After a long day of work in the lab, there was only one thing that would provide Anko with the energy required to continue about her day. Well, two, but Genma had plans with Raido today so sex was out of the question for the time being.

Which left her with dango as the treat of choice. Five sticks were enough to get her by, but there was a tiny problem. Well, actually it was a rather large problem.

“Come on,” tilting her body a little left, she glared down the line-up. There were at least twenty people in front of her still, which meant another ten minutes minimum before she got her hands on some delicious dango. “I should have left the lab earlier.”

Perhaps she would have avoided this whole mess if she had just called it quits a bit sooner, but her current research was too interesting to just forget about because she was a little hungry.

“Curse my love for poisonous snakes,” she grumbled, shuffling forward when the line began to move. It didn’t get very far before stopping once more, but she was happy that there was at least some movement. “Why couldn’t I be born loving something boring like training?” At least then she would be less inclined to work late and would get to the dango shop when there was no line-up.

Feeling a spike of chakra directly behind her, she sighed. The only time she really felt other people’s chakra was when they focused it in a way that made it easy to feel, unlike poisons, chakra sensing wasn’t something she was very good at, and there was only one person who did that with her.

“You’re hovering,” leaning her head back, she scowled up at Gemma and his handsome face. “I thought you were hanging out with Raido?”

“I am,” Genma pointed towards the street. Following his signal, she glanced in the direction he directed and smiled when she saw Raido standing there patiently waiting for Genma’s return. “I just happened to see a pretty lady who looked like she was suffering.”

Suffering was the appropriate description of her current feelings.

“I’ll be happy once I get my hands on some dango,” it might take forever to get to the front of the line, but the prize waiting for her at the end was well worth the wait. “Go have your fun. I’ll be fine here in this endless line, wasting my life away.”

It sounded rather pathetic when she said it like that.

“If you insist.” draping his arms over her shoulders, he pulled her back against his body and leaned down to press a kiss against her nose.

She couldn’t help but scrunch her nose up when she felt his lips touch it. “Gross.”

“Love you too,” releasing his hold on her, he took a step back. “Try not to kill anyone for quick access to dango.”

“Oh,” her ears perked up. “Maybe if I-”

“Anko…”

“Just a little poison,” the people directly in front of her shuffled away, their eyes watching her carefully. “No one in this village is any fun.”

Giving his head a shake, Genma turned his back to her. “No poisoning anyone,” he clarified as he made his way back towards Raido. “Be Good!”

She snickered when she heard those last two words. If there was anything Genma knew without a doubt, it was that Anko was never ‘good’. Good was boring, and Anko wanted dango now.

He couldn’t really blame her for what she did next.

After all, how was she supposed to know that summoning a six-foot-long snake was going to send everyone in the line running?

It wasn’t her fault no one appreciated how cuddly snakes were.

Summary: 

Wealth, fame, power. Genma Shirunai set out to gain this and everything else the world had to offer. Somewhere along the way he made a powerful enemy in Anko, but when a greater foe comes along they will be forced to work together. 

Excerpt 

“I think it’s time for us to set sail. Where is the rest of the crew?”

“They should be about done loading The Nation.” Raidou answered, now standing next to his captain. 

Genma wrapped an arm around his first mate, and began to lead him down the alley at a leisurely pace. 

“We really should hurry,” Raidou urged. “Anko’s going to be pissed if she finds out you were with another member of her crew.”

“You worry too much,” Genma answered breezily, peaking around the corner before darting into the dimly lit street.  

They worked their way to the docks, doing their best to stay in the shadows, and out of her sight. But it wasn’t enough. Just when his boots met the wooden planks that formed paths over the water, she screamed. “God damn it, Shiranui! I’ve told you to stay the hell out of Takumi.”

I just finished reading Laro and enjoyed it very much ♥️. I have a couple of questions about the story, if you're open to answering them :)

• Mira cautiously looks in the general direction of the kitchen. "Well, it's not everyday she gets to play games like these anymore. Let's let her have this."

But now that Sakura finally figured out that teaching AP Biology in high school is something she actually wants to do, Kakashi is all that is left

HIIII!!!!! So psyched to know u enjoyed that lil piece?? That whole thing evolved from a oneshot idea I had of KakaSaku playing Filipino games lmao 🥰🥰 n of course I'm always happy to answer questions abt my fics!!!!

On the first excerpt:

Don't worry, Sakura is just fine 🥰🥰 The reason she doesn't get to play kids' games or parlor games as much anymore is because she and Kakashi are retired and left by themselves in Kakashi's childhood home (which is now their Big Hatake Clan's ancestral home). Their friends from childhood have moved on (YamaGai prolly settled somewhere overseas. ObiRin and GenAnko moved to different places). Meanwhile, their kids have long moved out and started their own families and only come home for the holidays so it's usually v quiet in the Hatake household.

Kakashi and Sakura definitely get competitive doing the most trivial things (who can fold the most laundry, who can find the remote first, etc.) but Sakura definitely misses the energy of playing with a lot of people. But she's grown a lot weaker with age and probably can't play most games that require a lot of activity. So when she sees an opportunity to mess with her kids play, she takes it.

On the second excerpt:

Now is prolly a good time to bring up that I imagined this to be set in the 80s (Hence, no cellphones; emails aren't that common yet so KakaSaku have no way of reaching other than by letter when she moves away. They end up not writing to each other though lmao).

I imagined Kakashi's job is something that has to do with sitting in front of a computer all day... say statistical analysis and data reconfiguration? Yes, that is totally a reference from Friends. If you've watched Friends, then you totally know that Chandler (whose job is statistical analysis n whatnot) is not actually fond of his job. He was probably good at it if he lasted as long as he did but the thing is... he half-asses it. He doesn't really care for it. So that's something I imagined Kakashi was feeling at his old job. And that's why I feel he'd be doing something similar lmao

it's a pretty close call honestly. Genma is as quick as i am cunning. he definitely overpowers me in hand-to-hand combat when we're sparring. not too long ago we really got into it on a bad day and took our dispute to the training grounds. we went all out, no-holds-barred. i took a nice chunk of his flesh and won by submission. Genma lost that bet and had to serve dango to the village on his day off 😈

Anko vs genma Who would win and why?

@idreamofdango wanna weigh in on this? I think it depends on who gets hit first. I’ve got her in physical strength, stamina, and poison resistance. She’s got me beat in agility and out right creativity. We’re pretty evenly matched for speed when we’re fresh, and she has summons.

Anko is the one who teaches Genma about poisions and how to use them most effectively. She even teaches him to put poision in his senbon, without accidentally poisioning himself XD
