Yesterday I received the ink for the printer and I was finally able to print modules 1 and 2 for the online Japanese course I am taking. So I will finally be able to study away from the computer.
On the other hand, I continue uploading the game texts so I can start with the animations. I still have a lot left, I don't think I'll finish it in a week or two.

As a matter of principle I'm refusing to play any new Metal Slug game until they make the girls weird-looking again.

200 Word RPGs 2024
Each November, some people try to write a novel. Others would prefer to do as little writing as possible. For those who wish to challenge their ability to not write, we offer this alternative: producing a complete, playable roleplaying game in two hundred words or fewer.
This is the submission thread for the 2024 event, running from November 1st, 2024 through November 30th, 2024. Submission guidelines can be found in this blog's pinned post, here.

[Athena & Apollo]
This is an absolutely shit doodle but all I can think abt is how funny it was that Apollo just went "Idk he killed some sirens and I like songs so that kinda sucks" and Athena was like "they were gonna kill him" and Apollo like "Damn ur right"

Unpopular opinion: All games should have the option to enable pausing.
And to save almost everywhere.
Yes even in soulslike games.
I am an adult who has a full time job and responsibilities. I get to play maybe an hour a week. I do not want to lose that hour of progress because devs decided 'pause' was not allowed in their game and I had sudden unexpected things come up that meant I had to quit the game without saving/leave it playing and hope enemies wouldn't respawn.
Also it would massively increase accessability. I have fully working non-injured hands and they still need a break after a tough boss fight. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for people with joint pain, arthritis, etc, etc.

i never thought i could love a game this much and then I saw RTgame play Slay the Princess one day. So when our prof told us to make a poster for our assignment guess what I immediately jumped to do.
@blacktabbygames i love your game so much I am so incredibly normal about it and I await in both anticipation and fear for the Pristine Cut

Kim Kitsuragi is a fascinating character because there's not that much fun or interesting or compelling about him. And yet somehow over the course of playing Disco Elysium the game rewires your fucking brain around him. He's the middest man you've ever seen in both appearance and personality but at some point he says something kind to you or something critical of you and you feel like you just got hit by a truck and you need his approval like you need oxygen and like how tf did this happen. what are you

My controversial game design opinion is that "environmental storytelling" should be actually, tangibly present within the game's environments. Hitting the player with a paragraph of lore every time they click on a random item in their inventory is not environmental storytelling – it's just hiding an epistolary novel in your game's UI.
