Do you feel like the writing in T90S is worse than in T70S? There are inconsistencies in 3x02 but it's not just that, I feel like the jokes don't land and aren't as well written as in T70S (at least in the early seasons) and some plot lines seem primitive and Disney Channel-y. Do you agree?
T7S seasons 1-5 have an emotionally satisfying amount of depth, which makes the humor hit harder. T9S continues to lack the depth of T7S (that's because of the writing).
The T9S characters don't have the complexity of the T7S characters, which makes their conflicts lack complexity and emotional intensity, which lowers the stakes, which creates an emotional disconnect between me (as the viewer) and the characters.
While I continue to be interested in these characters' stories, I'm not very emotionally invested in them.
The superficiality of the writing is a major cause of the Disney Channel-esque aspect of T9S. Also, T9S has a pedantic aspect that T7S doesn't. Some lessons in T9S are explicitly stated. In T7S, one can learn simply through observing the characters' choices and their consequences. There are no scenes where Character X and Character Y sit on a couch while sappy music plays and the lesson is discussed. The conversations are organic and imperfect.
Subtext, man. Subtext.
Spoilers follow.
Leia and Jay's first time together is literally portrayed in cartoon form. It does not have the emotional impact or intimacy of Eric and Donna's first time in T7S. The scene of Eric and Donna in Eric's room, the song choice ("Dream Weaver"), the way Eric kisses Donna's neck and begins undressing her -- Topher's acting is on point. Through it, we see and feel what this moment means to Eric. How much he loves her.
Donna feeling secure and safe enough to have sex with Eric because of her parents' vowel renewal -- the vows she herself wrote while thinking about her relationship with Eric -- again, the writing is impactful.
I see and hear Eric and Donna's scene in my mind as I write about it, and I'm getting emotional. I'm still affected by it after all these years, and that's a testament to the writing and acting. The build up from season 1. The character and relationship development. The emotional truth depicted in that scene.
Leia and Jay's scene is cartoonish before it turns into an actual cartoon. The build up happens in the same episode where they have sex.
I do appreciate, however, the character development for Jay depicted in the following episode (e.g., sex with Leia actually means something to him; he felt emotions during sex for the first time, and this could be interpreted as him being a high libido sex-enjoying demisexual -- despite that the writers probably don't know what demisexuality is).

Kylie Estrada is the daughter of Godspeed (who she doesn’t know as she’s been raised by her mom and stepfather her whole life) and later becomes Spark after a speed force lightning bolt activates her powers.
She goes by Spark (idk pending name) and her main powers out of super speed is that she can absorb and give away energy (electricity, kinetic, human energy, speed force energy, etc.) the different types of energy she absorbs gives her different boosts and powers, but she doesn’t take energy often especially human and speed force as she knows how dangerous it is.
The flash fam/speed force heroes don’t trust her due to this power and her father so she works really hard to prove herself. Like really really hard.
Before becoming a hero she had an obsessive crush on Impulse/kid flash (ya know Bart in whatever suit he’s in) and tries hard to be normal about it (like imagine if u we’re forced to work around ur fave kpop idol or something all the time like how stressful)

It's been like a year and a half since I watched season 1 of That 90s Show so correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Jay basically tell Leia that he will break up with her as soon as she leaves because he doesn't want to do long distance right before she almost kissed Nate? So technically it falls into more of a grey territory than straight up cheating. I understand how this could be cheating on Nate's side but with Leia it's much more complicated and not as straightforward as "she needs to apologize". Also we don't know the full context of why she said to Jax: "I am not the only one who needs to apologize" because it's hard to know it from a 2-minute trailer.
Jay did plan on breaking up with Leia because he was scared to make a long distance relationship work. Granted, things got messy, but I genuinely believe that he would’ve told her privately and they would’ve worked things out had Nate not blabbed.
But he did end up apologizing in the finale for the break up, even saying that he’d “spend every day making it up to [her]”.
Granted Leia never cheated on Jay, but she still almost kissed his best friend and hid it for nine months. They may not have been dating at that point, but Jay and Nate have been best friends since they were five. And Leia was like, the first girl Jay had a real connection with. So of course he feels some type of way.
And since Jay did already apologize for their breakup, it would be ridiculous for Leia to be referring to that.
However, best case, she may not even be referring to Jay apologizing to her. Leia could’ve been saying that Nate needs to apologize too, but she’d still be taking out her anger on the wrong person. Plus I don’t think that’s the case because Jay was shown to be very pissed at Nate in the trailer and promo pics.
I know we don’t know the whole context, but I genuinely don’t see how there’s any valid argument as to why Leia said that. Maybe Jay actually does need to apologize for something, but that doesn’t change the fact that she literally admitted to "chasing him around", meaning that he probably wanted space to process but Leia didn’t respect that and then got mad at him for not dealing with it the way she wants him to. That’s selfish and only thinking about making herself feel better.
I come off very defensive, but I hate the idea that it’s always Jay who has to apologize in their relationship, that he’s always the one who fucks up, when Leia’s no better.

Heeseung asks you if you'd like to tag along going to the studio and record a new song. You of course accept the invite happily. In the studio, you sit with the producer, observing Heeseung from behind a glass window. He puts his headphones on like he always did, and turns to you and waves him hand your way with a smile, and you blow him a kiss. "What do you think about this?" He asked after listening to the parts with him, his arm snaking around your waist as he pulls you closer to him. "It sounds good, babe." You say, and Heeseung nods, giving you a peck on the cheek.
𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗝𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗦𝗘𝗢𝗡𝗚
You had blurted out that you were craving a stake, and Jay who heard this, made a mental note for later. You returned home from a long day and slumped your weight onto the soft couch, pulling a pillow from your side onto your lap to hug as you loudly exhale and the smell of something cooking in the kitchen catches your interest. You rush over there and see that Jay had plated the table nicely, and in the oven you see something cooking. "Welcome home, babe" he says and you walk over to him, your arms instinctively wrapping around his neck and kiss his cheek. "This is such a delight to come home to."
𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗝𝗔𝗘𝗬𝗨𝗡
You and him played basketball in the soft and crisp evening. Layla tagging along for her walk, now running free from the dog leash. You go and sit on a bench after becoming exhausted from running after Jake who wouldn't let you have the ball. He sees this, and calls out for you, catching your attention so that you'd look at him. "Look!" He shoots the basketball right in the basket before running over to you. "That one was for you, angel!" He cheers, and you clap with him. "I also wanna play, you know?" You point out, and Jake quickly nods before running after the ball and handing it to you with a smile after returning, his hand lingering on yours for a while.
𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙆 𝙎𝙐𝙉𝙂𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙉
You had come home and heaved a sigh from your chest as you threw your shoes to the side. Sunghoon called out, wanting to confirm that it was you. You replied and made your way into the livingroom. "Hey babe, look at this." He says, and you look over at all the shopping bags he had collected during just one day. "Why so many bags, hoon?" You asked him, surprised, but Sunghoon calmly lends you one bag and says, "I really couldn't choose one thing to give you since they all reminded me of you:" You invite him into a hug and he has a geeky smile plastered on his face.
𝗞𝗜𝗠 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗢𝗢
He lets you take his hoodies without saying anything. It was as if it was something natural, an unspoken rule between the two of you. At first, he might've raised an eyebrow at this action, but now? Not anymore. When you spend time together, and he sees that you're freezing, Sunoo throws a hoodie your way. "You're freezing, take this sweetie." You pull it over your head and mutter a soft 'thank you'. When it is time to leave, you accidentally left with his hoodie on and it wasn't until you returned home that you realised it, so you called him to inform him. "No need to give it back. I want you to have it." He says into his phone.
𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗪𝗢𝗡
Jungwon has nice hair, of course. So when you guys cuddle together, him in your arms as you both watch a movie together, your fingers can't help but to be allured to his head. Your fingers comb through each hair strand, massaging his scalp and twirling it around your pointer all while your focus is on the screen. Jungwon moves slightly, and you realised what you were doing and pull your pair of hands away from him. He turns around with an arched eyebrow. "What happened?" He asked. "I thought you didn't like it babe." He giggles and says, "No way, it felt really nice actually." Jungwon hold your hand in his and guides it to his hair.
𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗔 𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗜
Riki takes pictures of you, both when you ask him to and not. You and him checked out some areas in town that no one ever went to because it had been left abandoned for a while. The tunnel you two walked under looked mysterious with all the overgrown roots surrounding it. "This looks interesting." You say, and walk in front of him, letting the excitement lead you. Riki pulls out his phone and snaps a picture, and it somehow ends up really nice. On the other hand, if you found yourself on a fancy dinner, you'd ask, "Please take a picture of me, 'ki." You hand him your phone. "Of course, Pretty girl, since you asked so nicely."

word count: 2.5k
Tumblr media
your office life was a balancing act between emails, deadlines, and… keeping your one-sided rivalry with park jongseong alive. jay(as everyone else called him), with his slightly too-short ties and endearing but tragic fashion sense, was the clueless office geek. he was awkward, quiet, and too nice for his own good. yet, no matter how awkward he was, jay always managed to excel in everything he did, effortlessly snagging the praise you thought should have been yours.
what irritated you most was that jay never seemed to notice your rivalry. he was too busy offering you help or giving you his signature polite, bumbling smile. and sometimes, you’d even catch yourself watching him a little too closely, feeling a reluctant warmth for his harmless, good-guy charm.
one afternoon, you wandered over to his desk, smirking as you noticed his usual setup: notebooks organised to the millimetre, a stack of neatly sharpened pencils, and a sticky note that read “be confident!” in his looping handwriting.
he looked up as you approached, adjusting his slightly crooked glasses and giving you a shy smile.
“hey, park,” you began, leaning casually against his desk. “did you remember to double-check the new client report? i know how thorough you like to be.”
jay blinked, his cheeks turning pink. “y-yeah, i went over it twice… just to make sure everything was right.”
“of course you did,” you replied with a playful eye roll. “wouldn’t want our employee of the month slipping up, now would we?”
he smiled, looking down at his notebook. “just doing my best.”
you shook your head, laughing softly. for some reason, you loved seeing him blush, getting him all flustered with a few well-placed jabs. jay was sweet, awkward, and, despite your constant teasing, he never seemed to hold it against you.
but the next week, everything changed.
Tumblr media
jay showed up to work that monday looking like a different person. gone were the slightly wrinkled shirts and too-short ties. instead, he wore a fitted, charcoal button-down with the top few buttons undone, revealing a silver chain against his collarbone. his sleeves were rolled up, showing his forearms in a way that made you do a double-take. and he’d traded his old glasses for sleek, dark-rimmed ones that suited him way too well, giving him a smouldering look.
you did a double take as he walked by, giving you a casual, confident nod. “morning,” he said, his voice low and smooth. the bumbling, endearing jay you knew was nowhere to be found.
you shook it off, convincing yourself it was just a fluke. but over the next few days, you couldn’t ignore the transformation.
he traded in his ill-fitting clothes for tailored shirts, stylish watches, and a few artfully unbuttoned collars that showed off his neck and a hint of muscle. it seemed like his glasses had now permanently changed, now sleek and sophisticated, accentuating his jawline in a way that made you, against your better judgement, find yourself staring a little too long.
and it wasn’t just his style—jay’s entire demeanour was different. instead of blushing and stuttering, he’d catch you looking, smirking with a confidence that left you flustered.
one afternoon, you approached him, determined to regain some control of the dynamic. “wow, park,” you said, crossing your arms. “fancy new look. trying to impress someone?”
he looked up, a slow smile spreading across his face. “why? is it working?”
your cheeks heated, but you forced a laugh. “don’t flatter yourself.”
“oh, i don’t need to,” he replied smoothly, leaning back in his chair. “you do a pretty good job of that.”
his words left you speechless, your usual comebacks fizzling as he held your gaze with a smirk. flustered, you turned away, cursing under your breath.
when had park jongseong become… hot?
over the next week, his flirtations continued, growing bolder and more direct. every time you tried to tease him, he’d have a response that left you stumbling. gone was the stammering, geeky coworker you used to playfully bully; in his place was someone who knew exactly how to get under your skin, his newfound confidence throwing you off balance.
but one night after work, things took an unexpected turn.
you’d noticed him acting strange, glancing at his arms as though trying to keep something in check. he slipped out of the office quickly that evening, his face tense, and curiosity got the best of you. you followed him, keeping your distance as he made his way down the street, eventually ducking into a dark alleyway.
hiding behind the corner, you peeked around, pulling out your phone and hitting “record” just in case. what you saw left you speechless.
jay was standing in the middle of the alley, his body tense, his hands clutching his head. dark, inky shadows pulsed along his arms, twisting and curling like tendrils wrapping around him. his posture shifted, his shoulders straightening as the shadows coiled around his body, transforming him into something that was equal parts terrifying and mesmerising.
suddenly, jay let out a deep, guttural growl, his face contorting as sharp, gleaming fangs appeared, his once-soft eyes turning pitch black.
“finally,” a rough, raspy voice rumbled, oozing from jay’s mouth with a sinister excitement. “let’s go for a little… snack.”
a cold chill shot through you as you held up your phone, capturing the whole transformation on video. your heart was racing, but you couldn’t look away. whatever was happening to jay was unlike anything you’d ever seen.
as he turned, his gaze fell on the man who’d appeared in the alley, a figure holding a crowbar, his face twisted in anger. jay’s lips twisted into a wicked grin as he stalked toward the man, his voice dropping into a dark, predatory tone.
“ohhh, you picked the wrong guy to mess with tonight,” the voice sneered, dripping with a twisted glee. “i am going to enjoy this.”
the man froze, his face paling as jay’s shadows coiled around him, binding him in place. jay’s grin widened, his fangs gleaming as he leaned in close.
“run along, before i decide you’d make a nice little snack,” he growled, his voice a terrifying blend of jay’s and something far darker.
the man didn’t hesitate, stumbling away into the shadows. but as jay straightened, his gaze flickered over to you, and his eyes narrowed. in a heartbeat, he was in front of you, his inky black tendrils stretching out to trap you, pinning you against the wall.
you swallowed, trying to keep your breathing steady as he loomed over you, his dark, twisted grin sending a thrill of both fear and fascination through you.
“you… got that on video?” he murmured, his voice back to normal but tinged with a rough edge.
you held up your phone, smirking. “every second of it.”
his eyes flashed with a dangerous glint, and he leaned closer, his face inches from yours. “we could just… eat you, you know. save ourselves a lot of trouble.”
you raised an eyebrow, refusing to back down. “please. you didn’t even eat that guy. there’s no way you’d hurt me.”
he chuckled, the sound low and dark, his gaze flicking over your face. “hmm, true… i like you too much for that.”
the words left you breathless, your heart skipping a beat as you stared up at him, stunned. his face softened, a small, genuine smile replacing the sinister grin.
“so… about that video,” he murmured, his voice laced with amusement.
regaining your composure, you smirked, crossing your arms as best you could with his tendrils pinning you to the wall. “i think i’ll keep it… as insurance. you know, just in case you feel like getting hungry again.”
he tilted his head, his expression thoughtful. “so… what, you’re blackmailing me now?”
“exactly,” you replied, your grin widening. “you’re going to help me out with a few things, and i’m going to keep my mouth shut about your… secret.”
jay sighed, the shadows retracting as he released you, though he kept his gaze locked on yours. “fine. but don’t push it.”
you grinned, savouring the thrill of having the upper hand. “deal.”
Tumblr media
over the next few weeks, you took full advantage of your “arrangement.” you had him running errands, fixing things around your apartment, and even carrying your heavy boxes at work. gone was the bumbling, geeky jay you’d known, replaced with someone who wielded both power and confidence—and didn’t hesitate to let you know it.
curiosity getting the best of you one day, you found yourself pulling him aside. “so… about your little… transformation,” you began, eyeing him carefully. “is he, like, a shadow monster or something?”
jay’s eyes widened, and he looked genuinely affronted. “shadow monster?” he repeated, crossing his arms. “he’s a symbiote. and he’s got a name, thank you very much.”
you raised an eyebrow. “a symbiote? i mean, he looks pretty shadowy to me.”
jay sighed, clearly unimpressed with your description. “no, he’s not ‘shadowy.’ he’s a sentient being that forms a bond with his host—me. he’s venom,” jay clarified, the name coming out almost reverently, and with a slight glint in his eye.
“oh, i see. so, he’s a person?”
“well, he has his own… opinions,” jay replied, wincing as he paused. “we’re a package deal, so to speak.”
“damn right, a package deal,” a deep, gravelly voice suddenly rumbled from within jay, and you felt a slight chill as the symbiote made its presence known.
you stared, both amazed and slightly unnerved. “oh… hey there, venom.”
venom chuckled, the sound reverberating low and menacing. “hello, sweetheart. i hear you think i’m a 'shadow monster.' "
jay rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly exasperated, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes as he said, “see? he doesn’t like being called that.”
you smirked, glancing at jay and then back at venom. “got it, venom,” you replied, a teasing lilt to your voice. “no shadow monster remarks. i’ll be sure to remember that.”
that evening, you called him over to help fix a squeaky window in your apartment. when he arrived, his sleeves were rolled up, and those dark tendrils emerged, forming into tools as he worked. you couldn’t help but watch, fascinated as he tightened the screws effortlessly, his movements precise and fluid.
he glanced over his shoulder, catching you staring. “see something you like, darling?” he teased, his voice low, laced with that familiar dark humour.
you scoffed, crossing your arms. “keep dreaming, park.”
jay smirked, his gaze flicking over you with a look that was anything but innocent. “oh, i don’t have to dream.”
your face heated, but before you could respond, he leaned closer, his breath warm against your ear. “you know, all you have to do is say the word.”
flustered, you quickly turned away, ignoring the smug grin on his face.
Tumblr media
one night, as you were heading home from work, you felt someone following you. before you could react, a man grabbed your arm, yanking you into a dark alley. panic surged through you, your heart hammering as you struggled against his grip. but before you could scream, a low, guttural growl echoed from the shadows.
jay emerged from the darkness, his face twisted into a terrifying, fanged grin, his body wrapped in shadows that made him look both monstrous and mesmerising. he moved faster than you’d ever seen, dark tendrils coiling around the man’s arms, pinning him against the wall with a force that made your would-be attacker whimper.
“didn’t anyone tell you?” he snarled, his voice laced with dark satisfaction, his grin widening to show those gleaming fangs. “not to mess with what's ours.”
the man’s face turned ghostly white as he struggled against jay’s grip, terror flooding his eyes. jay’s smirk only grew, his shadowed form tightening its hold as he leaned in close, as if savouring every second of the man’s fear.
“i should just eat you,” jay’s voice growled, laced with menace and barely-concealed delight. “but you’re too pathetic for even a snack.” with a dismissive sneer, he released the man, letting him stumble away in blind terror, tripping over himself as he fled into the night.
when you looked back at jay, his inky tendrils had retracted, his monstrous form dissolving into something closer to the man you knew. yet his eyes still held that dangerous, possessive glint, and his breathing was still heavy, his gaze locked onto you with an intensity that made your pulse race.
“you okay?” he asked, his voice softer now, but with an edge of something raw and wild. his hand moved to rest on your arm, fingers lingering as if to reassure himself you were safe.
you nodded, swallowing as you tried to steady your breathing. “thanks to you…”
a wicked chuckle escaped him, his head tilting as his eyes darkened with a new, eerie glow. you could feel the presence of that “other” entity in him, lurking just beneath the surface. “oh, she’s safe with us,” it rumbled, making your skin prickle. “but i think she owes us something, don’t you, jay?”
jay’s gaze softened for a moment before that twisted smile took over again, his features shifting, the shadows flickering as he allowed his alter ego to take control.
“you really think i owe you?” you asked, trying to keep your voice steady despite the thrill that coursed through you.
“absolutely,” jay, or rather venom replied, his grin widening. “we didn’t just save you. we protected what’s ours. and i think a little… reward is in order.”
you arched an eyebrow, unwilling to back down. “and what kind of reward does a shadow monster want?”
jay leaned closer, his breath warm and tinged with something dark. “i have a few ideas.” he chuckled, his sharp fangs glinting in the low light. “but don’t worry, sweetheart. we won’t bite… unless you ask nicely.”
your cheeks flushed despite yourself, but you kept your cool. “i don’t think you’re as scary as you want me to believe,” you teased, meeting his dark gaze. “you wouldn’t hurt me.”
his eyes gleamed with amusement. “oh, i could… but where’s the fun in that?” he tilted his head, observing you with a dark curiosity. “besides… jay likes you too much. and, maybe… so do i.”
the admission left you momentarily breathless, your heart pounding as you stared up at him. just as you were about to respond, his face softened, his gaze flicking to your lips before he leaned in.
without waiting another second, jay captured your mouth in a fierce, consuming kiss. the roughness in his embrace was offset by a possessive tenderness that made you melt, your hands gripping his shirt as he pulled you closer.
when he finally pulled back, his eyes flickered between jay’s gentle warmth and venom’s dark amusement. “so, boss,” he murmured, his voice laced with that familiar, playful edge, “any other tasks?”
with a grin, you pulled him closer, “i think i can come up with a few.”
jay chuckled approvingly, his voice a husky whisper against your ear. “good… because we’re just getting started.”
and with that, he leaned in once more, his mouth claiming yours in a kiss that promised this was only the beginning of a thrilling, dangerous new game.

LEE HEESEUNG
The unfamiliar feeling of deep green envy bubbles up your chest and straight into your heart as you stare at your boyfriend — who’s familiar lean figure is nestled between Jay and another girl you’ve yet to get to know. And yet here you are by yourself, swept in coldness by the absence of your boyfriend by your side.
It was the first time you and Heeseung had argued since you got together five months ago — a rather long honeymoon phase. Your teeth gnaw fervently on your lips in slight panic, eyes glued on your boyfriend’s figure, overall too consumed with jealousy to notice his lack of comfort.
Even though Heeseung sits squished between two people, the lack of you makes his heart feel cold. And he notices the way your tongue sweeps over your lips, eyes darting away every time your gaze catches his. It’s too cute the way you’re obviously jealous.
“You jealous, baby?” Heeseung whispers, as he pulls you into an empty room, leaving his friend behind, “no need to be, you’re the only one that I want.”
Your lips part ever so slightly at the sudden confession, and Heeseung takes the chance to pull you in, placing his lips on your pillowy ones — slightly swollen from the constant biting. And the ever familiar feeling of his warmth returns back to your heart where it belongs.
“I’m sorry,” you mutter, head dipped down,“I should have listened to you first before jumping into conclusions.” Soft fingertips dance against the skin of your chin as he lifts your head up to kiss you yet again. “I’m sorry baby, I should’ve told you before.”
“I love you.”
PARK JONGSEONG
Your footsteps are hurried as you rush into the nearby pub, eyes scanning around for your boyfriend, only to find him slumped in a corner — eyes half opened, slick backed hair with strands poking out, and tie half undone. His head drooping side to side as his mouth muttered incoherently.
“Thanks for coming, he wouldn’t stop blabbering about you,” Jake said, moving over to give you space to sit next to Jay. He opens his eyes at the arrival of a new touch, cheeks flushed a shade or coral red and eyes glimmering at the sight of you.
“Love,” he speaks out, face housing an uncontrollable, geeky grin as he stares into you, and your heart pumps irregularly in the name of love. “I love you,” he says, fingers tracing your features from your eyes to your lips — and it’s almost like he’s casting a spell the way his touch is so gently intricate.
“I love you, love,” this time he says it more firmly, as if it was a proven fact, something he had known for a long time. And you stare at him, entranced at his very rawness of love, smiling goofily at a side of your boyfriend you don’t see too often.
“Are you not going to say it back?” He frowns, eyebrows furrowed as strands of hair fall back onto his sweaty forehead.
“I love you too.”
SIM JAEYUN
You absolutely regret introducing your friends to Sim Jaeyun with the way they’re clamouring around him, eager to get to know him more — as if you weren’t the one to know him first. His signature styled hair and thick black rimmed glasses that sit perfectly on his nose — the very features that lured you in once now irked you to your very core.
“Where did you get the hot nerd from,” your friend squeals, “can you link me up with him? Heard he’s single.” Your jaw clenches, lips tightly shut as you give her a small smile. Your heart eager to correct her yet your mind telling you to slow down, that you and Jake were nothing other than just friends.
“Sorry, think you heard wrong,” an arm swings over your shoulder, pulling your body closer to his, “this one’s got me.” The deep aussie accent puts you into a daze once again as your head swivels over to look at Jake, lips brushing against his face from the lack of space between the two of you.
“Isn’t that right, princess?” He asks, a mischievous glint in his eye. And all you can do is nod as she leaves the both of you alone.
“Jake? We aren’t in a relationship,” you state, head tilted slightly. And Sim Jaeyun has never seen someone as adorable as you look right now.
“Now that everyone thinks we are, we might as well right?” The cheeky glint in his eyes never leaving as his fingers move to tuck strands of hairs behind your ear, eyes darting from your lips to your eyes and back before moving closer to press his lips onto yours.
“Now that you’ve kissed me, i’m yours forever baby.”
PARK SUNGHOON
Being roommates with the devil’s incarnate might be the harder thing on earth, not to mention how insanely hot he is. The underlying tension and long gazes at each other makes it hard to breathe even in the familiarity of your own house. He invades all your senses — from simple habits of walking around topless to his teasing comments that leave you flustered.
“Leaving so soon?” Sunghoon questions as he steps into the kitchen with you, away from the dining room full of his friends. “Don’t like me that much?” He grins, sharp canine fangs on display.
“Yeah that, and also i’m tired,” you answer back, holding back a yawn of your own. Sunghoon feels his heart sink slightly at the thought of your absence in tonight’s round of gaming — the smile you have when he lets you win. “I’m going to bed now,” you tell him, turning your back around.
“Where’s my goodnight kiss,” he jokes, leaning over the counter, lean muscles on full display under the tank he’s donned. You turn back, face red and flustered at the sudden direct comment — you’ve always thought that Sunghoon was good looking, yet you’ve never really made a move given your relationship as roommates.
“I’m not giving you a goodnight kiss, Hoon,” you lament, tossing the idea of him flirting with you out of your mind. “So you want me to give you a goodnight kiss?” Sunghoon asks, his tone void of any mischief, as his eyes stare into yours with some kind of want.
And suddenly it’s quiet, the muffled laughter from the dining room gone, leaving the two of you in serene tension. Sunghoon’s ring clad fingers dancing against the slight revelation of your waist, cold metal a stark contrast to the warmth between you two.
He bends down to kiss you, and it isn’t a short one off peck — it’s raw and passionate, as if he’s wanted this all his life. And when it finally breaks off, the two of you are left gasping for air.
“I like you,” he says, breathless, “actually I think i might be in love with you.”
This time you pull him into you.

Jay's future DnD friends ⚔️🐉🏰📖🎲
Ah... when you love a sim so much that their lonely moodlets cause you to go make a bunch of friends for them (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
All the nerdy sims i posted last week! Since geekcon is kinda boring, i thought it would be fun to dress them up in cosplays, i also had a lot fun writing some silly dialogues to introduce them. They'll be showing up in all their geekiness glory at Jay's future gameplay screenshots (someday) 🤓
thanks @esotericas-sims for the dnd idea! :D

asking you to the school dance || enha hyung line
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis - how enhypen’s hyung line would ask you to the school dance
enhypen x reader / best friends to lovers / warnings - none! :) / wc ~200 per member
✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉
heeseung is a very straightforward type of man. he’s not shy to share his feelings and wants with you because he knows how important communication is in your friendship. however, for the first time in his fourteen years of friendship with you, he’s struggling to tell you how he feels. “I’m in love with you,” he wants to scream until his lungs give out every time he sees you, but how do you naturally spring that onto a person? tired of not being able to call you his love, heeseung devises a plan to ask you to be his date to the school dance, and, in life. knowing that extravagance isn’t your cup of tea, he carries out his plan on your weekly gaming night so you won’t grow suspicious. he opens minecraft on his tv and tells you to look at the house he had built, only for there to be no house, but the words “can i be your date to the dance?” with a geeky smile he has you look farther to the right of the proposal where another one lay, “...and your boyfriend?”
big and extravagant public attention grabbers aren’t necessarily jay’s thing. he loves to make things intimate and special in his way without eyes always on him. when the winter formal was announced, jay knew he had to ask you to be his date before anyone else could. he invited you to his place for a cozy home-cooked meal made by jay himself. jay is usually a nonchalant type of guy, but he was nearly sweating through his shirt because of how nervous he was. with a little help from his mom, he got you to leave the kitchen while he plated both of your meals, carefully curating the word “FORMAL?” across the rim of your plate with sauce. jay placed the newly decorated plate in front of you after your return from a chat with his mom, a shaky gleam in his eyes waiting for your response. “jay, i’d love to be your date,” you smile at him, pulling him into a hug and leaving a kiss on his cheek that turns him redder than the tomatoes on your plate.
what really sparked your friendship with jake was your mutual love for music. as the two of you grew closer, you would send each other new music to listen to every day. whether it be a new artist, a song, an album, a playlist, or a performance, the two of you always find something that the other would enjoy. you could send a simple “i’m bored” text to jake and he’d have four performance videos, two albums, and three new artists for you to indulge in to cure your boredom. it was nothing out of the ordinary for you and jake to create playlists for each other either, so when he sends a new one titled “hey y/n…” it doesn’t even faze you until it's opened. “I was… Enchanted… To Meet You…” the songs read in order, “So… Let’s Be… The Life of the Party… at Prom?... Be My Date!” you cheesed ear to ear when you realized what jake had just asked you. “P.S. I Like You,” was the last song on the playlist, leaving a whole zoo in your stomach in excitement to tell jake you’ve always felt the same way.
sunghoon is the corniest dude you have ever met in your life. there’s never a day where he’s not spitting bad jokes your way or making the most sarcastic comments that make your eyes roll. he definitely thinks he’s the funniest person in the world. while deciphering through all of his options of how he wants to ask you to be his date to the school dance, he came to the consensus of something cute and simple: a sign. sunghoon loves those cheesy proposal signs that he sees on tiktok and pinterest that use witty play on words. he wanted to make his sign special and make it exclusive towards your friendship. the first time the two of you spent time alone together was after your friends ditched the two of you on a movie night, leaving you and sunghoon to go see the movie Minions. that night also happened to be the night that sunghoon realized he had feelings for you. sunghoon chose to make that night his inspiration for his sign, painting the phrase “y/n, you are one in a minion. be my date?” onto his posterboard. your heart melted at the sight of your best friend standing outside your front door, sign in hand… dressed as a minion. naturally, sunghoon had to go all out. overalls, yellow face paint, goggles, and all. to him, it was worth it to see you smile and laugh the way you did.

i had a realization at work on tuesday
descendants would...not actually work as a multi-episode series, IF following the same timeline/plot...at least by the time d2 rolls around.
hang on lemme ramble/cook.
D1 would work the best as a episode series, as it spans over...what a month? two weeks??? who knows, but that movie would work best as a episode series to be able to explore the whole core four, the auradon kids, having the vks explore and learn about auradon, and giving time for Mal to fall in love with being good and Ben. we could see jay grow and learn that he doesn't have to be alone, we could see Carlos actually learn dogs arent so terrifying over a series of episodes and not in just a few minutes, we could see Evie's discovery of her love for chemistry AND fashion design, AND learn that Doug is actually kinda funny cute and geeky instead of everything just kinda-happening. d1 is easily the best-paced of the 3 movies, but imagine if D1, just D1, was an episode series, we could have a whole first episode just about the isle that ends with the vks going to Auradon, and the 2nd episode starts in Auradon with the climax being the vks trying to get the wand but failing.
and you may ask 'hey rose why does d2 and d3 not work as an episode series?' because they're all linear, short timelines, d2 is only 3 days, maybe 4, and d3 takes place over about 2 weeks but we only see 4 days of those weeks, in my head, they really only work as movies, not as multi-episodes; just due to the fact that they're very fast paced-if they were seasons, they'd be like, maybe 4-6 episodes long while d1 could be a 10 episode season.
anyway yeah, d1 COULD work as a episode series, while d2 and d3 work, pace/story wise, better as a movie.
thank you for coming to my ted talk

WATCHER: A poolside shoot? In Brindleton Bay, early March? JAI: Yes? WATCHER: They're your pixels to freeze off, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
JAI WOODARD for @cawthorntales's JAXON BC
NAME: Jai Woodard AGE: 23ish (young adult) HOME WORLD: Brindleton Bay OCCUPATION: Model TRAITS: Hot-Headed, Materialistic, Childish ASPIRATION: Party Animal LIKES: Cross-Stitch, Guitar, Fitness, Complains, Affection, Black, Flirtation, Gardening, Mixology, Compliments, Red, Physical Intimacy DISLIKES: Video Gaming, Violin, Malicious Interactions, Potty Humour, Arguments, Painting, Cooking, Paino
We all adored Jaxon in @akitasimblr's Mad About Dodo bachelor challenge - and now he has his own spin off! Jai is likely... not quite the contestant he deserves. But he is the contestant Jaxon has nonetheless.
Jai is not so much a bad person as he is self absorbed and immature. He was the stereotypical glasses wearing geeky kid until he was old enough to wear contacts, then puberty hit him with a banger. Once he realised that he could coast off his looks, it brought out some less ideal aspects of his character - and it doesn't exactly help that he's in an industry where his appearance is actually his work.
He's also an only child - and unfortunately with two professional parents who had more money than time for him - you can totally tell.
Will this experience help Jai to shed his superficial ways and bring out some hidden core of sweetness? We shall see.

Am I the only one that thinks that Leia and Jay's conflict and potentially breakup came completely out of nowhere? I mean it's about keys! And it's not even his fault, even without him stealing the keys, Donna would have found them.
Leia feels so much pressure and stress because she wants to stay in Point Place, and Donna's made it clear that if her friends "screw her up" in any way, she's going to Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow (or back to Chicago).
She told Jay not to take Kitty's keys because that's "next level" delinquency. The moment Leia, Jay, and their friends are caught on the school roof, smoking pot, Leia believes her world's about to fall apart. Blaming Jay, since he didn't listen to her about the keys, is an insta!reaction.
She's a teenager, sixteen. Everything feels so much bigger during this time in one's development. Compared, of course, to Hyde's real threat of homelessness (twice) in T7S -- which would lead to him not finishing high school and having a bleak future like his family -- Leia's struggles pale in comparison.
In the context of T9S, though, where Leia had grown dissatisfied with her life by the time the show starts -- when she secretly watches Gwen being free with her self-expression, she realizes another way to be exists. Point Place, and her friends, equal freedom to her (while it equaled the opposite to Donna, Eric, and Hyde). An interesting reversal.

the end of jaylark tims (and the start of something new)
A belated birthday gift for @psiroller who asked for "ems au, them being gay at chilchuck's wife's wedding (or their own)!" Please enjoy this new drabble for the Chilaios ems au. Takes place after Psiroller's beautiful Stop Smoking, We Love You!, Chilchuck's bad call and talk with Laios, chatting about their background, and Chilchuck and Laios' pining at a bar.
Chilchuck and Jaylark gradually regain their friendship after being divorced, and she and her fiance, Ned, also befriend Laios when he and Chilchuck start dating. They coparent their kids together and become close enough to plan trips as a mixed family. That friendliness is why Laios and Chilchuck are readily invited to their wedding, despite the divorce.
Happy birthday, psi, and thank you for letting me write this for you!
Rating: G/T
--
"How do I look?"
Chilchuck glances over to Laios, who is still standing uncertainly in the bathroom of their hotel room, staring at himself in the mirror. "What did you say, Laios?"
Laios steps out into the rest of the room, having traded out his usual shift commander white shirt and cargo pants for a nice charcoal suit and tie. Chilchuck gives what he hopes is an encouraging smile, "You look really good."
Laios pauses and walks over to sit down next to him. He could see through Chilchuck's brave face to the tension in his shoulders and tightness of his jaw. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, of course." Chilchuck replies brusquely. Laios reaches out. His hand covers Chilchuck's own. Chilchuck's brows unfurrow and he sighs, lacing their fingers together. Laios squeezes. "We don't have to go right now, if you don't want. Sneak in right before the ceremony, or hang out with the girls instead of visiting Ned."
Chilchuck cracks a wry smile. "Are you kidding? He's going to have a heart attack if we don't tell him what's going on."
"He'll be okay, I can text him." Laios shrugs. "Jay won't expect to see either of us until the reception, we have options."
Chilchuck sighs and shakes his head. "Nah, I want to go. I don't really want to run into her family, feeling like a failure. But they're my friends, our friends, and they're getting married."
"Yeah." Laios waits, quietly. Chilchuck turns towards him. He does look very handsome. He and Chilchuck had gone shopping for suits together for the wedding, Laios' first formal event since he moved out from his parents' house, and Chilchuck's first since Puckpatti's baptism. Back then, he had a pure black suit and white shirt; this time around, he was talked into a grey a few tones lighter than Laios’ own. Chilchuck squeezes his hand back. "I love you."
Laios makes a quick, excited whine in the back of his throat and leans in. Chilchuck meets him for a kiss. The separation of their lips is audible in the quiet room. "...Let's get going, I don't want to leave Ned hanging. And you look great."
"You too." Laios bumps their shoulders together, and Chilchuck snorts. He bumps him back, harder and faster, attached from hand to shoulder like two survivors in a stormy ocean. "We need to put on our shoes."
"Mhm." Laios doesn't move, rubbing his thumb against Chilchuck's own. It's peaceful. Too peaceful, for the morning of a wedding. Chilchuck cranes up to peck another kiss to Laios' (conveniently lowered to easier reach) cheek with one more hand squeeze. "C'mon, we can sit quietly once we make sure Ned isn't going to have an aneurysm."
“He’d better not,” Laios speaks with a joking weariness, “We’re off-duty, no emergencies allowed.”
Neither of them were a part of the wedding party; it was already socially precarious for Chilchuck to be invited to his ex-wife's wedding, and he vetoed it the moment Ned, Jaylark’s awkward geeky fiance that eagerly befriended his future coparents a few years ago, brought up the idea. "That's the number one way to get the inlaws on your bad side, I can promise you that."
So, instead they arrived a few hours before the ceremony to say hi, and offer to do any last minute errands that they might need. Ned looked understandably overwhelmed and excited to see them and gave them both a huge, sweaty hug. Laios laughed and patted him on the shoulder, “Congratulations, man!”
“Thanks, guys, for being here and everything.” Ned’s mouth runs a mile a minute, “I know it’s been crazy, Jay and I are just so grateful.”
“Sure thing,” Chilchuck ends the hug to look around the room at the less nervous but still haggard-looking groomsmen, “I figure we can pick up any of the girls who don’t want to do the girly wedding stuff and hang outside for a little, maybe grab something to eat. Have you guys eaten? Lunch, snacks?”
They are met with blank stares, and Chilchuck crosses his arms.
“I haven’t been hungry, sorry. I feel like I’d throw up anything I ate now.” Ned wrings his hands.
He does look put together and ready to go, if only he would stop being so nervous; a feat of mental fortitude Chilchuck knew to be impossible for the man. “Well, I’m going to go get you all something, before you go up to the altar. Doesn’t matter how nervous you are, you don’t want to pass out during your vows from low blood sugar.”
That’s how they ended up with Puckpatti in tow, driving to the nearest deli with sandwich platters they could pick up. “Chil, do you want me to wait for the sandwiches, you and Puckpatti go grab some sodas or something?”
Chilchuck takes the key out of the ignition, glancing at his partner, “Sure, divide and conquer. That sound okay, back seat?”
Puckpatti gives a thumbs up, putting her hand-me-down gameboy from Mei to the side. “Okay!”
Laios glanced over, “Do you think Jaylark needs any sandwiches?”
“I doubt it. This isn’t her first rodeo.” Chilchuck comments before glancing in the mirror to Puckpatti, “What do you think, Puck? Should I ask your mom if she needs something to eat?”
She thinks for a moment. “Yeah, maybe!”
Chilchuck sighs and pulls out his phone, sending a quick text to his ex-wife, Hey, going to pick up a sandwich platter for the guys, can I get you ladies one too?
He puts his phone back in his pocket and opens the door, stepping out of the car, hearing the slamming of the other doors as Laios and Puckpatti both step onto the pavement of the strip mall parking lot. Jay and Ned ended up booking a venue a few hours from the city for the wedding, closer to Ned’s family who insisted on celebrating like this wasn’t Jaylark’s second marriage, protesting that since it was Ned’s first, the whole extended family needed to be there. And there should be flowers, a full ceremony at a chapel, and since they’ve already traveled this far, why not a full reception with a well-stocked bar?
It quickly went beyond the simple ceremony and lunch they had originally planned, but aside from normal wedding stress, there was no denying the excitement and love coming from all directions. Laios and Chilchuck both took a couple of days off to make a weekend of it, both to take their own vacation and spend time with Jay and Ned before snagging the girls for the rest of their honeymoon. It’s still surreal, Chilchuck thinks as he stands in the drinks aisle with Puckpatti picking sodas, that he’s here helping with his ex-wife’s wedding, and he’s excited to do it. He pulls a six pack of ginger ale cans into his cart before looking down. “What do you think, Puck?”
She stares at the options, thoughtfully. “Coke, Sprite, ummmmm…can we get the orange soda?”
“Those sound like great choices.” Chilchuck pulls them off the shelves and drops them into the cart. “Can you grab me a Monster from the other shelf?”
“Don’t you want to pick it, so it’s the flavor you like?”
“Nah, it’s for me and Laios to share. You’re good at picking drinks he likes.”
She nods and darts off, becoming immersed in the task of picking an energy drink from the plethora of wild flavors. Chilchuck goes for the next can of sodas, not filling the cart but getting enough for both wedding party to have some options. His phone rings. Jaylark. He answers.
“What’s up?”
“I got your text.”
“Good, do you need anything? I’m at the grocery store with Puck.”
“Sandwiches are good, but Ned’s sister is a vegetarian, can you get some that are meatless?”
“Sure thing, and we’ll bring some sodas. Anything from here? Ice, bandaids, drinks?”
“…I don’t think we need anything else.”
“Got it.”
“Thanks, Chil.”
Chilchuck smiles, “I’m really happy for you, Jay.”
There is a moment of silence, “Me too.”
“As you should be, it is your wedding! Let me call Laios and tell him about the vegetarian sandwich, we’ll be back in a few.”
“Right, sounds good, I’ll see you then, just text when you get back.”
“Mhm, will do.”
He hangs up and calls Laios to tell him the news.
Nobody passes out at the altar. Laios and Chilchuck abandon the girls, who sit on the front row, to find anonymity in the crowd further back. Laios pays rapt attention, “I haven’t been to a normal wedding since, I dunno, when Dan got hitched in his backyard.”
“Mhm? There’s no way that was a normal wedding.” Chilchuck gripes, whispering back, “It’s not anything too exciting to be honest, the best part is the reception.”
Jaylark tears up at the vows, and everyone claps when Ned kisses the bride. Chilchuck can’t help but compare the whole thing to their haphazard teen wedding years ago, thrown together when they realized Jay was pregnant. There was love there too, naive and nervous and hopeful, with a different Chilchuck and Jaylark than they are now. He leans against Laios, who holds his hand and squeezes as the bride and groom process down the aisle with genuine joy in their eyes.
“Laios, Chilchuck, stay nearby for a picture?” Not Ned, but one of his groomsmen interrupts their escape from the chapel, and Chilchuck glances at Laios in surprise, getting only clueless blinking from his companion. “Is that not okay?” Laios questions, unaware of what an oddity it would be to have a wedding picture including your ex-husband.
“I mean, if they want it, sure. Getting wedding pictures with your ex-husband and his boyfriend is not normal procedure. I figured I would have at least a vape break before the reception started.”
“You can still get that, after pictures.” Laios teases with a nudge. Chilchuck drops into his side at the touch, and Laios drapes an arm over his shoulder. “You’re going to wrinkle your suit.” Chilchuck mumbles, “They’re going to have to photoshop that out of the wedding photos.”
“Yeah.” Laios agrees cheerfully. Chilchuck sighs and hooks his arm around Laios’ waist.
Laios sighs, “This is nice.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah. What about you?”
Chilchuck pokes him in the side, getting a ticklish flinch, “It’s pretty good.”
“Get a room, dad.”
They both lock eyes with Mei, who opted for a dress shirt and pants in the same sage green as the bridesmaids dresses. She jerks her thumb over her shoulder. “You’re up, for a family shot.”
That gets them untangling and stepping up past the photographer, congratulations repeated quietly while they got into position, the girls standing in front while Laios, Chilchuck, Jaylark, and Ned are in the back.
“Are you sure you want an exes picture at your wedding?” Chilchuck leans over to Jaylark to murmur.
She tilts her head to whisper back, “Just take the picture, Chil.”
“Okay, copy that.” He smiles at the camera, arm around Laios on one side and Jaylark at the other. It’s surreal, but over in an instant. He follows Laios’ lead, and hugs Jaylark, then Ned, “Congratulations again, I’ll see you guys inside.”
“Thanks, Chil, Laios. See you.” Jaylark responds.
“Bye, Dad and Laios!” Flertom chirps, waving as Laios and Chilchuck wander off towards the parking lot.
“See you later!” Laios answers her wave with his own.
He looks over to Chilchuck, “Ready for your vape break now?”
Chilchuck shoves him and keeps walking to the car.
They snuck off and took a break from all the festivities, driving Flertom, Meijack, and Puckpatti back to the hotel after they were done with wedding pictures to relax in the room for a couple of hours, when the only wedding-based entertainment would be socializing and drinking. Everyone ended up crowded around Laios as he took over Mei’s switch to beat one of the Cuphead levels that she had gotten stuck on for a few days. Chilchuck snuck a candid shot of them, Laios on the floor with the twins hovering over his shoulders from the bed, while Puckpatti needed to strain her neck to peek at the screen while sitting next to him on the floor until she got drowsy and fell asleep against his side. “You’re stuck there now, Laios.”
He flushes and grins towards Chilchuck, “I can’t blame her, it’s been a long day for me too.”
“And you haven’t even gotten to the party yet.” Chilchuck adds the image to a text message in their Parents Group Chat, sending it silently for the newlyweds to see later. Laios swallows nervously, “It’s going to be fun. And Ned said there’s a lot of room outside, if we need to take a break.”
“He’s a smart guy.” Chilchuck replies, pleased, “You guys really are good friends.”
“He’s your friend too, you know.” Laios shoots back.
“Yeah, somehow.” Chilchuck sighs.
Laios stares back down at the game, “Makes perfect sense to me.”
“Yeah?” Chilchuck leans back, “Well maybe you’re biased.”
“If it were just bias, you wouldn’t be here too.”
Chilchuck doesn’t have an immediate response to that, and Flertom whistles, “He got you there, dad.”
“Turning my own kids against me…” Chilchuck accuses Laios, jokingly disappointed, and both Meijack and Flertom jump in to protest their apparent exclusion from this conversation. Laios laughs as he finishes the level.
Everyone had laughed when Jaylark was egged on to throw the bouquet, after the first dance of the new couple (there was no mother son or father daughter dance; it felt out of place to begin with, and it was left on the cutting room floor when trying to merge a second wedding with a first). Chilchuck didn’t think that she would play along, too mature for a frivolity like tossing the bouquet, that wasn’t the Jaylark he was married to years ago, and cracked a bemused smile when she stood up to throw it.
Except, then she didn’t. After faking out the gaggle of onlookers who were ready to fight over the floral arrangement, she walked through the crowd, searching the seats, until their eyes met. Chilchuck feels like he sees the teenager he was so in love with when she gives him a mischievous smirk and walks towards his table.
She stops in front of him and he wishes he could melt into the floor, “What are you doing?” He whisper-yells to her.
“A favor for my friends.” She thrusts the flowers into his hands and he has no choice but to accept it.
There is the sound of Laios’ chair scraping behind him, and that’s when he realizes he’s been duped.
His heart is already beating in his ears as he turns to face him, boyfriend on one knee with the face he gets when he’s determined to hold himself together. He’s holding a ring pinched in his fingers. With everything he’s seen in his life, Chilchuck considers himself to be very calm under the most stressful situation. Which is why it was so shocking when tears welled up in his eyes and a lump caught in his throat.
Laios exhales, psyching himself up, “Chil, being your boyfriend has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I love being a part of your family, and being a part of your life. Please make me the happiest…or second happiest, man here tonight? And marry me?”
The question is barely out of his mouth before Chilchuck is laughing through his tears, “Yes, you idiot, of course.”
He catches Laios when he jumps forward to kiss him, his large arms wrapping tightly around his shoulders. “I can’t believe you did that at my ex-wife’s wedding.” He murmurs into Laios’ ear as the polite claps from Jaylark’s family are drowned out by the whoops from Ned’s relatives.
Laios just captures his mouth again, grin ever present against Chilchuck’s lips. Chilchuck keeps waiting to wake up, back in his bed alone, on the verge of losing his job or pining quietly for his young handsome supervisor as he dates other handsome young men, but this isn’t a dream.
Laios squeezes him in his arms and kisses his cheek. “Sorry, I’m just so happy. I didn’t mean to make you upset.”
“I’m not upset, I’m.” Chilchuck holds him, gripping the fabric of his shirt in his fist, “Stuff like this isn’t supposed to happen to me.”
“It isn’t supposed to happen to me either. I can’t believe it.” Laios tucks his face into Chilchuck’s neck, and inhales sharply, voice tight. “I never thought I would meet someone who makes me as happy as you.”
“You idiot, now we’re both crying, at Jaylark’s wedding.” Chilchuck bites out against Laio’s temple.
Laios leans back, holding out the ring–a plain band, like a wedding ring; Chilchuck likes the way it looks on his finger, likes the way it makes him feel. The reception has long since continued behind them, tables emptying onto the dance floor as the rest of the crowd starts to lose themselves in the rhythm and forget about the proposal of friends of the bride and groom. Laios and Chilchuck stay sitting there, the surreal feeling of the whole event reaching a new peak as the idea of their own wedding and the chance to call each other husband really starts to sink in. Chilchuck knows it won’t truly sink in for months, years, maybe.
Laios’s eyes keep drifting from the ring back up to Chilchuck’s face, the gaze of a man who spent his life being told that there was something wrong with this feeling and he would never find this happiness, still trying to believe that it is real. Even though he was the one who started it. Chilchuck bumps their heads together. “I have one for you too, back in the hotel room. I still can’t believe you proposed tonight. I was going to do it in a couple of days.”
Laios looks like he’s won the world, and Chilchuck knows he’s the one who already has. Laios stumbles to his feet, still holding Chilchuck’s hand, “Do you want to dance?”
Chilchuck groans and gets to his feet, wiping at any tears still clinging to the corners of his eyes. “Only for you, kid.”

i have recently been brainrotting about a batkids racing au. all of them have either shitty home-lives or have had their home-lives taken away and all turn to the concepts of semi-legal street racing as an outlet. in the process, they meet people perhaps in the same boat-- perhaps a family.
Dick
around 21, has been racing since he was 15
likes riding smaller cars. the tighter fit the better. if it's not sleek and swervy he doesn't want it.
had caring parents who he travelled the world with by car, but they died in a car crash when he was 11. due to lack of living relatives, he was in the foster system for 4 years before Barry (Allen) took him in. he never saw Barry as a father, however, and was never officially adopted. basically Wally's roommate and Bart's older brother figure in a way.
Wally introduced him to the street racing world, and despite being very very reluctant at first (car crash trauma), Wally showed him all the good parts of it and he's loved it ever since
experienced racer, everyone there loves him and he's well known as one of the top racers
Jason
20, been racing since 17
he generally prefers driving motorcycles but make no mistake he will shred you no matter what racing vehicle you give him (he's competitive.) in terms of street/car racing he will go for anything with powerful acceleration.
his dad was a mechanic and Jason would sometimes help him out with car repairs when he was younger, although his dad would sometimes drop a bit too much workload on him and not really care for his well-being
mom was a recovering drug addict, cared for Jay but couldn't be around much due to both rehab and hospital visits
his dad was later arrested for underground drug dealing, dying in prison and his mom died of overdose. at 13, he was in the foster system for more or less a year before he ran, living on the streets for 3 more years, doing odd jobs.
at 16, he met Roy, who later (at 17) introduced him to street racing. Jason always had a knack for cars and with his natural talent he won quite a few of his first races, earning money from the betting pools and has been basically splitting rent and crashing with Roy ever since.
absolute MENACE of a racer. showed up at some point and basically showed most people up. can and will judge your car model. might steal your tires for the funsies.
Tim
18, new to the racing scene (been racing since 17) but knows A LOT about it through his own love for motorsports (he definitely has car posters in his room)
will drive any car. literally. he will just love it if you give him a car. in fact, give him a broken one so that he can make it BETTER than everyone else's.
lovely and wealthy parents, but they aren't around much. they honestly try their best, but when you're an only child in a big house it can get boring and lonely. he loves his parents and his mom was the one who first showed him motorsports when she was working on a business deal with a motorsport company (Tim got his first free car poster that day)
definitely takes pictures of cool cars he sees
as soon as he found out about the street racing ring in Gotham he immediately snuck in (age 15)
he would come practically every night he could and made friends with the younger racers (bart, cassie, kon) (they 100% would go to him for geeky car tech tips)
one time bart was sick for a race and cassie and kon asked tim to step in for him on the team, tim did-- he performed so naturally well that he caught the attention of other racers, decided to stay with the YJ team permanently
commonly referred to as a rising star, a prodigy in the racing scene
Damian
15, literally raised into motorsports. god knows when he drove his first car. he started officially racing in the street ring only recently, but already has a reputation as one of the best
preference for aerodynamic cars. the sleeker the better for him.
commonly underestimated by new racers
bruce is still his bio dad, he literally funds most the betting pools and co-runs the street racing ring under the guise of a totally normal auto repair store
hella competitive, will do everything to outshine you especially if you look down on him
LOVES painting on his car. like everyone customises theirs to a certain point but Damian will sit there for hours just painting on it.
does NOT care for the betting pools, if he wins he will just put all the money right back in. he just wants to win and beat you LMAO
