crazy that there's a high chance we'll likely be getting z-a news in just a few weeks...

i'd love if we got a little glimpse of the gameplay or at the very least the starters/regional variants (or the new megas? but something also tells me that they'll try and keep those secret to surprise us on release day)

but i'm honestly mostly curious about what time period it's taking place in since i've seen a lot of different arguments. i'd personally prefer if it was the past since i think there's a lot of room for potential world-building since kalos, although poorly executed in the original story, has some of the most fascinating lore in the entire franchise in my personal opinion, so regardless i think we'll be taking a second look at the kalosian war, the origin of mega evolution, and of course, my man zygarde given that it, too, was very underutilized in x/y.

How to Evangelize to Generation Z (the least religious generation): Feed them with what they're starved for!

1) Friendship and Love

Gen Z is antisocial and hookup culture has replaced true romantic relationships. They need long-lasting communities where people can get not only meaningful friendships, but healthy and pure romantic relationships.

Christianity is a foretaste of the Kingdom of God on earth, so the way we "love one another" as the Lord tells us to do so many times is a way we show the Kingdom to the world. The Church must be a factory for grace-filled friendships and communities

2) Meaning and Purpose

Gen Z either gets meaning from success or mere pleasure. The church must provide them the true gospel: that objective and eternal meaning can only be found in Jesus Christ, who is forever!

Everything modern people put their ultimate meaning and hope in, like money, success, sex, and temporal pleasures, can all fail and can never last forever. Even wholesome things like family and friendships can fail. So without hope grounded in something eternal and indestructable, there can be no hope. Which is why Jesus, the eternal King, is the only source of eternal hope.

3) Beauty and transcendence

Much of the modern world is ugly and void of connection to anything timeless. They starve for internal and external beauty, such that people in the Church can feel connected to 2,000 years of rich Church history and tradition.

Beauty has a remarkable ability to lift the mind above earthly things and toward heavenly things, which is why the Church needs to be an Oasis of beauty in a world of ever-increasing ugliness. Both external and internal beauty matter, but far too many Churches only have one or the other. Beauty is a means by which God reveals Himself to us.

It stands to reason that with search engines now so painfully bad and so much knowledge contained on sites like TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit they ARE often the most accessible ways to do research online. The problem really isn’t the platform. It’s the ability to effectively judge and critique the information presented on it. Google now serves so much mis- and disinformation that it’s at least as hard to find reliable data that way.

What we need is legislation that restores search engines to what they used to be and that ensures that comprehensive digital research skills are taught in schools alongside general source critique skills.

What we don’t need to do is freak out about every headline with the phrase “Gen-Z” in it. Try to think critically. Why was this written? By whom? Was it written to highlight an issue and present solutions? Or was it written to fuel the generational divide that’s already making progress so much harder?

Millennials, Gen-Z. We’re not enemies. Let’s not allow these divisive tactics. If data shows that Gen-Z is struggling with media literacy, how about being a role model and teaching people how to do it instead of just posting about how Gen-Z are incompetent and comparing us to boomers at every turn? That’s not gonna make anything better. It’s just gonna inflame the situation and make it harder to make the world a better place, to the gain of the people in power.

Remember that large portions of Gen-Z are still very young. Young people make mistakes, especially when they haven’t been given the tools to get it right in the first place. Can we try to be a bit patient with each other? Millennials, please try to be patient. We’re immature and still learning and we need your help to find our way in the world. Gen-Z, please try to listen to Millennials. They were here before us. They set the stages for the fights we’re now fighting. They got the ball rolling. They have experience, skills, and maturity that we do not. They don’t always keep up with our fast turns and changing fashions so let’s extend a helping hand to them, too. Help them come along with us into the future. We all want a better world for all of us. That can only happen if we work together to break the cycles of generational divide.

I agree with that stuff about Harry from a human point of view, certainly. I do wish he and Taylor Swift and everyone with a broad social media reach, or actually even just a conscience, denounces Israel and the genocide in Gaza. I want everyone using the word genocide, and not war, because that’s what it is. I want people reading up on the ICC and the UN and speaking up even if all they’re doing is screaming about it on social media. I have a tiny tiny reach on social media and I won’t shut up about it because I cannot believe that no one is doing anything to end this. I am shocked every single day by the evil and I refuse to act like it’s ok just because my country (the US) has publicly committed to supporting Israel because it’s bullshit.

However.

Harry, Louis, Taylor Swift, Niall and fucking whoever else are entertainers they are not world leaders. It’s not fair for me to expect them to be able to change something that world leaders have been unable to solve for more than 70 years by posting. On a human level, I believe it’s the right thing to do. But it’s not their responsibility. Harry owes me music if I buy it, a show if I get a ticket, merch if I buy it and that’s it. He doesn’t owe me solving an international crisis.

BEYOND THAT THOUGH, I absolutely criticize Harry for his continued close friendships with loud extreme Zionists. Ideally he could cut ties altogether, realistically I think he could justify polite professional relationships. Sometimes being an adult means ending personal relationships when you have different values. It’s hard, it’s so fucking hard, but I would end a relationship over avowed Zionism. To me it’s no different than nazism in the 1930s. He’s not continuing to work with these people, he’s pals with Ben. He’s pals with Jeff. He’s close to Irving. To me that’s wrong and I don’t excuse him for these choices.

You're wrong. These superstar celebrities are world leaders whether they like it or not. They don't have any formal powers, but they have more reach, influence and loyal followers, to get people to boycott, engage in causes and start revolutions, than any political leader out there. As someone in that position, you have a responsibility to use your voice and speak up for basic human rights.

So i don't think you can say it's not their responsibility. It is. As human beings we have both civil rights and civil duties. I think the younger generations are only taught their rights and not their duties. You do have an obligation to society to contribute to make sure rights are secured, rules are followed and to help, aid and take care of your fellow humans. It's the job of the people, not the job of political leaders.

It's also one thing to get involved in a political conflict that's existed for decades, and quite another thing to say;

cold blooded mu*der of innocent children = bad

Ethnic cleansing and genocide = bad

Bombing of refugee camps = bad

Ceasefire = good

I don't think anyone expects any artist to dive deeply into this. But i think we can expect that our role models, people we made celebrities because they represent the best in us, people who preach treat people with kindness or who claims to love children, say that murd*r is bad and to use their voice and influence to ask for a ceasefire.

As i've said so many times now, being apolitical, not interested or involved in politics, is a privilege. It simply means that your own rights are secured and that the world is rigged in your favour. It's incredibly selfish and egotistical to not care about injustice done to others and to sit and watch kids get killed because it's not your responsibility to do anything about it. I don't want to support anyone who sits quietly by, with the power to help and do good, who is not doing the bare minimum of their civil duty to help uphold democracy, justice and peace.
