So he got to work: bought gallons of paints and a handful of brushes and rollers and drop cloths. He painted and painted, ignoring the pain in his shoulders and wrists, because he needed to do this for his partner.

“James…” he heard suddenly. He swiveled around, flashing a wide, albeit sheepish smile at Regulus, overnight bag slung over his shoulder.

“You’re home!” James knew he must have looked a mess, with paint smears on his face and on the tips of his hair.
