Seoul Trip | 2019
Finally crossed off Seoul on our must-travel list! So we officially quit our jobs to move to Seoul to become K-pop stars!
Just kidding. But we did get a taste of it when we visited and learned K-pop dance and filmed a short music video!
We also walked an alpaca, dressed in hanboks, ate lots of street food, visited a meerkat cafe, explored Nami island where the infamous Winter Sonata was filmed at, and lots more! (See video below)

Travelogue: Annyeong Seoul (See You Again!)
Travelogue: Annyeong Seoul (See You Again!)
We booked a driver through Seoul Private Driver for our day tour which would take us to Alpaca world, Gangchon Rail Bike & Nami Island and pickup was at 7am. I thought it would take us 3 hours to get to Alpaca world hence I timed it at 7am (cos the place opens at 10am). If I knew it would only take 2 hours, I would have scheduled the pickup at 8am -.- And the driver also didn’t initiate to let…

Jihyo’s Date
Part 156(TIS)
It’s one week before Christmas and everything is going smoothly. The Christmas tree decorations have been completed, the Korean members are visiting their families, while the momo, sana, dahyun and tzuyu are at the house.
You remember the promise that you made to Jihyo about taking her on a date before Christmas. You ask the remaining members if they could take of jisoo, Ari and Hina for the day, while you and Jihyo go on a date.
“Of course, you can leave the babies to us” says Sana.
“Go have fun and enjoy yourselves” says Dahyun.
“Thank you, you all have been very helpful” you say.
You let Jihyo know that it is best to leave within an hour to avoid any traffic.
Jihyo responds “Kay” and begins to get dressed.
In the meanwhile, you take this opportunity to get things ready.
A lunch and snack bag is packed for the trip as well as other items you all might need.
Stopping by dahyun’s and Sana’s room you say farewell to both Ari and Hina since they are both asleep.
Jihyo finishes getting dressed and gets Jisoo dressed up as well. Once she’s dressed Jihyo takes Jisoo to sana.
Having everything ready you both get in the car and head out.
You find the main road and head out onto the highway towards Gangchon rail park.
It’s been a place where Jihyo had been asking to try out for a while. Since she adventurous and enjoys trying new things you decided to take her there.
You did a bit of research and found some near by spots to eat and spend time together.
It’s been about thirty minutes of drive when you hear Jihyo say “aww no! Why now.”
Hearing her say that directs your attention to her “what… what’s wrong Jihyo?”
She turns towards you and you see her shirt a bit wet. “I’m starting to leak” she says.
“Do you mean that you’re lactating?”
“Yes, I normally feed Jisoo and the twins around this time I don’t usually have accidents but since they were all asleep, I wasn’t able to. I also didn’t pump or have anything with me” she says in a sad tone.
“Do you want to turn back and maybe try again another time? you ask.
“No! I was really looking forward to spending some time with you. Me leaking shouldn’t stop us from having our date. What if you help me out with this?”
“What do you mean?”
“What if you help me by drinking some of it” she says with a shy of embarrassment.
“Hey, Siri. Look for the nearest rest stop.”
“Nearest rest stop located within 10 minutes, updating route to location.
The sound of the engine roars as the accelerator is stepped a bit harder. You arrive to the rest stop and find the nearest shaded spot and park.
“Do you want some coffee? you ask.
“Yes, actually here, ask them if they can pour the coffee into the thermo. Ohh and can you buy some some bread?”
“I’ll be right back. Give me a couple of minutes.”
While you get the coffee, Jihyo takes the opportunity to put the visors on the windshield for privacy. She moves the seats forward and takes a seat in the back.
You arrive with the coffee and bread, you open the door, only to find Jihyo in the back seat with her blouse half way undone.
With excitement you jump into the back seat of the car and close the door. Placing the food and drinks in the cup holders you turn to admire jihyo.
“Sit comfortably, I’m going to mount you” she says with a smile.
There is no thinking twice about it and do as you are told. Sitting as still as possible, while Jihyo gets on topic of you.
Feeling the weight on her of her body on yours was something you missed.
She undoes the buttons of her blouse until there is nothing but her showing bare chest.
“Come on, i cant be the only one with their shirt off, right?” This makes you quickly take yours off. She places her hands on your chest and says “yes, that’s better.”
Looking at her beautiful and large breast, you place both hands, trying to cup them. Giving them a nice squeeze you see that Jihyo is enjoying it.
“I love the way you touch me. Haven’t felt your hands on my body in a while.”
“I’m sorry Jihyo, I’ve been so busy that I’ve neglected you.”
“It’s okay, we will have our time but right now you need to help me with my problem.”
You continue to squeeze and play with jihyo’s breast and notice that her nipples are getting hard. They poke out even more, which captivates your attention.
You give them a nice and soft pinch which causes milk to squirt out and hit your face and chest.
“Don’t pinch my nipples like that. You’ll waste all my milk like that” jihyo says with a pout on her face.
“I’m sorry jihyo, its… its just that your breast look so good that I couldn’t help myself.”
“Well don’t just stare at them, give them a taste.”
There is no need to tell you twice, with excitement you quickly take her right nipple into your mouth and begin to suck.
Jihyo moans as you continue to suck on her breast, the liquid flowing down your throats as a sweet but unique taste. You try your best to suck as much as you can and only stop when you have to catch your breath.
Letting go of her nipple, you try to catch your breath. You look into her eyes and see her smile.
She cups her breast with her hand, gives it a nice squeeze and milk comes shooting out of her nipple.
Milk drips down your mouth as you try to catch as much as you can.
“Aww is my poor baby tired of all that sucking? What am i going to do with my other tit? she asks.
You bury your face again and suck until there is no more milk left.
After emptying the right one you move on to the left. Before you take her nipple into your mouth you see that her left is leaking.
The semi clear fluid runs from her nipple, down her breast and unto her stomach.
You trace your tongue along the trail of milk until your reach her breast. You shape your mouth into an O shape and attach yourself onto her.
Once you are done with both breast Jihyo gives it one last squeeze to confirm that there is nothing left.
“There…there is no more left. You were able to finish all of it, you even bit my nipple.”
“I’m sorry Jihyo, it’s just that I wanted to tease your nipple.”
Jihyo scoffs at your comment and smacks you on the lap.
After getting dressed you head back on the road towards your destination.
After driving for over half an hour you get to Gangchon rail park. It used to by an old and used railway but was repurposed as an attraction for visitors.
You buy a pair of tickets and are ready to get on the ride.
“Y/n, I’m really excited. I’ve been wanting to come here for a while but since we are so busy I’ve never got the chance.”
“Yes, I remember you talking about it with the members and wanted to take you.”
You both get on the two seater and begin to pedal. The view is amazing, snow on ground, trees and the surrounding areas.
Jihyo holds your hand as you both pedal through the tracks. “I’m glad you brought me here y/n, it’s nice that we have some alone time together.”
“I’ve also been wanting to spend some time with you, alone.”
Both of you continue to pedal together and have fun. After some time you reach a tunnel in where you both use the opportunity to share a nice an passionate kiss without are.
Once the ride is over you both head out for lunch. Jihyo uses her phone to find a nice park where you to could eat.
Placing the basket on the picnic table, Jihyo begins to take out the food that you prepared. She takes out some side dishes, different types of sandwiches and a couple of drinks to share.
You both enjoy your lunch, while Jihyo tries to take as many of photos of you and the scenery.
Trying to do the same thing you try to sneak some funny pictures of her as well as some good ones.
After finishing your lunch Jihyo asks to go for a walk around the park to let the food digest.
“You wanna work out right after eating Jihyo?”
“We need it so we can digest better, also I’m trying to get back into shape. Once the new years of over we might get a bit busy so I want to make sure that no one I got pregnant.” You nod in agreement and go on a walk with her.
You see ducks with their own children in the water, swimming. Other parents with children in their strollers, going on morning walks.
It has been a while since you have been so comfortable going outside, most with your loved one.
You look at jihyo and admire how beautiful she is and can’t believe that she is a realtionship with you, especially have a beautiful child like jisoo.
Both of you continue to walk together holding hands until you get to a nice location where Jihyo wants to take pictures together. She takes out her Polaroid camera and takes a couple of shots. You do the same as she poses for you. In the end she wants to take a selfie together as a keepsake.
It’s time to head to the next location and jihyo asks you if she can drive this time. You agree and give her the keys to your car and head out.
Out of all the members, jihyo is the best driver out of the bunch and casually likes to drive around whenever possible. This really shows as she is able to handle the curves of the highway with ease.
When you reach your destination she asks you where you two are going.
“We are going to get some really good beef for bbq” you say.
“Really? Are we really getting some meat? she asks with excitement.
“Yes, we are getting a combination of meats and side dishes. I rented a camping site for the evening and we are going to have a small cook out.”
“Omg y/n, I’m really excited. I always wanted to do this. Thank you.”
You both walk into the shop and walk towards the counter. Jihyo presses the bell and an old lady comes out from the back.
“Dining in or Take out?”
“Take out, I ordered in advance for a bbq set with side dishes” as you show her the confirmation email.
“Okay, let me get the items from the back” as she walks to get your food.
The woman comes back with a large box with multiple bags and says “in the bottom are you meats, on top your side dishes and some plates and utensils.”
“Thank you so much” says jihyo as she walks up to the counter.
“You’re welcome sweetie, enjoy.”
Jihyo and you drive to the camp site that you rented in advance. It takes less than an hour to arrive but we you do jihyo is amaze at the beautiful scenery.
“Wow, it’s so pretty here, I’ve never been here before.”
“Me neither but I looked online and found this place. It really had some good reviews. If you book in advance they even set up the camp for you.”
Jihyo take out the box of food and sets it out on the table while you turn on the grill. Once it’s on you help jihyo with seasoning the meat and getting it ready for the grill.
“Can I help you cook”
“Haha… you think you can do it without burning it?”
“Stop… that was only one time. Why do you have to remind me all the time about it” as she punches your shoulder.
“It was really funny. I cant believe you actually brunt it to a crisp, even mom wouldn’t eat it” as you laugh.
Jihyo cooks the meat but you lend her a hand, here and there. You get everything else ready.
Once the meat it ready jihyo brings it to the table and you both begin to eat. The table of filled with different types of meat like short steak, short ribs, brisket, flank steak and pork belly.
You can see how hungry jihyo is by the mouth of drool coming out of jihyo’s mouth. You can’t complain either because the smell of the cook meat is great.
“Okay let’s eat!” Shouts jihyo as she grabs a couple of piece of meat and places it on her plate.
“Ahh, don’t forget that meat goods really well with some beer” as she takes it out of the cooler.
“When did you have time to get some beer?”
“Ohh i got it from the store next door while you were waiting on the meat to come out.”
“Oh my god jihyo, don’t go back to your old drunk jihyo ways” you laugh.
“I know, I know, i can’t drink as much because if jisoo but i saved a couple of days worth of milk and she is alway eating soft foods, so it not that bad okay?
“Alright but don’t go too overboard okay? We still have to drive back home.”
“Okay, I promise. I’ll keep drunk jihyo in check” as she opens the first beer.
You do the same and enjoy the wonderful dinner that you and your amazing partner made.
Once you’re all done with the food the both of you relax on a large hammock as jihyo lays down on top of you. You hold her by the waist, having your hands inside of her hoodie, touching bare skin. Jihyo has her blanket covering you two from the cold mountain air.
You both look into the sky and admire how beautiful it is. “Remember when we first met and how you came up to me” she jihyo. “Yes, i was so nervous.” “Look at us now, together after how long?” “A long time haha” you laugh. “Stop joking around, im serious.” “I’m sorry” you say. “Crazy how we have a baby together” says Jihyo. “yes, our baby came out soooo cute just like her mother. She’s a literal copy of you, Jihyo.” “I know, i can’t believe it. Even my mom tells he that jisoo reminds her of me when i was little, it’s crazy.” “You think she is going to be as competitive as you.” “I think she might be even worse than me. Don’t you see how she tries to fight Ari for my boobs when it’s time to breastfeed her? She’s a feisty one.” “Yes she is.”
You turn your head to jihyo and says “but i’m glad we had her. I’m glad i met you and have you in my life.” Jihyo smiles and grabs your face and brings he lips towards you and goes for a passionate kiss.
The stars shines bright in the clear skies of this cold winter night.

Gangchon Rail Park, Chuncheon

I’ve been the type of person who always plans ahead of time where they’ll celebrate their birthday. After travelling to VISA free countries, I thought why not celebrate it in a OECD country.
OECD (the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) is an international organization which countries who are considered members of it, stimulate economic progress and world trade.
Ranked as the 11th largest economy in the world, South Korea has drawn the world’s attention for being a popular tourist destination, notably among us Filipinos. Hence comes the question if we need a VISA. YES, we do! Don’t fret though cause South Korea’s VISA is not only easy but also FREE.

TRAVELLING TO SEOUL FROM INCHEON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Almost all of the international flights land at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, including Cebu Pacific and there are several ways to get to downtown Seoul.
BY AIRPORT RAILROAD EXPRESS (AREX Express Train): The fastest way to get to downtown Seoul (Seoul Station) in exactly 43 minutes, without any station stops. A one-way ticket costs KRW 9000 for adults and KRW 7000 for children. Save even more on the adult fare if you purchase beforehand in Klook (KRW 6400). Be advised though that the train only runs from 5:23 AM until 10:48 PM.
BY AIRPORT RAILROAD EXPRESS (AREX All Stop Train): The second fastest way to get to downtown Seoul (Seoul Station) in approximately 58 minutes, with 13 subway station stops. A one-way ticket costs KRW 4150 with a T-Money Card. Take note that the train only runs from 5:25 AM until 11:39 PM.
BY BUSES: Take it only if you’re arriving during off hours as its way more expensive and takes longer than the subway. You can inquire at the Airport Information Desk on the 1st floor for the late-night airport buses to Seoul Station which costs KRW 9000.
BY TAXI: Most convenient yet the most expensive as it will roughly cost you KRW 60 000 – 80 000. The drop charge is KRW 3600 and the distance charge is KRW 120.
HOW TO GET AROUND
Seoul’s subway system is pretty efficient that you won’t need any other form of transportation. Most subway fare costs KRW 1250 for short distance trips. It can be a bit confusing but look around for these signs.
Take note where your nearest entrance is from and to where you are going.
Look out for these head signs as it tells you which way to go depending on the line number.
It tells you the line number’s transfer lines, last stop and which station is it headed next.
Watch out for the arrow sign which tells what’s the next subway station.
The only time we used a different mode of transportation was when we got on a bus on our way to N Seoul Tower, and when I rode a taxi back to the hostel as I was out after 11 PM when the buses and subways’ operating hours end.
Heads up though, Seoul requires heaps of walking so make sure to wear your comfiest shoes.
MONEY SAVING TIPS

WHAT TO DO IN KOREA
1.) Relive the Joseon Period in a Hanbok and get lost in a maze of traditional houses at Bukchon Hanok Village
Hanbok is the traditional Korean dress worn by both men and women during festivals and celebrations. There are plenty of hanbok rental shops near the Village or the Palace, but you can rent in advance through Klook for KRW 15 000 for 4 hours.
Bukchon Hanok Village will take you back in time as it is a maze of narrow alleyways and traditional Korean houses called hanoks. Regardless of being a tourist destination, please be respectful as it is still a neighborhood.

Subway Station: Anguk Station (Line 3), Exit 1 or 2
2.) Watch the Changing of the Guards at Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palace
Seoul has five Joseon royal palaces, but these two are the ones you shouldn’t miss. Gyeongbokgung the main palace where the changing of guards happen at 10 AM has an entrance fee of KRW 3000 and closed on Tuesdays, while Changdeokgung, a UNESCO Heritage Site and home to Huwon, or the “Secret Garden” has an entrance fee of KRW 5000 and closed on Mondays.
Our feet were tired enough to explore both. However, if you plan on visiting all the palaces, get a discounted entrance ticket with the Integrated Palace Ticket for KRW 10 000. For those wearing a hanbok, you are free to enter the palaces.

Subway Station: Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3), Exit 5 or Anguk Station (Line 3) Exit 1
3.) See North Korea on the DMZ and JSA Tour
Demilitarized Zone refers to the 4 km wide buffer zone dividing the North and South Korea. Within the DMZ is the Joint Security Area where the North and South Korean soldiers stand face to face, regarding it as “the most dangerous place in Korea.”

You can book through Klook the DMZ Tour (Imjingak Park, Freedom Bridge, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, the DMZ Exhibition Hall and Dora Observatory) for KRW 50 000, JSA Panmunjom Tour (Freedom House, Conference Room, Bridge of No Return and the Ax Murder Incident area) for KRW 86 100, or DMZ and JSA combined tour for KRW 130 000.
Please follow proper dress code: – Jeans are allowed as long as not faded, ripped, or torn in any way. – No shorts or skirts. – No shirts or tops without sleeves or exposing the midriff. – No sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes. – No athletic, military, or oversized clothing.
4.) Spend the day being a kid at heart in Everland Resort
Everland is South Korea’s biggest theme park, made up of five themed zones— Global Fair, Zootopia, European Adventure, Magic Land, and American Adventure.
The most popular attractions at Everland are T Express, one of the world’s fastest wooden rollercoasters, and Panda World, which is home to a pair of giant pandas gifted to South Korea by Chinese president Xi Jinping as a sign of friendship.

The park, which dresses up to match the season, is big enough to make you hungry and thirsty, but you can get food and drinks at a reasonable price ranging from KRW 4000 — KRW 20 000 at their restaurants and snack bars.
We were lucky enough to catch both parades at 3:30 PM and 8:30 PM, however, we opted to skip the fireworks display at 9:30 PM because of the subway’s operating hours.
A one-day pass to Everland costs KRW 54 000 for adults, but you can get them for KRW 35 000 if you purchase them in advance through Klook.
Check out this blog post for a handful of details about Everland.
How to Get There: Gangnam Station (Line 2) → Joengja Station (Sinbundang Line) → Giheung Station (Bundang Line) then transfer to Jeondae Everland Station (Yongin Everline Line) → Take the free shuttle bus to Everland
5.) Visit Nami Island, Gangchon Rail Park, Petite France and Garden of the Morning Calm
Having no idea how Koreans celebrate Chuseok, we went off to Gapyeong in the hopes for the autumn foliage on my birthday. Thinking it will be an easy trip as it has been a favorite day trip, we started at 11 AM and got confused on how to get there as you can either take the subway or ITX. The traffic was severe too due to the holiday that we ended up exploring Nami Island only. Nevertheless, we made the most out of our day, and I will surely come back the next time I’m in the country. For now, you can head off to Travel Intern’s blog for more details on how to DIY the trip.
If you’re going to all four attractions in Gapyeong, it’s best that you avail the Gapyeong City Tour Bus, an unlimited bus ride within a day for KRW 6000. You can purchase the ticket from the bus captain and show it at every pickup point.
NAMI ISLAND
Nami Island, a tiny half-moon shaped island, is a must-visit for anyone travelling to South Korea and you can explore it in less than a day. Aside from being storybook beautiful, it is officially known as the Naminara Republic, a micronation with passport and flag. Before you can board a ferry onto the island, you’ll need to purchase an “entry visa” which costs KRW 10 000 for Koreans, but just KRW 8000 for foreigners.

6.) Lock your love and get the best view of the city on top of N Seoul Tower
Not only does N Seoul Tower give you sweeping aerial views of Seoul, but it’s where you can “lock your love” for all eternity as well.
You can get to the tower by either riding the shuttle bus for KRW 1250 or take the cable car for KRW 9500 for adults and KRW 6500 for kids roundtrip while one-way costs KRW 7000 for adults and KRW 4000 for kids.
The entrance to the Observatory is an additional KRW 10,000 for adults and KRW 8,000 for kids, but you can get them for KRW 6,400 and KRW 5,400 respectively if you purchase them in advance through Klook. The Observatory gives you a 360° panoramic view of the entire city, best during sunset or at night.

How To Get There:
— by Cable Car: Myeongdong Station, Exit 4 → walk straight towards the Hoehyeon Intersection to the right of Pacific Hotel → turn left towards Namsan Park/Tunnel which is up to the hill → take the Namsan Oreumi (slanted elevator), located at the entrance of Namsan Tunnel #3, connected to Namsan Cable Car
— by Shuttle Bus: Chungmuro Station, Exit 2 → go straight to the bus stop and ride Namsan Sunhwan Shuttle Bus No. 02 or 05
7.) Rejuvenate and relax in a jjimjilbang
A jjimjilbang is a gender-segregated public bathhouse in Korea where locals come to unwind, hang out and engage in a whole host of health and beauty rituals that go far beyond a quick soak.
I saw loads of this in Korean drama scenes and wanted to try it myself. Fortunately, a foreign friend happens to plan on staying overnight at one. Among all the bathhouse in Seoul, we went for the Siloam Spa near Seoul Station. On our way there, we passed by Seoullo 7017 or “SkyGarden“, which marks the transformation of an overpass highway to a pedestrian oasis in the middle of Seoul where you can get tourist information, rest, and have a light meal or snacks.
I paid KRW 12 000 for nighttime use and given a locker key to store my shoes. After doing so, I handed my locker key to the front desk, in exchange for a towel, a pair of pyjamas and a different locker key with a number on it where I stored my stuff which you can wear on your wrist.
What you need to know if you’re going to the gender-segregated baths, you need to go naked, bringing only a small towel and toiletries. Fear not! Koreans consider this normal in jjimjilbang. Before bathing, wash first and if you’re going to the saunas, change into the pyjamas.
You can get a scrub for an extra KRW 15 000 – KRW 20 000. Lastly cap off a good sweat with a cold sweet sikhye, a traditional fermented rice drink, or steamed sauna eggs called maekbanseok gyeran.
How to Get There: Seoul Station, Exit 3 and cross the streets then take the stair up to the Seoullo 7017
8.) Shop and eat till you drop
Seoul is a shopaholic’s paradise. There is so much to buy here, from accessories, clothes, foods, cosmetics and even socks may it be in the shops, streets or the subway.

MYEONGDONG
Home to high-end brand stores and Korean cosmetics, the best time to come here is around dinner when the street stalls open so you can feast on street food while shopping.

Subway Station: Myeongdong (Line 4), Exit 7
HONGDAE
Hongdae, the abbreviation of Hongik Daehakgyo, gives you an energetic hippie vibe as it’s home to one of the top fine arts colleges in South Korea, Hongik University. Aside from the artsy nooks and trendy clothes and accessories hanged for sale, it comes alive at night with the street performances and nightclubs blasting their stereos on. We party hard here on my birthday going home at 5 in the morning.
Subway Station: Hongik University (Line 2), Exit 8 or 9
EWHA WOMAN’S UNIVERSITY FASHION STREET
The streets around the university is a shopping haven for women. Before hitting the shops, take a few minutes to check out Korea’s largest underground campus, Ewha Campus Complex.

This fashion street shopping unmistakably targets students at Ewha, so expect the shopping to be trendy and at the best bargain.
Subway Station: Ewha Woman’s University (Line 2), Exit
9.) Eat a live octopus in traditional market
If there’s one thing I wasn’t expecting on this trip, it’s eating a san-nakji or live octopus. Gomawo Sam!
Bought live before being chopped up and served raw on a plate, the tentacles continue to wriggle about for a long time despite being detached from the octopus’ body which contains ganglia. Drizzled with sesame seeds and served with a soy-wasabi dipping sauce, it was better than I had imagined. Just make sure to chew it well as there are reports of a few deaths by choking from the tentacles latching on to people’s throats.
We went to Namdaemun Market initially, but they close earlier due to Chuseok, Korean’s Thanksgiving Day. Luckily, we found a stall that still sells some octopus at Gwangjang Market. Expect to spend around KRW 10 000 per octopus with preparation.
10. Cafe hopping
Seoul has no lack of aesthetically-pleasing, eclectic and Instagram worthy cafés that you can spend a week just doing café hopping. We didn’t have much time to do it, but I’ll surely update the list the next time I’m in Seoul.
STYLENANDA PINK POOL CAFE This gorgeous pastel pool-themed café has got to be one of the Instagrammable places you should mark on your bucket list.

LINE FRIENDS CAFE AND STORE
I didn’t have the chance to go to LINE Friends Cafe and Store in Itaewon, which is a 3-storey high building with a concept cafe at the top level. However as I passed by Ewha’s Fashion Street, I surprisingly found one of their flagship stores.

SAMPLE ITINERARY & BUDGET
A week isn’t enough to experience everything in Seoul but here’s a sample itinerary of the must-dos.
Like what I said in How Do You Travel, travelling doesn’t need to be expensive. What you need is thoughtful planning and sorting out the fixed and variable costs through budgeting.
Reserving and paying in advance makes the budgeting smoother too, still, do it only after you get your VISA approval. We booked our accommodation and most of our activities in Seoul a week after we got ours. Leaving us with the transportation, meals and extras (souvenirs, party expense) to plan out.

© wanderingpeople.wordpress.com
TOTAL
PHP 10 000 to spend before the trip and PHP 10 000 to spend in Korea with the meals and transportation expense. Have in mind that this estimate doesn’t include souvenir or shopping. If I spend more on that day, then I’d cut back in fickle expenses– it’s as simple as that.
A Week in Seoul, South Korea for PHP 20 000 I've been the type of person who always plans ahead of time where they'll celebrate their birthday.

Exploring Nami Island and More of South Korea in a Day with Klook!
Finally, the day has arrived for me to use my Korean visa! I immediately applied for it months ago when I found out that I’ll be exempted with the financial document requirements using my credit card (Click HERE to find out how). And it’s not just for a single entry; I can go back to South Korea anytime I want in a span of three years! It means that I can still experience more of Korea despite of this quick weekend getaway.
My trip to South Korea was very spontaneous. My brother messaged me on Facebook telling me that he was able to score cheap roundtrip tickets to Seoul for the two of us and asking me if I can accompany him to this trip. I was overseas that time and was about to go back to Manila after a week-long travel to Myanmar and Thailand so another travel plan for the coming months was surely a great idea. I excitingly approved to his plan. But for only 3 days, how can we maximize our stay?
Probably one of the most iconic destinations Korea has is this wonderful half-moon shaped island located about two hours away from Seoul. Nami Island is a must visit for tourists especially for K-Pop fans as it served as a shooting location for some well-known K-dramas such as Winter Sonata. I am not a fan and haven’t watch a single K-drama but seeing the beautiful pictures online of this island made me include this destination on our itinerary.
Since we were constraint in time (and unfortunately, it was continuously raining that day), booking an organized trip beforehand was a great decision. We went with Klook which we have been using for the longest time already. I actually have tried booking with them on their early years when I purchased our Hong Kong Disneyland ticket way back 2015. It was the cheapest I could find online and the process in redeeming the ticket onsite was hassle-free. Since then, Klook has been my “buddy” for most of my travels. ;)
Booking with Klook is just very easy. Just go to their site at www.klook.com, select the destination then choose your desired activities and items. Select the date and package quantity then you can go ahead with the payment. You can also download their mobile app for more convenience. Make sure to create an account so you can have access to amazing discounts they offer from time to time. As a welcoming gift, create your account HERE and get HK$25 off as soon as you sign up.
The tour that we booked was for a full day visit to four of South Korea’s most popular attractions outside the capital. We found it the most worthy as we could be able to visit a lot in just a matter of day. The included destinations are interesting as well and picturesque enough to make your Instagram feed flooded with loves.
Good thing our hostel was just around Myeongdong as the pickup point was on one of its subway exits. We easily found our driver and we were immediately escorted to the car that we’ll be using for the whole day. I was quite surprised as it turned out to be a semi-private tour with only four of us in the group, two being me and my brother and the other half If I’m not mistaken were a couple from Malaysia. It was indeed a comfortable ride with more than enough legroom you could expect from a car and it also came with a complimentary bottle of water.
Garden of Morning Calm
Those who love nature will surely be amazed with our first destination for the day. The Garden of Morning Calm is a 30,000 square meter garden located at Gapyeong district, just east of Seoul. Considered to be one of the most beautiful gardens in the country and has also been a K-drama site, the Garden of Morning Calm houses an array of flowers and plants beautifully landscaped to spread the concept of Korean beauty to the world.
The Garden of Morning Calm has various themed gardens connected through scenic walkways. Beautifully maintained plant arrangements and flower beds can be seen all throughout the place. The garden has about 5,000 kinds of plants of which some are native to the Korean Peninsula.
For the picture-perfect shot bursting with colors, one must visit on their springtime when the flowers are in full bloom. The garden is busy though during that period so have patience to get that desired shot. Don’t worry if you can’t come on springtime as the Garden of Morning Calm is still beautiful and open for public whatever the season is. Various festivals and displays are also held throughout the year.
Nami Island
We went to our second destination right after lunch (which by the way was already included on the package). I could say that Nami Island was definitely the highlight of the trip.
This beautiful small island in the middle of Han River is a famous destination for tourists as it offers that K-drama feels we just normally see on screen. With trees tall enough to occupy the lens of your camera and its orange leaves during autumn, it would surely be a magical shot screaming K-drama in every angle.
Unfortunately, we were there on springtime thus not seeing this picturesque scene. But nothing to depress about, as Nami Island is still as beautiful as it is whatever the season is. Trees were in full bloom that time with overly saturated greens everywhere. Colorful flowers can also be seen throughout the island. Delightfully, animals such as rabbits and squirrels were freely roaming around.
Petite France
After a decent amount of hours of stay in Nami Island, off we went to our next destination which was Petite France. It is a French-style theme park with a small replica of Eiffel Tower. You’re hitting two birds in one stone by being here as you can be both in Korea and France. ;)
As projected, this theme park consists of French-style buildings painted with different colors connected through stairways and alleyways. This place seems to be dedicated as well to puppetry and the famous French novel “Le Petit Prince” internationally known as “The Little Prince”. Various images depicting these were scattered around the village-themed park.
Don’t worry if you get hungry as there are restaurants nearby. For cheaper options, a coffee shop and a convenience store are located just across the street.
Gangchon Rail Park
We were already bound for our last destination for the day but our excitement was still soaring as we were about to make it a lil’ bit extreme. Our next destination was more than picture-taking; we need to muscle up and ready our tired feet (not complaining) as we will be biking along the countryside.
Gangchon Rail Park is also now considered a must visit if you’re here in South Korea. One needs to cycle along the old train track using a two or four-seat bike passing through tunnels and rocky roads while seeing the amazing scenery of the countryside.
Honestly, this activity exceeded my expectation. It might sound tiring but it’s actually fun. The cold breeze as you bike and the astounding view of the surroundings will ease the weary away. I’m glad that we took the package that includes Gangchon Rail Park.
It was dark already when we’re done with the tour. We were able to get back to Seoul around 9PM. It was indeed a fun day full of exciting activities. The places we went to were all remarkable making me want to visit them all again on my next visit. I was so pleased as well with our tour and will still book through Klook on my next travels. For sure, I’ll be here longer the next time and will check out other exciting activities South Korea and Klook have to offer.

#英文瀚 #TravisYing #Handlettering #Art #calligraphy #typography #life #action #metropolis #Seoul #korea #community #typoart #typeoftheday #ligaturecollective #thedailytype #typotopia #typematters #handlettering #50words #hk #hkig #hkiger #tbt (at Gangchon Rail Park - 강촌레일파크)
