18+ | GENERATION KILL | BRAD X NATE
Obviously in search of some Brad x Nate roleplays from a lil HBO war show called 'Generation Kill'.
I've picked up Nate as a muse recently and wouldn't mind being able to write him.
I look forward to rewriting the show from a romantic war perspective, aka, the ship we were so very clearly denied.
I welcome all prompts, playlists, moodboards, lifelong discussions of the development of ships.
I prefer to write on discord as it's a lot more organised than on tumblr.
Nothing is off limits to me. It's war, after all. I do thoroughly enjoy putting them through all the hurt as long as there is comfort to follow and a little... NSFW.
Thank you!

How the CR cast members/their characters generally tend to handle in-game hostile conflict:
Ashley: Fuckfuckfuck, who and where am I, what is D&D
Sam: I will solve this all by myself, or I will die trying
Taliesin: *Diplomatic intimidation*
Travis: *Literal military strategy*
Laura: I have a Plan™
Liam: Step away from my found family or perish violently
Marisha: shhhhhh gotosleep gotosleep gotosleep

one of the more frustrating things about marvel is this assumption that assassin = spy and it's not??? really the same??? they have different skill sets and you want them for different reasons. bucky and nat are the best examples of assassins and spies, respectively. the purposes and reputations of both nat and bucky are complimentary (which is why they’re a good team) but ultimately completely different.
nat was meant to be a spy during a period of time when outright assassinations were less useful than intel. murder attracts notice. and as information becomes more valuable and more distributed, killing one person (or even a few people) doesn’t stop an idea or a methodology from continuing to develop. the best solution is to get the intel for yourself and use it before someone else can use it against you–or, failing that, blackmail them to hell and back. that’s where your spies come in–blending in and being subtle about getting the intel that informs the decision makers what kind of paths are available to them. yes, they should have a set of physical skills to sneak around and defend themselves, but they’re not assassins. muder is generally a last resort and more of a signal of failure than success.
bucky was meant to be an assassin, a highly precision-based weapon. and i think he worked best in pre-computer and pre-internet ages tbh, because like i said, murder attracts attention and doesn’t really stop anything nowadays. his value was in being able to complete his assignments with ease and against great odds, but in also imparting his martial arts training. the idea of an assassin training spies is good in the fact that now the spies have the ability to take sb out quickly before they come to harm if their cover is completely blown–but planning to use it as a first option or as an end goal of a mission would be a mistake. murder would be a spy’s last, most desperate resort. meanwhile, murder is an assassin’s bread and butter. for assassins, sneaking and intel gathering are supporting the main mission of killing someone. they don't also hang around afterwards, and generally the overall mission is much shorter--maybe a few days, if it's really complicated. spies could be undercover for years or more, depending on the mission.

i don't think it's necessarily a superpower per se, but bucky does have pretty good luck.
now before y'all jump all over me, lemme explain--
the boy gets caught on a plane rigged to explode, and all he does is lose an arm? lucky.
he gets brainwashed by russians, but happens to meet a woman who, years later, will help him through the worst of his regrets? lucky.
gets sent to kill his best friend while brainwashed and happens to break thru the brainwashing and not kill his best friend? lucky.
gets put on trial and has his actions understood by the judge and an incredibly lenient sentencing? lucky.
gets sent to a gulag and breaks out at just the right time to run into nat who was on her way to save him? lucky.
goes to therapy and it works? lucky.
