I competed for the first time at SuperCon Raleigh in 2018 as Yang from RWBY. It was so much fun and creating something from scratch was a big learning experience. After the competition, I was inspired to build an armor cosplay. I also love wings, I always have. I was trying to rack my brain for a character with a cool armor and beautiful wings. I immediately thought of Erza Scarlet. I had already cosplayed 2 of her outfits, the Clear Heart (flame pants) and her Celestial.

As my first armor build and second cosplay that I made on my own, Erza was definitely a learning curve. By the time I was close to finishing the armor, I ended up remaking my swords because my foam crafting skill had improved so much. The wing skeleton and the hoop skirt is made from PVC pipe. The wings, as well as, the rest of the armor is made from foam of varying thickness from @TNTCosplaySupply. All of my patterns are my own, except the pauldrons which are from @KamuiCosplay . I believe my brief sewing background helped with creating patterns for foam.

I got to meet my partner in crime, @guardianofcosplay, at MomoCon 2018. He inspired me to really throw myself in crafting and we have helped each other enhance our skills. We will be competing together as a couple in 2020, including GalaxyCon2020. We have made so many good friends in the cosplay community. The competitive cosplay community has been amazing so far. We have been able to learn so many tips and tricks.

GalaxyCon Raleigh is the biggest convention in NC. They usually pull really great guests, such as David Tennant and George Takei. This coming year for 2020 they have already announced a ton of My Hero Academia VAs and KamuiCosplay, which I am super excited about
