Or migrations and other recurring phenomena, where there's some sex, some desire, but it's mostly dialogue and friendship and also very low stakes and nebulous.
Firefly is still the most just for me thing I've ever written, but it's really long, so probably not a good introduction.
51. Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read?
Other people can write things I am not good at, like fast plot, and snappy things, and I love the surprise of someone else's fic. I don't know what's going to happen, so even if it's the most similar thing to what I would write, I love it, because I don't know what is going to happen.
I write what I write because I'd like to read it, and there's not really enough of the soft floaty sort of things I love, so I keep writing them.
57. How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?
I don't do it often, I'm not the most intentional writer. I'm much better at dialogue, so sometimes I can make that work? Character says something that ends up being funny later or hints at something that ends up happening, but it's not a neat sort of symbolism. Would be cool if I used it better.
72. What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?
The most recent one, usually! I'm so honored when people read things I write and comment. I'd probably write them anyway, but comments feel like I'm writing something that matters.
Someone once wrote almost an essay about my character motivations, and that was really fun to read.
@aleksandrachaev has a real knack with comments. <3.
Comments make me feel loved and connected. That's fun.

DISCO: The Vulcan Hello
With so many new Star Trek series in production these days, I wanted to change things up a bit this time and look at how costume design has changed for a modern TV audience. Please note that, for obvious reasons, this article will contain spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery episode 1.
After a slog of Klingon rhetoric with too many sweaty close-ups, the first episode of Discovery throws us straight into a desert, where Captain Philippa Georgiou and XO Michael Burnham are geared up for the harsh climate.
Note the matching leather accessories for communicator and tricorder.
The fabrics look light and breezy, they have appropriate eye protection, and they’d probably blend right in if not for the phaser rifles.
Captain Georgiou believes in being prepared (to kick ass).
We also catch a glimpse of the planet’s natives, but as they (and their clothes) appear to be entirely CG, it didn’t feel right to include them.
Back on the ship, the USS Shenzhou (don’t get too attached), we get a look at the new uniforms!
And a new favourite character!
Taking a cue from Enterprise – the previous Trek chronologically – the uniforms are a gorgeous navy blue. This is accented with gold, silver, or bronze trim, denoting the divisions of Command, Sciences, and Operations, respectively.
And is that a pocket??
I adore metallic accents on clothing, and I think they look sharp as hell here, but they can be notoriously difficult to launder.
No wait, THAT looks difficult to launder.
Not to be outdone in terms of glamour, when we finally get a good look at the Klingons, they are bringing the drip.
This outfit cost more than your starship.
T’Kuvma’s armour has a cute little hint of a ruffled collar, perhaps in homage to Shakespeare, one of the more famous Klingon authors. I’m also a huge fan of the pointy ruby claws on the shoulder spikes.
How can you be angry while so bedazzled?
The other bald Klingons appear to have shown up to this party in their best chitin(?) or maybe targ leather? Either way, the look of the season on Qo’noS is “pinecone.”
Do you think Klingons own, like, t-shirts?
I also love the cute little peplum happening on Voq’s armour.
Girl, if you don’t have a waistline, make one.
The episode still has a few tricks up its overly-ornate sleeves, including some excellent Vulcan robes from none other than Sarek –
Nobody styles in a Dracula collar like Vulcans.
– and holo-Sarek, who may be trying to set a record for most popped collars.
It’s in his contract to only be filmed at this angle.
For a species whose planet averages 50°C, they sure do like floor-length robes.
Through the magic of backstory, we even get to see a tiny Michael Burnham being subjected to a Vulcan homework/torture pit, wearing – you guessed it – robes.
You gotta hand it to those Vulcan tailors, though. That’s a robe you can build a house on.
Things are looking good for new Trek!

20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written? 21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why? 22. Do you know how your fic will end before you start writing?
Thanks for the ask <3
20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?
Mostly I just choose song lyrics (or a word/phrase that is vaguely the right vibe to me) but I actually came up with four different real/good titles for The Half-Life Fallacy (thanks to @romeorevoarchive who helped me brainstorm). They were as follows:
The Half-Life Fallacy (The winner, basically referencing the lingering impact of certain events and how they never actually disappear completely.)
Star Thistle Summer (kind of a double meaning, both because star thistle is painful, stubborn and resilient, but also because it is one of those plants that will take over after a wildfire. It really just worked well both for the initial Blackout vibe but also the relationship dynamics/Matheson characteristics.)
Manzanita Blaze (Leaning more heavily into the plants/wildfire metaphor. Manzanita is one of those plants that uses fire to propagate, it's also a very twisty tree. It is double catastrophe that brings and keeps them together, no matter how wrong and impossible it should be on paper. It just fit them.)
Forks in a Circular Road (Learning into the sense of inevitability of where the fic ends up, and also the framing of Bass' narration. This is an AU where you can take a totally different path, but in some ways you are going to end up on the same road.)
I'm also pretty happy with the title of my most current WIP: The Backup, which ties into the many different uses of backup/back up:
Providing support, backing.
A secondary choice, being “on the bench”.
To step back, go backwards.
To rebound, recover, “get back up”
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
I used to really struggle with this, so I developed an alternative method, where I just cut/paste the problem section into a new document instead of deleting it. Sometimes a scene just isn't taking you where you need to go to get to the next story beat, sometimes it doesn't really follow from what came before, but it is hard to get rid of something you wrote if you actually like anything about it. Taking it out of the context it isn't working in without trashing it made it so much easier for me to recognize when that was the case. Putting it in a new document sometimes means it just sits there, but I have had times where I ended up using it as the seed for a new fic, and times where later on it turned out if totally fit in the same fic I wrote it for, just in a totally different part of the story.
Right now I am actually debating this for a section I have written for The Backup that doesn't really make sense following what I wrote before it. I'm still trying to decide whether it just needs to be later in the story, or it needs to be in a different fic entirely.
*Putting a sneak peak at the end of the post under a read more if anyone wants to look.
22. Do you know how your fic will end before you start writing?
I usually have an idea of where a fic is going to end up, though the path there is often either murky or not the one I end up following. For some "current" WIPs:
k'war'ma'khon: Originally was just supposed to be a little flash ficlet, but once I decided to move beyond that, the inevitable ending had to be Georgiou (and Sarek and the crew of the Discovery) rescuing Michael (or I guess Michael breaking free). However, I definitely didn't initially think that Spock was going to show up or have any idea how I was going to get Michael out of Klingon prison.
Dragon Marked: The eventual ending to this one is very epic and complex, involving reincarnation, magic, science, conspiracy theories, politics, and dragons. I actually brainstormed the plot (not the what plot ;-P) part out with my husband. There's a lot of ground to cover before that though, so who knows what might change.
The Backup: Being canon divergent but set during season 3 gives me some nice boundaries. The reader and I know who the Heart Rapist is already. That's not the question, the questions are about how Veronica and Weevil who are now on a different path because of what's gone differently will solve that mystery, catch him, but also how they will manage the ways their dynamic has shifted. This fic started from the desire to have both of those things go in a different direction than canon did, so the ending is where I started with this one.
As promised, a scene I don't know whether I will keep in The Backup of not:
“Does it ever feel like nothing you do actually makes a difference?” V asks, at the bottom of the stairwell of Mac’s dorm.
Only every fucking day , he thinks, but at the same time he’s pretty sure that’s not actually helpful, and he wants to help Veronica, even though it all feels pointless most of the time. So he stays quiet and waits for her to say more.
“The world is a shitty place and it doesn’t matter how many answers I find, how many bad guys I take down. There’s always another one. So what’s the point? Why bother? Maybe I should just say fuck it and stop trying.”
“That I’d love to see,” he shakes his head, pausing before adding, “Veronica Mars standing idly by. Pretty sure reality might fold in on itself if you stopped digging at every mystery and hammering at injustice, V.”
“Doesn’t make it any less crazy that I do,” she deflects.
“Maybe not,” he concedes, but if she’s crazy what does that make him? “But if it helps people, I would call that the good kind of crazy, and you do help people, Veronica.”
Giving up is the logical response to hopeless situations, but if he did that what would be left for him? What would be left of any of them?
“You want to know a secret?” she asks and he thinks, I want to know all of your secrets.
“Is that a trick question?” he says instead.
“Most of the time, I don’t care about helping people so much as making the bad guy pay. I’m motivated by vengeance and the lure of secrets, not the good that comes from whatever it is I find.”
“Most of the time?” he questions.
“This case is different,” she owns, something he already had picked up on.
“And that’s a bad thing?” he responds instead of asking why even though he wants the answer to that question like a smoker fiending for a cigarette.
“Maybe. Honestly, I don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine.”
Part of him wants to take this moment of uncertainty and push things a little, see if she would fall into his arms, turn to him for comfort not just security.
I’ve got you, querida, he could say, pull her close, one hand cradling the back of her head and the other wrapped around her waist. V seems so brittle and shaky right now and he wonders if there have been other times she was like this and he just didn’t know her well enough yet to see it: if he missed the clues or if she hid them better when he was a stranger.
This would have been easier, he suspects, if he’d seen that vulnerability two years ago, back when he was a gang leader and she was an outcast, and they were some sort of high school cliche. Back when she was an intriguing unknown.
But he didn’t see it then, and she’s not a stranger anymore, and maybe it is better they can both pretend he doesn’t see it now.
“Well then, my prediction is that you are going to take this asshole down and someone is going to erect a goddamned statue of you: Veronica Mars: protector of Hearst.”
“Okay, maybe my guess is better than yours, since that is totally not going to happen.”

Question 4 and 8 (interpret how you will) for the Star Trek ask
From: infant-rind
4. favourite alien species
its either the romulans or the cardassians, which is actually in itself a lie, it IS the cardassians, I will never not be cardassian trash, the most fleshed out alien species alongside the bajorans thanks to ds9, but the bajorans are interesting, the cardassians are sarcastic failed imperialists who refuse to go away, every cardassian is different in the best way and they all interact, their society feels the most developed, as a failed-state military dictatorship, it is the least planet of the hats star trek race, while also being SUPER iconic looks-wise. Also Garak is my favourite trek character and Dukat my favourite villain, and not only are they the species there are slurs about, there are two of them (cardis and spoonheads).
that said i DO like romulans. they're vulcans with personalities and horrendous government, another failed-state military dictatorship, whats not to like????
8. Which captain would you most want to serve under?
lets workshop this in real time because my singing teacher hasn't turned up for my lesson:
kirk - great age of exploration, regressive in terms of what came after, the sexism makes this a no. I like the uniforms but I don't really have the legs for the miniskirts. if they have a space historian they probably have a space economist, so I might get to elope with a space allegory of some historical economist, which honestly would suck as econs are not known for being hotties, though I'm sure me and space keynes would be very happy together.
picard - this is probably the boring answer, since you'd be on the flagship in a time of moderate peace, you'd definitely survive wolf 359, and likely survive the dominion war since the enterprise wasn't involved, cool missions, nice ship, awkward uniforms for a lot of it though.
sisko - it would be an honour, ds9 is my favourite and he seems a good boss who makes good decisions. this is definitely the correct answer. better uniforms. more option to wear terrible 24th century civvies. Likely to be the kind of place lieutenant cicak, space economist would end up working lbr, economics is more of a starbase job.
janeway - i would not want to be lost in the delta quadrant with limited replicators, also she makes absolute batshit decisions. Probably my favourite 24th century uniform though.
archer - he seems pretty fair but I'm not going to choose 22nd century over the 23rd or 24th. Also how do you fucking pee in a jumpsuit.
aos kirk - i'd be blinded by the lensflares AND the horny, sign me up. Uniforms okay. no need for an economist because this world hasn't been thought out enough, but that's okay.
georgiou - she seems such a nice captain I think it would be amazing to serve under her, as long as I got out before binary stars. uniforms aesthetic but jumpsuits are a no.
lorca - statistically you gotta serve under a bad captain of the week at some point, and at least he's only really around for maximum six months. Also he's hot and amoral and makes really terrible decisions AND at some point we'd end up in the mirror universe and we'd have to wear THAT uniform. but it would be better than the jumpsuit
pike (disco variant) - he's so good at being captain even when the disco is a trashfire of epic proportions, 23rd century me would have requested a transfer to the enterprise asap
saru - absolutely not, saru is a terrible captain.
burnham - I would be terrified to serve under her but I'd also have made some bad decisions in my life to be 1000 years in the future. The uniform does get better? but also it still sucks.
rios - complex, I love la sirena but rios doesn't have crew. captain rios of the stargazer??? I choose not to accept picard s2 as canon.
freeman - cerritos actually would be excellent, I would HAPPILY serve under freeman. good uniforms. chill ship. dominion war over. pre-romulan crisis. fun times, important work that's not too important, canonically statistically the horniest ship in the fleet.
pike (snw variant) - OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN what a time to be alive. Amazing uniforms. Minimal sexism. back to back hotties. Good command decisions. Musical episode. Exploring!!! period of peace following brutal klingon war. enormous quarters. sign me up.
shaw - you know what, I WOULD serve under shaw, shaw is a good captain who got absolutely clusterfucked by picard, riker, baby picard, and seven, the titan-a seems like a nice ship, and I'm old enough I wouldn't get borg semened.
seven - ditch baby picard and I'm there. even if the enterprise-f is fuck ugly. the uniforms are good, turn the lights on, lets have some fun.
tldr: sisko, pike (snw), freeman, shaw, picard (tng), lorca

Discovery Season 1 Episode 9-
Episode 9-
Listen, you never plan to retire or to tell your husband you're going to be able to do whatever he wants after this one last mission/jump. That's when things go wrong.
Time travel or alternate universe? Find out next time!
Episode 10-
Time for a character roundup! on the axes of interesting and likeability...
Lorca- Interesting character if a little cliche, unlikeable. 9/10
Burnham- Interesting character, likeable. 10/10
Saru- Interesting, undecided. 7/10
Tyler- I don't think I like him much. 5/10
Tilly- Not particularly interesting, but likeable and relatable. 10/10
Georgiou- Interesting, likeable, badass, but -1 point for being dead. 99/10
Admiral- Not particularly interesting yet, but has potential. Undecided. 6/10
It's interesting that they have evasive maneuver patterns... It seems like a waste of a good pilot's instincts. The way that the captain has to decide which pattern to use, relay it to the pilot, the pilot has to recall what motions to take for that pattern, and then enact it feels like it would take precious seconds that might be better used in a "It doesn't matter what you do as long as you do something" reaction.
Alternate universe it is!
Michael's hair is always excellent.
Man I knew there was something still shady about Tyler. Fuckin Manchurian Candidate. Dude is not ready to be doing any of what he's trying to do. "I need you to trust me." No. You can't trust yourself, how are you going to expect anyone else to trust you? Tyler and Lorca both, man. Making decisions to protect themselves that can (and certainly will) put others in danger.
Hey Terran Empire, that's the same as the Enterprise's alternate universe.
Hah Tilly's captain. Talk as little as possible. That might be a problem.
And then Lorca does a Scottish voice for the Engineer. :joy: that a Scotty reference?
I like the way they actually show the tech that (as far as i know) got handwaved in other shows. The change of the Discovery's designation by robot, the synthesizing of uniforms and ranks. It makes it feel more scifi vs scifantasy.
Heh they specifically test for Manchurian/brainwashing stuff.
The weird half bob of Tilly's is... interesting.
Damn that was a line... "If you talked to me like that I would cut out your tongue and use it to lick my boots."
OH SHIT. That's not cool! You can't kill the gays.
I don't like the gender neutral 'sir' and I'm not really sure why.
Aww that was the guy I liked? Connor? I didn't recognize him :joy: I didn't actually look at him for long before he died the first time.
lol Tyler and Michael fucking while Lorca gets tortured. Way to make it quick, y'all.
Episode 11
Oh no... they're going to think that Stamets killed him :(
Is that Starfleet assigned/synthesized lingerie or is it Empire? :joy:
Sparing Saru from knowing his counterpart is a slave who waits on her in this universe. :sob:
(I just realized that where Enterprise was bloodless and nobody was Really Dead, I had no hesitation to believe Culbert was dead.)
They changed the way Andorians look (and sound) too?
I don't... I don't know if I don't like this thing with Tyler because he's not convincing? Or if I don't like the arc itself? I'm not sure.
Now that's an interesting moral quandary. The easy route is to let the Terrans execute him- he's a threat and a murderer. But is it 'right'?
UNBURY your gays.
Heh... I called that one. beam him out just in time to beam him aboard the Discovery. Oh nice, she got the chip out too! I didn't see that one coming.
Ha! The Emperor. I kinda figured (how could it not be if Burnham was captain of Shenzou and they wouldn't say who the emperor was), but man what a gut punch for her.
I forget where to put it now, but the Defiant... is that the one that the mirror!Enterprise found in that docking bay? The time fuckery ontop of the parallel universes has my head spinning, especially since I wasn't closely watching ENT.
Episode 12
I didn't like the mirrorverse episodes of Enterprise- they were both too dark for the show they were in and yet not dark enough to be believable.
I do like this arc, though. It feels like it has the right weight and other than the Tyler plot, it feels believable and consistent. The characters are interacting with the world in consistent, believable ways. Maybe it was because in Enterprise, we were watching actors in different characters?
Fixing Stamets and the only way home while also pretending to be a bloodthirsty captain is a lot of pressure for a cadet.
omg. Have my ganglia :joy:
idk why I forgot about what happened to Voq. I guess I assumed he died.
I was trying to figure out why they couldn't pick between turning Klingon into human or overlaying the Klingon personality into Tyler, but I guess I misunderstood. They overlaid TYLER ontop of the Klingon turned human. Man that's complicated.
How weird it must be to hear the man you loved died... from him.
UNBURY THAT GAY.
Ew- a father 'turned more'?
Oh what the fuck. Ok this one I didn't see coming. Wow. I'm impressed. His ruthlessness. His pulling the puppet strings of fate. The light sensitivity. It's rare that I don't have an inkling of a well-designed twist. Well played.

DON'T FUCK WITH ME - Chapter 21
Part 1 - Naylan
I don't know what has gotten over Mavis but whatever it was, was simultaneously making me happy and suspicious at the same time.
I had planned to wake up a bit earlier so he wouldn't fret about us cuddling in our sleep but when I did wake up, we were still tangled together and Mavis was awake.
Staring right at me.
My mouth has parted to say words but when he leaned in to kiss my forehead before muttering...
"Good morning."
I just concluded he had lost his mind and I shouldn't try to snap him out of it.
"Err..." I trailed, not too sure what to say.
"Good morning?"
I wasn't too sure of myself.
Maybe there was a script I was supposed to be following?
Was Mavis in his right mind or was he play-acting something?
He smiled at me, closing his eyes a bi, and I watched his chest rise and fall with every breath before closing my eyes too.
We stayed in bed together until the alarm I set for eight in the morning went off.
"We should take a shower and get ready. Leigh tends to call guests out for breakfast at ten," I explained when Mavis' eyes peeled open before they started towards my vibrating phone on the bedside table as his brows knitted into a frown.
I sat up in bed, before reaching out to grab my phone and turn off the alarm.
"I'll take a shower first. You can sleep. I'll wake you up when I get back," I said, putting my phone away before getting up on my feet.
"How about I join you?" Mavis asked, sitting up in bed.
"Hmm?"
"Join you in the shower. It'll be quicker that way, right?"
My face warmed up at the thought of that.
The bathroom was small and there was no way we wouldn't be pressed up against each other.
Again, what the hell came over Mavis?
"I... w-what?" I ended up blubbering.
I know that I had suggested sex yesterday, but that was keeping in mind that it would happen later, sometime in the distant future.
I wasn't sure how I felt about staring at a naked Mavis in the shower.
Mavis sighed, getting up from the bed before going to grab the towel he had used yesterday that was draped over the coat hanger by the door.
"I'm coming along with you," he said, not giving me an option this time.
I nodded, watching him open the bedroom door before slipping into the corridor.
I grabbed my towel, following behind him.
It seemed that Adyen had gotten up earlier than us because I could hear him chatting with Leigh below the stairs.
I could hear Georgiou too, so he must have gotten home sometime early in the dawn.
I didn't have too much time to think about that, because Naylan had slipped into the bathroom and I hurried behind him.
At first, I wasn't sure what I expect but Nayland hanging up his towel before proceeding to brush his teeth wasn't something I had imagined.
"Are you just going to stand there?" he asked after spitting into the sink and turning up the tap.
"N-no..." I trailed off, hanging up my towel too as he rinsed his mouth.
I grabbed my toothbrush, forcing myself to look away as he took off his clothes.
It didn't help much, since the smell of him was just as embarrassing.
He smelled like the woods... like a perfume made of bark and clean fur.
It made my stomach tie up in knots.
And I didn't notice when I had stopped brushing and was just staring down at the porcelain sink.
"You know, you don't have to wait for me to be done, we can share," he said, making a tingle run through my spine as I snapped out of my thoughts.
"I'm fine," I managed to get out my lips.
"I can wait," I added, rinsing my mouth without turning to look behind me.
The sound of the running shower was the only thing filling the void until Mavis sighed and the sound of the shower tape being turned off bounced off the tiled walls.
"Naylan, do you hate me by any chance?" the question came out of nowhere, and it made me frown.
"What? No."
Mavis sighed again.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," I said, turning for the first time since Mavis got in the shower.
He hadn't pulled the curtains over the glass walls, so I was met with his naked figure.
He was built like I had expected... toned stomach, toned legs and the deep oblique dip.
My mind fogged for a bit as I thought of touching him but I regained control of my senses quickly shaking my head.
"I don't hate you. Why are you asking me that?"
"Well..." he trailed resting his head on the shower glass.
"You've been acting a bit strange."
"I'm the one acting strange?" I asked, looking at him as if he'd lost his mind.
"Are you sure about that?"
Mavis seemed to consider what I had said.
He licked his lips, letting his gaze fall to the floor.
"I admit that I've been a douchebag since we've known each other," he said, before looking up at me.
"I don't want it to be that way anymore."
I wanted to ask him what he meant by that.
He was being vague and it was frustrating.
Did he mean that we'd be more friendly?
Did he mean that he was going to try and treat my feeling with more respect?
Or maybe... my face warmed up at the last option.
'No.' I thought to myself, shaking my head.
There was no way he wanted to date me or acknowledge me in that way.
He'd made that very clear.
"What do you want from me?" I asked him, taking off my shirt and then my shorts.
"You're not fucking with me, are you?"

It is a character in Star Trek: Discovery, which appears in the Prime Universe (the original universe in the Star Trek universe) and the Mirror Universe (mirror universe/parallel universe), respectively. In other words, there are two people named Philippa Giorgio.
At the beginning of Season 1, he appears as the captain of the USS Shenzhou. As the direct superior and mentor of the main character, Michael Burnham, she cared for and trusted Michael as if she were her own daughter. However, during the Battle of the Binary System, which sparked the Planetary Federation-Klingon War, she tried to capture the Klingon leader Tikubma alive. Her Philippa's death left a great shock and guilt to Michael, who proposed the operation to capture her alive.
Later in season 1, she appears as the fearsome Emperor of the Earth Empire, who has conquered the Mirror Universe, where she meets Michael. As the rebellion breaks out, buying Michael time to escape, she fights like an emperor at the same time and goes to the final battle alone, saying she will die, but is dragged into the Prime universe by Michael to live a new life for her. In Season 2, she acts as an agent for Section 31, Star Fleet's secret intelligence agency, subtly helping Michael behind her back. In Season 3, she and the crew of the Discovery cross over to the 32nd century, she gets a time sickness and she gets off by going alone to another time zone. She appears to have dropped out to appear in Star Trek: Section 31, which was supposed to be made into a Star Trek: Discovery spin-off TV series (eventually decided to be made into a movie rather than a TV series).
For reference, the real name of Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius in the mirror universe is Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius, where Iaponius means Japanese in Latin.[1]USS Shenzhou While serving as the captain of the Vulcan Ambassador Sarek, he accepted Michael Burnham, Sarek's ward and adopted daughter, as an officer.[2] Philippa and Michael worked together at Shenzhou Lake for 7 years, building deep trust through mentor-mentee and mother-daughter relationships, not just superior-subordinate relationships.[3] Michael displayed very good abilities and became a first mate, the equivalent of a second captain, within seven years of his commission, and Philippa was even thinking of promoting Michael to captain sooner or later.
However, when the Shenzhou ship went on a mission to a binary star system on the border of the Planetary Federation, she encountered Klingon ships that had not been in contact with the Federation for nearly 100 years. Looking at various circumstances, Michael judged that the divided Klingons were trying to join forces and start a war against the planetary federation, and insisted that the Klingons be preemptively attacked to prevent an all-out war. However, Philippa opposes the preemptive strike, which goes against the spirit and rules of Starfleet. Then, Michael thought that saving Philippa and the others was more important than Starfleet rules, so he stunned Philippa with a nub pinch and tried to strike first. However, Philippa soon wakes up and puts Michael in a brothel for mutiny on board.
Shortly thereafter, a merciless attack by the Klingons destroyed much of the Shenzhou, killed many crew members, and sunk or inevitably self-destructed other Starfleet ships that had come to assist the Shenzhou. Knowing that she cannot defeat the Klingons in a head-to-head fight, Philippa contemplates committing a suicide attack by charging into the Klingon ship with a small spaceship carrying a nuclear warhead herself. However, when the Klingons attack, Michael, who was presumed dead, appears after escaping from the stockade [4], claiming that an all-out war can only be prevented by capturing the Klingon leader Ti Kub Ma alive. He then infiltrates a Klingon ship with Michael to capture Tikubma.
However, he is killed while fighting Tiku Bma on a Klingon ship. At that time, Michael ran to the collapsed Philippa to take at least Philippa's body. However, Saru, who was on the Shenzhou, judged that even Michael could be in danger, so he hurriedly sent Michael, so Philippa's body was not taken by a narrow margin. In Episode 4 of Season 1, it is revealed that the Klingons have eaten what was left of Philippa's body.
Michael is sentenced to life imprisonment and imprisoned for attacking his superior, Philippa, attempting to seize command of the Shenzhou, and inciting a war. However, only six months later, Gabriel Lorca, the captain of the USS Discovery, said that Michael was needed to develop the spore drive, and Michael was qualified as a scientific expert to board the Discovery.[5]

Considering that, by First Contact Day, they're gonna be almost through Picard Season 3, I wonder if there'll be an announcement of a new series (maybe the official "active production" announcement for the Georgiou spinoff).
I mean, they've said that while Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, and Strange New Worlds have all been in active production, they don't want to add another plate spinning, but... Picard's wrapped and won't have another season after this, and the episode around FC Day will be like seven of nine ten (I couldn't help myself).
So that'd be a good time to start hyping up the prospect of a new series. Like they could have a series name reveal with an official logo and maybe some voice over lines for First Contact Day, then an actual cast reveal or something of the sort come September, and potentially a release for sometime in early 2024.
Look, I'm genuinely interested in Georgiou appearing again, and I'm still of the belief it'll happen - Michelle Yeoh is in demand, you think Paramount WOULDN'T want her at the lead of a series on their streaming platform? And she seemed eager to return to Georgiou after the character's departure - remember, before the pandemic turned everything pear-shaped, before the initial lockdown and shutdown of production, the expectation was that this would be the show that would go into production instead of SNW. So they've got ideas bouncing around, and a desire to do it from the lead actress. it's a matter of getting the production happening. The biggest hangup on that front would be her schedule, but I still think it's gonna happen.

Looking at just the live-action Treks …
I think Picard and Chakotay could hit it off talking about archeology, then leave together. Probably to research the remnants of a long-dead species, but, hey, it counts.
Riker could canonically pair nicely with Janeway or Kira, though I honestly think he could be drawn to Rios and be utterly entranced by Rios’ mix of seriousness and chill. Like, you gotta drag Rios to the bar (after telling him to put a feather in his hat) but he’s gonna have a good time once he’s there, and I think Riker could like the challenge and rewards of that.
Disco has had a lot of turnover in this department, but going with the OG of Burnham as XO and Georgiou as captain (and with Burnham and Spock fastidiously ignoring their own sibling at this party), I could see Burnham and T’Pol bonding on Vulcan stuff, then moving forward from there. Meanwhile, Georgiou has just met Kira Nerys and would have to be dazzled, right? Georgiou (from what little we saw of her) seemed to value found family and truly listening to those we care about, and I feel like Kira might somehow sense that other kindred soul who prefers peace but isn’t afraid to fight for the people and ideas that are important to her.
Oh, and Sisko and Pike could pretty much immediately start swapping recipes and planning a hoseback riding trip through rural Louisiana (or Bajor). Camp stove included.
And what about Raffi? Raffi is brilliant, charming, and smarter than Starfleet. She’s principled, yet skilled at calling in favors when she needs to (particularly to help other people). Sound like anyone else we know? So, yeah, Una and Raffi might even be the first to pair up because they could look at each other from across the room and instantly recognize intelligence and sass tempered with sadness and secrets.
Oh, and Janeway and Archer could leave together so she could commit war crimes (affectionate) and he could commit war crimes (derogatory), though sadly neither knows about Sisko’s war crimes (canon).
Which leaves Spock and Kirk who were honestly too wrapped up in their three-dimensional chess game to notice the rest of the party, so they can go home separately (or meet someone on the animated side of the bar) to be able to plan their next move — which I think both canon and fanon can agree should be "queen to king's level one.”
It’s a Trek captains and XOs swingers party and each person has to leave with someone new — not their usual command partner. There are no wrong answers to the question: What happens?

Ah, fuck it. I said I wasn’t going to watch Discovery because of some personal Dumb Reasons but every time I try to watch just a clip or two for SNW references I end up watching the whole damn episode so I guess I’m going to watch Discovery and we all know what’s going to happen.
#do I have time for a new obsession no no I do not#but I guess this could be considered just a new subspecies of the trek obsession#the burnham and spock wonder twin save the galaxy thing feels meh#but I think I will enjoy literally every other character#ignore me#georgiou looks like a good time#anxious redhead and aquatic Doug jones also look interesting#st:disc
