Oddly Octagon

If I'm honest, I wanted to build you a geodesic dome home, but short of retaking high school geometry and spending the rest of the calendar year fiddling with TOOL, a fabulously prefab octagon home will have to do.

The original octagon house craze dates back to a curious blip of history in the 1850s, when the book The Octagon House, A Home For All made the case for the efficiency of the form. (An octagon encloses more floor space per linear foot of exterior wall, than any other structure, reducing both building costs and heat loss through the walls.) Because of this 19th century craze, it's surprisingly tricky to find much about exactly why octagonal homes started making a comeback in the '60s, but we'll chalk it up to, I don't know, hippies?

This home might be perfect for: retired sims of a certain age who consider themselves to be socially liberal but fiscally conservative, eccentric neighbors that Nancy Landgraab has one-sided beef with, or anyone looking for a unique desert home!
