The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
Okay so I DEVOURED Geekarella in my younger years and then bought Dead Romantics and never read it because of my own relationship to the dead partner trope, and now am SO ready to fall into a Poston book again.
And I’m already sold since it launches with a cool, vibrant matriarchal character in the main girl’s life and an awesome apartment?? Twist my arm.
Fiona IS a cool designer friend name
AND a publishing setting
AND A HOT CHEF??? The guy is gonna be the hot chef and the time slip will be when he was 26 or something that article was about????
I did not expect to well up 24 pages in, but apparently I am SENSITIVE to people changing with grief
I’m loving this book EXCEPT that this hot man is calling the main character Lemon, which mostly just reminds me too much of 30 Rock to not get distracted a little every time
This man is extremely endearing and I am worried the reason he’s different now is that his mom passed.
Okay I was almost right I just wasn’t reading closely
This whole book was a warm hug from someone you haven’t seen in long enough
I laughed and cried and felt a little like I was reading a fanfic (in a lovely complimentary way)

It’s been ages since I’ve done one of these so I’ll start off with two books I’ve been wanting to read for a while.
First up, The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston. This book is set in the same world as Poston’s previous novel Geekarella (which I loved!) and follows the story of an ordinary fangirl trying to save her favourite character from being killed off (something I believe we can ALL relate to). Next up is Enchantée by Gita Trelease. Set in revolutionary France, this story follows an orphan girl and her entanglement with the court of Louis XVI as she tries to provide for her siblings by utilising what little magic she has. So excited to get reading these two!

The Princess And The Fangirl
By Ashley Poston
Synopsis:
From the acclaimed author of Geekerella, this spin on The Prince and the Pauper is a perfect story for geek girls of every fandom. Movie star Jessica Stone can’t bear to pretend to love Starfield at yet another con—except her contract obligates her to do just that. She never dreamed she’d be playing Princess Amara for life, yet for better or worse, beloved Princess Amara has Jessica Stone’s face. But so does someone else . . . Imogen Lovelace is just another Starfield fan hitting up ExcelsiCon—except she happens to look an awful lot like Jessica Stone. So when Jess spots her doppelgänger, a brilliant idea pops into her head: Swap places! Jess can escape the spotlight for a few days, while Imogen can ditch her cruddy job and dodgy hotel room to see life beyond her dull hometown. Jess doesn’t anticipate actually liking Imogen’s life or the gorgeous non-famous girl who might be the person she needs to forget about her ex. And Imogen loves being Jess until she’s trapped in a paparazzi snafu and realizes fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. With the press poised to reveal their secrets, and an announcement about the sequel looming, both Jess and Imogen will have to stand up for the truth: That there is no such thing as a fake geek girl. That what you love matters. That fandom can, and should, let you be who you really are.
The Princess And The Fangirl is due to hit shelves on April 2, 2019.

GEEKERELA
Tumblr media
AUTORA: Ashley Poston
EDITORA: Intrínseca
ESTRELAS: 2/5

60 Books In 2019 #28: Geekerella by Ashley Poston
Yeah, so this is a book that's a take on Cinderella, set at a Comic Con. It might be my favorite in my YA blitz so far.
Geekerella provides two things that I love more than anything, love letters to fandom, and specifically cosplay, and a take on the Cinderella story which I love so much.
Our Ella this time around is Danielle Wittimer, Elle to her friends, of whom she has few since her father died and her step mother’s parenting ranges from neglectful to outright abusive and her step sisters, twins Chloe and…

Writing, University, and Kitten Updates: May 2019
Writing, University, and Kitten Updates: May 2019
I took a break in May to take care of Merlin, the magical kitten, and focus on my university work. My assignment’s finally done, and I have no more classes until November.
Researching and editing my project was fun, a good thing considering my first draft was 25000 words long when it needed to be 5000, but I’m glad it’s over as I hated the business side of it.
In other news, we’ve had Merlin a…

Percy Jackson: If you were a demigod, who would be your godly parent? I’m not sure? Aphrodite would probably be my mom.
Geekerella: do you believe that you can fall in love with someone you have never met? I guess?
The Lunar Chronicles: What is your favourite fairytale? I never really had one tbh
Thanks for asking-victoria

I have a little tale to weave (kinda, maybe) about my adventures with this awesome little series... . . I absolutely loved and adored Geekerella. It had spoke to my nerdy heart 💖. So of course I could not wait to be able to read The Princess and the Fangirl! Imagine my excitement when a cute powder blue envelope showed up in my mail unexpectedly! (There may have been some squeels of delight involved.) . . I moved the very next day, and darkness befell, as someone broke into my car during my cross country move. They stole many things, including my new ARC! 😭 I was devastated! I decided to attempt to contact @quirkbooks, explaining what happened, and they are amazing all! They came through and sent me another copy! I was so grateful and delighted! . . Now fast forward to @emeraldcitycomiccon, where my awesome friend @sammaybereading had tickets to the entire con, and was the bomb, and grabbed me a copy of Princess and the Fangirl since Quirk was selling finished copies early and I'd only be attending the con on Sunday. . . Which was amazing by the way! Because as it turned out @_ashposton was doing a signing! She is a delight and I love that she is a fellow nerd, with a love of all things books, anime and video games. This was my 2nd time meeting Ashley, as I got to meet her in San Diego, during her Heart of Iron tour, where I had gotten Geekerella signed. . . The point of my long little story, is that Quirk and Ashley are amazing and so are these cute, quirky, nerdy books and I highly, extremely, quantifiably recommend them! . . . #book #books #bookstagram #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #booklove #bookaddict #booknerd #bookworm #bookphotography #bookpics #booksofig #booksofinstagram #bookish #read #reading #bibliophile #bookstagramit #bookdragon #quirkbooks #saveamara #geekarella #starfield #theprincessandthefangirl #ashleyposton #yanovels #looktothestars #aimignite #youngadult (at Seattle, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvm_s01nZ5w/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=500u8ynni4jw

Apparently, it made quite a noise. She also knocked her head through a window-door (one of those ones made of like 12 little windows making a door?). Read: What was the last book you read?Geekarella! I haven't written up my review yet, but it's so good. I'm gonna put it next to Fangirl on my shelf. That's how much I love it.
