Since Earthsea has never gotten a proper *stares at Syfy show casting director* adaptation, there’s no consensus on how the characters should look. We have some vary basic descriptions in the book, but it leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Which means when you look up fan art, you’re presented with this beautiful bouquet of creativity.

Every artwork I’ve found varies beautifully from artist to artist. It’s interesting seeing the different interpretations of the characters and the world, drawing from different cultural influences. No two Geds are the same, and no to Otak’s for that matter.

Idk I guess it’s just been a while since I’ve been in a fandom with no kind of (popular) visual media, so I love getting this peek into the minds of other fans.

I've been reading wizard of earthsea lately and fuck I love Ged Sparrowhawk and how kind he is with Yarrow and honestly all the people he meets. Man is cursed, hunted by the shadow of the worst thing he ever did, and always has time to be kind and answer the questions that come to him. He is so gentle and kind despite everything

Reading A Wizard of Earthsea for the first time.

Does anyone know of any art of the moment Ged meets his shadow out in the middle of the ocean? I feel like some artists can do something amazing with that and I’d love to see different interpretations of that moment.
