Thinking about Hutchins and Harumi I'm so ill. Garmadon Rulez did something to me. He sang her to sleep every night. He took her to libraries so she could research despite her parents disapproving. He gave her that journal to help her cope with her trauma.

He didn't have to do any of this. None of these things were because of his obligation to the royal family really and in fact he sort of went behind their backs taking her to the library of domu (even if it took some convincing). He was the first to suspect her of her plans but didn't tell anyone, not even the ninja when he definitely had a proper chance to. I think he genuinely just cared about her. And that's making me so

Reading Garmadon Rulez is an experience when you realized that Harumi can draw (like Wu from Book of Spinjitzu and Cole!)

just realized i've never shared my Garmadon Lives AU idea with you guys

it's something i came up with while watching season 5 with @destinysbounty

you know how in season 5, sensei garmadon is trapped in the cursed realm by unbreakable chains? it got me thinking - what if there was a way to break those chains, but it was just beyond what an individual (like lloyd) could do and instead needed to be more of an act of fate?

basically the premise for this au is that morro isnt content with just possessing lloyd, but instead finds a way to actually steal his powers/destiny, becoming the green ninja

but a version of the green ninja who's never actually...fought the Ultimate Battle from the prophecy. and garmadon was kind of a key part of that battle

so destiny itself causes the chains to break in an attempt to set the Ultimate Battle back up for morro to fight, which means that lloyd is able to successfully rescue his father when he goes to the cursed realm

so sensei garmadon comes back! i was picturing him coming back fully because he physically went to the cursed realm, body and all, but i could also seem him coming back as a ghost although in that case i'd need to rename the au

so lloyd and sensei garmadon go to confront morro together (basically the chase-through-the-realms fight from the end of the season), and the fight being 2-against-1 helps balance out the fact that now morro has the green ninja's power

they're able to take lloyd's power back during that fight, and the rest of the season pretty much plays out the same as the original

now, i haven't really decided how this changes season 6 (probably not much) and season 7, but i have absolutely thought about how season 8 exists in this universe.

the sons of garmadon still exist, and harumi is still their leader. but rather than wanting to bring garmadon back from the dead, she wants to bring garmadon back to his old evil self

basically, she thinks this version of garmadon is weak (pretty sure that actually is something said in Garmadon Rulez!) and wants him to go back to what she sees as his stronger self

she still ends up hearing a voice from the mask, but rather than lord garmadon's voice, it's more a general personification of the evil magic in the mask. it promises that it can help her restore the version of garmadon that defeated the devourer

rather than a resurrection spell, harumi gets her hands on a spell that can essentially re-awaken the darkness in an oni's heart

(the reason i say specifically an oni's heart is that i'm picturing the spells being from the same source, and it's all oni-related magic. and also for another reason we'll get to later.)

although having garmadon around and actively trying to stop her once the truth is revealed does make things more difficult, she succeeds in the end, turning sensei garmadon back into lord garmadon

(i'm picturing that playing out in the same order as the resurrection - it's assumed she failed, she gets taken to prison, but then the spell does in fact start working)

from there, everything plays out pretty much the same as in the actual show, with one exception:

surprise! this is also a Mystake Lives AU now!

basically, instead of getting killed when she gets caught by emperor garmadon, she gets the same spell used on her, turning her evil

however, after the oni trilogy, she basically does the same thing as garmadon of going off on her own adventures and vanishing, rather than enacting any grand evil plans

so in season 11, during that part in the ice chapter when sensei wu and p.i.x.a.l. are trying to reach the ninja but don't have enough traveler's tea, they decide to try and track down mystake to see if they can convince her to help

this turns into a little adventure of its own. they do eventually find her, but are unsuccessful in convincing her to help them

however, there are some hints that they might be starting to get through to her and the evilness induced by the spell isn't neccessarily permanent, foreshadowing garmadon's arc during crystalized

and also leaving mystake as a possible future character because it's what she deserves

possession/skybound/day of the departed but the version of that trilogy that exists in my head. like there's the oni trilogy, and there's the ghost trilogy

my knowledge of the extra material isnt huge but i did love garmadon rulez, which i stumbled on the english translation of recently. i'm hoping to get around to reading a lot more eventually like the garmadon graphic novel etc. i REALLY want to read the dark island trilogy but i couldn't find a pdf

How does Harumi’s loneliness work exactly here? It was kinda implied in Garmadon Rulez (also will Harumi get a diary here?) with how her adopted parents never allowed her to leave the palace and how dismissive they were towards her obvious issues (which none of her friends will do, right?)

...Harumi does kind of get a diary, actually.

Yet it's bold to assume she's not gonna feel isolated due to the fact literally every single one of her friends is keeping the exact same secret from her which she's bound to find out eventually, that everyone seems to know more about what's going on and specifically aren't letting her in about it (for overall protective reasons, but it still sucks) on top of them all still rooting for the Ninja/despising Garmadon which is the opposite of how she feels now thus can't connect with them on that front anymore, her uncle doing his best to care for her but he is woefully under-equipped for the sudden responsibility of such and isn't quite sensitive enough to her needs/wants, her actual two best friends suddenly walking on eggshells around her because they don't how to break even more horrible news unto her already downward spiral of a life, and the one person she does start getting close to/opening up to again is hiding the worst truth of all...

But it's aaaaall gonna get explored sooner or later...starting with if I could just finish the next chapter... *curls into ball and sobs*

i read one of the ninjago books (i think it was called garmadon rulez? iforgot honestly) and it had like harumis whole plan and apparently shes been planning for a year and honestly the book changed how i saw her a bit, she even analyzed the ninjas strengths and weaknesses in the book

also morro's plan is pretty smart if u think abt it

Woaw, I didn't know about this. You must tell me the book's title if you find it or remember it😍. I knew that they are very smart and know how to claim what they (think) they deserve.

Harumi's acting is my favorite like how her character never broke in front of them until the 3th mask is amazing. I think It's maybe because her princess responsibelities what she had. Her plan never failed and It's pretty impressive. If I were her I would definitely fail because I would be that excited. Just imagine waiting for your moment for years and now It's finally happening.

I think she's one of the most well-written side characters, because her story and reasons are well made.

If anytime she comes back into the series I would gladly watch it, because I wanna see her true self and not the "perfect princess" or the "revenge thirsty" person she was.

I also wanna know how she ends up with Lloyd. Are they friends? Strangers? Or maybe even lovers? Where did she go? What does she do now that everything is fixed in Crystalized?.

I'm not even sure that it would be a healthy relationship after everything what happened.

Actually I had a very similar relationship with a person like their's in season 7. Thinking about my experiments I don't think their relationship would be healthy, but who knows.

About Morro, I haven't paid enough attention to Morro, because I only watched it once, but his skills amazed me. I'm planning on rewatch the whole season so I'll get to know him better.

Planning for 1000th years

So the Overlord has been planning since his “defeat” to the FSM. He wanted a perfect vessel, So he corrupted the Devourer in order for Garmadon to go to the Dark island and everything that happened in S2. But he seemed to believe the body Harumi gave him to be the perfect one...So what if Harumi was just a next paw? A backup plan if Garmadon wasn’t the perfect vessel. He manipuled Garmadon entire life, so why not also Harumi? Hating the ninjas because of them failing to kill the Devourer, Anger at Lloyd for not saving her, Fear of Death. Lloyd says Harumi is Anger, Hate and Fear, everything that gives the Overlord power. He waits for Harumi to ressurect Garmadon and them die in order to trully contact her, it’s a perfect plan! If we use the book “Garmadon Rulez”, it’s said that Harumi heard a voice coming from the Oni mask...What if that was the Overlord starting the next ressurection?

Hold up- I just remembered my self insert/oc au I had from annold wattpad story i wrote called "let run, boss" :0

So, it's post s10 cuz that was the last season I watched (look, Garmadon vanished after that so I didn't care lmao) and it was made around the same-ish point of Vol 1 of GARMADON (the comic series) but I could read it at that point so was left guessing and waiting.

Anyway, in this Au, my oc (who was sort of a self insert but okay) was a mener of the sons of Garmadon as a lowly biker.

She was roughly 17 (but I'd age her up a bit in my rewrite to like 21 or something), and I named her Livvian because I liked the name. (I ain't even a girl, bru, I'm a twink now) and she went overlooked by the police because she was such small rankings as a mechanic.

She quite literally had no psrt in all the bullshit but just found the whole glorification of Garmadon interesting and got caught up in the fact they had all the bloody merch created of that man. (Yes, there is in-universe merch of him oer the "Garmadon rulez" book) and then she kinda found it fun to ride on bikes all day amd fix up the old one here or there.

Idk man, I might rewrite the au because I am significantly better at story building rather than: "Garmadon is by lake. Liv finds him. Give adress. He trust her and finds her. Lives there. Lol."

If it sounds familiar, it's cuz that's basically what his arch was in crystallised. Live with human. Human help. Liv was Vinny before Vinny was revealed to have let Garmadon live him 💀

It goes to show how bring my au must be because it's replicated by the show with ease without any thought- my story (for the most part) wasn't anything new, exciting, or even creative. All my personal favourites feom my book were form my brother who gave me ideas and titles while I wrote them. He was the power house of my creativity and he hasn't watched ninjago since s4 (and he watched the movie with me like 100 times)
