LOOKISM'S TIMELINE (WITH EDIT DOWN BELOW)

Hello, my fellow Lookism readers! I made a Lookism timeline based on my understanding of the plot, as I struggle to go through it in my head over and over again because it gets confusing as the story goes on.

I write a fanfiction based on Lookism, and I wanted to get the timeline as accurate as possible, so if you're going to add/ correct me in some details, I'll happily accept it!

I am posting it to get help because my brain cells couldn't handle fixing the timeline based on the backstories of the characters anymore. (I haven't re-read Lookism in so long, and the backstories are jumbled. That's why it was harder to do this because fixing the timeline is messing with my head.)

Note:

Main Cast: Daniel, Allied, and his friends from J High are 17 years old as first-year high school students. Gun and Goo are a year older together with Samuel and Jake (16 when the 4MC is formed). James Lee is older than Gun and Goo (21-22). The first generation kings are a bit older than James (23 or above).

Hi guys! I'm here to correct a mistake I made! So I went back to Ep. 497: Cheonliang (16) and realized Jichang's fall and James attacking the Kings happened at the same time.

Also, Vin Jin might be (14-15— I'm just clarifying this because I just decisively said 15 on the first box. I just don't think he could be 15 by that time because shortly after, Jichang fought the 22-year-old Gitae Kim, who was 7 years older than Jake Kim, and that makes Jake 15 y/o when Jichang and Gitae fought. Take note that Jake Kim is a year older than Daniel and the others.)

Here's the correct events: (From: Third Box, 1st Row above)

In Ep. 496: Cheonliang (15), Gun's statement implies that James Lee has already killed Gapryong by this time (by his appearance in Cheonliang, Gapryong is already dead).

James Lee entered his training arc. (This is from the fifth box on the first row, but is moved to the fourth.)

James Lee sends Gitae Kim to overthrow Jichang Kwak as the King of Seoul while simultaneously attacking the King of Ansan, Taesoo Ma. (Attacks on KOS and KOA happened at the same time— proven in Ep. 497 where Gitae calls James to say he was finished.)

Gitae Kim goes back to Mexico, with James being the one to get him his plane tickets.

Jichang Kwak gets banished to Chungcheong Province after being dethroned from his position.

James then proceeds to go after the other 1st Generation Kings, entering a new era.

Question to anyone who's seen Hostel part 2: I've seen a few articles now claiming it to be a "feminist masterpiece" (and some mentions of it being queer), and I need to know whether thats even remotely true or not. I've seen the first Hostel and consider it one of my least fav movies of all time (I've got no problem with the gore or torture, I hated it bc the characters were incredibly bigoted and the movie itself felt quite misogynistic and homophobic at times). I can't imagine Eli Roth making a feminist story at all, but I've seen several articles and stuff saying this, and I wanna ask anyone who's seen it if it actually is or if people are lying.

This is in reference to something I mentioned about a prominent female jockey leaving the sport over breaking smartphone usage rules. Nanako Fujita, who raced for Japan, was an excellent jockey with a promising career and international prospects. She was lucky, talented, and in a sport that’s starving for public interest, popular. But she used her smartphone on a weekend, so on October 2024 she tearfully penned her resignation letter and left the sport.

Now, this is slightly more about Japanese sporting authorities than general horse racing practice, but it’s embedded in the idea that jockeys are inherently just such unscrupulous little bastards that they can only be prevented from cheating by locking them in hamster cages.

Going back to how horse racing is historically the province of organised crime, disorganised crime, chaotic crime, things that aren’t crimes but should be, crimes that haven’t been invented yet, and felonies; and given that it all happens for the amusement of billionaires and royalty, not noted for being generous and scrupulous; and given that - much like how claiming a hobby of “knitting” is really a cover story for collecting yarn - horse racing is really an excuse to gamble;

Given all that background - there’s always been a lot of anxiety about jockeys “fixing” races. After all, they’re historically treated as disposable and make inconsistent and indifferent money while entire fortunes are wagered on their backs they’re in an obvious position to influence race outcomes, and there are unbelievable amounts of money at stake.

Thus, the sport feels that we have to assume that jockeys are simply inherently susceptible to bribery. In the UK, jockeys can’t bet on any races and have to declare their mobile phone numbers to the horse racing authority, and have restrictions placed on where/how/what they can use smartphones for around the tracks. They can’t bring a phone to work, basically. Which isn’t too unusual in some professions. The idea is that jockeys with phones could communicate with each other or outsiders to change racing outcomes, or share information in advance before it can impact on the betting odds (like insider trading on the stock market.) this is not commonly practiced in other UK sports. It’s a working condition imposed by anxiety about preserving the integrity of the gambling.

The Japanese licensing authority is more strict. The night before a race meeting, Japanese jockeys surrender their phones and go into separate quarters without lines of communication. So you might give up your phone at 9pm Friday night, enter a sort of corporate youth hostel, work for 2 days, and recover your phone on Monday. Nanako was caught using her phone during this period of sequestration, even though there’s no evidence that she was using it for race fixing (another jockey caught for the same thing in the crackdown was making a restaurant reservation.) again, this level of control over personal communications isn’t practiced in other Japanese sports! Even Japanese pop idols, famed for having restricted personal lives, don’t risk getting pushed out of their job entirely for touching a phone.

It’s about a lot of things, but the level of control exerted over jockeys is interesting to me! and speaks to their position as athletes who aren’t the focus of the sport they do; of jockeys as the disposable pilots of things that are far more valuable than they are; of workers whose working conditions are unique; of sportspeople whose sport is defined by the anxieties of the rich about gambling; of people whose bodies are ferociously honed for a specific set of rules that don’t even necessarily make sense; of a sport thousands of years old, one of the oldest continuous sports of human history, in which the humans who play it are invisible; of ancient once-immovable traditions colliding, in the 2020s, with renewed interest in animal and human welfare and renewed pressures to Perform for social media and everything changing in ways we can’t see because we’re in the middle of them. Like when I say “one of the oldest continuous sports in human history”, as old as the domestication of horses, think about it for a minute and think how strange it is that the human athletes are this invisible, this disposable, this secondary to considerations. Why is it that you’ve been forced to learn about football against your will all your life, and you never thought for a second about this. Isn’t that wild? I think it’s wild.

(Disclaimer: I’m really not an expert, just a mild fan, which is a bit unusual for my demographic; despite the sport being ancient and internationally known, it isn’t very relatable to “people like us,” so this is kind of the first time anyone on tumblr’s really posted about having an interest in horse racing/jockeys. I’m really not an expert and I barely follow the news and do NOT attend races or understand the stats/gambling. It’s just that it was my first career ambition when I was 6, and it’s one of those things where literally no one else cares, so you get to feel like you have Secrets and a Unique OC.)

HOMELESS TRANS WOMAN NEEDS MONEY

hi everyone me again. i'm a recently arrived refugee working through a language barrier to navigate medical, legal, and educational bureacracy while living in a shit hotel. i have a few disabilities and support needs that dramatically outpace what i have practical access to.

i'm still in the process of evaluating what exactly it is i need to do in terms of my long-neglected medical issues and my educational aspirations. i am currently studying for university entrance exams -- a process that involves me learning an entire language to a university level by november. naturally, basically all of my time is dedicated to this and i have none left over.

i lack basic communication skills both because of the language barrier and because of my completely unaddressed anxiety. i pay more money for lower quality because i can't advocate for myself basically at all at the moment. so i appreciate tumblr's patience on all this.

i came up short last month and haven't raised anything this month because i had to take a mental health break so things are especially tight this month.

this money goes not only to keeping myself fed and housed but also to things like medical costs and eventually getting out of this hostel. so please assist generously.... i have been on and off homeless since i was 17 and there is quite a lot wrong with my situation.

as the movie progresses, he’d be pretty quiet, watching you more than the screen.

won’t forget to drop morbid little comments that makes him sound like a complete sociopath.

the second you show the slightest sign of fear, tate is on full alert. it’s like a switch flips. he might still tease you a little, like “don’t tell me you’re scared of that,”

if you flinch or jump, it’s his cue to wrap you up in his arms, assuring you the scary stuff isn’t real. in some kind of fucked-up way, it’s almost like he enjoys seeing you vulnerable, but only bc he wants to protect you from the scary stuff.

kit would definitely lean toward the hopeful, heartwarming side of things. think shawshank redemption or green book that’s got that feel-good vibe, something that makes you believe in the good of people. he’d also want to watch something uplifting, like the pursuit of happiness or forrest gump—movies where the character fights through adversity and comes out on top.

you’d have a big bowl of popcorn to go with the movie. and a few blankets.

he would be super involved. probably a little emotional, especially with movies that tug at his heartstrings. “this part always gets me,” he’d admit, wiping his eyes discreetly if he got too caught up in the feels.

post-movie, he’d want to discuss the themes and characters. “you see how they never gave up hope? that’s the kind of message we all need.”

frat!kyle’s movie taste would likely be a mix of blockbuster sci-fi and superhero films. he likes action, adventure, the sort of movies you can quote with your friends or wear merch to.

when something cute or magical happens in the film, you’d hear his soft “aww” or “look at that,” because he gets genuinely excited.

james wouldn’t actively seek out movies, sneering about how they lack the depth and refinement of true art forms like poetry or opera.

he’d explicitly detest hollywood, finding it gaudy and tasteless, particularly because of his ex-wife elizabeth’s infatuation with rudolph valentino.

however, if you wanted to watch something, he’d grudgingly agree, more for your sake than his own. his curiosity would be piqued by gory horror films—saw, hostel, or the texas chainsaw massacre.

as the movie progressed and the gore got more creative, his interest would visibly pique. he’d lean forward, eyes narrowing, as if studying the screen like a scholar. might even occasionally pause the movie to dissect a particularly inventive murder, speculating about the tools used or admiring the “execution” (pun intended)

the intricate methods of destruction would catch his interest. he’d remark about the “artistry” of a scene involving a particularly gruesome demise and might even murmur under his breath about how the filmmakers had some semblance of vision after all.

“ah, see how the arterial spray creates that beautiful arc on the wall?” or “the creativity in dismemberment is… admirable,”

he’d almost certainly take mental notes, planning to incorporate some of these techniques into his own macabre masterpieces.

⟢ cult leader .ᐟ 𝐊𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍.

kai would pick something like the social network, the matrix, fight club, or american psycho. we’re talking straight-up incel film bro material.

kai wouldn’t just watch the movie—he’d analyse the hell out of it. he’s the guy who makes watching movies an intellectual exercise but secretly just wants you to agree with him.

would definitely test you during the film, asking, “do you get it?” or “what would you do in this situation?”

the matrix? he’s mansplaining about the red pill and how people are blind sheep in the “system.” the social network? he’s cackling when eduardo gets screwed over by zuckerberg, saying, “he deserved it for being soft.” american psycho? he’d call it a critique of society.

he’d be so obnoxious during fight club, quoting lines like, “the things you own, own you,” and trying to explain to you how it applies to your life.

he’d fw tyler durden HEAVY. unironically.

if it’s a more recent flick, though, it’s gotta have substance. i think he’d enjoy black swan because it’s dark, intense, and shows true artistic struggle.

he’d admire the actors, the cinematography, whatever gives off that “artsy” vibe. if it’s too mainstream or shallow, though, forget about it. he’s not wasting his time on that.

even during the movie, he’d find ways to bring up the “black pill”. “this is why creative people—real artists—need something more than just hard work. black pill, that’s the real key to unlocking that next level of creativity.”

luke would still call citizen kane his favourite movie, but not in a pretentious film snob way—he’s genuinely proud of himself for loving a “classic.” he’d talk about how his grandpa introduced it to him as a kid, and how it gave him the revelation that movies could be more than just entertainment.

his other favourite is the boondock saints, which he doesn’t try to justify with highbrow reasoning.

during movie nights, luke would occasionally point out a few obscure behind-the-scenes facts only because he couldn’t help himself, but otherwise let you watch in peace.

would 100% use the “resting his arm and casually drapes around your shoulder” tactic.

࿇ disclaimer. i know headcanons aren’t supposed to be entirely accurate, but hopefully i’m not too far off. if that makes sense! i’ve divided these into hudson headcanons, and headcanons of hudson and the reader. ࿇ author's note. didn't expect a request after writing eli's, and a 2nd part of one particular scenario/imagine is at work also. requests are still open! thank you for believing in my work.

IN GENERAL...

࿇ Hudson knows how to handle his money. That might be a vague sentiment since financial and business matters are entirely different, but in my own notion, I do think he’s great at managing it. He’s always been shown as a good businessman with Ansan Public—operating bars and introducing systems that could easily hook potential customers. Apart from that, we’ve also seen how he had helped Hostel with their fruit business, which also boomed instantly.

࿇ He could be frugal with his money, but I’d like to think that apart from being knowledgeable when it comes to investing in his businesses, he would gladly enjoy the fruits of his labor. Hence, the luxury fits that highkey remind me of what Taesoo wears.

࿇ Hudson has his moments where his insecurity gets the best of him, but I do think that despite all that, he’s a very confident man.

࿇ He’s levelheaded in business, and in fights too. A lot of people might think he’s pompous because of how he dresses and how he only uses his right hand, but the trust in his abilities and in himself helps him carry out a certain type of aura.

IN DATING...

࿇ Hudson would introduce you to Taesoo first before letting you meet the members of Ansan Public. Sure, they probably heard of you once or twice, but they’ve never actually seen you. He holds Taesoo in the highest regard and so I feel like he would let his senior know who was making his heart beat like crazy.

࿇ And after he does, I think due to their close relationship, I think Taesoo might applaud his disciple for finding love in such a time considering Hudson is involved in gang activities. He’s a part of Allied, and the (gang) wars that he would be dealing with would be inveitable to escape from. So, for Hudson to still choose you and have you in these moments, Taesoo would be proud of him.

࿇ I don’t think he would fail to remind Hudson about the possible consequences though. He might ask him if he’s sure about it since he doesn’t want either him or you to get hurt in the process.

࿇ Hudson will defend you if by some chance he hears someone talking shit about you in public, especially in Ansan. That’s his turf, and if he hears one bad word come out of a measly underling’s mouth at you, he wouldn’t take it lightly.

࿇ He cares for you—deeply—and for him to hear such disrespect towards you would make him visibly upset.

࿇ If you two go on dates, he would focus on you, of course. But the businessman in him would lowkey check out the menu—the drinks, food—including the ambience of the place; the likes.

࿇ Though I do think he would enjoy it a lot more if you share the same interest—like improving the businesses he owns, or at least listen to him talk about it.

࿇ He would listen to your suggestions. You tried a new mocktail that you think would be a hit in his bars? He’s listing it down no matter how funky the name is. You saw online that there’s a new trending theme in karaoke rooms? Trust he will be renovating them. You have a suggestion for the Ansan Public reward system? Lay it down for him and he’ll see if it’s plausible.

࿇ It’s inevitable that you’ll be worried about him, and so he does in best in reassuring you that he will be fine. But if it comes to a point that he gets severely beaten up, he will listen to you while you let out your frustrations. He’s used to it—you aren’t.

࿇ He’s not the type who will spoil you with expensive gifts, but once he does get you something in that kind of bracket, it’s genuinely something that reminds him of you.

࿇ You’ll probably develop some kind of hand-care routine for him. Hudson might get a little worried about what you’d think about his rough hands, especially his right, but you wouldn’t really care while you rub lotion or whatever moisturizer you have for him.
