When I tell you that recording the fight scene was insane. The first take was great then Sam the Director calls into the booth:
“Hey Seán, can you lose your shit even more for us for the next take.”
And then he made me cry in front of my work colleagues.
When it was over Sam looks round at me, then tells the recording room, with Seán “Fio’s crying I think we’ve got the take!”
god the cast interviews for ep 3 are SO funny. “yeah we really put narvin through it haha. yeah he had a bad time :D”

It's out! Beware of the spoilers for War Room 2 Transference! This project took me about a week and 120 drawings to complete. After I collected the drawings together I kinda figured out there were things that I could have done differently but I really love this draft. Super proud of finishing it. Animatics are always very exhausting to make because you need to think about so many things at once and you have to relisten to the material to see the image in your head and then decently transfer it into an image. It's also trickier when it isn't a music video but the characters just having a conversation. But surprisingly it wasn't a huge problem with this scene in particular because it was written and acted so dynamically. I think War Room 2 turned out a very solid boxset and switched my brain into "thinking about Gallifrey" mode! Big cheers to @fiotrethewey for writing this scene and supporting this project in progress. Cheers to Sean Carlsen for playing this scene so heart wrechingly! Under the cut I'll post the storyboards with some notes:

Narvin: You go down the path of the resistance, our path... it's not a long life. Lenaris: I don’t know, you seem pretty old. Narvin: ...Thanks.

literally can't stop thinking about "you're thinking with your hearts and not your head" bc. it's such a DELICIOUS role reversal. narvin always being the level-headed one and thinking things through before acting n trying to get leela to act rationally rather than emotionally. and now SHE'S the level-headed one trying to get HIM to act rationally rather than emotionally. just. frothing at the mouth about it ;-;

I can't stop thinking about Narvin at the end of Ambition's Debt. He just sounds so hollow...lost. The war has taken everything from him that he's ever cared even the slightest bit about. He's lost his family, his beacon, his hope and faith, and once again, his rock...one of the few things that's kept him grounded throughout the war. He's closing himself off, shoving away what little he has left, keeping it all at a distance. His resolve - his universe - is just disintegrating around him faster than he has time to truly process. I'm terrified he's heading down a terribly dark path from which we he may never recover.
Someone, please just give this poor man a hug and let him cry.

“You are not thinking with your head but with your hearts. That isn’t the Romana I remember.” Leela in Enemy Lines.
Updated on my Gallifrey autograph collection! Some signatures you can't see as they are on the inside, but I love this series so much ❤️❤️

Having some mildly incoherent thoughts about War Room 2 and the Gally trio this morning. May or may not make sense, spoilers below the cut:
When was the last time we saw Narvin “thinking with his hearts” instead of his head like he does in WR 2?
When he tried to wipe the Daleks from existence to save Romana.
Romana wasn’t there, just like she isn’t here now as Narvin is falling apart.
Narvin and Leela have managed without Romana before, but never for this long, and never like this. When things get bad, really bad, all Leela can do is stubbornly tell Narvin that there is hope, there is a reason to keep going, but she can’t explain why because she doesn’t know herself. She just knows there is hope. There has to be.
But that doesn’t work with Narvin’s analytical, rational mind. Normally, this is where Romana would step in and placate him with facts, numbers, figures. It’s what he understands. But Romana isn’t here. Leela can’t give him the facts he needs to believe in a better future.
Romana, Leela, and Narvin can no longer function without each other. As the gap where Romana should be widens, everything is tipping out of balance. Leela, Leela is becoming the rational one, the one who must serve the system she hates and play by the rules that go against her deepest values.
Meanwhile, Narvin, Narvin’s rationality is dissolving as he loses his grip on everything and everyone he loves. (Besides, if he doesn’t have anyone to love, who is he? The guy we all hated way back in S1. And he physically can’t become him again. So what does he become if he loses everything?)

The General really said 'if you're sneaking out to go see your resistance boyfriend that's none of my business, just don't do anything I wouldn't do'

This has been on my mind all day now, so I have to ask: Is the farmhouse Narvin's actual childhood home, or was it just an abandoned structure they were using as a makeshift hideout?
(if this was answered in the audio, I'm sorry...my brain sometimes skips over things when distracted. I've only heard this episode once so far and have yet to do a scene-by-scene analysis on it.)
ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT TRANSFERENCE
SPOILERS BELOW
Hi hi! Thank you for a cool question! And no it was never answered in the audio! You’re good :)
So in my head I think Lenaris’s day to day made her have an Aladdin street rat like quality and she didn’t stay in one place all that long.
That being said, she did very easily pretend to be a farmer, it isn’t a bad thought to consider that it was the house Rexin raised them in before it fell into disrepair after he was shot.
It was after all a convenient place to hide for a time - particularly when Helico and Lenaris would meet up pre the story where Helico would tinker on his devices and tell her about Citadel life and they could get to become family again.

"They treated you like a- a-" "Savage?"
chewing on the wall this audio is so good, the acknowledgment of the brutality with which Leela was treated at the beginning of war room.

One thing I LOVE about Narvin is how poetic he is deep inside. My man doesn't have the vibe and would deny any interest in expressing sentiments and then drop the lines like "you do have the most devastating smile, you know", "I don't think I can go on without Romana" and "never change, you're the one rock in this whole turbulent universe". This is insane

Narvin: You're lucky you're cute! Otherwise, I would've sold you to the freak show already. Lenaris: What's a freak show? Helico: It's like our family, but people pay to see it.
