I couldn't think of any AU's to draw off the top of my head so. i just made my own LMAO

In this AU, Caine is a human who works as a bartender, and also often hosts the bar's open mic nights. While clearing out his Dad's stuff after his untimely death, Caine finds an old computer with an unfinished version of an MMO his dad was working on. It never went public, but somehow, there are 6 players online. Those players are the circus members, who are stuck within the game.

Some detailed details I love about kcd, a very detailed game.

They made real plants and trees. The place feels familiar because I see these kinds of landscapes and woods irl. One of the puzzles has me looking for a weeping willow specifically. (This incidentally took me back to my childhood because there was one weeping willow in the park i would play in, we could use it as a base bc the drooping leaves concealed us, and it was good to climb bc of the way the trunk sprawled at a shallow angle.)

The bird song, I recognise some of the bird calls and I feel like I'm walking through my own local forest. 💚

Speaking of media I could write entire essays about...

Sometimes you'll be playing a game and you'll come across a revelation that completely changes the way you look at the world and the story it's trying to tell.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass has FOUR of those. (Granted some more impactful than others but still.) It's beautiful and brilliant and funny and terrifying and tragic and haunting and BOLD in its storytelling choices.

It's a JRPG with such an elegant central gameplay mechanic that feeds into its themes in such a poignant way.

It's the kind of experience that makes you question if anything actually matters only to realize that actually EVERYTHING matters.

But most importantly... IT HAS A BUTTON THAT LETS YOU SKIP COMBAT IF YOU'RE AT LEVEL FOR AN AREA.

Play it. Play it. Play it. Play it. I got it for pennies as part of a massive itch.io bundle with thousands of games. It was bar none my favorite.

It won't be for everyone but it deserves to go down in history as a classic.

My in-depth-ish thoughts about Paper Mario TTYD

There will be mega spoilers so don't read if you haven't finished or are interested in getting into it. Also mega yapping, I am the yapper

I thought it was overall pretty fun! I enjoyed it. I'll talk about the battle mechanics first then the story.

My first experience with the Mario RPG games was with Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, so I was a little surprised that the command inputs are a little less involved? I was also surprised by the lack of moves, especially for the partners. I think M&L's moveset is a little more fun honestly, but the ones here are also pretty interesting! It's surprising to see that Vivian's is a little more complicated compared to the others too (using more buttons than tilt the joystick or the a & b buttons). I also really like the Superguard and Guarding system, kind of brutal but it's a nicer idea than just being able to jump over attacks like in M&L.

It was also surprising that you don't really raise your attack through experience, but by getting BP's and using badges that increase Attacks (WHICH COST 6BP EACH!!!!). It's a nice idea! It makes it more strategy and and a little more skill based I think, though I couldn't help shake off the feeling that I wasn't doing enough to increase my attack power. But overall the battle system is nice.

Story wise, it's pretty fun and cute. I will say that it's biggest drawback is the amount of backtracking, good GOD there's so much. It's so bad that I can't even pick a favorite chapter. I can for sure pick segments but I can't pick a favorite chapter honestly. I think they're all pretty equal.

Uhmmm Chapter 1 is cute, Chapter 2 is cute as well but good fucking god I HATTEEDDD going around the tree, it was awful. Chapter 3.... I was surprised to hear it was really well liked, and I can understand why, but I felt like the climb went on a little too long. I was also surprised to see how small the island is... I thought it'd be bigger or at least bustling with a lot of NPCs.

Chapter 4 is one I really looked forward to because I love Boo's and I've heard about Doopliss so I was excited to see him, and good god I think the town part of the Chapter brings it down a lot in terms of memorability. LIKE.... WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO THE FIGHT WITH SHADOW PEACH AND WHEN IT WAS SHOWING THE CRYSTAL STARS GOING THROUGH EVERY CHAPTER LOCATION..... AND THEY ONLY SHOWED THE MOM AND MAYOR TALKING BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THAT CHAPTER.... LMFAOFJDSIFGHUIREHGUJN

LIKE AT LEAST THE OTHER CHAPTERS HAD MEMORABLE CHARACTERS.... THIS ONE THEY DGAF. Big Boo fight is super cute though, love love love it, I don't know if the other chapters had secret bosses like it? Also the Boo's in this game are totes cute, I love how Boo's were drawn in the early-mid 2000s god

ANYWAYS, Chapter 5 is... fun. I'm not a big fan of pirate themes but I WILL SAY, I LOVE CORTEZ he's so fun and love his design. I really like that his earrings tie down his jaw and head together since it's papercraft. I also really like Bobbery, the thing with his wife was really sweet.

Chapter 6 is... a chapter 8E83RHWFIUEFGERGER. OK WELL NO I usually like train mystery stuff. I enjoyed Sonic Murder Mystery a lot, but the early part of the train stuff was kind of a slog to get through... Unfortunately I think I've seen the Poshley Heights part before from a long time ago, but it was mainly getting to the Crystal Star rather than Doopliss and the 2 sh*dows. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR BEING MEAN TO DOOPLISS AND VIVIAN!!!!! MARK YOUR WORDS BELDAMMMMM

I enjoyed Chapter 7 a lot actually, maybe I can call it my favorite chapter. I think the music for the X-Nauts Fortress slams nuts a lot and definitely heightened my experience for it. I also like TEC a whole lot, I don't think I've mentioned that yet but I'll talk about the Bowser and Peach segments later.

Chapter 8 visually is definitely a highlight. I absolutely love how it looks. I can't say much about the actual areas itself though. The tower was pretty nice I guess, the puzzles are easy, though. I will punch Beldam for being mean to Doopliss. And the fight with Shadow Peach was hard! At least for me. I came in without upgrading my whole party and trying to get through it with Yoshi and Bobbery and boy did I get sweeped. I went back and upgraded Goombella and we traded Power Lifts and beat her up and saved the world the end. I did like that it was the toughest boss you've met yet and not only that, I think the only one with over 100 HP? (I don't know about Gloomtail and Hooktail since I didn't have Peekaboo enabled on)

For the Bowser and Peach segments, the Peach ones are really sweet and TEC is super sweet. I am upset that Mario didn't tell Peach his last wish on screen IT MADE ME SO MADDDDD.

Bowser's is really funny, I love love love him and Kammy they're such a funny duo. Also I can't lie, the 2D segments with Bowser really felt like Flash ripoffs from the web to a T LMFAOOOO. I will say I was a little surprised how uninvolved he actually is with the story. A little disappointing but honestly, I wouldn't change the story at all.

Oh also everything visually was so fucking beautiful, and the soundtrack slams cheeks

Sorry for the long yap but TTYD was really fun, definitely worth the time I poured into it (Nearly put 30 hours into it and still adding more since I haven't done the pit yet at all). I'll play the original Paper Mario next since I am interested in Lady Bow and the baking scene that I watched oomf do and fucked up 5 million times to poison the toad.

Probably the last time I'll talk about TTYD though since I don't have any other thoughts, unless the pit changes my life somehow.

hiiiii sobbing and crying qnd wailing everyolwuerw ive made this post on like three different platforms but i just finished garden story and i actually cant handle how fucking GOOD that game is, its actually my new favorite of all time. anyone that likes indie pixel/rpg/cozy indie games (UTDR FANS IM LOOKING AT YOU) NEEDS to play it. adorable graphics, stellar soundtrack, and heartwarming story. you will not regret it.

How much money would I have to throw at you to make Aaron an option for the hero?

I'm guessing you meant Aron? If so, I have some fantastic news about how quick and easy it is to make pokémon already in the game into heroes/partners without even needing a patch file or prior experience :D

(threw a patch together for you as well though since i needed screenshots, download is at the bottom lol)

Quick hero/partner modification tutorial time!

(since I know there were people wanting vulpix heroes in expanded sky too)

Step 1: install and open skytemple, it can be found here.

Step 2: Press Open>More Files and then select the rom of your choice. Make sure it's the file with the .nds extension and it's explorers of sky (time, darkness and rescue team won't work, but modded versions of explorers of sky should still work fine*, like expanded sky :]) You should see something like this.

*disclaimer: when making edits to existing romhacks rather than the base game, its probably sensible to keep for personal use only lol

Step 3: Click the arrow next to 'Lists' from the dropdown on the left-hand side to expand it, the double-click 'Starters'. This will open a list of all the heroes and partners, as seen in the next step.

Step 4. Double-click over the species name of the hero (or partner) you'd like to change. Delete the existing text (shinx in this case) and replace it with the pokémon you want!

Step 5: You're done! Save your rom (preferably with a different name - you'll want a backup of the original just in case), and your new file is ready. Put it wherever you save your roms to play and enjoy!

That's it! Adding in extra portraits that aren't in the base game is a different (but still fairly easy) process that I won't go into in this post for the sake of keeping it basic, but this should work for any pokémon that's already in the game :D go wild!

Since I went though the trouble of clicking through on all that anyway to grab links, I made it a patch for you if you'd rather not set it all up yourself or are fine w shinx being the one to be replaced though! Download for that is here :D Any other heroes or partners can be modified in the same way as well!

I'm not really active in any, the closest one would be destiny but I stopped posting for that a while back. Fandoms can be pretty intimidating to me and zelda is where I feel comfortable tbh

I really like indie games generally but the genres vary a lot, Celeste and stardew are huge comfort games for me but I have a lot of others too. I'll drop some names in the tags as recommendations - they're all pretty affordable and are value tbh (celese and stardew especially with how many mods there are)

I don't actually remember a time where I didn't love the games?? My dad was into them way before I was born and I guess it got passed on dfvdsvfc I think the first one I played myself was Twilight Princess? either that or oot and that would have been about 13/14 years ago now?

not really, I used to but now I tend to watch youtube instead - komi can't communicate is the only one I really watch anymore cause she kinda reminds me of myself at times (I do have some comfort animes that I won't share though)
