Got back from work and now I’ve got puppy ideas!

Vil got his Doberman or poodle as a puppy, but definitely a breeder for his first one. While he is pro rescue, he also wanted his pooch to have the best health. He does end up rescuing many more and is a big advocate for “responsible breeding” (I will happily info dump on how to find a responsible and what to look for!) but he went to several breeders, before finding one he liked, and then waited several years for the breeder to match him with his perfect puppy. A girl he names Ada (Germanic name meaning noble), and she has him wrapped arouir nd her little paw. Since he did his research he has everything he may need, kennel, pee pads, beds and toys galore! Turns out Ada doesn’t like dog beds and prefers his lap. He tries to not allow her cause she will get big, but how can he say no!?! (Yes, this ends with her a full grown pooch sitting in his lap, but sacrifices must be made) he is strict where it counts, no jumping or biting, proper nutrition, and exercise.

His baby girl is the healthiest and surprisingly well behaved baby, unless her schedule gets messed with. For the first few months, he brings her with him everywhere, helping desensitize her, but the first time he has to leave for a shoot, she freaks. Rook calls with pictures of a destroyed living room and kitchen. Vil obviously doesn’t blame her, she is still a puppy, and doesn’t know how to control her emotions yet. He video calls and stays on the line while he and she both sleep for the rest of the nights he’s away. He feels so bad though! Rook is trying to keep to schedule, but Ada doesn’t know life without her dad! She’s confused, and upset. Thankfully it’s a short shoot, and when Vil comes back he is bombarded with puppy kisses and whines.

Ada does get better, but Vil ends up bringing her with him for most shoots now, as he also has a schedule he likes to keep, and she is apart of said schedule. Neige is a bit nervous around Ada as she’s very big, and has a resting bitch face for a dog, but Neige’s dog and Ada are besties, much to both of their chagrin. Neige def has a tiny floof of a dog, so he gets nervous when Ada is playing with them, and Neige’s dog is also a naughty one so Vil gets disgusted when they come bounding up dragging garbage while Neige chases them. Thankfully Neige’s dog hasn’t been hurt, and Ada hasn’t picked up bad habits, yet.

Also, Vil periodically posts pics of Ada, and even does some “doggy days” like one hot summer day he made pupsicles with her out of watermelon, and cocoanut milk, or making doggy cookies for winter. And yes, she does have a kissing booth for valentines, day, but she doesn’t give kisses, you give kisses!

Book Review - Bloody Spade

Another book I have read recently and wanted to hype up here with a review! Here we go~ Here is my review for Bloody Spade by Brittany M. Willows. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐star rating This book is absolutely stunning. Get ready for drama, angst, magic galore, transformation sequences, anime style, LGBTQA+ rep, PINING, and the process of healing from the past while staring straight ahead at the dangers the future poses. The characters all breathe life to every page, even the side characters who don't get as much screentime have very defined traits and personalities. Sometimes as a character entered a scene I would just go, "Oh, yep, that's Ikkei." The story and trials these characters (whom you will fall in love with) face drag you into the world and those ink-stained claws won't release. I've got to deal with them until I can sink my teeth into book two! Iori and Ellen are lovely protagonists, and as obvious as their will they/won't they scenario is, the author paints the scenes of pining and indecision so beautifully it lures me into their heads and I can't be frustrated with them one bit. ALL these kids are traumatized. From the main duo to Ellen's brother Alexander, and even the leaders of Cardplay where they all study their magical abilities, every character has a rich, immersive backstory told in flowing prose. Nothing ever seems out of place. The author plays with the deck they built like a pro. The world feels so real and believable it's like I could see it happening if such an event as the reemergence happened in our society. I won't spoil how the empowered are treated, but if you've been a fan of X-Men you likely can guess. I love all the threads the author pulls together with the villainous plots and big reveal near the end. While some plot points are foreseeable, I never once felt that a bad thing, I was just waiting for the shoe to drop with anticipation, and boy does this book keep you turning the next page. I'd recommend Bloody Spade to anyone, and I already have to all my friends. PLUS, THAT GORGEOUS COVER! Give this book a shot, you won't regret it if you like any of what I mentioned here. anyways, im here to introduce you to my very own fnaf au: The Fazbear Poker Pizza Galore!

in this au, all the characters are anthropomorphic instead of robotic (or in that case, theyre more "plush toy like" physical appearance wise). and all live their everyday lives as citizens (and even have their own religious beliefs) and the fnaf 1 characters (or the Fazbear siblings as they call themselves) live inside one of the mini pizzaplexes, called The Fazbear Poker Pizza Galore Pizzaplex. none of the characters are possessed by the spirits of children, rather, they just spend time with them, along with the childrens' souls depicted as little stuffed animal dolls. other than that, lore in this au exists, but is altered a bit (basically less mumbo jumbo compared to the canon fnaf lore).

oh! and um... human characters will be drawn as anthropomorphic animals because my ability to draw humans is rather… mediocre at best. each "animatronic" has their own playing cards symbol (those being ♠ ♣ ♥ and ♦) pattern on their performance/casual outfits (some are fashion trends from eras and whatnot). i apologize if this seems rather all over the place and confusing 😓😓😓

Niou Masaharu & Duke Watanabe vs. Dankmar Schneider & Bertie B. Volk, A Summary (New Prince of Tennis Chapters 286-295)

Wrote this for @rikkaidaily. Sorry it’s so late! I wasn’t sure where to start, how detailed I should be or how much you already know. :P Mostly focused on Niou and kinda glossed over the opponents special techniques (especially Schneider’s turn-into-a-literal-giant move lol, whoops). I hope you don’t mind. :) Spoilers galore so don’t read below the Read More if you’re not interested!

Niou and Duke play doubles against the German pro doubles team Schneider and Bertie. They win the first set with Niou turning into Byoudouin and dominating their opponents using Byoudouin’s powerful Pirates technique. As they were playing, Yagyuu shares that while Niou was recovering after the G10 matches, he told Yagyuu that the next match he plays might probably be the last time he plays as a trickster.

In the second set, the German doubles team steps up their game and counters all of Byoudouin and Duke’s techniques. It turns out that Bertie has actually researched all of the Japanese representative techniques and figured out ways to win against all of them. The Germans win this set.

Since it has become obvious that playing as Byoudouin wouldn’t help them anymore, and with the other Japanese representatives out of the question, Niou plays as Greek representative Zeus (The guy who Shiraishi was so intimidated by that he couldn’t even move) instead. However, the German team is quick to adjust to Zeus so Niou switches then to Australia’s strategist, Noah. When the German team manages to adjust to him too, Niou says he’s out of people to turn into. However, Duke calls him out on it and tells Niou that he knows the latter went to see Camus, who is a pro and captain of the French representatives. This info was interesting since in the earlier chapters, we did see Duke and Camus meeting up after France lost to Japan, but I never suspected that Duke was actually Niou in disguise. 

As Niou was playing as Camus, we get to see more of Niou and Yagyuu’s conversation about Niou wanting to quit doing illusions. It turns out that the more Niou perfects his illusion of other people, the more he ends up seeing their whole lives, from their frustrations, thoughts and the hard work they put in. It was getting rather dispiriting doing them. (Flashback ends with Yagyuu seeing Niou looking glum so Yagyuu invites him to run laps together.)

Niou turning into Camus seems to be a good call as Camus is a very formidable player. Niou as Camus and Duke are now on par with the German doubles pros, and they even managed to do a Howling. They reach tiebreak and their opponents bring out their own Howling too. At match point in Japan’s favor, Bertie has just figured out a way to beat Duke and Niou as Camus when he looks at Niou, who has chosen to look like one of the Aramenoma players.

Before reading the rest of the page, I was like, lolwat. Because although the Aramenoma guys did manage to literally drive Momo crazy with their weird cultish chants, Ryoma and Kin-chan easily trashed all of them in tennis when they secretly went to their camp, causing the Aramenoma representatives to forfeit their matches against Japan the next day.

But then there was the Rikkai Big Three’s internal commentary:

Sanada: There was only one person he didn’t want to play as… Yukimura: The sole person who has never shown his own personal playing style…. Yanagi: The player we don’t have a single original data on…

At which point Niou takes off his mask. :)

And so Niou plays as himself this time, and does a Meteor Drive. 😂😂😂 You know. That move Inui had only dreamed up after getting knocked out during Nationals. 😂😂😂😂

Unfortunately, as amazing as this move is, Bertie manages to return it right back to an unprepared Niou, but then Duke is there to hit it back. Their opponent does a drop shot in response, which is bad for Niou and Duke since they are on the far side of the court. So Niou grabs Duke’s attention by yelling out “Senpai!” and pointing to himself. Duke then uses his Homerun move on Niou and swats him towards the net. 😂  

Niou makes it just in time to return the ball to the other side of the net and Japan wins!

Show don’t tell: “Tell” gone awfully bad

We all know that writing rule. And I know, especially in fantasy, it is tempting to throw all the details of this world you made up at the reader - after all, you’ve spent so much time and effort creating it. And the reader should also know everything about these characters you lovingly crafted - they need to know their tragic pasts and relations and loves gone bad, right from the beginning. Right? Uhm...

Well, building a world and creating characters is one thing. Integrating these things smoothly and organically into a story is a whole different matter.

If you do it elegantly, you shove your characters into situations where plot and worldbuilding enhance one another. Your protagonists gets to know the world and other characters, but these scenes actively add to the story and further the plot. They don’t slow down the pacing. If you’re a pro, you add formidable characterizations, too. @trovia is damn good at this, she manages to do all that in short stories, and that’s high art because it’s so difficult to do when you have a word limit.

However, right now I’m reading a book where none of this happens. It’s urban fantasy meets crime, so suspense and pacing are crucial, but alas ... I really wanted to like this, but as it is, I’m mostly reading it as an example of what not to do in a novel:

- not having your first person narrator interact with any other significant characters for the first 20% of the book. Introspection and reflection are important, but so is a cast of characters. Even if it’s just a few of them. If you don’t have that (or if you only have meaningless characters show up), your world feels very empty. Which can be a desired effect, of course, but even then ... Characters interacting with each other reveals way more about them then endless inner monologues. They’re more fun to read, too.

- interrupting whatever action is currently going on to have the narrator explain the world. Info dumps galore. See, I don’t generally mind info dumps. Sure, there are more elegant ways to explain stuff, but if there are just a few of them and they help me understand the foundation of the world, I’m fine. But itoo many of them (at the wrong time) can terribly mess up the pacing. I’ve reached the point where I’m wailing when the narrator interrupts the action for yet another explanation. This stuff gets especially frustrating if the information turn out to be not important at all.

- having the first person narrator explain other characters instead of letting them interact or speak for themselves. Not only does it add to the bunch of info dumps, but it also ... makes me not care about these characters. I need to see them act, get to know them a little, not hear their backstory from the narrator before I got to know them at least enough to have a reason to care. Readers not caring about your characters is pretty much the worst case scenario.

- not give the protagonist anything to love. I know, that’s a tough one, I’ve been struggling with this with my current WIP as well. If a character’s been through a lot and has lost everything, they may just don’t care. The thing is, if they don’t really care about anything, why should the reader? External pressure can be a decent motivation to set things in motion, but if the characters don’t learn to care about the stakes, then the whole journey is emotionally unfulfilling and basically meaningless.

See, show don’t tell is great writing advice because showing gets your readers interested. It makes them care. And we all want readers to care about our stories, right?

So, don’t tell your readers what you’ve got - show them.

declan’s main goal in life is to enjoy everything that money can offer before it’s gone.

he enjoys travelling to europe and forgetting his name for a week or two as he tries the finest alcohols and beds the hottest women (and men).

he’s a little sweet and a little salty. that’s the alluring thing about him. the mystery behind his smile. 

he knows how to put on a fake smile, conversing with the elites to maintain his place in the high ranks while seducing their children.

is he addicted to sex? possibly. 

he’d much rather be wrecking havoc with his friends and testing the limits of power that his family possesses.

his careless nature is the reason declan has spent a night or two in the drunk tank after a bender. he’s not ashamed, though. he doesn’t plan on stopping his bad boy ways as he gets older. the more fun, the better.

he has a knack for writing, the only thing apart from drugs and alcohol that gets him to zen out. he’d much rather be studying journalism that than business but someone has to follow in the family footsteps.

he’d rather not be tied down to anyone right now. he prefers to be 100% unattached from anyone that lands in his bed. a lot of people try to hate him for this but somehow, they keep coming back for more.

he works out hard to keep his body in shape. it’s his pride and joy apart from his smile. you can’t call yourself a lothario/heartbreaker if you can’t play the part.

he plays soccer to help with that. he’s been playing since he was younger so he’s kind of a pro at this point. 

he loves his friends fiercely!! he will legit do anything for them. that’s just plain and simple. one hand washes the other.

🏉League Of Leagues Week 9 Recaps 🏈

🗣Time for another rant by yours truly🗣

In fantasy, scoring has been down across the board. But why?

Limited OTAs, lowered practice times, less preseason games, more loop holes to avoid practicing, options to opt out summer walk through and such, ability for clubs or coaches to play players less or hold players to fewer snaps in scrimmages and early summer games....all of these factors are playing into an "uneven" fantasy season.

To my recollection, I have never experienced a season this chaotic with players being able to not participate in games due to not wanting to - but teams designating players OUT under false reasons

Players now can show displeasure with coaching staff decisions or franchise decisions by eliminating thier team presence on social media to illicit reactions and cause turmoil (rather intentional or inadvertently) for thier respective clubs.

With the change in NFL designations, teams have had little windows to withhold or omit certain issues with players leaving the fantasy community scrambling due to last minute (pertinent) info not being disclosed.

Team Beat Writers are not what they used to be. In order to gain favor, they politic with players or clubs in general so they can schmooze as opposed to digging for the issues or details or players availability, status within teams, favor in or out with coaches, organization schism, and the like. Its this lack of true reporting of hard facts that leaves fantasy players screwed with inability to make rational decisions without concrete facts.

Beat writers also put out false info to be tm"the first" in the new digital age (damn I sound old) that causes either indecision or incorrect "hindsight" choices

Players are not 100% due to the nature of the game, but injuries galore have piled on. It has watered down the product seen on the field with sloppy play. Possibly in part to lack of cohesiveness with offensive lineman, qb to wr duos, defensive schemes, etc.

In a copy cat league defenses are able to study film and devise measures (plans) to scheme against if they have the personnel to execute. This is even with the league skewing the favor towards offense.

Even with defenses catching up, player on offense are able to make immediate impacts with teams as rookies because pro coaches are adapting systems that colleges implement for easier transition and quicker results.

Coaches are on hot seats even during thier first half of a season. These causes dilembecause of immediate demand of return from ownership for wins and coaching philosophies and for coaching/developing...which goes back to the issue I stated before about lack of practice.

We are in an age of advance medicine and new age technologies or inventive techniques to preserve the body of players. With all that said, we have never seen this many injuries in a season to stsrting players since fantasy has become a thing.

Yes, more access like shows of hardknocks, social media leaks, and cameras at every juncture has highlighted more than we may have been able to see in years past. With that factor in play its still unfathomable how much player injuries and drama we are able to capture or learn about.

NFL at the end of the day is a business. Teams look to instant success. More than ever, teams are willing to trade picks and players for frequently. Its exciting but also another factor of the cohesion teams need to overcome during a course of a season. Nothing new....just more frequent.

Betters on games who partake in lines (bet if a player earns x yardage above or below that number) have seen stat lines down which has effected the new aspect of the NFL....gambling. This is crucial of betters to know all important information prior to placing bets.

Instant replays are pivotal but also slow the game down for viewers. Why not have the NY office have cameras and teams in the booth and at headquarters seeing every angle as to speed up the processes and supercede incorrect/blatant bad calls by referees.

Refs themselves are under more scrutiny based on some gray area interpretation of rulings. This is where the NFL offices can step in more.

For pete sakes, please put a sensor in the balls so we can determine first down markers or at very least, end zone "over the plane" calls. It can be done.

More international games are growing the sport. The flights ✈️ cross country and oversees does not seem to effect players like it once did in the past with next week performances. A study on that should be interesting.

Thursday scheduling aside, teams have some say in scheduling with late afternoon options, next week home/away choices after prime time games, etc. When the NFL eventually goes to 18 games...should there be 2 bye weeks?

More and more RB premiums are going by the wayside because of RB tandems or committees. Unless you have top tier talent who can carry the bulk of the load, we have to as fantasy players decide how they come into play ADP (average draft positions) in drafts. Do we slide them down or are they so short in talent pool they are trusted into the 1st rounds. Perhaps all RBs 2nd round onto 5th round are interchangeable?

Very poor play of QBs. Out with the old (Rodgers, Brady, Ryan, Wilson, Stafford) in with the new (Burrows, Allen, Mahomes, Fields, Hurts, Kyler, Lamar, etc)

This seasons fantasy gods sought to deplete the tier of QB talent and performance. Are QBs trusted into first round status of drafts next year?

TEs, only Kelce and Andrews are top tier. All others are stream options. Waller and Pitts have really hurt teams this year. There's multiple factors at play as to why. Only a handful of other TEs are sit em and accept the low bar for consistency (Goedert, Njoku, Hockenson, Ertz). The rest you can play matchup to matchup or high upside trends.

Because there is no depth to TEs should there be a change to how they score in fantasy? A premium on TE scoring like some leagues do?

Many leagues have foregone the Kicker and defense positions in favor of more flex spots.

Kickers are even getting hurt at accelerated rates.

IDP leagues are becoming more of a thing. Normally the 3 layers a defense (lineman, DBs, and the sought after lineback middle of the defense)

2 QB leagues are trending. Whether its 2 QBs or a super flex. This changes draft strategies.

Normally in the past, straight up matches with WR (Chad Johnson) with man to man or zone coverage (Revis Island) would be clear cut. Not so much this year. Its a crap shoot on determining if matchups play that much of a factor or not week to week.

Fantasy has been a fluke.

NFL has seen teams in favor of grinding out (or by no choice due to poor play and injuries) winning close games. How many games have been one possession games at the end of the 4th quarter? Makes for excitement...but a damper on fantasy overall in terms of amount of points being spread among players on your roster.

Teams have also utilized random bench players. 3rd string and practice squad guys are scoring TDs as opposed to your 1st draft players. Yeah "you like that" *Kirk Cousins voice*
