So far I am 25 hours into Crisis Core and learned many things

(Crisis Core spoilers and theories ahead)

- Genesis has a Bible (most likely related to LOVELESS and his theories) and I joined his fan club

- Sephiroth has a fan club with “images that your average Sephiroth fan could never ever dream of seeing” apparently which is a bit worrying but I am also a Sephiroth fan club member so

- Tseng knows Aerith somehow? Willing to bet this is either related to her having been in I think Shinra facilities for a while. Orrrr something love related(?)

- Cid is in space training :) (I love Cid.)

- Cissnei is a character, don’t know much about her but she’s there and I don’t THINK she’s in the original FFVII but if she is she’s hidden because I dragged Cloud around on SO MANY side quests. (Cissnei your chances of living do not look good in the future I’m not gonna lie)

- I believe Gongaga is still intact and hasn’t yet been destroyed by theeee Mako Reactor I think it was sooo that’s probably gonna be an important plot point if that happens

- At least two of the SOLDIERS are gay for Zack or at least find him attractive in some way (which if they are, good for them, good for them)

- The fact that once you’re in the science dept. you can’t leave because they deal with too much sensitive information, that’s a really nice detail and I really love it. I learned that a few days ago I think and I really appreciate that because it makes Hollander’s stuff make more sense I guess from what little I do know

- I lied about Sephiroth he’s not the comedy character it’s Genesis, my man just shows up, spouts poetry(It’s always LOVELESS) and then dips. “My friend, will you fly away now. To a world that abhors you and I 🤓” (I’m sorry Genny ily I’m in your fan club 😞)

- Apparently nobody likes Angeal because from what I saw there was one person in his fan club and it’s getting shut down because she’s too depressed to do anything about it (unless Zack intervenes, which can’t be possible anymore because I missed that chance, sorry Angie 😞)

- There’s a lot of definitely not relevant small details(lie) Like Zack’s whatever limit break that he uses when you haven’t gotten the character’s image in the DMW yet. It’s just cross slash, which is Cloud’s 2nd limit break in the original FFVII (I can’t say anything about the new one since I haven’t played it yet- but yeah) Another one being Aerith’s bow, since Zack buys it. (I’m sure there’s more I can’t think of right now but yeah)

- Zack is 6’1” and his hobby is squats apparently which makes sense but I figured he’d more of a casual baking kind of guy. (Though he’d also be the kind of guy to burn like Kraft Mac n cheese so I don’t know if I’d trust him in the kitchen ever-)

- Zack got doxed lol (and Yuffie got his address)

Having finally finished The Once and Future King, I feel the need to share the incredible reasoning for why Guenevere can never actually love her husband and falls for Lancelot instead:

She thinks Arthur is "so old" and on the "verge of senility" because she is a little baby 22 and he is a decrepit, ancient 30. Which yes is exactly how a 22 year old should feel about a 30 year old trying to be in a relationship with them but also is just deeply hilarious to me. T.H. White did not have to go so hard and I respect him for that.

sorry to continue lpspop posting but that reblog got me really thinking "wow. all these characters do kinda suck," angelina in particular kinda stood out to me, because early on in savannah's rise to popularity, angelina was kinda depicted as 'the good one' while genny and savvy bathed in their newfound popularity, when in actuality angelina was the one who pushed savannah to overthrow brooke simply because she's good looking, and then she gets upset when savannah and genny don't acknowledge her due to them being busy with boys

that's not me saying lina's anger isn't valid, especially since at first genny and savvy didn't try to include lina in their activities. it took until the night of (or before?) brooke's party for savannah to apologize, which is good on her part, but still ??? i dunno

what i'm trying to say is that angelina isn't exactly a saint 😭 neither is genny, since they the ones to pitch the idea of a rivalry with brooke to savannah. idk i'm just rambling here.

I wasn’t planning on writing anything about Chenford because I’m not trying to start an argument (not that I expected many will read this any way 🤣), but I have a lot of thoughts jumbled up. I think it would be helpful for me to just get them down, so I am better able to absorb what has been shared by others. I love a good discussion! Especially one centered around some form of literature.

(If you are reading this, then just let me preface with this is me really just free writing what’s going through my head. I definitely am not telling anyone else how to feel, react, or process this storyline—nor do I expect anyone to agree with my ramblings.)

For me, I think a major issue I have is with the breakup trope itself—particularly the “I’m not good enough for you, so I can’t be with you” trope. In my experience, this argument usually comes from the male character in a relationship. Romance novels are riddled with this set up; I’ve seen it in films and television plenty of times. It almost always comes from the guy. (And I acknowledge the majority of media I consume is M/F romance). The problem I have reconciling this concept is because it feels like this happens because the guy in the relationship feels comfortable and is willing to make the decision for both of them, and is often unwilling to listen to his partner’s thoughts or feelings. There is something inherently misogynistic in that, and it has never sat well with me.

I thought a lot about why Tim was upset about the 5 player trade, and while I don’t think the show did a particularly good job of explaining it, I think it boils down to the fact that Lucy made a decision about Tim’s life without talking to him about it. Even though it came from a sincere, caring place and had (for Tim at least) a positive outcome, it wasn’t right for her to make that decision on her own. If the argument is being made that Tim is walking away from their relationship because he feels (right or wrong) it’s best for Lucy, it just seems odd to me that Tim would choose to (essentially) do the same thing to Lucy after it was so upsetting to him.

Now, was Tim in a heightened emotional state? Absolutely. Does that impact a person’s reasoning? 100% But I think where this situation breaks with what has been established, is Tim’s choice to just walk away without discussion. Something that made me fall in love with Chenford in the first place was Tim’s willingness to listen to Lucy even when he was emotionally struggling. Outside Isabel’s apartment with the drugs, when she got on to him about being pissed over the report following the virus scare, his later acknowledgment over his behavior in the pilot with the Hispanic gentleman, and so on. To have Tim just walk away from her communicates one of two things: either he was willing to make the decision but wasn’t willing to deal with the consequences or he was so convinced he was right, he wasn’t interested in what Lucy would have to say. Neither are a particularly good look for Tim, and, again, why I just don’t really like this trope. (I would be saying the same thing about Lucy if she were the one doing this-in fact, I think she seriously mishandled her break up with Chris, but I definitely wasn’t emotionally invested in their relationship. So, sorry Chris; you don’t get a post 🤣).

Another aspect of the trope I find ridiculous is how it should essentially impact all relationships this character has; if Tim isn’t good enough to be with Lucy as a romantic partner then he should feel that way about being a friend to Lopez, a brother to Genny, an uncle to her kids, and so on. Otherwise, to isolate this feeling to specifically the romantic partner is just…weird? “I’m going to end our relationship because you deserve better, but just you. I’m going to keep all my other relationships.” Like, I don’t know, that just feels super icky. And, based on the preview for the next new episode, it definitely seems like Tim is going to spiral into pushing people away/isolating, but where is the line drawn? What if Tim had a kid? (And I know hypotheticals are probably not the best here, but I warned this would be meandering 🤪) Would he walk away from his own kid because he didn’t feel good enough? That definitely doesn’t make sense to me, but, again, it just highlights the pitfalls I run into with the trope itself and why I cringe when it is used. My view of Tim—and by extension Chenford—is now informed by what I see as the implications of the trope.

It’s incredibly off putting that now Tim and Lucy’s parents (oh, gosh, and I just realized, even Nolan) essentially fall into the same category. Do you think Lucy’s parents were so dismissive of her wants and hurtful because they hated her or didn’t love her? I am 100% sure it’s because they thought they were loving her. It doesn’t make it right or healthy, but I’m sure they thought they were doing what was best for Lucy. And John made the decision to end their relationship to “protect” Lucy, and I remember thinking the same thing about him that I think about Tim now. I really thought Tim was different and understood what Lucy had been through in her life, and, ultimately at this point, makes me question how I feel about Chenford overall.

I also want to say that I don’t begrudge Tim acknowledging something in him that wants to change and be better (openly encourage such self reflection and growth in fact). I’m also (pretty) sure this will ultimately lead back to then getting back together, and maybe even Tim being a better partner. I’m simply saying that using this particular trope in order to facilitate that doesn’t vibe with what I believe the show has established about Chenford, and it would have been very interesting (and, for me, preferable) to see how they could have told that story avoiding this cliche. That’s all.

So the OG says that Sephiroth was born in 1977, right? Right. However, the Ultimania says that all three of the original Jenova babies were born between 1977 and 1980. This seems to be wrong—but it might not be after all.

Genesis was born first, so we can assume he was early in 1977. New Year's Day, maybe, "in the beginning" like his name.

Sephiroth was born late in the same year, because it had to be after Vincent was killed—which, since he was 27 at the time, was October 13, 1977, at the earliest—but within a few months, because Lucrecia was pregnant when this happened. (I'm reasonably certain Seph was born on December 25th, but I'm not going into that here.)

But! If Genny was born first (and he was according to CC) and Sephiroth was born in 1977 (and he was according to the OG), and the Ultimania is correct (which it blatantly is not in several places but bear with me here because this is funny) then there's only one explanation for the three year range in their birth years: Angeal was born in 1980.

This would explain a lot about how he acts, his determination to be The Mature One being particularly intense because he's not only the youngest (which has never been in question when taking the timing of the two known arms of the Jenova Project into account), but is the youngest by multiple years. Like, "could have been babysat by Genesis as a kid" level younger. Him being 20-21 to Genesis' 23-24 during the first portion of Crisis Core makes his rather dramatic emotional failure both much more understandable and a hell of a lot more tragic.

Also the mental image of people around the company finding out that Angeal is the baby by multiple years is hilarious to me, and it could explain why his facial hair is so weak. He's the babiest in the group and thus tries the hardest to look like an adult.

Emblems cannot interface with the physical, not on their own. And usually, when they can, it's for combat. They are tools for this. They can have or lack will depending on what the dragon who calls them forth does (invoke or pray, either way the dragon has to want them to have free will or not).

I always felt it was a little cruel that of the two lords from Valentia to be turned into a ring (at least, in the <<location>> we play on, as it is established that different [places/dimensions/what have you] will have different emblems), it was Celica, and all on her own. She hated fighting and war the most of the two, despite knowing that it was sometimes necessary to take up arms. Now she is practically a weapon, one that can talk and share wisdom, but a weapon none the less. She's intangible outside of the ring, and most of her time as an emblem was spent only able to observe without being seen, with only memories as her company. It'd have probably been more tolerable if Alm was with her, or even other friends like Genny, Boey, Mae, Silque, Gray, Tobin, Faye, etc. Some of them are bond rings, but they don't exactly talk or contain much of the person they represent (as far as we know).

Anyway, onto Heroes. Of course Alm would hang out with his friend regardless if she was a ghost facsimile trapped in a ring or the actual whole entire person, but what gets me is that she can't even smell the bouquet. Feel the breeze of the air, taste her favorite foods. Anyone could describe it for her, poetically or otherwise, but she herself can't experience these things unless she is engaged with someone.

But that is reserved for combat. Obviously it is taxing and obviously it enhances the user. Why WOULDN'T you use it for combat?

Anyway, I think he would. I think Albein Alm Fire Emblem Rudolf the Second would let his best friend pilot him like a gundam just so she could experience life to it's fullest, even if just a moment or two. Walk the garden, taste some food, take in the breeze. He'll be winded afterwards and it's probably considered a waste, but if she enjoys herself and gets to feel like a person again then it's all that matters. She hasn't seen him in years even if it feels like yesterday? Time to make some new memories.

I love love LOOOVE medieval/fantasy sniperscout stuff, it isn't super common i dont think (which is why i have my own version on ao3 lol—) bUT there are a few good ones!!!

Look im not gonna lie, im a total sucker for protective Sniper in their relationship. It might be out of character kinda or maybe not idk. But I think that after losing his adoptive parents and finding out his actual parents are assholes that don't even care about him, he'd be scared to lose Scout, too. Especially since he saw Scout die then come back to life. Scout understands why he feels that way I think, even if it does kinda get on his nerves sometimes and he has to remind Snipes that he can take care of himself just fine, thank you very much. He did take out a horde of bots on his own before the last one got a shot in after all.

Also I love how people write Scout as being someone who helps ground Sniper and get him out of his own head. All that chattering away to someone who's actually interested and actively listening! In turn, Sniper can help bring Scout down when he gets too heated about stuff, like arguments with teammates. RAAAAA I JUST REALLY LIKE THEIR DYNAMIC

1: okay so this is gonna be a bit of a journey :P i’ve been in the jugdral fandom for about a year and a half now i think? and who i rotate in my brain has changed a lot since then. lana already had an advantage because i tend to like characters of her archetype (genny’s one of my faves from SoV), so she was already in the upper half of my character rankings, but i didn’t really think about her as much as some of the others. the first thing to get me attached was how fun she is to draw for me. like i already loved the retro anime fluffed-up hair everyone had going on, but lana’s known for having it extra wild, and just finding ways to stylize the hair + having that sweet spot of clothes that aren’t too complicated or simple to draw meant that she was already filling a lot of the blank space in my notebooks.

so flash forward to some months later and idk if anyone else gets this but my faves always hit me with a sort of flip of a switch. like i sit here and then. blorbo beam. and lana was no exception LOL but anyways only making my attachment bigger was when i decided to write a fanfic for my top ship for her (that is unreleased because i’m still writing it 😓). said ship only has a single work on AO3 where it’s a background thing and i was sad so i had to start making the content myself! i wanted to do my best to get everyone’s personalities right so i did a whole multi-paragraph analysis and was squinting at every single line she had in the game for notes and i found that she has a lot more to her than the fandom gives her credit for. like she’s always kinda written off as “seliph’s default love interest” or people look to her substitute instead (i mean i get it muirnes a really good character) but i found that there was more than what i had seen discussed!! and so i’m kinda going on a huge ramble here LOL so i’ll try to wrap it up. in short, found it really interesting how she has a lot of hidden insecurities around relationships that seeps into her conversations, like there’s the seliph conversation where she brings up julia for some reason but i’m pretty sure by that point they knew she was his sister?? and another thing is how her conversations with her other love interests are a lot more…generic in comparison to seliph’s. her having a crush on him is kinda there whether you pair them or not, but she’s shown to be kinda shy, so even if they’re friends it feels like she’d take rejection pretty hard. and so i saw the other conversations as indirectly showing that she lost a lot of her self-confidence as a result. i know some people could take it in a Faye Echoes way where she just settled for someone else but idk that wasn’t really the vibe i was getting. because of that, i found it interesting to think of how she could move on from that and gain more confidence in herself, and eventually have a relationship where she’s happier. so yeah anyways

TL;DR overanalyzed the blorbo and got attached

random ramble:

So the FEH child banner this year is most likely not 3h. Doesn't mean it's guaranteed to be SOV, and if it isn't I hope genealogy/Thracia can get some alts instead (ngl I kinda want to see child sigurd/quan/eldigan but still).

I did see a post (on the cesspit known as reddit) of the possibility of an sov children's banner and saw a comment of someone wanting Lukas on there.

And I have spent the past few minutes thinking.

First off, we have 7 acceptable child banner units already there: Alm, Celica, Gray, Tobin, Kliff, Faye and Conrad. Out of these, Alm and Celica are more-or-less guaranteed on this hypothetical banner. They're the main guys. This would also be celica's actual first seasonal. Faye is also more guaranteed, and honestly I can see a duo of her and alm, or alm and celica, or celica and conrad. It's only out of those three I can see though. Kliff, Gray and Tobin are nowhere near popular enough and Conrad is basically guaranteed to be a backpack IF he gets an alt.

However, that's the most likely option. Now onto that comment making me think:

First off: Yes I have drawn my own hypothetical designs for a child Forsyth and Python before. But considering this is a banner, it could always extend to the rest of the deliverance. Like, seeing Clair, Clive and Fernand would be fun. Mathilda too. Though that's a few too many and none of them are near popular enough to carry a banner.

Anyway if it's not SOV I'd like to see either Jugdral Duology get a full seasonal banner (when was their last one? It was either the scion banner or one of the dancer banners iirc), or the other game where its main characters at least have canonical child versions of themselves- Binding Blade. I'd rather not see engage, fates or 3h though.
