My version of T9S (not my verse), a total overhaul. Circa 1998-9.
Keep Gwendolyn "Gwen" Marie Runck (born 1983) and Nicole "Nikki" Maria Velasco (born 1982) as is, mostly, other than aging them down. Gwen is definitely bi, and Lucy may be, too (see below).
*****
Lucy Katherine Forman (born 1983):
Rename Leia, age her down and have a different actress play her. I have nothing against Callie's acting ability, but she just doesn't look like an ED kid, to me. I would also put a little more Donna in her, maybe a passion for writing and politics (I'd lean more into her being a smart Eric with Donna's interests). She's already part of the debate team, and she has more to bond with Gwen over.
For her parents, Eric's a history teacher, and Donna's a journalist who has just published a book. Lucy is still fairly sheltered, but she has her friends Jay and Will by her side. And her annoying little sister Lauren (born 1989), too.
*****
Jason "Jay" Michael Kelso (born 1982):
Change Jay's mom to Brooke, age him down, and lean a little more into his OG description. Plus, Lucy already knows him (very well), and so do RK. He lives in Chicago, too, with his parents and older sister Betsy. He quickly becomes bffls with Isaac, and they're way less annoying.
*****
Isaac Elliot Runck (born 1981):
At this pt, discard Nate. He's annoying af. Let's just say Sherri was never with Brian, and was/is always with Gwen's dad, Elliot. Since Gwen is younger, she has an older full brother. I'm going to name him Isaac. He's a smart kid with a goofy side. Lucy has always been attracted to Jay, but with Isaac around, she's not so sure. Isaac is dating Nikki, and they're way less toxic together.
*****
William "Will" Eric Hyde (born 1983):
Throw Ozzie away, stat. Anywho, Jackie and Hyde's son. He's a lot like his dad, but is a lot more open and has a bigger heart. He's gay, and is very nervous about coming out (everyone in his inner circle knows, though). He has a loud-mouthed, brash brother Jacob "Jake" (born 1987), who drives him nuts.
For his parents, Hyde proposed in Chicago, and they had a happily ever after. They're close to Eric and Donna, and to Kelso and Brooke. Hyde is a manager of both of Chicago's Grooves, and Jackie is a talk show host.
*****
For Fez, he has a successful hair salon in Chicago, and is dating a guy. He's not messing with Sherri, because Sherri is still with Gwen's dad, Elliot.

So got curious and tried That 90s Show despite the shit reviews. I gotta give they nailed ‘90s’: Kitty’s decor, 70s holdover hair do, white trash moms, etc. the 4th of July was such a deal back then, i just figured it was rural not 90s.
Donkey Kong was a fail tho (graphics were 10 years too advanced). And i maintain (as i was in rural hell in the 90s) no small town in Wisconsin would have that much diversity then…or now. I mean its more likely now but unheard of back then (our shit town started gossiping about latinos coming to town, there were like 3 of them and they were all presumed Mexican but i dont think they were. Same with an asian family. No other poc dared fuck up to live there.)
And trust me: no kid would dare be openly gay in places like that back then (where i was living then regularly STILL steals pride flags and destroys them yes 2023. I was constantly assumed gay cuz no guys wanted me and i was lucky it was just being ostracized, not violence). The gay kid makes me think of Bobby Lee playing gay and its…odd. Like they just picked another ethnic kid to fey up and talk weird without being a full character.
Im glad no Hyde (fuck that rapist) but i think they should have mentioned him. I presume Gwen is his bastard child given the no longer would fly half black story line. I also wish they would’ve acknowledged Fez had been Laurie’s green card husband. Laurie should be features on Unsolved Mysteries. I cant believe parents (even ones thinking of her as evil) would just forget she existed or was missing.
And why did Fez go back to high voice? And why have they not explained wtf they’re still calling him Fez? Wilmer is creepy and looked high as a kite i dont really know why they brought him back.
Kitty and Red are delightful. Perfectly costumed and portrayed. Loved Leo! And Ashton and Mila seem to be having the time of their lives. Leia and Jay are perfectly cast as their parents kids. And if Gwen is one then her too.
Im sorry i dont believe a rrriot girl would go to a rave. There are a lot of plot holes. Frankly Nate and Gwen dont seem straigjy and Leia seems like shes way more into Gwen than Jay.
But Jay seems like a good character. Kelso is right he got his mom’s brains cuz Kelso was waaay too dumb. And they dealt with Jackie and Fez but not Fez and Laurie or even weirder Kelso’s other baby? I hate when these retcon shows just pick the most random shit to keep (like Conners kept Harris and Crystal’s kids but Andy and Jerry dont exist…maybe…jerry gets one shout out.)

I think it makes sense that Jay would be a womanizer like his dad (until he meets Leia) if he was raised by J/K. Like you said Kelso would be encouraging him to get with girls early on and sending him toxic masculinity messages constantly. And Jackie sure I think she would be a good mom but that’s not enough to overcome what she’s teaching Jay about relationships and how to treat a woman by constantly going back to Kelso. Jay would internalize that and you get pretty much exactly what he was on that 90’s show. But meeting Leia changed him
Exactly, that's what I said. But I wish we got more insights into his home life. Maybe there could have been an episode where Jay pushes Leia's boundaries a bit (not too much, just the old fashioned girl has to push guy off thing that used to happen in old shows) because his father and uncles have told him that Leia actually doesn't want to wait and that because they're waiting Leia sees Jay as gay or less of a man or whatever. He would explain this to Leia at the end and they would make up.
Still, call me old-fashioned but I don't believe a 15-year-old could be THIS experienced. I would still make an episode about where Jay recounts his actual experience and his body count is surprisingly low. Not zero, but also not what we saw in the show. It could be revealed that he exaggerated everything else because he wanted to appear like a man. Leia would on one hand not like that he is a liar and wonder what is he telling everyone about her, but on the other hand be relieved that he is actually not all that experienced.
Their first time would have more baggage because Jay would be scared that he's getting bored of the relationship since he's used to chasing and challenge and not really the relationship part and propose to Leia that they don't have sex for a while again. Leia would think he didn't like it and be upset. Jay would assure her that he did and then they would do it again, this time better (like Eric and Donna back in the day). Leia could also go to Donna to advice about this.
In general, more things could have been done with Jay's character and upbringing but I feel like ultimately they just made him Kelso's son for nostalgia but it didn't have much to do with his character. If he wasn't Kelso's son, it would have made no difference.

ok i finished that t9s "part" or whatever last night and i did watch the entire thing while high so dont ask for much but one thing about me i WILL have opinions SO i will say the show is just not good and it isnt just the writing like many claim. the acting isnt there, the chemistry isnt there, the line deliveries are all terrible. and even the og cast isnt doing a good job if im being fr (could indicate it is in fact just the script that's the issue but i just cannot sit here and pretend i think the new leads are strong enough actors REGARDLESS)
jay and leia have the chemistry of two rocks. i think leia is a character with potential, i can see they are trying to make a mix of eric and donna, i think my main issue is the acting. having a redemption arc for jay without even showing us what he's being redeemed for is boring as hell. yes you told me a million times he was a player. i didnt get to see it though. so this redemption does nothing for me
i think people are underestimating just how much the acting is hurting this show. i dont necessarily think t7s is a show with good writing but i can assure you i will have fun lol. and the acting was excellent like at least 95% of the time... at the very least....
jay and nate are the best characters and the only two decent actors but can you really compare them to say kelso and fez? i dont care if you people dont like kelso and fez as characters, the acting was good, the body language was good and their chemistry was good.
i think nikki and nate are an interesting dynamic there's lots of potential there, again, not trying to be rude but the actress doesnt really sell it though.
gwen has to be a lesbian like i cannot read this girl as straight im sorry. i do love the character but i dont think the actress is selling it either🙈 less comparing her to hyde (she's too put together imo!) and more comparing her to fez (straight?)
ozzie is like a gay stereotype but i dont necessarily think that's a bad thing? like if they want to have a character be unapologetically gay that's cool, my main issue is again, the acting. ALTHOUGH ive heard this actor is particularly young so i feel extra bad saying it lol.
as for the adults. red and kitty both seem very odd to me, kitty is TOO crazy and red is too.... all talk no action. however i try to rationalize both because i think people start changing when they age, your crazy grandma does get crazier and your grandpa will probably be nicer to you than he was to your dad. but idk if this is enough of an explanation lol
first half had no plot but it picked up on the second half with shenanigans such as the shoplifting, the unplanned party, that kind of thing
which brings me to another point. this type of show doesnt work in under 20 episodes. this is a sitcom you NEED filler. give it AT LEAST 20 episodes or you're doomed to fail im sorry. i'd say 25 is a perfect number but let's aim lower baby (expectations on the ground)
the tone is completely different to t7s, i feel like t7s has very crude humor and sometimes i would even call it dark comedy. t9s is how many people have pointed out before, too disney channel, with the shocking contrast of characters talking about sex alcohol and drugs. which just makes for a weird experience lol
there's lots of jokes thrown in there that feel SO t7s. but like i said before, everything inbetween is so disney channel, it's a very odd contrast and the acting isnt good so the jokes are funny and all, but very out of place. and it's like. trying to eat just the marshamellos out of your cereal..... like.... you gotta get through a lot of boring to get to that one fun thing
the timeline doesnt make any sense and also it ruins canon even more, but i have chosen to ignore this as canon like this just doesnt exist. i always say i havent watched s8 and dont count it as canon, so no obviously t9s is not canon for me either, im literally just bored out of my mind lol
did it improve from last season? yes, it just wasnt enough. and like i said, we're looking for gorgeous not cute!
#t9s lb#will i watch next part? will i be bored after work and decide to smoke a little and play whatever i can think of first? probably lol#usually first thing i think of is either a sitcom or a dumb movie#if t7s tag wasnt full of this show i wouldnt even know it was coming out so..... if im in the tag when it comes out lol#turning reblogs off because i am not trying to like. go into t9s fandom spaces. if that even exists i guess#also as for the ages of the actors. that's the main reason im trying not to be too mean!#but (and i hate complimenting the cast i swear) mk was like 3 weeks out the womb when she started playing jackie.....#big shoes to fill i guess#it can definitely be done though......

Nikki, if only she's the one that's the least like her counterpart, Jackie. More like two thirds Jackie, one thirds Donna. She's the most intriguing, but she had the least amount of screen time, which sucks.
Leia is fine, other than her name (eww, so OOC). I just wish she was more of an Eric/Donna combo, rather than following the 80/20 (80 percent Eric) pattern most of the other characters share, in terms of their respective counterparts. Having a couple of characters that follow this pattern is fine, but having most of the gang follow this pattern is just damn laziness, imo.
Gwen has the same problem as Leia, as being the clear Hyde, but she's fine otherwise. Plus, most of the characters have had Donna lazily scattered in there, too...
1. Nikki's the voice of reason.
2. Leia is smart and loves music.
3. Gwen is a feminist, and is politically minded.
4. Jay's the love interest.
5. Ozzie is steadfast and determined.
The purpose of this was so there can be two Kelsos. One to date Leia, and one to date the Jackie (Nikki).
*****
Jay had potential, from his OG bio, but he's just a less orthodox, quirky Kelso. Meh.
Nate is a sweet Kelso, without the spice to make him interesting, so he's nothing special as a character. And Jay and Nate's bromance is fucking insufferable.
Ozzie, on the other hand, is fucking offensive. Beyond being an awkwardly shoehorned-in Fez, he ticks the box for almost every gay stereotype, just as the cast ticks off every diversity box. Black, check. Hispanic, check. Asian, check.
It's a distraction of superficial diversity, ill fitting for the white bread setting and an obvious ploy, in order to distract from the lazily made characters. Just trying to awkwardly replicate the gang doesn't work, and the lackluster male characters render the show as incredibly stale and unfunny, combined with the creators' refusal to look at the source material to keep the universe cohesive.
But nope. Instead, we get no Betsy. Jay is too old, by a solid year and a half, rendering T9S as a weird AU. And we get outright offensive, superficial representation, and Ozzie is a shining example of that.

I'm sending this to three T70s blogs! What are your very most controversial/unpopular That 70s Show opinions? To get the ball rolling, I'll confess a few of mine since I'm on anon and can't be attacked :) 1. I always shipped Jackie/Eric to the point where they're a true OTP of mine. I have no idea why. Usually when I ship non-canon couples, it's because they're very close friends whose personalities seem incredibly compatible to me...but Jackie and Eric aren't especially close (despite being in the same general group), and they don't seem very compatible or even to care about and respect each other that much. (Though Jackie's "hero" line melts me!) Tbh, it probably just comes down to the fact that Jackie and Eric are by far my two favorite characters. I love analyzing, writing about them, and envisioning how they might have worked if I conveniently ignore 97% of canon. I'm pathetic :) 2. I wouldn't really like Hyde in real life and don't think he was a particularly good romantic partner at all. (*ducks*) I mean, he was an improvement over Kelso, but who isn't?! I just think fandom idealizes him a bit too much. It's a matter of taste, though---the super 'edgy, rebel, proudly rude, 'duuude, I shoplift and smoke a lot of weed and would rather set myself on fire than eat in a mainstream chain restaurant' kind of guys just aren't my personal type :) 3. Sort of related to the first two confessions: I don't think Jackie and Hyde would make each other happy long term. They had some wonderful moments on the show, but I really just don't think they'd give each other what they want. 4. I don't really get how some newer fans turn Laurie into this root-worthy 'girlboss' who's just misunderstood- she's supposed to be unrepentantly, hilariously terrible, and she is! Sometimes it really is as simple as that :) 5. (*whispers*) More often than not, I enjoy Kelso. Obviously as a boyfriend to Jackie, but as a character who - for me - really does add a lot of humor and energy to the show. i can't wait to read yours, and please don't hate me for mine!
Don't you mean, obviously not as a boyfriend to Jackie?
To your points.
1. Jackie and Hyde can work long term, to me. They're stubborn, but they give eachother what they want. Love and stability.
2. I do think Laurie was mistreated by her mother and was unrightfully slut shamed. However, she goes beyond this, and willingly home wrecks. Ultimately, she falls back into her old patterns whenever things get hard. She has potential to be better, but she is morally grey, if you will. She is willing to do almost anything to get what she wants.
*****
Okay, now mine.
1. I've said this before, but I think T9S is worse than season 8. If only because season 8 is way easier to fix.
2. I tend to regard season 8 as canon, if only because it logistically meshes (unfortunately). Both post-season 8 and post-season 7 verses are canon. T9S is not, since it logistically clashes with both, in a huge way (*cough* sixteen year old Jay *cough*).
3. I do not think Jackie can truly overcome all of her conservative biases via Hyde. She would really struggle to accept a child that seriously strays from the norm. It sucks. It's one of those things where she outwardly accepts it, to be politically correct, but it's obvious that it's not how she really feels. She'd ultimately accept a gay or bi kid, but it would take her years to accept a trans/gender non-conforming kid. And even then, she still wouldn't get it/understand it.
4. Okay, T7S takes place in the past. Blatant historical anachronisms, to adhere to modern standards, do way more harm than good. It leads some readers to believe things were better than they actually were, which is a fucking disservice. I strive to be historically accurate, not just in material things, but in attitudes too. It varies from character to character, but still.
5. Jackie, for the most part, would be awful irl. I've met good Jackies in the past, but a lot of bad ones, too (*cough* family members *cough*).
6. Only Jackie, and maybe Fez, would be a Swiftie.

It's a total season 4 AU, for me. Jay is way too old to fit within canon, and seems to be a replacement for Betsy. And it has total Disney show vibes, eww.
And a few other things...
1. Ozzie is a walking gay stereotype.
2. Jay and Nate's dynamic is annoying af.
3. The male characters lack substance. Three comic reliefs cheapens the show immensely.
4. The Nate and Leia thing is totally random and makes little sense.
5. The new characters follow what I call the 80/20 model. Most of the character is based off an OG, but add a few differences and hope no one will notice. This is okay for a character or two, but all six? Sheer laziness.
Leia: Eric
Gwen: Hyde
Nikki: Jackie
Jay: Kelso 1
Nate: Kelso 2
Ozzie: Fez
6. Leia's name is incredibly OOC. It's a massive gimmick. Eric has a massive crush on Leia, and considers Donna to be Leia. So eww. Off limits. Plus, Donna would never go for it. It's weird, and she likes classic names, mostly.
7. Eric is way more than a guy who likes Star Wars, and him being a Star Wars professor is niche and unrealistic. Plus, season 7 clearly showed that he wanted more than that.
Just curious but have you watched T9S? If so, what do you think? I personally like it, except for Jackie being married to Kelso, Eric being a Star Wars professor, and Hyde basically being erased. But I’m curious to hear your thoughts.
Okay my WILD thoughts on T90S-buckle up because it’s a rant that’s basically all over the place:
I watch it for the OGs only. Mainly Mila and Ashton because I adore them (minus the recent scandal they’ve been caught in). I can’t get past the fact that Jackie and Kelso ended up together and the only reason they did that was because Mila and Ashton are together in real life. The only right endgame for Jackie was Hyde. BUT I ALWAYS loved how Kelso got a bit more mature with Brooke and thought they should be endgame. THEY TOTALLY DISREGARDED BETSY AND BROOKE- SO BYE BYE TO KELSO’S MATURED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! I also believe that they did Jackie so dirty with her character development by going back to Kelso. Hyde helped Jackie mature so much and her character development is very strong when she’s with him… I seriously think the writers have it out for Jackie’s character. AND I KNOW DANNY IS HORRIBLE BUT THEY ALSO JUST TOTALLY DISREGARD HYDE?!?! Like love Hyde, hate Danny. They act like he never existed which is heinous in my opinion because he was a HUGE part of the show. Not to mention them forgetting Laurie too… I loved Laurie and believe that she is an important role in Jackie and Kelso’s relationship because of Kelso cheating on her with Laurie.
Overall, it just feels like a really bad disney show and it makes me sad. And I’m sorry if this is a little harsh but the new actors are not good at acting and it makes me wanna rip out my hair… Ozzy’s actor is the only decent actor in my opinion.

Jay Kelso could’ve easily been Kelso and Brooke’s child, especially with how Kelso describes him in “That ‘90s Pilot”. Nothing about Jay’s characterization suggests Jackie as his mother. He’s all Michael Kelso but with, say, Brooke’s sense of responsibility buried deep inside (that his feelings for Leia bring to the surface) and a love for nature (Jackie hated nature, and Kelso was indifferent to it -- except to blow it up with fireworks).
I’m not going to write a That ‘90s Show fanfic that makes it fit with That ‘70s Show canon, but I did think about how I might write one. Jay is Brooke’s son, not Jackie’s, and Red/Kitty know who he is.
Jackie and Hyde arrive from Milwaukee with their own kid -- just as Eric and Donna are leaving Leia with the Formans. So Hyde and Jackie see Eric and Donna about to get into their car.
Jackie and Hyde enter the Formans’ home with their kid, who is gay and out to their parents ... but no one else, despite Jackie and Hyde’s encouragement and putting them in a progressive private high school with a gay-straight alliance, multicultural club, openly gay teachers, etc. (Yes, this kind of school existed in the ‘90s.)
Kitty’s reaction to Hyde is similar to her reaction to Eric. Red actually hugs Hyde, which Leia witnesses (this will be important later).
Jackie and Hyde need to drop their kid off at the Formans’ for the summer because their careers are making them go from state-to-state (an unfortunate coincidence; usually if they have to travel for work, they make sure one parent is home for their kid). Not a good situation for their kid, whom they want stability for the next two months.
Leia and Jackie/Hyde’s kids are like cousins -- because she grew up knowing Hyde and Jackie as their aunt and uncle.
Hyde and Jackie, thanks to Eric and Donna, know the basics of why Leia’s staying with Red and Kitty. Hyde and Jackie, separately ask her why her life in Chicago isn’t awesome. We actually get into the depth of her feelings. Real emotional connection. She shares different things with Hyde and with Jackie, who compare notes afterward.
Jackie and Hyde think Leia might not be straight, which might contribute to her feelings of alienation in her school at home. They recognize the signs because of their own kid.
Jackie and Hyde decide to stick around for a few days while their kid settles in, which allows them to interact with Leia’s new friends, Red and Kitty, and Fez.
Since I’m sticking to the details of T9S, Fez would remain a salon owner, but he would be written as the best version of himself (a combo of T7S seasons 1 and 4, not the season 7-8 combo we get in T9S).
Jackie and Hyde connect with each of the other kids. Hyde and Gwen, in particular, bond (after some tension) on a lot of levels. There’s one aspect, though, where he thinks his sister can be of more help. He calls Angie (in between scenes), and she shows up (and has her moments with Leia, Red and Kitty, but her main scene is with Gwen).
Jackie and Nikki have a lot to talk about, and we’d learn of Nikki’s ambitions earlier than we do on T9S and the trouble that might cause for her and Nate moving forward. Jackie gives some sage advice, using Donna and Eric as the example (this would be a conversation laced with wisdom and humor because Jackie is Jackie).
Hyde asks Red how he’s going to handle having two Kelsos hanging around his house.
Red: Betsy’s more Rockwell than Kelso. She’s the only one allowed around here. Hyde: No, man. I mean Nate. Red: Nate? Hyde: He might not technically be a Kelso, but he’s a freakin’ Kelso. Good luck with that. Red: Son of a -- Kitty: Not Kelso. HAHAHAHAH!
Leia isn’t straight. I don’t want to erase her attraction to Jay, Nate, or guys. So I would write her as bisexual. Gwen is also not straight, but like a lot of kids in the ‘90s, she and Leia are unsure of what their attractions to different people mean. (Hell, like a lot of kids now, but at least there’s a lot more information -- easily accessible -- out there).
Hyde’s interactions with Oz add complexity to Oz’s character. Hyde sees in Oz the same kind of sarcastic deflection Hyde himself used as a teenager. He also can tell Oz is gay, but he doesn’t say anything about that since it’s Oz’s right to share that info himself. But Hyde tells Oz that if he continually shuts people out to protect himself, he won’t truly connect to anyone--”and those connections, man, are what life’s about.”
Oz gives Hyde a sarcastic, deflecting response, but he also takes in what Hyde said. It works through him during the season and in his interactions with Jackie and Hyde’s kid, whom Oz recognizes as gay.
Oz, who’s comfortable with his sexuality (as portrayed on T9S), approaches the subject with Jackie/Hyde’s kid They bond. They also spot the romantic attraction between Leia and Gwen but don’t say a word about it to anyone but each other (at least for season 1).
Yeah, heteronormativity is out the window in this fic. While Nikki, Nate, and Jay are all straight, Leia, Gwen, Oz, and J/H’s kid aren’t. But the story would not be an afterschool special. The kids’ sexualities are part of who they are, not who they are. This aspect of them would add to the storylines and dictate a major thread but not all the threads.
Leia, in a conversation with Hyde, says to him, “Grandpa Red hugged you when you first got here.”
Hyde: Yeah. So? Leia: He didn’t hug my dad. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them hug. Hyde: Your dad and gramps have a few things to work out that they haven’t. Leia: Like what? Dad’s never said anything to me about it, and he tells me everything. ... Well, I guess not everything. Huh. Hyde: It’s complicated, kid. Leia: Grandpa Red doesn’t even seem to like my dad, and I don’t get that since he’s the best dad in the world -- not that you’re not a great dad, but you’re not my dad. You’re my uncle -- Hyde: Leia, it’s cool. I got it. Leia: So ... can you tell me what their problem is? Hyde: I could, but I won’t. Leia: Why not? Hyde: It’s somethin’ you should ask Red about. Maybe it’ll knock some sense into him. Leia: Talk to Grandpa Red? I mean, I talk to him all the time -- but about my dad? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I can’t do that. Hyde: You might be the only one who can.
This conversation leaves Leia more confused and a little scared, but it creates a significant subplot in the story.
Jackie and Hyde talk with Red and Kitty before they leave for their state-hopping summer, giving them intel they otherwise wouldn’t have. Not all the intel but some important info.
Jackie and Hyde leave Point Place, but their influence stays behind. It allows the kids to think more deeply about themselves and one another (and Leia about Red), and their arcs have a lot more depth because of it.

10 Things We Know About That ‘90s Show So Far
(Note: there is now a PART 2 to this post here)
Other than the obvious: the show centers around Eric and Donna’s teenage daughter Leia, who is spending the summer with her grandparents Red and Kitty. And the show’s tagline is:“Sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll never dies - it just changes clothes.” 😎
1. Eric, Donna, Jackie, and Kelso will have recurring roles. It is unclear in what capacity, but safe to say they’ll be guest stars and not main cast.
2. Also, Fez is returning! Wilmer confirmed with a cheeky video of him trying on his old Fez wardrobe. 😉
3. According to an (*unverified*) leaked source, the pilot takes place on the 4th of July. This does seem to track, given Kitty’s wardrobe in this “First Look” photo Netflix tweeted. 👀
4. Leo will be returning!
5. Here is a first glimpse of Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia (played by Callie Haverda). Leia is “Smart like her mom, snarky like her dad. Leia is craving adventure, she’s just not sure where to start.”
6. Topher teased his return with this t-shirt. It could just be a Point Place tee, or it could be a clue. Maybe all of the characters are in town for their high school reunion? 🤔
7. The other characters who will round out the new Point Place gang are:
*Gwen (A Riot Grrrl/The next-door-neighbor/Leader of the new gang)
*Jay (always has a video camera and filming his friends/rumored son of Kelso)
*Nate (Gwens brother/Drives a van/Takes life as it comes)
*Ozzie (Sarcastic, insightful, gay)
*Nikki (Nate’s girlfriend/Driven and smart/Has a rebellious side)
8. The basement looks awfully familiar, but there have been some changes in two decades!
The kitchen looks a little different too...
9. There was a pretty long break in filming back in the spring. Tapings were planned - you could buy tickets to sit in the audience - and then they were canceled for several weeks. Unclear as to why. Casting changes? More of the OG cast came on board, so they did re-writes? They are back to filming though, and seem to be planning to film for the next several weeks straight. ~u n c l e a r ~
10. Kurtwood Smith said in an interview last week that they’ve finished two episodes in front of a live audience, and that the response has been terrific so he thinks people are going to be very happy with the show. 😄
~ There are also several unverified rumors. I mentioned one of them earlier - that one of Leia’s new friends Jay is actually Kelso’s son. There are also unverified rumors that Jackie and Kelso are endgame - something about, they get married, divorced, then remarried. These have NOT been confirmed by the show or any of the actors yet, so they’re still unverified and could, theoretically, have changed. ~

Predictions if that 90s gets a Season Two?
the OGs play a much better part, with eric, donna, jackie and kelso all being recurring characters. we def get a double date w the two couples where they catch up and put their differences (? idk we still don't know why they're apparently not friends) aside. if jay/leia get back together by the end of the season (which will prob happen if we get more than 10 eps) there will be an episode dedicated to overprotective dad eric
nate and leia will inevitably get together. eye roll. snore. i think in the first ep, leia will be unsure ab telling nikki since nikki and nate broke up. the big plot twist will be that nate ended up breaking things off, not nikki, like we all assumed and nikki is actually very upset over it. which leads to
jay and nikki hooking up. this will be played for laughs more than like a ~serious romance (mostly bc sam and mace play off each other super well and the writers would be dumb if they didn't give them stuff together), and i think the audience will find out w ozzie and gwen walking in on them (and i think nikki will give a jackie-when-eric-and-donna-walked-in-on-her-and-hyde "ew get off me!" which i think sam would kill the delivery on). leia will be trying things out w nate but inevitably be jealous of this and this will cause drama w her and nate. gwen will be pissed off at nikki and they'll have a major fight, but then nikki will cry bc she found out ab nate/leia almost-kiss the previous summer and how sad she is ab being dumped and gwen will realize she cannot always defend her brother.
ozzie getting outed to/coming out to red. this will cause major brain decaying discourse in the fandom over whether or not red would be supportive. personally i think red would be like "i do not care who you like just don't make out w them in my basement." there is also a fun plot in another episode where ozzie and the gang go to a gay bar
there will be an episode where nate gets a crush on jackie and the episode will inevitably be called “jay’s mom has got in going on” and incels on twitter will whine bc stacy’s mom is a 00s song
jay/jackie scenes please
gwen is in her angst era and joins a 90s girl only biker gang and red and kitty have to go and get her back. she’s in her hyde/formans era
those are my only solid predictions, lmk what you guys think
