If I remember correctly the first time I discovered you was through your Pacific Rim AU foc (and I fell in love with it!). What other non-MK AUs are your favourite? And what hcs do you have for them? Any you're planning to turn into first eventually? I'd love to know!
tysm! That was actually the first fic I ever wrote!
AUs honestly tend to be pretty hit or miss for me (luckily all the subscorp au's hit shoutout to summertrap for all of theirs) but generally I like supernatural aus and ofc Pacific Rim aus
I don't really have any headcanons for either atm, I usually tend to find those as I'm writing the fics (sorry this is a very boring response)
Currently I've got two versions of a beauty and the beast au in the works, a Genie au in the works, and I'm toying with the idea of makng a sequel to the Pacific Rim AU
I do love soulmate aus tho, I am a Sucker for a good soulmate au, which I do have hcs for
No matter what kind of soulmarks they have, Hanzo will have tried to search for Kuai Liang, even when he didn't know who his soulmate was, he was trying to find him
Hanzo completely buys into soulmates and finds the concept very romantic.
He actually has two, one being Harumi and one being Kuai Liang, and always mourns the fact that the two never met bc he thinks they would have liked each other.
Kuai Liang is a lot more guarded and not as fond of soulmates bc he was taught to view it as a weakness to be exploited and he doesn't want anyone to do that to him
It takes Kuai Liang a while to settle into the idea of having a soulmate and even then, when he falls in love with Hanzo its bc Hanzo is his friend, not his soulmate
at some point, no matter what kind of soulmark they have, Hanzo thinks Kuai Liang is dead, and I bet that happens before he meets Harumi.
I tempted to write one of those too, but I've got to get through the fics I'm working on first XD

my great curse is i absolutely adore slow cinema, but it’s incredibly difficult to transcode their techniques into my creative medium (prose). if i could have one genie wish it would be the knowledge and skill necessary to write a novel with the affect of a tsai ming-liang film
#i’ve been using stream of consciousness or extensive description to mock up the vibe#but it’s not the same and i know it’s not the same#ryddles

Disney’s Descendants and the Three Kingdoms
The casts and worlds of DISNEY’S DESCENDANTS and the DYNASTY WARRIORS series collide as the Auradon Kids and Villain Kids find themselves stepping right into the story of the epic struggle of power between the three kingdoms of Wu, Shu, and Wei in ancient China. On another day at Auradon Prep, Lonnie, Jane, and Ally find a mysterious book that follows the stories that contains all that ever happened in the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu, and Jin and their struggle for power and control. But when they opened and turned its pages of this odd tome, however, they were all teleported into the book, along with their friends and the VKs. When they all wake up in the book's world and were completely separated from each other, the AKs and VKs have been somehow dressed as the characters within the narrative... Lonnie is on the Shu kingdom, ruled by Liu Bei and his sworn brothers Guan Yu and Zhang Fe. Jane is on the Wu kingdom, led by the Sun family. Mal and Evie are on the Wei kingdom, led by the Hero of Chaos, Lord Cao Cao, and the Cao family. And Ally...is with the Jin kingdom that ends the era.
Trapped by the book's magic, the VKs and AKs must work with each of the three kingdoms and follow their historical (and hypothetical) events to find their way back home.
Lonnie 蜀 (Shu) Arc follows the story from the perspectives of Lonnie, daughter of Mulan; and Jordan, daughter of Genie, joining forces with the sworn brothers, Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei; Zhuge Liang, the Sleeping Dragon and the kingdom of Shu for its driving forces are harmony and hope.
Lonnie is paired with Guan Yinping, the daughter of Guan Yu; and later Xingcai, the daughter of Zhang Fei.
Jordan is paired with Zhuge Liang (i.e., a strategist soul)
Jane 呉 (Wu) Arc follows the story from the perspectives of Jane, daughter of Fairy Godmother; Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; Jay, son of Jafar; Audrey, daughter of Sleeping Beauty; and Freddie, daughter of Dr. Facilier, joining forces with the kingdom of Wu, led by the Sun family, for its naval strength is known far and wide and it is of talented and fearless warriors.
Jane and Audrey are paired with the Two Qiaos (Jane is paired with Daqiao, wife of Sun Ce, and Audrey is paired with Xiaoqiao, wife of Zhou Yu)
Carlos is paired with Sun Ce and later Ling Tong
Jay is paired with Zhou Yu (i.e., a strategist soul) and later Gan Ning
Freddie is paired with Lu Su, and later Lu Xun (i.e., She's the only one to be paired with strategist souls).
Mal & Evie 魏 (Wei) Arc follows the story from the perspectives of Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Evie, daughter of Evil Queen; Ben, son of Beauty and the Beast; Doug, son of Dopey; Chad, son of Cinderella; and Dizzy, daughter of Drizella Tremaine, joining forces with the Hero of Chaos, Cao Cao and the kingdom of Wei, led by the Cao family, for its magnetism and principles. Elite warriors and cunning strategies are forces to be reckoned with.
Mal is paired with Xun You (i.e., a strategist soul)
Ben is paired with Guo Jia (i.e., a strategist soul)
Evie is paired with Cai Wenji (Evie is paired with an altruistic soul)
Chad is paired with Jia Xu (i.e., a strategist soul)
Doug is paired with Li Dian (i.e., a veteran general soul)
Dizzy is paired with Xu Shu (Dizzy is paired with a pure-hearted fighter)
Ally 晋 (Jin) Arc follows the story from the perspective of Ally, daughter of Alice, joining forces with the Jin kingdom, led by the Sima Clan, for it was the only kingdom that puts an end to the Three Kingdoms era.
Ally is paired with Sima Yi (i.e., a strategist soul) and later Wang Yuanji

“you know you’re singing to your headphones out loud, right” au for moshang plz sqh singing modern songs that mbj doesn't know and being hella confused 🥺
Featuring karaoke-loving Shang Qinghua who gets a bit too drunk at a Cang Qiong mountain gathering, and he goes all out.
Or when Mobei Jun wonders why Shang Qinghua is singing about another man called Liang Shan Bo.
---
Sometimes, he thinks about his old life before he ever had the misfortune of landing in a world of his own creation, with an annoying gaming AI system of sorts hounding his every move (in the beginning) or turning up at the most inopportune times just when he thinks it’s finally gone and left him alone (more recently).
Shang Qinghua remembers not having many friends when he was still Shang Qinghua, when ‘向天打飞机 Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky’ was still merely his writing Weibo account moniker and when he had millions of people looking up to him for his crucial contributions in writing this amazing story about his son Luo Binghe and the way he overcame all odds to become a success with a harem of gorgeous women at his feet (damn you, Peerless Cucumber bro!).
Back in those days, he lived off cup noodles and instant coffee. If he didn’t have to leave the house, Shang Qinghua would simply curl up in front of his laptop, either writing for his novel or watching shows (clears his throat) - actual shows! Chinese period dramas were his favourite, where a skilled and intelligent consort in the harem would outwit all the other women to be with her one true love, the Emperor, who falls irrevocably in love with her.
And when he got bored, he switched from the laptop to his television to engage in his second most favourite hobby - Chinese karaoke. Going out to a karaoke bar would require some level of socializing, and also a few friends so he gets more bang out of his buck from what he pays for the room, but at home?
With advanced technology and a tiny ass microphone in either shining gold or silver, Shang Qinghua’s home entertainment system was his very own personal karaoke room, His tiny mic even had that echo-y effect on.
Shang Qinghua has a thing for classic Chinese songs - ‘The New Butterfly Dream’, ‘Liang Shan Bo and Juliet’, The Moon Represents My Heart‘ - and contemporary karaoke must-haves, like Wang Fei. For an embarrassing few days, the Chinese version of Baby Shark was a veritable earworm as well.
After transmigrating into his own story set in ancient times, where he lives without technology, Shang Qinghua would be lying if he said he didn’t miss the Internet. Laptops would be incredibly handy, and so would switches for lights, definitely indoor plumbing for toilets, and induction stoves. Phones too, that would be nice, rather than having to ‘send word’ with letters.
Of course, there is no karaoke bar or machine for him.
Not all is bad though. At least he transmigrated to Shang Qinghua in this world as a baby, so it’s not as if he was surviving on Internet and technology one day and left to do everything manually the next day since someone was always taking care of him. Peerless Cucumber bro, of course, wasn’t as lucky, but the man has definitely taken to this world (and his son!!) like a fish to water.
And as for himself, Shang Qinghua does not need to envy Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe either, because somehow, he has gotten the man of his dreams too, even if said man was a little cruel and rude to him in the beginning.
He has the love of his life (coughs coughs) and they’re stuck in this world for the rest of his life. What more is there to want? Not to mention how his cup of instant noodles betrayed him at the last moment, resulting in his death! It is slightly safer, ironically, to be in this world instead.
All is good except... well...
===
Shen Qingqiu marvels at the sight before him, torn between wanting to step in to stop Shang Qinghua, or watch this farce unfold.
He sometimes forgets where he, or where Shang Qinghua, who has been in this world longer than he, came from. They don’t always talk about the past when they meet, and aside from the occasional meetups, Shen Yuan is a part of him that doesn’t surface, not when he is with Luo Binghe.
Shang Qinghua, on the other hand, grew up here, and aside from referring to Shen Qingqiu by his Weibo account name, he seems otherwise well-adjusted, no hint of modern online writer Shang Qinghua in sight. It doesn’t feel as if he misses their original world either.
This evening, however, memories of modern times slap him in the face, quite literally.
“Shizun!” Luo Binghe calls, frantic, tugging him back into his embrace out of Shang Qinghua’s way. Once Shen Qingqiu is safe in his arms, his eyes narrow at the bumbling, drunk idiot causing a scene in the dinner hall, “Shang Qinghua...”
Shang Qinghua stops where he is, and then before any one can stop him, he picks up a pair of chopsticks, brings it to his mouth, and begins bellowing his way through-
-Jay Chou’s Hair Like Snow.
“Shizun, are you alright?” Luo Binghe fusses, his hands coming up to cup Shen Qingqiu’s face when his Shizun doesn’t so much as respond to him. “Were you hurt? Did he hurt you? How’re you feeling? We’ll go back home now-”
“What is he singing?” Qi Qingqi frowns in disgust.
They all wince when Shang Qinghua attempts to hit a high note, but fails miserably.
Fuck me, Shen Qingqiu thinks, his eyes impossibly wide, who knew Airplane bro was such a karaoke fanatic?
“... maybe he is possessed by a malevolent spirit? Or perhaps this is an unidentified curse?” asks Ming Fan.
“Or is this some new form of cultivation?” asks Ning Yingying, curious.
Yue Qingyuan, seated at the front of the dining hall, cannot help but be concerned for him as well. “Shall we call Mu-shidi to take a look at him-”
They’ve gathered for their annual meeting - a condition that Yue Qingyuan has set in place a few years ago after Luo Binghe ‘stole’ (married!) him away from Cang Qiong Peak - and although Shang Qinghua said he didn’t mind that Mobei Jun was unable to accompany him today, he spent most of the dinner drinking alcohol while in a melancholic state instead.
Who knew that Shang Qinghua was a singing drunk?!
Hence their current predicament.
At the Sect Master’s words, Shang Qinghua suddenly turns around and looks at Shen Qingqiu. HIccuping twice, he then beams, “Cucumber-”
Shen Qingqiu has never moved that fast in his life. Within a fraction of a second, he has his hand pressed over Shang Qinghua’s mouth, holding onto him from the back.
“Cucumber?” everyone choruses in confusion.
“I believe your Shang-shishu has had a little too much to drink,” Shen Qingqiu clears his throat, nodding at everyone else. “We should... send him back to Mobei. Isn’t that right, Binghe?”
His disciple, his husband, still has on an affronted, murderous look for how Shang Qinghua almost brained Shen Qingqiu with his flailing arms in his drunken fit. The moment Shen Qingqiu asks, however, his expression morphs into something so soft and full of love that everyone who sees it chokes.
“Of course,” Luo Binghe smiles, devotion apparent in his eyes. “Anything Shizun wants.”
===
The words that are tumbling out of Shang Qinghua’s mouth are entirely incomprehensible, and so are the tunes he’s humming into his ear.
Mobei Jun thought he had gotten used to Shang Qinghua’s eccentric mannerisms, and also thought he knew everything about his husband, so many years later. Shang Qinghua is mumbling Chinese alright, but none of the characters put together make any sense.
Who is Liang Shan Bo? And who the hell is Juliet?!
His mood taking a turn for the worse, Mobei Jun hoists Shang Qinghua up further on his back.
After getting so drunk, the idiot had the gall to demand for a piggy-back from the throne room to their bedroom. Mobei Jun has never once suffered such indignity in his years of living. A bridal carry? Of course, anytime. A piggy-back? As if he was some beast to be tamed?
Well this definitely has to be a first.
While he was stewing in his thoughts, Shang Qinghua switches from that song to another one, and a stream of ‘du du du lu du lu’ emerges from his lips... AND something about... a sha yu? What the hell is that?!
Shang Qinghua lazily lifts his right hand as they approach their room, balls it into a fist and puts it to his mouth, as if he’s holding something, and whatever monstrosity Shang Qinghua is singing, his voice gets even louder.
Mobei Jun tosses Shang Qinghua off his back unceremoniously and onto the soft bed. Interrupted, Shang Qinghua blinks, his vision blurry, and is about to catch his breath and start singing again when his husband climbs in after him. Trapping Shang Qinghua with his entire weight, Mobei Jun seals his lips with a kiss.
“... My king...” Shang Qinghua murmurs in a daze, when Mobei Jun pulls back a few minutes later, his breaths coming out as short, harsh pants. “My king...”
“That’s right,” he says with a glower. “I’m your Da Wang, your husband.”
Mobei Jun doesn’t know who Liang Shan Bo is, but he’s going to make sure no other man’s name ever leaves Shang Qinghua’s lips again when they’re together.
And when his husband finally sobers up, he’s going to have a lot to answer for.

Songs Mentioned (YouTube Links in Comments):
The New Butterfly Dream 新鸳鸯蝴蝶梦 - A Chinese classic, sung by Huang An but done beautifully by legendary god of singing Fei Yu Qing and singing partner for the song A Yun Ga
Liang Shan Bo and Juliet 梁山伯与朱丽叶 - A Taiwanese contemporary classic of sorts by Genie Zhuo, most Chinese millennials would definitely have sang this at a karaoke once in their lives - Song is inspired by Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Ying Tai, the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet to some extent - They both die in the end and become butterflies, so they’re also called the Butterfly Lovers.
The Moon Represents My Heart 月亮代表我的心 - ANOTHER CLASSIC CLASSIC!!!
Baby Shark (Chi. Ver) - ˆThe baby shark hype did move to China, and it’s pretty hilarious LMAO and in Chinese, shark is 鲨鱼 (sha yu) but I’m assuming that in this world, there isn’t a shark kind of animal of sorts? So Mobei Jun and everyone else except SQQ wouldn’t know what a shark is or looks like?!
Hair Like Snow 发如雪 - By Jay Chou, another classic that all Chinese millennials would have sang in a karaoke bar
Wang Fei 王妃 - Jam Hsiao’s version is known best, and it’s pretty epic, not that anyone can reach any of the high notes in the chorus, but does that stop us from trying?!! Hell no!!!
---
Notes: My first Moshang?!! That didn’t really have a lot of Moshang time?! But thanks anon, hope this sort of works?!

5 Things - Devin
April 9, 2021
And so it begins…
Well, I’m missing you all a ton right now, wishing I wasn’t back in shitty, smelly, stinky New York but still on the lake, ripping an apple bong, and trying to shimmy. Anyway, here are 5 things inspiring me right now, that I want to share, and hopefully some of my excitement and inspiration will rub off onto you...
1. “Films aren’t just for telling stories — they should create an impact that encourages other people to make work.” -Mati Diop.
This wasn’t intentional, but in many ways this may just be the perfect quote to kick off this little weekly experiment of ours. This is what I want to do in general, with each film I make, but it’s especially relevant to the film we started making on this trip. Like I said the night we delved into the dark depths of how hard life has been the past year or more: we can help each other, and we can do so by inspiring one another. Mati is the perfect symbol of this for several reasons. When I first saw Atlantics, a little over a year ago, it made me think of Alisa and her style, particularly her Cuba doc. Both those films moved and inspired me in strangely similar ways, and so I had to tell her to watch it. I think it’s safe to say that Mati’s film also inspired Alisa, and then she urged all of us to watch it last weekend, and the excitement was then spread through all of us. This is so cool to me, and gives me so much creative energy. I could say so much about the film itself, and all the different aspects that moved me and blew me away, but just this rippling impact that it had on all of us makes me so happy. However, one of my favorite aspects is the music, so I will add this quote from Mati as well (which is from the same article, linked just below the quote):
“Fatima is by far one the best musicians and artists of my generation and embodies the music of my time. I chose her because I wanted the music of the film to bewitch the audience like a djinn [genie] would, she also has an understanding of the complex geopolitical landscape of the film. My [way of telling stories] is fed by a lot of different references — European Gothic and the romantic movement, as well as my African and Muslim heritage — so I think the film is really a strange aesthetic combination. Fatima and I have a very similar hybrid culture.”

2. Lee Chang-dong (aka... Director Dong)
Wow, he has been such a profound source of inspiration for me these past few weeks. Each film of his we watched - and for Thomas and I it was three, yes three damn films! That’s like half his filmography! - had something different and new that blew me away, whether it was particular moments or something larger, something deeper pulsating underneath the surface. This interview he did after Burning’s release is fantastic, and these are the quotes that particularly stuck out to me:
“To me it seems that films these days are becoming more and more simple, and the audience seems to desire simpler stories. Of course, films sort of shape the desires and the demands the audience makes, so I kind of wanted to go against this trend and see if a film can sort of throw endless questions at the audience. Endless questions about a larger mysterious world. This film is the result of that experiment.”
“[Hae-mi is] also the only character in the film who persistently pursues the meaning of life. The moment she disappears, I wanted the audience to sort of feel her absence and ask themselves what she represents and has been searching for — her presence in this film is very important, even when she's not there. The dancing in this scene really signifies her entire presence in the film.
When she's dancing the Great Hunger dance, searching for the meaning of life and really seeking true freedom, you see her doing that dance surrounded by both the lies and natural beauty that we live in. The scene being set during sunset, you see light and darkness co-existing, and you see the moon in the sky and you also see the grass swaying in the wind, you see the livestock, the farm and, of course, the Korean national flag, which symbolizes politics. You see all these elements that represent aspects of our lives — even the Miles Davis tune. I thought that through this scene I could portray and combine all of these elements together in the most cinematic way possible, so that the audience can really feel the potential of cinema as a medium and the unique aesthetics of cinema. So from the beginning to the end of the scene, I didn't want it to feel like it was directed or staged; I wanted it to feel as if we were able to capture this slice of life very coincidentally, and to capture Hae-mi's pursuit of freedom.
...The moment I thought of this image was when I first knew I could make this story into a film.”

3. Tsai Ming-liang. It makes me so excited that What Time Is It There? connected with Thomas the way it did, because this guy is one of my absolute favorite filmmakers. Watching that film was so inspiring and such a great way to end the trip, because it made me so hopeful about the future, and all its possibilities. In so many ways, Tsai makes the films I want to make. You all have to watch Rebels of the Neon God and Vive L’amour. Here is a quote by Tsai which is so similar to how I think about the films I make:
“When I was younger, I wanted to be a painter and I have always enjoyed looking at paintings. Viewing a film is admittedly a different experience from viewing a painting, but in my films I am continually trying to develop an experience for my audience similar to that of viewing a painting. I am more like a painter who is using the language of filmmaking than a storyteller who is using the medium of film.”
And here is Tsai talking about his star and muse Lee Kang-sheng, his star and muse who has been in every one of his films, which I also find so fascinating and, again, inspiring:
“It’s not about a face being pretty; it is about how you frame it. The reason that I always cast Lee is his face. His face inspires me to look at film in a different way. Thinking about it, over my twenty-year career in feature films, it was never about the story, it was about filming Lee.
[His face] evoked a particular sensation that touched me deeply, while the professional actors that I auditioned did not touch me as much. Ordinary faces, and ordinary people, tend to leave a stronger impression on me. When I chose Lee to be my actor, there was a lot of criticism. People complained that he did not have the face of a star. He wasn’t big or muscular. Yet, what deeply touched me was precisely this sense of ordinary-ness in his appearance. He was natural. Lee’s appearance in my films actually changed the whole path of my development as a filmmaker away from standard, industrial-style films and in another direction.
As we have continued to collaborate, Lee has aged and his body has changed a lot. Usually in the film industry, when an actor ages and changes, the director will get a different actor to perform. Rather than choose that path, I chose to accept these changes and to allow the audience to watch as someone gets old and sometimes gets sick. I am using the changes in the body of Lee to have a conversation with the world. He will always be my actor. Using Lee throughout my career has been a kind of constraint because I could easily have used other professional or “star” actors. Placing this constraint upon myself was an active choice: a choice that was not driven by market forces but by what I wanted to achieve in my films.”
Here’s the full article:
https://www.cineaste.com/fall2019/painterly-poetics-tsai-ming-liang-and-lee-kang-sheng
4. Our film, which I’ll be posting many stills from in the coming days/weeks, but for now, here are these three.
It felt so good to be working on something new with all of you, and just be in that process, and see what comes out of it. I think we got some really exciting stuff, which I have to now go through and explore, but just the act of filming it and working together put me on such a high. Particularly that first night, when we got the blue shots of the lake (the boat going by, the green light of the other dock turning off) and then filming Thomas eat the enchilada...I get a specific creative rush when filming something that feels so exciting and new, and it’s a rare feeling, and I felt it then, and in other fleeting moments while filming for those days and nights. This is just the beginning...
5. Planning our next trip. Whether it be a road trip or just another week or so at the lake, I just want to be together again.

Akinator VS Dynasty Warriors: Pt. 2
Round 1: Cheng Pu
A-ha! I thought. A newly-introduced character will be harder for Akinator to guess! I thought. Well...
Akinator remembers. Akinator understands. Akinator knows. I feel like my plan is doomed to fail.
Ah, but perhaps I was wrong? Akinator’s first guess was Jiang Jun from For Honor, which I know absolutely nothing about, so I can’t judge whether or not that was a logical assumption. Still, things are going remarkably favourably for me so far. So much so, in fact, that it’s resorting to questions like this:
To which, of course, there is only one reasonable answer.
After that quandary was quashed, it guessed Sun Ce, which definitely does make sense. Then it guessed Huang Zhong, who apparently is heavily associated with the colour red now. Still, it’s kind of on the right track here, so it could be worse. However, Akinator gave up after that, so it loses this bout.
Round 2: Cao Pi
This should be an easy win for Akinator, right? Well, it’s first guess was a Star Ocean 3 character, so perhaps the ol’ web genie is simply off his game today. After reissuing the nose question, however, it seemed to get its act together, because after a short while it guessed correctly. Alright, then - score one for Akinator, and with relative directness, to boot!
Round 3: Guo Huai
This round seemed more regular, without any repeated questions or going off at odd tangents. However, it did pose a question I genuinely struggled with for a moment:
I answered “yes” by default, but still... we never actually see Guo Huai’s wife in-game, so we can only presume her species, right? And we never actually see her in person, so maybe...?
Moving swiftly on.
The first attempt made at identifying this character was someone from Rainbow Six Siege, which I also know nothing about. From what I can tell, though, it was a stupid guess. Less stupid was its next guess, which was Zhang Liao. However, continuing on ever further, it got to another question I struggled to answer:
I... I don’t know? How can I possibly know the sanitary habits of a video game character who may or may not have a functioning bowel at all, much less one that’s a matter of public conversation? And why would--
Moving swiftly on, again.
It guessed Zhuge Liang next, and I can see where it was coming from, but all the same, things weren’t looking good for Akinator. Especially since immediately afterwards it guessed Sima Yi, who’s obviously well-known for his not-being-a-bad-guy-ness, his beard (in DW, anyway), and his love of cannons. Well, one of those is debatable, but still - Web Genie Man gave up after this. As it should have done, because it was being quite stupid. So, score one to, uhh, Sima Yi’s beard?
Round 4: Yueying
Akinator seems to be back in its stride now. It guessed Diaochan almost immediately (after asking about Fortnite dances, anyway), so this round seemed more promising than the previous one. However...
What’s with all these questions I can’t and don’t want to know the answers to? I was mildly perturbed by Akinator for this, but alas, I pressed on, only to be met with another peculiar question:
Avoiding the actual answer to this question, how does this help to identify a character? What purpose does it serve? Is it merely used to make us, the user, feel that their privacy has been invaded? Is it all a conspiracy? Is Akinator some kind of malevolent techno-being who desires only chaos?
I think we can all be sure what the answer to that is.
Its next guess was Xingcai, which I can understand. Similar was its next attempt, Wang Yuanji. However, Akinator then gave up, so we shall never know if it was capable of getting there in the end.
In conclusion, Akinator may have lost this battle, but the war on my sense of comfort has only just begun.

Random questions but who's a character that you liked design wise but once their personality or their stats/usability in-game were revealed, you just hated them? Also, who's a character you hated design wise but ended up loving their personality or stats/ usability? (Characters can be from any game, not just FE)
THIS POST DOES INCLUDE CHARACTER HATE (AND LOTS OF IT LMAO)
Ooh, I love questions like these!!! This also turned out pretty long lmao
Characters I liked design wise but personality made me hate them:
Xander. (Fates) I can't stand him outside of a kink context. When the very first Fates trailer was shown (before we even knew it was the shitshow of different routes) he looked cute. But he's just so frustrating. I get that he's supposed to be the Camus archetype but he just falls so flat and doesn't work well. And that's cause there's absolutely no world building or any development at all to help give reasoning! It's just "I'm crown prince, and that's my father you're trying to kill," which like okay that's a fair reason. But the game doesn't do much more to justify it and Garon is so stupidly obviously evil that like, it makes Xander look so stupid. Plus the games keep trying to make him this badass warrior but Fates LOVES to tell not show so it's just informed attributes. Even in Conquest, he's not much better than he is in Birthright imo. If anything, Xander is worse in Conquest cause Conquest has the worst writing in the series by far. At the very least, he along with Camilla help make Lunatic conquest bearable. (Still haven't beaten it lol, but CQ Lunatic is just so unfair, and BS. Plus the last 2 chapters being back to back with no saves is the worst idea ever)
Sylvain. (Three Houses) His design was alright and I even manages to accidentally recruit him on my first playthrough while going for Ashe and Mercedes. But GOD his personality is just bleh. Womanizer types aren't inherently bad but the crests system being pushed as this unique thing makes Sylvain much more annoying since crest's aren't even unique or well done. Like, sure, people want him for his crest, but that's literally nobility in fucking general and also, Mercedes is right there with it being worse and she's so fucking sweet! Also, FE characters are lot deep, let's face it. Their interesting moments basically come from snippets of info about their past and intys makes it sad cause they know that catches people's attention. But most FE characters are pretty static. And that's fine! I love Grima and Corrin and they're pretty fucking godamn bland! But I'm not gonna act like they're these riveting 3 dimensional characters. Which people love to do for Sylvain and it just makes me hate him even more.
Felix. (Three Houses) I really enjoyed the Navarre archetypes. But Felix exaggerates it so much. And yeah, his scathing remarks and refusal to be anyway (I can't think of the word, FUCK) like willing to talk or come to an agreement is so just awful. Like, it makes sense since he's more like that with people he knows, but he's just such a fucking jackass. And the fandom praises it when he's really just a dick imo. Glad Seteth calls him out on it lmao. Also, sylvix is such a fucking straight ship, I cannot with it.
Characters I liked design wise but play style made me dislike them:
Regal Bryant. (Tales of Symphonia) Now, he's not a bad character or anyone I really hate at all! He's just so awful to actually play as in ToS. His attacks feel like they struggle to connect oftentimes and he has a much higher skill floor than other characters such as Lloyd, Kratos/Zelos, Sheena, and Presea. Genis and Raine should just never be used in the players hands cause magic casting times and the AI targeting the player lmao. Colette isn't too bad but like, honestly, just spam her paraball. Regal also gets shafted storywise but they at least fix it in the sequel. Also, he's a SPLENDID character. Regal being this buff man, yet he's just so calm and reserved while also having a playstyle usually reserved for women makes me love him even more. I just hate playing as him lol.
Assasin of Shinjuku/Yan Qing. (Fate/Grand Order) His part in Shinjuku was great, except for that wierd ending upon him fading away and all of sudden remembering, like it felt it was gonna make fun about the whole last limited rushed sympathy yet they play it so straight lmao. He's incredibly hot and he was so great in the Halloween Event. (The Mecha Eli and Osakabehime one. I forget the name) Yan Qing just literally offers no real meaningful team support and he also doesn't have any actual buffs to help boost his own damage. He has a use, it's just so pointless diverting crit stars when you can use a better servant with star generation to just make a bunch consistently. So, Yan Qing hits like a noodle and also dies to vasically any NP since he has no defensive skills. Even with his upgrade coming next year? he still just is so bad. I love him and he's lvl 90 but he's awful gameplay wise.
Byakuren Hijiri. (Touhou) I love Byakuren so much but she's just so unwieldy in the fighting games. I still tried to use her, but like, o was just so much better with Miko that I basically stayed Miko the entire time. Miko/Byakuren's story in Antinomy of Common Flowers.
Marisa Kirisame (Touhou) Marisa always gets the straightforward shot that does great damage. The problem with that is, she really really really REALLY struggles with stages and even some boss attacks. Plus Reimu has homing while unfocused and straightforward shot while focused PLUS smaller hitbox so Marisa is always at a disadvantage. Marisa being being the best shottype (to some, I prefer Youmu but Reimu is infact the worst shottype imo) in Wily Beast and Weakest Creature doesn't make up for Marisa being worse than Reimu in all other games besides maybe Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
In general there's not many characters that I hate due to design so these were harder
Character I hated design wise but loved due to gameplay.
Zhuge Liang (Fate/Grand Order) Granted, I basically know nothing about the Fate Series outside of FGO so I don't really know about Waver. But I just wasn't crazy about his design. And how he gets younger as you ascend him. But MY FUCKING GOODNESS! 50%NP charge is just way too good to pass up and he fits on literally any team whatsoever. Team Attack up, team efense up, targetable crit damage up, and NP drain+ stun chance on his NP makes him so versatile. And he's charging up people's NPs!! I use him for everything at this point lmao.
Character I hated due to design but liked due to character:
Scáthach=Skaði (Fate/Grand Order) The fact that Skaði looks like Scáthach really has no purpose in any meaningful way imo. Like, it's not Scáthach at all. And while I honestly would've preferred a brand new design, Skaði was just so wonderful in LB2. Especially since Ivan was kinda meh in LB1, so it really makes me look forward to the other Lostbelt Kings (Qin Shi Huang and Arjuna Alter. Both who I already love lmao) But yeah! Skaði being this kinda benevolent ruler who's doing everything she can to suppress Surtr's flames while trying to keep humans and giants from growing extinct due to her mother/goddess complex makes her so compelling to me. Also, LB2 focusing on women and the general theme of love was so touching. I didn't even care for her amazing gameplay, I was still gonna try for Skaði cause she was so great in Gotterdamerung.

I just finished putting together Issue 22 of the magazine! Today, just a week before the opening of the third FORGE Currents group show in Seattle, I'm delighted to share with you all a new issue of the magazine! Over the past three months, since putting out Issue 21, I've finally gotten back into a routine with things and I've been slowly gathering everything for this new issue and the gallery show. I feel so excited about everything I've gotten the chance to work on for this year, and it has been an enormous pleasure to work with so many artists for both the issue and the show! This new issue features tons of magnificent submissions by 16 young artists centered around the theme Intimacy, a handful of interviews recorded between last November and this month, and new comics by three of my favorite cartoonists. I hope you all have a fun time flipping through it! :)

Not only are RWBY characters based on Tales and Historical figures but so are the Relics!
Ok so here me out as far as we are aware the Haven Relic is a lamp which is the relic of knowledge.
So what story’s are the relics based on?
Well first memebers and the people who do the wrong thing and watch on pirate sites know that the relic of knowledge contained a Genje/jinn
Relic of Knowlege = the story of Aladdin/Genie in the lamp tale
Now I have a theory on another relic, the relic of creation.
Now there is a Chinese folk story called The Magic Paintbrush. It’s about a boy called Ma Liang who helps the poor people with his paint brush that brings his painted creations to life. And if we look closely the atlas academy’s insignia looks very much like
A paintbrush
So if any of you guys read the RWBY wikis it says early settlers of solitas (atlas) had to adapt quickly and use dust and develope technology rather rapidly because of the harsh climate and grimm
But what if that was not the case? What if that was what the later generations were told?
Remember how Ozpin in V6 in episode 2 lies about lionheart and how he died in service of protecting the school. Well what if Ozpin (or one of his followers) used the Relic of creation to help the settlers of Atlas “create” a kingdom and technology to combat the harsh climate and Grimm and lied about it?
It’s completely possible that atlas’s extremely fast development was aided by the relic of creation.
Anyway that’s all I have to say about one of the relics. Might theorise on the other two, The Sword of destruction and the Wreath (or war axes) of choice.

He didn’t want to be standing in this very... room, location ? Kuai knew no matter what offer she tries to make, he will remain unpersuaded. She was like a genie && though he did not believe in the myths of such magical creatures; he knew how they worked. They will grant you anything you desire, but at a cost. That price was never a small one either, it was a large one -- one that outweighed the original wish.
Kuai Liang will not fall for the genie’s tricks.
But he did allow her to speak with no interruptions, he stood silently with tense muscles, his fingers digging into the palms of clothed hands. There were multitudes of things he yearned for, perhaps an endless list. He wished for his brother to have never died, to never be corrupted. He wanted to have never underwent the Cyber Initiative, && the same for his fellow clan members. He desired to never have been Quan-Chi’s slave under his dark magic. He yearned to see his clan thrive, alive && well... && there’s even more he could ask for than those examples. But there was one thing that came to mind when he heard of Kronika.
“ What I want is your death, ” he said bitterly && cold. It was straight forward && intense, but Kuai didn’t care -- she wanted the truth, correct ? “ I want this to be over, for you to stop disrupting time. But I have the strongest suspicion you’re not going to grant that for me, am I right ? ”
