So the original scripts/treatments of Atlantis all either had 1. Helga kissing Milo and sacrificing herself for him or 2. Helga and Rourke being lovers who turned on each other!!!

They’re all up on the Atlantis: The Lost Empireposting Facebook group to read:> (Thanks Tab!!!) and they’re pretty awesome! Also involving Helga being scared of a rat (Milo’s discarded animal sidekick Plato) which is kind of hilarious bc Helga as we know her would never.

They kind of made her sound a lot more shallow and dependent on Rourke in the first script, and her og mission was apparently supposed to be to protect Milo so she kicks some Ulysses-crew-ass in his defense too (and that eventually leads up to her kissing him which was REALLY weird since he was already kind of with Kida at that point, and then immediately dying after lmao. iirc her last line in the first script was “never thought I’d fall for a bookworm” which is just not the vibe.)

So let’s be thankful neither of those things made their way into the final script because Helga was doing fine on her own💅

Also get a load of Gary Trousdale’s fuck-ass spelling of Rourke bc that’s still how he calls him! On purpose!
