IDs for Limbus

SO i have just had a funny idea cross my mind basically we all know that Xiao ID will come someday, right? much like Yan, much like Kali, yada yada yada and we know these three all have their 'cool awakening' skill that PM will integrate in game (i will personally ensure they will) so what if we tie their awakenings to sp and conditions say kali id, upon reaching 45 SP and killing X guys can use her defensive skill to manifest Red Mist. this changes her skills, replaces ZAYIN ego with Great Split: Horizontal or something, and to represent the original passive, upon failing to inflict X damage with her skills her stagger threshold rises a bit Xiao ID -- basically the same thing, upon reaching 45 SP she manifests Iron Lotus and burns down the house but Yan? imagine if they did the opposite. he starts as a perfectly normal Proxy unit, discarding his skills, benefiting from Singleton (somehow), but upon reaching -45 SP he DISTORTS and changes his passives, skills, speed, resistances and everything to that of a DISTORTED YAN BOSS. like IMAGINE THAT. and because he doesn't give a single fuck about what people tell him and follows prescripts only, he gains 'indiscriminate' on every skill. and to deal with him he has a passive that's called 'The Weaving Word' or something that basically acts similarly to Pluto's contract his teammates have to follow the 'prescript' which is given to them at the beginning of each turn if they carry out their prescript Yan ID cannot target them if the fail, however, there is a chance he will attack them and he has his AOE attack replace his ZAYIN ego too obv

and dont get me started on Ensemble IDs who all imo should have their double-down distorted modes built into them. Macrosis' Ensemble Rework is canon and i simply do not care. let my boy Blue Reverberation blast his theme for everyone to groove. LIKE IMAGINE THAT

How do you guys think Gasharpoon works?

In the beginning cutscene of the fight it's implied that the crew member got shoved into the canisters of Gasharpoon (as the camera was focused on Pip's canister as he laughs) but after Queequeg's phase she's still There, just. Very Badly Pallidified.

So what do you think's going on there?

I played railway three again

Yeah I did this a month ago and just now felt like posting something

My main strategy for segment one was to have a set up turn where I fired off bodysack with rcliff and lobcorp Faust’s skill two for the haste, and then use Hex Nail -> Quick Supression for the three pierce fragility, one envy fragility, and four normal fragility, which then led into Harpoon of Obsession, D.D.E.D.R., and Rip Space. I would have overclocked it for more envy fragility instead of pierce fragility but I was too poor on resources teehee. I reset SO many times for that four turn siltcurrent fight, I managed to kill it before it even started its actual gimmick. Good stuff.

Segment two is where I debuted my much more experimental, some may say Fuckung Stupid strategies, featuring stars like LCCB Ishy, Butler Faust(‘s support passive), Ring Yi Sang(‘s support passive) and yeah it’s Wingbeat I used Wingbeat on Skin prophet. You can tell by the five turn count that I got tired of resetting for it EXTREMELY quickly and stopped trying at four reuses. very sad. This unfortunate strategy had the side effect of making Ardor Blossom Moth SO FUCKGINTNT ANNOYING I only played it out like three times before I just said fuck it and kept my six turn win.

Segment three brought back an actual good Ishmael ID as well as adding Regret Faust, Spicebush Yi Sang, and Classic Character Cinq Sinclair. The rude and worthless three wave mermaid encounter was rude and worthless as usual and I was *fine* with seven turns but the TRIO was a real fight, that one was fucked up. I’m genuinely so fucking proud of a five-turn trio, bursting down Ahab through two health bars across two turns was extremely difficult to plan out and just as tough to execute, this was the longest I spent on any single fight for sure. I kinda dropped the ball on Gasharpoon though, ten turns is pretty pathetic. Worse yet that I got her down to SIX HP on turn nine and just. didn’t reset. why? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t kn

Spiral of Contempt was boring and annoying as usual I used a sinking team I love my sinking team I could have knocked off a turn or two with more attempts but I didn’t want to keep fighting Spiral of Contempt.

Limbus tamer 3: Le retour de la vengeance

This time around will be for Canto 5 characters and some extras I felt inspired to do. I tried to make the lines more "coherent" than last time though still the constrait of having digimon that actually digivolve into another.

So grab your harpoons 'cause we're going under the sea !

Team Rocket Muffin and Sablé Effie and Saude get the honor of being the first Jogress evolution line of this series as they were always present as a pair ... until Outis mercy killed Effie that is. I chose this line out of the other 02 fusion as it was the first thing to come to mind while I was putting this lines together ... also because I don't feel Imperialdramon suits them and I don't vibe with Shakkoumon.

Wall Might Siegfried gets the Justimon line for his "heroic" persona. Not much to say aside that I did consider putting Starmon and SuperStarmon in there.

Smee is pretty straightforward as the pirate get pirate themed digimon, I preferred Mermaimon to CaptainHookmon because well she ain't captain Hook plus it links back to the mermaid trade that the Twinhook pirate dabble into when not ransoming people. Red Hookmon is best Hookmon.

The filter Big Brother got himself a BanchoLeomon . Let's be real, he'd probably go the Marcus/Masaru route and just punch digimon in the face and win, possibly de-digivolve them back to In-training/Baby level like he punched the ID out of Ishmael. Now I'm imagining that cutscene with Ricardo bitchslapping Ishmael's partner digimon and throwing it back at her forcing them both out of their power up.

I gave the indigo Elder the Vikemon line, minus Gomamon (The fault lies with you, Ishmael!), though admittedly he'd just ballista/harpoon digimon like he did to Ricardo if push come to shove.

The Pequod trio are a package deal, quite literally with Gaslight harpoon Ahab, so I focus their lines to have digimons that are part of Chimairamon :

Gasharpoon Ahab got Chimairamon since she absorbed her crew into her EGO, this matches with Chimairamon being a mishmash of several digimon plus you could infer she fed the data of her crew to her partner when manifesting her EGO.

Normal Ahab had to have whamon due to her obsession and to mirror Ishmael, who I also gave a Whamon, and the fact that she's compare to the great lake whales.

Queequeg has Monochromon since she's really tanky and the rest of her line reflect her harpooner role.

Starbuck got the Gabumon line mostly because he's loyal with CresGarurumon reflecting that he hit like a goddamned truck in the trio boss fight !!!!

And that's all folks ! Now to wait for Canto 6 to drop or when inspiration strikes again.

Call Her Ishmael (or: a trans reading of one of my favorite Limbus characters)

Hi, I have been thinking about writing something like this since Canto V first released and today I finally felt inspired to actually make this... A compilation of the parts of Ishmael's story that lead me to reading her as trans <3 and why I think that understanding her character though that lens works so well

We begin with a woman stuck in the mundane. No plans for the future, no dreams of a life beyond the one she is currently living in, and that life is one she has long grown tired of. And she decides she would rather quit living that life, even if it would kill her. Everyone told her not to do this, but she wanted (needed) to do something new with her life.

She finds Ahab here, when she is at this low where she is unsure of where to go from here now that she has cast her old life away. She looks at Ahab and sees a woman with goals, determination, serious plans for the future she is willing to commit to. And she wants to be just like that woman. She wants to be a woman who will choose what her destiny is, choose what life she has.

"I hoped to be like her one day. To be someone who will face the destiny of her own choosing. To have something I could give it my all with conviction and without a moment of hesitation."

And when she gets on that boat and starts this new chapter in her life, well. There she meets Queequeg, and is asked for her name...

Queequeg asking her name, something that surprises Ishmael, and complimenting her hair is a defining moment in Ishmael's life and in their relationship. And not only is it the first conversation they have, it is the also last thing Queequeg asks of her. To hear Ishmael's name one more time is something that will bring not only herself comfort, but she knows will stabilize Ishmael as well in this moment. That it will bring her back to when they had first met, to the fond memories of a good friend who had asked for her name. Ishmael's name, her identity, the one she forged on that boat even through great difficulty is what shaped her into being herself... That is how their relationship begins and ends...

There is also a recurring theme of being reborn, of happiness being found in another life that is kinder to them both. Ishmael dreams of a life where they can break out of their cocoons. She wants to bury her past and had no dreams of the future before joining the Pequod, before meeting Queequeg and finding someone she wants a future with. Through Queequeg, through the woman who thinks her hair is the brilliant color of sunset and asked for her name, Ishmael is capable of imagining a destiny of her own choosing just like she had wanted when she met Ahab. (She isn't able to chase after it, not yet, because of Ahab's influence over the Pequod, but she for the first time can at least dream of a future where she is happy)

When tragedy strikes, she is left as, in her mind, the sole survivor of the crew, she has lost Queequeg, lost Ahab, lost her chance at finding happiness and purpose. It's then that she takes Queequeg's rope (the thing that kept her alive! Queequeg throughout their time knowing each other is always there to save her and help her keep on living) and makes it into a headband, attaches cute bows to it, a bit of femininity that is intrinsically attached to the woman who helped save her. She grows out her hair, her beautiful sunset colored hair, and it is so heart warming. For a long time I assumed that her not cutting her hair was done out of mourning, out of an unwillingness to move on from the life she had on that ship, but instead it was because Queequeg had loved her and she had loved her friend in kind.

In conclusion I love Ishmael very much and I like to rotate her around. Everything from her metaphors of being stuck in a cocoon and wanting to break free, her envy of Ahab's ability to find purpose so easily, her relationship with Queequeg that helped inspire her to dream for more to dream of a future where she is happy,, it is all very good and to me reading her as trans strengthens the themes of her story. I've watched the final part of the Canto V dungeon several times over when my friends arrive at that part of the story, and the Call Me Ishmael line always makes me start tearing up.

Ishmael starts as an unhappy office worker with no future and it is a life she cannot continue living, she meets an older woman who has the drive and passion to chase after her goals and wants to be like her when she is older, she has a life defining moment where another woman asks for her name and wants to be good friends with her, that woman will save her in so many ways and she will love that woman so deeply for how she helped influence her life, she sees herself trapped in a cocoon and wants to break free, she dreams of her and that woman will persevere, how they will live out the rest of their days, countless mirror worlds of happiness spent at each other's side. She starts the game proper with her hair grown long, ribbons attached to a rope that helped save her that represents the woman who had saved her before. She ends her chapter finding a new adventure to go on, one will she get to explore the world she lives in, she has found a compass in Dante who will help her chart her path forward.

Also I know we all make jokes about how inconsistent the art is when it comes to her chest but like... Come on look at the difference here.... I'm correct about this. But I mostly wanted to make this post to point out that her narrative arc is also trans and it goes so much deeper than just art inconsistencies.
