Thinking about Hutchins and Harumi I'm so ill. Garmadon Rulez did something to me. He sang her to sleep every night. He took her to libraries so she could research despite her parents disapproving. He gave her that journal to help her cope with her trauma.

He didn't have to do any of this. None of these things were because of his obligation to the royal family really and in fact he sort of went behind their backs taking her to the library of domu (even if it took some convincing). He was the first to suspect her of her plans but didn't tell anyone, not even the ninja when he definitely had a proper chance to. I think he genuinely just cared about her. And that's making me so

personally, i think that reducing harumi THAT MUCH into a lacking character no complexity no layers whatsoever JUST because she is evil is pretty stupid.

 how would you feel, you are a child. what? 10 at most? with loving parents, they are your WORLD. then suddenly your world is taken away from you. the people who were supposed to be your protectors failed you, because they were careless. your idols failed you. atleast, that is what you believe. 

harumi was a character blinded by DELUSION. 

where does this delusion come from? 

you are a child who had just lost the two most important people in your life. you are adopted by the royal family. sounds great right? a dream come true!!! in Garmadon Rulez, we learn that this is not the case. her entire childhood became full of neglect. she was forced into a position immediately after losing her parents where she has to conform to all these rules, to become ninjagos princess, part of the royal family. 

there was NEVER any mention of how they helped her, aside from housing her. there was NEVER any mention of her being able to cope with the loss of her parents or the monarchs offering any. she was immediately pushed into a life of etiquette and perfection, and as a child, that messes with your head. alot. 

instead of healing and controlling her grief properly, the environment she was raised in caused her to focus on her anger instead. 

"straight forward terrible people" im. ggggsggv. 

whatever. sure. shes a terrible person. however!!! as her defender!!!!!!!! i will stand by the fact that this is NOT her fault. i don't blame her for being a terrible person. 

in garmadon rulez!!!!!! harumi literally!!!! literally heard the voice of garmadon sometime between possession and SoG!!!!!! that PUSHED her delusion EVEN FURTHER that garmadon was her savior. 

IT IS NOT HER FAULT SHES A TERRIBLE PERSON. BLAME EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!! THE ROYALS!!!!!!!!! LLOYD!!!!! THE NINJA!!!!!!!! BLAME ME!!!!!!! ME!!!!!! ME BLAME ME!!!!!! 

besides that. SINCE WHEN. since when did being a "straightforward terrible person" stop you from being complex????? villains can be complex!!!! theyre terrible but still COMPLEX.

so like in garmadon rulez harumi says she has garmadon bedsheets and posters or whatever which implies that villains in ninjago get merch made of them. furthering this, do you guys think that theres morro merch. like t shirts and whatever with his ugly mug on them. the museum gift shop HAS to sell them right he was in an exhibit there. im asking all this because i want to draw echo and harumi wearing morro t shirts to piss him off

I didn't say it was common knowledge, but a ninja fan would know more than the average ninjagian. Right? You'd think so, since he bragged about how much he knew about them? The ninja record their adventures to an extent (at the very least in police records). What did the city folk think happened when the oni invaded? lmao The ninja didn't share what happened or why? Also if mystaké was just telling anyone who asks nicely about the oni & dragon, shouldn't more people know? Lol.

You know what this reminds me of: the lost word for 🐻, we call them bears but that was just the old word for brown. There was a word for 🐻 before but people were afraid speaking of them would summon them so the word was forgotten. the dreamzzz crossover addresses this, so idk it's funny.

just realized i've never shared my Garmadon Lives AU idea with you guys

it's something i came up with while watching season 5 with @destinysbounty

you know how in season 5, sensei garmadon is trapped in the cursed realm by unbreakable chains? it got me thinking - what if there was a way to break those chains, but it was just beyond what an individual (like lloyd) could do and instead needed to be more of an act of fate?

basically the premise for this au is that morro isnt content with just possessing lloyd, but instead finds a way to actually steal his powers/destiny, becoming the green ninja

but a version of the green ninja who's never actually...fought the Ultimate Battle from the prophecy. and garmadon was kind of a key part of that battle

so destiny itself causes the chains to break in an attempt to set the Ultimate Battle back up for morro to fight, which means that lloyd is able to successfully rescue his father when he goes to the cursed realm

so sensei garmadon comes back! i was picturing him coming back fully because he physically went to the cursed realm, body and all, but i could also seem him coming back as a ghost although in that case i'd need to rename the au

so lloyd and sensei garmadon go to confront morro together (basically the chase-through-the-realms fight from the end of the season), and the fight being 2-against-1 helps balance out the fact that now morro has the green ninja's power

they're able to take lloyd's power back during that fight, and the rest of the season pretty much plays out the same as the original

now, i haven't really decided how this changes season 6 (probably not much) and season 7, but i have absolutely thought about how season 8 exists in this universe.

the sons of garmadon still exist, and harumi is still their leader. but rather than wanting to bring garmadon back from the dead, she wants to bring garmadon back to his old evil self

basically, she thinks this version of garmadon is weak (pretty sure that actually is something said in Garmadon Rulez!) and wants him to go back to what she sees as his stronger self

she still ends up hearing a voice from the mask, but rather than lord garmadon's voice, it's more a general personification of the evil magic in the mask. it promises that it can help her restore the version of garmadon that defeated the devourer

rather than a resurrection spell, harumi gets her hands on a spell that can essentially re-awaken the darkness in an oni's heart

(the reason i say specifically an oni's heart is that i'm picturing the spells being from the same source, and it's all oni-related magic. and also for another reason we'll get to later.)

although having garmadon around and actively trying to stop her once the truth is revealed does make things more difficult, she succeeds in the end, turning sensei garmadon back into lord garmadon

(i'm picturing that playing out in the same order as the resurrection - it's assumed she failed, she gets taken to prison, but then the spell does in fact start working)

from there, everything plays out pretty much the same as in the actual show, with one exception:

surprise! this is also a Mystake Lives AU now!

basically, instead of getting killed when she gets caught by emperor garmadon, she gets the same spell used on her, turning her evil

however, after the oni trilogy, she basically does the same thing as garmadon of going off on her own adventures and vanishing, rather than enacting any grand evil plans

so in season 11, during that part in the ice chapter when sensei wu and p.i.x.a.l. are trying to reach the ninja but don't have enough traveler's tea, they decide to try and track down mystake to see if they can convince her to help

this turns into a little adventure of its own. they do eventually find her, but are unsuccessful in convincing her to help them

however, there are some hints that they might be starting to get through to her and the evilness induced by the spell isn't neccessarily permanent, foreshadowing garmadon's arc during crystalized

and also leaving mystake as a possible future character because it's what she deserves

On page 47 of Garmadon Rulez Harumi mentions in her research notes that Lloyd was the one to release the serpentine

i read one of the ninjago books (i think it was called garmadon rulez? iforgot honestly) and it had like harumis whole plan and apparently shes been planning for a year and honestly the book changed how i saw her a bit, she even analyzed the ninjas strengths and weaknesses in the book

also morro's plan is pretty smart if u think abt it

Woaw, I didn't know about this. You must tell me the book's title if you find it or remember it😍. I knew that they are very smart and know how to claim what they (think) they deserve.

(This post will be about me yapping about Harumi)

Harumi's acting is my favorite like how her character never broke in front of them until the 3th mask is amazing. I think It's maybe because her princess responsibelities what she had. Her plan never failed and It's pretty impressive. If I were her I would definitely fail because I would be that excited. Just imagine waiting for your moment for years and now It's finally happening.

I think she's one of the most well-written side characters, because her story and reasons are well made.

If anytime she comes back into the series I would gladly watch it, because I wanna see her true self and not the "perfect princess" or the "revenge thirsty" person she was.

I also wanna know how she ends up with Lloyd. Are they friends? Strangers? Or maybe even lovers? Where did she go? What does she do now that everything is fixed in Crystalized?.

I'm not even sure that it would be a healthy relationship after everything what happened.

Actually I had a very similar relationship with a person like their's in season 7. Thinking about my experiments I don't think their relationship would be healthy, but who knows.

About Morro, I haven't paid enough attention to Morro, because I only watched it once, but his skills amazed me. I'm planning on rewatch the whole season so I'll get to know him better.

After reading Garmadon Rulez, I seriously want to know how the hell the writers came to the conclusion that Harumi has "feelings" for Lloyd, like, the only positive thing she ever said about him was that she liked his golden suit better, like, that's it, that's the only positive thing we'll get from Harumi
