“Toby/ other characters would be an abuser!1!” A talk on why that pisses me off

Hi. My name is Seirei. I don’t want to share super personal shit on the internet, but due to certain factors in my life I have BPD. (this is NOT self diagnosis. I have been to a professional and for now they think I have this due to certain trauma/ symptoms I’ve shown) This is part of the cluster B personality type. That being said Toby and many other creepypasta characters either canonically have ASPD/ BPD or it’s a generally accepted headcanon that they do. Now this in itself doesn’t bother me if it’s done well and with research. But the problem is most ppl just slap these labels onto them without doing the proper research. I’ve gotten multiple comments on my TikTok like “well I think Toby is an abuser bc he has ASPD/ BPD” I hate that. I hate that so much. You guys say it’s for “realism” but you’re just demonizing mental disorders. You’re demonizing people like me. In you having your “realism” youre hurting me and ppl in the cluster B personality type. ASPD/ BPD doesn’t instantly make you an abuser. These are personality disorders brought on trauma. Especially trauma with parents/ family. People with ASPD/ BPD know that we’re not well all the time. We’re suffering from disorders that affect our lives. From trauma/ experiences that we didn’t ask for. These are DISORDERS. These aren’t fake edgy illnesses that you can slap onto a character with no thought when you want them to be angsty. For example when ppl say “Toby would be an abuser/ not be capable of love because of his ASPD and he went through abuse in his past” not only are you taking away the depth of his character, you’re just straight up demonizing mental disorders. If you read his story, he loves his mom and sister so much. People with ASPD can love. But it does cause him to be obnoxious and rude. But this isn’t coming from a place of malice. He’s a traumatized man w a disorder! This isn’t me saying Toby can do no wrong and he’s 100% healthy. Toby definitely has issues and I’d never erase that. But to call him an abuser because he has ASPD is so gross and you’re just demonizing ASPD to be edgy without doing research on it or the cluster B personality type in general. As I said before, people with cluster B personality type KNOW we have disorders. We live with them every day. They affect our lives, our relationships, ourselves. We know that we fuck up and what we do isn’t healthy all the time. We KNOW. We’re not doing it because we’re “abusers” we’re suffering and hurting. Again this isn’t me saying that everyone with BPD/ ASPD is a good person who’s willing to do the work and grow. There are bad people with these disorders. But that doesn’t mean everyone who has them are instantly abusive. I’m not an abuser at all. Never have been and never will be. But BPD does affect me and the way I act that can come off as hurtful/ unhealthy and I KNOW THAT. Im always actively putting in the work to be better, like a lot of people with ASPD/ BPD. Just because we have these disorders doesn’t instantly mean we can’t change/ be better. Doesn’t mean we’re not humans with emotions/ trauma of our own. Toby obviously had to do some kind of inner work to be able to be with Clockwork the way kastoway portrayed them. (If it’s canon or not is irrelevant here)When you say shit like “Toby is abusive bc of ASPD/ BPD” that’s what you’re telling us you think of us. You see us and treat us like monsters but then talk about how much you love Toby/ other characters for having our very real disorder. ASPD/ BPD can be seen as two sides of the same coin. They have so many similarities but are shown in different ways. Do proper research before you talk about mental health because you’re stigmatizing/ demonizing disorders that are already looked down upon. Toby does canonically have ASPD and possibly BPD but it’s written into his character pretty well(as well as a 13 year old in the 2010s can do) and now that ppl are older we can actually analyze his character/story correctly. But Jeff and many other characters still aren’t getting this same treatment and they need it.Do better.

doing prompts of any day that has already past and combining as i please... tried doing it day by day but i just can't. if you can't do a daily -tober challenge, don't feel bad; i don't even have a real job and i can't keep up with this shit. plus, i feel like doing whatever the hell i want is more in the vein of being cringe, anyway.

i'm really glad there is a resurgence in 00's internet culture (though typing it out, i realize a lot of these prompts are more 2010's, though the aesthetic of the post is more 00s). it makes sense for a lot of reasons. but i think it's also worth recognizing, as someone who grew up in it, this was not some golden past, either. there is no golden past. the internet in the 00's was just as, if not more, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, generally dangerous, and overall shit as it is today. so i encourage people to create a better web and a better world!

bruh.. i just realized the reason 2007-2010 kids are so fucking twisted is bc we were fucking little when FNAF came out and all the little kids were all over that shit so we essentially grew up on FNAF and Creepypasta and like other horror games and shit- like Creepypasta reached it's peak around 2010 and FNAF was released in 2014 and like i remember when i was in 3rd grade everything i did revolved around creepypasta and FNAF and i shit you not i wanted to play any horror game that i discovered- i never grew out of it i still love horror just in general lmao

ill come out and say that, for better or worse, the most notable thing about this game is how much it shows its age.

so, indie games have always been innately countercultural in my opinion. people make indie games because theyre inspired to do something the AAA industry lacks, and a lot of the indie games that pop off into popularity do so because they offer something that mainstream gaming cant. in the current zeitgeist, we can see that best by comparing the innate simplicity and modest of indie games compared to sony's big 10-years-in-the-oven blockbuster. thats not to say indie games dont have work put into them, id never say that the year after pizza tower and sea of stars game out, but those are video games for gamers, not cinematic experiences for the general public

all this is to paint a picture of the mid-aughts, where gamers were freaking the fuck out about their hobby being made casual. the industry didnt want to cater to the same closed circle of hardcore dedication forever, and wanted to follow the wii's success by making gaming something everyone can enjoy. in other words, less call of duty, more wii sports. also unignorable is super meat boy hitting the shelves in 2010. i bought a copy from walmart as a kid (a physical disc that made me download steam to play it) and was shocked by the difficulty and the humour trying way too hard to be offensive. woah, an aborted fetus is the bad guy, youre just like the kid in my class whos mean to girls for attention. either way, it was a runaway success, and set the standard for indies to be rude & tough even if they werent directly inspired

so, ben and ed happens. an unflinchingly difficult platformer that has a meanspirited and gross edge to it. and yeah, this sure reads like someone wanted to make a difficult game all right. it's not I Am Bread levels of fuck-you-just-because, but it still feels like it cares more about being hard than being fair

like, the penultimate level has buzzsaws swinging back and forth across a pit of acid that the platforms dunk you into sometimes. add some laser sharks and we have an avgn bit. but it doesnt feel like ive been given a fun challenge here, just something hard for the sake of saying "look at me i did a tough thing" to all my friends. it doesnt feel intrinsically rewarding to overcome, because the difficulty is cheap

also, in the very same level, you can press tab and ragdoll under everything for like... two minutes straight. thats not hard, dude.

my final conclusion is that this game feels like its chasing trends from the time and doesnt hold up as a result. maybe itd feel less like that if the game didnt have the same "look at me im so dark and yucky" vibe that every newgrounds game had? like, the premise of kidnapping a zombie and making them play wipeout is already bleak enough, you dont have to make the antagonist jontron with acne and litter the game with ads for meat-flavoured dentists or whatever the fuck.

to close this off, i think this whole thing can be summarized by saying if you know about this game in the current year, at least if youre anything like me, you probably know about markiplier losing his shit

whats at the end? ...a facebook link, to a page trying to kickstart an ARG that fizzled out due to lack of interest and seemed to just be a roundabout reference to a creepypasta from almost 15 years ago.

Chronic pain (Again, lower back and foot pain, pain in my limbs that feels like it's in the bone, headaches almost everyday and I know my reports say otherwise but it's still a daily thing I'm just stupid and forget to go the school nurse for my meds, also I chug liquid Tylenol like it's from the fountain of youth and I get finger joint paint and the bone and joint pain I try to relieve by cracking my joints but it either doesn't do shit or makes it worse)

Fatigue (Sleep issues already mentioned, my limbs sometimes feel tired and it's only the limbs, I'm in my bed like 90% of the time and idk how voluntary it is anymore)

Live with my 71 yr old grandma who's been my primary caretaker since shortly after I was born

Grandpa is alright (was a neglectful shithead towards his own kids though) but him and his current wife (Not my grandma) are transphobic but unknowingly affirm my name change because my grandma masked it as wanting to distance myself from my mom

Oldest uncle likely had bipolar 1 disorder (undiagnosed because neglectful dad and mental health stigma shit) who committed suicide on my mom's birthday/about a month after I was born

Currently living uncle is kinda anti-vax (he said that a coin stuck to his skin because COVID vax made him magnetic or something and if that were true people who work with screws would get a shit load of boosters) and not the best but there's absolutely worse so yeah

Mom likely has ASPD (also undiagnosed but idk my grandma reading the opening section of the Wikipedia article for ASPD and says it's literally her then I think that's pretty damn close but idk I'm dumb, also I don't hate people with ASPD I hate people who are garbage regardless of reason) and had (also likely still has) a drug addiction (heroin specifically). She found out she was pregnant because she got caught in a sting and purposefully swallowed 10 balloons of heroin and when they did an ultrasound to see if any were in her stomach/intestines/whatever there was a stupid dumb baby (me), and she did not stop doing heroin throughout the pregnancy. This led to me being born addicted to heroin and went through a withdrawal that notably consisted of a seizure minutes after being born, and when I was taken back to her room like right after being born and before the seizure she literally said "I don't want her*, give her* to mom." So uhhh yeah, also unsurprisingly she gave 0 shits about me and pawned off a Barbie airplane I got for Christmas 2017 for drug money (though being 7 fucking years old, I thought it was cigarette money because the place she was staying at had ash imbedded into the carpet)

My relationship with my cousin is weird, but the things of note are that he used to watch wrestling and would try to perform moves he saw on TV on me (he's 3 years older than me so he wasn't going to kill me or anything, but probably wasn't super pleasant), when I was 9 he was playing bitlife and wanted to act out the shit his character was doing and his character got someone pregnant and he wanted me to lie in his bed in front of him and I said no (he asked me a couple times and tried reassuring me that he wouldn't dry hump me but I was super uncomfy and at least he didn't actually force me to do it so that's good maybe), I'm pretty sure he either put a pillow on my ass and slapped the pillow repeatedly or he slapped my ass with the pillow repeatedly (either way I was laying on the floor), he flashed me at least once after he took a shower because he covered the trampoline in soap and asked me if I saw his dick and I refused to answer because I just wanted to play with his Mario chess set (did not use that shit for chess, I was a dumb kid rping with chess pieces lol), and he showed me his dick on the trampoline. I'm probably slandering him by only saying that kinda shit about him but idk we don't talk much anymore so yeah

No clue who my dad is and it's not the guy I got my last name from (if you know me irl you'd know that my grandma's last name and mine are different and it's not because she's married), I have a hunch though

Rex was the guy who I thought was my dad for a while, he was roped into drug addiction by my mom but he did infact give a shit about me (though he was better suited as the fun uncle than a dad but I'll take what I can get), he would take me with my mom to "the corner store" which was probably a dollar tree/general/family and but me mike and ikes and now n laters while my mom would buy cigarettes for both of them

Susan, Rex's mom, used to try and spoil me because she actually had money (I love being poor /s) and she bought me the Barbie airplane from earlier and an entire Barbie dream house but she let my mom (and maybe Rex idk) mooch off of her and she got evicted from her apartment (the one with the ruined carpet, that shit would stain my feet when I walked on it), so she moved in with her dad and had to offload her old cat Spazzy to us because cats weren't allowed there I think so that happened but before she got evicted she would let me stay up when I stayed the night at her house and I'd watch adult swim and robot chicken gave me nightmares I think and I wanna watch that one show that was probably written by someone with 10 bongs in their mouth (which probably doesn't narrow the list down at all)

My best friend I met at a preschool that was also a church and I literally just went up to them and asked "wanna be friends" and they said yes and their life has probably changed for the worse because of me so yeah, their brother has autism so they probably do too but their parents haven't gotten them tested soo but they used to take my shopkins beanie from me (it was playful, id run after them and I'd get it back) and so I did that with their pink beanie back for a while and there was this thing where they'd act like my robot and I could command them to do shit and they'd give me stupid error messages (god recalling this shit makes me miss being a stupid idiot child) and it was super fun I think and gay and then in 6th grade I had like no classes with them until I got the surgery then I had 2 including ela and then in 7th grade we had a couple of classes and this year we literally have 0 other than lunch and if I have a dollar for everytime the school I was going to had a different principal come in because the last one was upgrading their position in the school district in the last year that I was going there and made me have no classes with my friends id have 2 bucks and 5th grade sucked kinda because of that

Sailor (who I'm name dropping because istg if you don't use Tumblr by now then what are you doing with your life) was someone who I shared classes with for a little while, we went separate ways in like 3rd and 4th grade and then in 5th grade the school therapist mentioned them to me bjt they changed their name so I was confused and then she invited us to lunch in her room and there was this "YOURE TRANS TOO???" moment we both had and then we reconnected and then 6th grade was kinda a disaster but we still had each other then they got accepted into an alternative school so we lost contact in 7th grade and then we reconnected at pride this year and we played ponytown together for like 5 minutes (which lead to me finding a really cool lavender infection rp and I ended up adding the person who started it on discord) and we went to the gay youth center thing together this year as well and I've sent them stupid TF2 shit and I think they're a system now which is cool I think idk I'm a singlet lol

There's this other friend who I know I had history prior to 6th grade but we really only reconnected in 6th grade because we had a tech class together and during a 7th grade field trip to the zoo I got their phone number and also sent them stupid TF2 shit and I see them sometimes in the hallway because both of us use the elevator at school so uhh yeah also they're a little hard to understand but I'm also stupid so that might be why (I'm not trying to be a dick my brain just needs a minute to process what they say I'm sorry)

Happy Tree Friends was commissioned by youtube to make a PSA about their fair use policy. hardcore cartoon gore was generally more acceptable back in the day. as were overtly sexual themes, thus all the bikini models in old smosh thumbnails. really, if you want a semi-accurate depiction of what "internet cartoon comedy" looked like, you can just look at the parodies of it like that pig guy on drawn together.

but for real examples, i'd honestly just look at classic newgrounds. Pico and the crew have all manner of fucked up shit going on, there's a popular dress-up game where your subject is a dead baby(dead baby jokes were REALLY fucking popular actually), i'm not even sure how you describe salad fingers... for an extra dose of pre-2010s internet, you can read some of the world's beloved overdone creepypastas. skibidi toilet is along the lines of TF2 SFM videos, ASDF movie, and charlie the unicorn. yes, it's weird and annoying and a wee bit disturbing if you're unfamiliar with such things, but it's literally fine.

I want to start by saying: I know almost nothing about Tourette's syndrome and don't know anybody who has it. If I get anything wrong, please please please correct me. I wanna get this right for you lovelies. Thank you <3

Now, what I do know about Tourette's, is that there are two types of tics: motor and phonic. I believe Toby has more motor tics than phonic. I know he's portrayed as stuttering and twitching/moving rapidly at the same time, but I don't think he has as many phonic tics as we think

I do however, think he has a natural stutter. He was bullied in grade school, and as a fellow bullied child, I can confidently say that he developed the stutter then. I will die on this hill.

His personality is also not at all that of a child, who spends all his time screaming and laughing just for the hell of it. He's unhinged, yeah, but not in the oblivious child way. More of the sadistic way for very obvious reasons.

He's more so reserved, just kinda comes and goes. There will be points in time where he decides to be super obnoxious and fuck with other pastas in the mansion, but that's moreso purposely picking fights and intentionally being annoying than whatever the hell fanfic writers wrote in the early 2010's.

He does have bipolar disorder, so he'll lose his shit when he decides to fuck with people and they fuck with him back. It turns ugly really fast.

With his CIPA (Cognitive Insensitivity to Pain), obviously he cannot feel when he gets injured on missions, or if his motor tics cause him any pain. He won't really give a shit if he finds an injury, and won't really take any steps to go to Eyeless Jack either to get patched up. Either someone else will have to bring him, or Jack will have to hunt him down himself.

Speaking of Jack, he was able to fix up the left side of Toby's mouth when he came to the mansion. Fixing Toby's injury and Jeff's face were the first two things he did.

Toby still chews on his hands and the insides of his mouth, just out of habit or if he's stressed/upset about something.

He doesn't have a reaction to fire, really. He doesn't like dwelling on the past + he's ready to just keel over and die at any moment, so it doesn't really matter to him.

Being called "Ticci Toby" angers him to no end. You will die if you call him that, no exceptions.

Toby didn't really look for love after joining the mansion

Like I mentioned above, he's ready to die at any point, so he finds it kinda pointless to get a partner if he's just gonna die soon

He noticed when you joined the mansion, but he didn't actually say anything to you until you'd been there for some months. He doesn't particularly associate himself with people in the first place, let alone people he newly "meets."

He's not very friendly at first, but being nice to him even through his obnoxious moments and horrendous mood swings and even going so far as to try to help him (he won't let you in the moment but he'll reflect on it later), it'll get you in his good graces

Being blindingly nice won't just get you in romantic territory. If he sees you being an actual person around others while just being super nice with him, it's going to make him think you're not genuine.

Just be yourself around him. When he sees you treat him the same as the others (with genuine kindness and respect) and not like he's some freak, it'll get you brownie points.

Toby doesn't realize he's insecure and thinks it's normal to get super jealous super easily. His parents didn't have the best relationship and most internet media of relationships is toxic in itself, so you'll have to be the one to sit down with him and lay out your boundaries. Even then, he'll frequently cross them.

It's not because he doesn't respect you or love you. He does. Just sometimes he wants to move the relationship a little faster, or he's impatient and wants kisses when you're with the others, or he's just plain forgetful.

Again on the jealous point though, he's going to get very upset if you don't notice he's jealous. In his mind, it's very obvious. Eventually he'll get so upset that he yanks you away from the people, cusses them out, then storms off with you and slams every door he goes through for extra measure. He's then going to cry as he holds you, apologizing and saying he didn't mean it and he was just scared you were going to leave him.

He doesn't let you be with your other pasta friends without lurking in the background, watching yours and their every move. He loves you and just wants to make sure you're okay. Happily accepts you back into his arms when you're done.

The only time you'll be able to hang out with friends outside the mansion (without him watching you) is when Toby is away on missions. If you befriend the right pastas, they'll cover for you. If he's not away though, he's very likely going to be stalking you and your friends in the background.

Toby doesn't care if you give him PDA or not, he just wants to be near you and do what he wants in the moment. Once he realizes he has feelings for you, he's going to be clinging to your side.

Loves when you show him physical affection and attention without him asking.

He also loves when you involve him in things you like. He might not participate in it, but the fact that you thought of him makes him happy. His favorite thing is eating some snacks while cuddling on his bed and watching some show you love.

Toby by himself just kinda exists. Toby in a relationship with you just kinda exists, but he wants people to know that you only exist with him.

For obvious reasons, Toby is a fucked up individual, and a relationship with him will always be toxic in some aspect. Everyone in the pasta mansion is fucked up, and very few will have healthy relationships. Yes, we love the pastas anyway, but we cannot fix them, so just keep that in mind lovelies <3

It was about analog horror and it starts w one of those horrendously generic monologues about how so and so has existed for centuries that is the mark of someone who doesn't know how to start and essay and very likely has nothing interesting to say. "Since the dawn of civilization humans have experienced fear" <- if the first sentence of your essay sounds anything like this you should burn it to a crisp and start over.

And then he goes like "we used to avoid fear, however in the 20th century people started making horror movies at which point we started making ourselves scared on purpose" which is ???? I literally can't even imagine how braindead you need to be to think that movies invented horror and I can't imagine saying that people never thought of doing something like that until the 20th fucking century and not finding anything weird or wrong w that sentence. Literal "has never read a book before" behavior.

And then he says the first horror movies were all slashers??? And the first one to break the mold was THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT???

And after gritting my teeth through all of this he gets to talking about creepypasta (bc the video is about an internet horror genre) and he says "creepypasta has been a long lasting phenomenon that has enjoyed a good 20 years before the first cliches started showing up" or something which, even at the most generous estimates of when creepypasta started and when creepypasta tropes really solidified into "cliches" that's really fucking debatable. It's only really true if you consider that creepypasta started in the 90's w the chain email era and that the cliches only became identifiable in the early 2010's but no one actually does that. Most people consider the "official" cutoff point to be the publication of Ted the Caver in 2001 and I'm p sure people started complaining about formulaic writing from the moment it became widespread enough for talentless people to try their hands at it. That is an absurd assertion.

This shit left me so incensed I p much had no interest in whatever he had to say abt analog horror. Even assuming that the guy happens to be knowledgeable about analog horror and just front loaded it w this whole bullshit cuz he felt he had to in order to come across as professional, it is literally disgraceful to try to write something like this, trying to project a position of authority on any kind of horror when you can't be bothered to learn the bare minimum about the history of horror as a whole. If there is nothing I hate more in our modern era is the absolute misconstruing of certain retro things. But more so 80s and 90s aesthetic stuff in general, I guess. I think we've all seen some form of media in the past decade or so that tries to emulate that aesthetic and its just become more and more saturated as time moves on. I get SO fucking tired of seeing synthwave shit or people being like "wow the 80s were SO corny and radical everything was so bright and ugly haha" and everything has to be showered in ugly neon and every person has to wearing stereotypical 80s clothes or whatever. Like, it is so tiresome.

Stranger Things has been such a massive contributor to this whole notion where everything is super faux and drowned in nostalgic symbols and theres no thought or reason put into any of it. I simply refuse to watch Stranger Things because all I know about it is its utter reliance on tickling the nostalgia gland of braindead Millenials who put on rose-tinted glasses whenever they consume a piece of media.

The thing that prompted me to write this schizo rant tumblr post was the increasing amount of "analog horror" shit that flooded YouTube for awhile that was all produced by indie movie dropouts and consumed entirely by young zoomers. That whole culture and the stuff around it is an entire big ass clusterfuck of a subject that raises my blood pressure whenever I think about it. It's all just lame and lazy. People made shitty creepypastas back in the early 2010s and now its back, but with a faux VHS filter slapped over it. Its all just so soulless.

This is just 7 am me rambling on about shit I despise, but if you wanna extrapolate a point from this rant, I feel like subtley and genuineness is just way better than going all out on the bombastic and more popular parts of an era. This goes for all eras in the 20th century. If you can do it really well and actually capture the look and feel of that era it feels so much better. It just FEELS more genuine and whatever twist or spooky horror thing you wanna throw in there will actually feel better.

I know I am GROSSLY over-simplifying and putting shit into arbitrary categories, but I'm not the only one who sees this.

I started the concept art for The Abyss (my creepypasta au) back in 2020. When I was a wee lad, I liked them. 2020, I started liking them again.

Specifically attached to the fun, fandom interpretations, but I wanted to make a legitimate story as well. It's going through a major rewrite right now because I finally got caught up on Marble Hornets. I never could watch it all the way through, so I just did the Night Mind reviews.

We've gotten this far on it:

Pitch

There's an alternate plane of existence that is practically outside of human comprehension.

This alternate plane is dubbed 'The Abyss' because it is nowhere and everywhere at the same time.

The beings that exist within it consist of humans, demons, celestial beings, eldrich horrors, Jeff, mostly the basis for the creepypastas that ruled the 2000's-2010s

All of these people are like pest control, but for humanity

They go reap the souls of the damned to please their 'master' or as we know it, the Slenderman

Setting

Set in modern-day (2020s)

The Abyss is a realm that is kept in a night like darkness at all times

To match the nostalgia and uneasiness of the Slender games and Marble Hornets series, a wooden area with abandoned locations is the option that makes the most sense

Uncanny phenomenon

Abandoned buildings and ghost town ambiance, and because the Abyss doesn't have a start or end, thousands of residents are spread to make only a few people occupy each location (to get from place to place, it's a bit of a walk)

Magic System

Death is almost impossible (cannot succumb to injury or sickness), the only thing that can kill in this plane is the 'master'

Limbs cut off in the Abyss can be reattached or grow back, and by proxy (heheheh) wounds heal incredibly quickly

Portals to various locations on the 'Surface' (the real world)

The dead can be reanimated if the 'master' wishes.

Time is a bit of a flimsy concept, nothing too drastic, though

Plot One Concept

A good number of years have passed since Tim Wright ended everything alone and disappeared

The master of he Abyss has been trying to assimilate him for this long, it isn't going to stop now

After years of it trying to find him itself, it turns to its proxies and begrudgingly other residents

Hijinks ensue

Plot Two Concept

In the midst of the manhunt race, a new group of people are introduced and they are all teenagers and fucking idiots

Younger generations of future proxies, generally late teenagers, need to be taught the rules and regulations of the trade in order to survive and, therefore, need a teacher. Their teacher, Briar-Rose, isn't that great.

"The best kids that can utilize their skills to track down this missing asset (so I can win a bet) will get whatever tf they want"

Winners of this 'best kids' contest are Ben, Cody, and Toby

All three of them get stuck together, they don't really like each other because socialization isn't really a needed skill, and holy shit the pressure (+ weird, undead resident Jeff likes annoying them and new arrival Anthony won't leave them alone)
