GCSE REVISION TIPS
I normally see all these revision posts flying around tumblr so I never thought to make one because there are already so many. However, I just wanted to make a more detailed post about how I revised for GCSEs because I got a ton of nines (how????even???) so I must be doing something right I guess 🤷.
REVISION TIPS
UsE tHe SpEcIfIcAtIoN. I cannot emphasise this enough. The specification is low-key your most valuable resource for GCSE. Literally errrythang you need to know is in the specification. This is where they get the mark scheme from. Most of my revision was memorising the spec and it worked out well for me. Wow I feel like a salesperson trying to get you to buy a product but please please pleaaasee use the spec.
Flashcards. Flashcards. Flashcards. I used to see everyone and their dog using flashcards and I never used them because I didn’t want to be ‘mainstream’ but boy was I stupid. Of course everyone has different revision methods that work for them but flashcards saved my grades. All I did was write out the points from the specification verbatim and memorise them.
YouTube vids. These are great for night-before revision recaps. This was especially good for physics where I needed more than just the spec and some flashcards to help me. The Freesciencelessons guy is like revision Jesus.
Past papers. I didn’t really do many past papers because I’m too lazy but I did do some.
Vines. I watched a lot of vines.
Revision sessions at school. I went to a few of them - mostly for English lit - and they were very useful. Sometimes teachers know what they’re doing.
Tailor your revision to the type of questions being asked. For subjects like history or english, know what the focus of the question is and only revise based on the focus. For example, if the question is about how significant an event was, don’t try and remember a ton of dates and random facts that won’t help - just look at how the even changed things. Likewise, if it’s about how the author presents a certain theme or character, focus on what the author is doing.
Sleep. Sleep is good. I needed to sleep. I wish I slept. I didn’t sleep. Please sleep.
PRACTISEEEE. For subjects you can’t really revise for, like english language and maths, just practise my dudes. The more you practise, the more you understand.
Eat. Please remember to eat. I forgot to do this a lot when I was revising but nutrition is important. Allow yourself to just eat loaadsss of food because revision is tough and hard and food is good.
Hydrate. That is all.
Have something you’re working towards. Maybe you’re working towards getting into a good uni, or making your 9-year old self proud, or proving doubters wrong. I was working towards all those things and reminding myself of these goals really pulled me through. Motivation is personal.
General stuff. You know much more than you think. If you need to know case studies for an exam know them months in advance. Let yourself have fun. Speak to your family and let them know you are still alive. You’ll be fine.
I hope this helped. Shoutout to @kaffajude for giving me the idea to make this post. Don’t stress too much my dudes.

Small rant/talk thing
So results day ended up being one of the best days I’ve had this whole year. I didn’t get amazing results and some of them I’m not over the moon about but I am happy over all. I do not have to carry on going to my school for sixth form which makes my so unbelievably happy because just the thought of anymore time at that place made me cry. After getting my results I was straight on a train to go to my college for enrolment and my future teacher was happy with my results and I’m officially a student at the college I love!
I don’t want this to be like a brag about myself at all but I just want to say to people who have just got their results or are nervous to start exams that no matter what happens you will start a new chapter of your life and that’s exciting 💙

“The question is a political one: how inaccurate are we prepared to let the system be before we change it? What would be an acceptable correct figure?”

I just thought this was a really good quote and I thought I'd post it

What I got in my GCSEs!!
So for my GCSEs, I got the following:
Grade 8s: English Literature, English Language, French, RE, Maths, and Chemistry
Grade 7s: History and Biology
Grade 6: Physics
Totalling to 6 8s, 2 7s, a 6 (6 A*s, 2As and a B) and an E in Additional Maths all of which I’m really happy about. Plus, I got confirmation of my place at sixth form to do A-level English Literature, History, Music, and Mathematics. The studyblr community has helped me so much to achieve what I have and bless you all in your future endeavours :)
