My dad and my uncles found out about my obsession with GI Joe and now won’t stop asking me to draw them their favorite characters…
It’s not a bad thing I love drawing the sillies it’s just that I have two essays due tonight and a rushed sketch of Dusty waiting to be completed.

ohhhh yeah the marketing goal ☹️
ill forever glaze g1 as the original, but NEVER forgiving the way they killed off a BUNCH of the old cast D: arent there toys of them dying?? idk i remember reblogging a ratchet toy and lets just say he was nottt at his best 😭😭
i find your opinion interesting though, maybe cause where im at theres no wild transformers fans that can tell me how it was to experience g1 or any of the shows before 2010 when the franchise was still at its prime (hehe get it- *shot*)

There are xD Even the box art is like wtf for Brawn and Ratchet.

Cashing in on losing some of the best Autobots out there.
I wouldn't call myself a "wild" fan because I don't go to cons and I don't collect the toys but it is a franchise I find myself returning to every few years or so for whatever reason.
I grew up with the Transformers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Thundercats, He-man, Bravestarr, etc, all the 80s boy cartoons that my home country would broadcast and also sell toys of. I mean, I also watched cartoons for girls like My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, She-rah, Popples, Carebears, etc, but I liked playing with my brother's Transformers toys, too. I just can't for the life of me remember which toys he had.
Nowadays it's the IDW comics, Transformers Prime, Transformers One, and Earthspark (season 3 comes out today, yay~) for me so Transformers have come a long way since I was a kid.

Snake Eyes. The last of my first and favorite Joes. He's probably everyone's favorite as well so no point in waxing poetic. It's been fun drawing these old toys but it's time to make comics!

Phrases Constantly Repeated in the G.I. Joe Comic
ham and lima beans
sucking chest wound
perforated peritoneum
beating the soles of my feet with your face
grape soda and chocolate covered donuts
Evolving Themes of the G.I. Joe Comic from Beginning to Reboot
HOO RAH!! Blam! Kapow! U! S! A! U! S! A! Support the troops!
Be careful about getting scammed by pyramid schemes because you never know what criminal activity your money is going to.
Politics is filled with corrupt people who would abandon soldiers to die to avoid blame and maintain their own reputations.
The Vietnam War destroyed the lives of everyone even remotely involved with it.
Uh... wow. That was depressing as all hell. How did we get away with publishing that? Uhhh.... YOU KNOW WHAT’S COOL? Ninjas! Everyone’s a ninja now! Billy’s a ninja! Firefly’s a ninja! Scarlett gets a new sexy ninja outfit! Megatron is cool! Let’s have Megatron cross on over! Awesome robot war in OUTER SPACE! Super Rad
Join the army if you want to see the worst humanity has to offer and make the best friends of your life, and then watch them die.
Other Things I Noticed in the G.I. Joe Comic
Baroness started off wearing normal unflattering clothes until she was severely burned and had to undergo extensive plastic surgery. She started wearing her iconic black leather after that, with the implication that she wants to feel beautiful again, which is extremely valid.
Minh the shrimp fisherman is my favorite character because he is a random guy with no real military training, but he was able to hide out on Cobra Island for a year without getting caught.
In the modern G.I. Joe series, there is the premise that all the Joes are legally dead and are only known by their codenames. In the old comics, they aren’t, and get regular leave and go home to their families and go on vacations. I think that’s nice.
Cobra Commander is as fabulous as he is evil, and when Cobra Island was blown up during a civil war, his greatest concern was that there wasn’t an orchestra to welcome him back. That aspect of his character has been lost in most adaptations.
The interesting thing about the old comics is how their weapons, vehicles, and settings are totally nonsensical but the themes of the story are often brutally realistic.

Favorite G.I.Joe number two is Scarlett. Right off the bat I thought she was cool. She had a frickin crossbow to fight with which is either badass or insane.
