vyncent in a fight is breathtaking to watch. you don't knoe any electro vision wielders, but even if you did you're sure he'd completely outclass them. he swaps between his regular shortsword and such a wide variety of other weapons made of crackling purple energy completely fluidly, making it obvious how big the gap in skill is between you all. a vision is an extension of yourself, sure, but his is beyond intuitive.

you and dakota hadn't even been expecting a fight- you'd been sent to liyue on vyncent's first commission outside inazuma, and were steadily making your way to whatever cave you'd been sent to clear out. the mitachurl had come out of fucking nowhere and you'd barely pulled up your catalyst, mist solidifying around you into shards of ice, before it started barrelling at you. but vyncent just- ran directly in front of it, electro swirling around his hands to elnogate his sword qnd form a shield that stunned the monster long enough for vynce to attack.

all is to say- dakota next to you is holding his claymore and gapong in shock, and in front of you is a fucking mitachurl crumbling to ash and vyncent standing there panting.

you'd meant to just dispell your catalyst and run up to him and check he's ok, but instead you practically barrel into him and apparently some wires in both of your brains got totally crossed because when you hit him his arma go around you immediately and then you start hugging him like a madman. it's- nice. your face starts burning with a blush immediately, but he doesn't... let go, so neither do you. you press your face against his chest and feel the rapid beating if his heart and he rests his head in your hair and you both stand there, together.

but because dakota is an ass and you can't have nice things, you're startled out of your little moment when he yells out with excitement from where he's sifting through the dust and it jolts you enough to untangle yourself and start actually checking vyncent over for injuries. priorities, idiot.

This sequence in FF6 is one of my favourites in the game.

It doesn't further the plot, you don't gain anything from it, but it's so cute. It's like a filler episode from an anime.

if we're talking specifically about their queerness then sunny - his sister isn't queer for what he knows and he's been pressured through the church and religion as a whole to be straight too. and he's a bit shy and insecure about himself so he can't really be """confident""" in his potential queerness either. he's the type to go "oh if this outside force wants me to be straight then I will be straight" and doesn't really fight it until he meets attractive guys, in which then he's in crisis LOL. out of any of them he'd emphasize not dating a guy bc he's a guy but in a more self-conscious way than, say, kel. so he goes to the confessional like 7 times a week to repent for his bisexuality and it literally never works. but he'll figure it out

if we're talking about romance and relationships as a whole then aubrey - she's like the biggest secret nerd in the group, the most """pure""" in values despite her appearance and demeanor. she's probably less worried about her queerness though and more just awkward about taking next steps in relationships. hence why she's so indirect and messy with her feelings for sunny, who is a guy. like she doesn't really have much to worry about there and yet ... lol

kel has to get over his denial but it's less dramatic for him bc honestly a lot of things aren't super dramatic with kel. he's on the DL for a good while though bc of his status at school and how he's surrounded by straight-masculinity-obsessed basketball dudes

basil has accepted that he's gay since he was like 11. he's not insecure about it at all but doesn't really parade it around as he is in a catholic school and also gets bullied semi-regularly for "looking and acting gay"

Ok I am not maintagging this bc it's a self-indulgent ramble, but a bunch of things I've had floating around in my head led me to a character concept who would have been fascinating and dare I say hilarious option for Team Issylra's guests: an Ashari who is pretending to be a druid, but is actually secretly a cleric.

I've had the desire to run either a game or character where their true class is unknown and the goal is to hide it as long as they can, ever since it took Liam a full episode to realize Dariax was a sorcerer, rather than a cleric, in EXU. Unfortunately this is kind of rough on the battle classes (though Travis managed it with Chetney so idk get good). This sort of collided with two other thoughts, namely, Prism and the fact that she's a highly capable wizard but wasn't seen as such; and the fact that people have wanted characters who were more pro-deity to balance things out. (Personally I kind of like how Team Wildemount ended up unambiguously on the side of the gods and Team Issylra is straddling a line but I do get it.) It also fits into a lot of personal questions I have about the structure of the Ashari. And finally, there's a little bit of Hamid from RQG in here in terms of "I tried to be one thing, turns out I'm another."

Anyway consider: someone from one of the Ashari tribes other than the Air Ashari (ie, not someone Orym knew previously) who struggled with druid magic in their youth but wasn't necessarily inclined towards the other options the Ashari seem to present (fighters) either. While going off on their own, they received a vision or a call from a deity - personally, because I want someone different from the Wildmother for perspective, I think Sehanine or Corellon would be fun; much as I love Erathis I don't think she fits here. They begin to secretly worship this god, and pretend to be a druid. They seemingly struggle taking the shapes of beasts, so everyone thinks they're not terribly powerful, but they somehow developed a real knack for healing and are able to handle some other spells, so they're able to find a niche. Everyone thinks they're like a 3rd level druid who sucks at Wildshape, but actually they're an extremely devout and competent cleric of the Moonweaver and being teleported away is actually incredibly exciting and validating for them. You'd also get to see a wildly different perspective on the Ashari (who I think are like...both unambiguously a force for good, but the imperfections thereof tend to go unexamined, and there's a weird cognitive dissonance about them in a few places within the fandom this campaign) and you could even have them be from Terrah and have some more insight into what was going on there. And mechanically this gets fun because you could go for nature domain and blend in better with druids, but you could also go for trickery (lean into deception) or the moon or twilight domains and just get interesting with spell choice.

if you go back to the start of "#gau tag" i have all their kits posted BUT i will give explanations for their visions. however i can never remember vision lore and dont know much abt hydro dendro or geo so if theyre here and i fuck it up. sorry :(

dakota - pyro. duh. i could get funky eith it if i REALLY wanted to but honestly i cant think of what i would make it otherwise... pyro is for a burning passion and dakota is VERY passionate about helping people. similar to canon he got it when his rooftop girl fell off a cliff

william - CRYO. CRYO. CRYO there is no doubt in my heart that hes cryo. this guy LOVES duality hes life and death at the same time yknow. also its blue, hes blue... have been debating giving him a delusion since in my au mal is more akin to an abyss lector (spirit world = abyss?) but like i really just want to do it so he can have blue flames sometimes too

vyncent - electro ^_^ i cant remember my exact logic but it made sense at the time and its purple, hes purple... honestly rn i cant remember anything about the common traits between electro users so maybe this could change

People will constantly complain about murderers in kdrama romcoms but then they don't watch Gaus Electronics, and the tag for Frankly Speaking is completely empty except for a couple of promo posts that are probably from bots. Which I know it just started today, but still.

Anyway we just finished watching the first episode and it was hilarious. It's just the first episode so I may be wrong, but I doubt there will be a murderer.

The spousal person pointed out that Gaus Electronics and this show are heavier on the comedy than the romance, and romcom people probably want shows that are heavier on the romance than the comedy. But I think it's pretty hard to keep a pure romcom going for 12 to 16 episodes, as opposed to a two hour or so movie. So of course they need some drama along with the romance and the comedy.

Anyway, is bed time now. Good night!

Oh, and Frankly Speaking is on Netflix if you want to check out a silly fun show. We took two screenshots of it to add to our kdrama album, and as the spousal person said, two screenshots in the first episode means it's off to a very good start. :)
