A Force of Nature - Earthrealmers x GN!jedi knight!reader (scenario fic)

in which the force is with you and your loved ones

a/n: thank you! you're such a sweetie pie~~. however, please be thoroughly disappointed with me as i have never watched star wars before :D

warning(s): excessive fluff, bits of angst, post-story

[i just love Ashrah. also note that it's still GN reader, but different personality types. if it doesn't have a personality, assume it's just normal]

Johnny x shy!reader

- Johnny's the type where he'd ask you to use the force for little things

- "honey, could you hand me my script over there?" he once asked as you two were sitting on the couch in his house

- dearest gentle reader, the script was next to you on the side table where you sat

- you scold him for his laziness, but he just crawls to you and slaps a small kiss on your cheek. who could say no to that?

- Johnny's also the type to show people your powers, kind of like a kid going to his parents with a "watch this!" you're rather shy, not completely introverted, but you kept to yourself and the family and friends you did have

- during one party, he asked you to toy around with his clapperboard. another party, he asked you to pour yourself a cup of alcohol with your powers

- it made you flustered with all the attention on you, but Johnny always made sure you weren't overwhelmed. Hell, he'd even stop people from asking you to do more if you just looked tired

- but your favorite memory was spooking Kung Lao during a "heroes only" party, where you got to meet his other-worldly friends. Johnny whispered to you the plan on how to poke fun at Kung Lao, and you focused all your energy in lifting his hat high enough so he wouldn't reach

- you got the empress and her sister laughing, and you also got a rare smile from the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei as you kept your powers in play to tease the monk

- Johnny and you would practice dueling as well, using his katana against your lightsaber as you the metal and powered crystal slashed, clanged, and sparred

- Johnny should have realized that your saber would melt the metal, almost burning his hand in the process as he dropped the handle and watched the metal melt into the hardwood floor

- still, you loved Johnny with all your heart and might

Kenshi x confident!reader

- working with Kung Lao and his ego was one thing, falling for someone with confidence that could rival his was another

- it pained Kenshi that your ego was sky high, but it was a feature that charmed him. that, plus your undeniable beauty, mastery over your sword, and your genuineness with others made him fall hard

- he was reminded of his friend, the illusive director Johnny Cage. however, just like Johnny, you were as good as your word

- kenshi would definitely test his might against yours: telekinesis, sword sparring, hand-to-hand combat, and more, he would want to hone his skills with yours

- he would introduce you to his friends at the OIA, meaning only Jax Briggs. still, meeting him was a delight

- speaking of powers, you two would practice your telekinetic powers together. albeit, using the force was much different than actual telekinesis, but it didn't hurt to learn from him

- he would teach you how he uses his powers to hold his sword, teach you how to control your migraines, and prolong your usage of it

- and just like how Kenshi struggles with horrid visions and nightmares, he would help you with yours. the visions you'd see in the middle of the night, horrible images of your beloved friends and their mutilated body parts, or permanent visages of their horrified faces. it marred your confidence, but his support makes it better

- kenshi would definitely introduce you to his sword, Sento. he'd introduce you to his ancestors, and you wouldn't be surprised that they liked you. you roll your eyes and flick your head proudly, preening in the compliments

- kenshi loved you, and whatever whispers he heard from his ancestors he got, he ignored. he wants a future with you, no matter what it took

Kung Lao x grumpy!reader

- despite your icy exterior and agitated nature, you loved Kung Lao. and despite his arrogance and ego, he loved you

- Kung Lao is the type of guy to use the same battle tricks while sparring, then be surprised when you utterly defeat him

- a good example came from when he learned how to teleport after throwing his hat, to which you stopped his frisbee hat with the force and cornered him with your saber

- "I have been working on this move for too long!" he complained, "How can you beat me so?" you shrug and point out the flaws in his battle tactics. while he looks unmoving to your advice, he takes it well as you teach him ways to elevate his movesets

- Kung Lao also aided you in your own training. Hand-to-hand combat was something a little new to you, but you kept your annoyance at bay as he taught you basic martial arts

- sometimes, your grumpiness would get the best of you, and you shook the poor man to his core when you chucked your lightsaber right next to his head, the hot energy almost marring his face

- he insisted he was fine, but you, in a rare face of vulnerability, shared to him that your anger was your hubris- that one day you'd go mad with all of this power on your shoulders. Kung Lao hugged you, insisting he was okay, as he shared a similar story he was in regarding his pupil

- when you two weren't in a depressed mood, Kung Lao loved to bet with you. similar to Raiden, he'd often end up on the losing side, but when he did win, he'd as you to use your powers for petty chores

- once, Kung Lao asked you to use your telekinetic side to sweep up all the autumn leaves on the Academy's grounds. another time, he asked you to alter an initiates' memory so he would go do his own chores

- when Liu Kang got wind of this, he punished you both with month-long chores; and you didn't talk to him for a whole month

- despite all of his flaws, you knew he loved you so. and despite the thick wall of ice his hat couldn't cut through, he knew he had melted it and wiggled his way into your heart

Raiden x introvert!reader

- sunshine boy and the shy girl is a trope that not many can master

- however, you and Raiden made it work to the best of your abilities

- Raiden would be by your side whenever you asked. you were fine by yourself, but his presence seemed to be a joy to you

- he would train with you in pairs only. you wouldn't train with anyone else, especially with Kung Lao

- Raiden would be the most attentive to the side effects of your force powers. migraines? hot tea and soup is on its way. physical exhaustion? his talented hands will work their way through every knot and tightness in your body

- Raiden would also train with you to control the rage and anger that would manifest and bubble in your mind. the force affects your moral compass, but human nature is a force itself. unlike other masters and jedi knights, you were new to controlling this

- you remember one instance where you were practicing your telekinetic powers on him, using it in a spar to try and grow your stamina with it. you caught him in a choke, but your hearing grew fuzzy as you held him higher from the ground

- it wasn't until Liu Kang and Kung Lao took you down did you see the severity in your actions

- you almost snapped Raiden's neck

- you retreated to your room and began to disassociate, diving into your thoughts to try and get away from the situation. he burst into your room, though, and slowly approached you with warm words

- "Do not talk," he said quietly, "I am not mad, (y/n), it wasn't your fault."

- you cried in his arms, something completely out of character for you as he cradled you

- "We'll work on it together," he sweared solemnly, "I promise."

Ashrah x redeemed!reader

- Ashrah knew what the path of absolution meant to her, so when she saw you on the same journey, she was overjoyed

- you once used your powers for the darkness of the world. only when your family died in the aftermath of a battle did you realize this endless war was useless

- you found a home in Earthrealm, and you found your heart in Ashrah. however, prejudice and distrust was human nature, and it often got to your head

- Ashrah would definitely meditate with you. you introduced it to her when you explained that your powers needed intense mental fortitude. now, you two do it together as a hobby and way to bond

- Ashrah would also spar with you, her kriss not melting in the heat of your saber. she would also give you tips on how to improve your stance and hits with her own wisdom and knowledge

- Ashrah would also protect you from the prejudiced minds of the other monks. not Raiden or Kung Lao, they were peaches. Ashrah would reassure you, tell you that your change of heart was seen by the aforementioned men and Liu Kang

- "Prove your worth with action," she would say as she planted a kiss on your forehead, "That is the only thing you can control."

- Ashrah would also comfort you during your awful nightmare and visions of the future. her sympathy and warmth was greatly appreciated as you told her of the unpleasant visions you saw

- "I fear my absolution is going nowhere," you confided with her once

- she shook her head, "Your perseverance is seen by our creator himself," her fingers intertwined with yours, "Together, our fight for purification and forgiveness is strong."

Liu Kang x reader

- Liu Kang would probably be the one best equipped to understand and deal with everything about you- powers or not

- he would for sure go above and beyond to treat your physical exhaustion after training 'til failure with your telekinesis. he'd have a bath ready, filled with warm water and aromatic candles. or, he'd have loads of food waiting in your quarters after spars

- when your migraines came in full force, he'd massage your head with his skillful fingers, rubbing some scented oil on your temples to try and soothe the ache

- Liu Kang would spar with you too. He'd teach you how to incorporate martial arts and kombat into your stacked move set. for everything you mastered, you'd receive a kiss on the forehead, head, or lips

- when the days were good, you would use your telekinetic powers to play pranks on him

- you dropped a book next to him while you were in his study, you blew the fallen leaves in his face once as well

- when it came to fighting your demons of rage and fury, he'd quell these spouts with kind words and patience

- during a session where you were practicing mind manipulation, you had gone too far and began to manipulate his memories to a time he thought he'd forgotten- his previous timeline

- it pained him to see such memories, but he knew it wasn't your fault- the animosity and furor had bubbled over a bit too much

- when he snapped you out of the bout, you'd be on your knees sobbing and begging for forgiveness

- "There is nothing to forgive," he would say softly as he held you, "We can stop for the night and rest- whatever you choose, dear."

Geras x extrovert!reader

- Geras does not mingle with mortals or any race of beings that his creator made

- you, though, were a different story

- as loud and personable as you were, you showed softness and kindness that Geras never thought he'd see in a person- like, really see

- Geras is alien to basic human emotion. he can feel it, since he is alive, but it's hard for him to express it

- Geras would spend time with you through sparring. during the nights where the training grounds were empty, you two would fight til you were breathless

- another thing I see Geras doing is just watching you spar with others. during visitations with Liu Kang, his eyes always found your bubbly person, conversing and laughing with your fellow Earthrealmers

- if he got unlucky and he saw you seeing him, he'd be dragged out by you so he'd talk to them too

- unfortunately, Geras is still learning how to actually use his emotions with you. as mentioned before, he has it, it's just hard for him to express it

- one instance would be during those awful emotional bouts with your visions. horrid images of your friends and allies getting offed one by one. instead of consolation, he'd get to work with the hourglass, skimming through the past and future to try and find something to help change the outcome

- "Rule breaker, huh?" you teased him

- so much warmth and love oozed from his voice as he responded

- "for you, I would bend the rules. for your happiness, i am obliged to break them completely."

Bi Han x innocent!reader

- despite his anger and frustration, Bi Han do his darnedest to never take it out on you

- your power was strong, and Bi Han respected that from you. he did his best to accommodate for you and made sure you were performing at your best

- Bi Han would have attendants at your every moment, offering water, towels, or other things to make sure you were at tip-top shape

- despite such power, you were oblivious to the rest of the world. Bi Han did his best to protect you from the people who tried to take you from him, to protect you from the corruption that plagued your every corner

- Bi Han would be the type to spar with you away from prying eyes. not because he's jealous (he totally is), but because you get anxious with watchful eyes

- Bi Han wouldn't be able to console you with words. instead, he would just let you hold him as you talked to him about your visions or nightmares. his secret favorite thing was when you got overstimulated with telekinesis, and he'd just cuddle you as you feel asleep

- when the negative emotions occasionally broke free, Bi Han dreaded having to take you down. it chipped away at his heart as he had to fight you and snap you back into reality

- "I don't recognize myself sometimes," you cried in his arms after one of these bouts

- he hugged you tightly, a chill breath you felt on your shoulder as he spoke

- "As glaciers are unmoving in the ocean, I will always ground you. I will tell you who you are and where you are- from now to eternity."

Kuai Liang x angry!reader

- being together with Kuai Liang was good for you, body and soul.

- body-wise, compatible in bed, warm to the touch, and always around. soul-wise? he gave you discipline, reminded you what you were fighting for, and gave you peace

- because of your anger, Kuai Liang was extra patient with you when it came to sparring. he knew that your jedi powers could be affected by the swaying of your emotions, so he made sure to not say anything out of line

- when your anger got the best of you, Kuai Liang would talk to you slowly about what happened. whether your saber almost hit his head, or you almost choked an initiate to death, he would do his best to calm you down

- your favorite thing to do with him was eat. energy was depleted almost as quickly as it came for both of you, so you two found that having meals together would be good bonding

- there were moments where your anger got the best of you though. one horrible memory was when you took Tomas up with your powers and played images of his family in his brain, altering his perception of what was in front of him

- your anger had exploded that day, not sure by what, but you took it out on poor Tomas

- when Kuai Liang got a hold of you, you fought his grasp and hold. but as he told you where you were and what happened, you ran away from him and Tomas, shutting yourself away

- "I don't want to live like this!" you cried inside of your room. Kuai Liang heard you from the outside and knocked, signaling he was present

- "Whatever it takes," he said from the outside, "Whatever it takes to see you free from those shackles- I will do it for you."

Tomas x reader

- you and Tomas were the certified cinnamon rolls of the Shirai Ryu. smiling, happy, you two were the initiate-acclaimed "perfect couple". Harumi and Kuai Liang once spoke about it as well

- Tomas would definitely initiate spars with you, but he'd focus more on hand to hand combat than anything. as he would say, "you may have a glowing crystal saber, but what happens when it's not there?" he'd prepare you for the worst scenarios, and your ability to overthrow him during each one was impeccable

- Tomas would ask you questions about your powers- and I mean lots of them. ranging from silly things like "can you move my brother's kunai?" to "does it ever overwhelm you?" the range in which he switches from question to question gave you whiplash sometimes, but it was welcome

- Tomas would totally keep you on your toes with the whole telekinesis thing. he isn't so stupid as to throw a katana or anything sharp, but he'd toss a ball to you, food, even sparring weapons (the ones that were made of wood). you figured it had to do something with his own trauma, y'know, the whole "losing your family and having to adapt in record time" thing.

- speaking of telekinesis, Tomas would definitely give the best massages period. whether on your head for migraines, or on your body from exhaustion and fatigue, his fingers would work their magic expertly. if he weren't a ninja, he'd be one hell of a masseuse

- whenever you were having your episodes due to your force side effects, Tomas did his best to use little force on bringing you back to reality. if he was caught in your anger episodes, he would beg Harumi and his brother to not hurt you as you held him up in the air. when you were done, you would avoid touching, seeing, even hearing his voice near you. it would be too painful for you, but Tomas forgave you over and over again

- there was one memory that pained you the most, one where you altered his memories as you were training to master them. you showed him a memory of his slaughtered family, especially the part where he was hauled away by the Lin Kuei. the guttural scream that erupted from his mouth from that memory terrified you, and you ran away again

- when Tomas found you, tears were in his eyes as he softly egged you on

- "Darling, please look at me," he sniffled. "Look at me, I am not mad at you."

- you just hiccuped as you scooted away from him, "I keep losing control, Tomas. What if I can't stop it next time? What if I hurt you worse than this?"

- Tomas is crying at this point, tackling you into a hug so tight he was afraid you'd disappear. You just held him as your own tears fell down.

- the usually talkative brother was quiet, his sobs doing the communicating. that, paired with the way his hand would roam your back and waist, as if he was making sure you were still here, made you realize something much more

- he didn't care whether or not he got hurt by you. as long as you were still here, alive, breathing- that's all that mattered to him.

- scars and trauma can heal with time, death is permanent

List of my top ten favorite Yokai from Yo-Kai watch in order from most to least favorite or something idk

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Thurston: I love everything about him! Like, when the game first came out I literally wrote pages and pages of Wattpad-style fanfiction about him with so many different characterizations, to the point that his different interpretations split off into two separate OCs who I still have to this day, who I then shipped him with along with his other two versions, Draculadoji and Shutencaesar. I was very normal about him.

Tattlecakes: I also love her design, she seems so friendly and sweet, plus I love an old lady character who can still kick your ass. When I wasn't writing about Thurston getting shipped with himself, I was writing Yo-kai Watch Blasters found family fanfiction where Thurston and Tattlecakes meet with other yokai while trapped in a dungeon and then they bond while trying to escape together.

Jibanyan: Yeah, he's the mascot character, but he's the mascot for a reason. He's got a strong personality, he's funny, has an amazing backstory that never fails to make me cry no matter how many times I watch/play it, was really cool in YKW Shadowside, and serves as a perfect foil for whisper's tomfoolery.

Rattelle: She's an icon, a legend, a fashionista, and so much more. I adore her design, and would love to cosplay her someday, and she has enough presence in the games to where she has a fairly established characterization as sassy, confident, and style-savvy. If archaeologists ever find my bones, they won't even be able to misgender me because I'll be serving 100% Rattelle.

Usapyon: He's a perfect companion and foil for Hailey-Ann, I love the twist that he's an otter, and not a rabbit, and he's so cool, funny, and cute at the same time. His backstory was genuinely so bittersweet and it makes me cry whenever I revisit the third game. Also, space and Star Wars reference.

Shutendoji: I love him, from his story about the fall of the Oni tribe's rule and trying to bring back the original ruler, to his relationship with Douketsu and Shuka, and all the stuff in between that I can't quite call to mind right now. I hated him in Shadowside though, he felt like a totally different character. He also looks cool.

Foiletta: You would think she's a mean girl until she helps you put a curse on your cheating ex, also she was super helpful during my first run of Yo-Kai Watch 2.

Mermother: Gorgeous, powerful, has the 10/10 best soultimate no notes.

Whyvern King: If I'm being honest I mostly like him because he looks like Great Value Thurston.

Fukurou: He's my poor little meow meow. That's all.

i get a lot of my fic recs from other friends since i don't really go out and search on my own all too much for this fandom. but there are lots of great works out here! i will be listing out some of my favorites :3 mostly hc but a couple general mcyt ones that i think are an excellent read no matter what. all of the fics i'm listing will be genfic without ships!

also i just realized a lot of my bookmarks are grian-centric which is funny i guess because i am admittedly quite picky about content of my other favorites and grian just tends to have the most content in the fanbase. hope that'll be alright

hermitcraft longfics:

the last days of the free angel of carrows by @theminecraftbee - loved stuffed bird? here's another great longfic by second! this one is about joe and cleo in an urban fantasy mystery setting. again, second writes our beloved hermits into an captivating au!

leaping and hopping on a moonshadow by @lunarblazes - a fantasy au by luna my beloved! pearl suddenly gains magical powers and goes on a quest to find her long-lost friend grian who might know what's happening to her. she meets a lot of familiar faces along the way!

Recall by @redwinterroses - hey, i was the artist for this one! :D mumbo goes missing, so grian and scar search for him. they find that grumbot has been up to some... things along the way. the fic isn't finished but i think the chapters red put out is worth a read if you don't mind leaving off on a cliffhanger because it really is super interesting

dramaturgy by wormcity - a universe where gem and pearl join in a season 7 that was never finished. mumbo became the mayor, but the turf war went so very wrong afterwards. admittedly i have not finished reading this yet because ummm short on time xD but it's super interesting with a lot of layers of drama(turgy hahaha)!

hermitcraft short fics/oneshots:

for trying. by @autistic-evil-xisuma - a stuffed bird universe oneshot of x and xisuma during their lab days. great if you want to be sad over the doomed brothers again :D

the wheels on the bus by sparxwrites - a hilarious post-s8 oneshot about grian being a little shit towards the watchers. one of the first fics i've read from this fandom and i still love it

a body is an object by ruffboi - grian is a mimic, and pearl's arrival in s8 shakes him up. she hasn't seen him in a while and is quite upset to learn that the grian she knew died a long time ago. a great read for familial connections and conflict of friendships!

Goatman and the Rift by TheDepressedCanary - doc's eldritch powers start acting up when the rift appears. what shenanigans will ensue?

other mcyt fics/crossovers:

late at night, when the stars don't look quite right by @lunarblazes - an excellent empires s1 and hermitcraft crossover longfic, where grian lands into the server and is discovered by pearl! very great worldbuilding and relationships, i especially love the dynamic between gri and pearl and pearl and gem :D

every new discovery is just a reminder by amaranthinecanicular - grian begins pulling alternate versions of the hermits from the life series into the server. he does save a lot of them, but at what cost? it does end on a cliffhanger but this is genuinely one of the most captivating oneshots i've ever read... argghhh

The Fair and the Brave and the Good by @slashmagpie - an afterlife smp longfic centered around the shelby, scott, and sausage. i have never watched afterlife smp before in my LIFE and this is still one of my favorite pieces of literature ever. the characters and worldbuilding is impeccable and perfect if you like something dark with themes of hope and renewal.

Two Can Keep a Secret (If One of Them is Red) by anonymous secretmcblog - a 3L oneshot! ren suspects grian has stockholm syndrome with his pact to stay with scar, but his expectations are wrong. a truly excellent read and one of them first fics i've read! i still go back to reread it from time to time

dog at the door by fluffy_papaya & iamsolarflare - a longfic where doc and ren take a trip on a van on their way to s8. ren, however, is not quite himself, and doc has to learn to befriend the red king.

devil town is colder in the summertime by @bananasofthorns - a oneshot from a 100hsmp/life series d&d au! team BEST ventures into a cursed evil fucked up forest. uh oh.

Interview with the Aftermath by @ranchersrevenge (wanderlasts) - the last life contestants are invited for an interview. the responses vary greatly.

stars, smoke, and stolen car keys by wormcity - a 100hsmp modern au oneshot where grian, scar, and joel go on a hike. it doesn't go quite as they expected.

the beehive state by amaranthinecanicular - a dsmp oneshot after wilbur moves to utah. tommy visits him, and the two reconnect. i have to say i stopped following dsmp a long time ago but this fic made me BAWL. i don't even think you need to know any of the characters that well to really enjoy just how amazing the writing itself is

Can't Go Back (This Time) by @duckmumbo (musicaltvbooks) - soup group goes end raiding and accientally finds themselves in afterlife smp. nothing goes wrong, surely! also admittedly i havent finished reading this either but roy i swear i will. this is a great read nevertheless and the soup group dynamic is impeccable!

TommyInnit's unbeatable method of avoiding sudden death by eneliii - on the train of dsmp fics, this is the superhero au longfic that inspired my own hc superhero au, vdhau. it's a lot of funny shenanigans with tommy and his friends. the fic does take a dark turn at the end, but that can be skipped entirely (as said by eneli herself) if you just want the wholesome aspects.

Star Wars Legends Highlight of the Week: “You showed up for your wedding day with a blaster?”

In this feature, a fan will share one thing they love from Star Wars Legends - a book, a comic, an author, a character, a scene, an event, or anything else they want to highlight – and tell us more about it.

Today’s Legends highlight is an arc from the 2013 Star Wars comics run from Dark Horse Comics, in which Leia Organa attempts to get the Rebels a new base by agreeing to marry the crown prince of Arrochar, and we’re talking with @lajulie24.

Tell us about your Legends highlight. What is it? What’s it about?

My highlight is part of the “Rebel Girl” arc from the 2013 Star Wars comics from Dark Horse Comics. The overall arc starts in issue #12, where we first hear about Arrochar, but the main parts of the arc are in issues #15-18, where things come to a head. The arc is set about a year after Yavin, and Leia comes back from a private mission and announces that the Rebels have been offered a base on the world of Arrochar, a planet in Hutt space, in exchange for Leia agreeing to marry their crown prince. Everyone from Mon Mothma to Han Solo to Wedge Antilles to Luke Skywalker is pretty dubious about this idea — Luke being the worst, and getting grounded by Wedge because his sulking is making him do a lot of reckless things during flight exercises— but Leia already feels extremely guilty about Alderaan and about recent losses, so she’s ready to go through with it.

Basically things start looking pretty shady on Arrochar from the jump, and Leia is not really happy about what she’s about to do, but she’s preparing for the wedding when the palace is bombed and a group of Star Destroyers shows up! Turns out one of the royal advisors betrayed the crown prince and has been courting the Empire the whole time (unbeknownst to the prince, who genuinely was into Leia and was sad that she wasn’t really into him). Luckily, Leia in fact did bring a blaster to her own wedding, she and Mon escape, Luke quits sulking long enough to defeat the trap he was lured into and escape with Han on the Falcon, and the Rebels’ new ion cannon saves the day.

What makes this a Legends highlight for you? What do you love about it?

Like many of the comics, this arc is a little bumpy for me — the quality of the artwork is a little uneven from issue to issue, with Leia getting some pretty weird expressions at times, and I do get annoyed that so often Leia’s plot lines tend to be things like “Leia tries to get needed resources for the Rebels by sacrificing herself” or “some fancy rich guy wants to marry Leia”, both of which are present here. But there are several things that make this arc enjoyable despite that, including:

1. Leia fixing X-Wings in her tank top my beloved (this also very much annoys the royals of Arrochar because she’s not proper enough for their tastes, also earlier in this series Leia is regularly flying an X-Wing in combat, so lots of great pilot Leia visuals)

2. Han and Wedge both talk with Leia about her decision and while they respect it, they don’t like it (as evidenced by a gritted-teeth conversation between them before the wedding) and have each tried to let her know that she doesn’t need to do this for the Rebellion, that’s she’s done enough for the cause.

3. There is some gentle future HanLeia ship teasing throughout, including a few scenes where it’s clear Han’s preoccupied with someone and it’s definitely not the attractive fellow contractor he’s been working with (she notices that he’s distracted, and that it’s not about her).

4. There is a brief moment where we learn that Red Squadron has just been approved to use the “Rogue” designation, i.e. the beginning of Rogue Squadron here.

5. And of course, Leia does in fact bring a blaster to her own wedding, which she gives to Mon Mothma right before using her hand-to-hand combat skills to fuck up some guards (and obtain a new blaster in the process).

Basically, I enjoy that it’s centered around Leia, that she shows off her flying, mechanical, and combat skills, and that the people around her actually value her for those skills and feel like she deserves so much more than to be a bride in the court of Arrochar.

How I feel about this character

i think cal may be my favorite character in all of star wars. jedi fallen order literally means so much to me and i think about JFO as like one of the best stories star wars has told. its shockingly earnest and genuine and unflinching. cal is such a compelling protagonist and i will defend him until the day i die.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

tbh i'm not. a huge shipper when it comes to cal. since playing survivor i think merrical is super cute, but tbh there's no ship i'm super dieheard about.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Listen, in an alternative universe they rescue Trilla and Bode never betrays Cal so they're a chaotic bestie group.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Perhaps my hottest of takes but I don't love the direction they took Cal's character in survivor. In JFO there's a ton of emphasis on Cal being vulnerable, him learning to open up and trust. He's gentle and kind despite the horrors he's been through. And it felt like they just...swapped a lot of that for generic macho star wars hero and I didn't like that. Also I didn't love his whole flirting with the dark side thing. Felt antithetical to his entire arc.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

LET CAL MEET THE OTHER JEDI SURVIVORS YOU COWARDS!!!!!! LET HIM MEET KANAN AND AHSOKA!!!!!!!!!!

Since I am revisiting this ship thought I would share the ficlet that inspired the ship that is now, and probably always, my second favorite Aric ship (because @cinlat's Fynta and him are number one, but we use different skins so it's like a different character haha).

It's also 1 hit away from 600 so that exciting and they deserve to hit that milestone.

Summary: Aric wasn't surprised to wake up alone after spending a night with a turned Imperial Intelligence Agent. What did suprise him was her complaints about his dishes.

Aric wasn’t surprised to wake up alone. He woke up alone most days, so it wasn’t an unusual occurrence, but then most nights he went to bed alone.

That could not be said in this case.

No when he went to bed, or more accurately, fell into bed he was in the company of a Chiss woman who was as beautiful as she was deadly – the way an Imperial Intelligence Agent turned spy for the Republic should be.

While a small part of him was sad to wake up and find his bed occupied only by himself, he wasn’t going to admit that. He still wasn’t sure why he had let this happen, the last person the XO of Havoc Squad should be sleeping with was an Imperial Agent, former or not. The idea of the damage she could do with access to the information stored on their ship was chilling, and it made him grateful he had brought her back to his seldom used apartment for the privacy instead.

Despite the obvious reasons it was a bad idea to get involved with Naadia, Aric couldn’t help but feel immensely satisfied. It had been several years since his last relationship and he wasn’t usually one for one-night stands. Last night had scratched an itch he had forgotten he had.

If there was one bright spot to her being a one-time enemy, he didn’t have to worry about her wanting more than he could afford to give at the moment. With his recent promotion, and the war breaking out again there wasn’t time for a relationship in his life. Her life as a double agent, reporting critical Imperial data to the SiS couldn’t have been any less hectic.

That didn’t change the fact that he wished there was time for it. It wasn’t a desire he ever voiced, one he rarely thought of, but a mate and children? Those were things he genuinely wanted in his life.

The sound of his bedroom door opening interrupted his musing about what a child that was a mix of Chiss and Cathar might look like. He sat up in surprise, his blankets pooling across his lap when Naadia poked her head in the room.

“Hey, where do you keep your gravy boat?”

Aric stared back at her, unsure if he was more bewildered by her presence or her question.

Frowning at his silence, she stepped into the room properly and he could see she had taken one of his shirts to wear. “Aric,” she asked, her accented voice soft with concern, “are you alright?”

He shook his head with a huff before looking up to meet her eyes. "I thought you'd be gone by the time I woke up.”

Naadia smiled at him, “if you slept much later I might have been. I can’t dally about all day you know.”

“And you want to know where I keep my…” his voice trailed off as he tried to remember what she had asked.

“Gravy boat,” she supplied helpfully.

“I don’t own a gravy boat.”

She gave him a scandalized look, “no gravy boat? But… how do you serve gravy?”

Aric pushed the blankets back and got out of bed, pulling his pants on before padding across the room to her.

“This may be a surprise Naadia, but I don’t ‘serve’ gravy. Why are you asking?”

“I’m making breakfast, and part of that breakfast is gravy. Therefore, I want a gravy boat, but I suppose I shall have to serve it like a heathen.” The combination of her serious tone and the ridiculousness of her statement made him laugh.

“I can’t help it if I raised to do things properly,” she snapped but he could see in her face she wasn’t actually upset. Her smile was a dead giveaway.

With a final chuckle, Aric set his hand on the top of her head, dragging his claws lightly across her scalp. She hummed happily at the feeling and he looked down at her with a faint smile.

“You made me breakfast?”

She nodded, leaning her head farther into his hand, “I did, and it’s ready if you are hungry.”

Aric stared at her for a long moment, considering her carefully. He had truly expected her to be gone by now, not making him breakfast, dressed in one of his shirts and practically melting at the touch of his hand. That she had done all those things was throwing him for a loop.

But that didn’t mean he wasn’t appreciative of her efforts or the glimpse into what could maybe, someday, be. Maybe it could be with her, maybe it wouldn’t, but for one morning it was far too tempting to pass up.

“So,” Naadia said, poking him in the stomach, “are you hungry?”

“Starving,” he answered.

A week later he found a package on his bunk, one none of the crew saw delivered. There was no return address, just the words "for next time" written across the top. He already suspected it was from Naadia, but after he opened it he had no doubts. Who else would send him the fanciest gravy boat he had ever seen?

Ezra x Jacen’s Nany Reader

Hear me out….. there’s NO WAY in the galaxy that Hera leaves Jacen with only Chopper, I repeat CHOPPER as supervision… that droid has committed war crimes on a daily basis as a form of entertainment, simply because he could.

Sabine has been to busy being a part-time jedi apprentice, and looking for a way to bring her idiot best friend/brother Ezra back home to their Mama Hera..

Kallus is simply too busy as a stay-at-home dad raising his horde of Lesat cubs, while his hubby Zeb is busy working as a part-time recruit trainer for the New Republic..

So.. what’s a VERY pregnant Hera to do when she comes across a young girl, who happens to be the same age as the Son she had just lost, in the streets of a still recovering planet after the fall of the Empire? Watching as the girl gently tends to the sick and injured that others seemed to ignore.. all while this child is clearly malnourished and weak herself.

Surprise bitch, you just got adopted by the coolest Mama in the Galaxy..

Aside from helping Hera around the Ghost with chores, making sure the ship’s baby ready, and studying (because Hera wants to help her new kid after clearly observing her passion for medicine) she eventually becomes Jacen’s teacher and basically the family’s personal Doctor.. (and I mean the WHOLE family.. Zeb tried to avoid his annual check-up once.. wasn’t happy that Kallus ratted him out and basically tricked him into Reader’s office)

The main draw back that Reader seams to have in her personal life though??? Her severe case of “Resting Bitch Face” nobody seems to show any interest in her, and only her adopted family seems to not be bothered by it.. she even tries to do things to make her face less intimidating.. constantly being aware of her facial expressions and doing her best to keep her eyebrows slightly raised and a slight half smile on her lips…

Then Ezra comes back… and you bet your ass as soon as the crying, hugging, lecturing and overall emotional reunion is done.. Hera is dragging Ezra by the ears to get a FULL check-up by the most trustworthy doctor she knows.. and Jacen is happily tagging along, holding his “big brothers” sleeves while waiting for him to meet one of his favorite people.. the outcome is… somewhat unexpected.. Ezra trying to be charming and calling Reader’s “serious face” cute..

And Reader being genuinely flustered by Ezra’s awkward attempt at flirting…

Jacen.. is getting ideas, and Chopper is going to help him because CHAOS WILL RAIN!!!

……. and he’s got years worth of pranks to pull on Ezra.. might as well start now.. 😉

As she walked through the streets she didn’t fail to notice a young girl, helping the people in need.

Her way with the injured and sick was more then just gentle.

Despite her own visible weaknesses portrayed by a weak body.

After each treatment she only left them to treat the next one if they reassured her that they’re fine.

„Thank you so much y/n, wouldn’t know what I’d done if it wasn’t for your help“

Said an elderly woman, truly a heartbreaking scene even if this girl was a complete stranger to her.

It didn’t take her long to approach the girl, she waited for her to finish the treatment on another injured citizen before she started to talk, startling the girl on front of her.

„Hey there..“

The girl turned around and met her eyes with the stranger, her gaze was shocked at first but soon turned into one of adoration as she looked at the pregnant woman in front of her.

„H-Hey..!“

„I‘ve been here for a little while and couldn’t help but notice your way of helping your people… could I ask you a question?“

The girl looked up to the green Twi‘lek while nodding a yes.

She didn’t know how to form the question since it was a rather personal one and let’s be honest.. they didn’t talk yet.

However, this planet belonged to the ones with the highest death rates, seeing the poor girl alone here, weakened and injured.. where were her parents?

„Do you have a family here?“

As if she saw it coming the girl nodded a no, a sad expression laying bare on her face.

The Twi‘leks heart ached for her.

She just lost one child, seeing another one, assuming at the same age as him.. it was too much to just stand by and do nothing to help.

„Would you like to become part of my crew?“

y/n looked up at her, not fully believing her ears yet.

„Are you serious..?“

„Yes“

And just like that a huge smile appeared on her face.

„Of course I’d love to!“

The woman returned y/n‘s smile and offered her her hand.

„Name‘s Hera“

„Name‘s y/n“

A few months passed by from the moment where you firstly walked into the Ghost.

The ship wasn’t the biggest but oh force, you’ve never felt more at peace then when you got to enter your cabin.

The ship was cozy and it even had a medbay!

Hera then decided to inform you about the other crew members and their activities.

That’s also the reason why it was so empty.. however.

Soon you were able to meet everyone, except one boy who Hera told you was missing.

Sabine grew the closest to you (after Hera and chopper ofc).

Even if her timetable was loaded with Jedi training stuff, you two always managed to spend some time together.

Zeb worked at a part time recruit trainer for the New Republic while Kallus stayed at home, making sure that their horde of Lesat cubs wouldn’t destroy everything.

Chopper is Chopper.

There’s nothing more to that since we all know how he is.

There’s no way that Hera would’ve trust him enough with her still unborn child.

Soooo.. with Kanan gone and Ezra missing, there’s only one person left who she’d trust enough with her baby.

You.

You were studying medicine, something you wouldn’t be able to do without Heras help.

She became something like a mother role for you and ohhh my goodness where our excited for the day the baby would be born.

She didn’t have to ask you, couldn’t even since you started to turn the ship into a baby safe place.. at least the most possible version of this since it’s a spacecraft after all .

Hera was moved to tears, seeing how much effort you put everyday to ensure her baby’s safety while everything that Chopper did was to mess with your stuff.

Yeah you were the right choice, no doubt in that.

„Hey, could I ask you to do me a favor? But before I tell you what it is, just know that whatever you’ll answer is allri-„

„Yes I want!“

„What?“

The woman was too stunned to speak.

„But you don’t know what I’m going to ask you..?“

„If I want to take care of your baby right?? Please tell me that this was your question???“

There was a spark of excitement on your voice that made Hers heart to flutter.

She didn’t know if it were her hormones or her (for now) clouded judgement but she immediately hugged you, fighting back some tears.

„Thank you..!“

Some years passed by and thanks to Heras help, you were able to actually get an official status as doctor.

That wasn’t your only ‚job‘ tho. You were also a part time nanny for Jason from the moment on he was born.

Being the most trusted person available on the ghost pushed your ego, making you think that you can perform both of your ‚jobs‘ at the very same time.

It did make some things harder for you, but it was her baby after all, he was worth it.

People who knew about your story would say that you’re literally shining in comparison to your state from when before Hera found you.

Others at the other hand were kind of scared off by your resting Bitch face, not showing any interest towards you.

Your new family didn’t seem bothered at all by it, not even Jacen, but you still gave it your best to improve your facial expressions.. they never faded tho.. .

So when the day arrived where the boy called Ezra returned, Hera instantly had an assignment for you.

She and basically everyone of the ghost crew used to tell you stories about him, how he made the ultimate sacrifice to safe his crew and Lothal.

Ten years had passed since then, since his disappearance and since you’ve been as good as adopted by Hera.

The days after the big news.. we’ll it’s safe to say that you never saw her this emotional in your entire ten years.

Not even when she was pregnant with Jacen, and this is a statement.

You weren’t there when he arrived since you had some patients waiting for their treatments, but you soon found out about the happy news when Hera called you through your comm link.

And not long after you heard her knocking on your door, dragging an middle aged man by his ears, while Jacen tagged along, holding him by his sleeves.

She asked you if you could take a look at him, a very good one since he’s been absent for like.. I don’t know… 10 years?

Yeah, sounds reasonable.

„Please do a FULL check-up. You’re my most trusted doctor on this galaxy.“

„Of corse Hera, well then Ezra.. Please take a seat.“

He freed himself from Heras and Jacens Grasp and went to sit on the special chair.

Ezra seemed to be excited about the technical stuff that surrounded him.. you’d be too if you’ve been stranded in the middle of nowhere for a decade so.. .

„We’ll wait outside, just tell us when we should come“

Said Hera and with that she and Jacen left the room, leaving you and Ezra alone.

„Okay then.. how are you feeling? Are you injured? Sick?“

Knowing how Important he is to Hera you tried to somehow neutralize your „special“ expression.

And he seemed to notice this, you barely knew him and he already started to change his attitude around you.

„No, I‘m totally fine“

He had a grin on his face while you raised your eyebrow at his answer.

„I still need to take a look at you so-“

He already started to take his shirt off, I mean he didn’t have to, just you her push it slightly upwards but you weren’t complaining.

Nope.

Not at all.

But you had to keep yourself professional.

„Why did you take your shirt off?“

„For the check-up..? If I’m not wrong that’s what patients to for the lung part?“

„Ah- Yeah sorry. Yes, ehm, thank you“

You checked his heartbeat, his lungs and everything you could do at the moment.

There was one thing that concerned you.

Not his health since it was in a good state.

But the way how he made you feel.

You tried to keep a straight, neutral, friendly face while looking him up, but he made it impossible for you.

„You’re cute“

„What?“

Your movements froze for a short while, this kind of comment was unusual.

„You’re cute. You know.. the way how you try to keep your face straight“

„You’re serious?“

„Yep. Why shouldn’t I be?“

He was charming, handsome, kind, you only knew him for a very short time. Like for real. But there was something positive around him.

And it flustered you.

Unbeknownst to you two, a very curious Jacen was leaning right against the door, squeezing his ear as close as he could and boy did he smile when he heard Ezra talking to his best friend.

„Jacen, you know that it’s rude to-“

„He told her that she’s cute“

He whispered, loud enough so that Hera understood him.

And her face lit up.

„He what??“

„Shhh.. come here and listen“

This private moment, at least to your knowing, made you happy.

There was finally someone who immediately found interest in you, someone who wasn’t blinded by your facial expressions or your attempt at looking natural.

Weeks passed by and he turned out to continue to be as charming as he was the day you met him.

His genuine, true, loving self made you fall im love with him and the same goes for him with you.

Hera was happy to see how both of your presences affected each other for the better and Jacen was sure that he was destined to play your matchmaker.

And chopper didn’t let this chance go by.

Jacen wanted to help his best friend and his big brother and Chopper had years worth of pranks to pull on Ezra.

Chaos will rain

And even if Ezra had warned you that he sensed that something would happen, nothing could ever prepare you for what was to come.

It was a peaceful day at your office.

Your last patients for today waited in the waiting room and Ezra was one of them.

Hera didn’t leave him any other choice then to go and get frequent check ups from you just in case that he really didn’t catch anything on Perridea.

His frequent check ups became known to Jacen and Chopper and they saw the perfect opportunity in this to pull their first prank on you two.

Jacen hid behind the shelf with a music box while Chopper disguised himself as something fitting to his surroundings.

They knew that you’d welcome him into your office with a hug, your relationship witch him had gotten better and better and Jacen didn’t fail to notice this.

Knowing this was the base for this prank.

As Ezra neared himself to open the door to your room, opening the door and greeting you, Choppers mini metallic arm reached out and electro shocked his leg, making him loose his balance and fall straight into your eyes.

The pose you found yourselves right now was more then unexpected as his fall took you by surprise.

Jacen then didn’t waste any more time and played on the ‚play‘ button of the music box, playing some semantic song which seemed to be popular.

Chopper then took a photo, beeped some things and left the room with a grinning Jacen as fast as he could.

Your patients where beyond confused at the scene and went to your office to check if everything was alright.

As you saw them looking you two up and down… your face became the deepest shade of red known to humanity.

Ezra’s too.

This ‚incident‘ may have helped you two to get closer but you were still shy about it.

Jacen and Chopper however had other plans and lets just say that this was just the beginning.

PJO characters as moodboard’s and my opinions on them🫶 (not including the gods)

Major spoiler warning!! ⚠️ ⚠️‼️‼️

I tried to include every character I could/could think about at the moment + from the wiki.

Character development ratings are for how well I think their character development was in the story with everything we’ve been given in PJO and how they’re portrayed with this development.

The overall rating is my genuine opinion on how well I think the character was written overall and how they were handled in the story.

Percy Jackson

A bit biased considering he’s the main character but I love his relationships with people around him. How he always jokes around even in tough situations (but only when it’s needed, not unnecessarily joking). And his sarcasm in the books feels like he’s telling us a story that he knows everything about. It makes the story feel more at home and open rather than being in an outside perspective viewing in. It allows the reader to become immersed with the story and feel how the characters are feeling.

Character development: 10/10

My rating overall: 10/10

Luke Castellan

I honestly really liked Luke’s character development as a whole in the series, seeing how he felt betrayed by his family and how he didn’t have a sense of home or anybody to rely on. And how he loved Annabeth for so long but she didn’t love him in the same way at the end. How he was never able to see his father and never got any support from Hermes at all, how his mother went insane and how he ran away from home to camp half-blood.

Character development: 10/10

My rating overall: 9/10

Zoë Nightshade

Zoë’s my favorite character by far in the entire series, just showing how she knew she was going to die on the quest but went anyways truly shows her courage and determination to stand up against her father Atlas. And the way she asked Artemis if she did good made my heart shatter. And I love that she lives in the stars now by the moons side with Artemis. Just knowing she can rest now after what I’m guessing is thousands of years of hunting with the huntresses and seeing her friends die again and again. Now knowing she can finally be free and safe in the afterlife.

Character Development: 10/10

My rating overall: 10/10

Silena Beauregard

As I think about it I start to like Silena’s character more, how she joined Kronos as a spy because of her love for Charles. How she is the daughter of Aphrodite of all of the gods and is swayed to do something she doesn’t want to do because of love. How she comes in to fight pretending to be Clarisse because she wants revenge for Charles and gets to see him again in Asylum. How the entire reason she became a spy was for her love for Charles and the fear that he would get hurt if she didn’t join Kronos as a spy. And how she was considered a hero afterwards because of her actions in the battle.

Character development: 9/10

My rating overall: 10/10

Charles Beckendorf

Though he wasn’t shown all that much in the actual story he was a good character in theory, how he sacrificed himself to sink Krono’s ship. How Silenas love for him created her into a spy and lead to him dying as a result even if she was promised he wouldn’t get hurt. And he’s now safe in Elysium with Silena being happy together.

Character development: 10/10

My rating overall 9/10

Nico di Angelo

From the start of his arc’s I personally didn’t really like Nico until the war. I also enjoyed the plot point of his misplaced anger for Bianca’s death and the betrayal against Percy because of his father. Though I didn’t like how much of a ‘villain’ he was portrayed as because he was a child of Hades. Just adding to the fact he felt misplaced and was used by Mida’s ghost for leverage against the other mortals

Character development: 9/10

My overall score: 7/10

Bianca di Angelo

I felt like Bianca was a sort of throw away character in the series and was only really there for Nico’s story in the books. Since she died so early on from being introduced it felt like she was just used for plot development instead of being created as a genuine character who wanted to live with the huntresses. Being that the first quest she went on she died. Though I do love to see the sense of community and family she finally gets after joining the huntresses for the first time and how she finally feels accepted in her life.

Character development: 3/10

My rating overall: 5/10

Annabeth Chase

Honestly Annabeth isn’t one of my personal favorites though she’s pretty high on my list, she’s written as being witty, sarcastic and serious with a sort of soft side to her. I like her development with her parents in The Titans Curse and how her parents treat her (I say parents as her dad and step-mom. Not Athena) and also in The Titans Curse I like her development with when she meets the huntresses and almost joins them. Though decided not to because of Percy.

Character Development:8/10

Overall Rating: 9/10

Thalia Grace

Thalia had a lot of good development before she joined the huntresses, though I do think after she left the tree she acted like she knew more than everyone else in a sense? Though I do like her general character and her choice to join the huntresses of Artemis after Bianca and Zoë passed on.

Character development: 9/10

My overall score: 7/10

Clarisse la Rue

Clarisse was a really good character in my opinion, being all rude and rugged to Percy but treating Annabeth like a sister, comforting Silena when Charles died and staying by Chris’s side when he went mad later forming into Chris calming Clarisse when she was upset or just generally being a good boyfriend towards her. Clarisse is rough and tough though she has a soft side towards certain people like Annabeth, Chris and Silena.

Character development: 10/10

My overall score: 10/10

hmm genuinely difficult to answer i writing love angst <3 i think for me it might be try not to breath, because it just feels hopeless (or that was my aim at least)

hmm difficult question because i always intend to finish a wip until i move away from it/the fandom. at which point i maintain no hope that i’ll ever finish it. though there’s a few ideas in my drafts that may or may not ever become fics (i really want to write something cosmic horror based for star wars, don’t know specifically what though)

16. What are your writing strengths?

i love writing imagery and metaphor and that sort of thing !! i am the annoying person going well actually when talking about why the curtains are blue

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

action. to a lesser extent dialogue. when the characters have to actually do things in a scene i am Struggling

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

would be very cool if i spoke another language well enough to do it !!

possibly ironically, it was star wars (i think i was like 12? 13? writing about an oc that i now remember nothing about 😔). it’s taken me a while but i’ve finally come back to star wars !

there’s a few fics that i’m really proud of for different reasons, though i think my top two would be my tragic codywan fic (longest thing i’d written in years and i was proud of myself for finishing it), and (to) kiss like real people do. which i just really like

TOP FIVE XIANXIA (& I'M ALSO GONNA INCLUDE XUANHUAN)

love and redemption. girl meets boy. boy's part of a cursed theatre troupe and part of masochism tango of reincarnation with girl that lasts 10 life times. girl is actually kind of the god of war. crack, gender reversal, gender fuckery at large, feminist and queer friendly. incredible OST. just all-around one of my favorite dramas ever.

lost you forever (part 1). a xuanhuan vs. xianxia, but im not passionate enough about 5 xianxia for this list lol. another drama with gender fuckery. a fantastic FL and beautiful relationship building (and unbuilding) and character-driven story. dont even need the second part for this to be a favorite!!

love between fairy and devil. all those tropes you fucking loved when you were like 13 on ff.net given a lot of heart and near-perfect execution (aside from that ending). awesome characters, beautiful costumes and art direction. super addicting and bingeable

the legends. bai lu playing a powerhungry demoness and acquiring a dysfunctional harem in the process. xu kai looking like a sad blue-haired puppy. a monk that creates an entire demon because he has 1 boner. sismance. i had a lot of fun with this one and pointedly did not watch the last 5 or so eps lol

till the end of the moon. there's parts i genuinely hate and would not watch ever again. there's parts that are fucking incredible. sort of like the main couple, i have a love/hate relationship with this drama but when it hits it really hits

honorable mention: eternal love/10 miles of peach blossoms (xianxia fuckery at its finest weighed down somewhat by tedious side plots and one of the most infuriating 2nd FLs of all time)

TOP FIVE HISTORICAL KDRAMAS

gaksital/bridal mask. set in the 1930s. inverse character arcs between the hero and villain. dysfunctional romance amped up to the nth level. high stakes, high consequences, and a cast full of well-developed and written characters. bring tissues

empress ki. girl crushing and girl bossing her way through two kingdoms, one of the best FLs of all time. with her is a besotted baby enemy emperor and a Noble Good besotted powerless king as she goes from slave to smuggler to concubine to empress. chef's kiss

the princess' man. you want feral wrecks for your male leads? female leads ready to throw down in a parking lot? if you like lovers to enemy (?) lovers and star-crossed romances this one is a must

the king loves. this one's also on my underrated list. the first 4ish eps are a chore, but if you get past them you have the love triangle to end all love triangles, interesting palace politics with a fascinating "evil" empress, and im siwan getting to go a lil unhinged as a treat. it's the definition of an idol drama but gd did i love this and i binged the hell out of it no regrets

mr sunshine. le cinema!!! an interesting time in history (1870s-1880s) with a wide range of flawed but compelling characters centered around one of the most badass FLs of all time. winner of the #1 second lead syndrome contest for me with dong mae. only downfall to this one is i felt negative chemistry with the endgame ship but the show is good enough without it

honorable mention: chicago typewriter isnt on this list because it's only kind of half a historical drama BUT OMG WATCH IT. it's in my top 3 kdrama and while it has a slow build once it kicks off it fucking goes off

TOP FIVE UNDERRATED DRAMAS

the king loves as mentioned above. i think why it has a lower rating is the first handful of eps are kind of a snoozefest and there's a bit of an upset with the romance (which i was 900% for). but it's a fucking fun ride and full of awesome goryeo palace drama adventures

kairos. not underrated, since it has decent scores on reviewer sites, but underhyped? not enough people have seen this one and it's an incredible time-travel thriller that i found way more interesting than other popular dramas of its type like signal

cheese in the trap. the ending's a hot mess, but compared to how some 2020-onward dramas are ending it's poetry. a solid adaptation of a really great webtoon, awesome cinematography, and one of the few dramas ive seen that actually capture the campus/college life experience right

discovery of romance. the emotional cheating element causes a lot of folks to hate it/jump ship, but i love this one (and gd BOTH the fl and ml emotionally cheat ftr he's not innocent in this hot mess). jung yumi + eric mun are one of my favorite kdrama duos and they kill it, and kim seulgi plays an incredible second female lead

when a man falls in love. man people HATED this one but i think it's a blast when you're in the mood for mess + gangsters. if you're into watching fucked up romances with severe power imbalances and the dysfunction that follows, this one's for you. it's not perfect but definitely not deserving of its 6.8 MDL rating (gd!)
